Gemma walked into the locker room for practice and she narrowed her eyes seeing the looks coming from Dawson and Nate specifically, “What?” Gemma questioned confused as she walked closer to her stall.

“You have a boyfriend!” Dawson immediately yelled out still so shocked from when he found out two days ago.

Dawson was so loud that most of the team turned to them.

“Bows has a boyfriend?” Curtis smirked teasingly.

Gemma closed her eyes letting out a small sigh at her teammates, “I do.” Gemma simply said and turned around sitting down at her stall.

“Come on we would like to know more.” Dawson nudged her gently.

“Who told you?” Gemma ignored his question giving him a stern look.

“Shea.” Dawson and Nate said in unison making Seamus make an offended look for being sold out so quickly.

“Rude.” Seamus mumbled giving the two boys betrayed look.

Seamus groan as a roll of tape smacked him and hit his chest, “Dude!” Seamus groaned as he looked up and realized Gemma threw tape at him.

“Really?” Gemma gave her an annoyed look as he barely knew about Macklin for a month and already spilled.

“Lukey please.” Gemma gestured to Seamus and Luke sitting next to Seamus grinned and whacked Seamus on the back of his head.

“Ow! not cool.” Seamus grumbled rubbing his head.

“You barely even knew and now everyone knows.” Gemma grumbled back genuinely annoyed that Seamus spilled her secrets.

Luke seeing Gemma’s annoyance smacked Seamus on the back of the head again.

“Again!” Seamus groaned out scooting away from Luke.

“Dude i’ve know forever and never let anyone else know.” Luke gave a disappointing look to Seamus knowing Gemma and Macklin had serious reasons they wanted to stay private.

Seamus made a sheepish grimace, “Sorry Gemma.” Seamus sincerely apologized for her feeling bad he said anything when she trusted him.

Gemma soften slightly and nodded, “It’s okay.” Gemma whispered softly.

Nico watched with protective eyes and nodded in approval seeing Seamus apologize, “I can make sure no one asks any more questions.” Nico leaned down and whispered quietly to Gemma only, Nico wants her to be comfortable in the locker room and will do whatever she needs.

“It’s okay.” Gemma smiled at Nico’s kind offer though, she knew her teammates were just being curious and while she wished they didn’t know about her relationship she is okay with answering a few questions.

“Just keep it in this room please.” Gemma looked around at her team, a team that was she was growing to love like family and she felt like she could trust them.

“Of course G, no one out of the room will know.” Jack gave her a reassuring look as the rest of the team all nodded.

“Then you guys can ask a few questions.” Gemma offered giving Dawson a small smile knowing he wanted to ask.

“How long have you been together?” Dawson asked curiously.

“Almost a year.” Gemma answered softly smiling slightly at the memory of when Macklin and her got together.

“How did you meet?” Jonathan asked her.

“Hockey.” Gemma chuckled softly as that’s how she meets everyone.

“Does he treat you right?” Nico gave her a serious look, he will complete respect her reason to keep her relationship private but he just wants to make sure she is getting treated the way she deserves to be treated.

“Oh definitely, he worships the ground she walks on. He adores her.” Luke strongly told the team speaking up before Gemma could.

Gemma’s cheeks warmed at Luke’s words knowing they are true.

Nico smiled slightly nodding.

“Do you approve?” Nate asked Luke seriously as anyone can see how protective Luke is over Gemma and Luke would only approve of someone who is good for Gemma.

“One hundred percent.” Luke answered just as seriously back and sent a small grin at Gemma, he’s watched the two go from strangers into friends and lovers and he doesn’t think anyone will every be better for Gemma than Macklin.

“Alright enough questions, get ready for practice.” Nico gave a stern glance at the team seeing Gemma was getting a bit unsettled at all the questions.

The team all listened and started chatting to one another as they all got ready for practice.

“Thank you.” Gemma softly whispered to Nico, she knew if she was gonna introduce Macklin to anyone on the Devil’s it will be Nico first.

“Anytime bows.” Nico gently smiled back at her patting her shoulder before getting ready for practice.

Gemma got ready for practice and headed to the ice to start practice.

Gemma rushed out after practice as she quickly took her equipment off and changed back into her clothes and she was the first to leave the locker room.

She quickly got into her car driving back home, Macklin was leaving in a few hours to head to Pittsburg for his first game tomorrow and she wanted to spend as much time with him before he had to leave.

Gemma hurried up to their apartment and quickly opened the door taking her shoes off and dropping her keys down.

“Mack?” Gemma called out softly not seeing Macklin as she walked in, she heard his voice call back and walked towards her room seeing Macklin laying her bed cuddling with her flower bouquet stuff animal and he shut his phone off when she walked in.

“Hi my love.” Macklin smiled seeing his girlfriend and she immediately got into her bed cuddling to him letting out a happy sigh as Macklin wrapped his arm around her.

“Hi. The team found out i have a boyfriend.” Gemma mumbled against his chest as he softly rubbed her head.

Macklin blinked, “Okay how did they find out?”

“Shea.” Gemma grumbled still annoyed at Seamus.

“Can we smack him?” Macklin asked hopeful making Gemma laugh softly making him smile.

“Luke did already.” Gemma told him.

“Remind me to thank Luke.” Macklin mumbled, “How did they take it?” Macklin gently asked her.

“Good, really good i think, they don’t who it is yet.” Gemma answered softly her eyes struggling to stay open.

Macklin softly nodded and noticed her started to sleep, “Get some sleep i’ll be here.” Macklin softly cooed as she started falling asleep.

Gemma unfortunately was not able to get to Pittsburgh to be at Macklin’s first NHL game, something that made her incredibly sad but Macklin completely understood especially as he couldn’t make it to her first game.

Gemma was sitting on their couch wearing Macklin’s Ranger hoodie as she watched the Rangers win 6-0 against the penguins and Macklin got his first goal and assist.

Gemma was beaming proudly watching Macklin but became worried when Macklin slipped and went weird into the boards and he took a while to get up, she saw how he hit the hip that was still healing.

Gemma bit her lip as she watched how slowly Macklin got up but he didn’t go down the tunnel so that made her feel a bit better.

Gemma still was extremely worried the rest of the game and she could tell Macklin was in pain.

The game ended and it was already late and she knew she needed to try and sleep even if it was unlikely with her worrying about Macklin.

Luckily Macklin and his team was flying back that night so Macklin would be home in a few hours.

Gemma got ready for bed and stayed in clothes she stole from Macklin and went into his room cuddling under his blankets in his bed.

Gemma tossed and turned for a while just worrying about her boyfriend until she decided to go on her phone for a while as she couldn’t sleep.

Gemma didn’t even realize how long she was scrolling on her phone and was focused on the video playing she didn’t hear the door quietly open and Macklin drop his bags and shoes at the door and slowly walked to his room.

Gemma immediately sat up the second Macklin stepped through the doorway, she narrowed her eyes seeing him leaning more on side, “Is it hurt again?” Gemma immediately gently questioned getting out of bed and walking right to Macklin.

“Agitated it, they might have it fully heal before i play again.” Macklin whispered dejectedly having the saddest eyes, it was supposed to be one of the best days of his life but the joy was overshadowed by the pain and the lingering injury.

Gemma’s face soften seeing his sad face, she cupped his face softy bringing her face closer to him, “I’m proud of you. You played amazing amore.” Gemma cooed lovingly as she nudged her forehead to his forehead.

Macklin smiled slightly for the first time in hours. Gemma let out a small sigh of relief glad to know he’s kind of okay, she was worried he got badly injured and only agitating his hip is the best case scenario for him being injured.

“Let’s get you to bed Macky.” Gemma softly whispered seeing how Macklin was just in sweatpants and t-shirt and she gently brought him to his bed.

Macklin laid down on his back finding a comfortable position for his hip as Gemma laid down gently next to him and curled up to him on his good side.

“I love you.” Gemma whispered softly feeling herself finally starting to fall asleep now that she knows Macklin is okay and he’s back with her.

“I love you too Hopey.” Macklin softly whispered pressing a kiss to her head as he pulled the blanket more over her shoulders and they both slowly fell asleep.

Gemma smiled fondly at her mother’s worrying and just let her mother ramble while she hugged her.

Gemma knew her parents were sad and nervous with Gemma moving out officially, it was a bit different than when she was away from home because of hockey and staying with someone or her going to collage, she is officially moving out of her home and starting a new chapter in her life.

“Mom i’ll be fine.” Gemma softly reassured her mom, she knew her mom would be worried because she was just as worried last year when Adam moved out.

“I know.” Julia agreed cupping her youngest cheek, it still shocked her everyday how fast her kids had all grown up and that Gemma is already eighteen.

“I’ll see you in a few weeks.” Gemma reminded her parents squeezing her Dad’s hand.

Gemma was already confirmed to be on the team on the upcoming season and her parents were planning to come see her first game that would be in Prague, unfortunately Adam definitely won’t be able to go and Luca most likely won’t be able to either.

Julia nodded and pressed a kiss to her only daughter’s head, “Ti Amo my Gem.” Julia softly whispered to her daughter.

“Ti Amo Mama.” Gemma sweetly whispered back and politely ignored the tears in her mom’s eye and she hugged her Dad softly.

