Lyrics:
Yeah, yeah
I don't remember much about last night
Woke up on a couch sunrise
Saw the living room
Through these bloodshot eyes of mine
Cold sober
You didn't like that I come home late
4 a.m. but it's a Friday, babe
And I've been working hard
Can't you give me some space
'Stead of shouting out, "Oh my God"
Whoa, oh yeah
Whoa, oh yeah
I go out with some new friends
But it just makes me miss you more
More
I spend all my money drinking on my own, yeah
In this bar, just sat here staring at my phone
And I keep second-guessing where did I go wrong?
I know I'm proud
But I've had one too many
Come take me home
So now I'm the one that's crying
I didn't wanna call 'cause I didn't wanna fight
I swear that I was trying, yeah
But everybody falls when their head's a little high
And I've never meant to get so out my mind
With you playing cool, just pretending it's fine
Oh, we've been 'round, 'round, 'round this
Too many times before
Whoa, oh yeah
Whoa, oh yeah
I go out with some new friends
But it just makes me miss you more
More
I spend all my money drinking on my own, yeah
In this bar, just sat here staring at my phone
And I keep second-guessing where did I go wrong?
I know I'm proud
But I've had one too many
Come take me home
I don't know how lucky
How lucky I am, I am, I am, no
I guess sometimes I should give more of a damn
A damn, a damn about you
I don't know how lucky
How lucky I am, I am, I am, no
I know we're both stubborn
Push each other's buttons
I'd rather do it with you, but
I spend all my money drinking on my own, yeah
In this bar, just sat here staring at my phone
I spend all my money drinking on my own, yeah
In this bar, just sat here staring at my phone, yeah
And I keep second-guessing where did I go wrong?
I know I'm proud
But I've had one too many
Come take me home

#at this point in my life#I just laugh when people insist that you’re ‘NoT a REaL FaN!!!!’ if you don’t support everything a given band does#or if you have a favorite member and don’t hesitate to make it known#(or *cough cough* take 1963-2020 Keith to be a better judge of musical integrity and what constitutes a true band than the contemporary man)#like…yeah? I have favorites. I’ll be honest if I hate what they’re doing. and?#I’m not Dmitry Peskov#and unless I missed something. they don’t pay me to get on here every day and kiss their ass#so I’m not going to feel very bad for saying some album graphics are ugly or drumming drags#they’re old rockstars not deities. no matter what their particular delusions may be#((also. lost my sense of taste three days ago. and struggling to eat. so I’ve got to find my laughs somewhere))

Brian Kelly
Physique: Average Build Height: 5′ 8″ (1.73 m)
Brian Keith Kelly (born October 25, 1961) is an American college football coach. He is the head football coach at Louisiana State University (LSU), a position he has held since the 2022 season. Kelly served as the head football coach at Grand Valley State University from 1991 to 2003, Central Michigan University from 2004 to 2006, the University of Cincinnati from 2006 to 2009, and the University of Notre Dame from 2010 to 2021.
He is boner inducingly cute. This is the kind of man I could spend hours with. Look at him, he is crying out for a good ass-pounding. Well, he would probably be a top, but you get what I'm trying to say.
A native of Everett, Mass., Kelly was a four-year letterwinner at linebacker and two-time team captain at Assumption College in Worcester, Mass. He graduated from Assumption in 1983 with a degree in political science.
Well of course he’s married, he and his wife Paqui have three adult children; Patrick, Grace and Kenzel. Wait… Word on the street is that Brian filed for divorce and then reconciled three days later. Is there a crack in the marriage where I can wedge open with my sweet ass and penis? Enquiring minds want to know.

Remembering OldIzNew... and Gloria Dawn.
Gloria Dawn is a classic men's magazine model that was active in the early sixties. She began posing in early 1962 working with many of the top photographers of the day like Peter Gowland, Ron Vogel, Elmer Batters and Keith Bernard. After a busy couple of years she retired from modeling at the end of 1963 and enrolled in college in 1965, getting her PhD from McDill in 1971.
Gloria worked with OldIzNew to get the colorization of her photos right. The first pic above is by Elmer Batters.
Gloria has her own site at https://gloriadawn.wordpress.com/ providing her own photos and recounting her days as a model. Unfortunately, while the site is still up, updates stopped in January of 2020.

