So, was Ulysses always supposed to be like a dad to Aax, or did it only come about after he was redeemable and wouldn't die at the end?
Definitely the latter! I don’t remember how much I’ve talked about things in depth before in terms of this, or how much I might be forgetting, so Metta or others can definitely correct me here, but he definitely wasn’t going to be Aax’s dad originally, in the slightest. That was a very late game decision. He was originally going to be almost a villain specifically for Aax and Ocie to combat.
Ulysses was originally just going to be involved with Project Leviathan, but would be able to give some information on Proteus (leaving the spot of the person who freed Aax open for a potential guest NPC)! At that stage, he was still going to be evil and die at the end. I remember at one point even pitching to some people (half jokingly) an almost Hannibal Lector style situation where they basically had him locked up in prison behind glass but would come to him for medical information, or for ways to help the gods (it would be why Fable ended up killing him, so that he couldn’t give information that could harm Fable).
Then at some point I think Metta was the one to suggest that Ulysses be the one who freed Aax. It would have just been a spur of the moment, sudden gaining of a conscience in what Ulysses thought would be his last moments. His final good deed, to make up for as much as he could as he realised how wrong he had been all this time, would be to free Aax. To make even the smallest of amends for the harm he’d caused, not because he cared for Aax, but just because Aax was there to be freed. Ulysses would have found that out not long before he died, and would have died knowing he was, despite everything he did, at least trying to do good. He might not have been a good person, but he did something good, in letting Aax out.
But the longer we sat with that idea, that Ulysses would free Aax, the more we developed it! As Ulysses was planned to stick around and not die, and we started to tie in that storyteller aspect, Metta approached me with the ideas for the animated cutscenes! This idea of Ulysses telling stories to taunt Perseus, but eventually growing despondent to the ways of the Telchin, to the point where he freed her. We scripted the four myth animatics (which eventually were cut down to only three, Proteus, Arachne, and Perseus) where they got softer each time, and we actually rewrote the last one to make it more parental and loving, in the end. And then that arc eventually became more of a caring, loving relationship. Where Ulysses viewed Perseus not as “a living thing that deserves a better life” but “the child I care for and who is my responsibility, who I need to give a better life”.
The actual loving parent decision was very last minute. Like as in,,, the few weeks before that reveal stream I think, when we recorded the cutscenes of the final myth and Ulysses freeing Aax, and saying he was proud of them and cared for them. Not quite being able to say he loved them. It basically wasn’t until we were in prestream call and then actively in the stream role playing live that we decided to have Ulysses say he loved Aax and thought of them as his child, and Aax to say that Ulysses was his dad. It just felt so right to play it like that in the moment, even if we hadn’t planned it to be specifically like that.
And I’m so impossibly happy with how those decisions snowballed and came together and formed into the story we have. It’s genuinely one of my proudest moments as a storyteller and creator and it means so much to me and I can’t thank Metta and everyone else involved enough ���

