Aaron’s such an underrated character on Aphblr tbh. He’s become one of my favorite characters in the cast as I rewatch more and more of Mystreet. Aaron will tease you, but he’s also one of the best characters in the cast to go to for emotional support. He’ll tell you as it is, smack you upside the head when you’re being crazy and shake you back to rational normalcy, but then he’ll sigh and tell you you’re gonna be just fine and everything’s gonna be okay. He is the number one (and on occasion only) holder of brain cells in the whole neighborhood. He’s the most sensible, and often the word of wisdom/rationale, much more so than Katelyn or Lucinda or Zane or Laurance are. This can often make him come off as a serious character, but he’s still down to clown! He just does it in a different way!

He’s supposed to contrast Aphmau’s louder, more extroverted, playful, ditzy, eccentric personality, by being quieter, more rational, more responsible, more cautious and careful, more reserved, a word of wisdom to contrast her crazier, chaotic energy and pranking and punning and ponies and general whimsical tomfoolery. But that does not, by any means, mean that he is not participating in the antics. Just because he’s the only one who thought to bring a first aid kit and a safety harness doesn’t mean he’s not jumping off that cliff with everyone else in this crazy cast. You tell him to dig, he’ll bring shovels. He may sigh or say “oh god not again” when shit goes awry or the gang decides they are Dead Set on doing something insane for the 10,000th time, but by god he will commit. Aphmau kidnaps a baby and goes on a mad chase for a comedic bit, and he never complains about how “stupid” and “reckless” and “obnoxious” his girlfriend is, he just says in a completely calm tone, “Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go save my girlfriend.” And he chases after her immediately lmao.

Aaron enables the antics and participates in them, and if you rile him up or challenge him damn well enough, he will throw himself into the group antics with an unbeatable, fiery fervor. If the boys decide they’re all gonna pretend to be Santa and his elves in order to cause prankster-variety chaos one day, Aaron would join in and go right alongside them. He’s here to make sure it all goes to plan. He’s here to make sure you don’t break any bones when you jump off that roof like a madman. He’s here to help you run away from the cops, help you break into the building. He may chide you for doing it in the first place (“do you even know what you’re doing?!”), and if needed he may drag you back home if you’re barking up the wrong tree and it’s nothing but detrimental to you, but if it’s viable for the bit, he absolutely will show you how to break a window correctly.

And he can be a little shit if he wants to, too!! He can snicker at you and tease you and make quips, and I bet if Aaron himself dedicated his energy to it, he would make the best of pranks. He’s not an asshole that’s full of himself and too serious and stoic and cool for being silly, he’s not a whiny bitch, he’s actually very incredibly supportive. At times, much more so than Garroth, Laurance, Zane, Katelyn, etc. He’s reliable, he trusts Aphmau a lot, he knows how shittily Aphmau cooks and still does his damndest to support her, and he will force himself to eat her biohazardous cooking just to make her happy. He is the chef of the household. He’s good with animals, animals love him. He’s a kind guy!!! He’s just got his own unique energy and vibe to him, that no one else in the cast really has, and I really appreciate that core trait of him. He’s a grounding character. He’s probably got his own ways that he’s weird and eccentric that are a lot more hidden than Aphmau’s. If we didn’t have Aaron, the entire neighborhood would have burned down ages ago, ten times over.

I genuinely do believe he’d make a fantastic dad, being a combination of a soft and gentle and tenderly loving man, and responsible enough to always bring safety helmets and bandaids and snacks, very supportive of his kids development, emotionally available as a great source of genuine advice and wisdom while still getting plenty of encouragement. He would probably want to make an effort to be a very different parent than his father was, and since he was emotionally neglected as a child, he would refuse to do anything similar to his own kids. He’d be a good influence (and Aphmau would be the bad influence LOL)

He’s kind of a teddy bear of a man <3 If he weren’t so heavily wolf-themed, I’d say a bear would be the best animal that’d fit his personality and energy. He’d protect you like a bear, he can be really fucking terrifying if he wants to, but he’d only use that power to make sure Aphmau gets what she wants and needs to make her happy. He’d never use that terrifying intimidation factor of his on his friends and loved ones, never as anything more than a single look that has a derailing Garroth/Laurance/Travis/Dante/Gene/etc. get right the fuck back on track and start backpedaling, like if they started saying or doing something careless or stupid that made Aphmau feel worse. He’s quiet and reserved with that tired, grounded, solid energy of a bear. He’s a big guy. But he can also be really soft and supportive and sweet. He takes more time to come out of his shell and let down his walls, but when he does, he really dedicates his life to the few people he manages to trust. And it’s that thick outer shell that makes Aphmau a good match for him, because she’s kinda the only character in the cast who’s able to bring him out of his shell so easily.

