Bruce: What’s the most awkward experience you’ve had with a partner?

Kate: Oh, it would have to be the time I climbed out of a window after sleeping with a woman who had terrible b.o..

Bruce (intrigued): Care to elaborate? That doesn't exactly paint you in a flattering light.

Kate: Okay, hear me out... She reeked. From her hair to her skin to her clothes, everything was just rancid. Her pet ferret smelled better! But, to be fair, she was really attractive, and she took me to see Six.

Bruce: And what kind of seats did she get?

Kate (sighing and closing her eyes): Box seats, right by the stage.

Bruce: I get that, but surely the smell had to ruin the experience.

Kate: Look, I served in the army; I thought I could handle it. Plus, she was really hot. I held my breath for most of it. I managed to stick it out for about seven minutes before I ducked out while she was asleep. Thankfully, I hadn’t brought much with me, and I never called her again.

Bruce: So, you ghosted her because she smelled so bad?

Kate: Have you ever smelled durian?

Bruce (grimacing): Yes, unfortunately.

Kate: Yeah, it was that level of bad. I tried to make it work; she was sweet, but man, that body odor was something else.

Bruce (sarcastically): Thank goodness the military prepared you for situations like that.

Kate: Exactly! Now it’s your turn, cuzzo.

Bruce (hesitant): Well… it wasn’t my finest moment with Vicki Vale.

Kate (intrigued): Oh, do tell.

Bruce: So, Vicki and I were in a… compromising position in her bedroom, and the clams we had for dinner were not sitting well in my stomach.

Bruce (ashamed): I literally ran out while she was reaching her peak. I told her I couldn’t go on, and then I cut off all contact.

Kate (laughing): That’s worse than my experience! Clams are always a gamble.

Kate shook her head, still chuckling at her cousin’s misfortune.

Bruce: Can you not mock me? Vicki still hates me to this day.

Kate: You didn’t even let her finish! You left her hanging in more ways than one.

Bruce groaned, covering his face in embarrassment.

Kate (chiding): Honestly, you would have been better off saying you were Batman and the Bat-Signal went off.

Bruce: I actually thought about it! I was genuinely debating whether to risk revealing my identity or make her feel inadequate. Anyway, she ended up cursing me out a few weeks later.

Kate (crossing her arms): You were weighing those two options instead of just using her bathroom?

Bruce: I know how it sounds, but you just don’t do that in someone else’s bathroom when you’re hooking up on the third date.

Kate: So, the 'Master Detective' is not quite the master of romance, then?

Bruce: Clearly not.

Kate: Welcome to the club. Also, these stories remain secret between us.

Jason has a small fluffy black cat with protruding fangs and stubby legs.

She's called Muffins and he found her in Crime Alley being harassed by some loser teens that don't know how to act, preparing to throw some water balloons st the cat for some cheap laughs. He didn't hurt the teens, he didn't need to- a 6'3 build like a fridge man with a familiar red helmet doesn't really need to do much besides stand there to get others to scurry off and that's exactly what happened.

Truthfully, when they scampered off, Jason was gonna leave it at that- he has other things to be worrying about..until he looked closer at the little cat and she's just sitting there, fluffed up and scared- staring at him, covered in crumbs and dirt, fur all matted and wet..and Jason takes a few minutes to argue with himself. He can't take her in, he cant--

But even still..he's crouching down..cooing and beckoning for it to get closer, he expects it to run off like the teens or even hiss at him cuz he doesn't really give off an aura of 'comfort' but instead..the cat inches closer, small pink nose twitching and moving..before it's small head bumped against his fingers..well he'd be an absolute monster to not take her in right then and there, so thats exactly what he did.

So now Jason Todd aka Redhood, known crime lord and occasional partner to Batman and co..has been spotted frequently with a tiny little black cat on his shoulders wearing a red collar and make shift red cat helmet.

