Something which caught my attention during my rewatch was this line said by Sara in S2 E4:

She didn't had to bring Wilhelm and Simon in this conversation at all, but she did anyways. Like, it made me think, what if Sara treated Wilhelm and Simon's relationship as a blueprint in approaching August?

Because, as Sara says, she literally saw Wilhelm and Simon's relationship unfold in S1. She was probably the first person to notice them and one of the few people who actually knew how their relationship was (topped by maybe Felice in S2):

And Sara has a tendency of subconsciously copying people and their behaviors, the biggest example is Felice. She tries to dress up like Felice, wears Felice's clips in the exact same way she does, and even becomes a boarder to experience Felice's life. It's not supposed to be malicious or even intentional, it's just something that she craves and tries to replicate subconsciously to fulfill her desires of a upper-class life.

And when August kissed her at the stables in S1 E4, it set the gears in motion in her head. She never would have thought of pursuing August if he hadn't made the first move. For him, it was just a (petty and totally uncalled for) way to get back at Felice, but for Sara, it opened up a new desire, a new possibility in her: to date someone from the upper class. In her head, it's what Felice did, it's what Simon did(although I think she knows that Wilhelm's status doesn't matter to Simon at all).

And it also reminds of a subconscious but competitive sibling behavior of wanting something the other sibling has/had. Maybe you don't even want it or need it in reality, but it won't be a reach if Sara had this thinking of, "Well, Simon got to date someone from the upper class even though he hates them, so why can't I?", which again, doesn't actually have anything to do with Simon himself but it's more like Sara latching onto and projecting her own desires on a person who showed some interest in her, no matter how much far fetched or shallow it was(at least according to her). And in the beginning it was just an attempt to see how dating someone feels like and that too someone from the high society, but then she seriously fell for August.

Giyu:

He's honestly a chill gamer and mostly just there to have fun and make friends. But never really chats with anybody unless someone talks to him first.

He duo's with Sabito a lot on games. Whatever games Sabito recommends to play, he'll play it. Sabito mostly carries him in FPS ( first person shooter ) games.

One time Sanemi and Obanai were on the enemy team and they won. He would be confused on why they would curse him out every time in the chat saying he was to 'easy' or that he sucks.

Sanemi:

Plays a lot of video games especially during his childhood. He would share his DS or Gameboy with Genya a lot during their childhood.

Mainly plays FPS games or any combat games. Literally anything competitive.

Mostly duo with Obanai in FPS games. He would curse Giyu out with Obanai anytime they would be on the opposing team.

Tries to play with Genya and he tries his best to not rage but eventually he does either at the game or at Genya. Ironically tells Genya not to play games like that anymore because people in the lobby can be toxic.

Would get in trouble a lot from yelling so much at the game at night.

Obanai:

Has played Overcooked with Mitsuri many times. He does not yell at her at all and is super patient when they do not get any stars on the hard levels. They would plan strategies together on how to defeat a level.

Sometimes plays FPS games but only when Sanemi asks him to get on. Will type mean things in chat with Sanemi whenever he sees Giyu on the opposite team.

Misturi:

Has so much fun playing overcooked with Obanai and they are so close to finishing the game. Would make comments about how if she were to drop food in her restaurant she would not serve it to her customers or how she would love to make a recipe like that in real life.

She would play cooking games like Cooking Mama or Good Pizza, Great Pizza. Would literally give a generous amount of toppings on Good Pizza, Great Pizza and would already have 5 stars in her restaurant.

Plays other games like Episode or The Sims or Just Dance. Would have the cutest family in the coziest home that she made on The Sims. She would also be really good on Just Dance.

She would also play Otome games because men irl suck and Obanai won't confess to her yet.

Tengen:

He would be really good in Osu! or any rhythm game. Has also played Fortnite Festival and has the top score in all his friends lists.

