Gemma smiled fondly at her mother’s worrying and just let her mother ramble while she hugged her.

Gemma knew her parents were sad and nervous with Gemma moving out officially, it was a bit different than when she was away from home because of hockey and staying with someone or her going to collage, she is officially moving out of her home and starting a new chapter in her life.

“Mom i’ll be fine.” Gemma softly reassured her mom, she knew her mom would be worried because she was just as worried last year when Adam moved out.

“I know.” Julia agreed cupping her youngest cheek, it still shocked her everyday how fast her kids had all grown up and that Gemma is already eighteen.

“I’ll see you in a few weeks.” Gemma reminded her parents squeezing her Dad’s hand.

Gemma was already confirmed to be on the team on the upcoming season and her parents were planning to come see her first game that would be in Prague, unfortunately Adam definitely won’t be able to go and Luca most likely won’t be able to either.

Julia nodded and pressed a kiss to her only daughter’s head, “Ti Amo my Gem.” Julia softly whispered to her daughter.

“Ti Amo Mama.” Gemma sweetly whispered back and politely ignored the tears in her mom’s eye and she hugged her Dad softly.

Giuliano pressed a gentle kiss to his only daughter’s cheek. They didn’t need to share any words just a look with a smile before he let her go and wrapped an arm around his wife.

Luca frowned feeling incredibly old that his baby sister is old enough to live in her own apartment with her boyfriend all alone in a new city, “Are you going to be okay Gems?” Luca asked worriedly.

Luca has always has hated how much Gemma has been alone because of hockey because for almost his entire life he always had Adam and when he moved away from home he had Adam with him but Gemma is always on her own.

“I’m gonna be okay.” Gemma softly reassured her eldest brother, she was looking forward to start a new chapter in her life especially with Macklin. She was about to start living out the dream she has had for years she was excited not sad.

Luca slowly nodded believing Gemma’s words, “Okay.” Luca pulled her into a hug, “I’ll see you soon.” Luca promised and hugged her tighter before reluctantly letting her go and ticking her hair behind her ear and giving her one more soft smile before walking over to their parents.

“Come here.” Adam opened his arms for his baby sister and hugged her tightly, “Have fun okay. Enjoy this you have earned it.” Adam softly told her rubbing her back and he kissed the top of her head.

They pulled back from each other sharing one more smile with each other before Gemma started walking them out

She leaned on the door watching her family get in the elevator as she waved softly at them. She thought she would be more sad but if anything she’s excited to be living with Macklin.

Gemma watched the elevator doors close, Macklin came up behind her wrapping his arms around and his chin resting on her shoulder as she closed their front door.

Macklin’s family had only left a few minutes before Gemma’s family after they said their goodbyes to Macklin.

“You okay?” Macklin asked her softly kissing her cheek softly.

Gemma nodded slowly, “Yeah i’m okay.” Gemma softly reassured him as her hand rested over his hands. Leaving for Chicago a few years was a lot harder for Gemma but she is use to being away form her family most of the year now, doesn’t mean she doesn’t miss them all the time but she is used to it.

Macklin nodded accepting her answer as he knows what’s she means as Gemma started walking to their couch with Macklin still holding her from behind.

Macklin reluctantly let go of her so they go sit together in the couch and they looked out at the windows of the beautiful view of New Jersey.

Macklin wrapped an arm over her shoulder as Gemma cuddled into his side with her legs draped over his lap and he grabbed the pink throw blanket that was on the couch and threw it over them.

Macklin and Gemma were almost fully moved in already as their family were there to help them unpack and they also don’t have a lot of stuff between them yet.

Macklin thought Gemma had done really well decorating their apartment not that he expected anything else.

Gemma kept it pretty simple in decorations but there are few pink accents decorations that Macklin loves because it reminds him of her.

“We should get flowers when we get groceries later.” Gemma told Macklin as she was looking around the living room, dinning room and kitchen from where she was sitting on the couch and she saw the empty vases that she wanted pink flowers in.

“Whatever you want.” Macklin smiled softly kissing the top of her head, he had already planned to get flowers when they went out later knowing how much Gemma loves to have fresh flowers.

Gemma hummed softly back and closed her eyes letting out a soft sigh as she leaned her head on his chest, “I love you.” Gemma softly whispered to her best friend who is also her boyfriend.

“I love you too my sweet girl.” Macklin softly whispered back rubbing her back gently, “I got you a present.” Macklin grinned as he saw her head look up for her to peak at him.

“What is it?” Gemma asked curiously.

“Let me go get it.” Macklin gently sat up letting go of Gemma and walked to his room real quick and grabbed the small box out of his bag and opened it grabbing the thing in the box and walked back.

“Close your eyes.” Macklin softly told her hiding his hand behind his back. Gemma smiled and closed her eyes.

Macklin sat back down on the couch and moved her hair off her back and gently laid the necklace down on her chest shutting it close. He pressed a kiss to the back of her neck, “Open it.”

Macklin smiled watching as she looked down at the necklace and noticed the charm, a small 17, “Since it’s our number now.” Macklin told her already loving seeing her in their number.

Gemma beamed touching the necklace gently, it was perfect, small enough she could wear it all the time even for hockey, she turned towards him and pressed her lips to his, “Thank you Amore.”

“Always.” Macklin flushed a little red as he smiled at her and kissed her again.

Gemma yawned softly as she woke up she frowned waking up with no Macklin next to her because he’s been gone for the past few days and would be gone for a few more as he’s on a long road game trip.

She hated they Macklin was away especially as today was their one year anniversary and they both really wanted to spend it together.

It was kinda okay he wasn’t here because her Mom is town for the Mom’s trip meaning it would’ve been hard to celebrate her anniversary with Macklin anyways.

Gemma smiled as her phone rang for a facetime form Macklin, “Hi.” Gemma smiled brightly her face still smushed against Macklin’s pillow where she was still cuddled under his blankets in his bed.

“Hi my love.” Macklin softly spoke smiling so softly seeing his favorite person all cuddled in his bed and his heart clenched wishing he could be with her right now, “Happy anniversary.”

“Happy anniversary amore mio dolce.” Gemma softly spoke back blowing him a kiss as she smiled watching his cheeks turn pink after she called him his favorite pet name she calls him and a name that never fails to make him blush.

“Hopeeee.” Macklin groaned rubbing his face as he smiled goofily.

Gemma just giggled at his face.

Gemma stayed on facetime with Macklin for over an hour enjoying spending some time with him.

She got out of bed and did her morning routine before throwing on one of Macklin’s hoodies and walking out of his room and saw her Mom cooking a late brunch in her kitchen, “Hi Mama.” Gemma kissed her mom’s cheek and hummed happily looking at what her Mom was cooking.

“Hello Darling.” Julia smiled as Gemma reached across and grabbed a piece of fruit she chopped up and she shook her head fondly having missed Gemma in the kitchen when she is cooking.

Gemma’s brows furrowed when there was a knock on her front door and she walked over opening the door and saw a deliver woman holding a giant bouquet of pink, purples, white and blue flowers.

“Gemma Fantilli?” The woman asked and Gemma nodded making the woman hand her the huge bouquet of flowers.

“Thank you.” Gemma said as she struggled to hold the vase with the bouquet of flowers in her arms with how big it is.

Gemma brought the bouquet through the apartment and set the vase down on the dinning room table, she picked up the card.

Gemma smiled shaking her head only Macklin would get a bouquet so large that it covered half the table.

“Oh they are beautiful!” Julia exclaimed as she walked into the dinning room holding two plates and looking at the beautiful flower, “He does a good job.” Julia notices every time she is at Gemma’s or even on facetime that there is fresh flowers in her house and they are always from Macklin.

Julia adores how much Macklin loves her daughter and clearly spoils her. She thinks Macklin is perfect for Gemma.

“He always does good.” Gemma fondly agreed brushing her hand across the beautiful flowers.

Gemma texted Macklin a thank you and a picture of the flowers before she ate a late brunch with her Mom and just talked with her Mom for a good while before she had to get up and get dressed for the game.

Gemma picked her purple suit pants knowing it is her Mom’s favorite color and a chunky white sweater with tan boots.

Gemma walked out of Macklin’s room seeing her Mom ready with a sweatshirt with her name and number.

Gemma just smiled and they walked to her front door both grabbing their coats and Gemma put on her tan trench coat before they left her apartment heading to her car.

Gemma drove them the shortish drive to the arena and she pointed out things to her Mom that she likes or goes to as she drove them.

Gemma walked in with her mom and brought her mom to the room where all the other Mom’s and sisters or woman figures would be hanging out before the game, “Bye Mama.” Gemma kissed her cheek before heading to the locker room.

Gemma walked in and noticed a lot of the boys were already there and she knew it was because there Moms or who came with them made them come early.

She raised an eye brow seeing Nate looking at her with a grin and walked by Luke ruffling his curls as she did.

Gemma looked at her stall and saw another bouquet of floweres, a mix of red and blue periwinkles her favorite flowers. She knew he picked the colors for both of their teams.

She looked at the car seeing they were from Macklin again.

Gemma smiled to her self feeling her cheeks warm realizing he somehow got flowers in the locker room on her stall and she picked the vase up glad that it’s a smaller bouquet than the one at home and she put the vase on the shelf above her stall.

“Nope.” Gemma giggled as she saw Dawson open his mouth to ask questions.

“But!” Dawson sputtered out looking confused why he can’t ask because there’s flowers on her stall.

“Nope.” Gemma shook her head still laughing at Dawson and Nate too both pouting that she won’t answer their questions and she sat sat down in her stall.

Nico smiled slightly at her before giving Dawson and Nate a look to be quiet.

Gemma did warms up and then braided her hair with her red ribbons and pinned up her braids making her hair into a braid crown before heading onto the ice for warms up.

She waved as she looked over at the suite with all the Moms and saw her mom sitting with Ellen.

Gemma got the first goal of the game with Jack and Jesper assisting.

Jesper got the next goal with Jack and Gemma assisting.

The first period ended with the Devils leading 2-1.

Stefan scored on power play with Gemma and Jack assisting in the second period.

The third period the Canes scored once more and then Dougie scored.

Jesper scored again on a power player and Jack and Gemma assisted again.

The Devils won against the Canes 5-2.

It was a good way to start the Mom’s trip and Gemma was excited to bring her Mom along with her for the next game on the road.

Gemma was sitting in her stall after the morning practice when her phone started buzzing, she leaned back grabbing her phone knowing she only keeps a few numbers to go through on do not disturb and saw Macklin calling her.

Gemma brought the phone up to ear as she continued to untie her shoe laces, “Hello?” Gemma asked with surprise as Macklin never calls her when she is at practice, he always knows when she has practice and he will check find my iphone if she is done work practice.

“Hope Love how long should i cook a steak?” Macklin nervously question glaring at Will who was sitting at the barstools laughing at him.

Gemma closed her eyes rubbing her forehead, “Please do not tell me you are cooking.” Gemma groaned knowing how much of a disaster Macklin is in the kitchen.

“Okay i won’t tell you.” Macklin quickly rambled out fiddling with his ring nervously as he glanced at the steak in the pan.

Will had convinced Macklin to try and cook a steak knowing it would be funny to watch.

“Are you alone?” Gemma questioned desperately already afraid what her kitchen is gonna look like when she gets home.

“No Smitty is here.” Macklin’s words reassured her slightly but barely.

“Is it already cooking?” Gemma plopped her face in her hands heading the sizzling.

“Maybe..” Macklin sheepishly trailed off with a grimace.

“Okay how long has it been cooking?” Gemma stopped been trying to take off her equipment focusing on the call.

“There minutes.” Macklin quickly answered after looking at the time.

“Okay let it cook for one more minute and flip it over and cook it for four more minutes than take it off heat and let it rest for a few minutes.” Gemma gently explained making Macklin nod on the other side of the phone.