Critical Role's Previous Cameraman
I put up a post the other day about critical role's new animated introduction and I couldn't help but notice a sudden spike in the analytical stuff that I don't really understand. A more tech orientated friend of mine informed me that this was a good thing, actually. So, I thought I might capitalise on that and examine the previous campaign's opening sequence through the same lens and do some more analysis.
Let me explain.
SPOILERS AHEAD
One notable thing about this song is when it starts. Exactly eleven seconds in. That's eleven seconds of wait before the final payoff. You catch glimpses of what's happening above, but nothing else.
And that is a key theme of this campaign. The unseen. The Mighty Nein was a party characterised by trauma, and a lot of the time, you don't see that, you only see glimpses. A flash of a fight they told you about, and the sensation of drowning.
But then we meet Fjord.
He's falling, and I'd like to point out the direction in which he is falling. You will notice the scars on his back, signifying he was probably in the process of running away, or was betrayed by someone, and he is falling towards those scars. Backwards. There is also a neat thing of falling away from the light, into the darkness, into the unknown. THis is someone out of control, leaning into the pain. And what is it that sees that?
There is a reason Uk'otoa's design looks so much like a leach. The creature is a parasite, it doesn't find someone strong to break down, it found someone weak, and at its mercy, and brought him under its control. What this shot does is highlight that creature's opportunistic nature, but it also associates it very clearly with the visual of that eye.
And it's that eye that carries through. When Fjord washes up on the beach, when he is finally safe, he carries with him a little piece of Uk'otoa, a little piece of that trauma.
It's also notable of that it is an eye. It's obvious, but it colours his vision, and changes how he views the world. Its effects aren't physical, but mental.
Beaureguard Lionet is a fighter. Not in the sense of class, because she isn't but in the sense of personality. Beau is a fighter in the sense that her first reaction to any problem is to punch it.
This transition is a wipe transition, but its important because of what it uses. It uses the opportunity to show off the uniforms of Beau's attackers, because otherwise the shadows of the rest of the shot make them hard to make out. These are wearing the same robes as her. Whoever they are, they are part of a team of some kind with her, they are people she should be able to trust, but look at how much damage they have done to her. Look at how heavily she is breathing. And look at what Beau does in response.
She fights back. This is how the animation gets across this character. She isn't complex, she doesn't need a great explanation, she doesn't have different sides to her, she just hits things until they stop being a problem.
I will also point out her eyes again. They are blue, not an unnatural eye colour, but they are the same blue as her robes, and the robes of those who are attacking her. Once again, the has warped the vision of its recipient, and in this case, it's creating a cycle of violence as all she knows how to do, is hit things.
We don't see Nott The Brave for a while in this animatic. We instead see, once again, the eyes. But I also want to point out that this was made before we knew about Veth. So we were just seeing the scared goblin.
This is as close as we get in this scene, and its Nott actively hiding from the light. The warmth scares her, and for good reason, its the same heat that we see emanating from her eyes. Once again, the trauma that has contaminated a character's vision is changing their reactions to the world.
And with that, I would like to talk about Jester, and I would like to do that in context.
The term "foil" in the context of a character was actually popularised by William Shakespear, who handily explained the metaphor for us.
"And like bright metal on a sullen ground, My reformation, glitt'ring o'er my fault, Shall show more goodly and attract more eyes Than that which hath no foil to set it off."
Put in English, I shine brighter when you have something to compare me to. And this is what a foil character is, a character who brings about elements in other characters that can easily be missed, or who shows off by contrast their personalities.
Jester is one of the two characters in the Mighty Nein who is not a child of trauma, and her introduction shows that. She reacts to her life by laughing, and contrast that with everyone else. Fjord reaches for a sword, the item of his trauma; Beau tries to fight her trauma despite that approach clearly not working; and Nott hides from it, unable to reach out for help.
And it is notable that the first time we see an adult Jester, she looks normal (if a bit over cheerful), then is immediately contrasted with the rest of the Nein.
This not only shows just how different her demeanour is from the rest of the crew, but it shows her effect on them. She makes them all smile. Jester and Caduceus are very much support characters in the truest sense of the word. They support others. Jester shows genuine kindness towards everybody else, and it reflects onto them.
This shot is neat but not too special. Its a tracking shot on the hat of all things, because thats what important here, and it shows the traveling dynamic of the group. It's a tiny bit of tension in an otherwise calm scene, so the camera is steady, but speeds up slightly to match the movement of the object, then comes to a stop when it is caught. There is very little stress, but there is a sense of comradery.
Similarly, this shot establishes some stakes with a rising pan to show the scale of the threat and to show some more information, but it is hardly a monster, so the camera isn't really in a hurry.
Enter Caleb Widogast, born in fire. I don't think they could write a more thematic entrance if they tried. An abrupt cut shows the night, then it is entirely consumed by fire, only to reveal Caleb.
There is no motion here. The camera is stock still. This is the exact same thing with Ashton and FCG in the Bell's Hells. Caleb is disassociating from the heat in front of him, and there is a fascinating reason behind that. Caleb has two characters that need to be introduced to better understand him, the man, and Bren, the boy.
The flames consume the screen again, and then part to show a boy, staring at the screen, in horror. This is what you need to know about this character, this is a character forged in flames, born from the Ashes. Bren is dead, Caleb Widogast remains.
And this shot, with Caleb, Astrid and Eadwulf silhouetted against the fire, shows what kind of trauma we are talking about, and what effect it has. This is guilt, and in contrast with the rest of his party, this guilt is paralysing.
Yasha, however, is introduced in a calm way, in contrast to everything around her. The camera shows you a woman, meditating, and then pans backwards to reveal this:
This is a woman surrounded by bloodshed, who has made a concerted effort to look away from it, and to look to the Storm Lord for guidance. This is a woman looking for healing, in comparison to everyone else, but that looking doesn't change the fact that that trauma is still there.
The next few scenes are cool, but don't really add anything to this analysis and I only have a few more images I can show here, so I'm going to skip to Taliesin's characters.
Caduceus has two introductions. One is this shot, which is a cool action shot of him casting an epic spell and vanquishing a crowd of enemies. But instead of the incredibly animated (in the sense of exaggerated poses) nature of his companions, Caduceus clay is calm and collected. He is unquestionably the anchor of the group, and where Jester contrasts them emotionally, Caduceus does so on a philosophical level. Caduceus is a gardener of fungus.
Mushrooms and other fungi are recyclers, they grow on dead trees and creatures and give a forest new life. They clear out the debris and make way for new things to take hold. That's what Caduceus does for the Nein, he helps them get through their trauma so that Jester can help them improve and become better.
Caduceus's actual introduction is muted, and there's a point to that. He's not trying to be the main character, you don't need to understand his family life to understand him. You need to understand that can stand in a graveyard and see the light, that he is at peace with what has gone before him and helps people to get past it, and that his entire mission, to regrow the grove, isn't to bring back what is lost, but to help regrow something new in its place instead of the blight that lingers there.
Mollymauk is introduced as a weapon transformed into a grave. That is what this transition is and I think that's really important. Mollymauk is, very clearly, a repurposed soul. He isn't the first person to inhabit that shell, and he isn't the last. I also want to point out how this character is represented here, not with a heroic memory, but with a quiet moment or remenicing on times gone by. He is a shadow that haunts the Nein.
This is by far the simplest shot in the entire video, and that's because it isn't telling you anything. You bring your own emotions to the table here, you bring the memories to the grave, that's how grieving works.
Once again, there is more to this video, but I'm only allowed to put 30 images in a single post. So I leave you with a quote from Niel Gaiman.
"Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten."
DnD likewise, and all TTRPGs for that matter, are powerful because in them, with a little bit of help from friends, any monster, no matter how personal, can be defeated.

