silent confessions

September 4, 2020

Spencer clenched his jaw frustrated as the buzzer went off in the arena and he watched as Dallas all skated together celebrating happily, he could feel the arena shaking from the crowd celebrating.

The Canucks were so close, getting to game seven of the series and losing 0-3 in the last game of the playoff series.

Spencer saw Quinn’s dejected face and skated slowly to him gently nudging him and Quinn looked over and felt his shoulders relax just slighty seeing Spencer.

The two slowly skated off the ice once they congratulated the other team and walked with the team down the tunnel and into the locker room.

The locker room was filled with a tense silence, everyone angry and upset with how close they got to the Stanley cup only to fall short.

Spencer started taking his uniform off once he sat on his stall and winced slightly feeling his body aching with exhaustion and feels many of bruises aching from all the hits he took tonight.

Spencer only slowly nodded to their coach and captains speech keeping his eyes on his skates.

Spencer got up as soon as everyone was finished speaking and headed straight to the showers and hoping right in underneath the scorching hot water and just closed his eyes standing under the water.

Spencer let out a long sigh leading his head back against the cold titles, he wished they were playing at home and he could he going home tonight rather than going back to a hotel room, even if he has been living in the hotel for the last month.

Spencer knew he had to come out the shower eventually especially since he could feel his skin wrinkling from being under the water so long.

Spencer was too tired to care to get back into his game day suit and threw a pair of sweatpants and hoodie and pulling his hoodie up over his head.

Spencer walked out of the showers and back into the locker room seeing it mostly empty and he’s not surprised knowing most of the team probably quickly showered and got on the first bus back to the hotel.

Spencer saw Quinn still sitting in his stall with his head leaning back against the wall and in comfortable clothes as well.

Spencer walked over to Quinn packing up his stuff from his stall and the movement made Quinn open his eyes and look over at Spencer.

Spencer gave him a tiny smile and got one back. Quinn scooted closer to Spencer as he watched Spencer pack up his bag, Quinn has been waiting for Spencer not wanting to go back without him.

“Ready to go?” Spencer quietly whispered the first words he has spoke in hours. Quinn slowly nodded and took Spencer’s hand to stand up and reluctantly dropped it as they started walking out of the locker room.

They walked through the hallway out to where the bus was waiting and Spencer followed Quinn up the steps into the bus, Quinn tiredly walked down a few rows of the bus and flopped down on one of the rows, Spencer sat down next to him and immediately Quinn leaned his head on Spencer’s shoulder.

Spencer leaned his chin on top of Quinn’s head staring at the windows as the rest of the team got onto the bus and the equipment was finished being loaded onto the bus.

The drive to the hotel was quick and Spencer and Quinn both got up and tiredly walked off the bus and into the hotel, Spencer clicked the elevator open and they stepped in.

He clicked the floor level and they waited in comfortable silence as the elevator went up to the floor.

Quinn walked out first and Spencer followed right behind him, Quinn opened the door to their hotel room and closed it once Spencer walked in.

Spencer slipped his shoes off and walked right to his bed flopping onto his back. Quinn slid his shoes off and empty his pockets turning his phone off and tossing it onto the nightstand.

Quinn looked over nervously at Spencer.

Spencer looked over at Quinn seeing him looking at him, Spencer blinked realizing what Quinn wanted and he opened his arms up.

Quinn perked up and quickly walked over and flopped down right next to Spencer and buried his head in Spencer’s neck and wrapped his arm over Spencer’s chest and he felt Spencer’s arm come up around him holding his tightly.

They have cuddled before especially as long or hard games or when they needed comfort but Quinn has never let himself cling to Spencer this much worried that Spencer would be able to see his feelings for him but Quinn didn’t even care right now if he was being obvious about his feelings he just wanted to be held by Spencer.

Spencer let out long breath and relaxed more nuzzling his head on the top of Quinn’s wet hair, Spencer has always enjoyed their cuddling but this was way better than anything they have ever done before.

Spencer hesitantly brought his hand up to Quinn’s head and gently ran his fingers in Quinn’s hair and Quinn made a soft but happy sound and Spencer felt him relax more.

Spencer didn’t know how long Quinn and him laid there in silence but he looked out the window and saw it was pitch black now.

Quinn knew Spencer had to feel something back for him because Quinn has never seen Spencer cuddle with anyone besides letting Jack cuddle with him and Spencer is very minimal with physical touch so Quinn knows it’s really special that Spencer is letting him cuddle with him.

Quinn titled his head up resting his chin on Spencer’s chest and caught Spencer just staring at him with a soft but loving expression and Quinn wondered how he didn’t notice how Spencer looks at him.

“Hi.” Quinn softly whispered leaning his face closer to Spencer’s.

“Hi.” Spencer mumbled back just as softly, Quinn was close enough he could feel his breath lightly over his lips.

Spencer and Quinn maintained eye contact and they knew. They knew they felt the same for each other.