Having another costume moment bc I'm not well in the head and I think it's VERY interesting that the more overtly "rocker"-ish aspects of Crowley's design and performance were somewhat pulled back (his hair being short for the actual present-day of the show, for instance) so he would actually feel modern - I think this is a good idea, because as a result you do actually get the notion that Crowley is a millennia-old immortal being keeping up with human trends and not that he's a guy in his fifties trying to "look cool." However there ARE undeniable rocker influences there (that's uh. probably why I see so much of Me in him lmao) and THAT'S interesting because it ends up feeling EXTREMELY modern. In toning down the most obvious and/or outdated Keith Richards-David Bowie-Lou Reed-70s glam aspects of the character, I really think the show manages to, whether intentionally or not, almost PERFECTLY recreate the kind of "vaguely androgynous, pseudo-bisexual Britpop/glam rock revivalist" thing that got very popular at the end of the 2010s and the beginning of the 2020s (the very time period the show is set in). So what I'm saying is Crowley is basically Harry Styles and this is a good thing
#open mick night#good omens#gomens#crowley#good omens meta#what do i even fucking tag this as. god#i loveeeee costume stuff i LOVE rock history more than anything in the world please talk to me about it

July 27, 2020
Spencer was heading back to Vancouver late tonight taking a red eye flight from St. Louis.
He’s been thinking about telling his parents about his sexuality more since he’s been home the last few months because of quarantine.
Spencer knew he was eventually going to have to tell him parents and Brady and Taryn and he just wants to get it over with especially if it’s going to end bad he would rather know sooner than later.
He packed all his bags for Vancouver already just in case and Taryn and Brady are out at a lake today and Matthew is at a workout before he has a flight also around the same time as Spencer so it is just Spencer and his parents home so the perfect time for him to tell them.
Spencer took a deep breath clenching and unclenching his firsts before getting off his bed and out of his room walking down the hallway and down the stairs seeing his parents sitting on the living room watching a hockey game and his mom knitting a blanket.
Spencer cleared his throat making his mother look up at him and his dad continued to look at the TV.
“Yes Spencer?” Chantal asked smiling looking up at her son.
“I have something to tell you two.” Spencer put his hands in his sweatpants pockets.
“Be quick with it.” Keith waved his hand dismissively still focusing on the game.
Spencer shook his head use to his dad being the way he is.
“I’m gay.” Spencer blunty told them.
“What did you just say boy.” Keith whipped his head from the TV glaring at his son in anger.
“I’m gay.” Spencer lifted his chin up definitively and narrowed his eyes challenging his father, he expected a bad reaction with his dad.
Chantal bit her lip looking between the two cautiously.
“No you are not.” Keith angrily spat, “No blood of mine will ever be such filth. Fix it.” Keith raised his voice glaring at his son for even suggesting he could be gay.
“No i won’t.” Spencer clenched his fists in his pockets tightly and squared his shoulders.
“No son of mine will be a fag.” Keith roared standing up and stepping to Spencer. There use to be days his son would be bow down and night fight him but he seems to forgotten how to listen.
“Well he is.” Spencer spit out not at all afraid that his father is getting closer to him, it is not anything new. Spencer felt hurt that this is what his father thought of him but he wasn’t surprised.
“Enough.” Matthew snapped putting a hand on their father’s chest stepping in front of his little brother protectively. Matthew had came home hearing their father yelling and quickly walked in.
“Move out of the way Matt.” Keith snapped back struggling against the hand.
“No, you won’t touch Spencer, you won’t ever touch him again.” Matthew snapped protectively, he couldn’t protect himself and Spencer when they were younger but he could now.
“Why don’t we all calm down.” Chantal hesitantly suggested with an awkward smile.
Spencer shook his head in disbelief and looked at the mother who use to clean him up after the wounds from his father and Spencer use to think so highly of her but now he realized she is just a coward.
“You are going to let him say all of that mom.” Spencer questioned in disbelief feeling his fingernails breaking through his skin where they were set in fists.
“I- Honey it’s your Dad.” Chantal tightly smiled looking at her youngest son pleadingly.
Keith just rolled his eyes.
“I use you to think you were so brave for marrying and staying with a man like that but now i realized you are a coward.” Spencer spat out of the frustrations and hurt he has felt over the years as he watched his mother never help Matthew or him with their father, her husband.
Chantal flinched looking extremely hurt.
Matthew kept a wearily eye on their father but let Spencer get out the words he deserves to finally get out.
“You watched as he treated Matthew and I the way he did and did nothing but excuse him for it because he was our Dad. You should have protected us instead you made us hide.” Spencer shook his head in completely disbelief and for once he did not care that he knew these words were hurting his mother, she needed to hear them.
“I am gay.” Spencer turned back to his father and narrowed his eyes challenging him, “I like guys that is never going to change, it has always been like this.” Spencer watched as his father got angrier.
“I do not need you approve because it does not matter to me.” Spencer firmly spoke glaring at his father one more and giving his mother another disappointed look before leaving the room and knew Matthew was following right behind him.
“Go get your stuff we will leave early.” Matthew whispered to his baby brother as they left the living room, he was glad he got home when he did and he’s glad he has his suitcase in the car already so they can head to the airport early.
Spencer nodded and quickly jogged up the stairs and grabbed his suitcases and backpack and quickly came back down the stairs seeing Matthew glaring at their father who followed them.
“If you leave this house boy do not ever come back.” Keith yelled watching as Spencer and Matthew walked to the front door.
“Goodbye then.” Spencer spat back and shook his head walking out with no hesitation.
Matthew followed right behind his brother and helped Spencer but his bags in the car and quickly hopped into the drivers seat and Spencer in the passenger seat.
Matthew started the car and drove away quickly, he was on the rode for a few minutes and he heard little sniffles.
Matthew knew exactly what the sound was and pulled over on the road and looked over at his baby brother who was sniffling quietly trying to keep his tears at bay.
Matthew frowned sympathetically and leaned over the center console wrapping his arm around his baby brother’s shoulder.
“I don’t know why i’m upset it’s not like it wasn’t what i expected.” Spencer sniffed looking up and blinking rapidly trying to stop his tears from falling anymore.
“You are still allowed to be upset Spen.” Matthew sternly told him.
Spencer softly nodded and rubbed his face giving Matthew a reassuring nod, he just needed to get out a little emotion.
“You sure?” Matthew doubled checked, he knows his baby brother doesn’t like showing a lot of vulnerable emotion in front of anyone so for him to show any is always a surprise.
Spencer nodded and Matthew leaned back over and started driving the car once more.
Spencer looked down at his hands seeing the imprint of his fingernails on his palm and put his hands back in his pocket ignoring the blood and the open wounds.