Sorry to be obssessed about this but it's haunting me : what i learnt from yesterday is that a dermatologist saw my skin six years ago, when it was starting to get real red, and told me "you have to hide it" while it could be either rosacea type 2 or lupus. So he just decided he wouldn't help me and let me suffer one of two known and treatable chronic illnesses, one being deadly dangerous if left untreated. And since I got told "you can't do anything about it", I did hide it so well that my doctor was shocked that I didn't tell her sooner. What can you do when you got told by a professional that you're incurable AND that you have to hide your face forever at 24yo. I am beyond gutted and I am just waiting anxiously to rule out lupus but GOD. I feel betrayed and unlucky and so damn angry :(

because i had to (politely) warn/criticize an acquaintance musher who was out on the trail in 86% humidity and 80F weather running their dogs on a rig when i was there today, i thought now was a good reminder that:

dogs do not cool down effectively when it is more humid

dogs that have previously suffered heat stroke are more at risk of developing it again and will do so more easily than a dog who has never had heat stroke. This ALONE is a great risk to sled dogs.

in the northern hemisphere a majority of dog heat stroke incidents take place in July (which is the month I'm writing this).

most mushers do not recommend running dogs in harness over 50F. No your dogs are likely not an exception. All dogs can develop heat stroke.

HERE is a post with a helpful chart from the Australia Sledding Sports Association about how to determine a safe combination of humidity and heat to run in. (it is in Celcius, but the combination of what we walked in today was easily a 26 on this chart.)

Some mushers CAN train dogs during the summer. Those that are in much more arctic conditions where early am may sometimes be frosty this time of year are clear to do so. Although the Mush with P.R.I.D.E. Sled Dog Welfare Guide has some warnings about the risks running dogs in hot weather poses. Their description of heat stroke even mentions snow which, yes, is true. Sled Dogs can easily overheat even in snowy conditions. Even then though, the summer mushers i see (who are in like...the Yukon...) are regularly monitoring temperatures and not running when it is above 50F.

and look. I've been at the receiving end of weather temperature criticism myself. I once ran Sigurd and Zombie on a like...60F degree evening in summer as a novice and my mentor tore me a new one. I felt bad (and cried lol), but it is what it is and i never did it again. It's also why working with and/or seeking advice from sport veterans is important. I will also never stall or refuse to tell somebody they're posing a risk to their dogs, not only bc i care for their animals well beings, but because mushers pushing dogs like this does reflect badly on the sport.

The one thing i do to make sure i'm aware of how hot my dogs may be besides monitoring the temperatures? I overdress whenever i take them out.

Something which caught my attention during my rewatch was this line said by Sara in S2 E4:

She didn't had to bring Wilhelm and Simon in this conversation at all, but she did anyways. Like, it made me think, what if Sara treated Wilhelm and Simon's relationship as a blueprint in approaching August?

Because, as Sara says, she literally saw Wilhelm and Simon's relationship unfold in S1. She was probably the first person to notice them and one of the few people who actually knew how their relationship was (topped by maybe Felice in S2):

And Sara has a tendency of subconsciously copying people and their behaviors, the biggest example is Felice. She tries to dress up like Felice, wears Felice's clips in the exact same way she does, and even becomes a boarder to experience Felice's life. It's not supposed to be malicious or even intentional, it's just something that she craves and tries to replicate subconsciously to fulfill her desires of a upper-class life.

And when August kissed her at the stables in S1 E4, it set the gears in motion in her head. She never would have thought of pursuing August if he hadn't made the first move. For him, it was just a (petty and totally uncalled for) way to get back at Felice, but for Sara, it opened up a new desire, a new possibility in her: to date someone from the upper class. In her head, it's what Felice did, it's what Simon did(although I think she knows that Wilhelm's status doesn't matter to Simon at all).

And it also reminds of a subconscious but competitive sibling behavior of wanting something the other sibling has/had. Maybe you don't even want it or need it in reality, but it won't be a reach if Sara had this thinking of, "Well, Simon got to date someone from the upper class even though he hates them, so why can't I?", which again, doesn't actually have anything to do with Simon himself but it's more like Sara latching onto and projecting her own desires on a person who showed some interest in her, no matter how much far fetched or shallow it was(at least according to her). And in the beginning it was just an attempt to see how dating someone feels like and that too someone from the high society, but then she seriously fell for August.

I took the dogs for a 6am walk today, which is our new daily routine. I feel very okay about walking alone when I have Rollei. I know if something sketchy were to go down he would have my back and he has an intimidating stare. I feel good having him in my yard also. He is an effective protector.