Spencer slowly nodded and Quinn leaned closer once more and they finally connected their lips together. Spencer finally ran his hand across Quinn’s beard and brought his hand to the back Quinn’s head holding him to him.

Quinn let out a happy sound as they pulled back for a second to catch their breath before Spencer pressed his lips desperately back to Quinn’s.

“I-“ Spencer mumbled trying to get his words out which has always been difficult for him, especially when he’s emotional.

“I know.” Quinn softly interrupted Spencer gently caressing Spencer’s cheek, Quinn has learned to read Spencer and he understands what Spencer is trying to say.

“Me too.” Quinn mumbled back softly nudging his nose to Spencer’s.

“Yeah.” Spencer hopefully mumbled back and Quinn smiled nodding.

Quinn rested his forehead against Spencer’s.

“So can i say now how hot facial hair is on you.” Spencer mumbled with a small smirk, Quinn shook his head blushing as he gently pushed Spencer making Spencer throw his head back laughing.

Quinn face was flushed and he had a shy smile as he watched Spencer laugh before slowly calming down and looking back at him.

“What i like my boyfriend’s facial hair so what?” Spencer gently teased cupping Quinn’s face not feeling to nervous as he called Quinn his boyfriend for the first time.

Quinn just grinned even brighter leaning into Spencer’s touch.

Jack and Spencer walked together into the arena for the first day of the summer camp for the development program team.

Spencer was going to be staying with the Hughes for his two years in the program and Jack was so excited to live with his best friend.

The two have stayed in contact since they met almost a year ago and Jack makes them have almost daily face times and they end up doing homework together or setting their phones up outside and shooting pucks together.

Jack and Spencer are a surprising pair to everyone who meets them but the two clicked in a way that it didn’t matter they are so different.

Spencer opened the door to the locker room and let Jack go in first.

Spencer scanned the locker room ignoring the other boys in the room looking for his own name, Spencer saw him name above a stall and he looked to his left and let out a small not noticeable sigh of relief seeing Jack’s name next to him, and to his right someone named Cole.

Jack bounced over to his stall setting his bag down and Spencer followed behind in a much slower pace.

“I’m Trevor!” A boy with a big goofy grin told Jack and Spencer. Spencer immediately noticed how the boy was scarily similar in energy to Jack.

“I’m Jack! This is Spencer, my best friend!” Jack proudly introduced them, knowing Spence doesn’t like talking much and Jack has no problem talking for the both of them.

“This is Cole!” Trevor grinned goofily and gesturing to the smaller boy next to Spencer’s stall.

Cole waved softly and smiled, Spencer liked him a little bit right then.

Jack grinned back and Spencer and Jack sat down on their stalls.

“Oh and this is Matt and Alex!” Trevor introduced to Jack and Spencer once more as the two walked over to the stalls.

“Hello.” Alex greeted sitting on his stall next to Cole’s and Matt nodded sitting on his stall on the other side of Trevor.

The six had no idea how close they were all going to end up being.

“Hey Brads.” Quinn greeted his friend as he walked into the US National Team Development Program arena, it was family weekend so the arena was packed more than usual.

“Hey Huggy.” Brady greeted back his friend and looked down to his right where his little brother was standing, Brady clapped a hand on his shoulder, “Huggy this is Spencer, Spencer this is Quinn.”

“Hey.” Quinn nodded having heard about Spencer from Brady.

A fourteen year old Spencer just looked at the fifteen year Quinn and nodded and looked away.

Jack came skipping over, “Quinny!” Jack paused as he saw someone his age, “Hi i’m Jack! Do you play hockey?” Jack happily greeted and titled his head to the side curiously.

“Spencer. Yeah i do.” Spencer nodded back.

“I found a shooting room! Wanna come?” Jack happily offered and Spencer nodded and Jack gently grabbed Spencer’s wrist and dragged him away.

“I-“ Brady opened and closed his mouth in shock making Quinn look at him confused.

“What?” Quinn asked clearly confused.

“I’ve never seen my brother like anyone that fast let alone let them drag him away.” Brady looked so puzzled as Spencer never likes anyone nor that quickly either.

Quinn just shrugged.

“Are you playing here next year?” Jack questioned curiously and didn’t seem at all bothered by Spencer answering with a nod, “Good we are going to be best friends.” Jack stated he knew they were, well he was hopeful they would be because no one ever could deal with him long enough.

Jack beamed at Spencer’s nod and Spencer slightly smiled back.

Spencer looked out of the car window as Quinn was driving them, Spencer played with Quinn’s hand that was set in his lap.

They had just landed in Michigan coming back from Vancouver and were heading to see Quinn’s family and spend their offseason together.

Quinn pulled up in the driveway of the house and looked over seeing Spencer looking excited, Quinn smiled softly enjoying how much Spencer loves his family.

Quinn and Spencer got out of the car leaving their bags in the car for now and walked up to the front door, Quinn used his key and opened the door with Spencer walking in behind him.

“Mom?” Quinn called out and he heard her footsteps hurrying to him.