City of Stars | Professor Layton Animatic
❗️[MINOR SPOILERS TO UNWOUND FUTURE]❗️
OMG WOW JUST WOW how did I get here?! I finished a WHOLE animatic within a few days,,,HOLY F-
I just really really want to say that this piece of art I’ve made was my first ever finished animatic. I have tried to make animatics in the past but my motivation was not doing it for me. But for this one in particular, the idea came into my head around a week or two ago before making this animatic. It’s kinda funny considering that I get sudden bursts of motivation to make grand projects before I start college ahahahah. However, within the short time span I had, I spedrun through it but gave it just enough time to pour my heart into it. This may not be my Magnus Opus (it is for the moment ><💖💕💖) BUUUTTT! This could potentially lead to one in the future perhaps?? Idk, we’ll see ;)
As for the context for this animatic: Clive is having some doubts about a relationship with his special someone (who that someone is, y’all can make your guesses ;] ) that he wants to keep, but he can’t at the same time because he wants to continue forward with his mission for justice. He’s confused and conflicted, to put it simply. Will he leave his s/o behind? Or will he stay with them? 👀
That’s enough context for now, I hope you guys will enjoy it animatic as much as I did making it ♡(=^ ◡ ^=)

kyoya would maybe be able to kick a football under the right circumstances. kaoru would be having fun until he kicks a little too hard and ends up twisting his ankle and he never touches a football after that.
mafia bossed up kyoya is thoroughly confused at why kaoru is like way more affectionate/clingy than normal. like he's NOT letting go of him. i just realised if hikaru watched all of kaoru's cringy gacha animatics then he'd so RECOGNIZE kyoya's wack ass outfit and burst out laughing 😭
kaoru probably tries to get freaky back home and kyoyas like "ok fine let me take off this outfi-" only to be met with the loudest ***NO*** from kaoru who's staring at him like like an electrified chihuahua.
the freaking doesn't last very long because halfway into it while under kyoya, kaoru suddenly just realizes what he's doing right now and cracks up and LOSES IT. like he takes a look at kyoya again and realizes wtf he's doing at his Grown Ass Age and actually starts cackling to the point he can't do it anymore
Kaoru would try to be into football for exactly eight minutes just in case that's what Kyoya's into (cough Kuze cough) and then would never speak of it again. jk jk
God. Hikaru would never let Kaoru live this down. He knows to bide his time for the wedding reel, but he would be making snarky comments the entire night.
Kaoru's sudden clarity...the sudden WHAT AM I DOING. Probably triggered also by trying to feed Kyoya demon mafia lord lines from one of his scripts and Kyoya delivering it in the flattest, most put-off deadpan. And it sounding ridiculous.
Crying at "electrified chihuahua." I know exactly what you mean, it's exactly the visualisation I have in my head of him. Just fuzzed up frenetic energy. Like this guy

