Bad Batch + napping headcanons

(i'm sure this has been discussed many times before, it's nothing new rly, but i wanted to get my thoughts out bc i was rambling on about this in the tags of another post lmao)

this got so long wtf??? so, short version here, full version under the readmore :P

Crosshair -- frequent, instant, power naps in the daytime

(often has trouble sleeping due to enhanced night vision)

Hunter -- "close my eyes and try to relax" type 'napping'

(also has trouble sleeping, sometimes, due to enhanced senses)

(also, y'know when your friends/relatives can tell you're PMSing because of your particular/unusual emotional & physical symptoms? the boys can tell when "it's time" for Hunter to have a proper nap in much the same way lmao)

(cue an unspoken group effort to give him quiet time)

Tech -- can power nap but hates taking naps; often ends up falling asleep in the middle of doing stuff while "resting his eyes"

Wrecker -- can nap anywhere&time, but his naps are long and deep and he's hard to wake up sometimes

Echo -- can't nap (and even if he could, he wouldn't); but will "shut his eyes and try to relax" nap, if need be

bonus #1: Rex -- can only nap if he's physically in contact with someone he trusts

bonus #2: Gregor -- unintentionally "fake" naps, ie. looks so relaxed that people think he's asleep but he's actually awake and just has his eyes closed; prefers to be touching or cuddling someone when 'napping', doesn't matter who lol

as i said in another post, i believe Crosshair has perfected the art of the instant power nap in the daytime

as part of his dna tampering, the kaminoans gave Crosshair excellent night vision

however since he wasn't born naturally with it, it still bothers him at night when he's trying to sleep. hence daytime power napping.

Hunter also has some degree of night vision; coupled with his enhanced senses and related headaches, he also has trouble sleeping sometimes.

like, i figure by now, he's taught himself how to tune out most distractions so he can sleep. but he still struggles, esp in unfamiliar/new areas (unlike their bunk room on Kamino or on the Marauder, where i'm sure he has no problem falling asleep, even when the boys are all still up and talking)

anyways, i think that Hunter struggles to take proper naps. he usually does the "close my eyes and relax" type of 'napping'

but when Hunter does need a nap? like really truly needs a proper sleepytime nap? the boys know it. oh boy do they ever.

it's like when a friend/relative realizes you're PMSing because you're overly/unusually emotional or cranky hgfghgfdfghjkl

that's what over-tired Hunter is like - he just gets a very specific way emotionally (i'm thinking shorter temper, thinner patience, clipped tone of voice; on the flip side, if he sees something that makes him sad, his eyes will immediately glisten with tears, and he's ultra quiet and reserved the whole day)...

...and the boys have learned to recognize all the mental and physical signs, in Hunter's body language and tone of voice and reactions to things

and once they internally realize "ahhh it's Hunter Naptime," there's an immediate unspoken group effort to go into Naptime Mode: collect supplies (blankets, water, snacks, outerspace-Advil), leave Hunter the hell alone, and make as little noise as possible for the next few hours.

like, Hunter literally does not have to ask them for quiet time anymore, they already know. (sometimes even before Hunter himself does!)

on that note, Hunter himself does usually recognize his own physical warning signs. like, he feels fatigued in a specific way, or his eyes or head aches in a particular way that's only from overtiredness.

like Crosshair, Tech can power nap anywhere at anytime. he just choses not to because he hates napping - he'd rather be working on something

so it usually ends up being that Tech falls asleep in the middle of something while he was just "resting his eyes for a minute"

Wrecker, as we've basically already seen, can and will nap anywhere at anytime.

but not quick power naps - he tends to fall into a deep and long nap, and it can be hard to wake him up

like if he falls asleep whilst on you in any way, you're screwed bc you ain't movin' for a while lol

Echo can't nap; and even if he could, he wouldn't. mostly bc he likes to be alert and/or ready at all times. but even when he's at ease, he's just not a napper.

when rest is needed, he's like more like Hunter, preferring the "close my eyes and try to relax" type of 'napping'

and hey, how about a couple fun bonuses? :P

Rex can only nap if he's physically in contact with someone he trusts (back-to-back sitting upright or laying down, lean on shoulder, using their stomach/thigh/leg as a pillow, etc.)

Gregor has unintentionally perfected the art of "fake napping." similar to Hunter and Echo, he can't fall asleep during a nap, but he will shut his eyes and relax. however, unlike the others, he's very calm and relaxed when he 'naps', so much that it always looks like he's sleeping.

(Gregor hears a lot of gossip and shit this way; people always assume he's really asleep, so they talk about whatever around him, but he's actually hearing everything lol)

Gregor also prefers to be physically in contact with someone when he 'naps'. even more than Rex. if Gregor can wrap himself around a limb or do a full body cuddle up, he will!! and it doesn't matter who lol

(for Rex it's a feeling of safety thing; for Gregor it's just because he's naturally a 'touchy-feely' type person)

Me Infodumping about The Black Cube

Warning ahead! All this info is from memory and this post may or may not be super duper long! There are no images because I aint screenshotting all of that at 9:35 PM, so if you don't like long posts then do not read! If you're cool, then that's great! Thanks for sticking around! Anywhizzle, down to business.

SO! One of my favorite episodes from Wander Over Yonder is titled The Black Cube, and it's about the guy literally called Cube of Darkness. He's straight up just a floating black cube that can eat souls for breakfast. Unfortunately, he lost his villain permit and led a life of a minimum wage Starbucks employee in a world far too similar to our own!

There are so many elements of this episode that strike me as realistic and intriguing all at once and so I am gonna go on and on about it all!