“Got it?” Gemma double checked already scared of what the kitchen will look like when she is home.

Gemma cursed Will knowing he definitely put Macklin up to this because he would find it amusing.

“Got it flip in a minute and four more minutes than take off and let rest.” Macklin quickly repeated the instructions back.

“Good.” Gemma let out a sigh hoping she wouldn’t come to an unrecognizable kitchen.

“And Amore you better not cook anything else in the kitchen while i am gone.” Gemma sternly spoke through the phone, she had seen way too many times Macklin’s disasters in the kitchen.

“Promise.” Macklin quickly promised as he flipped the steak over and realized it was not his smartest idea to listen to Will and try to cook.

“If you destroy my kitchen you are sleeping in your own bed for a week.” Gemma made a deal with a small smile hearing Macklin’s squawk of protest.

“I will not destroy anything and it will be perfectly clean when you get back.” Macklin quickly promised as no way in hell was he not sleeping next to his girl if they are together.

Gemma let out the fondest sigh as she couldn’t even stay annoyed at him, “Okay.”

“I love you.” Macklin softly reminded her smiling and ignoring the look and smirk coming from Will.

“Yeah I love you too.” Gemma lowered her voice speaking quietly and softly through the phone wanting to keep some of her conversation with Macklin private as she is still in the locke room and she is sure half of the boys are listening to her talk.

“Talk to you later.” Macklin promised and Gemma smiled saying her byes before they hung up the call.

Gemma set her phone back in her stall and started to continue to untie her skate laces finally taking her skates off.

“Boyfriend?” Dawson inquired curiously nudging her arm having heard her talking on the phone.

“Mhm.” Gemma hummed as she took her elbow pads off next.

“Did he try to cook again?” Luke asked amused having heard her talk about how to cook a steak, he has heard all of the stories of Macklin trying to cook and it never fails to amuse him.

“Yes.” Gemma groaned feeling slightly annoyed thinking about Macklin trying to cook again, she has seen him make so many mistakes in the kitchen that she didn’t even know what possible, he should he fully banned from the kitchen if he is alone and he definitely shouldn’t be cooking with Will.

“Is he a bad cook?” Brett looked curiously sensing Gemma was a bit annoyed about her boyfriend cooking which was surprising because he’s never really seen her annoyed.

“Terrible.” Gemma bluntly replied and would be feel bad about being harsh but it was true and even Macklin had agreed he is a terrible cook.

“How bad?” Dougie titled his head amused as he took his hockey equipment off.

“He burnt water trying to boil water for pasta.” Gemma answered bluntly with an astonished face still confused how Macklin can make some things happen in the kitchen.

“You can burn water?” Nate’s mouth dropped in shock, he thought he was a bad cook but apparently not as bad as Gemma’s boyfriend.

“I didn’t know you could until he did.” Gemma shook her head remembering walking into the kitchen seeing Macklin had literally burnt water just trying to boil water.

“He’s supposed to be banned from the kitchen.” Gemma explained as she had tried to help Macklin learn how to cook in the kitchen but after so many times she knew it was a lost cause especially after he almost destroyed her kitchen in Boston.

“Well can he at least cook broccoli?” Curtis piped in with a teasing grin making Jack throw his head back groaning.

“Fuck off.” Jack groaned grabbing a roll of tape and tossing it at Curtis, the boys have never let him live it down that he asked how to cook broccoli.

“I can cook broccoli now.” Jack reminded them looking annoyed.

“Jack can and it’s good.” Gemma added with a smile having had Jack’s cooking and she loves it.

“See this is why you’re my favorite G.” Jack smiled at her.

“Bows is everyone’s favorite.” Dawson grinned shrugging nonchalantly.

Gemma smiled shyly.

“Then who is her favorite?” Nate looked around the room trying to decided and looked at Gemma for an answer.

Gemma just shrugged not answering but her eyes slightly flickered over to Luke who just smiled.

Gemma walked into the locker room for practice and she narrowed her eyes seeing the looks coming from Dawson and Nate specifically, “What?” Gemma questioned confused as she walked closer to her stall.

“You have a boyfriend!” Dawson immediately yelled out still so shocked from when he found out two days ago.

Dawson was so loud that most of the team turned to them.

“Bows has a boyfriend?” Curtis smirked teasingly.

Gemma closed her eyes letting out a small sigh at her teammates, “I do.” Gemma simply said and turned around sitting down at her stall.

“Come on we would like to know more.” Dawson nudged her gently.

“Who told you?” Gemma ignored his question giving him a stern look.

“Shea.” Dawson and Nate said in unison making Seamus make an offended look for being sold out so quickly.

“Rude.” Seamus mumbled giving the two boys betrayed look.

Seamus groan as a roll of tape smacked him and hit his chest, “Dude!” Seamus groaned as he looked up and realized Gemma threw tape at him.

“Really?” Gemma gave her an annoyed look as he barely knew about Macklin for a month and already spilled.

“Lukey please.” Gemma gestured to Seamus and Luke sitting next to Seamus grinned and whacked Seamus on the back of his head.

“Ow! not cool.” Seamus grumbled rubbing his head.

“You barely even knew and now everyone knows.” Gemma grumbled back genuinely annoyed that Seamus spilled her secrets.

Luke seeing Gemma’s annoyance smacked Seamus on the back of the head again.

“Again!” Seamus groaned out scooting away from Luke.

“Dude i’ve know forever and never let anyone else know.” Luke gave a disappointing look to Seamus knowing Gemma and Macklin had serious reasons they wanted to stay private.

Seamus made a sheepish grimace, “Sorry Gemma.” Seamus sincerely apologized for her feeling bad he said anything when she trusted him.

Gemma soften slightly and nodded, “It’s okay.” Gemma whispered softly.

Nico watched with protective eyes and nodded in approval seeing Seamus apologize, “I can make sure no one asks any more questions.” Nico leaned down and whispered quietly to Gemma only, Nico wants her to be comfortable in the locker room and will do whatever she needs.

“It’s okay.” Gemma smiled at Nico’s kind offer though, she knew her teammates were just being curious and while she wished they didn’t know about her relationship she is okay with answering a few questions.

“Just keep it in this room please.” Gemma looked around at her team, a team that was she was growing to love like family and she felt like she could trust them.

“Of course G, no one out of the room will know.” Jack gave her a reassuring look as the rest of the team all nodded.

“Then you guys can ask a few questions.” Gemma offered giving Dawson a small smile knowing he wanted to ask.

“How long have you been together?” Dawson asked curiously.

“Almost a year.” Gemma answered softly smiling slightly at the memory of when Macklin and her got together.

“How did you meet?” Jonathan asked her.

“Hockey.” Gemma chuckled softly as that’s how she meets everyone.

“Does he treat you right?” Nico gave her a serious look, he will complete respect her reason to keep her relationship private but he just wants to make sure she is getting treated the way she deserves to be treated.

“Oh definitely, he worships the ground she walks on. He adores her.” Luke strongly told the team speaking up before Gemma could.

Gemma’s cheeks warmed at Luke’s words knowing they are true.

Nico smiled slightly nodding.

“Do you approve?” Nate asked Luke seriously as anyone can see how protective Luke is over Gemma and Luke would only approve of someone who is good for Gemma.

“One hundred percent.” Luke answered just as seriously back and sent a small grin at Gemma, he’s watched the two go from strangers into friends and lovers and he doesn’t think anyone will every be better for Gemma than Macklin.

“Alright enough questions, get ready for practice.” Nico gave a stern glance at the team seeing Gemma was getting a bit unsettled at all the questions.

The team all listened and started chatting to one another as they all got ready for practice.

“Thank you.” Gemma softly whispered to Nico, she knew if she was gonna introduce Macklin to anyone on the Devil’s it will be Nico first.

“Anytime bows.” Nico gently smiled back at her patting her shoulder before getting ready for practice.

Gemma got ready for practice and headed to the ice to start practice.

Gemma rushed out after practice as she quickly took her equipment off and changed back into her clothes and she was the first to leave the locker room.

She quickly got into her car driving back home, Macklin was leaving in a few hours to head to Pittsburg for his first game tomorrow and she wanted to spend as much time with him before he had to leave.

Gemma hurried up to their apartment and quickly opened the door taking her shoes off and dropping her keys down.

“Mack?” Gemma called out softly not seeing Macklin as she walked in, she heard his voice call back and walked towards her room seeing Macklin laying her bed cuddling with her flower bouquet stuff animal and he shut his phone off when she walked in.

“Hi my love.” Macklin smiled seeing his girlfriend and she immediately got into her bed cuddling to him letting out a happy sigh as Macklin wrapped his arm around her.

“Hi. The team found out i have a boyfriend.” Gemma mumbled against his chest as he softly rubbed her head.

Macklin blinked, “Okay how did they find out?”

“Shea.” Gemma grumbled still annoyed at Seamus.

“Can we smack him?” Macklin asked hopeful making Gemma laugh softly making him smile.

“Luke did already.” Gemma told him.

“Remind me to thank Luke.” Macklin mumbled, “How did they take it?” Macklin gently asked her.

“Good, really good i think, they don’t who it is yet.” Gemma answered softly her eyes struggling to stay open.

Macklin softly nodded and noticed her started to sleep, “Get some sleep i’ll be here.” Macklin softly cooed as she started falling asleep.

Gemma was sitting on the floor in front of Luke’s stall resting her head on Luke’s knee messing with a pen in her hand as she has just been signing stuff before warms ups.

Luke noticed Gemma fidgeting and looking bored and he handed her his glove making her take the glove and look confused, “Go ahead.” Luke gestured to the pen, he knows she likes to doodle on her gloves and stick.

Gemma’s face lite up with a smile and she immediately started doodling on Luke’s glove.

Gemma started doodling flowers across the palm of the glove and towards each finger.

Luke let Gemma doodle on his glove until she needed to get up and start warming up.

Luke smiled looking at his glove as she handed him it to him, it was adorable and very Gemma, “Thanks Emmie.” Luke ruffled her hair softly as she smiled at him.

Gemma and Luke headed out of the locker room to start warming up before the game.

Gemma was skating across the ice skating around the Krakens defender and passed the puck to Luke.

Luke shot the puck and got his first goal of the season.

Gemma beamed and immediately skated over to Luke jumping on him hugging his tightly.

Luke laughed as Gemma gave him a head pat and was beaming at him so proudly.

Gemma has wanted to see Luke score so bad and she was able to assist his first goal of the around.

Luke and Gemma shared a grin and a fist bump before heading back to the bench.

Later in the third period Luke assisted on Gemma’s goal.

The Devils won 3-2 against the Krakens.

Luke ruffled Gemma’s hair after they both showered after the game, “I guess i need your doddles more now.” Luke mused with a fond grin, it seemed like her doddles were good luck.

Gemma grinned at Luke’s words.

“Bows!” Stefan called out walking over to Gemma, “Do you have a second?” Stefan asked seeing Gemma was about to head out.

“Sure.” Gemma nodded.

“My daughter really was hoping she could see you after the game.” Stefan explained to Gemma.

“Oh she wants to see me?” Gemma blinked looking surprised, sure she has met most of the team’s kids so far but she has not gotten closer to any of them or talked more that a few words to any of them.

“She told me to ask you.” Stefan grinned shrugging.

“Sure.” Gemma smiled slightly awkwardly but started following Stefan to the family room.

“She doesn’t go there often does she.” Nico spoke to Luke and Jack just realizing now he’s only seen Gemma in the family room for a few minutes over the past few months.

“She isn’t use to kids.” Luke whispered to Jack and Nico and they followed Gemma and Stefan to the family room. Luke knew Gemma has barely been around kids especially younger ones if they aren’t fans and she doesn’t necessarily know what to do.