Matthew Tkachuk Daddy Issues primer
1) https://floridahockeynow.com/keith-tkachuk-rips-the-florida-panthers-calls-them-a-soft-team/
“This is do-or-die for the Panthers right now,’’ Keith told First Up with Korolnek & Colaiacovo. “I watched them the other night and I know I am staying at Brady’s house and Brady’s team played really well. They have some jam and, you know, I am a little disappointed with the Panthers.
“They are a soft team and they are getting everything they deserve right now.” To continue on that point, Keith Tkachuk said for the Panthers to snap their losing streak in Toronto, they need to bring a little more toughness to their game.
“Instead of trying to get autographs on the ice from Matthews and Marner,” he said, “they probably should check them a little harder. Whatever it is, it is disappointing. I know I sound like a frustrated person, but I know every time I come and watch Ottawa, they may not be the most talented team but they’re going to play hard. Perhaps Florida could take a page out of their book.”
2) https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/senators-brady-wins-tkachuk-battle-bettman-hints-lebreton-flats-a-little-small/
There was a “Brady is Better” chant at a game when the two brothers played each other, and Keith was at that game. Some speculate that Keith started it.
3) https://www.bladeofsteel.com/Keith-Tkachuk-explains-why-he-would-not-throw-his-hat-for-his-son-hat-trick-goal-126638
Keith refusing to throw his hat for Matthew’s hat trick, even when Taryn and Brady were also at that game.

[On the family chalkboard in the kitchen] “It’s always like, ‘Happy birthday’ or ‘Welcome home, Brady!’ or ‘Can’t wait for you to leave, Matthew,’” said a chuckling Keith Tkachuk.
xxx
[A little insight into Matthew being the intense one and Brady being easier to get along with]
It’s an interesting snapshot because Matthew, a fiery competitor who was twice suspended by the NHL last season, is smiling, while Brady, a happy-go-lucky personality, is scowling.
“This picture is great because now it’s the opposite,” Keith said.
“That’s so true, so true,” Chantal said.
xxx
Chantal reads everything about her boys, too, noting that she is a subscriber to The Athletic.
“I like it,” she said.
“Except when they gave Brady a bad draft rating,” Keith said.
xxx
Keith then reminded his kids, “You guys better get your butts to the store and get some cards for your mom.”
“Actually, Matthew bought me a Mother’s Day gift this year,” she said.
“He had to have gotten you something that benefited him,” Keith responded. “What did he buy you, like eight beers or something?”
“No, Lululemon shoes,” Chantal answered. “He’s a great gift giver now that he has his own money.”
“It’s the least I could do,” Matthew said.

“He has that face you just want to punch, according to other players,” said his father Keith.
“I’m sure if I played against him, I’d go after him, too.”
“This kid, I find a lot of flaws in his game because I’m his dad, and that’s what dads do.”
“I love the fact that he plays with an edge,” said Dad. “I told him that I’d rather see him sit out a game for being too aggressive than sit out a game because he’s soft.”
6) https://www.bardown.com/brady-matthew-tkachuk-s-parents-explain-why-they-re-happy-their-kids-aren-t-in-the-same-conference-1.1121784
Chantal, by the way, told me she is happy Matthew and Brady are not in the same conference. Keith said: “I’m glad too. I don’t trust Matthew.”
7) https://theathletic.com/1984477/2020/08/10/its-distinctly-matthew-tkachuks-postseason-presence-drawing-rave-reviews/
“Keith wanted Matthew’s coaches to push him as hard they could. He would tell me, ‘You can be more demanding,'” said Granato. “It’s delicate because, as a coach, you have to consider how hard you can push a guy. And you love the guys you can push harder. Those are the guys you fall in love with as a coach. With Matthew? There was no limit.”
8) https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/tkachuk-brothers-vibrant-personalities-stem-from-colourful-st-louis-roots/
Keith said he remembered watching Matthew on the After Hours segment on Hockey Night in Canada as a rookie, conducting the whole interview with his head down.
“I said, ‘What are you doing? Get your head up and talk,’” said Keith.
“But now it’s like this (as he snaps his fingers).
“I watched Matthew interviewed last night and he was pretty good. He adds some normal stuff to it that people like. It’s not about the same answers. He does a good job.”
9) https://theathletic.com/4503016/2023/05/10/matthew-tkachuk-florida-panthers-nhl-playoffs/