“Quinny!” Ellen beamed and rushed over pulling her oldest son into a hug, she pulled back and smiled even wider noticing Spencer, “Spencer!” Ellen beamed not knowing Spencer was joining Quinn.

Ellen quickly pulled Spencer into a tight hug having not seen him since before the quarantine and out of all of her boys friends Spencer has always been the one she was the closet to and considered him her son as well.

“Hi El.” Spencer softly spoke melting into the hug, over the years he’s known Ellen she has had acted a better mother than his own.

“Quinny didn’t say you were coming.” Ellen smiled softly as she pulled back from the hug and looked between her boys wanting to see any changes she might’ve of missed.

“Wanted to surprise you.” Quinn simply said knowing his mom would be happy with the surpise.

“Spency!” Luke beamed as he walked in from the backyard and saw Spencer and Quinn standing there, Luke rushed over and tackled Spencer into a tight hug.

Spencer and Luke have always had a special relationship both being the youngest out of their brothers and both being defenseman. Luke has always looked up to Spencer a lot and Spencer always is including Luke in everything which means the world to Luke.

“Hey Lukey.” Spencer smiled softly hugging him tightly and ruffling his curls, Spencer has always had a soft spot for the youngest Hughes.

“Gonna hug your brother too Moose?” Quinn sassed with a smile watching them hug each other.

Luke pulled away and dramatically rolled his eyes but walked over pulling Quinn into a hug as well.

“Jack! Quinn’s here!” Ellen called out just as Jim walked in and smiled at the two boys.

Jim walked over and pulled Spencer into a hug and clapped him on the back before walking over and hugging Quinn as well.

“Quinny!” Jack cheered as he ran down the stairs, he didn’t see Spencer standing behind Jim.

Quinn and Jack hugged before Quinn pulled away with mischievous smirk and turned Jack towards Spencer.

“S!” Jack choked out an emotional laugh and lunged forward meeting Spencer in the middle as they hugged each other incredibly tight.

Over the past year Jack and Spencer have barely seen each other at all and haven’t seen each other for months, the longest they haven’t seen each other ever.

“Hi J.” Spencer beamed as he finally got to be reunited with his best friend, something he had been waiting for.

Jack sniffed as he held onto Spencer so tightly, “We are never going that long again.” Jack mumbled, they first moved across the country from each other and went from spending all day every day together to seeing each other three times in a season and then quarantine happened and they didn’t see each other at all.

Spencer nodded quickly in agreement, he hated not seeing his best friend as often anymore and going so long not seeing him at all.

After a few minutes they two reluctantly pulled away but Jack stayed close to Spencer pressed against his side.

“I thought you weren’t coming for a few weeks?” Jack asked and frowned as he realized Spencer has grown more and now he has to look up more to look at Spencer’s face.

“Quinn convinced me to come early.” Spencer shrugged and sent a nervous glance at Quinn as they agreed to tell his family once they got in Michigan.

Quinn smiled softly and walked over to Spencer grabbing his hand, “Wanted him to come see you guys as my boyfriend.” Quinn proudly said looking at all of them.

Jack gasped happily, “Yes! Finally!” Jack loudly screeched as he looked at the two, “Hell yeah i win the bet!” Jack did a silly little dance as he had a bet going on with Matthew for when the two would finally get together.

Quinn and Spencer shared a fond eye roll honestly not that surprised their brothers had bet on them.

“Cool, Spency gets to stay in the family forever now.” Luke beamed softly happy to know his brother is giving him an awesome furtive brother in law.

Spencer chuckled at Luke looking at the younger boy fondly.

“I’m so happy for you boys.” Ellen beamed looking at the two proudly and has always known they were meant for each other, Jim nodded in agreement giving them a proud smile even he knew the two would be good together.

Spencer let out a sigh of relief glad they all took it well, not that he wasn’t surprised because they are so accepting but a part of him was worried he might mess us Quinn’s relationship with them all.

Quinn smiled softly grateful for the support from his family and squeezed Spencer’s hand softly.

“Now come on you have to tell me everything!” Jack demanded impatiently grabbing Spencer’s other hand and pulling him away from everyone else.

Spencer let out a fond snicker use to Jack and his demands, he looked back and smiled softly seeing Quinn watching with a loving smile.

Jack dragged his best friend up the stairs and to his bedroom and to his bed where teheh plopped and down and Jack looked expectantly at Spencer for all the details he has missed.

Quinn walked out of his bedroom running a hand through his tousled hair and found Spencer sitting on the couch reading and drinking a cup of coffee, which Quinn knows is probably at least the second cup of coffee already.

Quinn has learned more about Spencer since they stared rooming together and he’s enjoyed over the past season being able to see sides of Spencer that many don’t ever get the chance to see and now he gets to see another side of Spencer that’s only for him and hopefully will only ever be for him.

Quinn walked over and plopped down on the couch next to Spencer resting his head on Spencer’s lap.