QSMP Rambling (Tallulah and Chayenne)
(Main context: QSMP is a multilingual minecraft multiplayer server with streamers playing and I specifically follow Philza but watch clips and read happenings from other streamers)
Good god help me I was going to just enjoy philza's qsmp portion of the stream but then apparently lore stuff happened and now the eggs are clashing. (I rambled way too much, so I'm putting it below oops)
Though the lore stuff is not something I dislike, my mind immediately honed in more on how the two eggs I watched QSMP for mostly ended up. Tbh, I started watching QSMP because I saw clips and animatics connecting Chayenne to Techno and then I think I started officially watching Wilbur's streams when Tallulah happened. Not immediately, but it was either the 2nd or 3rd stream with her.
Chayenne was one of the outgoing eggs, picking fights and jumping off of the wall his dads made a home on. Tallulah was the youngest at the time, I think, and was mostly sweet, gentle, loved flowers and music. Chayenne was one of the first eggs and iirc only 4 of the og batch remain. Wilbur left after making sure Philza could care for Tallulah, and Chayenne ended up needing to do the same considering he was the older kid that had more experience.
And then things got worse for the eggs. The code monsters, the kidnapping as people or groups organized shit, and then the eggs left thinking they would be protecting their parents after being threatened.
Chayenne ends up as one of, if not the main, leader of the eggs. Tallulah was known by most as "not a fighter". Needed to protect and needed to be protected respectively. Their dynamic was almost always like this. Chayenne was cared for by his dads of course, but Missa has irl stuff to do and Philza needed to give Tallulah more attention since she needed help. Tallulah has been missing her father for months now- even if the server cared for her, she wasn't their special person. She felt like someone that needed pity and was given it- not like as if they would've cared otherwise...
I'm going all over the place but despite it somewhat feeling sudden how they acted in the recent stream, I feel like I can understand mostly what was going on with them switching in choices. Tallulah used to want love and peace- she's tired of being "useless" and a "burden" for not being able to fight. Chayenne used to be one of the reckless eggs- he's exhausted from being given most of the responsibility whenever they're in danger.
He's tired from all of the action. She's tired from all the inaction.
Chayenne wants to fucking rest for once in his life, meanwhile Tallulah wants to actually help fighting for once in her life.
They got separated before/during Purgatory.
Tallulah had to survive with Dapper and Ramon who seemed to be closer friends with each other and Tallulah maybe envied their bond. But they're still siblings and so she cares deeply about Dapper being kept hostage right now. She frustrated over bonds people get to have because she can't connect with them when she doesn't even have a real pillar to stand on. Missed her dad so much that even with the family he left her with, she doesn't feel like she belongs. She just wants her dad back with her but she's changed. She's scared. She wants to be useful and actually do something so that people don't see her as a weakling anymore.
Chayenne was perceived as one of the stronger eggs. He had to keep calm and focus on keeping everyone safe. He was stuck for however long without even knowing if Tallulah was still alive. He was cared for by Phil and Missa and then Missa needed to leave while Phil had to figure out how to take care of Tallulah with Chayenne. He wouldn't necessarily blame his dads, but a kid wants attention. A kid would love to feel special care from their parents more. But no, Chayenne needed to push aside his wants because others need more care and protection. Maybe not intentionally forced by others into the leader role, but he got into the role and people listened, so people started perceiving him as the one in charge if things happened to the eggs. But it's not like he's immune from all the bullshit they've been going through just because he's not acting out like some others. He's been carrying a heavy weight on his shoulders by staying in the protector role. He loves his siblings and wants them safe, but he's tired and wants to be cared for back instead of simply being looked up to as a leader. He doesn't want pure idolization or criticisms in doing his "job"- he just. He needs a break.
Philza, god bless him, the man's gotta deal with all this bullshit happening on the island while still caring for his eggs. The kids say he's a wonderful dad while Phil says he's been shit at it if he didn't notice them feeling this way or not caring sooner. He does care, but Rose told him he needed to recover his lost courage for a reason. He's understandably terrified of everything that could kill the eggs, that could kill or take him away from being able to be with his kids again, but he needs to regain the confidence he once had in himself to be able to face things stronger too. But that's... It feels bad saying things like that.
Like father like son, I guess. They both just want to rest. But Tallulah's tired of being given rest. That's what most people seem to tell her to do while everyone else goes off to do all the important shit. She can't do the important things because she "can't" fight. She's changed. Chayenne's change. God, Philza's changed from what the Ender King and Rose saw of him before QSMP.
I don't know a solution for this, I don't think a solution could be easily made when there are factors outside of this family's control affecting them. I know they talked it out by the end, but I'm still worried yet intrigued by how things might continue on. The dynamic between the two eggs just tickles my brain in the fun way. I don't think I tend to focus so hard on things that aren't my own OCs- usually I take what happens in a thing and use it as inspiration for my own stuff. But these two are just... I want them to be okay in the end. I want to see Tallulah being allowed to be the strong badass she wants to prove herself to be while still accepting that people care for her in a way that they'd be willing to risk a lot for her too. I want to see Chayenne being allowed to relax, to take the backseat and have fun while not needing to worry about shit messing up their entire lives. I want to see Philza being able to take the kids on adventures and just being able to have a good time with them without the terror of everything threatening their damn lives.
I want for them to be okay and they're trying. Damn it, they're trying as much as they can to be okay for everyone else too.

So to me that sounds like an AU:

Kidge had their first son and soon after, a new war started... The baldes were needed and so was Keith...
Katie and him both talked about it a lot and she knew that they needed him... It hurt her a lot, but she decided to stay strong. She had to stay on earth for their son.
And of course, if Keith was going for a second war it was to protect his son and wife from it...
And he misses them everyday, would trade anything to see them again.
Then, one day, he ends up on a planet, fighting on grounds with his usual blade... But after killing some guys and seeing their blood on his hands and on his blades, he suddenly started to feel guilt. Wondered if that made him a monster... Because these people are just like him: fighting a war that they didn't start in the first place... Probably having a family waiting for them at home...
Would he be a good father for his son after that?... That's not who he was... He used to save families, but now...
While looking at himself in a blood puddle, someone attacked him from behind...
That's how he died, and he is sorry to leave his family this way... Sorry for destroying other families... For not even saving his own family...
But he's just a man.
(OK, WE NEED AND ANIMATIC- like really, think of this scenario while listening. It sticks exactly to the music itself! (Not talking about the lyrics here, more of the instrumentals) like it goes from soft which can be when he leaves his family and thinks of them, then, the music gets a bit more "violent" which is the war... The vocals are adding behind which can show the moment during which he is questioning himself and finally, it ends on a last and sudden note. When he died. I can picture the animatic in my head but I can't draw- if you can tho, contact me, I have ideas🙌)