Giuliano pressed a gentle kiss to his only daughter’s cheek. They didn’t need to share any words just a look with a smile before he let her go and wrapped an arm around his wife.

Luca frowned feeling incredibly old that his baby sister is old enough to live in her own apartment with her boyfriend all alone in a new city, “Are you going to be okay Gems?” Luca asked worriedly.

Luca has always has hated how much Gemma has been alone because of hockey because for almost his entire life he always had Adam and when he moved away from home he had Adam with him but Gemma is always on her own.

“I’m gonna be okay.” Gemma softly reassured her eldest brother, she was looking forward to start a new chapter in her life especially with Macklin. She was about to start living out the dream she has had for years she was excited not sad.

Luca slowly nodded believing Gemma’s words, “Okay.” Luca pulled her into a hug, “I’ll see you soon.” Luca promised and hugged her tighter before reluctantly letting her go and ticking her hair behind her ear and giving her one more soft smile before walking over to their parents.

“Come here.” Adam opened his arms for his baby sister and hugged her tightly, “Have fun okay. Enjoy this you have earned it.” Adam softly told her rubbing her back and he kissed the top of her head.

They pulled back from each other sharing one more smile with each other before Gemma started walking them out

She leaned on the door watching her family get in the elevator as she waved softly at them. She thought she would be more sad but if anything she’s excited to be living with Macklin.

Gemma watched the elevator doors close, Macklin came up behind her wrapping his arms around and his chin resting on her shoulder as she closed their front door.

Macklin’s family had only left a few minutes before Gemma’s family after they said their goodbyes to Macklin.

“You okay?” Macklin asked her softly kissing her cheek softly.

Gemma nodded slowly, “Yeah i’m okay.” Gemma softly reassured him as her hand rested over his hands. Leaving for Chicago a few years was a lot harder for Gemma but she is use to being away form her family most of the year now, doesn’t mean she doesn’t miss them all the time but she is used to it.

Macklin nodded accepting her answer as he knows what’s she means as Gemma started walking to their couch with Macklin still holding her from behind.

Macklin reluctantly let go of her so they go sit together in the couch and they looked out at the windows of the beautiful view of New Jersey.

Macklin wrapped an arm over her shoulder as Gemma cuddled into his side with her legs draped over his lap and he grabbed the pink throw blanket that was on the couch and threw it over them.

Macklin and Gemma were almost fully moved in already as their family were there to help them unpack and they also don’t have a lot of stuff between them yet.

Macklin thought Gemma had done really well decorating their apartment not that he expected anything else.

Gemma kept it pretty simple in decorations but there are few pink accents decorations that Macklin loves because it reminds him of her.

“We should get flowers when we get groceries later.” Gemma told Macklin as she was looking around the living room, dinning room and kitchen from where she was sitting on the couch and she saw the empty vases that she wanted pink flowers in.

“Whatever you want.” Macklin smiled softly kissing the top of her head, he had already planned to get flowers when they went out later knowing how much Gemma loves to have fresh flowers.

Gemma hummed softly back and closed her eyes letting out a soft sigh as she leaned her head on his chest, “I love you.” Gemma softly whispered to her best friend who is also her boyfriend.

“I love you too my sweet girl.” Macklin softly whispered back rubbing her back gently, “I got you a present.” Macklin grinned as he saw her head look up for her to peak at him.

“What is it?” Gemma asked curiously.

“Let me go get it.” Macklin gently sat up letting go of Gemma and walked to his room real quick and grabbed the small box out of his bag and opened it grabbing the thing in the box and walked back.

“Close your eyes.” Macklin softly told her hiding his hand behind his back. Gemma smiled and closed her eyes.

Macklin sat back down on the couch and moved her hair off her back and gently laid the necklace down on her chest shutting it close. He pressed a kiss to the back of her neck, “Open it.”

Macklin smiled watching as she looked down at the necklace and noticed the charm, a small 17, “Since it’s our number now.” Macklin told her already loving seeing her in their number.

Gemma beamed touching the necklace gently, it was perfect, small enough she could wear it all the time even for hockey, she turned towards him and pressed her lips to his, “Thank you Amore.”

“Always.” Macklin flushed a little red as he smiled at her and kissed her again.

Gemma yawned as she rubbed her eyes waking up after the flight from Prague to New Jersey, she couldn’t wait to till she got off the plane and bus and see Macklin.

Gemma followed Nico off the plane and headed straight to the bus and she she sat on the front row of the bus by her self and pulled out her phone as the rest of the team loaded onto the bus.

The bus’s drove them to the parking lot of the arena where the players all parked it got dropped off.

Gemma was the first player off the bus and saw her stuff and grabbed her suitcase and rolled away from the bus, she leaned on her suitcase as she looked at her phone seeing how far Macklin is.

Gemma scrolled on her phone for a few minutes and saw most of her team was off the bus and already starting to leave.

Jack, Nico, Dawson, Seamus, Simon and Nate all happened to start walking towards Gemma as they all were about to leave.

“G do you have a ride?” Jack asked giving her a worriedly look as he didn’t remember if she drove herself but if she did she would’ve already left and he assumed Macklin would be picking her up.

“Mhm they will be here soon.” Gemma nodded softly having just checked on her find my iPhone where Macklin is, they ended up landing over thirty minutes earlier so Macklin was coming straight from practice.

“And there they are.” Gemma mumbled softly seeing Macklin’s car pull into the parking lot and she waved bye at the boys who were standing near her and walked over to car, she tossed her bags into the backseat before getting into the passenger seat.

“Who is that?” Nate asked curiously as Gemma told them she didn’t have any family nearby so he wondered who would pick her up.

“Her boyfriend probably.” Seamus nonchalantly said as he saw his ride and walked away too.

“Bows has a boyfriend?” Dawson spluttered out looking shocked, he was looking at Seamus for answers but Seamus kept walking to the car.

Jack let out a small snicker at Nate’s, Simon’s Dawson’s shock and Nico’s surprise and waved bye to the boys and started heading to his car with Nico shaking his head and following Jack, Nico figured Jack knew more about Gemma having a boyfriend.

Gemma let out a happy sigh as she closed the door and finally saw Macklin, she leaned over the center console immediately and wrapped her arms around him leaning into him happily.

“Hi baby.” Macklin cooed immediately wrapping his arms around her kissing the top of her head multiple times, “I missed you.”

“I missed you too.” Gemma softly whispered against his chest letting out a happy sigh as she was back with her boy.

“Let’s get you home.” Macklin softly told her as they pulled back from each other and Macklin put his hand on her thigh and she leaned on his arm as he started driving.

Gemma didn’t even need to start telling him everything that happened when she was away because she already told him everything on facetime.

Gemma let out a sigh of relief as Macklin worked the car in their parking lot and Macklin walked around opening her door before grabbing her bags from the back.

Gemma held Macklin’s free hand as they walked up to their apartment, Gemma opened the door and immediately took off her shoes and coat as Macklin set down her bags and took off his shoes.

Macklin picked up yer bags and walked down the hallway setting her bags by her door real quick.

Gemma smiled as she walked by the dining room seeing her two vases filled with flower bouquets mostly pink flowers, “You picked out beautiful ones.” Gemma softly told Macklin as he walked back to her.

Macklin smiled and pressed a kiss to her cheek. He’s been picking out flowers for her for years now and he’s pretty great at it.

“What do you need to do?” Macklin asked quietly pressing a kiss to the side of her head wrapping his arms around her.

“Just unpack and shower.” Gemma answered making Macklin nod.

“Well let’s go do that.” Macklin softly pulled Gemma to her room and grabbed her bags setting them down. Gemma smiled slightly as she looked at her bed seeing it wasn’t perfectly made because Macklin slept in her bed when she was away.

Gemma sat down on the floor next to Macklin as he unzip her suitcase.

She started pulling out of all her dirty clothes and Macklin grabbed her toiletry bag walking to her bathroom and unpacking the bag.

Gemma put away the clothes that were still clean and all her shoes as Macklin came out from her bathroom and tossed her dirty clothes in her hamper.

Macklin closed the empty suitcase and pushed it out of her room into the hallway for now.

Gemma unpacked her back pack real quick and saw the two things in there for Macklin. She put everything else away just as Macklin walked back into her room and she patted for him to sit down next to her on the edge of her bed.

“What’s this?” Macklin asked her as she handed him the first box.

“The first one was given to me but i have no clue what to do with it.” Gemma explained laughing as she did.

Macklin laughed too once he opened the box seeing it was a men’s rolex and way to big for Gemma, “This was for the first star right?” Macklin checked making her hum nodding.

“Thank you.” Macklin pressed a kiss to her cheek and gently set the box down on the bed as she handed him a small box like a ring box.

“Are you proposing?” Macklin teased with a gentle smirk making her fondly roll her eyes nudging him.

Macklin opened the ring box and his eyes widened in awe as he looked at the ring, it was beautiful and the gem was a mixed red and blue, “It’s us.” Macklin immediately said.

“That’s why i got it.” Gemma softly mumbled to him as Macklin slipped it on his finger.

“I love it thank you.” Macklin pressed a gentle kiss to her lips smiling softly at her.

“Of course.” Gemma softly smiled back and stood up holding out her hand, “Shower?” Gemma offered making Macklin grin immediately.

