what if #6 for the spotify ask game?
hi em! number 6 is quite fun in my opinion :3
so because of one very specific submas animatic, I could not get Ingo Pokemon Arceus/Pokemon B/W out of my head. so I don't think you go here but I could not stop myself <3 I hope you enjoy anyway! (1063 words)
Ingo stretches his legs as he sits in the grass. Akari is perched on her heels beside him, staring off into the distance, squinting against the sun. Ingo runs his hand through the fescue sticking up beside him—he’s tired, warm from sitting in the sun, fighting sleep with every ounce of his body. He hadn’t been getting a lot of that lately, dealing with the Sneasel kits. From her place beside him, Akari hums, her eyebrows furrowing.
“Anything?” Ingo asks. Akari hums again, sounding frustrated.
“Nothing yet,” she says. “We’ll know it as soon as we see it.”
“And what exactly is it?” Ingo asks, more out of curiosity than anything else.
`“It,” Akari emphasizes, trying a sigh to keep the budding disappointment out of her voice. “Is a time dilation. It looks like someone took a huge dome and smacked it over a big piece of the landscape.”
Ingo hums, mouth twisting to the side as his eyes flick tiredly over the landscape. Like… like…
There’s a shimmer, meters off in the distance. Like a mirage, dancing over a wide patch of grass, disrupting a group of sleeping caterpie. Ingo watches them worm away.
“Like that?” he asks. Akari blinks, confused, her eyes following his gesture out into the field. There’s a brief pause, where the air seems to still around them, not by nature of the wind stopping, but as if time itself had begun to bend. Akari takes in a sharp, short breath.
“Yes,” she gasps. Then she grabs Ingo’s wrist, and tugs.
It takes a moment, far longer than Akari yanking him forward, for Ingo to get his feet properly under him. He stumbles down the hill, towed by the child in front of him. This sudden burst of energy seems to travel through them like a rogue static shock, bouncing up his held arm and through his chest, giving him enough startle forward, matching Akari’s pace before she can latch onto him again.
He balances himself as they reach the bottom of the hill, straightening his hat and coat as they wade through the ankle-deep grass. Ingo’s frown only deepens in concern as they continue toward the mirage of light in front of them, still a distance off despite the gap Akari is trying to rapidly close. He feels the air catch in his lungs as he tries his best to keep up.
“What is a time dilation, Akari?”
She throws her voice back at him, trying to catch her breath.
“It’s like—time changes in this one area, and pokemon like you’ve never seen flock to it. Like they were pulled out of some other place. Just like—”
Just like us.
Ingo stumbles, hand clasping Akari’s shoulder as he rightens.
“Right,” he murmurs.
Up close, the distortion of the ground around the purple-white swirls of air seems to come in and out of focus. He can’t see past the field’s reflective surface, but the air feels heavy, like liquid, like water, when he tries to press his hand through. Next to him, Akari takes his hand.
“I thought, maybe…” she starts, looking at him. Ingo swallows. “But maybe it’s a stupid idea.”
“You think it might jog my memory, right?”
Akari blinks, stammering:
“Or, maybe, like, maybe, at least, maybe fill in some gaps! Not… not necessarily fix anything. Just maybe make something… clearer. Like stilling the water, y’know?”
Ingo sighs, smiling ever so. It’s honestly not a bad idea.
As he presses through the glassy surface, Akari at his hip, it gives to a churning sensation through his stomach and a lightheadedness in his head. He stumbles as they righten on solid, hazy ground.
The air around them feels much thicker than it is. Akari was right—the field ahead of them is full of pokemon from outside of Hisui—shapes Ingo barely recognizes, and some that aren’t familiar at all. The ground is littered in shards of pottery, or glass, all smooth and colorful as they crouch behind a sizeable rock outcrop. Ingo feels… mostly himself, as of current, but there’s something on the edge of his mind that tugs, that he can’t quite place. He frowns against it, and Akari gives his shoulder a nudge.
“Anything?” she asks. He hums quietly.
“I don’t know.”
She hums back.
“Okay—keep chasing that feeling,” she says, straightening. She peers around the side of the rock, eyeing the field ahead of her. Ingo blinks, startled all at once by Akari’s sudden movement.
“Wait—”
Before he can grab onto Akari’s sleeve, she bolts from beside him, and, at the same time, Ingo feels a sudden, violent wave of nausea pass over him. The world swims hazy grey, like the stone behind him, except the stone is gone, and the floor is solid under his back instead, and the floor is floor, not soft field grass. And light is bright, but not sun-bright, and certainly not the purpled fuzz of daylight through the dilation. Fluorescent bright. He tries to stand, but his strength escapes him, pain finding purchase at the base of his skull. There’s a voice calling out to him, far from his reach, far from the lungs that try unsuccessfully to breathe air and call back out. He tries anyway, even as the memory of a place he should know blurs at the edges.