hello. I'm a fan of your david/jonathan. Your david/jonathan is one of my greatest joys these days. When I saw this video, I thought I was going to die because it was so cute. If you see an article about an unknown sudden death, think it's me. And I thought about it a few times, and it seems like the reason the author won't make a sequel is because David's story suddenly turned into a game of thrones after Jonathan died, and the author's beloved David disappeared from there after that. Let's see, making excuses to kill all the men in Saul's royal family except Mephibosheth and his son, separating the princess and her husband, watching Joab kill people because it was profitable, etc. Of course, before that, there were many times when David acted mercilessly, such as eliminating witnesses, but when he started plotting in earnest… wouldn't it be possible to also have a conspiracy theory that David broke Mephibosheth's leg? In the Bible, if we interpret the statement that David had his master's women as meaning that he inherited the prince's women, then the nurse who dropped the child may have received instructions from David. And the reason I did that was because I wanted to save Mephibosheth. So, the novel ended with the death of the two main characters, and since all the main characters died, I don't think there will be a sequel. Well, that was a depressing story. Changing the topic, this video was so cute! Saul must have done great harm to the welfare of the palace staff. Even if they received the same salary, the job satisfaction of palace employees would have been very different when David lived in the palace and when he left. Because it would no longer be fun to eavesdrop outside the door. A job where you can pay money and a job where you get paid are very different. LOL But the best scene was the belt…!
Thank you for liking my take on David/Jonathan! They are kind of a big mix of the different content I have consumed about them. And yeah, I think my favorite shot working on the opera animatic was when David pulled off his belt. We all know what he was about to do! 😏
Yeah, I could also give criticism of The Prince's Psalm that the author's obvious weak point when it comes to writing is how he writes fight scenes and political stuff. There is like only one fight scene, and that is David VS Goliath, and that scene was clunky. The other, what would be considered fight scenes, just fade to black or more like we only see the build-up to it. And when David is in the wilderness is the weaker part of the novel when he is gathering his army and doing political/military warfare. I think Eric Shaw Quinn's strongest traits are the character building and interactions.
Well, David didn't die at the end of the novel. He "died" at the tent when he heard the news of Jonathan's death and only left simply to continue the war. He is not the same person when he sang The Song of Bows even if it has been decades later. And it's pretty much the reason why I would love that the "what if" sequel had someone else as a main character. Like Mephibosheth or Absalom. Because it would introduce us to David as a new character that has changed, and it would make us, the reader, feel a type of longing for him to heal and return to the David we once knew from The Prince's Psalm.
And there are so many different takes you can do with the story of Mephibosheth or Absalom. Especially, there are so many topics you could tackle with Mephibosheth. Like his disability would be a key factor for many issues or themes. David made a rule in his palace that any disabled person would be executed if they entered. So we have Absalom growing up in a palace that was discriminating. And suddenly his own father brings in a disabled young man and says this is his brother, and if anyone hurts him, David will murder everyone. And that pretty much happens in the Bible! Everyone got thrown out of the loop.
It also brings up the question if Mephibosheth really loved David back or was his loyalty only based on him being thankful for David showing him mercy. Does Mephibosheth feel even comfortable that the only reason why he is alive is due to he is Jonathan's son?
I dunno, I love angst. I would eat it whole in one second if I ever got a The Prince's Psalm sequel!

im asking because i'd like to make an animatic where a specific user starts losing control while in their awakened form because the fruit and the user de-synchronize due to a sudden emotional gut punch :)

so him saying "glad to see you've still got that big mouth, straw hat" is more like... "I'm glad to see you're still you. here's what's happening to u rn, btw" since he already put 2 and 2 together that luffy's a zoan last chapter
to immediately jump into "we call this an awakening" means that's probably what kaido had on his mind, right?! like he was wondering if luffy had lost himself to nika's will instead of aligning with it and that's why kaido kinda randomly asks who he is, THEN starts explaining what awakenings are once luffy confirms it's still him
after all, luffy's been acting a bit differently since he changed forms and kaido's definitely picked up on that (he's more carefree, he's just a goofy guy now)
im also kinda backing this up with non-canon stuff given the road/lode to laughtale chapters where, along with all the g5/nika doodles, are a bunch of notes where oda questions what the fallout will be from awakening
[also interesting to note that oda seems to have 'scrapped' the idea that luffy's ability to bring people together was actually one of nika's powers all along. im happy to see that tbh i think he's just a charismatic guy]
and we've also seen that luffy struggles at least a little bit to control his new abilities in egghead
like, yeah, luffy is kinda clowning on lucci during this fight, but he also barely has control to the point he can't be serious when atlas's life is on the line
because he was taking things much more seriously before he transforms
vs after chopper already told him to hurry up or atlas isn't going to make it
[to be fair, you can argue he does get a lot more serious once the fighting's over and chopper urges him to hurry for the 2nd time
but this is also right before he detransforms...]