Macklin just grinned and picked her up by her thighs making her squeal with laughter.

Gemma was finally back home.

Gemma and Macklin were lying in bed in a lake house in Michigan that they have been staying in for the last week with Gemma’s family.

Macklin was laying on Gemma’s lap and her hand in his hair as she scrolled through her phone.

“Macky did you choose your number for sure yet?” Gemma asked curiously as she looked at email she was needed to answer.

“Mhm.” Macklin hummed sleepily being completely relaxed against Gemma, “71.” He was a bit sad he couldn’t have his true number seventeen but seventy one is close to it.

Gemma hummed in reply and titled her head as she thought about something she has been thinking about lately.

Gemma has always played with thirteen but being drafted to the Devils she knew she would need to change her number and she has been trying to find a number she could change too.

She was thinking about and leaning towards picking seventeen, thirteen has always been her lucky number but maybe Macklin’s number could become her new lucky number.

Gemma turned her phone so she could ask Macklin.

“Do you-“ Gemma started and kicked her lips nervously, Macklin titled his head up looking at Gemma hearing her nerves, he grabbed her hand and flashed her reassuring look.

Gemma took a deep breath, “Can i wear seventeen?” Gemma blurted out nervously closing her eyes not understanding why she is so nervous to ask him.

Macklin froze completely and blinked rapidly before sitting up and looking at Gemma in complete shock, “You want to wear my number?” Macklin was incredibly shocked never thinking Gemma would want to wear his number.

Gemma slowly opened her eyes peaking at Macklin’s shocked face and slowly nodded.

Macklin slowly began to smile and he cupped his girlfriend’s face and leaned his forehead agonist her forehead nudging his nudge gently against hers, “Of course you can.” Macklin softly told her.

Gemma let out a long sigh of relief and leaned more into Macklin’s touch, “Are you sure because i do not have to-“ Gemma rambled nervously not wanting to overstep.

Macklin smiled fondly at her rambled and pressed his lips to her lips gently and stopping her from rambling. Gemma’s hands came up to Macklin’s hair pressing him closer to her as they continued to kiss.

Macklin and Gemma both pulled away to catch their breaths as they still leaned their foreheads against each other.

“Gemma i would love if you wore my number.” Macklin firmly reassured her maintaining eye contact as he did, his thumb gently caressing her cheekbone. He really would absolutely adore seeing Gemma wear his number all the time and he would be the one to know why she chose that number.

Gemma slowly nodded seeing the sincerity in Macklin’s voice and on his face.

“It’s our number now.” Macklin softly said with a soft loving smile. He was disappointed when last season he had to change his originally number slightly to seventy one and he would have to continue to use seventy one in the NHL as well, so he was glad that’s Gemma was going to be playing under his true number it meant a lot to him.

“Our number.” Gemma softly repeated back with a sweet smile as she nudged her nose against Macklin’s.

“It already is with how much you already wear it by stealing all my clothes.” Macklin teased her with a playful smile as his fingers gently dug into her side making her immediately squeal with laughter and try to squirm away from Macklin’s hands.

Gemma is always stealing Macklin’s clothes and he knows if he can’t find a piece of his clothing that she definitely has it. Most of the time she has on something that is Macklin’s.

Macklin absolutely does not mind her wearing his clothes, he loves seeing her in his clothes but he does love teasing her about always stealing his clothes.

Macklin continued to tickle her and laughing at her squirming and giggles. He found out pretty quickly after he met her that she is extremely ticklish and he always loves ticking her.

Macklin leaned down and started pressing kisses across her face tickling her even more making her gasp as she was laughing so hard.

He eventually slowed down tickling her and pressed softer kisses to her face making her slowly calm down and catch her breath.

Macklin slowly laid back down on top of Macklin as he pressed another kiss to her cheek.

Gemma finally caught her breath as her hand immediately went to Macklin’s hair and started running her fingers gently through it.

“I love you Hopey.” Macklin lovingly told her staring at her in awe from where he rested his chin on her chest. His finger traced across her face delicately and continued tracing till he reach her little nose and he booped her making her nose scrunch at him.

“I love you too Amore.” Gemma sweetly whispered back smiling as Macklin flushed pink as he does every time she calls him something in Italian.

Macklin smiled gently and pressed a kiss under her jaw before resting his head back down on her chest and sighing happily as her fingers gently combed through his hair.

“Are you excited for Jersey?” Macklin asked her curiously as he knows he really is excited for when they move to New Jersey soon.

They had found an apartment exactly in the middle of the New York Rangers facility and the New Jersey Devils facility.

Macklin could not wait till the days where he would spend more nights in the same bed as Gemma.

Gemma and Macklin did pick out an apartment with separate bedrooms for them both so they can have their own spaces but they knew they are going to end up in the same bed together every night.

“Yeah. I’m really excited.” Gemma honestly told her boyfriend and best friend. She has already been planning out how she is going to decorate their apartment as Macklin told her she can chose all the decorations.

She is also just excited because she gets to live with Macklin, her best friend. When they were in Boston they already spent most of their time at her place anyways and she loved it. Gemma could not wait till she got to live with Macklin fully.

“Good.” Macklin smiled gently hearing the excitement in her voice and could not wait till the day they move in.

Gemma and Macklin both slowly fell asleep in each other’s arms.

Gemma took a deep breath as she got out of her car after she parked in the parking lot for going into the Devil’s Prudential Center.

It was her official first day of practice and training camp and she didn’t know too many people on the roster for the first training camp.

Gemma walked into the arena and headed to the locker room where she saw a few people but not to many yet and looked around the room for her stall, she found her stall and looked to the left of her stall and smiled seeing who was gonna be next to her, Seamus.

Gemma met Seamus playing on the US team together and she would say they are good friends especially as they won gold together.

Gemma sat down on her stall getting ready for practice.

She was braiding her hair when she felt someone sit next to her and she smiled seeing Seamus, “Shea!” Gemma grinned and stood up hugging him.

“Hey Fants.” Seamus smiled hugging her back glad to see someone he’s close to here.

Seamus and Gemma sat down in their stalls and started catching up as they both finished getting ready for practice.

Gemma and Seamus walked out of the locker room together still yapping to each other until they got on the ice.

Gemma perked up seeing Jack Malone on the ice as she didn’t see him in the locker room, “Hi Malo.” Gemma smiled softly nudging his gently as she skated next to him.

“Hey Gemma.” Jack smiled softly at her patting the top of her helmet and smiled at her once more before she had to skate away to where she was being called.

Gemma looked around the ice and realized she was one step closer to get accomplishing her dream, she knew the coaches said she would be staying for the next training camp with the Devils roster but she wanted to make sure she still played and worked just as hard.

Just because she was being told she was gonna be staying she wasn’t gonna stop working as hard.

And anyone could tell, it the first day yet Gemma was practicing just as hard as she plays in games and just skating around everyone with ease.

The coaches watching knew they made the right choice with Gemma and Sheldon gave Gemma a proud nod as she walked off the ice. Sheldon knew Gemma was gonna become one of the better players in the league and she is only barely eighteen and has so much room to grow.

Gemma headed into the showers after the long practice and slipped on her Devil’s sweatpants and sweatshirt after and luckily she managed to not have to any media on her first day and grabbed her stuff quickly heading to her car wanting to go home to Macklin.

Gemma drove back to her and Macklin’s apartment and walked through the lobby and took the elevator up to their floor.

Gemma opened the front door slipped her shoes off setting them next to Macklin’s and tossing her keys into the little bowl on the front entrance table, “Mack i’m home!” Gemma called out softly as she walked into their apartment and found Macklin on the kitchen.

Gemma saw Macklin platting some food on to two plates, “Please tell me you did not cook that.” Gemma blurted out looking worried. She hopped Macklin was not cooking when she was gone and he was alone.

Macklin scoffed playfully knowing why she is worried, “I didn’t.” Macklin pouted giving her his puppy eyes.

Gemma smiled sheepishly but she knows Macklin in the kitchen is not a good idea, he burnt water trying to boil noddles, “Sorry.” Gemma softly whispered as she pressed a kiss to his cheek.

Macklin just smiled never being offended by anything Gemma says.

“Smells good.” Gemma nodded her head stealing a cucumber off the plate as Macklin wrapped up platting the food he got them from takeout.

“Good.” Macklin softly spoke back grabbing the plates as Gemma kissed his cheek once more and grabbed drinks for them and followed Macklin to the dining room table.

Gemma beamed seeing a new bouquet of pink flowers in the vase on the dining room table, “Thank you Amore.”

Gemma looked so happy seeing fresh flowers just as happy as she is every week Macklin gets her flowers and that’s the main reason he gets her flowers so often because they make her so happy.

“Always.” Macklin promised pressing a kiss to her wet hair and pulling out her chair for her to sit down and grabbed the chair next to her spotting closer to her.

Gemma gave him a soft look as he scooted closer to her and Macklin just grinned shrugging nonchalantly, “I missed you.”

Macklin’s words made her face soften and she scooted her chair closer to him and now their chairs were touching even other and it made Macklin smile satisfied.

“How was your first day?” Macklin asked always genuinely curious when it comes to his Gemma.

Macklin would have his first day tomorrow with the Ranger’s.

Gemma started telling Macklin everything she did on her first day as they ate their early dinner together.