She’s kind and extremely friendly, unstoppably and unendingly so. She’s sweet and naive and selfless in the way that proves to Aaron that she’s not trying to get anything out of him, she’s not lying to him, and she would never neglect him or just…abandon him like a discarded toy once she’s through with him. She’s not scared of him. She sees the best in everybody, and sees that there’s something more underneath that scary, prickly outer shell of defenses that’s managed to push everyone else away and keep the likes of Laurance and Garroth and Katelyn on their toes. She sees what no one else does, she sees the true beauty and the kind heart he has underneath. Even in MCD, when he’s literally held a sword to her throat and threatened her life multiple times, she can still sense that he’s full of shit and there’s a kind heart underneath, and if she does a little cultivating, extends a hand of gentle kindness and genuine affection, a kind of love and affection he’s never really seen before and been starved of all his life… it works wonders, and he steps out to meet her. He changes, drastically, because she sees the best in him, and that makes him want to become the best version of himself that he can be, for her. Where he might hate himself and grapple with feeling unloveable, Aphmau is there to remind him none of its true. And so he tries to keep her nightmares away in return, sticking by her side, taking care of her, cooking for her, encouraging her to keep doing everything she does best, defends her against the bullies that make her feel like she’s not good enough, and takes her by the shoulders to remind her that she is good enough, and all the voices out there and in her head that tell her she’s not are full of shit. Because he knows first-hand, better than most, the good things she brings to those around her and the wonderful presence she is in others lives, and how wonderful she is as a person. He trusts her. He’s here to guide her along in her path to becoming her fullest self, to give her that last big nudge to boost her along the way. Likely on a cosmic level, mainly, with her becoming Irene.

He’s very sweet, he’s sweet to Aphmau, Aphmau’s even sweeter to him, and genuinely I’ve learned to love the big, fluffy guy and I really appreciate him and his impact on the other characters the more and more I see of him. I don’t really know how I would enjoy Mystreet or MCD or the Aphverse without him. If he were real, I would love to give him one big hug, I bet his hugs would be amazing (topped only by Garroth’s rib-crushing bear hugs)

I’m getting into TCW shows for the first time (saw the 2D, then 3D movie, and just started the 3D show). I’ve been a movies only person and haven’t seen any SW show up to these. Can you explain the characterization of Anakin (and Obi-Wan, and any other character)? I’m familiar with some of the 3D arcs due to fanfiction (Hardeen, Satine, Mortis, etc.).

I view the clone wars as more like in-universe propaganda than any substantial addition to the story because Anakin and Obi-Wan’s characterizations are 1/1 to their wartime monikers, The Hero With No Fear and the Negotiator respectively, which inherently makes them antithetical to the actual story being told. Their canon nuance is ironed out to fit these names when really the titles were more of a metatextual tragedy element because they both lose due to their fear or lack of negotiation ability.

Anakin in the movies (and books) is defined by fear. He lives in fear of losing his loved ones and as a result preemptively responds to it through anger, violence, and self destruction. He is also incredibly insecure, awkward, and sensitive and is very much a teenager. He is not at all the classic image of a hero in that he lacks charisma (especially the leadership kind, people don’t like him!) and doesn’t have notable physical prowess. He is explicitly the sort of guy who could eventually kill the Tuskens or younglings, and we as the audience can feel that. For him, being Anakin Skywalker is frightening and oppressive. He does not like being Anakin Skywalker.

Anakin in TCW 2008 on the other hand, above all, is not scared of anything. He is assured in himself, he is confident and a charismatic leader with a deep voice cleft chin and biceps for days. People like him. His anger or violence is often very justified, and he doesn’t at all seem uncomfortable in his own skin or the world around him. He knows who he is and likes being him. That is like, his most key difference. He likes being Anakin Skywalker, and he is not scared of what that means. An Anakin Skywalker who is not afraid is not the same one that could kill Tusken or younglings—this Anakin Skywalker is a mentor.