Spencer blinked but brought one of his hand down and gently played with Quinn’s hair, he is still getting to Quinn being more affectionate now that they are together officially.

“Morning Quinny.” Spencer softly spoke closing his book and setting to down looking down at Quinn giving him all of his attention.

“Morning Spence.” Quinn softly mumbled back looking up at his boyfriend.

“Hey when are you going home?” Quinn questioned after a few minutes of sitting in comfortable silence.

Quinn frowned feeling Spencer tense up making Quinn sit up and look at Spencer in worry.

“No i’m uh not, i’m gonna stay here for a bit or go see Matt.” Spencer answered, he wasn’t ever going back to his parents house and only Matthew and Jack knew the reason why, “I’m gonna join the lake house in a couple weeks.”

Jack told Spencer he could come whenever he wanted because Jack knows what happened when Spencer came out.

“You’re not going home?” Quinn questioned looking confused but gently took Spencer’s hand that was clenched in a fist and gently unclenched his hand and rubbed Spencer’s knuckles.

Spencer cleared his throat, “My parents didn’t take it well when i came before i came back to Van.” Spencer softly explained, he’s accepted the fact that they don’t accept him and he’s moving on.

“Oh Spence.” Quinn softly spoke realizing what happened, he gently pulled Spencer into a gentle hug, “I’m so sorry.” Quinn couldn’t imagine having your parents not support you and felt terrible that Spencer has to go through that.

Spencer let out a small sigh and hugged Quinn back tighter.

“How about you come home with me?” Quinn nervously asked playing with Spencer’s hair, “And you can stay as long as you want and i know Mom will be so excited that you are staying. Jack and Luke will be both be so happy too.” Quinn rambled wanting Spencer to come but also noticing just how well Spencer fit in with his family.

“Okay.” Spencer nodded agreeing, he pulled back and smiled at the hopeful look on Quinn’s face.

“Really?” Quinn smiled happily and Spencer nodded once more with a fond smile making Quinn lean closer pressing their lips together.

“Thank you.” Spencer mumbled softly to Quinn, Spencer was so grateful to have Quinn every day and was lucky to call Quinn his.

“Always Spence.” Quinn softly promised pressing a gentle kiss to Spencer’s cheek.

Jack has been keeping a close eye on his best friend and brother over the past week, trying to make sure their relationship is going well and they both are happy.

Jack knows his best friend better than anyone and he knows his brother better than anyone, so he knows truthfully there isn’t anyone better for each other.

Jack was furious when he heard of what happen with Keith when Spencer came out and remembered how angry he was because of the restrictions he couldn’t go to his best friend to make sure he was okay so even though he wished he could’ve of been there for Spencer he is glad than even thought Quinn didn’t know he was there for Spencer.

Jack was hesitant at first when he found out Spencer liked Quinn as he did not know what he would do if things end badly between Quinn and Spencer, he has such strong loyalty to both of them he wouldn’t be sure who to side with, but seeing how happy the two are around each other he knew it was going to end up well.

Jack walked out of the lake house on to the back patio and saw Quinn and Spencer sitting together on one of the couches.

Spencer was sitting next to Quinn with his legs draped across Quinn’s lap and Quinn was gently rubbing Spencer’s ankle as they talked together.

Jack watched the two smile at each other softly and any worries he had left were gone and he was only happy that his brother and his best friend has found so much happiness.

“Hello my favorite people.” Jack playfully spoke plopping down next to Spencer and cuddling up to his best friend.

“Don’t let Lukey hear that.” Spencer teased his best friend while easily wrapping an arm around Jack letting him cuddle closer, Spencer was more than use to Jack’s cuddly nature.

“You do realize he’s my boyfriend yes?” Quinn playfully teased his younger brother seeing his cuddle up to Spencer, Quinn was not angry or jealous what’s so ever just happy they two are so close but he could never pass an opportunity to tease his little brother.

“You do realize he was my best friend first right?” Jack sassed back clinging onto Spencer more and glaring at his older brother.

Spencer just chuckled glad to be with two of his favorite people.

Trevor tapped his foot impatiently as he waited for the elevator to open up, he quickly walked out once the doors opened and walked quickly down the hallway and to the hotel room he was looking for.

Trevor quickly knocked multiple times on the door and was bouncing on his toes.

Spencer ran a hand through his hair as he opened the door and saw Trevor moving around, Spencer raised an eyebrow at him and stepped back letting Trevor step into his hotel room.

They were on a road game and had gotten back from their game a couple hours ago and is leaving tomorrow morning to go back to Michigan.

Spencer got lucky this weekend as there was an extra room so he got a room all to himself.

“I need your help.” Trevor looked at him desperately.

“With what?” Spencer warily questioned.

“I need to uh… go all the way.” Trevor raised an eyebrow.

Spencer eyes widen slighty as he nodded realizing what Trevor meant.

“For your newest crush?” Spencer looked amused as he asked, not surprised as Trevor is always crushing on someone new.