Macklin happily stayed quiet content to listen to Gemma talk about everything, he loves where Gemma will ramble and he gets to just listen to her.

Macklin smiled softly pressing a kiss to the side of her head as he finished his food but was still happily listening to her talk.

Gemma finished her food and grabbed both of the plates here Macklin could making him give her a playful glare and she just grinned at him as she walked towards the kitchen and started washing the dishes.

“I would’ve done that.” Macklin softly told her as he walked up behind her wrapping his arms around her resting his head on her chin.

“I know Macky.” Gemma softly spoke as she leaned into him as she washed the few dishes. Gemma giggled as Macklin pressed a few soft kisses to her neck.

Gemma was smiling as she listened to Macklin talk to her through facetime as she was getting ready for her first NHL game.

She loved the suit she had for her draft and went back to the same place to get her suit made for her first game, she chose an all red suit with the vest and everything and it was a velvet material.

Gemma was buttoning up her vest and noticed Macklin had stopped talking and looked up noticing he was staring at her, “Mack.” Gemma whined covering her face as her cheeks were burning, she knew exactly what his look is.

“What?” Macklin grinned seeing her being shy, “How can i not admire my pretty girl.” Macklin smiled flirting with his girlfriend.

Gemma let out a small smile and peeked out from behind her hands as her entire face was flushed, “Mack.” Gemma softly mumbled.

Macklin grinned even wider and took multiple screenshots of her.

“Stop!” Gemma laughed as she watched the screenshot go off a bunch.

Macklin just shrugged with a smile but did stop as she asked him too.

“Hey you’re gonna do amazing today.” Macklin pipped in giving her a soft but serious look, he wished he could be there for her first game but unfortunately he couldn’t be and she wouldn’t be able to be at his first game either.

Gemma softly nodded, “Thanks Amore.”

She slipped on her black boots and threw her blazer jacket on and fixing her seventeen necklace.

“Do a spin please.” Macklin softly asked as he looked at the screen eagerly, he always have loved red on Gemma.

Gemma smiled shyly and spun around to Macklin, “Absolutely beautiful my love.” Macklin lovingly told her.

“Thank you.” Gemma softly mumbled back with flushed cheeks again.

“Go talk to your brothers i’ll talk to you tonight, I love you and you’re going to do amazing.” Macklin softly spoke to her.

Gemma smiled softly picking up her phone, “I love you, talk to you tonight Macky.” Gemma blew him a soft kiss making him grin and catch the kiss before she hung up.

Gemma clicked on the facetime with Luca and Adam and Luca answered first and a few moments later Adam joined.

“Happy first game day Gems!” Luca softly cheered with a proud smile, he was incredibly disappointed he wasn’t able to come out and see her first game but hopefully he could make it a home game soon to see her play.

“Welcome to the NHL Gemmie!” Adam playfully sung out with a wide proud smile. He was sad with his own schedule he wouldn’t be able to come out and see her first game especially as she saw came to see his.

“Thanks guys.” Gemma softly spoke smiling at her older brothers, it was a bit disappointing to realize that only her parents could be at her first game but at least they would be here because when she won the gold medal she had no family there.

“I’m sorry i couldn’t make it.” Luca apologized frowning slightly.

“It’s okay.” Gemma accepted his apology and she talked with her brothers for a little while more before she said her goodbyes and grabbed her things leaving her hotel room.

Gemma walked down to the lobby seeing a lot of the team there already and waiting for the bus to show up.

Gemma walked over to Seamus and talked with him until the bus came and she headed into the bus sitting next to Jack.

Gemma walked into the arena with her team heading to the locker room.

Gemma headed to her stall sitting down and getting ready for warms up. She followed some of her team to play sewer to warm up for a little while before they all headed to the locker room getting their hockey equipment on.

Gemma spilt her hair into two and started french braiding her hair, she likes to always have some time of braid in her hair when she is playing and two french braids are one of her favorites. She tied off the braids and reached back into her stall grabbing her roll of red ribbon that she always wears for games only.

Gemma has been tying red ribbon bows on her hair for years now and it’s something she does for every game.

Gemma tied the ribbons into bows around both braids and tossed the roll back into her stall.

“Do you always do bows?” Dawson asked curiously as he was watched her tie the bows, he had saw the ribbons in the stall and was curious what they are used for.

“Always.” Gemma nodded softly.

“Bows.” Nate grinned from where he sat next to Dawson.

“Ohh yes that’s a good nickname.” Dawson immediately agreed with Nate.

“Bows.” Dougie grinned as he walked by tugging softly on her braid.

Gemma smiled slightly at the nickname not minding.

Gemma stood up and started walking out of the locker room getting high fives and pats on the head as she headed to the ice for her rookie lap with Seamus.

Gemma and Seamus shared a smile and a fist bump before Gemma hopped onto the ice first with Seamus right behind her.

They passed the puck back and forth with each other and took a few shots on the goal before heading towards the bench and the rest of the team joined them on the ice.

Gemma giggled as Jack playfully sook her shoulders giving her a proud smile before she skated around warming up.

She perked up as Jonathan passed her a puck and gestured for her to pass it back, Gemma and Kovacevic passed the pack and fourth with each other and he let her pass the puck around his legs until they had to go off the ice until the start of the game.

Gemma got to stand on the ice for the national anthem for her first game and was on the starting line with Palat and Nico and then after the first shift they would go back to their lines.

Gemma focused on the ice and smiled as she realized she finally did it, she made it in the NHL and she’s starting her first game.

She loved it immediately, the game is already faster and harder than she is used to but she loves it and was playing incredible.

Gemma was on her fourth shift of the first period the score was still 0-0 and it was the first power play for the Devils.

Nico passed the puck across the ice to Jack and Jack went around the back of the net passing the puck across the front of the goal right to Gemma, Gemma hit the puck into the goal and she blinked her smile growing as she realized she just scored her first goal.

Gemma giggled as Jack got to her first and immediately hugging her as Nico came to her next giving her endless head pats and Jesper hugged her from the other side. Dougie and Kovacevic quickly joined the hug all of them congratulating her.

Gemma was let go after a little while and when she skated to the bench she didn’t notice Nico grab the puck.

Gemma high fived her whole team with a proud beaming smile before she sat down on the bench.

Keefe gave her shoulder a proud shake before patting her shoulder.

Before she knew the second period was already starting and the score was still 1-0.

Gemma had the puck on her stick and flicked it back to Jonathan who took the puck and shot it, getting a goal.

Gemma smiled widely as she skated over hugging Kovacevic.

Jonathan smiled at his first goal with the Devils but also shook Gemma excitedly as she just got her first assist.

Gemma was continuing to play amazing so she kept her sent out more and more and was sent out with Nico and Paul for a shift.

Cotter had the puck skating up the ice and passed it to Gemma who took the puck close to the ice and didn’t look when she flicked it right to Nico, who shot it right into the goal.

The Devil’s were now leading 3-1.

The third period started and Buffalo managed to finally get a goal halfway through the third period.

Gemma had a breakaway and glanced up and shot the puck right into the top corner of the net, gaining her second goal of the game.

Gemma was giggling as her teammates on the ice all hugged her and gave her head pats.

The Devils won the first game against Buffalo 4-1.

Gemma had two goals and two assists in her first NHL game.

Obviously Gemma got the first star of the game and was very perplexed why she was given a Rolex but just smiled softly and didn’t question it.

Gemma stepped into the locker room and immediately was drenched in water from her team making her laugh as they all cheered for her.

Gemma managed to get away from the water after a little bit and sat on her stall.

Nico plopped down next to her and gave her shoulder a soft proud squeeze, “You played an amazing game.” Nico complimented her giving her gentle smile and held out his hand holding two pucks.

“Are these?” Gemma perked up as she saw the writing on the pucks and gently picked them up.

“Your first goal and your first assist.” Nico smiled at her, he is usually the one who tries to grab the special pucks for his team.

“Thank you.” Gemma sweetly smiled at her captain and he gave her a gentle nod, “Nico?”

Nico hummed giving her his attention.

“What am i’m supposed to do with a Rolex?” Gemma sheepishly asked holding up the bag, she’s pretty sure it won’t even fit her right now.

Nico couldn’t help but laugh, “You can keep it and not wear it, give it to someone or get it resized to wear.”

Gemma nodded slightly she knew she wasn’t going to wear maybe Macklin would.

Gemma listened to Keefe talking to them after the game before she was allowed to head to the showers and got dressed back in her suit before grabbing her few things and walking out of the locker room.

Gemma walked out and saw her mom and dad waiting for her and she quickly walked over to them hugging them both at the same time.

“Our Gem you were incredible.” Julia softly cooed smiling at her only daughter.

Giuliano pressed a kiss to his daughter’s cheek, “Amazing Gem.”

Gemma smiled at her parents and leaned into the them as they walked out of the arena and headed to a small restaurant to get dinner together.

Gemma really wanted pizza so they found the cutest little pizza restaurant and face timed Adam and Luca.

It wasn’t perfect because Adam and Luca weren’t there but it was almost perfect and that’s good enough for Gemma.

Gemma spent a few hours with her parents and on the phone with her brothers before she was getting exhausted and headed back to the hotel.