Similarly, Obi-Wan in the movies and books is a guy defined by his inability to negotiate with himself or his ideals. He views things as very black or white and doesn’t really interrogate them. He also is a guy who cannot negotiate his love for Anakin with his Jedi teachings, and ends up basically in emotionally distant slop purgatory with Anakin as he tries not to balance the two (since that requires introspection) and tries mold Anakin into his ideal image. His inability to negotiate his ideology with a person not necessarily equipped for it in the same way is what defines his and Anakin’s relationship, and ultimately informs the way that Revenge of the Sith ends. He could not negotiate the time it mattered most, and arguably, if you view Mustafar the way I do, could not negotiate his love for Anakin (saving him) with the necessary action required according to Jedi teachings (killing him) so did nothing, and left. Obi-Wan in the movies and books is a guy who does not truly know himself.

Obi-Wan in TCW…is none of this. He also suffers from the glamorization in that he’s far more assertive and, notably, struggles with his relationship with the Jedi order. He has a love interest and he ultimately chooses the Jedi over her, which he isn’t able to do in RotS with Anakin. He makes decisions like this multiple times in the series, which is IMO antithetical to his character because it requires a certain level of assertion he just doesn’t have. Obi-Wan in TCW is a guy who is self-aware and has has interrogated his lifestyle and has decided that he will follow Jedi teachings and that he is a Jedi. He knows himself.

So with this in mind you hit this point where the actions of the characters in the show are not the same as the ones in the movies. TCW Anakin would not fall, he would save the day. And if he did, TCW Obi-Wan would suck it up and kill him, and save the day. And that’s why I feel like it can only be viewed as something like in-universe propaganda, because TCW portrays a future where they all win.

As part of this amazing event here are some of my slightly personal and genuine feelings about Buck, Tommy, their relationship and this wonderful community! ✨

As a bisexual woman in her 30s–Buck discovering this other side to his sexuality, to who he is (in his 30s) and Tommy, an older gay man who lived for so long in the closet, but was finally being himself–looking more comfortable and free, meant a lot to me. Especially seeing that on a tv show as big as 911.

I’m not in the closet but I’m also not completely out. I tried to tell someone very close to me I was Bi and instead was shoved back in the closet. Because they just couldn’t fathom or think about that in relation to me. Even though I was still the same person I always was. So the Bucktommy relationship meant a lot to me. From the beginning, the relationship was sweet and caring, communicative and so understanding. Also so completely normal and genuine. It was honestly very uplifting and hopeful to see. It made me feel like I could get my happy ending. Maybe not right now but one day. Especially because this person was also watching the show. And I hoped seeing positive representation for bisexuality and a same sex couple would help them understand me better.

Of course, bucktommy led me to this wonderful community. It has been truly life changing. I’ve been in many fandoms before, always a lurker, never an active participant. It always felt scary, some of the bigger louder accounts unapproachable. It’s honestly incredible how different bucktommy nation is. I felt so welcomed from the beginning. Even when I was just reblogging or commenting on people's amazing posts and stories. And soon I found myself feeling brave, being myself, contributing to the community by making edits and when I doubted I could even write (despite wanting to so badly) I got so much encouragement and support. And I’m so so thankful for that. I haven’t felt this motivated in such a long time. I’m creating again! And that’s a wonderful gift you have all given me, all of you and BuckTommy ❤️ Not to mention being there for each other as we went through that breakup and the terrible writing of that episode.

So for 2025, I hope we can see Tommy on our screens again. I hope he finds his happiness and love, because he deserves it. I hope we get to see him heal. And I hope we can continue to see Lou’s thoughtful portrayal of him and the love and care he puts into his acting, especially for a character that means so much to us. I also hope Buck can continue living his truth and above all that we get to see him fight for love and get his forever. Finally, I hope we get to see this amazing relationship flourish and grow once again ✨

The one(s) with Baby Scott remind me of that panel that everyone likes to use to make fun of him, or at least AvX.

Folks really do like to make fun of this panel. But they ignore and/or miss the context.

Scott isn't criticizing or attacking Bruce here. He's asking for help. Because he's a child who appeared in a terrifying future to learn that he's (apparently) going to betray everything and everyone he's ever loved. He has learned that HE is the one who is going to kill the man who saved him and gave him everything.

(As much as I hate Xavier, I can't deny that Scott loves him and has good reasons to.)

Fortunately Bruce DOES recognize the context and advises accordingly.

This isn't a funny scene. This is a very quiet, very un-dramatic, but very genuine moment where Bruce Banner is talking a kid out of suicide.

And while the bulk of the blame goes to adult Hank, you can't tell me that moment where Logan holds his claws to his throat in front of a completely silent crowd (with the adult version of at least one of his closest friends), and suggests trading him for Charles Xavier, didn't play a part in this.

I always really wished we got a scene where Bruce actually called Logan and Hank out for this bullshit. But there you go.