Duo with Rengoku often in FPS games. He would also have a big ego when playing any competitive match. "I'm a god in this game"

Rengoku:

Plays a couple FPS games and duos with Tengen.

Plays with his little brother and helps carry him in any game he needs. Usually just loves to spend time with his little brother and plays whatever game he wants.

Played with Sanemi and Obanai a couple times. Sanemi would yell in the mic and have his ears ringing so Rengoku wouldn't notice how loud he actually talks on the mic until Sanemi yells at him.

Shinobu:

Not the biggest fan of playing video games on her free time.

I don't know why but I think she could have fun playing horror games or likes playing chill games like Stardew Valley.

She tried to play an FPS game and played the role as a healer and never picked up the game ever again.

Muichiro:

Would have a hand me down of a DS or gameboy and have loved video games every since.

Have played a lot of video games and plays a lot of games that are trending.

Right now he plays a lot of Minecraft and Roblox.

Teaches the Kamaboko Squad on how to play. They would have a realm and try to beat the enderdragon together.

Gyomei:

He's blind but I feel like the kids would include him in an game they play. I feel like he would like playing story games where choices matter. He would carefully pick the choices and actions so he can save all the characters.

Dead cabin guy and his technicolor dreamcoat have haunted me since the wardrobe reveal in season two, and today im going to make it everyone's problem.

Travis wears the coat first. He and Natalie take the blessing and go out to look for Javi. Travis hallucinates (prophesies?) that Javi is dead and buried beneath the snow, but Natalie shows him it's only a fox. Travis finds the strange, mossy tree stump. The next day Travis has strong feelings about which direction is best to search for Javi in, and we don't see more of him until Nat reveals the bloody pants. Not that weird, all things considered. New season, new wardrobe additions. Hiking on a caloric deficit with PTSD, you'll probably hallucinate. Pretty standard stuff.

Then Nat wears the coat. She takes it to lay Jackie's bones to rest at the crash site, and while she wears it she sees (hallucinates? prophesies? I'm not sure!) the white moose that they'll later lose to the lake (ergo the hunt, ergo Javi dies for real but more on that later).

We get to Old Wounds, the hunting competition, and Lottie wears the coat now. You see where I'm going with this but just to be thorough: she enters the realm of death dreams, talks with Laura Lee, almost freezes to death.

Episode five. Melissa wears the coat. Maybe that's not important! Maybe it's just to show that they all share the wardrobe, and that the side characters are as equally All In This Together as the main characters are. Or it could mean something that a peripheral character, wearing important wardrobe, framed in antlers (not unlike Travis in 2.01), has the line "maybe he did die, and that's his ghost." It's a little suspicious, and at this point starts to feel like a pattern.

Who wears it next, who wore it best!? That's right baby, it's Paul! For his dreamworld drifter, hallucination hunk Coach Ben Scott. Nicholas Urfe himself. Ben spends almost all of his time in a dream, until *drumroll please* Paul, very pointedly, takes the coat and walks out the door. "Where do you think you are, Ben?" he puts the coat on. "You had to have known you couldn't stay here forever. [...] What matters now is that you aren't welcome here anymore." Following Paul means committing to death (to dream), and until interruption that's the choice Ben makes. Because letting Paul (and the coat) go would mean committing entirely to reality.

Of course, the pièce de résistance is something I didn't even notice until I went looking for it. The first dozen times I watched, I thought that after Lottie's beating Shauna brought her a blanket. "Lottie's cold." But she doesn't. She brings her the coat. Lottie is laying with it when, in a fever dream, she witnesses/hallucinates/prophesies parts of the hunt.

It's there again (on the back of the chair) when she sits by the fire and speaks for the wilderness, appointing Nat their queen. Ben watches, having woken from the dream himself, as they all bow to Natalie and leave reality behind for good.