“Because she is the youngest?” Nico realized, he was pretty similar as he was the youngest is all of his family growing up and there was never really anyone younger than him.

Luke nodded as they walked through the doors together.

“Leigh!” Stefan called out smiling ad his daughter rushed over to him and he bent down hugging her gently, “There’s someone here for you?”

Leighton gasped seeing Gemma, “Hi!” She beamed as Gemma kneeled down in front of her.

“Hello.” Gemma smiled sweetly and spoke awkwardly speaking, she felt out of her comfort zone and didn’t know what she was supposed to be doing. She was a bit better with kids a few years old but she had no idea what to do with babies.

“Mom said i can get your jersey.” Leighton beamed making Stefan sigh and shake his head fondly.

“You want to wear my jersey?” Gemma looked shocked but touched.

“Of course you’re the coolest on the team.” Leighton giggled as Stefan playfully gasped.

“Why don’t i help your Dad get the jersey for you?” Gemma offered giving Stefan a small look as she had a plan for the jersey and Stefan nodded smiling seeing how well Gemma was doing with his daughter even if she was being awkward.

“Really!” Leighton gasped and clapped her hands happily as Gemma nodded.

“I made something for you.” Leighton pulled out something from her tiny little purse and handed it to Gemma.

Gemma delicately took and saw it was a beaded bracelet that had red and white beads and her name spelled out with red bow charms, “Woah this is so pretty thank you Leighton.” Gemma softly spoke to the younger girl making Leighton perk up happily.

“We match!” Leighton held up her arm that was covered in hand made bracelets and a lot of them had things for Gemma.

“We do. They are very pretty.” Gemma softly spoke feeling a bit more comfortable talking to the child.

Eventually Stefan had to take Leighton away to head home and Gemma waved bye.

She was standing with Nico, Luke and Jack talking with Jacob and his wife Amanda when she felt something tap her leg and she looked down seeing Jacob’s one year old son Clark holding two mini sticks and looking up at her.

Gemma’s eyes widened in worry she had no idea what the baby wanted, Gemma looked at Jacob for help.

“He wants to play mini stick with you.” Jacob explained with a fond smile. He’s realized Gemma doesn’t really know what to do with kids.

“Uh okay.” Gemma slowly nodded and walked a few steps following Clarke and she sat down.

“Ba.” Clark babbled as he handed her a stick making her nod at him.

Clark backed up and hit the ball at her and Gemma softly hit it back at Clark. She felt a bit more comfortable with the baby playing mini sticks with him.

It was adorable seeing Gemma playing with Clark and it was a soft reminder to the ones in the room that Gemma has only been officially been an adult for a few months, she’s still incredibly young.

Clark was babbling to Gemma as they played and it seems to make her more comfortable with him.

Macklin woke up to Gemma moving around like crazy making him smile fondly knowing exactly why she’s moving around because she is very excited.

Gemma has always been a very big fan of Christmas, loves everything about the holiday. Listens to Christmas music all the time, decorates her whole house in Christmas decorations, wears anything Christmas the entire month.

If it was up to Gemma she would have decorated their apartment for Christmas the first day of November but she did want to decorate with Macklin and their schedules have not lined up the entire month where they have time to decorate their apartment.

“Somebody is excited.” Macklin spoke opening his eyes watching as Gemma turned around immediately to face him and she was just beaming.

“You’re up!” Gemma beamed pressing a kiss to Macklin’s nose, she has barely been able to sleep being so excited to go shopping for decorations.

Last December she was living alone fully for the first time and she had to buy most of decorations but with her moving away from after Boston she didn’t want to travel with so much so she donated all the things she bought in boston and only kept a few things she brought with her from Toronto.

She know only has a very small box with a few things for Christmas but she was looking forward to go shopping for decorations and decorations they get to keep now in their apartment.

Macklin smiled and decided to get out of bed immediately for Gemma and it was all worth it for the smile that crossed her face seeing him getting out of her bed.

Gemma quickly followed and they headed into her bathroom and both did their morning routines.

Gemma headed into her closet changing into a new matching sweatpants set, all pink with white bows.

Gemma headed towards the front entrance seeing Macklin waiting by the front door and he had tossed on a hoodie and puffer on and his shoes.

Gemma grabbed her black puffer and slipped her uggs on.

Macklin opened the door for them and they headed to Macklin’s car.

Macklin drove them to Wawa drive thru and they got a quick breakfast and coffee that they ate in the car as Macklin drove them to target for christmas shopping.

Macklin pulled into the parking garage and Gemma immediately hopped out of the car making Macklin shake his head fondly.

Macklin just grabbed a cart and followed Gemma as they headed to the Christmas section.

Gemma quickly grabbed little tiny tress that looked like pipe cleaners and got a few of each color. Gemma then grabbed a little ceramic train and gently put in the cart.

They went to the next isle filled with christmas pillows and Gemma grabbed so many asking Macklin’s opinion on a lot of them.

She grabbed two round pillows that were peppermints, two white snowflake pillows, a candy cane and ginger bread pillow, and a couple just plain red, white and green pillows.

Gemma grabbed a few strands of light up garland a bag of pinecones loving the smell and picked out a simple reef for their front door with red berries.

Macklin perked up seeing mistletoe and quickly put in the car without Gemma seeing and followed her to the fake tree aisle.

As much as Gemma would love a a real tree it just wasn’t smart with how much they are both gone.

Macklin picked up the fake tree box Gemma wanted and put it on the bottom of the cart and they headed to the ornament section next.

Gemma picked out some red ribbons for bows on the trees and some simple red and silver ornaments and joined Macklin at the fun ornaments section.

Gemma honestly didn’t want a tree just with a theme she wanted it to feel like home and something Macklin and her both love.

“Hope!” Macklin called excited as he walked around the shelves of ornaments showing Gemma two ornaments, they are both hockey players and one is a girl.

Gemma smiled touched seeing a girl hockey player ornament. Macklin immediately put both in the cart.

Gemma picked out a new york ornament, a penguin snowboarding, a christmas baking pin.

Macklin picked out three gnomes, a few blue and red bulbs, a golden retriever for his dog.

Gemma and Macklin picked out a few more before deciding they had enough.

Gemma paused and noticed an ornament, a heart shaped ornament that said a first christmas 2024, she smiled picking it up and showing Macklin who quickly nodded loving it.

“Alright what’s next?” Macklin asked her softly brushing a hand across the back of head as she put the last ornament in to the cart.

“Stockings and then candles!” Gemma said happily as they stopped in front of the stockings.

Gemma hummed thoughtfully looking at all of them.

“Which ones do you like?” Gemma asked her boyfriend.

“Hmm i kinda like the white ones.” Macklin pointed to the white knitted stockings with red letter initials.

“Me too!” Gemma smiled as those were the ones she was looking at too. Macklin grabbed an M and G stocking and followed Gemma to the candle isle.

Gemma grabbed a few candles she liked and let Macklin sniff them wanting to make sure he likes them too.

Once they found a few they both liked they headed to the front of the store to buy everything.

Macklin pushed Gemma’s hand away giving her look before he quickly tapped his card before she could and paid for it.

“You didn’t have to do that.” Gemma gave him a look as they walked out of the store together, “But thank you.” Gemma gave him a smile too.

“Anytime.” Macklin smiled back and they started loading up the car beside getting in. Macklin was quite surprised they didn’t run into any fans the entire time they were there.

Macklin drove them home and they carried everything up to their apartment.

Macklin started setting to the fake tree as Gemma turned on her christmas playlist and lite some of the candles they got.

Gemma hung up the tree from the front door and put the rest of the pieces of decor across the apartment.

She draped the garland across the fireplace and hung up their stockings up on the fireplace.

Gemma smiled happily looking around seeing how christmas it was in their apartment and the onto thing left was decorating the tree.

Gemma started making bows for the tree as Macklin started hanging up the ornaments.

Gemma put up a few ornaments before Macklin helped her put up all of the bows.

Gemma leaned into Macklin’s side smiling content, “Every thing is perfect.”

Macklin smiled and pressed a kiss to the top of head and he moved his arm firm her wait to her and spun her around making her giggle.

“What are you doing!” Gemma giggled as Macklin pulled her back and they started dancing in front of their christmas tree to christmas music.

“Dancing with my girlfriend.” Macklin nonchalantly replied pressing a kiss to her cheek before spinning her again making her laugh.

Macklin and Gemma continued to dance with each other before Macklin stopped them, “I’ll be right back.” Macklin quickly walked over into the kitchen grabbing the mistletoe and walked back out with a mischievous grin and holding it behind his back.

“Close your eyes.” Macklin gently asked her as he walked over and Gemma did as he asked closing her eyes.

Macklin grinned and held up the mistletoe above them, “Okay open.”

Gemma opened her eyes and started giggling seeing the mistletoe, “I’ve never had a mistletoe kiss.” Gemma whispered with a smile.

Macklin and Gemma were each other’s first kiss and only kiss.

“I haven’t either.” Macklin grinned back before he leaned down and cupped her face with one hand and connected their lips together.

It was the perfect day for them and a good way to spend time together before they each other in the NHL for the first time tomorrow.

Gemma narrowed her eyes as her fingers tighten around her stick and she got ready for the puck to drop.

It was the first real game of the World Junior’s and her first game ever in the WJC. Gemma had a feeling her team was going to do well in this tournament, the team is just clicking and more than half of the team have all played together before.

The first game of the tournament US were playing against Norway.

Gemma let out a breath and her eyes snapped to the puck quickly taking it from the Norway player and the start of her playing in a WJC had started.

No one scored the first period but half way through the second period Seamus passed the puck across the ice to Gemma and she quickly shot it into the net. Getting the first goal of the game and her first of the tournament.

Only a few minutes later she had the puck on her stick and she quickly flicked it back to Gavin who scored off her pass.

During her last shift of the second period she had the puck again and she went to the goal and faked a shot passing back to Gavin who scored his second goal of the game.

Norway finals managed to score in the third period but couldn’t catch up especially as Cutter passed a puck to Gemma and she smacked it into the goal.

USA won their first game 4-1.

Gemma had two goals and two assist in her first game.

Gemma smiled slightly as she checked her phone after the game seeing Macklin’s texts that he spammed her with as he watched her game after his game, she had just celebrated her one month with Macklin.

December 27, 2024

Gemma didn’t have a game the next day so she spent most of the beginning part of the day exploring Sweden with the boys before she headed back to her hotel room wanting to watch the Latvia vs Canada game.

Gemma watched as Macklin got a goal and four assist in the game as Canada won 10-0.

Luckily for Gemma her team was out for most of the night so she was able to facetime Macklin for a little bit before Cutter got back to their room.

December 28, 2023

The second game she played was against Switzerland.

Gemma had the puck right in the beginning of the period and passed it back to Gabe who quickly brought the puck to Will and Will scored the first goal of the game.

By the end of the first period Gemma had scored three times in under nine minutes, multiple of her teammates assisting on all of her goals.

Zeev scored the last goal of the period with Gemma and Cutter assisting. It was 5-1.

Gavin scored in the second and Gemma assisted with Seamus for Ryan’s goal. Gavin scored again in the second and Issac quickly scored after. The second period ended 9-1.

Jimmy scored the last two goals for US and Switzerland managed to score two more goals at the end but US won 11-3.

Gemma had three goals and three assists.

December 29, 2023

US played the next day against Czech.

Gemma got the first goal of the game in the first minute of the period with Rutger assisting.

Czech managed to score a goal in the first too.

Czech scored the next goal in the second.

US had a power played and it was a BC power played without Cutter but Gemma and Ryan got the assists for Will’s goal and Gabe has passed the puck to Ryan.

The game was now tied back up.

Czech and US both scored another goal back to back.