It does occur to me that the Hope scene has a weird element of being both a tiny bit heartwarming and also proof that Logan learned nothing.

So Hope is trying to assassinate someone. Maybe. I'm not clear on that. There are lots of angry mutants though, helping her. But she and Scott end up having a confrontation, while she holds him at gunpoint.

I mean, it's not a great situation, but it's also not like Nathan hasn't held his father at gunpoint on a regular basis in the 90s and early 00s. Scott's used to this.

I don't really blame Wolverine for jumping in here though, because generally holding someone at gunpoint is not great. Also, I feel like stabbing was probably not necessary. You COULD have just knocked her over the head. (I mean, IRL, that would probably be bad too. But comics work on the same logic as television and concussions are optional.)

It does however lead to Hope shooting her grandfather in the head. Oops.

That's when you get the part where Logan tries to kill her outright. (Amusingly, for all her earlier monologue about how she and Scott are nothing to each other now that Nathan is dead, she does say "thanks for the powers, Grandpa".)

This part's actually a little heartwarming if you're a shipper:

Fortunately, she ends up using Logan's healing factor and surviving.

As a tangent, I really enjoy seeing the damage done to Wolverine from Hope's borrowed optic blasts. It illustrates how much Scott holds back when he and Logan fight.

Also, tangential bonus:

We can't even really credit Hope's incredible aiming skills for the fact that she managed to shoot his eye out without any sort of damage to the rest of his pretty, pretty face.

The universe just wants to keep this man beautiful. (It doesn't want to face Jean's wrath if it doesn't, perhaps.)

But anyway, it's heartwarming to see Logan actually acknowledge that he cares about Scott. It's also pretty eye-rolling though that he hasn't really learned anything from AvX though. Yet again, he's blaming someone for the accidental (only apparent this time) death of someone he loved, ignoring his own role in the accident, and outright shamelessly attempting to murder a child.

Logan shouldn't be allowed near children

I know that's a loaded title but I stand by it. There's obviously an element of Flanderisation going on but considering his stated reason for opening the Jean Grey school he is far too eager to murder children.

Why TF is he leaping at children, snarling with his claws out? Check out the frothing drool.

For example, in All-New X-Men, the O5 have just been bought to the future by Hank McCoy. He stops teaching his violence through yelling class and heads out the front, leaping at the 16 year olds with his claws out. Not Hank, who brought them there but clearly traumatised children - while screaming like a lunatic of course. Even if he's not trying to kill them, what purpose does terrifying them serve? He clearly IS trying to kill them, though. I'm sure his students would love to see their headmaster butcher confused children in front of them.

Unsurprisingly, he scares the fuck out of them. In part influenced by constant threats of his violence, the O5 steal the X-Jet and flee, explicitly doubting this guy is an X-Man. His thoughts about the 16 year old Jean Grey... No dude, this isn't the Jean you know. She's a child you've tried to kill. Fucking creep.

This one is great. Young Scott has enough going on without this frothing beast advocating for his immediate execution as punishment for his future self's actions. Out front of the school with literally everyone watching. He's using his authority to advocate for slaughtering a child. Thankfully nobody agrees with him, but this is traumatic, terrifying, and affects Scott especially so badly he runs away.

No wonder he freaks out and leaves. Obviously the headmaster of a school should drop what he's doing, not for his wellbeing but to get his bike back. How is he in charge of anyone's wellbeing or moral instruction? He demands absolute obedience while doing nothing to deserve it. It's all about how Logan feels.

Here he is trying to gut a 15 year old Wiccan for having Scarlet Witch vibes, not for the or last time. I'm a little surprised he remained an Avenger after this. When you have knives for hands everyone looks like a pincushion. Except that's not it, because everyone else is a living weapon too and they mostly manage to be somewhat rational.

Why are his claws out here? Is he trying to kill him? What did he expect after threatening and traumatizing him? Snarling and shouting like an animal - isn't he trying to emulate Chuck here?

I can't remember why he's doing this but it's not the first time he's tried to kill Hope. Didn't work then either.

A 16 year old Jean uses a telepathic projection of the Phoenix to aid Wolverine in a fight. He stupidly thinks it's real and straight up tries to kill her. The bad guys get away. Not sure how many times he has to attempt to kill the Phoenix before he understands it's not an appropriate thing to do, nor is it about him. He's more like Sabertooth than he thinks, except he thinks he's in the right and somehow never gets called out. Logan has advanced senses - how is his instinct to straight up kill her instead of investigating further?