Of course, there are a lot of times when characters hallucinate strange things in the cabin while not wearing the coat, because they're all starving to death and traumatized. Mari. Shauna. Akilah. But in addition to that, it seems like a pattern worth noting that in each instance where a character wears the technicolor coat, the line between the real and the imagined seems to blur with more ease. Does dead cabin guy's technicolor dreamcoat help the Yellowjackets connect to the dream realm?

I'll be brief here with the biblical parallel: blah blah Joseph is the favorite son (you were always its favorite), his father gives him a technicolor coat (they're nothing special, they don't change color in the cold or anything). blah blah Joseph starts having prophetic dreams etc etc his jealous brothers throw Joseph down a pit (the wilderness chose) and bring his bloodstained coat back as false proof of his death (hanging on a branch. a couple miles back). You get my drift.

Does it mean anything? Who knows. But in a series where wardrobe is such an integral part of the storytelling, it felt worth paying attention to.

In your esteemed opinion, is Mikhail Bulgakov actually a good writer or is he more in the Orwell end of the spectrum: popular for anti-soviet sentiment (despite clear disdain for women and working class) his works are heavy on?

Bulgakov was definitely a talented writer so much so that he was tolerated by Soviet power despite reactionary character of his works and even sometimes was (sort of) defended by such people as Gorky and Stalin (their pet liberal of sorts😅).

Gorky: Bulgakov is not my brother [...] I have not the slightest desire to defend him. But – he is a talented writer, and we don’t have many of those. There is no point in making “martyrs for an idea” out of them. The enemy must either be destroyed or re-educated. In this case, I am for re-education. (Further in the letter Gorky says Bulgakov wants to contact Stalin personally to ask for help with stable employment. Bulgakov later got a place in Moscow Art Theatre).

Stalin: Of course, it is very easy to "criticize" and demand a ban on non-proletarian literature. But the easiest thing cannot be considered the best. The point is not a ban, but step by step to force old and new non-proletarian trash off the stage in a competition, by creating real, interesting, artistic plays of a Soviet character that can replace it. And competition is a big and serious matter, because only in a competitive environment can we achieve the formation and crystallization of our proletarian fiction. As for the play itself, "The Days of the Turbins" (Bulgakov's play), it is not so bad, because it does more good than harm. Do not forget that the main impression left on the viewer by this play is an impression favorable to the Bolsheviks: "if even people like the Turbins are forced to lay down their arms and submit to the will of the people, admitting their cause is finally lost, it means that the Bolsheviks are invincible, nothing can be done with them, the Bolsheviks". "The Days of the Turbins" is a demonstration of the all-crushing power of Bolshevism. Of course, the author is in no way “guilty” of this demonstration. But what does that matter to us?

Bulgakov was heavily censored, called for questioning by authorities multiple times and struggled a lot financially due to his bourgeoise and White sympathies while living in proletarian state. But isn't it the same for communist intellectuals in capitalist countries? So i personally don't cry crocodile tears over his suffering artist lifestory. Bulgakov works were accused of valorizing the Whites by Soviet literary critics (he was universally hated by them) which is true but as Stalin mentioned idealogically it was still net positive for Bolsheviks bc Bulgakovs works were pretty defeatist when it came to Bourgeoise class.

Interesting analysis of Bulgakov in Soviet Literary Encyclopedia released in 1930s: Bulgakov entered literature with the awareness of the death of his class and the need to adapt to a new life. Bulgakov comes to the conclusion: "Everything that happens, always happens as it should and only for the better." This fatalism is an excuse for those who changed milestones. Their rejection of the past is not cowardice and betrayal. It is dictated by the inexorable lessons of history. Reconciliation with the revolution was a betrayal of the perishing class' past. Intelligensia's reconciliation with Bolshevism, which in the past was not only by origin, but also ideologically connected with the defeated classes, the statements of this intelligentsia not only about its loyalty, but also about its readiness to build together with the Bolsheviks - could be interpreted as sycophancy. With the novel "The White Guard" Bulgakov rejected this accusation of the White émigrés and declared: the change of milestones is not a capitulation to the physical winner, but a recognition of the moral superiority of the victors. The novel "The White Guard" for Bulgakov is not only a reconciliation with reality, but also self-justification. A forced reconciliation. Bulgakov came to it through the cruel defeat of his class. Therefore, there is no joy from the knowledge that the bastards have been defeated, no faith in the creativity of the victorious people. This determined his artistic perception of the winner (i.e. Proletariat/USSR/Bolsheviks).