For starters, there's the world itself. Everything surrounding Cube is very gray and bleak, everything looking like modern life in the city of Boston. Trust me, I live very close to the city of Boston and the setting in this episode is way too familiar to me it looks exactly the same. Not only does it look depressing, it is depressing. Everyone here is fucking depressed and sad and alone. I mean, I am exaggerating a little bit, but just imagine real life and you have the character trait for everyone here.

Now, this episode is all about a day in the life of Cube. He lives here. In this bleak, depressing, grayscale world. And due to his color and his background, he fits right in! Well... Sort of. You see, Cube has no hands. And because of this, he's been relentlessly bullied and has a continuous streak of bad luck, despite his ability to LITERALLY SUCK OUT PEOPLE'S SOULS??????????????? It makes sense but at the same time it doesn't. So because of all this, Cube is seen as just your average joe, the guy who has all the bad luck in the world and can't seem to see the good in anything. I mean, fair, his landlord literally yells in his face about the rent and his boss at work doesn't treat him fairly.

I actually wanna touch on that! Nobody treats Cube very well! Nobody likes him, which is also kinda understandable since he was previously a super powerful villain, but they can all see that he's trying to become better! And yet... No change happens. Every day is the same.

Also. Mans has no hands. Kinda important things to have if you wanna live in Boston of all places.

Everything finally starts looking up for Cube only when Wander appears, and from here on out we can constantly see Cube start to embrace the more mediocre parts of himself that others despise greatly! He isn't so sad anymore, isn't as depressed as the others, but nobody really cares.

I just cannot wait for the day Lindy Ruff is fired.

I am tired of having the tiny hope I have be taken away every damn game.

I am tired of seeing the players, who are clearly just dun not in the sense that they aren't trying but in the sense that they have gotten used to the disappointment that is this season, be exhausted every game, especially when players like Daws, L. Hughes and literally anyone else who is showing signs of stress clearly aren't playing in tiptop shape.

I am tired of Lindy sounded disappointed any time he is on screen, no matter if we do well or not that game, it's consistent disappointment and disinterest when I hear him talk and it sucks.

I am tired of New Jersey somehow finding a way to be a joke even in the sports world with our ONLY major professional, this team is many people only knowledge of Jersey and yet we are STILL a joke or something to just not be respected.

I am tired of every game where everyone is sure this just HAS to be Lindy's last game and yet somehow he is still there the next time we play, that somehow someway he probably won't be fired till the end of the season and EVEN THEN who knows if he actually will me.

I am tired and over it but I'll still be watching the games, I'll still be there when we lose once again, I'll still be there talking to Sky saying shit about how much I hate Lindy and how he is running this team into the ground, I'll still be complaining about Ruff to my parents because they have to know everything wrong going on.

I'll still be here because just because a team is doing shit doesn't mean you should drop it just because of that, that just shows you weren't actually a fan in my opinion.

I have far too much state pride for my own good because I genuinely love this state and love this team, so I'll stick through the good and the bad, continue to be slightly angry with myself for not being able to get into hockey last year when we were badass.

And I'll still be watching and eventually buy more stuff for the Devils because let's be real, the second that sales drop and the Devs aren't as popular the club isn't stay in Jersey, so might as well support the bastards ya know?

And hey, who knows, maybe one day we shall see Lindy gone and this team flourishing, but until then I'll just keep being sorta upset that we aren't doing as well as we can and drinking my problems away (this is a joke and I promise it's just water, Liquid Death specifically).

⠀⠀⠀Truthfully, Ruby's thought a lot about what it might be like — the inevitable run-in that would leave her and Neopolitan face-to-face. But, this island being the way it is... it was as absurdly mundane as she likely should've expected. As luck would have it, they quite simply happened to turn the same corner at the same time in the same freaking corner store. It's almost comical the way her own shoes squeak against the linoleum as she skids to a halt, but she definitely wasn't laughing.

⠀⠀⠀There's a lot of... conflicting feelings at play. The woman's plagued her mind for days now, but when she tries to understand why there was so much dread in her heart... she can't. Now that she's in front of her, all she can think about is how Blake was walking after their encounter, and how she looked when she explained the situation through gritted teeth — but Ruby knows that emotion quite well. It's bubbling anger, righteous and indignant... a far cry from dread that would randomly grip her chest several shades too tight, or have her waking in a cold sweat. She knows Neo's unarmed — or more accurately, lacks her preferred weapon. There's nothing stopping her from acquiring a new one, is there ? Even so, despite how much her fingers itch for it, Ruby hesitates to draw Crescent Rose just yet. It feels wrong somehow... and yet it also feels like the type of wrong call that'd get her killed in the middle of the frozen aisle.

ah yes, it's that time of month where i reflect on how long i've been into kpop lol. im currently losing my mind bc i can't find the cd i bought that introduced me to kpop back in 2005/2006. like...it was basically a korean version of the 'now thats what i call music' cds with all the hits from that year or whatever. i found volume 27 of it on ebay but the tracklist has songs like gee by snsd and ah by after school and when those songs came out i was already pretty deep into my kpop phase lmfao. im fr stressing bout this because i had multiple volumes of this cd and i remember some of the songs I listened to but not all of them and i don't even remember which volume cd they were part of. plus it came with a dance cd and a ballad cd....i never listened to the ballad cds so i remember ZERO of those songs LOL

and to top it off, i still have literally never met anyone my age who got into kpop the same time i did or like listened to the same things i did. like i swear all of the kpop fans i met online back in the day were huge super junior or dbsk fans and were also teenagers already when i was still in elementary AHAHAHA i swear it was only after big bang, shinee and 2ne1 debuted i started meeting more people closer to my age who liked the same music as me.