Gemma quickly got into a pair of Macklin’s sweatpants and t-shirt and got into bed cuddling with her flower bouquet stuff animal immediately face timing Macklin.

“HOPEY!” Macklin cheered the second he answered the call, “You were so incredibly love!” Macklin had a proud smile on his face.

Gemma smiled softly, “Thanks Macky.”

Macklin started to ramble about everything he loved she did in the game and her eyes started fluttering shut listening to his voice as she eventually fell asleep.

Macklin smiled lovingly seeing her fast asleep.

The next game went just as good for Gemma, she got one goal and an assist on Seamus’s first goal, The Devils won that game too meaning they won both games in Prague.

Gemma let out a shuttering breath as the buzzer rung, echoing with the cheers of the Denver team and fans. Her jaw wobbled and her eyes quickly filled with tears, she sniffles desperately and wiped her eyes roughly, she turned to right and saw a just as devastated Gabe.

Gabe turned around and saw Gemma’s beautiful bright eyes now extremely dim and glassy with tears, he stepped forward and pulled her into a tight hug. Gemma felt her shoulders shaking with sobs that she was trying to hold in but the second her head hit Gabe’s chest her sobs were let out and muffled against his chest.

Gabe’s tears were silently falling down his face as he held on to Gemma just as tightly as she held on to him.

Ryan and Will skated over slow and sadly to a hugging Gabe and Gemma and Ryan quickly wrapped his arms around the back of Gemma and rested his chin on her shoulder and Will wrapped his arms around Ryan and Gabe’s shoulders.

Gemma just continued to softly sob against on to Gabe’s chest, she was getting drafted in the summer and this was most likely her last game with Boston College as she was most likely going straight into the NHL.

Yesterday was one of the best days of her whole year, she won the Hobey Baker Award in her freshman year just like her brother Adam, and she got to spend the day with her brothers, her boyfriend and parents all together. She hasn’t spent a day with her brothers and parents in months.

Sadly Macklin and Luca both had to go back to their schools with their teams and Adam had to get back to Columbus.

She still had her parents at the game but right now she was really wishing she could get off the ice and go into her boyfriend’s arms. Macklin always has made her feel better when she’s sad.

Gemma harshly rubbed her face and pulled away from the hug, she walked away from the boys keeping her eyes downcast as she skated off the ice and walked down the tunnel.

She walked into the locker room and plopped down onto her stall and just fiddled with her hands sniffling.

Eamon walked in and felt his heart clench even more seeing how devastated Gemma looked, he walked over and sat down on his stall that’s always been next to hers, he wrapped his arms around her and pressed a soft kiss to the top of head.

Gemma just turned her head against his chest and kept her head hidden in his chest as the rest of the team walked in.

Gemma grabbed all of bags off the airport conveyer belt, she had just landed in Toronto being home for two days.

Gemma originally was suppose to be on a plane right now on the way to Sweden and she wasn’t going to be able to make it to the Blue Jackets at The Leafs game to be able to see Adam playing in the NHL at their home stadium.

Gemma luckily asked her coach if she could come two days later and be able to watch her brother play in the NHL for the first time.

Obviously she got the okay and immediately booked her ticket to come home and she contacted the Blue Jackets media team to keep her ticket that Adam had originally gotten for her and made sure no one knew she was coming to see him play.

Gemma got an uber to her child hood home and carried all of her bags up into her room and luckily for her, her family had already left for the game. Gemma quickly put on a pair of black skinny jeans, a blue hoodie with Adam’s jersey over and slipped a pair of black converse on.

Gemma called for a cab to take her to the stadium. She paid the fee and walked up to the stadium through the crowds of people, she scanned her ticket and headed to her section and she smiled seeing many people that she knows in the section and saw her parents, Luca and Nick sitting in a row and a seat empty next to her dad.

She walked down the the stairs quietly not catching anyone’s attention and walked into the row her ticket was at, “Is this seat taken?” Gemma softly questioned making her parents and Luca heads all snap up to her.

“Gems!” Her dad happily exclaimed pulling his only daughter in a tight hug.

“Hi Dad.” Gemma giggled and hugged him back before letting go and hugging her mother tightly.

“My Gem.” Her mother happily cooed as she held her youngest in her arms before letting her go to Luca.

“Hi Lu.” Gemma smiled widely at her big brother, Luca smiled shaking his head in disbelief pulling his baby sister into a tight hug.

“I missed you.” Luca whispered into his sister’s ear, truthfully this year was weird for Luca being completely alone without either of his siblings for the first time in his life.

“I missed you too.” Gemma whispered back hugging him tighter.

Luca reluctantly let her go letting her go hug Nick, “Hi Nicky.” Gemma smiled and hugged her past teammate.

“Hi little Fants.” Nick smiled hugging her back.

Gemma stepped back after the hug seeing her parents scoot down a seat so she could sit between Luca and her mom, Gemma smiled softer at them and sat down having her mother immediately hold her hand.

“I thought you were heading to Sweden right now.” Julia softly questioned her daughter, knowing that her husband and her were planning to join their daughter with Luca coming with after Christmas.

“I was but Coach let me come two days later so i could come to the game.” Gemma explained to her family, squeezing her mother’s hand back.

“We’re glad you’re here.” Giuliano smiled softly at his young daughter, Gemma sent him a smile back.

Gemma smiled cheering as she saw Adam get into the ice for warmups, she smiled at her brother when she noticed Adam seeing her and she waved softly to her brother as Adam shook his head in disbelief smiling widely and waving back at his sister.

The Blue Jackets won 6-5.

Adam got dressed after the game and hurried to the section where his family and friends were all at, he smiled as he walked up the stairs in shock seeing so many people that ending up coming to support him.

He hugged both his parents, Luca and Nick and saw Gemma waiting patiently and Adam tackled her into a tight hug.

“Hi.” Adam voice cracked slightly, Adam has been able to see Luca and his parents more than he has seen Gemma and he hasn’t seen her since she went back to school months ago and it was the longest they have gone with out seeing each other.

“Hi.” Gemma whispered out hugging her brother just as tightly back hating that they haven’t seen each other in so long.

They pulled apart and shared a look and they both grabbed one of Luca’s arm pulling him into a hug, the three all let out an identical sighs as they were all reunited again and all together.

Giuliano and Julia shared a soft look enjoying seeing their kids all together again.

Gemma looked in the mirror once more fixing her locket around her neck once more, the locket her grandmother had given her.

Gemma stepped out of the bathroom seeing her family waiting for her, she did a little spin.

She was wearing a burgundy suit with a black long sleeve underneath, black high heals, all of her jewelry was pieces from her grandmother. Gemma also picked the exact color as Adam’s Draft day suit for her suit. She also got the people that are important to her, their initials embroidered on the inside of her cuff.

“You look absolutely beautiful.” Julia tearfully smiled at her daughter, Giuliano smiled with tears in his eyes at his daughter, they both knew they would be many tears from them by the end of the day.

Gemma smiled softly at her parents and she turned to Luca and Adam, Adam smiled standing up and walking over to her and gently grabbing his sister hand and twirling her around making her giggle softly.

“You look very beautiful Gemmy.” Luca smiled telling his sister after Adam stop spinning her around.

“Thank you!” Gemma smiled before hearing a knock on the door and she knew the cameras were coming in.

Gemma got through all of the media and before she even knew she was already walking across the red carpet that leads into the sphere, she smiled as she signed stuff for the people and took pictures with them, Gemma let out a few laughs as she talked with some of the people she met.

Gemma walked over to her seats with her family and she sat between her brothers and her parents on the other side of Adam.

Gemma looked over seeing Macklin in the row right across from her and she sent him a smile and nod, Macklin sent a smile and nod back.

“The New Jersey Devils are on the clock.” Gemma was looking right ahead focusing on absolutely nothing making sure to keep her face completely blank, the representative for the Devils walked up the to the stage with the group of people and walked up to the microphone.

“The New Jersey Devils are proud to select from Boston College, Gemma Fantilli.” It was eerie silent as he said everything up to Boston and once he said College the cheers started as everyone knew who was picked.

Macklin smiled widely and clapped for his best friend and girlfriend, he knew she truthfully should always have been going first and he thought the only reason it was entertained with the idea of her not going first was because she was a girl, he couldn’t be more proud watching her accomplish her dreams despite anyone that has ever tried to stop her.

Gemma let out a shocked laugh but stood up and immediately both her brothers wrapped their arms around her from both sides and pulled her into a tight hug.

“I’m so proud of you Gemmy, You deserve this.” Luca whispered proudly smiling for his sister.

“Go enjoy your moment.” Adam whispered to his little sister feeling his eyes fill with proud tears, now he understood how Luca felt last draft year.

“Thank you.” Gemma whispered to her brothers and her biggest role models, she walked over to her parents.

Gemma smiled getting pulled into a tight hug from her dad.

“I’m so so proud to you.” Giuliano emotionally choked out feeling his tears fall down his face, he pressed a soft and long kiss to her to her cheek.

Julia watery smiled at her daughter and pulled her into a hug, She pressed a kiss to the side of Gemma’s head and let her go.

Gemma smiled at her mother and pulled off her suit jacket and handed it to her mother. Gemma saw Macklin already standing up at his row and she walked right to him hugging him softly.