-Tony is a jealous person, so he doesn’t really like how happy Peter is when rambling about you during the lab sessions - blood-related or not, Tony wants the attention on himself. However, he’s able to get a rough picture of you thanks to all the information being thrown at him, and, despite his possessiveness, he is very slightly inclined to like you, even if it’s just due to Peter.

-It wasn’t until Peter was practically begged him to come and watch your dance recital though did he properly meet you. You were sweet, and watching you interact with your brother, who he was already viewing as his own kid, brought up the same parental instincts.

-If you share the same intelligence, he’d offer you a place at Starks Industries as well. It means he can keep you safely in his lab, right to him, and gives him a solid way to bond with you. Plus, as much as he won’t admit to his selfishness, it does keep you dependant on him - after all it’s a sure-fire way to get recommend to a good college, and a future job at SI; you wouldn’t want to go against him if it could mean this much.

-If not or your interests lay outside of tech (e.g. dance), he’ll be a bit disappointed, but otherwise invest in making sure you get the best opportunities through his various networkers and whatever else you need to achieve those dreams.

-He feels out of his depth whenever he tries talking to you about it. Sure, he spent hours educating himself and could probably act like he understands, but he doesn’t like not knowing things, or feeling unsure of himself. It won’t be until you confirm he’s correct or compliment him for knowing so much that he feels more comfortable, practically preening under your gaze (he’ll immediately get flustered if he’s wrong though).

-It’d be a lot easier if he could just talk about the mechanisms of his new suit or impress you with his amazing ideas involving complex physics equations he knows at least Peter would love to hear about.

-Though, if it’s for you, he’d happily sit and watch your every competition. He’d probably record it too, adding it to his ever-growing folder, and brag about how talented his kid you are (he gets irritated if they seem too interested; he doesn’t want anyone stealing you away).

-His biggest form of showing he cares is gift-giving. He can’t give you a new suit or webshooters to win your favour, so it’d be more personalised based on what you like (e.g. a show or hobby). As well as that, he’s giving you a stupid - maybe a bit mean - nickname. It’s in his blood to do so, he won’t apologize (he would. One tear and he’s backpedalling like crazy).

-He’s already gone through the motions of putting trackers and overprotective security measures on Peter, so it’s pretty easy when he does it for you. Obviously he doesn’t need to stress about you getting stabbed in alleyways unlike a certain spider, but his paranoia still remains.

-He likes keeping logs on you - where you are, with who - just in case he needs to swoop in. Since he’s your brother’s boss (and you probably heard all about his habits from Peter before anyways) you probably shrug it off, thinking he’s just trying to keep you safe due to your high-profile connections rather than out of an obsessive need.

-In general, it’d be hard to get away from him or his tendencies. You don’t want to upset Peter (who’s likely still slightly blinded by his hero worship) so you go along with it as well. Even if you do somewhat ignore Tony , he would likely bring it up in a lab session, leading to Peter bringing it up to you, and just making it the same situation as before.

Young drivers

When they first met, they were 10 years old. A karting competition, a usual thing for both of them, they both won a fair amount, both getting used to winning. However when they lost each one of them dealt with it differently. Yes Cecilia had a better car, but that never stopped Max from winning before. 

The race started as normal, as always Cecilia overtook all those in front of her and reached P2, with only Max being in front of her, with practised ease she overtook the boy coming out of nowhere it seemed. The boy frowned and pressed harder his car touching hers, Cecilia felt her car jolt, not knowing Max but knowing how some of the guys liked to race, she started focusing on evading him and out racing him. It was close to the end of the race anyways. Max did try to push her car a few times but everytime she slipped away or he just barely touched her. 

