Shauna doesn't believe in the wilderness, she isnt connected to it like Lottie is, and although It let her survive, It never favored her. Natalie didn't believe in the wilderness either, not really, but she still had a connection. It favored her because of her kindness because she didn't use It to gain power like Shauna or to justify violence like Lottie. She honored their sacrifices like they should've been honored- truthfully and genuinely. It doesn't matter who wears the costume, Natalie was always their queen. She was always It's favorite.

Saying simply “Ben didn’t wanna engage in the cannibalism” doesn’t fully explain it.

Remember Javi? Much younger than the girls and how his death really hit the girls hard because of how young he was? Van saying “we ate a fucking kid”? Killing Javi being shown as the worst of the first winter, the worst they ended up doing?

The girls are eating each other (they’re all more or less the same age) or people who are older (Ben, most likely Hannah later in the show)

If Ben was involved in the cannibalism tho?? He would be eating teenagers. There’s a much bigger age difference between Ben and the girls than there was between the girls and Javi, and with Javi it was already horrible.

Sure, he doesn’t wanna be involved with any cannibalism at all, but we also have to take into account how horrific the act would be to him because of this. He would be eating kids. Kids he spent months (maybe several grades) caring about. If eating Javi (a few years younger) was already a hard blow for the girls, I can’t imagine how it would have been for Ben (32 years old btw) to began eating 17 year olds.

Not only did he want no cannibalism at all, to him the idea of it was probably even MORE revolting because those are children. The girls saw each other as equals so the only problem would be eating their friends (how the girls cried because Mari died and tried to save her). The problem for Ben was, not only eating actual people, but eating children.

everytime nat tries to help ben she gets it wrong. she insists on the trial being two thirds majority, so they have to keep voting and eventually find him guilty. she tries to keep him alive which only puts him through more pain. she mercy kills him and literally the next fucking day people show up that would have rescued them if his fucking head hadn't been on a spike.

i love her so much, she is so fucking kind and so determined to do the right thing and the universe (or the wilderness or whatever) keeps fucking her over so it's no fucking wonder she ends up the way she does.