No one scored in the third and the score was still tied so they went to OT.

There was thirteen player who went through the shootout and still no one had won yet.

Gemma was up next and she took the puck up the ice barely glancing up went she faked the puck up before tossing it between the goalies legs and making US win.

Gemma laughed as her team jumped on her hugging her and giving her head pats.

Gemma got another two goals and an assist.

December 30, 2023

Gemma didn’t have a game today and she managed to sneak off away from her teammates and walked five minutes to a cafe where she was meeting Macklin.

Macklin and Gemma have only been playing the minutes away from each other but have had no time to be able to see each other.

“There she is.” Macklin immediately smiled game he looked up and saw Gemma walking to him where he was waiting in front of the cafe.

Gemma giggled as Macklin immediately hugged her and spun her around beside setting her down gently and kissing her gently.

Gemma smiled softly and kissed her boyfriend back.

Gemma spent most of the day with Macklin just walking around Sweden and buying little things together and enjoying time together.

No one noticed where she was and Cutter only raised an eyebrow when she came back to their room but he smiled slightly seeing how happy she looked.

December 31, 2023

US played Slovakia next.

Rutger scored the first goal of the game with Gemma assisting.

Slovakia scored next.

And Zeev scored the second goal and last goal of the first period.

Gemma got the first goal of the second period only two seconds in with Gabe and Ryan assisting.

Slovakia scored again a few minutes later.

Ryan scored the next goal with Gemma and Gabe assisting. Rutger then scored his second goal of the game.

Rutger scored the first goal of the third period and got his hat trick.

Gemma scored her second goal of the game with Gabe assisting.

Gavin and Cutter bother scored a goal.

Gemma was behind the net when Will shot the puck to her and she picked the puck up on her stick swinging it at the goal and scored. Her first ever Michigan goal and her second hat trick this tournament.

Gemma giggled as Will shook her excitedly and Ryan shook her head like crazy and Gabe smacked Ryan away to calm him down.

US won 10-2.

Gemma had three goals and two assists.

She was easily leading the WJC with most points, goals and assists.

It was also New Year’s eve meaning all the teams were all going out to celebrate and Gemma got lucky with where her team was celebrating because Team Canada showed up at the same place to celebrate.

Gemma shared small smiles across the room with Macklin for most of the night before it got closer to midnight and she made eye contact with Macklin before sneaking off to the balcony that was alone.

Gemma giggled as she felt arms wrap around her and a kiss pressed to her neck knowing exactly who it was. She spun around in his arms looking up at a smiling Macklin.

She could heard the countdown to New years, “Happy New years Macky.”

“Happy new year.” Macklin softly whispered back hoping they will still be together for many more new years. Gemma smiled softly as he leaned down and they shared a new years kiss, both of their first new years kiss.

January 2, 2024

US played against Latvia for the quarter finals.

Gemma had to try to stop worrying about Macklin as he had lost only a few hours ago and is now out of the tournament.

Drew scored the first goal of the game and Gabe got the second with Gemma assisting.

Latvia got a goal next.

Gemma scored the next and last goal of the first period with Cutter and Rutger assisting.

Rutger got the first goal of the second period and Will got the next goal with a Gemma assist

Gabe got the next goal.

Gemma got the only US goal in the third with Cutter assuring and Latvia scored once more but US won 7-2.

Gemma had two goals and two assists.

US was going to the Semi Finals.

January 4, 2024

Gemma was excited to get into the semi finals but she was a bit sad as she said bye to Macklin yesterday as he is heading home. It’s also makes her a bit sad seeing all of her team with their family and she doesn’t have any of her family here for her. The only slightly positive thing about Canada going home is she won’t have to play against Mack in a tournament that is so important.

Gemma just shook her head trying to not focus on everything going on in head and focus on only hockey. She tied her lucky red ribbons in her hair and headed to the ice for the game against Finland.

The first period US played horrible and Finland scored two goals.

Gemma came out in the second period and scored a goal immediately all on her own and she skated across the ice and around all the Finland players to get the goal.

Her goal started the momentum and Will scored next with Gabe and Gemma assisting.

Gemma scored her second goal in the last few minutes of the third period.

She was immediately jumped on by her teammates as she scored the game winning goal.

US won 3-2.

Gemma had two goals and an assist.

They were going to the gold medal game.

January 5, 2024

Gemma was vibrating with energy ready to play in the goal medal game. She put her hair in her lucky two french braids with her red ribbons.

Immediately she noticed how tough Sweden was playing and while she was annoyed she was not surprised she was getting targeted by the players.

She did break the record for all time points in a WJC ever and it makes sense why the Sweden team is targeting her but it is annoying her.

Gemma grunted as she was hit again but managed to pass the puck to Gabe who quickly took the shot and got the first goal of the game.

The second period started and Sweden scored a goal.

Gemma grunted again as she was slammed again, she was starting to get frustrated.

Gemma felt her feet get knocked out by the other player stick as she had the puck on her stick but she still managed to toss the puck off her stick right before she hit the ice and the puck went right into the goal.

Gemma laughed a shocked laugh that she managed to score a goal after falling and she turned off her stomach laying on her back as she couldn’t get up as she looked up seeing the furious Sweden player standing over her and she couldn’t help but grin. The player narrowed his eyes at her and went to do something when he was knocked over by Ryan and off of Gemma.

Ryan narrowed his eyes protectively as he stood in front of Gemma as she got up and he dared the Sweden player to do something.

Isaac got the next goal and Sweden got one more goal before the period ended.

Gemma groaned as she just got crossed checked in the chest and her chin got whacked making her start bleeding. She brought her glove up covering her chin and narrowed her eyes seeing the smugness coming off the Sweden player before Ryan hip checked the player away.

Gemma quickly let the trainers check her and it was luckily just a cut under her chin and she just got it quickly glued.

Gemma hoped over the board for her next shift and she knew she was going to score on this shift.

Gemma smirked slightly as she easily skated by the player who cross checked her and hit a snipe shot right into the top corner.

Gemma actually did a celly for once and she took a bow as she skated by the Sweden bench inspired by Luke.

Ryan was laughing and immediately gave her a high five loving her riling up the other team, it was rare to see Gemma sassy or annoyed and he always found it very amusing.

Ryan got the next goal with an assist from Gemma and he blew a kiss to the Sweden team.

Gemma wiped her chin with her glove feeling the cut opening up a bit again but ignored it as there was under a minute left.

Rutger scored the next goal making the game 6-2.

Gemma was sitting on the bench and watched as Lane got shoved and a fight started and Lane didn’t back down at all.

Gemma laughed sharing a look with a laughing Ryan making Gabe and Will shake their heads fondly.

Gemma got on the ice for the last few seconds of the third period, she got the puck and shot it across the ice towards the empty net. Getting her third goal of the game, third hat trick of the tournament and US had officially won 7-3.

Winning the goal medal.

Gemma screamed and immediately was hugging her teammates as her gloves and helmet were tossed.

Gemma was squished in between Ryan, Gabe and Will hug beside she eventually hugged all her teammates a million times.

She screamed so much and sung the national anthem so loud with her team.

Gemma was full of wide smiles the entire night and barely even stopped smiling even when she had to get her chin stitched up.

Gemma received MVP of the 2024 WJC with seventeen goals and fourteen assists. She broke so many records in WJC history and got double the amount of most goals ever scored in a WJC tournament before.

She just played some of her best games of her life.

Gemma finished zipping up her black pointed toe heeled boats and grabbed her phone and walked out of her room.

It was New york Rangers vs New Jersey Devils game today.

Meaning Gemma and Macklin will be playing against each other for the first time in the NHL.

Gemma and Macklin both really enjoyed playing on the same team in Chicago but they also really love playing against each other.

Macklin looked up from where he was sitting on their couch in his suit. Macklin froze as he looked at Gemma.

Gemma was wearing his favorite red leather pants with a white sweater and a black and red Devils leatherman jacket.

“Hope.” Macklin groaned rubbing his face. Gemma giggled knowing exactly what he meant.

Macklin stood up and grabbed her waist pulling her to him and pressed a kiss to her lips, “You look stunning.”

Gemma smiled softly grabbing Macklin’s hand squeezing his hand and her thing brushing over his ring she gave him that he never takes off.

Gemma leaned into Macklin’s side as they walked out of their apartment and headed down to their cars.

Macklin walked with Gemma to her car and opened the drivers door for her and let Gemma get into the car and he buckled her up and pressed a kiss to her cheek, “I love you.” Macklin mumbled softly.

“I love you too.” Gemma softly mumbled back making Macklin smile before backing up and closing the door and letting her drive off.

Gemma saw Macklin in her mirrors almost the entire time as she drove until he headed off to pick up Will for once.

Gemma got out of her car and headed into the rink waving softly at the social media photographer for the day.

Gemma walked into the locker room seeing only a few of the boys there and of course Nico was.

Nico raised an eyebrow as she sat down and leaned close to her to whisper, “Are you excited to play him?” Nico asked genuinely curious.

Gemma quickly nodded with an excited smile.

She was also really excited to play against Will. She’s more use to playing with Will than she is Macklin so it will be a bit weird to not be on Will’s line but rather playing against him.

Gemma braided her hair into bubbles braids with her red ribbon, one of Macklin’s favorite hairstyles and started warming up with her team for the first game against their biggest rivalry of the season.

Gemma was doing her warms up on the ice and her warm up tradition with Kovacevic and skated to the bench when she was done.

She was leaning on the boards when a puck her hit her skate and she looked over seeing Macklin and Will giggling together and she shook her head fondly holding back her fond smile.

Luke laughed as he skated to Gemma and saw what Mack and Will were doing as they hit another puck over at Gemma.

Luke tossed a puck across the ice and it hit Macklin’s skate.

Gemma giggled as she reached down and grabbed the puck that Macklin hit and got off the ice with Luke following her.

She headed back to her stall and set the puck in her stall wanting to keep it for memories.

Gemma only sat in her stall for a few minutes before they were heading back in the ice for ths game to start.

Gemma shared a small quick smile with Macklin before they focused onto the game.

Gemma got the puck from Kovacevic and she passed it to Jesper who quickly shot it at the goal and got the first goal of them game.

Gemma bumped shoulders with Jesper smiling at him.

Luke skated up to the net skating around the defensemen with ease before sharply passing the puck back to Gemma, she hit the puck into the net.

Gemma laughed bonking her helmets to Luke’s as Jack, Jesper and Brett gave her head pats.

The second period started and nothing happened the first half of the period until the Devils got a power play and Jack won the draw passing to Jesper who quickly took the puck up and passed back to Jack and Jack faked a shot passing over to Gemma who scored her second goal of the game.

Gemma laughed to herself as she stole the puck from Macklin and passed to Luke and Luke quickly gave the puck to Jack who scored.

Gemma got off the ice sitting down and looked up just as Macklin got the puck and scored a goal. She bit her lip trying to not smile for Macklin.

Gemma went out for next Devils power play again and got the puck from Dougie and passed it to Jack who scored his second goal.

The second period ended with the Devils leading 5-1. Gemma had a point for something in every goal tonight with three assists and two goals by the second period.

The third period was almost over and no else has scored when Dowling hit the puck and it flew right at Macklin’s mouth making him flinch back covering his face immediately.

Gemma inhaled sharply and Luke immediately rested his hand on her arm making sure she’s okay and that she doesn’t reveal anything knowing she wouldn’t that.

“He’s okay.” Luke whispered quietly as Gemma watched intently.

Gemma just squeezed Luke’s hand as she watched Macklin have the trainer wipe his face and add a cream by his lip.

Macklin made eye contact with his girlfriend seeing her worried eyes and he nodded just slightly to reassure her.

Gemma let out a breath and nodded.