His dad will have his head for this. 

Once the race finished they got out of the car, Cecilia doing the little dance she always did when she won. She saw her dad and her brother cheering for her on the side. Taking off her helmet just as Max was coming up to her, he wanted to see who beat him, she took out her braid from her suit and turned to walk to her family when she saw Max.

Yes, his dad will definitely kill him.

“Nice race.” Cecilia said with a laugh before she slipped away to her family, her dad lifted her up in celebration, she was laughing her heart out, enjoying the moment. While Jos just stared down the family and his son, he walked up to her car inspecting it.

“They either got a sponsor or a whole lot of money.” Jos grunted a disappointed look on his face, Max was hopeful that seeing the car would make his dad not mad or disappointed in him. “But that doesn’t mean you couldn’t have won.”

Shaking his head he left his son and walked away.

Cecilia, Max and Pierre were waiting for the podiums, standing together. Cecilia turned to Max and held out her hand.

“I’m Cecilia.” She had a smile on her face with her white teeth, antagonising Max unknowingly.

“Max..” Said and refused to shake her hand, Pierre rolled his eyes at Max’s antics and shook the girl’s hands so as not to leave her hanging. 

“It’s okay Cece that’s how Max is.” He told her in French, Cecilia shrugged and refused to look at Max for the rest of the day.

The years went on after that and the group of future F1 drivers ran into each other a lot. Nearly no month went by without them running into each other, finding out more about the other, whenever Charles, Max and Cecilia raced together the trio were always close on the track, one of them always won. Giving credit to Cecilia she always tried to be nice to Max, however as they went into their teens he always just ignored her or gave her one worded answers. His dad did not like her at all, he found out about her family and their connections, and he knew it beat his, even if he was an F1 driver at one point.

When Max won a race at 15 and Cecilia came in P2, she did what she always does.

“Congratulations Max, great race.” The female smiled at the now slightly taller male, at one point she was taller than most of the guys but it seemed like her growth slowed with time and theirs picked up pace. 

“Why do you always do that?” Cecilia was both surprised and confused, she had no idea what he was talking about. This is the first time he’s spoken more than two words to her in the past five years they’d raced together. Both of them had done well in their careers getting sponsored and moving up. 

“What do you mean?”

“You always congratulate me and wish me a good race, always happy even if you don’t win.” Max explained his brain can’t comprehend how she just always seemed so happy and content and wishing her rivals good races, he heard her and Charles sharing tips and ideas, helping each other out. It’s something that he found do foreign and unusual, it left him puzzled. 

“Why not? I love racing, being good is besides the point, yes I like it, I love when I win, but I would do it regardless of if I won or not.” The smile on her face fell a little, she too couldn’t understand why this wasn’t something that Max understood, her family valued fair play, they said if you rise then you should rise with the people around you and good competition always made you better, always kept you on your toes. “Besides, if you weren’t good then who would challenge me? I love challenges.”

“That’s stupid, you’re weird.” Max muttered under his breath, but Cecilia heard him loud and clear. All signs of her happiness went out the window, her smile fell off completely. Max was startled by the stark contrast, how her whole demeanour flipt in one second. Her shoulder hit his as she passed him, her arms crossed.

After that day and for the time they raced together, before he went into F1 and she got pregnant, Cecilia never smiled at Max again.

Did it bother him? Yes. she always smiled at all the other guys but never him. He was only 15 but he understood the moment she stopped trying to talk to him what he felt. He had a crush on Cecilia Hansson. The daughter of a swedish billionaire. The up and coming female driver, some people said that she’d soon have a position in F1, just give it a few years. He silently hoped that she did, he hoped she’d make it into F1. He loved racing against her.

She is an enigma.

Before Enies lobby she feels like you wouldn't be saying this if you knew her backstory.