ON ANOTHER OCEAN - Fleeting Foxes
Oh, this song. This song is so Lady and Six core. This is the song that inspired Seafarers ((although the fic is named after another beautiful song that always makes me think of them as well)) and my go-to when I need to get into that Six & Lady feel. If I had to pick a song to make a LN animatic to, it'd be this one.
The context of the song itself relates to various themes. Running away from responsabilities, the struggles that come with opening up to new people, not trusting anyone, being afraid of judgement -- so on. It also has tons of very nice eye imagery. It's a beautifully written and executed song, I beg you to go listen to it and then come back to this post.
I interpret the first half of the song to be applicable to both of them, with lines such as 《 Biding your time on another ocean, falling into line in the cold and dim 》 reminding me of the Maw and them both adhering to their respective roles in its sustainance. "Biding your time" is an expression I particularly love because it means waiting for something: the Lady waiting for Six to come find her. That's what the ticking clock in her room is, at the end of the day, isn't it? In the context of Seafarers, I named the first chapter after this line because the Lady is waiting for Six to kill her -- which eventually doesn't end up happening.
^^ ((《 Was [s]he not quite as you had conceived [her]? 》; this line will also apply to Six later on, when she realizes that the Lady is much closer to her in nature than she is to the other monsters and it deeply unnerves her. 《 Did the colors of the light hide the fire in the eyes? 》 also applies to this context as the Lady did not expect Six to rebel to the cycle [and later on to her] and gets angry at her for it. During the same instance, Six also finds herself afraid of the Lady's sudden display of emotion because up to a few seconds ago, the Lady was going to give up, but now she -- much like her -- is reactig driven by survival instinct. Most importantly, this is the first time Six sees a slither of humanity in an adult and the fact that it's so close to her own, again, destabilises her. Everything they do is completely unexpected for the other and as much as they wish it was incomprehensible, they always find points that ties them to the other and it stings.))
The two lines preceeding the chorus, 《 Wherever you run, you see all you leave behind you/you see only eyes behind you 》 is again applicable to both of them, and how they literally and figuratively cut their pasts away from their current selves, and yet it always finds a way to catch up to them one way or another. And of course, the more literal eyes they live under, always watching them.
The titular "other ocean" in this context is each other. They are the other ocean the other can't seem to open up to. Something that is so foreign and yet so familiar.
The second verse of the song is more easily divided into Lady and Six bits. I see it as a conversation between each other and reflections on themselves. The first verse is VERY Lady talking to Six as it states:
《 So, do you think the smoke won't enfold you? 》, referring of course to the ending of LN I, but also to the fate that has bestowed the Lady and the ones before her. To the madame, Six's refusal to go through with her fate is the uncomfortable demonstration that she too had that same power. And instead she just chose to follow it because it was easier. The Lady wouldn't give up her position for anything in the world, but even then, this freedom Six has makes her incredibly angry. She is convinced that eventually all this will catch up go Six. It continues with, 《 Or there'll be someone waiting for you, out in the distance then? 》, which is meant to be a derision as the Lady and Six both know that there is no one and nothing waiting for Six off the Maw. No place can ever provide the comfort and safety the Maw does. Whatever is out there will be infinitely worse. There is no certainty, no guarantee that she will live: nothing at all. Six is completely alone and defenseless anywhere that is not the Maw.
The next verse is from Six's perspective. It is a plead, sort of, but also an acknowledgement.
《 If only anything could change you.》 This line resonated very strongly with me while writing because I think it encapsulates the feeling of "child acting like an adult and adult acting like a child" perfectly. In the context of Seafarers, the Lady is essentially throwing a very elegant tantrum. On the other hand, Six is reflecting. Her plan is to escape the Maw, yes, and to do that she needs to study a way out. Doing so causes her to inevitably come to "know" the Lady and, while their similarities cause her to be incredibly uncomfortable and upset, it also creates an inexplicable feeling of kinship.
Wanting to be understood is human. And Six is a nine year old girl who has lived through the unimaginable. None of her peers has gone through what she has. But the Lady did. Out of everyone, she is the only one who could ever understand Six. If only they could see eye to eye. Six is young, she doesn't know how to put this feeling to words and even if she did, she doesn't want to admit it as she knows it will be immediately rejected: it's frustrating as it is sad. 《 If only you knew what you claim to, if only every sign you cling to -- if only they were so. 》
I find the 《 And I won't bleed out if I know me 》 line to be incredibly Ladycore because... the Lady doesn't know herself. And she will bleed out eventually because of it.
The 《 Don't deny me! 》 comes from both ends. Six asks for the Lady to not deny her (by extension, her own past self she sees in her, as well as the yellow raincoat they both used to share), and the Lady orders Six not to deny their shared fate and the legacy of the Lady of the Maw.
The 《 I will lead it in the morning, I won't even if I know it 》 is Six eventually trying to come to terms with her future once the Lady is gone. A part of her has been irrequivocably changed from the experience (( 《 You [Six] ended up too strained 》 )) but it doesn't change the fact that she doesn't want to be on the Maw. She doesn't want to be the next Lady. Even if she was to try like her predecessor tried to manipulate her into, she would still crave freedom. She would always look for somewhere else to go.
On one hand, she has her duties and responsibilities towards the children of the Maw; on the other, herself. She has to let go of one to let the other survive. And suddenly she is in the Lady's shoes, back when she was still named Five. The intentions of the two are very different though: while Six wants to look out for her peers, Five only cared about her own protection. But the outcome might still be the same; at the end of her journey, Six might no longer be Six.