“Yeah. We were texting….” Trevor trailed off sheepishly as they were really flirting like crazy, “And he talked about hooking up with guys all the way. I don’t want my first time with him. I don’t trust him enough.” Trevor explained. Trevor didn’t want his first time to be with someone he didn’t trust.

Spencer and Trevor had made out many times since they kissed a while ago and have done quite a few other things with each other and being each other’s first but they never went all the way.

Spencer titled his head considering it, “Alright.” Spencer shrugged.

“Really!” Trevor lite up hopefully.

“You owe me.” Spencer grumbled but there was a slight fond smile on his face.

“Coffee on me for the whole month.” Trevor held out a hand for Spencer to shake.

Their whole friends group was obsessed with coffee or tea and now that they can all drive they are always spending their free time at a coffee shop, the six of them.

“Two months.” Spencer glared playfully and Trevor rolled his eyes but nodded as Spencer shook his head.

Spencer pulled Trevor to him as he shook his hand and leaned down pressing his lips to Trevor’s and leading them to the bed.

game seven

June 24, 2024

Spencer’s chin was resting on Quinn’s bare shoulder as he was laying behind Quinn with his arm wrapped around Quinn’s waist looking out the balcony door that he had opened so he could see the beach.

One of Spencer’s favorite places that he has surprising grown to love is Florida, he loves the warmth, the smell of the salt in the air, being so close to the ocean and being able to touch the sand so quickly.

Matthew had a room made for all of his siblings once he got his house in Florida and Spencer uses his room the most out of everyone. Matthew also never gave his houses address to his parents so it became Spencer’s safe space.

Since the Canucks were eliminated from the playoffs a few weeks ago Quinn and Spencer stopped in Michigan for a few weeks seeing Quinn’s family, spent a few days in New Jersey before their joined Spencer’s siblings in Florida for the Stanley Cup Finals.

Originally everyone thought the series was going to end in four games but the Oilers came back and now they are going into game seven.

It has been a pretty fun time traveling back and forth watching the games for Spencer and Quinn, it was pretty enjoyable for them as they weren’t playing and just got to watch.

Spencer traced the fresh scar on Quinn’s cheek, one of the only pros of not being able to sleep often is being able to look at Quinn for so much longer and just hold Quinn as he sleeps

Quinn eventually started shuffling awake and held onto Spencer’s arm that was wrapped around his waist.

“Morning Q.” Spencer softly whispered to Quinn kissing his cheek. Quinn sleepily smiled shuffling back and more into Spencer’s warm embrace letting Spencer nuzzle more into his neck.

“Morning Spence.” Quinn mumbled back closing his eyes as he enjoyed Spencer’s touch.

After a good while of the two just enjoying laying in bed holding each other they eventually both got out of bed heading to the shower and showering together before they got ready for the day.

Spencer would not be caught wearing anything Panthers so he put on a pair of black trousers, a black graphic t-shirt and a red jacket, he may not wear Panthers merchandise but he will slip some red into his outfit for Matthew.

Spencer slipped his shoes on and looked up admiring Quinn’s simple all black outfit and of course his black New York Yankees hat.

Spencer and Quinn eventually headed down stairs to the kitchen seeing all of Spencer’s siblings sitting around Matthew’s very large kitchen island.

“The sleeping beauties are awake.” Brady teased his younger brother and best friend, it still shocks him sometimes when he realizes the two are together.

“Yeah yeah.” Spencer just rolled his eyes at his brother ruffling Brady’s hair as he walked to the fridge grabbing a few ingredients for breakfast or really more lunch as Spencer and Quinn stayed in bed till past noon.

“Where Ellie and Em?” Spencer questioned his brothers as he started chopping up some fruit, he smacked Brady’s hand as Brady tried to grab the fruit, making Brady pout

“With some of the other girls, they’re meeting us there.” Matthew expanded making Spencer and Quinn nod.

Spencer finished making some food for Quinn and slid the plate across the counter to Quinn before Spencer put everything else away before sitting down next to Quinn with his own plate and started eating.

“I’ll see you guys after.” Matthew nodded standing up taking a deep breath and shaking his shoulders out, Brady nodded and clapped a hand on Matthew’s shoulder, Taryn bumped her elbow to his, Spencer gave him an encouraging nod and Quinn gave him a smile. Matthew let out a long breath before heading out of the kitchen and out of his house.

A little while after Matthew left the four all headed out to arena.

Spencer driving as usual with Quinn in the passnger seat and Taryn and Brady in the backseats.

Matthew knew he had to invite his parents at least for the public eye to the finals because it’s not public about the nonexistent relationship with Keith and most of his kids but especially with Spencer.

Matthew did not want to invite his father but if it got out that their relationship wasn’t good he would not be surprise if Keith spoke out why they aren’t close and out Spencer to everyone. So Matthew gave his parents tickets but away from his siblings.

Spencer, Quinn, Brady and Taryn arrived at the hockey arena and all headed in and to find their seats.