She doesn't blame you, just can't believe it is actually genuine out of insecurity.

After enies lobby, at first she might think you don't again mean it because it might be out of sympathy.

But she realizes quickly that it is truthful.

She genuinely appreciates every compliment you give her after that realization.

Like Nami, she loves when you praise her character because being known as a demon child and evil since the age of 8 does wonders on ones self esteem.

She will still think she is somewhat undeserving, but her confidence and self esteem build up over time.

She will reciprocate any praise back.

When she doesn't actively try to compliment you, the praise is beautiful.

But when she is actively trying, they come off as kind of creepy.

Lets be real. He is the complimentor of the strawhats.

You can't compete where you can't compare.

When you start your complimenting campaign, he takes it as a competition.

If you praise someone, he comesback with two. If you point something out no one else noticed in your crewmate, he actually noticed first because he raised them, taught them to read, and gave birth to them.

You two always get into compliment battles. You say he is cool, well you are not just cool but awesome. If you think he is the best shipwright, well now you are the most SUPER best (crew job) in the world!

You just yell at each other, but instead of insults, it is just nice things. Nami has to threaten you two to shut up.

Yall get stares if you do this in public

You get annoyed with his antics, so you curate a plan to get him to stop.

We all know he can be a bit of a crier(he just has a lot of feelings.)

So you keep track of why he cries everytime, trying to find a pattern.

You find his weakspot.

Well i mean, thats the best way of explaining Zelda dungeons, and thats also the thing that makes me love them, great things

Finding the object of the dungeon is one of the main objetives before anythng else, the majority of cases because without it it is impossible to keep going foward

Also holy shit the cane of Pac's design is so beautiful i love it i've been staring at it for a while now its so beautiful

is Hyrule's special sense for hidden things. Inside his dungeons its more difficult to navigate because of the lack of a map and compass, so he had to learn ways to identify secret rooms and hidden traps

Something that i have learned while playing a lot of the games is that if they give you the map almost at the start it means that the dungeon will be the next thing you will be seeing in your dreams/nightmares (points to snowpeak mansion in tp.)

I saw a lot of people pointing out that Legend at the start was really playfull and then started acting more serious and stressed, mostly towards Wild. He's the one together with Wars that has no experience in dungeons, the rest at least know how to manage by themselves, but Wild is a completly different story. Yeah he had shrines and the Divine Beasts, but compared to a real dungeon, filled with traps and full of monsters, going too confident could put in danger his life. And Legend Does Not want That.

As I already stated, Legend does not want to see one of his brothers get in trouble or injured by a dungeon trap if he can help it. He doesn't want to sound too overprotective or that he's exaggerating a little, but he can't really help it, he almost lost one of his brothers, specifically one of the ones that he's most close with

Wind knows how it feels, he has been in that same situation a lot of times. And Sky knows that too. At least Wild now understands how Wind felt that time that he stepped in front of him to recieve a blow in one of the first chapters

Again, Legend is now on his Vet mode, he's the one with most experience and will do anything on his power to avoid any accidents during their stay in this dungeon

the fact that Legend doesn't seem too amused with Wild's small atempt to calm the ambient shows more what i just said. There is no more room for playfully jokes or goofin around, the situation is more delicated and everyone should act acording to it.

Wars is still a little angry with Wild about his impulsive metods, and inside a dungeon like this he will not let the same situation happend again

Wise it's Good at board games and card games like very good. Like used to be heavy Yu-Gi-Oh Super Fan good (still a Yu-Gi-Oh fan) He doesn't have classic board games either He has a lot of weird board games that you've never heard of before. And he has a whole shelf full of them.

The first thing he does when the two of you open up a board game with a bunch of friends is he will read the rules. And mans reads the rules like he's reading a math textbook an instantly becomes a pro. Then he teaches everyone else at the table.

He loves video games too He has a big ass PC if it's not for work it's for games. However He likes survival or tactical RPG games the best.

