Arthur paused in his whittling to listen. Catarina. They did sound similar in ways. A warm smile grew on his face at Samhain’s nervous chuckle.

“I won’t tell her you said she’s scary sometimes,” he promised, his amusement clear despite his feigned seriousness. “Though I think she’d take it as a compliment.” He knew the innkeeper well.

He brushed the wood shavings off the half-finished bear carving in his hands, his tone softer and more sincere as he went on. “She’d be glad to hear you think she’d make a good teacher, though. She worries about that. And you’re right, that she really does care about you a lot, even if she tries to hide it.” The woodsman smiled at Samhain again. “Sounds like she and your mentor might get along.”

hugh tended to eavesdrop. a bad habit, perhaps, but some conversations simply carried such an air of mystery and intrigue that he couldn’t help listening in. he savored peculiar stories just as much as peculiar items. in this case, the other appeared to be talking to himself, which only interested hugh more.

his head tilted to hear the stranger’s words over the birdsong and less intriguing chatter in the park, the birdwatching guidebook in his hands forgotten. and… a puzzled hum escaped him before he could stifle it, a clear response to something the other had said.

i didn’t realize you could hear me. hugh’s eyes widened guiltily. “ah— sorry.” he cleared his throat and shifted on the bench, uncomfortable. “i, um… i didn’t mean to eavesdrop. it just— seems like you’ve got a lot on your mind, you know, and i wondered if i might— that is, i wondered if i could help you in some way.” nervous rambling. curiosity got the better of him as he tentatively added, “can i? help you?”

The knock at the door had interrupted Meredith’s baking. She needed several seconds to tidy herself enough to answer, and she opened the door still wearing an apron and wiping flour from her hands with a towel. A warm smell wafted past her from the lighthouse kitchen: freshly-made blueberry muffins.

Though her face was flushed from hurrying to the door, Meredith showed no sign of resentment at his arrival. She gave him a reassuring smile. “No need to apologize, dear. You’re not a bother at all. How can I help you?” Her smile faltered as she got a better look at him; worry flickered in her eyes. “Are you alright?”

ok so spock/kirk is like. the oldest ship ever, okay? they invented slash fiction. these guys pioneered fandom as we know it today

in the last movies they made with those original characters, they were separated into like. alternate universes. okay. these guys were never gonna see each other again and it was very sad and tragic and the fans were kinda sad about it but it is what it is.

then. they made a short film. right. like 8 minutes long. of kirk reuniting with spock. on spocks deathbed. and kirk holds his hand, and they look off into the sunset together.

they got to be reunited. they got to be together in the end. they got their romantic ending i swear to god im losing it.

if it helps. imagine if in 50 years time, they released an 8 minute video of old man dean winchester going to the empty and saving castiel and then they sat on the hood of the impala holding hands and watching the sun set. thats what its like. you see how insane that is??? do you get it???