Spencer sat between Quinn and Brady and Taryn sat next to Brady.

Before they even realized the game was already over and the buzzer was ringing out through out the arena signaling the game was over and the Florida Panthers were Stanley Cup Champions.

Spencer was beaming as he realized his brother just accomplished his life long dream, he shook Quinn’s arm excitedly.

Spencer and Taryn looked at each other and shared a cackle at Brady’s tears making Quinn fondly shake his head at the two.

“Shut up.” Brady rolled his eyes wiping his tears as he elbows his two younger siblings.

Quinn did snicker at Brady’s tears but knew he won’t be any better when he watches his little brothers complete the same.

“Not you too.” Brady groaned looking betrayed by his best friend and Quinn just shrugged.

Spencer, Quinn, Taryn and Brady all headed down towards the ice, Quinn tapped Spencer’s elbow and gestured to where he was going to stay.

Spencer and Quinn talked about it and Quinn would rather he didn’t join them on the ice if Matthew won and Spencer was more than okay with that.

Quinn leaned against the wall as he watched the three step onto the ice and he kept a protective eye on Spencer as he saw Keith and Chantal step onto the ice as well.

Brady pulled Matthew into a hug first making them cling to each other and Matthew released his brother and Taryn lunged at him pulling him into a tight hug.

Spencer tensed feeling Keith step closer to him but took a deep breath not going to let Keith ruin Matthew’s day.

Spencer smiled watery as he looked at his older brother proudly and pulled Matthew into a tight hug, “Good job bud.” Spencer was so incredibly proud of Matthew and he thought out of him and his siblings Matthew deserves to raise the cup first.

“Thank you.” Matthew face was in a permanent beaming smile as he squeezed his favorite brother, his smile dimmed slightly once he pulled away from Spencer and saw his parents standing there.

“I don’t know why he is here.” Keith rolled his eyes gesturing to Spencer and was obviously going on to stay more but was interrupted by Matthew pulling him into a tight hug.

“Shut up.” Matthew coldly muttered into his father’s ear, He would never let his father say anything to Spencer ever again.

Keith grunted his jaw clenched obviously angry but reluctantly desired not to say any thin knowing Matthew could get him kicked out.

Spencer stayed far away from his parents as his siblings all made sure to stand in between the two not wanting their parents near Spencer ever again.

The four siblings all shared a look together not going to let their parents ruin Matthew’s big day so they basically ignored them as their celebrated with Matthew on the ice and watched his get the Stanley cup in his hands.

Matthew being the little rat he is tried to get Brady and Spencer to touch the cup and tried to chase both of them with the cup in his hands only to be stopped by Taryn making him pout that his fun was stopped.

The Tkachuck siblings took so many pictures together on the ice and it was a memorable time for all of them.

Spencer, Brady and Taryn let Matthew head into the locker room first and they would join him in a little.

The three walked over to where Quinn was waiting, Quinn walked over to Spencer wrapping his arm around Spencer’s shoulder.

“Good?” Quinn asked looking at Spencer in concern, He saw Keith and Chantal on the ice and was a little worried but knew Matthew would make sure nothing happened to Spencer.

“Okay.” Spencer nodded back, he’s grown to be fine with not having a relationship with his parents, it’s not his fault and he has a family still.

Quinn and Spencer shared a smile before they started heading to the locker room and starting a night that would not be ending anytime soon.

Quinn was in the hotel bathroom and getting ready to head out for the first game of the season. Quinn and Sebastian had gotten partnered up for hotels as they both are rookies.

Quinn turned the water off and he titled his head as he heard his little brother’s voice and realized Spencer was calling Jack.


Quinn tried not to listen to the call but he heard most of it.

“Hey you are gonna do great bud!” Jack beamed at his best friend, Jack could tell Spencer was a little nervous for his first NHL game but Jack knew the second he got on the ice Spencer would be fine.

“Stop S.” Jack gave him a very stern look snapping Spencer out of his head, “You are gonna play great okay and enjoy it okay.” Jack smiled softly.

Spencer nodded and stopped fiddling with his fingers, “Thanks J.” Spencer mumbled still surprised how besides Matthew no one other than Jack knows him better and Jack just seems to easily read Spencer.

“Please you are returning the favorite in a few days.” Jack half joked but was still serious as he knew Spencer would be calming him down before his first game.

Spencer chuckled already knowing he definitely would have to calm Jack down.

Quinn smiled softly hearing the conversation between the two, he always found it interesting how Jack always seems to make other sides of Spencer show up and the way Spencer always seems more like himself with Jack.

Quinn opened the bathroom door making Spencer look up at the sound and Jack followed Spencer’s eyes on the screen and saw his brother, “Hi Quinny.” Jack happily beamed.

“Hi Rowdy.” Quinn smiled back waving at the camera as he walked by to his suitcase.

