Or, in this case, space vampires.
I've watched the first 35 minutes of that film about a thousand times. That much of it was good. After that it deteriorated into some sort of zombie apocalypse thing that didn't make much sense.
Oh, and I also love the score. I'll sit through the end credits just to listen to the closing theme song.

Pics of girls talking on the phone seems to have been a thing.
Note the long tangles of phone cord on the floor.
Back in the day, having more than one phone in a house, an "extension phone", wasn't a trivial thing. You weren't allowed to work on your own phones. If you wanted more than one, you had to call Ma Bell who would send out a technician to install it for you, and you got BILLED for each extra phone every month.
My Dad was a bit of a tinkerer, and he came up with a workaround. Somewhere he scrounged a long piece of suitable multi-conductor cable, disconnected our phone from the box on the wall (no plug-in, it was hard-wired) and spliced in the new long phone cord. Now, our phone could be used in every room of our apartment! You did have to deal with the tangle of wire on the floor that you dragged behind you, but that was a small price to pay.
More than once I heard muttering in the hall when someone traced the phone wire under my closed bedroom door and soon there was pounding on the door demanding that I GET OFF THE PHONE!!!
Ma Bell never caught us, and I assume there would have been hell to pay if she had.