Maybe he’s not lying down on the floor. Maybe he’s moving. Maybe he’s rocking, synced in time with the motion of the floor under him. Maybe he’s upright, sitting, standing, but the world around him looks like it’s through foggy glass. Like a dream he can’t quite hold onto properly, like an event misremembered. He tries to grab at the semblance of anything, of the memory he’s being forced to recollect, and it tastes so familiar. But it’s so far away.
He can’t remember any of the faces he’s trying to see, even this close. Even the one he’s supposed to remember. The one he knows is like his own.
Ingo forces his legs under him, even as the world bends. The edges of memory become the concrete sensations of rock and grass and the sound of Akari’s delight. And the violent spin of Ingo’s head as he stands upright.
The mirage flickers around him and through him as he stumbles backward out of the dome. As his feet hit the solid, familiar earth of the field behind them, Ingo collapses.

How many wips do you have, boss? Either art or writing or both
Tons. Tons and tons and tons!!!! I blame my hand issues from the last year and a half for starting so many canvases that I couldn’t finish.
I have WIP Wednesday tomorrow for fics, so I suppose I’ll share one of my art WIPs ^^ (and its accompanying concept cause it’s been nagging at me a lot again lately haha)
KYUREM INGO
This is really a big Nothing concept that’s been nagging at me since last year — I’ve seen so many cool interpretations from the submas fandom about which unovan dragon matches which twin. Reshiram and Zekrom, Ingo and Emmet — but my favorite out of the trio is Kyurem!!! And I am very very biased towards Warden Ingo, so I sort of just connected the two of them together when I saw a lot of dragon/twin connection content.
Warden Ingo is an empty husk of who he once was ever since he was separated from his life, and from Emmet. Drayden’s legend of Kyurem implies Kyurem is the husk of what was left after Reshiram and Zekrom separated.
Hisui is not Ingo’s world; he does not belong there. Another legend from the games says that Kyurem is an alien to this world, having landed from the sky and come somewhere unknown.
Warden Ingo’s clothing is damaged, an extension of himself. Kyurem’s asymmetry with its shorter right side visualizes damage.
Ingo’s memories and who he was as a person leaked out of his mind, but he’s trying his best to regain them. Kyurem’s power is constantly leaking out of its body and it makes efforts to hold it in with ice.
ICE. this one is headcanon-y but I associate Warden Ingo with ice and the cold, probably because of the Pearl clan and its location in the Icelands.
Again, it’s a nothing concept. It’s not an AU because I wouldn’t know what to do with it and I’m not really inclined to. It’s just nothing — it’s a concept in my mind that just floats there because I heavily associate the two with each other as parallels and think about it a lot. And it’s something I have fun drawing just for fun. I even have much rougher WIPs of different designs just mashing Kyurem and Warden Ingo together for fun too, I just felt this one was the most presentable haha.
TLDR: So many WIPs. SO MANY WIPS!!! This concept alone has a ton of scribbles and thoughts that just aren’t really prevalent at all but maybe I’ll share more someday haha.
#wayward’s asks#I have 16 fic wips (I count chapters individually)#and I don’t think I can count all the art WIPs I have it’s easily over 20#submas#ingo#warden ingo#kyurem#pokemon legends arceus#pokemon legends#pokemon#PLA#waywardstationart

I know some people pointed this out already but I’ve got to say something about it, too. What he says makes me think that he’s got a hard time trusting others. Like he thinks everyone is bad and only think about themselves. Maybe that’s why in the game it never really seemed like Volo was close to anyone. Not even Cogita. Makes me wonder what happened to him to make him think this way. Someone obviously hurt him, and he feels like he can only rely on himself. He wishes for a better world. One free of pain and sorrow. Something hurt him enough to make him feel like he had to go to the extremes of opening the space-time rift which eventually lead to the events of pla. He views the world in such a negative light, that he feels like the only way to make it better is by erasing it all and starting over. It’s kinda sad to think Volo was hurt that much :(

So I adore your hospital reunion comic, and it does end on a good wholesome note. But I had a thought and I just have to say.
What're Ingo's thoughts on the whole matter? Like after the initial reunion and high emotions are over, he would have time to process everything.
How he essentially just up and vanished from Hisui. No warning. No final goodbye. It was just a Tuesday that got worse to better.
Did he even want to leave Hisui? Like yeah sure, he's with his brother, but he built a life in Hisui in the short amount of time he had there. And he never got a choice in the matter.