He really wants to like horror and he tries really hard but he cannot sit through games with gore or anything involving.

Has been trying to learn D&D recently thinks it would be really cool to host d&d nights at Random Play but decides against it because he doesn't want to deal with the consequences.

(I’m going to make a headcannon version of this and it will be gender neutral)

(Please feel free to replace the female pronouns if needed. I’m mostly going to stick to gender neutral fics, but because I’m so familiar as a dancer as a female, I’m making this a female reader fic.)

“Enjoy the show!” the ticket booth attendedent lady smiling at Veneer, as she handed him the tickets.

“Thank you.” He returned the smile as he walked through the black double doors into a room about as big as a theater. Your boyfriend had purchased two tickets to the dance competition your studio was going to be competing in today, one for himself, the other for his sister Velvet. “Ugh! Do I have to be here?” Velvet exclaimed, throwing her arms around in a over dramatic manner.

“No, you don’t that’s why I’m thankful that you tagged along sis.” Veneer said, now frantically looking for you. He came a bit early in order to see you. There were about 30 other people, stage managers, and a few dancers running around. He looked for you in your costume because he specifically remembered what it looked like when you tried it on.

Veneer pulled out his phone to text you and began typing, only being put to an immediate halt when you came, throwing yourself at him. “Venee!!” You giggled as he immediately caught you in his arms, his smile even wider than before. You were in his warm embrace as your tutu smooshed across his body.

“Heyyy (name).” Veneer stretched out this sentence like he usually does when he greets you. He gave you big kiss and you returned it. Velvet’s loud groan was the only reason you knew she was there to begin with. He put you down and observed your outfit, twirling you around once with his hand. “Where’s your costume babe?” he asked. “Oh, this is the group dance costume. We’re doing ballet this time, hence my tutu. But the one you saw me in was my solo costume.” You replied as veneer nodded, still focusing on your outfit.

“Your still slaying the look though babe.” Veneer said spinning you around once more as you giggled. You were used to having such a sassy boyfriend, which sometimes confused others but who cares, it’s Veneer. Velvet grumbled again and this time you paid attention to her. “Hey Velvet.” You said as she nodded her head in response. Velvet really did have a soft spot for you when it came to her brothers happiness, but dance competitions aren’t really her thing. Especially when she’s not one of the performers. It’s just hard for her to let anyone that’s not her enjoy the spotlight, so you were just thankful that she showed up.

Veneer began to speak again before being interrupted by a loud shriek then sent a shock through his body, nothing he wasn’t used to though being the brother of Velvet. “That sounds like my coach, I better go.” You said before turning around to run back, being stopped by Veneer grabbing you by you wrist. “What your not gonna give me a goodbye kiss?” Veneer said jokingly, but you could tell he was so dead serious. Rolling your eyes playfully you turned back and grabbed Veneer by the chin and pulling him into a kiss. Almost biting your lip in surprise, Veener melted into the kiss. If it weren’t for Velvet sighing loudly (and I mean loudly) you two might’ve went on for hours.

“Thanks Velvet, sorry about that.” You chuckled pulling away. “Yea thanks a lot Velvs.” Veneer said wiping his mouth (unintentionally) with almost a hint of sarcasm behind it. Velvet gave him quick stern look before he fixed the frown on his face. “Alright guys, hopefully I’ll see you in the audience.” “You know you will.” Veneer said finger gunning you. “And thanks again for coming Velvet.” You smiled at her. “Yea yea, no problem.” She replied sternly, but her eyes had softened as she gave a little smile.

More people started to come in so the twins grabbed an up and close seat. Velvet was occupied scrolling through her phone while Veneer was just anxious the whole time. His leg bouncing up and down, waiting and praying that you would do the best you could. He even found a pen in his pocket and started clicking like crazy. “VENEER!” Velvet said after literally point two seconds. “Sorry sis I’m just really nervous.” Veneer dropped the pen immediately. “Lord have mercy, the show hasn’t even started yet.” She rolled her eyes so hard you could see it from the stage if you were standing in it.

