the only way the council of nikaea makes sense is if you remove the emperor almost entirely and make this a domestic political dispute between the primarchs, perhaps even presided over by horus as a representative of the emperor (tying themes of the emperor’s relationship to religion as a religious figure by being the spirit of god in the trial room) OR, in my opinion, more interestingly, you make the entire council a set-up by the emperor and imply that he has a long-term plan to dismantle the primarchs and astartes as part of the end of the crusade in a manner pretty similar to the thunder warriors because he fundamentally understands that these genetically-altered beings created specifically for the purpose of conquest and destruction cannot possibly be maintained in a galaxy that has Been Conquered TM and will only become a threat to the imperium overall and must be eliminated as part of the final part of the crusade’s overall goal the literal moment they are no longer needed - and that’s why even though it’s so clear that magnus is more charismatic in his arguments than mortarion, and that the librarian programme is well-supported by very reasonable primarchs like guilliman, vulkan, the khan, lion’el, sanguinius, fulgrim, horus, and even konrad (who is not reasonable but is the emperor’s very special baby boy) vs. disliked by mortarion and angron (who simply. the emperor does not give a shit about) and rogal dorn (not really causing a huge fuss about it), that the trial/council/conclave is an entire farce and represents a massive betrayal to magnus specifically that could even cause him to listen to tzeentch or be actively more disloyal to the imperium than him accidentally ending up on the traitors’ side by mostly what seems like a paperwork issue.

imma be real honest with you, anon, i've loved the kidco dynamic since i was conan-sized but i only realized kaishin should be making out around 2021 so i don't know if i'm the best person to answer this question LOL BUT, i'll give you an answer!

tbh, i think for fandom shipping in general, the main character more often than not is the chosen bottom and whoever else is the other party is topping them. in japanese media especially, the ship names are mostly born from putting the kanji of their names together wherein the order of which indicates the seme and uke. since this happens early on, we kinda get stuck with that as the popular ship name whether you prefer the other way later on.

perhaps kaishin is more popular but not entirely by a lot compared to other ships where it's completely skewed to one side. i see a lot of shinkai too. ofc there are people who prefer one way over the other exclusively and that's completely fine!

personally, i think confining them into seme and uke or top and bottom does a great disservice to the kaishin dynamic because to me we should be looking at their sub-dom dynamic more and why they're actually peak switch sub and dom!!!!

i think the appeal of kaishin is the push and pull between them. the give and take. they're always trying to one-up each other. sometimes one pushes and the other gives way, sometimes it's the other way around.

i will be honest, perhaps switch pairings might just be my preference but I have never encountered a pairing that felt this completely equal in the switch department more than kaishin. like for other ships i'd sometimes be like, "yeah they switch but A is 70% more dom than B." But for kaishin I'm like, "oKAY THEY'RE 50/50 THEY'RE EQUALS THEY'RE PERFECT HALVES RAAAAAHHHH"

now how does this answer your question? well, i have no proof and im going off of vibes and like i said im no veteran in this ship fandom but, i think a lot of people do enjoy the other way around as you think it would've been. it's just that...it's something that can just be filed under the kaishin tag too. because it's basically the same sometimes. the only different thing is who's topping and bottoming. like sometimes i'm scrolling through twitter and i'd see art that's giving shinkai but it's tagged as kaishin and vice versa lol.

also personally i prefer calling them kaishin because i love the letter k and i associate the name shinkai more with makoto shinkai so every time i see people refer to kaishin as shinkai, my mind just conjures up an image of kaito, shinichi, and makoto shinkai together and i know that's fucking hilariously weird but it sometimes happens!!!! LMAO so even if i'm thinking about shinkai stuff, i still prefer using the name kaishin lol.

(but having the kaishin/shinkai distinction is definitely still useful especially for people who want to filter through one way or the other so fuck yeah to the ship name shinkai you're here to stay!!!)

anyway in conclusion, top shinichi is popular too dw lol, or maybe i should say bottom kaito is popular too lol i see yalls

yeahhh. i will forever regret reading the last chapter through leaks because it was a dreadful experience, and watching everyone ever shit on it for like a week after genuinely made me want to just get off the internet forever or something because i felt like an idiot for liking the ending (all this is my fault for getting too invested in both tumblr and mha etc etc).

All the "it's rushed" and pacing complaints barely matter to me at this point because you just cannot feel the pacing of something correctly when you're reading it exclusively through leaks. you can't absorb info like that. At first I was going to say no, but now that I think about it, it would be yes. It's not like they are directly insecure about it, but it's true that that side of theirs fills them with doubt and fear about themselves.

Is like a cycle: Eli's troubles go around losing control of their own body, but their own insecurity and fear about it fuel that idea, and it manifests in small inconveniences, which fuels the idea more.

His own mind it's the one giving them the problem, she has a human mind after all.

For a moment i was going to say no because they know they can induce fear at first sight or damage at the slightest touch, and they are confident about it, but the insecurity comes in other times. Taking care of someone? Petting a small animal? Being too close to people? When he feel damage shouldn't be on the situation is when Eli feels the most helpless and dangerous if they get inside their thoughts too much.

That thought is internalized, it's not like they are directly thinking about it nonstop, but it shapes her behaviour.