Gemma was still worried for the remaining of the game especially as Macklin’s chin was getting more and more bloody.

Gemma tried to celebrate with her team a bit in the locker room after their big win especially when Macklin texted her telling him she was okay but she needed to see him to stop feeling worried.

Gemma took a shower and got dressed and said bye to her team and headed to her car to head home.

Gemma immediately changed into a pair of Macklin’s sweatpants and long sleeve shirt once she got home and she waited on the couch for him to come home as he told her would be later getting checked with the trainers.

Gemma shot up the second the door started opened and rushed over to Macklin.

“I’m okay.” Macklin mumbled softly as she held his arms looking at him worriedly.

“I just got a few stitches.” Macklin softly told her as she slowly let out a breath and nodded.

Gemma hugged him tightly hiding her face in his chest feeling better after seeing he is okay.

“You played so good sweet girl.” Macklin softly cooed carefully kissing the top of her head.

“You did too Amore mio.” Gemma softly mumbled, “Can we go to bed?” Gemma whispered.

“Course.” Macklin whispered back and they started walking to her room.

Gemma yawned as she sat up after taking a nap through out her entire flight to Detroit. Gemma had a pretty early practice this morning and she headed straight to the airport after.

She would be playing at Detroit tomorrow so all of her family was in Detroit even Adam was coming down and he was picking her up at the airport.

Thanksgiving isn’t a huge holiday for Gemma and her family celebrates but they have celebrated it more when her and her sibling starting playing more and more in America.

Gemma doesn’t mind the holiday she just was happy she would get to spent most of the day with her family and the morning tomorrow.

Gemma got off the plane grabbing her duffle bag and heading off the plane and out of the airport. She looked around and saw Adam in his car. She smiled and walked over getting into the car.

“Hi A.” Gemma smiled and quickly leaned over hugging her brother briefly.

“Hi Gemmie.” Adam smiled happily quickly hugging his sister back before driving out of the pick up line.

Gemma and Adam enjoyed the time with each other as Adam drove them to the Airbnb that their parents and Luca were already at.

Gemma and Adam haven’t had a lot time lately just them so it was really nice to just to talk to one another by themselves.

“How’s living with Mack?” Adam asked his little sister curiously, Adam and Luca both knew the second they meet Macklin and saw him with Gemma that they would end up together.

Adam glanced at his sister and saw her whole face light up, “It’s amazing!” Gemma happily chirped, she loves living with Macklin.

Adam smiled.

Adam pulled into the driveway of the Airbnb and they both hopped out of the car grabbing their bags and heading up to the front door and seeing it was unlocked and walked inside.

Gemma and Adam both immediately smelled a bunch of scenes of food cooking and they both perked up at the smell of their Mom cooking.

“My babies!” Julia beamed as she looked up from the kitchen and immediately wiped her hands up walking over pulling them into a hug.

Gemma and Adam both looked of their Mom’s shoulder seeing Luca’s relieved face as he was in an apron and they both know out of the three siblings Luca is the worst in the kitchen.

“Hi Mama.” Gemma happily mumbled leaning into her mother happily.

Julia kisses both of her two kids heads.

“I’ll go change and help you.” Gemma smiled telling her mom making Julia nod and Luca let out a happy sigh that he get out of the kitchen.

“I saw that Luca.” Julia nonchalantly said as she turned back to the stove making Luca awkwardly grimace and Adam and Gemma share a look and start laughing.

Gemma giggled as she grabbed her bag and Luca brought Gemma and Adam to the room they were all staying in, it had a bunk bed and one bed.

“Top bunk!” Gemma cheered with a happy smile, when they use to travel more as a family she usually was too young to sleep on the top bunk.

Adam laughed but tossed his stuff on the bottom bunk as Luca’s stuff was on the other bed.

Gemma headed into the bathroom and changed out of her airport clothes and changed into a purple lounge set and texted Macklin for a few minutes before heading out of the bathroom tossing her bag on the bunk and walking out do the room to the kitchen.

Gemma grabbed an apron and tied it on and started immediately chopping some vegetables, “Where’s Dad?”

“Ran to the store only a few minutes before you both got here.” Julia told her daughter.

Gemma nodded and continued to chop the food up.

Giuliano walked into the house and smiled seeing Adam and Luca on the couch playing videos games and he went over snd said hi to Adam before walking into the kitchen and gave Gemma a hug.

Gemma really enjoyed the whole rest of the day with her family, she got to cook with her mom and eat with her whole family, they spent the rest of the night watching football and playing board games until it was late and everyone went to bed but she spent hours laughing with Adam and Luca when they definitely should’ve been sleeping.

Gemma said bye to Adam early in the morning as he has to get back to Columbus for a game.

Gemma got ready for her game putting on black dress pants, a black sweater, her black pointed boots and a green plaid trench coat.

She got dropped off at the stadium by Luca and walked into the locker room seeing her team had just started walking in right as she got there.

She snuck up behind Jesper and nudged his arm, Jesper look over and smiled seeing Gemma, “Hi Bows how was your thanksgiving?” Jesper asked kindly as they walked together.

“Really great! How was yours and Nicole’s?” Gemma asked curiously back and she smiled as Jesper answered.

Gemma walked into the locker room with Jesper and many of the boys ruffled her hair. Gemma just shook her head good to heading to her stall seeing Nico sitting in his stall already.

“Good seeing your family?” Nico asked her gently.

“Really good.” Gemma nodded back smiling making Nico smile and pat her shoulder.

Gemma warmed up with her team and noticed the protective looks the team was sharing knowing the last time they played Detroit she got hit pretty badly and it was after the game so her team was stopped from retaliating which she knew none of them were happy about.

Gemma got on the ice and smiled seeing her parents and Luca sitting in the stands and she headed for the bench as the game started.

Immediately on the first shift she watched as Haula laid a huge hit onto Rasmussen knocking him to the ground.

Gemma was on the ice and had the puck on her stick when she the whistle was being blown and looked over seeing Kovacevic fighting Rasmussen.

Gemma shook her head fondly at how protective the team is of her.

Detroit scored on their power play and a few minutes they scored another.

The Devil’s got a power player and Gemma had the puck from Jack after Luke passed up the ice to Jack and she took it to the net and backhanded the puck in between the goalies legs getting the first goal for the Devils.

Gemma went out on her next shift during the same power play and got the puck from Nico and smacked the puck into the top left corner.

The first period ended 2-2.

The red wings scored the first goal of the second period.

Gemma was sitting on the bench and cheered seeing Dougie getting a goal and she blinked realizing she is on hatty watch again, she has multiple two goal games but no three goal games yet.

Gemma smiled slightly seeing many of her teammates lay hits on Rasmussen, even Brett was laying a few hits.

Nico scored the next goal tying the game back up 3-3.

Gemma got the puck from Jesper and flicked it back to Jack who quickly took the shot and got the puck into the net.

The Devils ended period two leading 4-3.

Gemma was on the power play in the third period and Jack passed the puck back to her as he crossed the center of the ice in front of the goal and she hit a one timer and the puck went in.

Gemma let out a shocked laugh as she got her first career hat trick in the NHL.

Luke was the closest the her and immediately jumped onto her hugging her and Brett quickly skated over hugging her too.

Jack and Nico skated to her next both healing with pride as Jake wrapped his arks around her and Nico patted her helmet and knocked his helmet to her helmet.

Gemma was giggling happily and she skated to the bench and her whole team was just hugging her and shaking her helmet.

Gemma laughed a few Devils hats got on the ice and Dawson picked up the bucket and tossed it on her helmet.

Keefe gave her a proud hug as she sat on the bench.

Nico patted her knee giving her a proud smile, he was glad he was on the ice for her hat trick because just last game he got his first career hat trick and she was on the ice for his third goal.

Gemma looked up at the stands and saw the smiles on her families faces.

The Devils won 5-3.

Gemma was heading back to the New Jersey right after the game.

Gemma giggled as she watched all the videos and voice memos from Macklin watching the game and her hat trick and him being so proud.

Gemma yawned as she rubbed her eyes waking up after the flight from Prague to New Jersey, she couldn’t wait to till she got off the plane and bus and see Macklin.

Gemma followed Nico off the plane and headed straight to the bus and she she sat on the front row of the bus by her self and pulled out her phone as the rest of the team loaded onto the bus.

The bus’s drove them to the parking lot of the arena where the players all parked it got dropped off.

Gemma was the first player off the bus and saw her stuff and grabbed her suitcase and rolled away from the bus, she leaned on her suitcase as she looked at her phone seeing how far Macklin is.

Gemma scrolled on her phone for a few minutes and saw most of her team was off the bus and already starting to leave.

Jack, Nico, Dawson, Seamus, Simon and Nate all happened to start walking towards Gemma as they all were about to leave.

“G do you have a ride?” Jack asked giving her a worriedly look as he didn’t remember if she drove herself but if she did she would’ve already left and he assumed Macklin would be picking her up.

“Mhm they will be here soon.” Gemma nodded softly having just checked on her find my iPhone where Macklin is, they ended up landing over thirty minutes earlier so Macklin was coming straight from practice.

“And there they are.” Gemma mumbled softly seeing Macklin’s car pull into the parking lot and she waved bye at the boys who were standing near her and walked over to car, she tossed her bags into the backseat before getting into the passenger seat.

“Who is that?” Nate asked curiously as Gemma told them she didn’t have any family nearby so he wondered who would pick her up.

“Her boyfriend probably.” Seamus nonchalantly said as he saw his ride and walked away too.

“Bows has a boyfriend?” Dawson spluttered out looking shocked, he was looking at Seamus for answers but Seamus kept walking to the car.

Jack let out a small snicker at Nate’s, Simon’s Dawson’s shock and Nico’s surprise and waved bye to the boys and started heading to his car with Nico shaking his head and following Jack, Nico figured Jack knew more about Gemma having a boyfriend.

Gemma let out a happy sigh as she closed the door and finally saw Macklin, she leaned over the center console immediately and wrapped her arms around him leaning into him happily.

“Hi baby.” Macklin cooed immediately wrapping his arms around her kissing the top of her head multiple times, “I missed you.”

“I missed you too.” Gemma softly whispered against his chest letting out a happy sigh as she was back with her boy.

“Let’s get you home.” Macklin softly told her as they pulled back from each other and Macklin put his hand on her thigh and she leaned on his arm as he started driving.

Gemma didn’t even need to start telling him everything that happened when she was away because she already told him everything on facetime.

Gemma let out a sigh of relief as Macklin worked the car in their parking lot and Macklin walked around opening her door before grabbing her bags from the back.

Gemma held Macklin’s free hand as they walked up to their apartment, Gemma opened the door and immediately took off her shoes and coat as Macklin set down her bags and took off his shoes.

Macklin picked up yer bags and walked down the hallway setting her bags by her door real quick.

Gemma smiled as she walked by the dining room seeing her two vases filled with flower bouquets mostly pink flowers, “You picked out beautiful ones.” Gemma softly told Macklin as he walked back to her.

Macklin smiled and pressed a kiss to her cheek. He’s been picking out flowers for her for years now and he’s pretty great at it.

“What do you need to do?” Macklin asked quietly pressing a kiss to the side of her head wrapping his arms around her.

“Just unpack and shower.” Gemma answered making Macklin nod.

“Well let’s go do that.” Macklin softly pulled Gemma to her room and grabbed her bags setting them down. Gemma smiled slightly as she looked at her bed seeing it wasn’t perfectly made because Macklin slept in her bed when she was away.

Gemma sat down on the floor next to Macklin as he unzip her suitcase.

She started pulling out of all her dirty clothes and Macklin grabbed her toiletry bag walking to her bathroom and unpacking the bag.

Gemma put away the clothes that were still clean and all her shoes as Macklin came out from her bathroom and tossed her dirty clothes in her hamper.