So when the competition finally did start you can imagine how anxious Veneer was, and how pissed Velvet was. Veneer kept looking through the program paper to see when your group dance was on. “Two more…two more…” at this point he was just excited and Velvet didn’t feel like bashing him for it, this time.

When your group dance was finally on he once again, frantically searched for you. After a few seconds he spotted you and the rest of the world just seemed to fade away. His eyes were on you and you only. He can feel himself falling in love with you all over again. The rest of the girls weren’t even there, if someone had asked he might’ve said it was a solo. He thinks knows you’re the best dancer on that stage. You stand out to him so much, and he thinks your above the rest of the girls. He thinks your too overlooked by your coaches. You could be the feature in the dance and he still would think you don’t have enough recognition.

Once your dance was over he was upset to see you leave the stage. But he remembered your solo was coming up and he regained hope. Then lost it again when he realized that the competition had to get done with the group dance category.

Veneer had watched, and slouched, and waited patiently through the group dance category until the competition manager announced the solo division. Veneer sat up in his seat because he knew you were one of the first to perform. He waited and waited until the announcers called the name of your dance. You gracefully walked out onto the stage in the costume Veneer had seen you in a while back. He thought you were gorgeous.

And when you started dancing once again, it was just you. His sister wasn’t there, the audience wasn’t there, the judges wern’t there. It was just you and the music. There was a moment in the dance he could’ve sworn you looked over at him and smiled brightly (which you probably did) which put this lovesick look on Veneer’s face. He watched as you turned and leaped (sorry for those that chose hip hop 😭). He could almost name a few of those moves. Even though Veneer could dance he never knew the names of certain moves, so he tried learned them so he could connect with you more. ‘Calypso…pas de chat…a la seconde turns…’ he was almost a pro.

He had been so focused and connected that before he knew it, your solo was over. He made sure to give you a standing ovation clapping loud and shouting your name. Velvet rolled her eyes but made sure to clap just as loud. And a few other people joined in with Veneer.

Soon the results rolled around and Veneer was as anxious as ever. All the teams were sitting out on the stage. He really wanted you to win your solo. He cared about the group dance but not as much as your specific solo. At this competition they announced solos first so Veneer was on cloud nine. When they got to your age division he noticed you tense up a bit. He waited for your eyes to lock with his and he gave you a ‘Don’t worry I know you’ll win this’ look with just his eyes. You smiled a bit and went back to focusing on the judges.

“Third runner up…(____).” The judge called as the girl went to claim her award. You and Veeners legs were bouncing as there were only two more places left and no sign of your name. “Second place goes to…(____)” Now you knew you had either blew it or knocked it out of the park. You waited for them to announce first place as some of the girls held your hand. “First place overall goes to…” Veneer was would’ve exploded if the judge took any longer, “(Name!)” the announcer called as you pumped your fist in the air and went to collect your prize. Veneer almost jumped out of his seat. He was louder than the whole theater combined.

The announcer asked you the name of your studio, as Veneer whooped and hollered. You looked back at him and smiled and you even saw Velvet smiling at you as well.

Your group ended up getting second in the teen group division, but you were still so happy that you had won.

When the competition was over you ran to Veneer with the big trophy in your hand, as he held his arms open to embrace you. “Try not to knock me out with it!” Veneer yelled right before you got to him, and for the record you almost did. “You did so good! You definitely deserved that win more than anyone else here, I don’t care.” He said causing you to laugh. “I don’t know, it was really hard competition today.” You replied. “Well you deserved it.” He said dragging out the last word, that meant he was about to get lovey dovey.

“Yeah that was good (name). Now let’s go now or I’ll never get you two in the car.” She said walking off. Was she a little aggressive? Yes. Was she wrong? No.

At the moment they were at an impasse.