Jack raised an eye brow watching the two exchange a look before they both looked away. Jack fondly rolled his eyes and was still shocked no on else noticed the tension between Quinn and Spencer. Not even Spencer and Quinn noticed how they looked at each other, Jack saw the googly eyes over the years and was waiting for two of his favorite people to get together and for them to finally realize their feelings for each other.

“I gotta go.” Spencer and Jack shared a sad smile as they were just living across the hallway from each other and now lived across the country from each other and was just playing on the same line together and now play on two separate teams in different divisions.

“Score a goal for me S?” Jack softly teased. Spencer nodded in agreement and waved by to the camera.

Spencer got a goal and an assist that night.

Spencer ran a hand through his hair as he set down his book on his nightstand and stood up for the first time in a few hours having been reading for a while.

Spencer and Quinn were alone for the day and they knew Elias was spending the day shopping with his friend that’s a girl but not his girlfriend yet.

Spencer had went to his bedroom to have some alone time and to give Quinn space as well.

Spencer walked down the dark hallway seeing the sun already setting and he knew they needed to eat dinner, he knocked on Quinn’s bedroom door, “Quinn!” Spencer called out and frowned only hearing a sniffle, “Quinn!” Spencer called out more worried.

He furrowed his brows before deciding and he quickly opened the door and didn’t see Quinn anywhere, Spencer walked through the bedroom and looked at the closet and saw Quinn sitting against the wall with his knees pulled to his chest and his phone on and laying on the floor next to him.

“Quinn?” Spencer softly asked and walked over gently kneeling down in front of Quinn, looking at him in concern.

“Are you okay?” Spencer soflty questioned and Quinn shook his head no still hiding his face on his knees.

Spencer frowned and looked down at Quinn’s phone and frowned even more seeing what he was looking at, He was on twitter looking under his name and Spencer clenched his jaw seeing all the disgusting hate comments.

Spencer quickly blocked that search on Quinn’s twitter and shut his phone off.

“Look at me Quinn.” Spencer softly demanded and gently grabbed Quinn’s wrist. Quinn slowly looked up revealing his tear stained cheeks.

“Do not ever listen to these people, especially people who are hating on you online, they don’t know you okay and they have no room to judge you and act like they have a right to talk shit about you.” Spencer firmly spoke, “You are an amazing hockey and you are not like Jack and Luke because you are Quinn and that’s perfectly okay.” Spencer softly and firmly reassured Quinn and Quinn softly nodded.

“You’re gonna do amazing things in the league and anyone who has ever hated on you or disagrees that you aren’t a good player you are gonna prove them wrong.” Spencer encouraged, he knew Quinn will continue to prove everyone wrong with his stats.

“Thank you Spence.” Quinn whispered he’s never had anyone who’s understood him and calmed him down like Spencer just did.

“Always Q.” Spencer felt his cheeks flush slightly at the nickname, a nickname only Quinn has ever called him.

“I think this calls for a cheat night.” Spencer mischievously grinned and Quinn let out a watery laugh as he wiped off the remaining of his tears.

Spencer stood up and put his hand out for Quinn to take, Spencer pulled Quinn up and still had to look down at Quinn.

Quinn felt his breath caught in his throat as he looked up at Spencer and it just clicked for him. He likes Spencer and Quinn wondered how he never noticed before. Quinn smiled softly and shook his head brushing off his thoughts until he is alone later.

Spencer was leaning against a wall away from the crowded house, Jack and Trevor begged their friend group to go to a party someone was hosting and Trevor seemed quite happy about who invited them.

Spencer looked around the filled house and saw Trevor staring at someone, Spencer titled his head curiously and looked at who Trevor was staring at and saw the boy who invited them. Spencer blinked in realization and realized Trevor liked the boy.

Spencer walked over to Trevor and looked over his shoulder, “You are being obvious.” Spencer deadpanned, He didn’t want anyone else to notice how Trevor was looking because Trevor hasn’t ever said anything about being anything other than straight.

Trevor’s head snapped towards Spencer in panic and his face paled, “W-What are you talking about!” Trevor panicked.

“Z.” Spencer firmly spoke and rested a hand on Trevor’s shoulder, Spencer guided Trevor through the house and down the hallway into a bathroom where the music isn’t as loud and locked the door behind them.

“How did you?” Trevor quickly questioned the second the door was closed, he didn’t know how Spencer figured it out so fast even though he isn’t that surprised because Spencer is creepily observant.

“It’s the same for me.” Spencer nonchalantly shrugged even if he extremely nervous on the inside, he’s never actually told anyone about being Gay and the only one who knows is Jack.

Trevor’s eyes widen and he relaxed and let out a breath, “I’m bi.” Trevor told Spencer even though he knows Spencer knows he wants to come out and say it.

“Im gay.” Spencer shrugged back.

Trevor smiled and nodded, “I’ve never kissed a guy before.” Trevor wagged his eyebrows at Spencer.

Spencer let out a fond scoff not even surprised that is what Trevor said, “Don’t say i never do anything for you.” Spencer quipped and walked closer to Trevor.