“Good Job Hopey.” Macklin whispered so soft that the microphones barely picked it up. He gave her one more soft squeeze before letting her go.

Gemma started her walk down the stairs shaking a few hands and giving fist bumps to friends of hers.

Gemma walked across the stage to where the people were waiting for her, she shook every single one of their hands thanking all of them. Gemma let out a little laugh as she was handed her Devils Jersey, she slipped it on and smiled already loving it on.

Gemma smiled for the photo holding out a number one for the photo, she was escorted off the stage by one of the many Devils media person. She politely asked if she could wait and watch the second pick and the media girl smiled nodding her head letting them stand off to the side seeing the New York Rangers coming onto the clock.

Gemma watched as the group of people walked onto the stage with a jersey and the man walked up to the microphone. “The New York Rangers are proud to select from Boston University, Macklin Celibrini.”

Gemma cheered and clapped watching with a proud smile as Macklin stood up and hugged all of parents before he started the walk down the stairs and crossed stage, Macklin slipped on the jersey and smiled for the photos before he was escorted off the stage and saw Gemma waiting for him with a proud smile on her face.

“Rivals again.” Macklin teased her softly as walked right to her and Gemma rolled her eyes fondly letting out a chuckle.

The New Jersey media girl asked for the two to take a photo together, Macklin wrapped his arm lightly around Gemma’s waist as they both held up their fingers for the photo smiling.

They were always destined to be together even if the whole world thinks they are rivals.

Luca pulled into the parking lot of the US hockey rink and Gemma leaned over pressing a soft kiss to her big brother’s cheek, “Thank you Lu.” Gemma softly spoke to him before she hopped out the car and grabbing her hockey bag from the back of the car before waving bye to Luca as she walked up to the US hockey rink.

She had only just recently gotten into Michigan after her season ended and she spent a few days at Adam’s with him recovering still from his injury and now she will spend a few days with Luca before she leaves in two days to go to Prauge for Worlds.

It was the first day of practices for Worlds and the team are all meeting in Michigan and practicing here until they all head together to prague.

Gemma was able to hand her hockey bag to an equipment worker as she walked in and not have to carry it with her throughout the entire rink which she was very grateful for.

She knew today the practice was mostly gonna be a lot of talking and reviewing tapes and ending up with a workout in the gym but nothing on the ice today.

Gemma walked into the theater room and saw a few players in there already and saw a certain tall boy with a head of curls.

Luke turned around and saw his favorite Fantilli, “Emmie!” Luke beamed and walked over pulling her into a tight hug and spun her around.

Gemma giggled and happily hugged him back, “Hi Lukey.”

Gemma had met the Michigan when she was thirteen and she clicked with Luke the quickest and there is no one else she is closer to from Michigan.

Luke is the only person to call her Emmie.

Luke set her back down and looked at her looking at the differences about her as he hadn’t seen her for a few months.

It is odd to Luke how he remembered meeting her so many years ago and how young she was and now every time he sees her she has grown so much. Luke couldn’t believe she was getting drafted in a few months and now they are playing together at Worlds.

Luke has played with both of the other Fantilli’s and he can not wait to be able to play with the last one but his favorite.

“Emmie, this is Trevor, Cole, Matt and Brady.” Luke threw an arm over her shoulder as he introduced her to the boys he was walking to do before she came in.

“And this is Gemma.” Luke proudly introduced her.

Cole smiled softly thinking she was adorable and she was actually shorter than him which is not common ever.

Matt smiled as he knew exactly who Gemma is, as he still follows Boston college and you couldn’t watch one game the past season and not know who Gemma is.

Brady nodded at her and Trevor grinned excited to meet new people as he always is.

Luke guided Gemma away and over to one of the seats, “That is Matt Boldy!” Gemma whispered having stars in her eyes as she told Luke.

Luke laughed throwing his head back knocking exactly why she is star stuck because Matt played at BC.

Luke was one of the very few people who were not surprised they Gemma choose to attend Boston College instead of the University of Michigan. He knew because he saw all the times she would be watching BC Hockey games on her phone and she always spoke about how cool Boston is, he knew she would end up at BC.

Gemma and Luke sat down next to each other and started catching up with each other even though they do stay in contact pretty well but they haven’t talked in a bit and as they waited for the rest of the players to show up and for the meeting to start.

Gabe, Will and Ryan walked in minutes before the meeting and Gemma saw Will and Gabe’s annoyed faces meaning Ryan made them run late.

Gabe and Will perked up when they saw Gemma and immediately walked over to her leaving Ryan behind but not for long as he saw Gemma too and walked over quickly.

“Gem!” Gabe beamed and leaned down hugging one of his favorite teammates, even if he did just see her two weeks ago after their terribly sad end of a season.

“Hi Gabe-O.” Gemma softly spoke back smiling as she leaned into hug.

While Gabe was distracted hugging Gemma, Will plopped down onto the seat next to Gemma and sent a mischievous smile at Gabe when he turned his way.

Will leaned over and hugged her tightly. Gemma hugged him back softly as Gabe sat down next to Will.

“Best for lasts.” Ryan grined smugly at WIll and Gabe getting identical fond eye rolls.

“Hey G.” Ryan hugged her quickly and ruffled her hair in the way he knows she hates.

“Leo.” Gemma softly groaned and tried to fix her hair as Ryan sat down next to Gabe, “What have we talked about touching my hair.” Gemma gave her a stern glance, where was Eamon when you need him to have Ryan knock it off. Gemma shook off that thought not wanting to get sad thinking about her captain.

“Not too.” Ryan cheekily grinned shrugging nonchalantly and grunted at the smack on the arm from Will, who gave Ryan a knock it off look not liking to much teasing towards Gemma.

Gemma just gave a long look to Luke, basically telling him what she dealt with throughout the season and he chuckled.

Gemma leaned against Luke’s arm as they waited for the meeting to start and she had a feeling she was really going to enjoy playing in Worlds but also being able to play with Luke for the first time ever and Worlds is probably the only way she will ever be able to play with Will, Gabe or Ryan and they might be the last chance she plays with all three of them at the same time.

Gemma walked in wearing a pair of black trousers, a blue dress shirt with a black sweater over it and her black BC trench coat and a pair of black boots, she was walking into the BC Arena for their first game against one of their biggest rivals, Boston University.

Gemma was pretty exited for the game especially since she was playing her best friend and boyfriend Macklin, even if everyone thought they were rivals which always make the two laugh.

Gemma headed into the dry locker room first dropping off her personal items and quickly changed into her warm up clothes and hung up her outfit before sitting down on the bench tying up her shoes before she felt a hand on her head ruffling heels hair and looked up seeing Ryan Leonard smirking mischievously at her.

“Leo.” Gemma groaned wacking his hand away from her hair, Ryan just laughed and headed to his dry locker and Gabe and Will walked in behind him.

Gabe sent a bright smile to Gemma and leaned down to her her a side hug and Will smiled and squeezed her shoulder as he walked by.

The whole team quickly loved Gemma and quickly all adopted her as their little sister and she’s definitely the favorite on the team.

Gemma headed into the locker room seeing a few of the older members of the team already in the locker room stretching on the floor just chilling before they started warming up

She headed to her stall which is next to Gabe Perrault and Jamie Armstrong, she plopped down onto her stall and grabbed her hair brush, brushing her hair into a low ponytail and spitting the ponytail into two braids, she added a red bow at the end of her two braids.

“Oooo bows! i want some!” Will Vote teased her shaking his hair in front of Gemma’s face, Gemma just laughed pushing him away from her, “What! You don’t think i would look good?” Will smirked at her running a hand through his fluffy hair.

“I think you would look good in anything willy boy.” Ryan threw his arm around Will’s shoulder smirking flirtatiously at him.

“Do you?” Will pretended to swoon and batted his eyelashes up at Ryan.

“Alright knock it off, save it for your dorms.” Eamon Powell ruffled both of their hairs, his comment had a few laughs scattered across the locker room, He gave a wink to Gemma, who gave him a relieved smile that the boys knocked it off.

The team all started their warms up before the game and did a huddle before they headed back to the locker room and started getting into the hockey gear.

Gemma slipped on her compression t-shirt before putting on all the padding and slipping on her number 13 jersey, she stood up on her skates and started heading out with some of the team in the tunnel as she grabbed her stick.

The team was announced as they all got onto the ice and started skating around the one half of the rink warming up, Gemma toon a few shots on the goal and did some stick handling before she headed towards the bench and and switched out her stick and started stretching.

She felt a puck hit her on the skate and she looked to the right where the puck was from and saw Macklin standing by his bench with a smile directed at her.

She let out a little laugh not suprised he got her attention with hitting her with a puck she gave him a small wave and he smiled and gave her a small wave back.

They both shared one more smile before focusing on the game.

Boston College won 4-1 and Gemma had one goal and two assists.

The locker room was filled with energy everyone coming off a high of beating one of their biggest rivals.

Gemma celebrated with her team but hurried off to the showers first and quickly headed to the dry locker seeing a few of the boys already changing back into their suits.

“Fants! Are you coming with?” Jacob Fowler called out, the team likes to get dinner together and spend the night hanging out after a game especially when they win or have a game the next day so the can talk about it.

“Sorry guys i got plans.” Gemma smiled apologetically as she slipped on her socks and boots, she stood up grabbing keys and phone.