Macklin closed the empty suitcase and pushed it out of her room into the hallway for now.

Gemma unpacked her back pack real quick and saw the two things in there for Macklin. She put everything else away just as Macklin walked back into her room and she patted for him to sit down next to her on the edge of her bed.

“What’s this?” Macklin asked her as she handed him the first box.

“The first one was given to me but i have no clue what to do with it.” Gemma explained laughing as she did.

Macklin laughed too once he opened the box seeing it was a men’s rolex and way to big for Gemma, “This was for the first star right?” Macklin checked making her hum nodding.

“Thank you.” Macklin pressed a kiss to her cheek and gently set the box down on the bed as she handed him a small box like a ring box.

“Are you proposing?” Macklin teased with a gentle smirk making her fondly roll her eyes nudging him.

Macklin opened the ring box and his eyes widened in awe as he looked at the ring, it was beautiful and the gem was a mixed red and blue, “It’s us.” Macklin immediately said.

“That’s why i got it.” Gemma softly mumbled to him as Macklin slipped it on his finger.

“I love it thank you.” Macklin pressed a gentle kiss to her lips smiling softly at her.

“Of course.” Gemma softly smiled back and stood up holding out her hand, “Shower?” Gemma offered making Macklin grin immediately.

Macklin just grinned and picked her up by her thighs making her squeal with laughter.

Gemma was finally back home.

Gemma sleepily leaned into a warm touch on her cheek and her eyes fluttered open seeing a smiling Macklin sitting on the bed cupping her cheek.

“Mack.” Gemma mumbled sitting up sleepily wnd immediately falling into Macklin feeling his chest rumbling as he laughed fondly.

“Hi my sweet girl.” Macklin fondly spoke wrapping his arms around her and stroking her hair and leaning down pressing a kiss to the top of her head.

Macklin leaned his cheek on top of her head closing his eyes enjoying having his girl in his arms again.

“I missed you.” Gemma mumbled sleepily pressing a kiss to Macklin’s chest feeling her eyes fluttering shut.

“I missed you.” Macklin mumbled just as softly back and could feel her body relaxing and knew she was gonna fall asleep.

Macklin shifted them so he laying on his back and Gemma was mostly laying on his stomach as he rubbed her back and kissed her head before closing his eyes too.

Macklin could use some cuddling and a nap with his Gemma.

Gemma stirred a few hours later her whole body extremely comfortable and warm, she hummed and she cuddled closer to her pillow before her eyes opened remembering Macklin got home and she was cuddling with him.

She lifted her head smiling lovingly seeing Macklin’s peaceful face and she admired him leaning closer and nudging her nose against his cheek making him twitch and his lips turned up slightly.

Gemma pressed a kiss to Macklin’s cheek making him smile completely and open up his eyes looking down at her seeing Gemma starring at him already.

“Morning pretty girl.” Macklin mumbled his voice raspy and he smiled even more as Gemma leaned up ana pressed a kiss to his lips mumbling a good morning.

Macklin smiled happily as he kept his lips pressed against hers as he flipped them around with Gemma now on her back.

After they spent some time together and took a shower they both got dressed in comfortable clothes.

Macklin was pressing kisses to Gemma’s neck and shoulder as he brushed out her wet hair for her making her giggle softy at the ticklish feeling.

Macklin finished brushing her hair and they headed to their kitchen together and Gemma paused seeing a beautiful bouquet of roses sitting on the kitchen counter and a package of her favorite frosted cookies.

“When did you?” Gemma looked at Macklin confused as he only came home this morning.

“I stopped on the way back.” Macklin nonchalantly replied, he had gotten back in New york early this morning and stopped by the store for Gemma.

Gemma shook her head fondly and pressed a kiss on his cheek.

Macklin started making them coffees as that is about all Gemma lets him do in the kitchen as she made a quick egg scramble that they both love.

Macklin set their coffees at the bars stools and grabbed plates for Gemma to put their breakfast on.

Gemma and Macklin sat down at their barstools and just rambled with each other as they ate breakfast or really a late brunch because it was already past noon.

Macklin gave her a look when she tried to help get the dishes and he brought their dishes to the sink washing them as Gemma stayed at the barstool.

Macklin walked back to her and rested his chin on her shoulder, “I have a present for you.” Macklin whispered pressing a kiss to her neck. They were apart for their one year anniversary so they both still had a present to give each other.

“I have a present for you too.” Gemma whispered back smiling as she got up and walked down the hallway grabbing a large bag from her closest and saw Macklin had a small bag in his hand.

“You go first.” Gemma encouraged as they sat down next to each other on their couch.

Macklin slowly pulled something out of the bag and made a shocked sound as he looked at the present, it was a large painted canvas and the painting was both of them in their own team jersey’s on the ice.

“This is awesome.” Macklin grinned at the painting, it was so cool, “Thanks baby.” Macklin pressed a kiss to her cheek.

Gemma smiled glad Macklin liked it.

Macklin handed her the little bag and she opened it and froze, “No way.” Gemma squealed softly and jumped onto Macklin hugging, “Thank you thank you thank you.” Gemma kissed all over Macklin’s face making him blush and laugh.

Macklin got her Gracie Abrams tickets in a few weeks. Macklin has know for years Gemma’s two favorite artists is Taylor Swift and Gracie Abrams and they had already went to the Era’s Tour and saw Gracie opening. So he knew Gemma would be so happy to see Gracie in concert.

“And we have dinner reservations tonight.” Macklin told her once she got back up and stopped thanking him. He was making sure Gemma got treated the way she deserves.

“Fancy?” Gemma titled her head curiously.

“Of course.” Macklin scoffed playfully making her giggle.

After that they just cuddled together on the couch and got caught up with their shows until they had to get up and get ready for dinner.

Macklin looked at the time and knew Gemma would want to get up now to get ready and he shifted his arms under her and stood up off the couch with her in his arms making her squeal with laughter and clung to him making him smile and kiss her cheek as he carried her to her room.

Macklin set Gemma down on the stool in front of her vanity in her bathroom and pressed a kiss on her head, “Can i stay?” Macklin hopefully asked as if Gemma would ever say no.

“Always.” Gemma smiled fondly as Macklin just plopped down on the floor and she ran a hand across his hair as he rested his cheek on her thigh looking at her.

Whenever they are both together when she is getting ready Macklin always wants to sit next to her and on the floor even if she offered a chair or even a pillow for him to sit on he just sits on the floor.

Gemma did a little bit of makeup enjoying the rare times she is able to do her makeup and did a few lite curls on her hair.

Macklin stood up once she finished her hair and leaned down kissing her forehead before heading to his room to get dressed and ready.

Gemma added her bracelet that Macklin got her with a little heart charm and a few vintage rings with her everyday little sliver hoops and her 17 necklace.

Gemma went into her closet looking at her more fancy dresses and pulled out a dress one of her newest dresses that she hasn’t worn yet and put it on. It was all purple silk and was simple dress down to her ankles with no sleeves and an open back. She knew Macklin would love the color.

Gemma slipped a pair of black pointy toe heels and grabbed her phone walking out of her room seeing Macklin waiting by the front door.

Macklin looked up and froze his jaw dropping, Gemma slowly walked over to him admiring his gray dress pants and black buttons down long sleeve shirt with black dress shoes.

Gemma smiled at Macklin freezing and watched as he shook his head smiling, “Gemma you look stunning.” Purple is one of his favorite colors on her.

Gemma flushed at his praise as her hands rested on his chest and looked up at him.

“Beautiful.” Macklin mumbled with an admiring smile with his hands resting on her waist.

“You look handsome.” Gemma softly brushed her hand across his brushed hair.

Macklin smiled and turned around grabbing her black trench coat knowing that is the jacket she will want with her dress.

Macklin helped her put her jacket on and she handed him her phone and he slipped it into his pocket before putting on his own black jacket.

Macklin offered her his arm and smiled and linked her arm with his as they walked out of their apartment to head to their one year anniversary date.

Gemma rested her head on his shoulder smiling contently.

Gemma looked out the window as the plane started to descend over Michigan, she was excited to play in Detroit for many reason, one she gets to finally play with Luke as this will be his first game back, two her parents and Luca will be at the games, three Luca was coming with some of his friends who she has missed and four she gets to see Ellen and Jim. The only downsides was she was leaving soon after the game so she would get a lot of time with her everyone but maybe like a hour and Adam wasn’t coming.

“You excited?” Luke nudged her softly making her look away from the window and at him.

Gemma immediately sat next to Luke when they got on the plane as Luke would be joining them for the road trip and she’s been wanting to sit next to him.

“To play with you definitely.” Gemma grinned looking extremely excited to play with Luke again, they only have just recently gotten to play with each other at Worlds over the summer.

Luke’s face shifted into a soft smile at her words, he was looking forward to play with her again, “I’m looking forward to that too.”

Luke nudged her softly making her laugh slightly and nudge him back.

“Is Adam coming?” Luke asked with a curious look but he had small look in his eyes that Gemma didn’t know what it was.

“No, he couldn’t come.” Gemma smiled tightly as she really is missing her brother and hasn’t seen him in quite a while.

“I’m sorry.” Luke softly mumbled wrapping an arm around her shoulder, he understood wanting your older brothers at your games but they couldn’t, he had a lot of games that he wished Jack or Quinn could’ve came to.

“It’s okay.” Gemma mumbled back understanding why Adam can’t come but she still missed him.

Gemma leaned her head on Luke’s shoulder till the plane landed and they could start getting off the plane and into the bus.

Gemma sat next to Luke again on the bus as the bus was loaded up and then they headed to the rink and they would end up being a bit earlier than normal then they are for warm up’s.

Gemma was wearing a white suit that had purple flowers scattered across the suit and purple loafers.

The team arrived quite earlier to the arena so they were having team lunch at the rink before they started warming up later.

Gemma plopped down with Luke next to her and Jack stole the other spot next to her and Brett sat down next to Luke, Jesper, Jonas, Dougie and Nico on the other side of the table.

The eight at the table waited for the rest of their teammates to get up and get their food before they got up and got their food too.

Gemma made a very excited sound as she saw spring rolls as they at some of her favorite food ever making Luke laugh fondly as he watched her and she grabbed a few putting them on her plate.

Gemma headed back to the table with Luke and they were the last back and Gemma had such an excited smile as she picked up a spring roll and she was about to take a bite but frowned smelling something.

“Luke.” Gemma whispered trying to only catch Luke’s attention but most do the table looked over, “Can you test it?” Gemma whispered, she has a very bad allergy with peanuts and she can kinda smell peanut butter in the spring rolls.

Luke is really the only one who knows about her allergy besides the devils chefs who didn’t travel with them today and the trainers know.

Luke immediately grabbed the spring room not wanting her holding it if it has peanuts and he took a bite immediately tasting peanuts in the sauce, he quickly grabbed the springs rolls off Gemma’s plate.

Gemma let out a long disappointed sigh seeing Luke taking the spring rolls knowing what it means.

“Wait why can’t you eat them?” Jack looked confused and he frowned at Gemma’s disappointed face.

“It has peanuts.” Gemma spoke dejectedly as she just wanted spring rolls.

“Are you allergic?” Nico asked with a sad frown, he felt terrible he didn’t know one of his teammates had an allergy especially as she is a rookie and he’s know her for two months now.

“Yeah mostly everything bothers me but airborne.” Gemma explained to the boys at the table, she didn’t really bring up her allergy often and she didn’t check the food she grabbed because she has gotten so use to the devils chefs knowing she can’t have peanuts and if there’s peanuts on something they label it.

Brett got up from the table and walked away as the rest of the body asked more about her allergy.