Q: "What sort of text message do you think you'll get after getting five points against the team your dad works for?"
MT: "Um, I'm not sure, I'm sure he would have, I don't know maybe I'm putting words in his mouth--I'm not even going to say it, what I was about to--but he probably wanted it to be an OT game but for us to play well. Um, I don't know who he wanted to win the OT game but uh, no he, he, it doesn't matter what team he works for but he's obviously my [and] my brother's biggest fan and great mentor and obviously not only him but my linemates and teammates know how much I want to win against those guys, hometown team lots of people watching, same as, we got a lot of guys from Toronto, its like when we go to Toronto we want to win that game for the guys that are from there, tons of people watching so, I don't know exactly what he'll text me. Maybe he went to bed early and I won't even get a text I don't know."

Portland: America's Last Bastion of Normalcy
In my congressional district, local media is now projecting that Janelle Bynum has ousted incumbent Republican Representative Lori Chavez-Deremer. As terrible as election day was on the whole, I am grateful that I'll be represented by a Democrat in Congress once again, and I'm glad my neighbors made the right choice in sending Bynum to Congress. Meanwhile, across the river in Washington state, Democratic incumbent Marie Gluesenkamp Perez has won her rematch against Republican challenger Joe Kent. This was a result that thrills and honestly confuses me. Perez's 2022 victory over Kent was one of the night's bigger upsets, largely chalked up to Kent being basically a White supremacist. But clearly the lesson of 2024 is that that's no longer any object, and if you told me ahead of time that election night would see a broad-based "red shift" compared to 2020 I would have been dead certain that Perez was absolute toast. So why exactly did this nut crack? I don't have an answer to that,* and I acknowledge that Perez has annoyed Democratic leadership before. But she seems to have some ideas of how to present progressive priorities in a way that speaks outside of our current base (e.g., her championing of "right to repair" laws, or pairing student loan debt relief with "dollar-for-dollar ... investments in career [and] technical education"), and she is a voice worth paying attention to going forward. Needless to say, both Bynum and Perez bucked a pretty terrible national trend. As most of the country embraced the chaos and the void, the single, solitary exception was the Pacific Northwest. Here, we rejected crude reflex and base instinct. And it's not just the local congressional races. In the Portland mayor's race, we didn't pick the woman who thinks the law doesn't apply to her just because she's "progressive", and we didn't pick the man who wants to execute the homeless because he promised "law and order". Our new mayor is going to be Keith Wilson, whose major appeal in the field, from my vantage point, is that he seemed like a normal, good guy making reasonable efforts to resolve the problems in front of our city. That shouldn't always be enough, but in the field we had it was better than all the alternatives. In my city council district, I felt like we had a plethora of good candidates to choose from, and the three winners all were among my top six picks. Here too, I'm very happy with the choices offered and choices made, and none of them seem (yet, anyway) like kooks, cranks, or gadflies. I'm optimistic that they will be diligent and attentive public servants when they enter office, and again, that's not something I take for granted anymore. It is, of course, quite off-brand for Portland to be America's avatar of normalcy. Locally, we're more used to embracing our "weird" identity, nationally, our reputation is something like that of a post-apocalyptic drag show. "Normal" is not historically our forte. But for my part, I am so, so happy that this is the city my wife and I have chosen to build our life in and raise our child in. Portland is a great city. It is full of great people, great beauty, great resources, great activities, and great values. I'm under no illusions that anywhere, blue states included, will be "safe" in the coming years. But there are very few places I'd rather be than here, and if you're looking for a new place to call home, I'd encourage you to look our way. * One thing I will say, and someone inundated with ads for the Perez/Kent race, is that Kent went 100% all-in on anti-trans fearmongering. The result was Perez likely expanding her margin of victory in an otherwise red wave year. Take from that what you will. via The Debate Link https://ift.tt/91uKjqv