“Plans?” Ryan piped up looking at Gemma suspiciously. Ryan, Will and Gabe were all finished and walked out with Gemma.

“Plans.” Gemma nodded looking at Ryan, before looking over seeing Macklin in his suit leaning against the wall scrolling on his phone, “I’ll see you guys tomorrow.” She sent them one more smile before walking away.

“Macky.” Gemma spoke with a smile as she walked right to her boyfriend.

Macklin looked up and smiled seeing his favorite girl and immediately put her phone away, “Hopey.” He smiled pulling her into a soft and quick hug before pulling away as they are in public, “Ready to go?”

“Yeah.” Gemma nodded and walked out with Macklin, they walked closed to each other but not touching.

“Huh.” Gabe looked confused as the three watched Gemma and Macklin interact.

“I thought they were rivals?” Ryan looked just at confused, everyone knowing of the rivalry between Gemma and Macklin especially as both were projected for the first overall pick of the 2024 draft, and the game tonight was sold out as everyone wanted to see the rivalry.

“She never said anything about the rivalry though.” Will pointed out to his best friends and line mates, he always had a few questions if they were really rivals especially because Gemma didn’t speak much about Macklin and if she did it was never something bad like you would expect if you were rivals with someone.

Gemma and Macklin walk out to her car, Macklin quickly opened the door for her, Gemma gave him a soft smile and hoped unto the drivers seat, Macklin walked around and hoped into the passenger seat. Macklin gently grabbed onto Gemma’s right hand pressing a kiss to the back of it before resting their hands against his thigh while she drove.

Gemma drove them to her apartment as Macklin ordered food on his phone as she drove.

They walked up to her apartment and she opened the door as Macklin held the door open as she walked in.

Macklin helped Gemma slip off her jacket and hung it up on her hook before he slipped of his jacket.

Gemma headed to the bedroom with Macklin following her and she opened the drawer in her dresser for Macklin and handed him a pair of his pajamas and he smiled pressing a soft kiss to her head in thanks before heading to the bathroom to get changed, Gemma got changed into a pair of Macklin’s grey sweatpants and Boston college t-shirt.

Gemma just pulled the shirt over her head she Macklin walked out of the bathroom.

Macklin wrapped his arms around her waist resting his chin on her shoulder, “That was fun.” Macklin always loved playing with Gemma but there was some more competitive enjoyment when they played against each other.

“It was.” Gemma agreed understanding how fun it is to compete against Macklin, it was enjoyable as they were both so similar in skill and play that it was always fun when they played against each other.

There was a knock on the door and the two knew it was the food, Macklin pressed a soft kiss to her cheek and reluctantly let her go and walked out of the bedroom towards the front door grabbing their dinner.

Macklin walked into the kitchen seeing Gemma sitting at the barstool with two gatorade’s on the counter and she put out his favorite flavor for him.

Macklin plated the food for both of them and they just enjoyed eating in silence and the sound of the rain starting outside.

Gemma grabbed the plates when they finished eating and put them in the sink as Macklin threw their trash away.

Macklin snuck up behind her as she was facing the sink and wrapped his arms around her waist picking her up, Gemma squealed with laughter as he carried her to her bedroom.

Macklin gently dropped her onto the bed and her laughter slowly calmed down, Macklin just smiled admiring her and listening to her laugh.

Macklin leaned down making Gemma watch him intensely as he leaned down gently connecting their lips together making him confident that he couldn’t live without being able to kiss his Gemma.

Macklin gently pulled away brushing her hair to behind her ear before he reluctantly stood up and walked around the bed to the side that he likes and pulled the covers up as Gemma slipped under the covers on her side.

Gemma laid on her side facing him watching as he laid down right next to her facing her, Gemma smiled leaning slighty foward nudging her nose to his loving how his nose scrunched up adorably.

Gemma hummed contently loving how the world seems to stop spinning when she is with Macklin, she enjoys how she can just be herself not anything more than that.

Gemma made a happy sound as Macklin gently ran his fingers through her hair and she scooted closer to him resting her head against his collar bone pressing a soft kiss to his skin.

Macklin smiled listening to her breathing slowly get quieter as she fell asleep he rested his chin on the top of her head and closed his eyes feeling himself falling asleep as he held his favorite girl to the sound of the rain outside.

snow day

November 22, 2023

Macklin closed the door to his car locking it, he swung his backpack over his shoulder and walked through the falling snow into the apartment building, he headed down the hallway and knocked on the door.

Gemma opened the door smiling softly seeing Macklin, “Hi Macky.” Gemma moved over letting him walk in as she closed the door behind him.

“Hi Hopey.” Macklin smiled softly back as he dropped his backpack to the floor and slipped off his winter coat and boots, he looked up and smiled softer at the sight of his best friend, she was wearing a pair of grey sweatpants and a purple long sleeve that was hanging off her one shoulder.

Gemma gently grabbed his hand and he picked his backpack up, she dragged him to the couch where she was working on school cuddled up under a bunch of blankets and she plopped down on the couch pulling Macklin down next to her.

Macklin opened up his back pack pulling out his computer and starting his homework sitting next to Gemma.

Macklin and Gemma must of sat there for a few hours not even realizing they haven’t gotten up at all and how late it had gotten but it was already past midnight when they both got an email and opened it.

The two didn’t realize over the few hours they were doing homework how heavy the snow was coming down and quickly too, both schools canceled school for the next as most people are already snowed in and the storm had only barely started.

“Did you get the email too?” Macklin questioned leaning over her shoulder looking at her computer.

“Yeah.” Gemma nodded softly not minding the fact she didn’t have school tomorrow.

They shared a look and got off the couch looking outside only being able to see snow with the street lights and they could see the snow already covering top of cars.

“Well i’m stuck here.” Macklin slowly nodded as he saw his car completely covered in snow and he wouldn’t be able to drive on the road.

“That’s ok.” Gemma shrugged not minding at all that Macklin would stay here.

Macklin gave her a slightly nervous look even though they have had sleepovers many times before something felt a little different tonight.

“I’ll get us some food.” Gemma told him heading to the kitchen, Macklin let out a nervous breath but started cleaning up all of their homework knowing they shouldn’t be doing anymore tonight and get some sleep after they eat.

He headed to the kitchen seeing Gemma heating up some meal plans, Gemma looked up hearing him walk in, “Sorry it’s boring but i’m exhausted.” Gemma usually would easily cook them something but she was way to tired to cook anything and wouldn’t be safe to cook anything that tired. Besides she does have quite a feel meal plans in her fridge on days she can’t cook.

“It’s more than okay, thank you Hopey.” Macklin felt grateful for anything, he wasn’t the best cook and he knew anything Gemma gave him would he better than what he would make himself.

Gemma sent him a soft smile and slid the dish across the counter towards him and she brought hers and sat down next to him.

Gemma listened as he talked about the game he played a few hours ago and put her input in once in a while.

Macklin stood up grabbing the dishes before Gemma could and gave her a stern look stopping her from cleaning up. Macklin cleaned up the dishes.

Gemma face was soft as she watched him move around her kitchen cleaning up after them.

Gemma knew of her feelings for Macklin, she’s known since the night of their prom and the way the whole night was so special and it was all because of Macklin, she knows she falling in love with him and truthfully she is not scared of that.

“Come on let’s get some sleep.” Gemma offered her hand to Macklin and took him to her bedroom.

“You know i can sleep on the couch.” Macklin protested blushing slightly as he held her hand and she took him to her bedroom.

“Macky we’ve shared a bed before.” Gemma gave him a look over her shoulder.

“Well i don’t want you think i have to sleep in your bed.” Macklin softly protested feeling bad having to make her share his bed.

“Macky, if i wasn’t comfortable with you sleeping in my bed i wouldn’t have offered.” Gemma turned around facing Macklin reassuring him. Macklin slowly nodded and gave her a smile.

Gemma pulled back the covers and jumped into bed getting underneath all of her blankets and opening the other side of the covers towards Macklin.

Macklin hesitantly climbed into the bed next to laying stiff next to her. Gemma shook her head fondly and scooted closer to him resting her head on his shoulder feeling him relax.

Macklin took a deep breath and hesitantly wrapped his arm around her shoulder, he felt her relax even more as she cuddled up against him more.

Macklin slowly felt his eyes start fluttering shut and before he knew he was fast asleep.

Macklin woke up feeling a weight on his side and an arm draped across his stomach, he froze for a second before remembering he slept in Gemma’s bed, he looked down seeing Gemma looking completely peaceful laying on his chest and he felt his heart pounding as he started at the girl he has a crush on for over a year now and nerve has told her.

Macklin hasn’t remembered the last time he had slept that good, he knew it was because Gemma was in his arms most of the night.

He gently picked up the bottom of her hair playing with the tips as he listen to the sound of the snow falling outside.

Macklin turned his head slight seeing it almost ten in the morning and was glad they didn’t have school so they could sleep in, Macklin knowing that Gemma and him both love sleeping and hating waking up early.

Gemma shuffled slight burrow her face against her chest, she let out a soft groan as she started waking up.

Gemma froze slightly when she realized she was cuddling with Macklin still and he had his arm around her but then relaxed realizing he stayed.