Not too mention that everyone and everything old is dead now.
He would surely miss Lady Sneasler, Irida, the Pearl Clan, (not) Melli, etc.
Uhhh ramble over.
Oh last thing : does he have his Pokemon with him? In the future I mean. Like yeah he didn't use em against the Luxray, but maybe they were all just fainted. Or he didn't use them in his panic.
Enough from me, have a good whatever-your-timezone-is and holiday :)
(in reference to this comic) yeahhh. yeah you get it @happyrunawayangel
Tysm for your ask!! You hit the nail on the head lol. while Ingo is overjoyed to have his memories return, obviously there is a lot of unsaid goodbyes and harsh realizations Ingo would have to cope with. Being torn from one timeline to another yet again leaves him with a lot of anger and depression; this time he at least has his memories of his time in Hisui, for better or for worse.
Technically, he’s now the last surviving member of the Pearl clan, which is ironic given that he’s an outsider. And yeah the extinction of the Hisuian Sneasler line would hit him pretty hard :(
And yes he does have his Hisui team- they were all fainted from a previous run in with an alpha that day; but he at least has them with him in Nimbasa now.
#thanks again for all the kind words!!#so sorry it took me so long to answer this#long story short I got sick again TwT#would love to explore these themes more but yeah comics are hard work… maybe if I ever get around to it I could make a fic 🤔#not necessarily tied to the comic but in general post-reunion vibes#submas#myart#pokemon ingo#pokemon emmet#pokemon legends arceus#warden ingo#subway boss emmet#submas angst#submas fanart#pokemon#asks#happyrunawayangel

You hadn’t realized how close you had been standing to your Pokemon. It was a bad habit, really. You usually stood close enough to the battle that you could feel the heat of the flames and taste the earth that was kicked up around you. Normally in battle, these attacks weren’t aimed at you, so you could walk away relatively unscathed. Maybe it was bad luck. Maybe he meant to do it. You’d never find out.
“GIRATINA, STRIKE THEM DOWN!” There was a brief flash, and then nothing.
Volo laughed when he saw you fall. Even the Chosen of Arceus couldn’t stop him. The world would be remade. He walked forward proudly, expecting to give you some quip before taking the plates from your hands as you watched helplessly. Giratina watched from behind, savoring this moment. Arceus would pay a thousand times over for the past eons. The small mortal on the ground before him was the last obstacle, and they had fallen in one strike.
“Well, my favorite customer, time to admit defeat. Hand over the plates.” Volo smiled, stretching his hand out to accept. When you didn’t move, he simply rolled his eyes.
“Come now! No need to pout. Hand. Them. Over.”
Nothing. His tone turned icy.
“Get up.”
Still nothing.
“Damn it! Why do you insist on making this difficult!” He reached for your arm, intending to drag you into a standing position. When he touched the skin, he jolted backwards. Why was it wet? He looked at his hand, wondering for a moment at the deep red now coating his palm. Oh. OH.
He fell to his knees, trying to assess how bad the damage was. He hadn’t meant for this to happen! Sure, sacrifices needed to be made to ensure his vision succeeded, but not this. Despite his hidden motivations, he had actually enjoyed spending time with you collecting the plates. It was truly a tragedy that Arceus had sent you to stop him, but in the back of his mind, he had planned to keep you. Maybe as a trophy. Maybe as a friend. He hadn’t decided.
Giratina had certainly done a number on you. Half of your hair had been singed, while the other half was damp and matted to your head. Blood dribbled out of your nose and mouth, and he was pretty sure he could feel shards of your ribs move when he tried to reposition you into a lying position.
He could feel Giratina’s presence behind him. A dark shadow, silently waiting, if growing a bit impatient. Volo could feel the annoyance. “What’s the holdup?” it seemed to say. He knew he should be celebrating right now. He knew he should be snatching the plates out of your bag and leaving you for the Galaxy Team to recover.
“They’re dead.” He whispered, “You killed them.”
The bastard god stood silently. The empty mountain air echoed Volo’s words back to him. Over and over, fainter each time. You killed them.
Shakily, he reached for your satchel. Even through the fabric, he could feel the plates inside, their dull divine energy stinging the tips of his fingers. He took a breath.
This was merely a minor setback. The world would soon be his to rule. He could make a thousand of you with Arceus’ power. Why was he so upset?
Slowly, he opened the bag. He saw the plates sitting inside, arranged neatly between Pokeballs and assorted berries. It almost looked like a platter, designed just for him.
Then, there was a flash of white and red, and the bag was snatched from his hands.