Brett came back a few minutes later with a plate in his hand and handed it to Gemma, “Peanut free spring rolls.” Brett gave her a kind smile, he had noticed that she was very happy about the spring rolls before the peanuts and he saw the chef making more at the kitchen so asked him to not put any sauce on them.

Gemma’s whole face lite up in a beaming smile, “Thank you!” Gemma immediately started eating a spring roll humming happily as she munched on it.

Gemma finished lunch and sat around for a little while just talking with a lot of her teammates before they all started getting ready for warm ups.

Gemma was sitting in her stall after warming up with team and she put her hair in a low ponytail and spit the ponytail into two braids with her red ribbons tied on the ends.

She was chewing on a pregame snack when Keefe walked in, “Alright we have a special guest for the line up today.” He had a mischievous smile as he glanced at Gemma making her eyes furrow and Luke grinned knowing what it was as he planned the person to come with Nico.

“You can come in.” Keefe called out and Adam walked in with Gemma’s Devils jersey on.

Gemma’s jaw dropped as she saw her brother walk into the room.

Adam grinned at her shocked look, “If you couldn’t tell by the jersey i’m here for Gemma.” Adam proudly showed off the jersey he had on making the boys all cheer and clap.

“Starting on right wing Bratt! Starting on center Jack and starting on left wing Gemma!!!” Adam announced the starting offensive line making the whole cheer and clap.

“On defense on the left side Hughesy and the right side Pesce!” The room cheered even louder for the pair for their first game back.

“And in the goal Markstrom!”

Gemma immediately got up once Adam was done and quickly hugged her brother, “Hey Adamo.” Gemma mumbled in italian.

“Little sister.” Adam cooed back in italian, it was one of his favorite things about being with family was speaking in their native language.

“I didn’t know you were coming?” Gemma looked confused as Adam told her he count come.

“Lukey helped me surprise you.” Adam told her making her nod, “Go play your game i’ll see you after.” Adam pressed a kiss to her forehead and she waved bye as he walked out.

“You speak Italian!!” Nate looked flabbergasted as the whole room heard her speaking Italian.

“My family is from Italy?” Gemma replied back titling her head confused.

“Oh.” Dawson grimaced realizing it was kinda obvious.

“Another multi language speaker in the room.” Timo patted her shoulder with a proud grin as she walked by to Luke’s stall.

“Thank you.” Gemma gave him a thankful look knowing he helped Adam surprise her.

“Course Emmie.” Luke smiled back.

Gemma headed to the ice and warmed up before the game started.

Gemma looked up at the stands and saw her family, some of her brothers friends and Ellen and Jim Hughes in the stands all together, she wave up at them as Jack and Luke skated over and waved at their parents and Luke’s friends.

The game started and half way in the first half of the period Gemma passed the puck to Nico during the penalty play and he scored the first goal of the game.

The red wings quickly scored their first goal and in thirty seconds later they scored their second too.

Second period started and Luke passed the puck up the ice to Gemma and Gemma quickly skated around the defenseman and easily getting the puck into the goal.

Gemma beamed quickly skating to Luke and hugging him as he got his first point of the season.

Third period started and the red wings scored again and Nico scored again on the power play with Gemma and Jack assisting.

It was tied 3-3 getting close to the end of the third period when the red wings scored again.

With thirty seconds left in the game the red wings player wrapped around the empty net and hit the puck at the goal just as Gemma got there trying to stop the goal and he slammed into her once the puck went into the goal knocking her harshly to the ice.

Michael Rasmussen stood over Gemma after he smacked her to the ground and started chirping her not letting her get up. He kept his legs around her stomach looking down at her making extremely uncomfortable especially with what he was saying to her.

Timo immediately was skating over and shoved the player away from Gemma and slamming him into the boards

Jack quickly went to Gemma as Stefan quickly skated in front of Jack and Gemma standing protectively in front of them as the other red wing players came closer.

Gemma winced as she tried to move off her back, she got rattled good hitting the ice that hard and it didn’t feel good. Jack rested a hand on her shoulder helping her slowly sit up as the medical trainers came out to her after she didn’t get up right away.

Gemma slowly stood up with the help of Jack and Stefan, it didn’t feel like she injured anything but her whole back was already getting sore.

Gemma headed to the bench with Jack holding her and even if she said she was fine and Stefan staying close by with the trainers.

Keefe told her to go down the tunnel to get checked as there was only thirty seconds and gave her a stern glance when she tried to argue.

Gemma gave Luke a reassuring nod as she saw his worry and headed down the tunnel with the medical team, she had a quick exam and was quickly cleared of no injury just taking it easy and heat her back later.

Gemma walked into the locker room and the boys were already all in there and she reassured all of them she was fine and she quickly headed to the shower wanting to be with her family before they have to leave.

Gemma put her suit back on and brushed our her wet hair and grabbed her things and quickly looked at her phone seeing a lot of worried texts from Macklin and quickly sent him a text she was okay before seeing Jack and Luke just finished up too and she walked out with them seeing both of their families and friend waiting together.

Gemma slowly walked to her brothers hugging them both at the same time as they gingerly hugged her back seeing her hit the ice good.

“You played awesome.” Adam proudly smiled at his baby sister as they pulled back ruffling her wet hair slightly.

“Amazing.” Luca smiled proudly.

Gemma saw her mom was waiting for hug looking worried and she hugged her, “I’m fine Mama.” Gemma softly whispered making her mom nod softly.

Gemma hugged her dad after she hugged her mom.

“Mrs. Hughes!” Gemma beamed as she walked over to Ellen and Jim, Ellen has always been in awe of Ellen and loves watching old games of Ellen playing.

“Gemma.” Ellen smiled fondly at the young girl, “How many times have i told you to call me Ellen.”

“A lot?” Gemma sheepishly answered as Ellen hugged her softly.

Gemma waved softly as Jim sharing a nod and smile with him.

“Little Fants!” Nick grinned as she walked over to the Umich boys, he tossed an arm over her shoulder giving her a side hug.

“Hi Molds.” Gemma softly spoke to her old teammate.

Gemma unfortunately only got a few minutes with her friends and family before she had to head to the bus.

“I’ll see you thanksgiving.” Gemma mumbled as her mom hugged her as tightly as possible with her sore back.

“I know.” Julia smiled bittersweet and cupped her daughter’s cheek looking at her proudly and kissed her forehead.

Gemma said bye to her family and friends and leaned into Jack’s side as they walked to the bus.

Gemma let out a small sigh as they walked away, she now just wanted to get home to Macklin and luckily he would be home when she got home as he had a home game today.

mom trip

November 22, 2024

Gemma was eating a bowl of yogurt with fruit and granola texting Macklin as she waited for her mom to finish packing up her suitcase for the road game.

“Ready?” Gemma asked washing her bowl as her mom came walking in with her suitcase and purse.

Julia nodded and grabbed her jacket putting it on.

Gemma grabbed her tiny suitcase and backpack and her keys by the front door and they headed to her car and she drove them to the rink.

Gemma grabbed both of their suitcases and tossed her backpack on and her mom followed her into the arena.

Gemma set the suitcases on a cart that goes to the bus seeing a few other suitcases there and brought her mom to the locker room.

More than half of the body were in the room already with their mom or sister and Gemma brought her mom to her stall.

Julia smiled raising an eyebrow at Gemma seeing flowers above her stall, “Are they from Mack?” Julia asked in Italian with a small teasing smile.

“Yes Mama.” Gemma smiled looking down as she replied in Italian.

Gemma smiled seeing Nico’s mom, Gemma had met Katja yesterday and she easily saw where Nico got his kindness and calmness from.

Katja started talking kindly to Gemma when Gemma sat down next to her as Nico was standing in front of her and Julia sat down next to her daughter.

Nico smiled slightly seeing how much his mom already likes Gemma and he thought it was adorable how much Gemma already likes his mom and they are talking to each other very contently.

The media team went around taking photos of the Devils and their person before the players all headed onto the ice for practice and took a team photo with the moms and sisters before they had practice.

All of the Devils finished practice and got cleaned up before everyone headed to the bus to take them to the airport.

Gemma sat down on the isle seat with her mom at the window seat, they sat at the card table with Nico and his mom in front of her and Luke and Jack with their mom and aunt right across the isle from Gemma.

Gemma just happily chatted with Luke, Jack and Nico and their moms through out the flight.

She laughed way too hard at all the stories Ellen and Katja have of the boys and her mom did share a few of her so it was fair.

The flight wasn’t long and they landed in Washington and got off the plane heading straight to the bus that headed straight to the hotel.

Gemma rolled her suitcase as she headed up to her room with her mom and she walked in and set her bags down before hopping onto the bed immediately making Julia just shake her head fondly because some parts of Gemma will never change.

Gemma went on her phone for good while just texting Macklin and her brothers as Julia laid down on the other bed and read some of her book.

They both just relaxed for a good while before they had to get up and get ready for dinner. The Devils organization organized a fancier dinner for the Mom trip.

Gemma sat at the desk and let her mom curl her hair knowing she doesn’t get a lot of moments with her Mom anymore.

Gemma did her makeup lightly while her mom did her hair.

Gemma smiled softly at her Mom as she stood up once Julia finished her hair and grabbed her outfit herself to the bathroom letting her Mom get ready.

Gemma really loves wearing dresses but she doesn’t get a lot of opportunities to wear them so she takes all the chances she get.

She had an all black long flowly sleeves and down to her ankles black dress with an open back.

Gemma fixed her 17 necklace and slipped on one of her favorite bracelets that belonged to her late grandmother and a pair of small gold hoops Adam got for her last birthday.

Gemma came out do the bathroom and let her mom go in and change and she sat on the bed and boot on a pair of black boots and took a picture in the mirror sending it Macklin.

She was immediately spammed with text messages.

Gemma felt her cheeks burn as she smiled at Macklin’s texts and quickly responded to him.

She put her phone in her purse when her mom came out and they both grabbed their jackets and headed out of their room and met with the team down in the lobby.

Nico smiled gently at his youngest teammate seeing her look very pretty, “You look amazing Gem.” Nico complimented his rookie making her smile.

“He’s right.” Jack nodded in agreement smiling at Gemma.

Luke tossed an arm over Gemma’s shoulder pulling her close to him, “Did Mack see the dress?” Luke whispered with a teasing smirk.

Gemma blushed smiling shyly making Luke laugh immediately knowing Macklin definitely liked it.

Julia smiled fondly it’s been wonderful seeing how well Gemma fits in with the team but also how much the boys all love her but respect her.

Ellen smiled she remembered the first time she heard about Gemma and it was Luke who was talking a lot about meeting Gemma and how adorable she was. She has seen how Gemma has become a little sister to Luke and someone Luke really looks after. She watched how Gemma met Quinn and Jack and became just as important to those two.

Ellen was grateful for Gemma because Gemma has given her boys a sister.

Katja heard so much about Gemma from Nico once he met Gemma but she also watched the draft with Nico and saw how excited Nico was to have Gemma on his team. Katja was proud of how respectful and protective Nico is of Gemma.

The Hughes, Hischier’s and Fantili’s all sat together at one table for dinner and had an amazing dinner.

November 23, 2024

Gemma spent the morning in some video meetings with her team as her Mom was with the other moms taking a tour around DC.

Gemma headed to the arena with her team and got ready for the game against the Capitals.

Gemma just did a simple french braid with her red ribbons tied in a bow on the end of her braid before heading onto the ice for the game.

The Devils beat the capitals 3-2. Gemma had one assist.

Gemma showered after the game and met with her mom outside of the locker room. The team was flying back tonight and her mom would be staying at the airport in New Jersey heading back home to Toronto.

Gemma wasn’t to sad saying bye to her Mom because she would see her family in a week for Thanksgiving and when she plays at Detroit.

What Gemma was excited for was seeing Macklin tomorrow because he is coming home.