Presently, [...] [a] scholar doing [...] expansive work on the relationship between disability and incarceration is Liat Ben-Moshe. Ben-Moshe has produced two books on the subject within the past ten years: Disability Incarcerated: Imprisonment and Disability in the United States and Canada (2014), and Decarcerating Disability: Deinstitutionalization and Prison Abolition (2020).
Disability Incarcerated is an edited collection that surveys the various iterations and sites of historical carcerality vis-à-vis disabled people: asylums, mental hospitals, state institutions, migrant detention centers, prisons, nursing homes, segregated schools and workshops. It is an accessible overview [...]. Decarcerating Disability, in contrast, is singularly authored by Ben-Moshe; it is an interesting attempt at utilizing the experience of disability incarceration and decarceration [...] in order to impart lessons and considerations of relevance to the present-day abolition movement.
---
Ben-Moshe’s Decarcerating Disability is unique in its explicit positioning within the framework of prison studies and the abolitionist movement [...]. Ben-Moshe also writes about the importance of centering “fugitive/maroon abolitionist knowledges” in advancing critical analyses of carcerality. [...] [S]ubjugated knowledges are “blocks of historical knowledges” that have been subsumed by “formal systematization”; that is, “ways of knowing” that have been dismissed, disqualified, or shunned by the hegemonic arbiters of reason.
In this schema, power “is not a centralized external force controlled by a limited few,” writes Ben-Moshe, “but is inside us, making us operate in particular ways, often by benevolent means, that is, ‘for our own good,’ [...].
Foregoing criticisms notwithstanding, Decarcerating Disability is a useful and welcome text insofar as it actively engages with the process of “letting go of hegemonic knowledge (of crime, of corrections and the dangerous few, for example).”
---
On a practical level, Ben-Moshe articulates responses to many of the common questions that abolitionists face, including: what to do about interpersonal or community safety; are non-carceral solutions practicable; why are certain people and behaviors criminalized; and, in the words of Angela Davis, what kind of “social landscape” would non-carcerality necessitate and entail. [...]
Since reaching a high-point in the late 2000s, the overall rate of [formal prison] incarceration has been [technically] declining [in some places] [...]. This, however, should be kept in perspective - the United States still remains the world’s leader in youth criminalization, with nearly 700,000 youth arrested annually (almost 10 percent of whom are arrested in schools) and over 43,000 youth incarcerated on a given day. [...] [T]he lessons of the previous example of decarceration counsel caution and vigilance. Ben-Moshe argues that deinstitutionalization with regard to physical space [has been achieved in some places] [...] ; but insofar as deinstitutionalization was not accompanied by a widespread rejection of the paradigm and logic of coercive, carceral “solutions” to disability writ large, institutional and carceral regimes of marginalization have cropped up and even expanded [...]:
Today those who were discharged or never institutionalized are still under the surveillance of the . . . state, but it has furthered its reach - adhering to strict drug regimens, living in semi-institutions (group homes, halfway houses), and subjected to a variety of outpatient commitment laws and policies.