Submas Headcanons: Ingo in Hisui
As promised, here are some headcanons about Ingo's life in Hisui. I am working on a Submas reunion fan fic which will go into greater detail on what Ingo experienced after being sent back in time, but I thought I'd compile some of the stuff that I'm not planning to cover in that fan fic.
Most of these ended up being about Ingo's relationship with Gligar.
When Ingo first arrived in Hisui, he was discovered unconscious in the Coronet Highlands by a Pearl Clan sentry named Jiro and his Pokémon, a Gligar.
Pictured here.
Jiro was kind of a greenhorn and initially panicked when he saw an unconscious stranger wearing clothes he'd never seen before. He didn't want to try to move Ingo by himself, but he also didn't want to leave him there with wild Pokémon roaming around and where he could get exposure.
He ended up ordering Gligar to watch Ingo while he went to get help.
Unfortunately, Jiro had never really gotten the hang of training Gligar and when he came back with another sentry, they found Ingo gone and Gligar munching on berries from a nearby tree. Ingo had, in fact, gotten up and wandered away aimlessly while Gligar was distracted.
The sentries were eventually able to make contact with Calaba, who was able to use Ursaluna to track Ingo down.
By the time Calaba and Ursaluna caught up with Ingo, several hours had passed. Ingo was exhausted, scared, and confused. He was dismayed when Calaba asked him who he was and where he had come from. He had been hoping that the first person he saw would be able to explain those things to him.
After spending the night in the Coronet Highlands, Calaba and the others brought Ingo to the Pearl Clan Settlement in the Alabaster Icelands so that Irida could decide what to do with him.
The clan had a meeting to discuss what to do. Ingo was not invited to this meeting. In his amnesiac state, he was helpless as a child and quietly waited for the clan to decide his fate. Calaba, in particular, was in favor of dropping him off with the Galaxy Team's newly established settlement. They were always doing strange things and wore strange clothes. Ingo was probably one of them.
But Ingo had already claimed no familiarity with the Galaxy Team, and Irida didn't feel right about Ingo being passed from faction to faction like an unwanted stray. She decided that Ingo would stay with the Pearl Clan until they could determine where he had come from.
Ingo was grateful to the clan for allowing him to stay, but at first, he was frustrating to have around. He had no idea how to survive in Hisui and had to be taught how to do everything. Gaeric, in particular, was amused by how "scrawny" he was.
The one who gave Ingo the most difficulty at first was Calaba. Soon after Ingo was told he could stay, Calaba pulled Ingo aside and basically told him that he owed his presence here to Irida because if Calaba had her way, Ingo would be on his way to the Galaxy Team.
Ingo took those words to heart and worked hard to prove himself worthy of Irida's compassion.
However, what Ingo quickly came to realize is that while he was hopelessly inept with physical chores, such as harvesting crops or chopping firewood, his knowledge of Pokémon surpassed anyone else in the clan. He was able to name most of the Pokémon species he saw on sight, and his intuition about their behavior was usually more accurate than even that of the clan elders.
Ingo was an especially great help to Jiro, who had never managed to really train his Gligar.
Jiro had hatched Gligar from an egg. He had come upon a pack of Sneasel raiding the nest of another Pokémon while patrolling the Coronet Highlands. The Sneasel scattered when they saw him approaching, leaving only one egg left.
Jiro felt bad about leaving the egg out in the cold by itself, so he picked it up and started carrying it with him everywhere. It eventually hatched into Gligar.
Nobody else in the Pearl Clan really liked Gligar. Its stinger, pincers, and grin creeped them out, and it was constantly getting into their food stores. Many wished Jiro had simply left that egg in the wilderness.
But Ingo was able to give Jiro advice on disciplining Gligar. Ingo taught Jiro how to discourage poor behavior with a firm tone of voice and reinforce positive behavior with treats and praise. In particular, they discovered that Gligar really enjoyed Mushroom Cakes, and using them as treats was highly effective.
Jiro was impressed with Ingo's guidance and gushed with praise for Ingo's knack with Pokémon to anyone who would listen.
However, Jiro and Ingo's friendship was destined to be short-lived. One day, Jiro had a fatal encounter with an Alpha Rhydon in the Coronet Highlands. Gligar survived, but he did not.
There were no human witnesses to Jiro's death. The only other living soul who saw what happened was Sneasler.
Now, at this time, Sneasler didn't have a warden. Her previous warden had been a close friend and peer of Calaba. Sneasler's warden often used to joke that she wasn't as young as she used to be and ought to think about retiring soon. Keep in mind that she was around the same age as Calaba and thus in her late 90s.
One morning, she simply didn't wake up. She had passed away in her sleep.