Gemma was smiling as she listened to Macklin talk to her through facetime as she was getting ready for her first NHL game.

She loved the suit she had for her draft and went back to the same place to get her suit made for her first game, she chose an all red suit with the vest and everything and it was a velvet material.

Gemma was buttoning up her vest and noticed Macklin had stopped talking and looked up noticing he was staring at her, “Mack.” Gemma whined covering her face as her cheeks were burning, she knew exactly what his look is.

“What?” Macklin grinned seeing her being shy, “How can i not admire my pretty girl.” Macklin smiled flirting with his girlfriend.

Gemma let out a small smile and peeked out from behind her hands as her entire face was flushed, “Mack.” Gemma softly mumbled.

Macklin grinned even wider and took multiple screenshots of her.

“Stop!” Gemma laughed as she watched the screenshot go off a bunch.

Macklin just shrugged with a smile but did stop as she asked him too.

“Hey you’re gonna do amazing today.” Macklin pipped in giving her a soft but serious look, he wished he could be there for her first game but unfortunately he couldn’t be and she wouldn’t be able to be at his first game either.

Gemma softly nodded, “Thanks Amore.”

She slipped on her black boots and threw her blazer jacket on and fixing her seventeen necklace.

“Do a spin please.” Macklin softly asked as he looked at the screen eagerly, he always have loved red on Gemma.

Gemma smiled shyly and spun around to Macklin, “Absolutely beautiful my love.” Macklin lovingly told her.

“Thank you.” Gemma softly mumbled back with flushed cheeks again.

“Go talk to your brothers i’ll talk to you tonight, I love you and you’re going to do amazing.” Macklin softly spoke to her.

Gemma smiled softly picking up her phone, “I love you, talk to you tonight Macky.” Gemma blew him a soft kiss making him grin and catch the kiss before she hung up.

Gemma clicked on the facetime with Luca and Adam and Luca answered first and a few moments later Adam joined.

“Happy first game day Gems!” Luca softly cheered with a proud smile, he was incredibly disappointed he wasn’t able to come out and see her first game but hopefully he could make it a home game soon to see her play.

“Welcome to the NHL Gemmie!” Adam playfully sung out with a wide proud smile. He was sad with his own schedule he wouldn’t be able to come out and see her first game especially as she saw came to see his.

“Thanks guys.” Gemma softly spoke smiling at her older brothers, it was a bit disappointing to realize that only her parents could be at her first game but at least they would be here because when she won the gold medal she had no family there.

“I’m sorry i couldn’t make it.” Luca apologized frowning slightly.

“It’s okay.” Gemma accepted his apology and she talked with her brothers for a little while more before she said her goodbyes and grabbed her things leaving her hotel room.

Gemma walked down to the lobby seeing a lot of the team there already and waiting for the bus to show up.

Gemma walked over to Seamus and talked with him until the bus came and she headed into the bus sitting next to Jack.

Gemma walked into the arena with her team heading to the locker room.

Gemma headed to her stall sitting down and getting ready for warms up. She followed some of her team to play sewer to warm up for a little while before they all headed to the locker room getting their hockey equipment on.

Gemma spilt her hair into two and started french braiding her hair, she likes to always have some time of braid in her hair when she is playing and two french braids are one of her favorites. She tied off the braids and reached back into her stall grabbing her roll of red ribbon that she always wears for games only.

Gemma has been tying red ribbon bows on her hair for years now and it’s something she does for every game.

Gemma tied the ribbons into bows around both braids and tossed the roll back into her stall.

“Do you always do bows?” Dawson asked curiously as he was watched her tie the bows, he had saw the ribbons in the stall and was curious what they are used for.

“Always.” Gemma nodded softly.

“Bows.” Nate grinned from where he sat next to Dawson.

“Ohh yes that’s a good nickname.” Dawson immediately agreed with Nate.

“Bows.” Dougie grinned as he walked by tugging softly on her braid.

Gemma smiled slightly at the nickname not minding.

Gemma stood up and started walking out of the locker room getting high fives and pats on the head as she headed to the ice for her rookie lap with Seamus.

Gemma and Seamus shared a smile and a fist bump before Gemma hopped onto the ice first with Seamus right behind her.

They passed the puck back and forth with each other and took a few shots on the goal before heading towards the bench and the rest of the team joined them on the ice.

Gemma giggled as Jack playfully sook her shoulders giving her a proud smile before she skated around warming up.

She perked up as Jonathan passed her a puck and gestured for her to pass it back, Gemma and Kovacevic passed the pack and fourth with each other and he let her pass the puck around his legs until they had to go off the ice until the start of the game.

Gemma got to stand on the ice for the national anthem for her first game and was on the starting line with Palat and Nico and then after the first shift they would go back to their lines.

Gemma focused on the ice and smiled as she realized she finally did it, she made it in the NHL and she’s starting her first game.

She loved it immediately, the game is already faster and harder than she is used to but she loves it and was playing incredible.

Gemma was on her fourth shift of the first period the score was still 0-0 and it was the first power play for the Devils.

Nico passed the puck across the ice to Jack and Jack went around the back of the net passing the puck across the front of the goal right to Gemma, Gemma hit the puck into the goal and she blinked her smile growing as she realized she just scored her first goal.

Gemma giggled as Jack got to her first and immediately hugging her as Nico came to her next giving her endless head pats and Jesper hugged her from the other side. Dougie and Kovacevic quickly joined the hug all of them congratulating her.

Gemma was let go after a little while and when she skated to the bench she didn’t notice Nico grab the puck.

Gemma high fived her whole team with a proud beaming smile before she sat down on the bench.

Keefe gave her shoulder a proud shake before patting her shoulder.

Before she knew the second period was already starting and the score was still 1-0.

Gemma had the puck on her stick and flicked it back to Jonathan who took the puck and shot it, getting a goal.

Gemma smiled widely as she skated over hugging Kovacevic.

Jonathan smiled at his first goal with the Devils but also shook Gemma excitedly as she just got her first assist.

Gemma was continuing to play amazing so she kept her sent out more and more and was sent out with Nico and Paul for a shift.

Cotter had the puck skating up the ice and passed it to Gemma who took the puck close to the ice and didn’t look when she flicked it right to Nico, who shot it right into the goal.

The Devil’s were now leading 3-1.

The third period started and Buffalo managed to finally get a goal halfway through the third period.

Gemma had a breakaway and glanced up and shot the puck right into the top corner of the net, gaining her second goal of the game.

Gemma was giggling as her teammates on the ice all hugged her and gave her head pats.

The Devils won the first game against Buffalo 4-1.

Gemma had two goals and two assists in her first NHL game.

Obviously Gemma got the first star of the game and was very perplexed why she was given a Rolex but just smiled softly and didn’t question it.

Gemma stepped into the locker room and immediately was drenched in water from her team making her laugh as they all cheered for her.

Gemma managed to get away from the water after a little bit and sat on her stall.

Nico plopped down next to her and gave her shoulder a soft proud squeeze, “You played an amazing game.” Nico complimented her giving her gentle smile and held out his hand holding two pucks.

“Are these?” Gemma perked up as she saw the writing on the pucks and gently picked them up.

“Your first goal and your first assist.” Nico smiled at her, he is usually the one who tries to grab the special pucks for his team.

“Thank you.” Gemma sweetly smiled at her captain and he gave her a gentle nod, “Nico?”

Nico hummed giving her his attention.

“What am i’m supposed to do with a Rolex?” Gemma sheepishly asked holding up the bag, she’s pretty sure it won’t even fit her right now.

Nico couldn’t help but laugh, “You can keep it and not wear it, give it to someone or get it resized to wear.”

Gemma nodded slightly she knew she wasn’t going to wear maybe Macklin would.

Gemma listened to Keefe talking to them after the game before she was allowed to head to the showers and got dressed back in her suit before grabbing her few things and walking out of the locker room.

Gemma walked out and saw her mom and dad waiting for her and she quickly walked over to them hugging them both at the same time.

“Our Gem you were incredible.” Julia softly cooed smiling at her only daughter.

Giuliano pressed a kiss to his daughter’s cheek, “Amazing Gem.”

Gemma smiled at her parents and leaned into the them as they walked out of the arena and headed to a small restaurant to get dinner together.

Gemma really wanted pizza so they found the cutest little pizza restaurant and face timed Adam and Luca.

It wasn’t perfect because Adam and Luca weren’t there but it was almost perfect and that’s good enough for Gemma.

Gemma spent a few hours with her parents and on the phone with her brothers before she was getting exhausted and headed back to the hotel.

Gemma quickly got into a pair of Macklin’s sweatpants and t-shirt and got into bed cuddling with her flower bouquet stuff animal immediately face timing Macklin.

“HOPEY!” Macklin cheered the second he answered the call, “You were so incredibly love!” Macklin had a proud smile on his face.

Gemma smiled softly, “Thanks Macky.”

Macklin started to ramble about everything he loved she did in the game and her eyes started fluttering shut listening to his voice as she eventually fell asleep.

Macklin smiled lovingly seeing her fast asleep.

The next game went just as good for Gemma, she got one goal and an assist on Seamus’s first goal, The Devils won that game too meaning they won both games in Prague.

Gemma unfortunately was not able to get to Pittsburgh to be at Macklin’s first NHL game, something that made her incredibly sad but Macklin completely understood especially as he couldn’t make it to her first game.

Gemma was sitting on their couch wearing Macklin’s Ranger hoodie as she watched the Rangers win 6-0 against the penguins and Macklin got his first goal and assist.

Gemma was beaming proudly watching Macklin but became worried when Macklin slipped and went weird into the boards and he took a while to get up, she saw how he hit the hip that was still healing.

Gemma bit her lip as she watched how slowly Macklin got up but he didn’t go down the tunnel so that made her feel a bit better.

Gemma still was extremely worried the rest of the game and she could tell Macklin was in pain.

The game ended and it was already late and she knew she needed to try and sleep even if it was unlikely with her worrying about Macklin.

Luckily Macklin and his team was flying back that night so Macklin would be home in a few hours.

Gemma got ready for bed and stayed in clothes she stole from Macklin and went into his room cuddling under his blankets in his bed.

Gemma tossed and turned for a while just worrying about her boyfriend until she decided to go on her phone for a while as she couldn’t sleep.

Gemma didn’t even realize how long she was scrolling on her phone and was focused on the video playing she didn’t hear the door quietly open and Macklin drop his bags and shoes at the door and slowly walked to his room.

Gemma immediately sat up the second Macklin stepped through the doorway, she narrowed her eyes seeing him leaning more on side, “Is it hurt again?” Gemma immediately gently questioned getting out of bed and walking right to Macklin.

“Agitated it, they might have it fully heal before i play again.” Macklin whispered dejectedly having the saddest eyes, it was supposed to be one of the best days of his life but the joy was overshadowed by the pain and the lingering injury.

Gemma’s face soften seeing his sad face, she cupped his face softy bringing her face closer to him, “I’m proud of you. You played amazing amore.” Gemma cooed lovingly as she nudged her forehead to his forehead.

Macklin smiled slightly for the first time in hours. Gemma let out a small sigh of relief glad to know he’s kind of okay, she was worried he got badly injured and only agitating his hip is the best case scenario for him being injured.

“Let’s get you to bed Macky.” Gemma softly whispered seeing how Macklin was just in sweatpants and t-shirt and she gently brought him to his bed.

Macklin laid down on his back finding a comfortable position for his hip as Gemma laid down gently next to him and curled up to him on his good side.

“I love you.” Gemma whispered softly feeling herself finally starting to fall asleep now that she knows Macklin is okay and he’s back with her.

“I love you too Hopey.” Macklin softly whispered pressing a kiss to her head as he pulled the blanket more over her shoulders and they both slowly fell asleep.