The General Election Fallout Post
Hello again; I, uh, forgot to visit Tumble Dot Com for a bit.
Anyway, I'm back. For now, at least.
And yes, Election Day has been and gone. So let's start with some anti-Tory schadenfreude: ROFL, LMAO, LOL, get fucked, idiots. Good riddance, rust in pieces, you will not be missed.
Unfortunately, the overall political picture is - well, let's be honest, for a massive anti-Tory defeat it's ended up more bleak than I would have considered likely.
Unfortunately, the Tories didn't quite collapse in the way I hoped - they had a very bad night, but they're still the official Opposition, so the party will survive as a corporate entity. And that means we'll probably get it back at some point, which I'm not exactly thrilled about.
Meanwhile Labour managed to produce the most flimsy landslide anyone's ever seen. I say flimsy because actually, they took fewer votes than they did in 2019 - remember how our good friends the wise and all-knowing centrists assured us that that was a true sin unto the ages, and we should all hang our heads in shame and never be seen in public again? Yeeeeaaaaah. Your boy Keith did worse, guys. Meanwhile, Labour's fraction of the actual vote-that-was-cast was ... actually not great, either, at 34%. While he won, it's clear he's not loved.
Yes, that's right, their performance is barely a percentage-point better than 2019. And, uh, about 10 percentage-points down on what the Very Serious And All-Knowing Opinion Pollsters claimed it would be. So yes, there's been another fuckie-wuckie from the pollsters; unfortunately, as they technically got the headline result right (if none of the details), I suppose they'll get away with it :(
(Rewards for failure; it's very on-brand for the 2020s, isn't it?)
The only reason last night's landslide happened was because the Tory 2019 voter-coalition disintegrated (though, not as far as the pollsters claimed it would - honestly, we're overdue a period of silence from those guys).
In fairness yes, Labour get to form a government and yes they have a huge majority. But, what they pulled off yesterday will only work once - there will be no second Tory collapse - and their economic plans in particular have some ticking timebombs under them. A hint: what if the GDP Growth Fairy doesn't visit these sceptred isles after all ... ? How will Starmer's leadership ratings cope once their fiscal rules force them to deliver another austerity budget? What will they cut? What public services or government departments will simply stop?
TBH I wouldn't be even slightly surprised if, even one year in the future, Starmer's ratings and his party's have imploded. Yes, I'm fallible and I could be wrong, maybe they'll land another massive landslide in 2029 - but I'm worried about the future.
This brings us to Reform, Nigel Farage's latest vanity vehicle/puppet party-shaped object.
Unfortunately, a lot of the ex-Tory vote went to Reform UK, and if there was any question that Refuck are actual full-fat fascists, then I think the recent mini-scandal put paid to that. (For those who don't know, some Refuck activists were recently caught on camera by Channel 4 News, literally calling for asylum seekers to be machine-gunned, demanding a police pogrom against LGBTQ people, and so on. In as many words. No dog whistles, no coded remarks or anything like that. It was literally - and horrifyingly - what it sounded like. A call for deliberate, directed State violence against minority groups. Centrists, please, if you can't see that for what it is, then please consider why that might be!)
So, given that Refuck have won 5 seats, we now have actual, unambiguous fascists in Parliament. And that was something that had never quite happened before - our politics could often be an awful cesspit but even during the worst parts of the post-2016 crisis we hadn't quite tipped off that ledge.
Not now. Yay us, I guess?
You can tell I'm not enjoying this post anywhere near as much as I wanted to, can't you?
Anyway, fuck the Tories, fuck their ex-MPs, fuck their remaining ones and as for the people who still voted for them in spite of everything, honestly, what's wrong with you? (Seriously - why? What do you see in them? They've done nothing for you. They spent lockdown pissed on expensive wine and laughing at you. Why are you still supporting them?)
The other news is that the Lib Dems are back. They've done a surprisingly-efficient job of turning votes into seats - in fact it looks like they barely wasted any votes anywhere, and so have managed to get from 12 seats to 71 - yes, 71! - while taking only about 12% of the vote. Well, credit where it's due, I suppose. And much as I will never forgive the Coalition for setting us onto the path of ruin that we're on, nonetheless during the campaign Ed Davey was the only person who actually seemed to be enjoying himself. It seems to have worked out - the LDs have had their best election result since the 1920s.
If you want to look for some (possible) rays of light in this mess ... well, the Green Party did relatively well. Their vote went up, and they now have four MPs, vserus 1 in the previous Parliament. (Full disclosure: I voted Green. I don't think they're perfect, I'm not a stan, but Sir Keith's "changed" Labour Party has obvious contempt and loathing for people like me so ... fine? We'll go our separate ways, then.) Much to my surprise, they came second in my constituency, which I genuinely hadn't expected. Apparently my vote was less wasted than usual, it would seem. And the Greens' growth happened in spite of them being resolutely ignored by the entire print and broadcast media, so apparently they don't need the media to keep making progress. It is possible that their growth could continue, and maybe another election-cycle might give us back a semi-worthwhile left-of-center opposition party ... but here I am committing the Sin of Optimism, aren't I?
Also, well, lots and lots of Tories are miserable today. Grant Shapps has had a case of the slaps, Rees-Mogg has been time-warped back to the 18th Century (honestly he'll probably be happier there, it's for the best for everyone) and Liz Truss got yeeted feet-first into the Sun. (Sorry, Sol.)
Also a lot of bootlicking newspaper opinion columnists are having a proper meltdown today, and that is genuinely funny. They certainly deserve no sympathy.
So yeah, the overall picture is a) good riddance to Sunak, b) fuck the Tories and c) oh dear goodness, it's somehow all still a mess.