We can do better

I think that once Logan reached a certain point of saturation he became static. The lone wolf that's the best there is at what he does, and what he does is behave so unpleasantly it's hard to believe anyone would want to be near him, let alone allow him to run a school. He says 'bub' a lot and he snikts at the drop of a hat while repeating the same interpersonal drama over and over. I see him as a frequent self insert for the worst kind of toxic masculinity yet he's more popular than ever. No judgement if you like him at all, but I think the character deserves better. Somehow he's still a misunderstood loner despite a lot of people knowing him very well - with the amount of teams and books he's in he has the most active social life in 616. It'll never happen but I'd like to see him retire, as there are several Wolverines better than he..

I was watching Chapter 15: The Believer yesterday and something stood out to me that I guess I'd never really thought about before...

When the Juggernaut is getting attacked by the Pirates, we see several shots of Din struggling without his armour. It's a new way of fighting for him and he struggles to adapt at first.

He quickly rallies and skilfully fights them off, though. But more pirates soon appear and after fighting them off, Din is thrown backwards. He sees several pirates approaching.

Din lies down in defeat, powerless to fight them off without his armour or weapons. Knowing his death is likely imminent, without hope of survival.

Instead of giving up and accepting defeat, he does not allow himself to wallow in despair and mystery. After sighing deeply he steadies himself and gets right back up:

Facing down death as the pirates approach, he does not show weakness or fear.

He doesn't allow himself to be cowardly, or dwell on his likely impending doom and the fact he has failed in his quest to rescue the child he loves so much...

Instead, Din stands there with his fists up, outnumbered and without weapons, prepared to fight to the end even in the face of certain death...

Fortunately, of course, the TIE Fighters appear to save the day and Din succeeds in his quest to rescue Grogu and, well, you know the rest.

But I think this little moment in one of the best episodes is such a good insight into his character.

Standing up with his fists clenched like that, outnumbered and hopeless but refusing to accept defeat is perhaps one of the most Mandalorian things he's ever done. Yet only a few minutes later he removes his helmet and that act leaves him rendered an apostate in the eyes of his people. Told he is a Mandalorian no more, even.

It's kind of heartbreaking because he really did not deserve to be told that. Mandalorians are proud warriors, who never give up. Being a coward is the worst insult in Mando'a, their ancient language. Here, Din showed that he is nothing of the sort.

Din Djarin is as honourable a Mandalorian as they come.

i am so charmed by a lumax wedding because it’s not even something max thought would happen. like she assumed weddings were something the girl makes happen and the guy puts up with. and because she had no desire for one, so there’s no reason it would happen.

among other things weddings are an exorbitant and performative show of love, max loves lucas and she doesn’t care whether or not other people know or believe this. at it’s best marriage to her has been a representation of failed dreams and at it’s worst it’s been a tool to manipulate people who need to get away to stay. maybe they will get married for the tax benefits, she thinks.

this is until max and lucas are older and living together, they’re chilling on the couch and lucas mentions his family has been asking when he’s planning to propose and if that’s something max even wants? max doesn’t care, she doesn’t plan on going anywhere, a certificate won’t change anything and she's not crazy about parties. she doesn’t ask how he feels, he brings it up, that “actually i want a wedding.”

that is saying the least, lucas wants a wedding more than anything. he loves max and he doesn’t need to prove that to anyone, but he’s happy and he wants to share that with others! he wants to work with max to make marriage a positive thing to them, he wants to celebrate their love, everything they’ve been through. also, hell, he’s only human, he wants to show off! he wants to dress really cool and go to a really cool place and show the world know how awesome he and his girlfriend are. HIS WIFE!!!

most of all, lucas wants the moment near the end of the night, where the party’s getting loud and everybody wants his attention, but max asks if he wants to get out of there and he says yes. not out out, just outside the venue. it’s dark and the once booming music is now faint, they sit and catch up, complain about their families, laugh about their friends. max holds lucas’s hand and plays with his wedding ring, she whispers something sweet before asking him to dance. it’s the best part of the night and nobody will know about it but them.

suddenly max decides she wants a wedding.

Warriors thinks he a lost cause, and Malon has definitely sat there more than once and watched someone hit on Time and shoot their shot, not realizing he’s married. and she just laughed her ass off because Time wouldn’t get the hint if it slapped him in the fucking face, bless his heart, and she’s had to go and rescue him because he just seriously cannot tell when people are hitting on him. He’s definitely embarrassed about it every single time it happens, but he just does not get it
