would it be confusing if i changed my tumblr username? as in i'm not changing my legal name, and i'm still going by crimson online. just no longer pillowbugs.

asking because my ao3 is already a completely different name and i use piaochong for a lot of my other fandom stuff. so it'd be nice to change it, if only for consistency. idk just feels like an itch that i'm very worried to scratch.

tbh I kinda had an idea and ran with it mostly... but the flowers in the background are bluebells! Yes, I chose them for their meaning :)

The quotes from Cheren are arguably my favourite thing to scroll through because even if I don't have the game in front of me, I can see how he changes from the start of the first game (i.e. from Route 5 where the bottom text quote is from) to the second BW game!! Maybe because I see my younger self in him too?

Eirika and Ephraim, with outfits based on Zekrom and Reshiram - twins with twin dragons. One an idealist who wields the storm, the other a pragmatist who carries the flame.

This particular idea has been in my mind for the longest time, was pretty much the starting point for the series, and now I'm finally confident enough in my art to actually post it. (<- will look back on this in 6 months and have regrets)

Why Reshiram + Zekrom?

(i.e. why not Solgaleo + Lunala?)

Zekrom and Reshiram's backstory, as told in Pokémon Black & White, is that they were once one dragon, who assisted a pair of twins, before splitting into half when the twins turned on each other.

Zekrom, a thunder dragon, sided with the younger twin, who believed in ideals. Reshiram, a fire dragon, sided with the elder twin, who believed in truth. Sounds familiar?

Zekrom and Reshiram, in general, are based off the Taoist concepts of Yin and Yang. The (specifically Simplified) Chinese characters, 阴 yīn and 阳 yáng, have the 月 (moon) and 日 (sun) components respectively - hence it can be argued that the lunar / solar duality is still present.

General

Decided to stick to a colour palette of red / blue / black / white for both twins - all colours present on both dragons.

Both have gloves of the opposite colour - the 'opposing spot' within their outfit ensemble.

Ironically, Eirika is usually the one wearing red (and more white), and Ephraim is usually the one wearing blue (and the only one to wear black). They switched colours for the sake of thematic coherence.

In addition, they also switched the style of their shirts, because Zekrom has 2 lines on its belly while Reshiram has one centre part in its feathers (fur?).

The bracelets are still there, albeit on the arms facing away. There's a mini sun and moon hanging off their sleeves as well.

Both capes are pinned at the right shoulder. Asymmetry is fun.

Eirika's sword is pointing up, Ephraim's spear is pointing down. Might've been influenced by the Subway Bosses, also a pair of twins, also from BW, also wears black and white with red and blue as common colours...

Eirika

A more futuristic, sharp look, as Zekrom (and Pokémon Black) also has a more modern / futuristic aesthetic, with the Pokémon representing a hope for the future.

The hilt of her sword is meant to resemble Zekrom's tail.

Both twins' helmets are inspired by her Brave outfit in FEH.

Ephraim

While this design is based on his usual clothing, which is very much European-inspired, the helmet plumes have some resemblance to traditional pheasant-feathered caps used by military officials (though TBH my thought process was actually Chinese opera, which uses feathers to denote warrior characters.)

In addition, his spear is more similar to a 枪 qiāng (Chinese spear), with the red tassel and leaf-like blade (in turn meant to resemble Reshiram's tail).