Like I said already, I graduated high school this year. So naturally, because I'm somehow both lazy and busy at the same time, I don't draw anything for the occasion like I wanted to until the literal DAY before I start college. (Yeah, I'm not joking- my first day of college is tomorrow.)
Just because I've come this far since I joined Wattpad as a 7th grader doesn't mean I know how I did it. Oh, wait- yes I do. I do know. I guess I don't know my own brain. Anyway, it's because I had, and still do, a burning desire to reach out to you and tell you about all the silly little stuff I had on my mind. I also wanted to get to know people all around the cyber world who liked the same stuff I liked. (I hope I can find someone who does in my art college.) I wanted y'all to know that Unikitty and Minecraft: Story Mode were (and still are) my two most favorite things ever. For months, I begged my parents for it, and I eventually got it for Christmas. Over the years, I've come to like more shows, games and movies. I even realized that I liked doing musical theater, too. Since I joined Wattpad, I've expanded my posting to DeviantArt, this site, YouTube, and more. I've probably told you all of this many times before, but I say it for a reason.
As I also said already, high school was as fun of an experience as it was... interesting. I couldn't finish my freshman year, and I missed my entire sophomore year, and if you survived 2020, you probably know why. I still passed, though. I think that junior and senior year made up for that. I was in the school musical both of those years, I got to attend my first prom junior year, and I went to Thespian Fest senior year.
Maybe the real high school experience was the friends we made along the way, as I've joked. But I wanted to surround myself with people I could get together with. As SpongeBob said, "I only want to hang out with my friends." And I did, 'cause we made every day the best day ever, especially the night we graduated. (The trampoline park we went to afterwards had some killer chicken tenders!) I took one of my friends to see Elemental before she went out of state for her college. I still keep in touch with a lot of them. Still, I'm really gonna miss everyone, and I wish them luck in their future endeavors.
As soon as school let out, my family took me on a trip to celebrate the fact that I graduated, and I made a video about it. You can watch it on my channel if you'd like.
But, I digress! There are a bunch of people here who I've just gotta show my gratitude for. You guys are part of why I keep going in life.
For @joyseer24, @agent-egg, @sundove88, and @pinkiemeowstic89, some of the earliest people I remember interacting with me.
For @erin-the-epic and @clg-artisa, who never fail to put a smile on my face.
(Also, special thanks to all the Unikitty fans here and on YouTube who called me out on my BS back in 2021.)
To @nevaehjwilliamsvaeh, a fan of Mao Mao and Six. I always love seeing you in my notifications!
@pocketlad, thank you for being my lad.
For @federthenotsogreat. It's nice to have a fellow Mario & Luigi fan to chat with.
@generalfoxy21, thanks for liking my posts and tagging me in your picrews.
To my fellow lovers of WALL-E: @cosmo-naute, @ohthewhomanity, and @defineshitposting. Computer, define friendship- the love that we shared.
For folks like @hazed-miner, @tailsofairies, and @milliemakesmistakes. Thanks to all of you cube kids for liking my Minecraft: Story Mode stuff.
To @choupiee. Anybody who likes both Unikitty and MC:SM stuff is a friend in my book.
There are also more Unikitty fans I have to thank, including @glitzycatart, @passionatepinkkittynew, @lizatheeddsworldaddict, @theunikingdom, and @doomlordsbutfunni.
@keith-neil, thank you for your Unitober challenge! I had a great time participating!
@askthechronoverse, I've got you to thank for liking my posts, reblogging them, and asking questions on the Big Bright World blog. And, thanks for keeping the Unikitty and Lego Movie fandoms alive. It's come to the point where I consider you a true friend, Fabri.
And to all my other watchers who weren't mentioned here, thank you for watching me and sticking by me. I don't know how to end this, so I'm gonna say that life is weird.

On this day, 10 years ago, on July 7th, 2014, "Doraemon: Gadget Cat from the Future" made its official US premiere on @disneyxd with the first episode (containing the segments "All the Way From the Future World" & "The Mecha-Maker")!
It was an English dub adaptation of the third "Doraemon" anime series, running since April of 2005 and still going strong! (with 700+ episodes as of July 2024)
The dub had an incredibly high profile set of voice actors, starring Mona Marshall, Johnny Yong Bosch, Cassandra Lee Morris, Brian Beacock, and Kaiji Tang as the leads (Doraemon, Nobita/"Noby", Shizuka/"Sue", Suneo/"Sneech", and Takeshi "Gian"/"Big G"), with Mari Devon, Tony Oliver, Max Mittelman, Keith Silverstein, Spike Spencer, Minae Noji, Kirk Thornton, Cristina Vee playing the reoccuring set of secondary cast of the show's characters.
The show centered around the life of a misfortunate boy named Nobita "Noby" Nobi who suffers from bad grades, bullying from his peers, scolding from his parents (his ferocious mom mainly), and is generally an awkward, lazy, kinda weird, and slow kid.
A robotic cat from the 22nd century named Doraemon is sent back in time to aid Noby in his life, pulling out futuristic magical gadgets from his pocket that can turn everyday human life into something much more every day.
Hijinks ensue when Noby ends up misusing Doraemon's gadgets, often continuously using them for his selfish (or selfless sometimes) benefits until things get incredibly out of control either through inconveniences, bullies, or just... really really poor choices.
Occasionally every now and then, the show has little half hour adventures, such as Noby & the gang helping a group of little people ("A Little Adventure"), Doraemon & Noby seeing aliens ("Invasion of the Goat Aliens", "Doraemon and the Space Shooters"), Doraemon & Noby going after a time capsule ("Doraemon's Time Capsule"), escaping from a villian from the future ("A Visitor from the Future"), but generally overall, the show is incredibly episodic and formulaic with the premise listed above.
The dub made numerous edits to the source material such as having the show's setting take place in a random no-name town in America instead of Japan, changing Japanese yen to American currency, removing content, motifying the character Shizuka's personality due to American viewers misunderstanding or getting confused over her original traits, etc.
The cast of characters were also given Americanized names, though these are confirmed to be just nicknames, with it being implied that they still have their original names in media such as Stand By Me Doraemon 2 (the English dub) & in the English manga.
It ran for a total of 52 episodes (with two 11 minute segments each with the exception of a few half hour specials that were dubbed, especially by season two) across two seasons from July 7th, 2014 to September 1st, 2015, being seemingly cancelled or sidelined by Disney quietly, with no official answer on the status of the dub.
According to Sneech Honekawa voice actor Brian Beacock via his TikTok on a stream from around 2020, Disney lost interest and didn't want to continue pushing the series.
The show continued to air in reruns after the conclusion of the second season on Disney XD until on June 20th, 2018, it got preempted by a rerun of Phineas & Ferb and has never aired again nor been seen again on American television (photo above courtesy of Collin LW)
And sadly, as of 2024, there seem to be no plans to officially re-release the dub via formats, as its not on DVD and Blu-ray nor is it available on watch on major streaming services with anime like Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, or Crunchyroll.
Though thankfully, thanks to the efforts of an unknown to my head right now fan, the entire English dub's episodes in 1080p logoless quality (ripped from "Watch Disney XD" before being removed) is currently available to watch online on Archive.org (& MEGA), being helped made widespread by Doraemon US superfan & voice actor Collin LW!
Despite receiving some particularly heavy negative reception from several fans of the original Japanese dub over the years since its existence came to be, the dub has generally received positive feedback from those who saw it, especially from its devoted cult following. Particularly for the voice cast's performances, heartfelt moments, the cute cartoony artstyle, the fun cast of characters, the original soundtrack by Joseph Bauer, and the sense of witty hilarious humor that's been favorably compared to the likes of the 4Kids dubs of the "Pokemon" anime from the 1990s and 2000s.
(What are your own personal thoughts on the dub? I'd love to hear in the replies and reblogs on your personal views and experiences on the series!)
Again, happy tenth anniversary "Doraemon: Gadget Cat from the Future"!
Thanks to everyone who worked to make this dub possible and exposing so much people to this wonderful, timeless, underrated goofy, silly, heartfelt little show!
Still hope we get more of the dub via either a dub of one of the mainline movies (cough cough Doraemon: Nobita's Earth Symphony cough cough) or maybe another dose of the 2005 series somehow on Netflix after their Stand By Me Doraemon 2 release in 2021 ^^

