IK continuity doesn’t work this way and when things shifted from kooky and silly 40s stuff with psas scattered to like dark brooding whatever we’re supposed to take it as like either time passing with some hand waving to personalities or ‘it was always like this for them trust’ but thinking about dick specifically going from holy galloping grasshoppers Batman to dealing with Bruce in spyral and shit is so so so sad I can’t articulate it well rn but like everyone kinda agrees the shift happened after two face and jason but like no dick saw it all he saw it while it happened he saw Bruce taking tim to baseball games and then gaslighting him at 16 he saw the man who’d take care of a random baby on the fly threaten to send his youngest son back to the league he saw the man who helped usher in a new era of young heroes treat Steph like shit he saw the man who inspired hope for a future in civilians heroes and enemies alike take advantage of cass’ suicidal thoughts and separation from her own humanity he saw everything and he just has to. how do you think the scavengers grieved flywheels' death? do decepticons have different practices for mourning a fallen comrade than autobots, was the scavengers taking parts from him their own way of mourning him, of giving him some sort of a send off? does krok occasionally tell someone to pair off with him when scavenging, before remembering that flywheels isn't there anymore, did misfire save a bit of flywheels' inner most energon for when krok woke up, does spinister ever miss having to fix flywheels after he got stuck midtransformation due to not getting enough space before he lied and something got caught, does crankcase miss having some company when he's piloting the wap, as flywheels was great company, is fulcrum ever haunted by the presence of flywheels and what happened to him because he was the reason the djd showed up on clemency

I love how in Siegfried's SC3 endings you can interpret it either as him finally finding peace on his own (Input ending) or his father's spirit ACTUALLY saves him from the Nightmares and he's able to find peace through that (Non-input ending) and both are equally valid

Six of Crows x Unwind

Kaz vers 1: Parents died before he or Jordie could ever be signed up for unwinding— though their parents would’ve never anyways. However upon meeting Pekka, he was somehow able to sign off on their unwinding forms (having strings he could pull, able to get money for this, etc). They were getting shipped off when Jordie and Kaz tried to escape. Jordie didn’t make it, and sacrificed himself for Kaz to escape, where he was on the run ever since. A few years later, he caught Pekka now having Jordie’s hands.

Kaz Vers 2: (Aka another au outcome of this) His parents did end up signing off on his and Jordie’s unwinding— or even just Kaz’s. Jordie helps him escape and they flee to the city to disappear. However, Pekka was a parts pirate, and he manages to trap them. Kaz is able to get away but Jordie doesn’t. Same outcome as before.

Jesper: He was never signed off to be unwound, of course, but after the loss of his mother and never able to sit still, he was sent to Ketterdam (as before). However he starts to get involved with runaways, and eventually gets mistaken for one anyways. Parts pirates begin to target him, and he loves the thrill of being on the run. So, he joins the ranks of the unwind-runaways, despite never being one himself.

Inej: Once she is kidnapped and taken to Ketterdam, and then further sold to Haleen, she is still made to work for her. However, Haleen has already signed off on Inej’s unwind papers the day they met, and was waiting to submit the papers until Haleen (ugh.) saw fit. However, Kaz knew of this practice and, as in canon, payed off her indenture and her unwind form so it wouldn’t be submitted. Plot twist: eventually Haleen submits it anyways, leading to Inej becoming a runaway as well. Of course, not even parts pirates dare to target her.

Nina: She was actually storked, having gone to house to house. She was passed around until finally she landed at the doorstep of a Ravkan military official. They took her into a home until she was revealed to be a heartrender, where she was then placed into the Ravkan army. She would not be unwound unless she failed to serve Ravka— abandoning or betraying them. This was never an issue to cross her mind until she was kidnapped by Fjerda and thought to be dead. She and Matthias have their storyline, and instead of her accusing Matthias of being a slavor, she accuses him of being a false parts pirate— somebody who takes kids not meant to be unwound and unwinds them. Though in doing so, this reaches Ravka who then fr does sign her unwinding form and she hides in Ketterdam hoping they don’t catch wind of that.

Matthias: Much like the situation with Nina, once he joins the Fjerdan army, he must work hard and prove himself to keep him from being unwound. This, he is able to do, until he is put into Ketterdam prison. While there, they sign his unwinding form for a few months out (they are really backed up, I imagine) until the Crows break him out. He is given the option to be freed from that unwinding form (ruled as a mistake) if he helps them break into the Ice Court. After he does so, and that whole plot happens, Fjerdan still has ability to sign an unwinding form for Matthias. They do so, and he becomes a runaway.

