I have decided that if we never see Yord's padawan from the first episode again and Yord dies next episode, my headcanon for her continued absence is that she stayed behind to take a historiography class and historiography's just a cursed class

historiography by the prequel era becomes the lowest attended course because it's widely rumored that something horrible will happen if you take it

this is what I'm going with

Avar Kriss/Elzar Mann

Post- The Fallen Star, epilogue, hurt/comfort, angst, grief/mourning, unfortunately mostly canon compliant.

In the aftermath of the Starlight Beacon crash, the survivors have no choice but to carry on as best they can. The remaining Jedi attempt to mitigate the damage on Eiram's surface. Avar Kriss and Elzar Mann find comfort in one another as they try to process their grief. Lina Soh faces the collapse of her greatest ambitions. And Vernestra Rwoh learns who Starlight took with it when it crashed.

Excerpt:

Avar sat down on the edge of the bed. Stood up again. Folded her clothes. Folded them again. Walked to the window. Turned away from the view of the sea where Starlight lay. 

Kriff, she couldn’t stay here. The silence was deafening, the loneliness overwhelming. She slipped her boots on, grabbed her cloak, and stepped out into the corridor. The only destination she had in her mind was not a place, but a person. It didn’t matter that she didn’t know exactly where in the building she was going: the Force guided her steps, a siren’s song calling her to the ocean’s edge.

Her knuckles had barely brushed the surface of the door when it opened to reveal Elzar on the other side. He did not look surprised to see her there. He didn’t look dressed either.

Anything Avar had been going to say vanished from her mind. Instead, she looked him up and down. ‘Do you often answer the door shirtless?’ she asked.

Elzar grinned, and for a moment he looked like himself again. ‘Only when I know it’s you on the other side.’ His expression sobered somewhat. ‘Are you okay?’

If it had been anyone else, Avar would have lied. But he wasn’t anyone else, he was Elzar Mann - the one person who knew her better than the rest of the galaxy combined.

‘No,’ she said quietly. ‘Can I…’ She trailed off, then swallowed hard. ‘I can’t be by myself tonight.’

Elzar said nothing. He just stepped aside to let her in.

WHY DOES THE HIGH REPUBLIC CONSISTENTLY FEEL LIKE IT'S PUNCHING ME IN THE THROAT WITH SITUATIONS THAT HAVE HYPERSPECIFIC EMOTIONAL SIMILARITIES TO SOMETHING I'M MENTALLY DEALING WITH AT THE TIME

Okay, if Yoda apparently accepts that Avar and Elzar love each other in Temptation of the Force, then how did it get from this to romantic attachments being forbidden in the prequel era?

Yoda being okay with Avar/Elzar is so unexpected. I keep thinking that there must be a limit to his acceptance. Perhaps he is okay with them loving each other but not okay with them going into an actual romantic relationship? Also maybe he is okay with their relationship but the rest of the council isn’t.

I mean, something more has to happen with Elzar/Avar because we know that Padme and Anakin will have to hide their relationship from the Jedi Order because the prequel Jedi forbid romantic relationships. My hope is that the romantic relationship will be found out and the council will not be happy about it (maybe because it causes Elzar or Avar or both to make a horrible mistake?) and will try to separate them or make them end their romantic relationship. Elzar and Avar will stand with each other and leave the Jedi Order. The council will then create stricter rules against romantic attachments to avoid a similar situation happening again.

high republic yellow lightsaber wielders and their fates. spoilers. more or less chronological order. seriously, spoilers.

Kevmo Zink - oh he died horribly (slowly turned to stone while fully conscious, right after watching his master die the same way). his lightsaber stayed behind and was used by the antagonist until breaking.

Xinith Tarl and Sula Badani - two participants in the same horribly traumatizing mission. Sula gets her hand turned to ash, regroups and fights some more, and ultimately gets the rest of her body also turned to ash. Xinith makes it out though.

Enya Keen - one of the era's many, many young Jedi who got reassigned to a different master because their first one died tragically. she also got a replacement lightsaber, leaving the yellow lightsaber gang just in time.

Dagan Gera - leaves the yellow lightsaber club by bleeding his lightsaber and turning to the dark side. predictably this doesn't save him.

Djovi Resmia - Young Jedi Adventures character so i don't really know them but i assume they will be fine?

Loden Greatstorm - could be considered the first big casualty of the series! got kidnapped and tortured for a year. was really close to escaping and then got turned to stone in front of his traumatized student. the villain kept his lightsaber as well and keeps showing it off. hilariously also a Young Jedi Adventures character.

Estala Maru - died in a heroic sacrifice holding a burning space station together. a lot of jedi died in the same event so his death is not that emphasized. what do you know, he also showed up in Young Jedi Adventures.

Indeera Stokes - got to adopt Loden's traumatized student and then traumatized him in turn by almost dying in the same way Loden did. lived but is paralyzed, probably permanently.

Ram Jomaram - he is actually having a pretty good time all things considered.

Emerick Caphtor - doing alright so far! but he is the primary character investigating the creepy things that killed or maimed 4 of his yellow lightsaber predecessors. i am so worried for him.

Soleil Agra - she's okay! also very hot. who said that

Yord Fandar - ??? we'll see in the oncoming weeks. i do think the rando in the background isn't gonna make it though.

i feel like I’ll have more coherent thoughts in the morning but damn that was a skilled reveal. They were laying the Qimir-is-the-Sith on heavily enough from the trailer onwards that I was like 80% but the episode kept tugging me back and forth like oh idk maybe it will end up being Koril after all with all the talk of getting inside people’s heads…

…While also tugging me along with the ‘they’re so going to kill Jecki/no they’re not going to kill the cute padawan (they don’t have the guts)’ and then just when I’m distracted with ‘oh SHIT they really went there’ the DROP to Manny Jacinto like damn, I really think that was well done I was SHOOK

(I say like I wasn’t quite literally shaking for a minute after that LOL ‘wow what a clever reveal, well shot’ *shaking*)

hot take, but jedi master orin darhga & padawan enya keen are just yord and jecki like 200 years before they were yord and jecki

that one concept about soulmates being reincarnated (tho i personally see jecki and yord as platonic soulmates), where sometimes their lives are inextricably bound together from start to end, but sometimes they only ever meet once to simply lend a helping hand, to save a life, to be a comfort in a time of need. and the fact that [spoiler] through his death, orin (and his saber) saved enya's life is like a fulfillment of that interview where charlie said to dafne "i'm really sad that i didn't get to at least try to save you"

it's okay, yord. you saved her 200 years ago on dalna. and i'm sure in another 200 years, she'll be the one to save you

edit: I FORGOT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING, ENYA'S BLADE IS YELLOW AND ORIN'S IS GREEN, I'M THROWING UP