Thank youuu for the ghostbur response. It read my mind (or my notesapp, rather)! I anonymized myself because I didn't know how ghostbur criticism would be received (since he is VICIOUSLY defended sometimes) but you share my opinion!!!I think that Ghostbur kind of facilitated the polarization of Wilbur Soot after his death, especially for Tommy. In truth, L’manbur was no saint and Pogbur was no villain, but it’s hard for Tommy to view it that way after Wilbur’s down spiral and death. He would have already deified L’manbur because he’s already associated with much more positive memories, and Wilbur's drastic change in Pogtopia* would have left him a little traumatized at how different his family member/close friend had become, leading him to shift his focus more on happier times (and try to reclaim them, through trying to win back L’manburg and the version of Wilbur he seemed to have lost). Compared to Pogbur, L’manbur seemed like a saint. L’manbur began to symbolize that safety, that kindness that had suddenly “vanished” from Pogtopia Wilbur. And then, of course, that “new” version of Wilbur blows up L’Manburg and any hopes of reclaiming that stability. Tommy would not easily accept that the Wilbur who did all of this is the same as the beloved President Soot. *Pogtopia WIlbur’s change wasn’t that drastic, actually. Wilbur was canonically a little unstable/stressed during the presidential era, but never opened up to anyone– especially not Tommy, who looked up to him. So to an outsider, Wilbur’s descent looked like an almost sudden collapse. But then Ghostbur is added to the mix. He isn’t L’manbur, not at all, because even L’manbur had suffered and grown as a result (Eret’s betrayal, etc etc), but he’s the closest thing to the Wilbur from the happier memories. He isn’t Wilbur BEFORE the suffering, but he’s Wilbur if the suffering never happened. And Tommy, having just lost a brother figure and been exiled a second time, isn’t going to try to make that distinction. When he or anyone else asks Ghostbur why Alivebur did what he did and Ghostbur can’t answer, Tommy relents– and at that point, Ghostbur no longer is a way to heal from Wilbur's death, he becomes a means for escapism. It’s not Ghostbur’s fault, he doesn’t mean to have this effect on anyone, but it doesn’t mean that he didn’t cause it. You hear this polarization in what Tommy tells Tubbo when they’re going to attack Dream for the last time (in the Final Waltz SAD-ist animatic): “ You know the OLD Wilbur? Let’s make him proud.” ...But there really isn’t an OLD or NEW Wilbur at all. Wilbur has always been Wilbur, yet everyone seems to subconsciously separate “L’manbur” and “Pogbur” into two completely different people. The Saint and the Devil. When Revivebur comes back, he isn’t L’Manbur OR Ghostbur. Revivebur is different, different from what Tommy remembers L’Manbur to be, and Ghostbur is gone because of his return.

i will say i dont think ghostbur ruined c!crimeboys, i think he was more of a symbol of one of my favorite themes in c!crimeboys which is change:
c!tommy as you mentioned does not like change, so much of his arc is surrounded by this air of things changing before he can really process them, and being forced to pick up the pieces, even though he wasnt the one who caused the change in the first place (this is where a lot of the parallels between him and jesse from breaking bad come in for me, because while he is not an innocent, he suffers the consequences of other people’s actions far too often, with barely anyone actually recognizing that he’s allowed to be upset over how unfair it is)
meanwhile c!wilbur wants change, but only change he can control. control is such a big thing for c!wilbur, and he wants to have control over as much as he can in order to protect those he loves, and often he has to change things to do this. however, change does not listen to someone in charge, which is the major struggle c!wilbur has, and often he creates consequences that tommy has to deal with (especially in the case of when he blew up l’manburg) and in the end, its not something he can learn to accept, and thats why its his downfall (this is a big part of why he blew up l’manburg. he wanted the change, he wanted the control over what he created, but the change wasnt the change he wanted and controlled
so this is the constant strife with c!crimeboys: they are always moving in different directions. c!wilbur embraces change that he controls while c!tommy tries to deny change because its how he feels in control. neither of them really have control over anything, but tommy is the only one who can really accept this, even if he doesnt want to.
so to me, this is what ghostbur symbolizes. he symbolizes the opposite of what c!wilbur is because he can never change, and he cant feel in control of anything. so c!tommy gets a very altered view of c!wilbur because of ghostbur and the way he allows him to cling onto a past that doesnt actually exist, and it largely symbolizes this constant fight they have. they’re brothers, but they’re destined to be each other’s downfall if they actually remain with each other