Wylan: The threat of being unwound has always loomed over his head. His own father constantly threatening to sign the form— even going as far as to keep a copy of the signed form framed on Wylan’s wall to remind him that it could be sent out anytime. However, eventually, Van Eck starts to go around and tell people that he was actually raising Wylan to be a tithe instead— something Wylan never found out until too late. He was sent off one day, only to discover that he was actually heading off to his own unwinding. He escaped, much like he did in the books, and flees to Ketterdam under a new name. He learns from the other Crows that nobody had blinked an eye at his disappearance as they all believed he was tithed and unwound. He only becomes a runaway once it’s learned that he is alive by Van Eck, who hires parts pirates to specifically try and capture Wylan to unwind him.

And then he vomits his lungs out and dies before he can reach the water that wouldve also lead to a very horrible death

Uldren just belongs there aberration is his home he can have a little base on those cliff platforms he can just glide around the map with his rock drake and hed have an army of ravagers for absolutely no reason i know you cant tame nameless but hes got one and its just the leader of the army he gets all of his shoulder pets killed because yeah i dont really have a reason for that either it just happens

He spawned in and the first thing he did is wrestle a sheep and mount it like a horse

I already mentioned Jolyon so Jolyons here now too hes his tribemate hed just be like wtf is this guy doing while Uldrens off doing whatever and Jolyons just tryna make them weapons and clothes and stuff then Uldren leads a spino or something over to Jolyon and they both die for the 100th time until they finally actually manage to get shit done and they finally come to have that cliff base and everything

About the shoulder pets theyre all Jolyons shoulder pets he has a lot of them he really loves them and hes all happy. Up until you find out your tribemate got half of them killed and now hes suddenly pregnant with a reaper and Jolyon is like "your what." And hes freaking out and absolutely horrified as is Uldren and they just try to figure shit out then like timeskip one day Jolyon just hears the most painful disgusting gut wrenching scream hes ever heard come from Uldren and then he rushes over to him and Uldrens stomach is just ripped open blood spilling all over the place while this little alien abomination crawls out of him and starts running all over the fucking place and then it charges Jolyon and starts eating his face or something. After all of that Jolyons just like fuck this shit I cant do this anymore and Uldrens just out here struggling to care for this abomination of a child he has but he pulls through hes a little traumatized but he cares about his kid and when he grows up they go on little adventures Jolyon just absolutely wants nothing to do with the reaper tho he got ptsd from seeing all that even tho Uldren is literally the one that birthed it

Dragging Jolyon over to the surface and they both get burned alive the moment they step on it

Uldren and Jolyon have both spent days making a trap and a ballista turret and they knock out tame a karkinos and once its up he convinces Jolyon to mount it with him and then Uldren just fucking murders anything thats near the river just pouding the poor dino on the ground and Jolyon looks heavily concerned about Uldren the whole time he doesnt say anything tho

they can chill and hang out at their base just sitting on a balcony enjoying the view id imagine their base is somewhere where the blue zone is visible because that area is so pretty and yeah they just hang out and sit down and take in the view maybe Jolyons crafting something and Uldrens just talking with him and its peaceful as hell they also prolly hang around those massive trees in the blue zone that just like pop out of the ceiling and into the ground they hang out at the top of em they set up camp start a fire they sit down cook some meat while they lean back onto their rock drake Jolyon could decide to bring his bulbdog and you know lil guys hungry and goes over and eats the hell out of Uldrens meat skewer

Back when I was teaching Japanese college students, I remember escorting some of my students back to their dorms from a burger place one of the other mentors invited them to late at night (he ditched them there and I was mad about it because they didn't know the area well).

While we were walking back, I was expressing my disappointment and saying it was inappropriate for that mentor to invite them out without walking them back since it was late at night and it wasn't a great part of the city, but after a few minutes I apologized to them saying something like "I know most of you are grown adults and I don't want you to think I see you as helpless children, but I do want to make sure you get home safely," and one of them said in the kindest most sincere voice, "We know. You are like a Japanese mother."

And I was just like *voice cracking* "Cool" and walked them the rest of the way back to their dorms, then walked to the bus with my face buried in my hands.