"Professor Neil Ferguson, the architect of Britain’s lockdown, today denied ever calling for the first national stay-at-home order – in the latest instance of lockdown backpedalling."
Professor Lockdown Denies Ever Calling For Lockdown
BY TYLER DURDEN
MONDAY, NOV 06, 2023 - 03:30 AM
Authored by Will Jones via The Brownstone Institute,
In one of the more bizarre moments at the Covid Inquiry so far, Professor Neil Ferguson, the architect of Britain’s lockdown, today denied ever calling for the first national stay-at-home order – in the latest instance of lockdown backpedalling.
The Mail has more.
Professor Neil Ferguson’s terrifying March 2020 models warned that 500,000 Brits would die unless tougher action was taken to curb the virus’s spread.
It spooked Boris Johnson into adopting draconian restrictions that saw the country told they “must stay at home.” Vaccines — considered the only safe route out of the pandemic — were still months away from being deployed.
But Professor Ferguson, who quit his role as a SAGE adviser two months after being caught breaking social distancing rules to meet his married lover, today insisted he didn’t tell officials to plunge the country into a lockdown.
He told the UK COVID-19 Inquiry that the situation was “a lot more complex.”
The inquiry is in its second module, which is examining core UK decision-making and political governance.
Hugo Keith KC asked: “Do you feel that you did confine yourself to the provision of scientific advice, or did you become, despite your best endeavours, irrevocably involved in determination of policy?”
Imperial College London’s Professor Ferguson, nicknamed ‘Professor Lockdown’ for his infamous modelling, said it was a “difficult question to answer.”
He said: “I know I’m associated very much with a particular policy.
“But as you’ll be aware from the evidence I’ve given in my statement and statements of evidence, the reality was a lot more complex.
“I don’t think I stepped over that line to say ‘we need to do this now.’
“What I tried to do was at times, which was stepping outside the scientific advisory role, to try and focus people’s minds on what was going to happen and the consequences of current trends.”
The epidemiologist drew heavy flak for his team’s modelling on the Covid pandemic.
Their work suggested 500,000 Brits would die if nothing was done to stop the spread of the virus and there would be 250,000 deaths if two-thirds caught Covid.
Worth reading in full.
Ross Clark in the Spectator says that perhaps the most remarkable revelation from Professor Ferguson’s inquiry evidence is that “he spoke to and emailed Ben Warner at No. 10 on March 13th, three days before the Imperial paper [Report 9] was published.”
Warner was a data scientist brought into Downing Street by Dominic Cummings and whom Cummings later credited for inducing pandemic alarm in No. 10, so Ferguson contacting him directly beforehand is significant.
However, Clark notes that in his email to Warner,
“Ferguson then stopped short of damning the Government’s policy of mitigation rather than suppression. In fact, if the Government decided to continue with mitigation, he wrote, ‘there is a rational basis to that decision which I would say the science supports.’ However, he added, the Government should make it clear how many people were likely to die.
“Intriguingly, Ferguson then went on to write: ‘This event is in the natural disaster category and the cure (e.g. massive social distancing, shutdowns) could be worse than the disease.’ In other words, he had at least considered the possibility that lockdowns could cause more damage than they were worth – but neither he nor anyone else seems to have tried to model this.”"