Since then, Sneasler has had no official warden. Various sentries of the Pearl Clan took turns feeding Sneasler in shifts. Several candidates for the wardenship had been sent Sneasler's way, but Sneasler had rejected all of them. Like Calaba, Sneasler was not over her warden's death.
Sneasler saw the Rhydon attacking Jiro but wasn't able to get there in time to save him. After driving Rhydon off, she picked up Jiro's body and carried it back to the Alabaster Icelands.
The entire clan mourned, Ingo not least of all. Jiro had been his friend and the man who found him in the first place. He felt he owed his life to Jiro and was devastated he would never be able to repay that debt.
But the one who seemed to be the most heartbroken was Gligar. Gligar had followed Jiro's body all the way back to the Icelands, and spent much of its time whimpering in Jiro's hut.
There were some in the clan who hoped that Gligar would leave once Jiro had been buried, but Ingo realized that Gligar had spent its whole life around humans and wouldn't know how to survive in the wild.
Ingo began leaving out food for Gligar. In time, Gligar started following Ingo around just as he'd followed Jiro.
Gligar was especially needy during this time, always climbing onto Ingo's shoulder or into his lap, wanting to be petted. Ingo tolerated all these cries for attention with patience.
One night, he remarked to Gligar that as miserable as it felt, in a strange way, he envied Gligar in its grief. Gligar, at least, knew what it had lost.
Once in a while, a merchant from the Gingko Guild would stop by the Pearl Clan Settlement to sell their wares.
On one occasion, after Gligar had started living with Ingo, Ingo looked over what the guild member was selling and was astonished to recognize Poké Balls among his wares.
The Ginkgo Guild member apologized. He actually hadn't meant to display the Poké Balls, since members of both clans tended to be deeply offended at the sight of them. The merchant was astonished when Ingo offered to buy 10 of them.
Ingo showed one of the Poké Balls to Gligar. Gligar didn't know what it was and tried to eat it, so Ingo had to wrench it out of his mouth.
Once Gligar had come to understand that it was not food, Ingo gently explained that this device was called a Poké Ball, and it would allow the two of them to stay together. He urged Gligar not to be scared and tossed it.
The catch was successful on the first try, but Gligar was alarmed when Ingo called it back out again and panicked slightly. However, it quickly grew accustomed to the ball and even responded happily if Ingo pulled it out after a long day. Gligar came to see the Poké Ball as a place of refuge, a hidey hole just for it.
Naturally, the rest of the Pearl Clan was put off by Ingo embracing Poké Balls. Even Irida wasn't pleased. But, the clan did have to admit that if Gligar was in the ball, it was much less likely to get into their food stores.
The clan was even more astonished when Ingo used his cache of Poké Balls to catch a Machop. In no time at all, he had the Machop chopping firewood and carrying it back much more easily and efficiently than Ingo himself ever could.
The clan still didn't like the Poké Balls, but Ingo’s command of Machop quickly made him an asset. People were always asking him for Machop's help with chores. Can Machop carry this? Can Machop break that?
Machop, and Ingo, were only too happy to oblige.
Ingo began spending more time out in the wilderness, taking on Jiro's old patrol duties. He felt much more at ease out in the wild with the Pokémon than back at the settlement.
One day, he came across Sneasler, who was acting not at all like her usual self. She'd been downcast ever since Jiro died, and Ingo found her sitting on a rock, starting down at the ground.
Ingo approached her cautiously, but she allowed him to get near. He could guess at what was bothering her and comforted her, saying that Jiro's death was not her fault. Furthermore, he was certain that the clan was grateful to her for bringing his body back for a proper burial. He told her that she was a valuable member of the clan and pet her on the head. Sneasler let him.
Another sentry from the Pearl Clan saw this interaction at a distance and reported back to Irida. Both the sentry and Irida were astonished that Sneasler had allowed someone to pet her.
Sneasler had been prickly ever since her warden died, avoiding and snapping at clan members who came near her, refusing food, showing her teeth. Even Calaba couldn't calm her.
Sneasler even had a history of being mean to Ingo. Once, when Jiro was still alive, Ingo had accompanied him when it was his turn to feed Sneasler. When Ingo saw how uncooperative Sneasler was being, he scolded her, saying it wasn't right for her to be so contentious with Jiro when he was just trying to take care of her.
Sneasler had responded by swiping Ingo's cap and running off with it. Gligar had to chase her down to get it back, as Ingo was completely incapable of keeping up with her.
But now she had not only allowed Ingo to approach her but actually pet her. Ingo was not only some kind of Pokémon savant but he had actually managed to reach her when everyone else had failed.
This got Irida's brain churning...