“I’m a treat to kiss!” Trevor gasped dramatically.

“Mhm.” Spencer sarcastically hummed and leaned down pressing his lips to Trevor, Trevor grabbed his hips pulling him closer.

“So!” Trevor smirked flirtatiously as they pulled away.

“Ehh could be better.” Spencer sarcastically smirked back.

“Spencie!” Trevor shoved Spencer slighty as Spencer snickered. “I’m wounded!” Trevor pouted dramatically.

“You will live you big baby.” Spencer sassed rolling his eyes.

The two both knew it wasn’t anything romantic between them but it was nice.

Matthew walked through his parents house down the hallway to his youngest brother and favorite sibling’s room, Matthew knocked a bunch of times on the door snickering at the sound of Spencer’s groan.

“Come in Matty.” Spencer said he shut his book close, Spencer knows no one but Matthew knocks on his doors like that.

Matthew walked in seeing Spencer sitting in his bay window with his legs stretched out while he was reading, Matthew walked over picking up his brother’s ankles and sat down dropping Spencer’s legs on his lap.

“So?” Matthew wiggled his eyebrows at his brother, Matthew had just got home last night after his hockey season and had a lot to catch up with Spencer.

“What?” Spencer looked confused.

“Come on! You had a hickey and promised to tell me everything when we both got home.” Matthew exclaimed grinning excitedly remembering face-timing Spencer and seeing a hickey on his neck.

Spencer blushed softly but shook his head in exasperation, “We just hooked up a few times this season.” Spencer kept his answer short. Spencer knew neither Trevor or him felt anything more than platonic for each other but it was nice to hook up.

Matthew nodded slowly, “Do you like him?” Matthew didn’t think Spencer did because he didn’t have this look in his eyes or on his face like he does when he has a crush.

Matthew was the first one to know about Spencer’s sexuality, Matthew knows how to read his baby brother and understood what he was feeling when Spencer came to Matthew confused.

“No.” Spencer quickly shook his head.

“What about Quinnier?” Matthew coyly questioned with a small smirk always enjoying noticing the small change in Spencer around Quinn.

Matthew may not be the brightest but he knows his baby brother and had a very strong feeling that one day Spencer and Quinn will end up together.

“What about Quinn?” Spencer titled his had confused not understanding what Matthew was suggesting.

“Do you like Quinn?” Matthew asked once more.

Immediately Spencer shook his head quickly, “No no i don’t.” Spencer vehemently denied.

“Okkkk.” Matthew did not believe him one bit.

Spencer Noah Tkachuk was born on April 14, 2001 and is the third born of his siblings, he has two older brothers Matthew and Brady and a younger sister Taryn.

Spencer was quite soft when he was younger and it’s something his father hated and would get angry at Spencer for so Spencer slowly stopped being soft and sweet and just more reserved and stoic.

Spencer and Matthew have always been the closest. Matthew saw how their father looked at Spencer when he was born and Matthew knows the look as it’s the same one their dad looks at him with, Matthew has always been extremely protective of his baby brother.

Spencer and Brady don’t have a super close relationship, they just were always put against each other growing up and it made them not as close. They still both care about each other a lot.

Spencer and Taryn are pretty close and Spencer has always been her favorite brother and she’s quite protective of him even if she’s the younger one.

Spencer met his best friend in the entire world Jack, when their older brothers met. The two are completely opposite but click in a way that is pretty incredible to see. Spencer trusts Jack with everything and definitely is softer with his best friend than he has been with anyone that wasn’t his family. Jack always gets in his head and is worried about not being good enough but Spencer always knows to get Jack out of his head.

Jack and Spencer loved the few years they got to play together in the program and Spencer stayed with the Hughes for that time, they both were pretty sad when they drafted as they are both so far away from each other now.

Trevor quickly became someone that is Spencer’s best friend, Jack and Spencer met Trevor and he just clicked with them perfectly and the three have been best friends since.

Cole is definitely one of Spencer’s best friends and Cole and Spencer are the more calmer ones so it’s nice for them both to get some peace and quiet with each other.

Luke has always loved Spencer and it meant a lot to Luke that Spencer never treated him like Jack’s little brother but just Luke, Spencer always made sure Luke was invited with them everywhere and Luke loved that he never got treated like a little kid with Spencer.

Spencer and Quinn have never been really close but that have always been somewhat friends, but once Spencer was drafted to Vancouver in 2019 Quinn immediately offered for Spencer to room with Elias and him. The two got to know each other as Spencer and Quinn not their brother’s friend during their rookie year and they got extremely close. Quinn and Spencer became each other’s safe space and shared stuff with each other they haven’t even said outloud before.

Spencer has always been a big fan of Demko, Thacther is quite calm and just a relaxing person to be around and Spencer enjoys hanging out with him and Lexi.

Spencer just seems to draw in kids and all of the kids on the Canucks absolutely adore Spencer and always begging for his attention, it’s very common for him to be just swarmed by all the kids.