She made a happy sound and peered up at Macklin who was looking at her with a soft expression that made her stomach flutter.

“Hi.” Macklin whispered softly, gently putting her hair down and brushing her hair from her face tucking it behind her ear.

Gemma tried not to lean into his touch but smiled softly, “Hi.”

Macklin leaned over pressing a slow kiss to her forehead and pulled back slightly, “Yogurt Bowls?” Macklin knew Gemma was always pretty hungry when she woke up and so was he, also one of their favorite breakfast foods has always been yogurt bowls.

“Please!” Gemma smiled happily and gently and reluctantly moved away so Macklin could get up.

Gemma watched him head to the bathroom for a few minutes before he came out gave her a smile and headed out of the bedroom.

Gemma let out a breath and got up headed to the bathroom doing her morning routine before she walked into the kitchen seeing Macklin already down with the bowls and waiting for her.

She smiled walking to the barstools, she sat down and kissed Macklin on the cheek, “Thank you.” She quickly started eating she didn’t see the blush all over Macklin’s face.

“Of course Hopey.” Macklin muttered extremely flustered but distracted himself eating his bowl.

Gemma quickly finished her food and looked out the window seeing all the snow outside.

Macklin put the bowls in the sink and turned seeing Gemma look out the window at all the snow, he smiled fondly knowing Gemma adores the snow, “Wanna go outside?” He did not like the snow but he would go outside anytime if he gets the reaction he just got from her.

Gemma whipped her head around with a beaming smile almost bouncing with excitement, “Please!”

And that reaction made it all worth it for Macklin, he smiled and nodded.

Gemma squealed happyy and quickly hurried to the front entrance and started pulling on her snow clothes giving him an impatient look seeing him standing there, Macklin laughed but pulled on some snow clothes and slipped his jacket on.

Macklin looked over seeing Gemma already done waiting at the door for him and once she saw he was done she opened the door rushing out of her apartment to the front lobby and to the outside.

Gemma happily fell backwards into the snow making a snow angel in the snow, she giggled as she stuck her tongue out catching snowflakes.

Macklin smiled walking at a slower pace over to her and plopping down next o her and felt his head hit the soft power.

He turned his head facing Gemma watching her look up at the sky before she dragged her eyes away from the sky and to him and seeing Macklin already looking at her.

“What?” Gemma breathed out always feeling nervous when Macklin looks at her like that.

“You are so beautiful.” Macklin slowly shook his head reaching his gloved hand over to her pink cheeks wiping off a snowflake.

Gemma smiled softly and leaned her head closer to Macklin.

Macklin nervously gulped seeing her face so close to his, he let out a nervous breath and leaned forward, “Can i kiss you?” Macklin whispered the words he has wanted to ask the last year.

“I thought you never ask.” Gemma whispered back and leaned toward him letting her lips hit against his cold lips, it was like a puzzle piece connecting for the first time. Macklin hand slip to the back of her head tangling in her hair under her beanie.

They both pulled back letting out little relieved laughs as they started at each other with wide smiles and pink cheeks and snowflakes caught on their eyelashes.

“Is it too early to ask you to be my girlfriend.” Macklin mumbled nervously to her.

Gemma let out a small giggle but shook her head fondly, “No, No it isn’t.”

“Good, Will you be my girlfriend?” Macklin smiled nudging his nose gently to her nose.

“Yes.” Gemma giggled nodding her head and pressed her lips back to his.

They pulled back and Gemma smiled softly at her now boyfriend and as much as she wished to stay laying in the snow all day with Macklin she could tell he was freezing.

Gemma always found it so funny that Macklin can be on the ice all day and not be cold but the second he is off the ice, he suddenly is always cold.

“Come on Macky. Let’s warm you up.” Gemma reluctantly got up off the snow and held out her hand to him, Macklin grabbed her hand soflty standing up from the snow feeling himself shivering.

Gemma held onto his hand as they walked back into the apartment building and to her apartment, Gemma opened the door and they walked into the warm apartment.

“I’ll start a warm shower for you.” Gemma spoke softly as they slipped out of their wet snow clothes and hung it up in the entrance way, she grabbed his hand as they walked down and into her bathroom she turned the shower on and made sure it was warm.

“Go on, i’ll get you some clothes.” Gemma smiled softly seeing Macklin looking at her, he nodded and gave her a smile as she walked out of the bathroom closing the door.

Gemma headed to her dresser grabbing a pair of sweatpants and shirt she had stolen from Macklin. She grabbed a towel from her linen closet and walked back to the bathroom door hearing him in the shower and knocked on the door, she heard him speak and she opened the door laying the towel and clothes on the counter before heading out of the bathroom closing the door.

Gemma grabbed a pair of pajamas and changed out of her wet clothes, she put on a pair of fuzzy socks before she walked into the kitchen pulling out two mugs and starting to make hot chocolate.

Macklin got out of the warm shower and put on the clothes Gemma and he threw his wet clothes and towel in her hamper before stealing one of her oversized hoodies slipping it on.

He walked towards the kitchen smelling hot chocolate and got excited, he walked in smiling seeing Gemma topping two mugs with whip cream, He walked behind her wrapping his arms around her waist resting his head on her chin, “Thank you.” Macklin whispered to his now girlfriend.

“Always.” Gemma soflty replied holding up the mug for him, Macklin reluctantly unwrapped one of his hands from Gemma and grabbed the mug quickly drinking it not caring that’s its so hot.

“Careful!” Gemma laughed scolding him, she knew how much Macklin loves hot chocolate.

Macklin just shrugged happily drinking his hot chocolate.

Luca shut the car off once he pulled into the parking lot and he hopped out of the car with Gemma, he grabbed her suitcase for her as she put her duffle bag on her shoulders.

“Have fun Gems.” Luca brushed back a piece of her hair from her face and softly kissed his little sister’s forehead. Luca had wanted to come out and be able to see her play but he was busy during the tournament and Gemma reassured him that it was no big deal.

“Bye Lu.” Gemma softly whispered as her big brother pulled her into a hug, she hugged him back tightly before pulling back and pressing a kiss to his cheek.

Luke walked over to the Fantilli siblings with his suitcase, “Hey Luca.” Luke greeted his friend with a clap of his shoulder before tossing his arm over Gemma’s shoulders.

“Hey Hughesy.” Luca fondly greeted him back, Luca was glad Gemma is so comfortable around Luke and Luca has always been able to tell that Luke adores Gemma and knows she will be in good hands with him.

“I’ve got her.” Luke reassured Luca.

“I know.” Luca smiled nodding.

Luke and Luca had no idea how much truth will ge those words once Gemma gets drafted.

Gemma smiled softly her brother before grabbing her suitcase and heading over to the bus with Luke. Gemma and Luke both gave their suitcases to the workers and checked in before they got into the bus.

Gemma walked down a few rows before plopping down onto a seat and Luke sat down next to her.

Gemma pulled out her phone turning it on and her phone flashed on revealing her lock screen, a photo of Macklin and her laughing with each other and staring at one another with their foreheads touching. Gemma starred at the photo and while she adored seeing a picture of Macklin, it just also made her miss him more.

“Is it going well with him?” Luke curiously but quietly asked her as some the rows around them were filling up. He remembered the first time he heard about Macklin from Gemma and the smile that was on her face and he had a feeling Macklin would be staying around and he was right, Macklin and Gemma got together a few months ago.

Gemma felt her face soften, “Yeah really well.” Gemma softly answered back with a loving smile. A small part of her was really nervous what was going to happen after the draft, it was most likely they would both be drafted far away from one another and she had no idea how they would do it but she shook off the thought not wanting to think about it until she had too.

“Good i’m glad you’rere happy with him Emmie.” Luke told her truthfully making her smile thankful.

Gemma perked up seeing a text come in from Macklin and her attention was entirely on her phone for the next thirty minutes not even realizing the bus had started driving and was already at the airport.

Gemma looked up feeling Luke nudge her and she looked out the window and realized they were at the airport already. She flashed a thankful look at Luke and followed him as she got up and grabbed her duffle bag.

Gemma followed Luke out of the bus and up the stairs of the plane.

Gemma followed Luke like a little duckling and Luke did not care whatsoever, He knew how hard it is to join a new team especially being so much younger than everyone else as she is not even eighteen yet and knows four people on the team.

Luke just wants to make sure Gemma is a comfortable as possible, she is so kind to everyone but she is still very shy and takes a bit to come out do her shell around new people.

Luke happily let Gemma have the window as he knows she likes it better and he likes the aisle to stretch his legs better.

Gemma grabbed Macklin’s black hoodie out of her bag and her over the ear headphones and slipped the hoodie on and started playing her playlist she shares with Macklin and leaned her head on the seat closing her her eyes as she brought her legs up on the seat and curled into a little ball.

Gemma quickly fell asleep under a minute and her head fell onto Luke’s arm, He just glanced at her and closed his eyes going to sleep too.

The plane took off and within a few minutes some of the boys were up and walking around, Matt looked over and noticed Gemma and Luke fast asleep, “Aw.” He mumbled thinking the two are both adorable more so Gemma.

Cole looked over and awed at the two as well.

Will, Gabe and Ryan were sitting around a table and heard Matt and Cole awing and they looked over seeing Gemma fast asleep with Luke.