I cant believe this was dated back in August 25, 2022
[BLOOD AND FLASH WARNING!!!] Also cringeness
I was so proud of doing this until I realized my phone space is filling up cause the phone I was using before was so old and now the recent phone I'm using is a new one.
About plot:
This plot was about how Squilliam was selfish and wanted Squidward all to himself than anyone not even Spongebob on the way.
From his jealous state he felt anger and envyness from the poriferan to the point who thought it would be easier of taking him out by 'killing him'
When the sniper did pointed the gun at Spongebob's back Squidward saw and knew what was going to happen to him, then he quickly jumped in and saved him right on time.
But after he did, Squidward from the massive impact and the ammount of blood he lost while the hospital is on its way. He didn't make it.
Spongebob attended Squidwards funeral and from seeing Squilliam just so sudden and his reaction seeing how torn out he was that he was planning on 'killing him (spongebob)' not SQUIDWARD.
Spongebob got very angry and mad and the hatred formed from his emotions felt nothing 'nice' anymore but a pure and HATE to blame on Squilliam because of that.
Squidward and Spongebob had been dating until Squilliam took his life away, so he took revenge on breaking into his place and taking away Squilliam's life.
But I wasn't sure on how this plot would work if he did kill Squilliam but if he did. He'll probably feel guilt and emptyness now that Squidward is gone and him taking away Squilliams life resulting from the consequences from his actions leading to taking him in prison for the charges of murder.
And this second plot is where Squilliam and Spongebob had this intense fight where Squilliam wanted Spongebob to calm down but he couldnt. Then Squilliam mentioned something about himself involving about his life including Squidward which made him calm some of his nerves until he eventually fall back and listened to whatever Squilliam said to him. At the end of this scene they both sat next to each other with broken walls or floors on their side staring at the cloudy sky until it's pitch black.
But DAMN old me was hitting hard on this animation tbh now that I'm making another animatic of @dangosenpi 's I actually cant wait for myself to see the final result and for them to see 🥳
This is probably the 2nd animation put in effort!

With the appearance of ghosts in the original canon of children, and the implied appearance of one in Omori. Do you think Bianca might be visited by ghosts of William's other victims? In her dreams at the very least.
And one more question how did her SOMETHING look like?
✨ Fortunately, due to William's sudden death in the GUI AU, I'd like to think that Sammy and C&C were finally freed/put to rest since their murderer is finally gone/the mystery is uncovered about what happened to those missing people.
The reason for why they show up in her dreams is because before isolating, she had caught glimpses of the previous victims through missing posters/the newspaper talking about how the three were finally found and can now have proper funerals.
Ghosts do exist however. It is implied in the AU that Daniel visits Bianca in her dreams to try to communicate/help her on her path through grief. It's done in a similar fashion to how it's done in OMORI where it's unclear whether it's straight up his ghost or just Bianca's own mind, but yeahh.
His ghost form can either look peaceful in Headspace, or could look fucked up and turn into something similar to Hellmari in GUI's eyes! This will scare Bianca awake most of the time.
As for Bianca's (and Michael's) something, it takes the form of an eye!
As mentioned before, there is also something similar to Hellmari. I haven't made a whole ref for it yet, but there is some shots from my animatic where I drew it briefly.
Me and Bon wanted to make it so the eyes bleed out into the rest of the body, making it this freakishly tall and lanky figure. I also wanted to go for a more realistic approach similar to Hellmari so yeah! The day I finally make a proper ref for it, I will simply pass away 😭

Hello everyone! Happy 8th Anniversary to Undertale and 2nd Anniversary to Deltarune Chapter 2!! Hard to believe Undertale’s been around for so long already and that the funny spam man has existed for 2 years now. I figured that since it’s such an important day in the fandom I’d check in, say hello, and explain where I’ve been and when I’ll be back!
Cause, once again, I definitely disappeared 😔 I meant to make my usual “hey college is starting back up I’ll be away for a month or longer while I sort myself out” post but that…obviously didn’t happen. Part of why is I was busier than usual leading up to the first week of the year, helping with freshman move in and orientation! Which was fun, but I apologize for the sudden absence with no explanation because of it.
College has definitely started! I’m on Week 4 now, and throughly enjoying all of my classes, but they’re keeping me busy. Small Philosophy and Communication Law assignments every week, and this week I have a couple screenwriting assignments to do, too. And with a D&D campaign on Fridays and work on the weekend, there’s really no space of time for me to really be here. You might have seen me send asks and like posts the past couple weeks but that’s all I’ve really been able to do.
But enough about apologies and excuses-when will I be back to get to what I owe? Well, despite having no work this weekend, it’s still out because of family weekend activities at college and a baby shower to go to. The next long break at college isn’t until October, which isn’t ideal to keep you guys waiting til, but honestly my grades suffered a lot last fall, and I think part of it was because I focused on being here above everything else. Not that you guys aren’t awesome and important, far from it!! You guys are awesome and definitely important ❤️❤️ But real life is just as important, and I don’t want that to happen again.
So I’m just going to say that if something happens and I’m able to get to everything before then, great!! But if not, that’s how things will have to be, and even if I am able to get to stuff early I’ll probably be dipping right back out again. I also deleted all of the asks in my inbox, just so my brain doesn’t get overwhelmed with things to reply to when I do come back. If you remember what you asked me and want to send it again, please do! It’s nothing personal, it’s just to avoid mental clutter.
Well, I think that’s about all that I wanted to update you guys with! There’s an awesome Deltarune fan animation that just came out yesterday for the anniversary, it’s awesome so please check it out (warning for flashing lights and some disturbing stuff towards the end). I’ve been thinking about you guys a lot, like “every new Alternative song I listen to conjures mental AMVs/animatics of our muses together” a lot, but unfortunately things are going to have to wait a little while longer. I’m sorry once again, but it’s for the best.
