"There's your birthday gift!" points at the 4 feet tall pile of reports awaiting his attention. "I'd recommend starting on them as soon as you can if you plan to leave this office before tomorrow."
Tumblr media
He blinked at the stack she pointed out, the urge to see what would happen if he just kicked the heap of reports (all most likely newly-minted, Genin, D-ranks if the saccharine smirk coiling at the Kage's mouth was anything to go by) growing by the minute. He shifted on his feet, the fantasy of a paper drizzle, only reeled in by the equally vivid vision of a downpour of miss-matched office furniture following in its wake. He was getting old now, he didn't heal as quickly as he used to, best to avoid that one.
"Maa....just what I always wanted."
His tone couldn't get any more blasé if he tried, dull gaze shifting from the stack of ink and dead trees, to the Godaime.
Tumblr media
"You shouldn't have, Tsunade-sama...........Really."

whats Tsukinos relationship with tsudade ? Is Tsunade even aware she exists ?
Tumblr media
That is a great question, thank you so much for this! ✨
Sadly when Tsunade was born, Tsukino had already left Konoha and was already believed dead by a lot of people. Tsunade only knew about the life of her grand-aunt through the stories her grandfather Hashirama used to tell her.
Which is quite sad actually, because Tsunade and Tsukino both had a similar temperament and passion. Tsunade even learned a lot about Healing through the written journals of Tsukino, where she also found the Byakugou technique, which she individualized for herself.
Only a few people were informed that Tsukino Senju was still alive, but they didn’t made steps to persuade her to come back to Konoha. Those persons were Tobirama himself and his students Hiruzen Sarutobi, Danzo as well as Orochimaru and later Itachi Uchiha.

about the post of Shizune writing smut, i wouldn't be surprised if her novels are popular with the female public, just like fifty shades of gray is.
and Shizune is always on edge because, Tsunade reads her novels and gives looks that send mixed signals, so Shizune is alway in a state of 'does she know?' everytime she sees Tsunade reading one of her novels.
new kind of mutual pining unlocked: tsunade keeps looking at shizune when reading those books not bc she suspects shizune wrote them but bc she imagines doing these things with shizune. (and shizune wrote all those books in the first place with tsunade in mind doing all of this to her. (bc i prefer to imagine shizune as the dom and tsunade as the sub. makes it more interesting imo.))

Hi hello i have bleak!primadonna au brain rot and was wondering if you had though as to what chiyako thinks and what the aburame stance is. And also what tsunade thinks. I may be daydreaming about a “5 conversations naruto has about shikako during his reign and one he had with her right after the execution” fic that i dont think will ever get a single word written for it
Anon! Long response is long, PREPARE YOURSELF!
So here’s the thing anon, I HAVE prepared two routes in which Chiyako’s (and, thus, the Aburame clan’s) opinion on the situation would be discussed—but they’re both extremely circuitous:
Shino (as in canon) is the Academy teacher for the next generation and depending on what the curriculum for Team Seven’s various regime changes is, and how much it would risk including the Nanadaime’s genin team if that led to students inquiring after Her. Then, the scene would be a Shino and Chiyako have a conversation dancing around the topic of Her, as a sort of — today I taught the class about *insert Team Seven regime change here* — and whether or not they agree and if Chiyako, as heiress to the Aburame according to my own headcanons, is making plans for the Aburame to join the ANY clan secession or if they would even let her be heiress if they don’t agree with her stance. Sort of a internal family drama vs external clan politics situation.
Chiyako is the jounin sensei for the attractive!one-year-older!Hyuuga genin that Shikadai has a crush on. Which is way more funny to me as a route because it’s Shikadai, being an adolescent in the proximity of his crush, trying to pay attention to what an adult who is a significant political leader that could affect his own clan’s situation but just absolutely SUFFERING by dint of being an adolescent in the proximity of his crush. HE CAN’T FOCUS HE IS BUT A BOY AND HIS CRUSH IS RIGHT THERE.
All that being said, I think Chiyako as an individual is very firmly in the pro-Shikako camp, but the Aburame clan as a whole are more neutral if not slightly pro-Naruto (but not for the same reasons as other pro-Naruto opinions).
As an individual, I do think Chiyako never really gets rid of her hero worship of Shikako so much as it becomes tempered with time and familiarity and as their age difference becomes less significant they become more like peers than the pedestal-like placement she may have had before. Additionally, I have to imagine that if Chiyako is even SLIGHTLY as protective/feral a sister as Shikako was, then she would ALSO think that Shikako is justified in KILLING THE PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE FOR HER BROTHER’S DEATH. If anything, Chiyako might disagree with how swift and painless the killing was, as opposed to making them suffer, making them WISH for death. Test out the more carnivorous kikaichu strains on them without killing them first, etc. etc.
However, I think as a clan, the Aburame probably think Shikako’s actions were rash (which they were) and ultimately not worth the consequences (which… maybe?) And I know the Aburame being matriarchal is entirely a headcanon and thus has no basis whatsoever but, like, it’s my headcanon so I’m gonna use it: Shikako shouldn’t have risked her position to avenge her brother. She should have become the Nara heir (perhaps she should have been the Nara heiress from the beginning) and from there politically maneuvered things so that she could avenge her brother legally. Or maybe not even bothered with avenging her brother. After all, he’s dead, what use is avenging him? It’s not like that would bring him back. It’s not like she was eliminating an active threat (the councilors would have been just as neutralized whether they were imprisoned or dead.) It’s a sunk cost to avenge him, ESPECIALLY since it cost her her place in the Nara clan (ie, heiress/future head) as well as her position in Konoha as one of the few alternative Hokage candidates/councilors/advisors/etc
Essentially, from their point of view, what she did was the equivalent of a potential queen bee excommunicating herself from her hive just to avenge a fallen worker bee. Unnecessary, irrational, and honestly just an absolute waste.
If she REALLY wanted them dead, then she could have waited and then delegated that to literally anyone else who she had sway over (which is A LOT OF PEOPLE) as opposed to being SO OBVIOUS that she was the one who did it. Like, of course, if those councilors died she would be suspect number one, but at least she could have given herself an alibi or plausible deniability. Although, considering the Hokage’s specialty is “I can make a hundred physical copies of myself” and Shikako managed to make a seal that lets a henge/illusion attach and ground itself on someone who isn’t actively providing it chakra, I don’t know how alibi/murder investigations work in the Naruto world…
And also the Aburame might think killing those councilors is a waste of potential resources, in the sense that—well, maybe not quite as bloodthirsty as Chiyako’s “test out the carnivorous kikaichu on them while they’re still alive”—if they were councilors in Sand, they must be important/valuable to have gotten that position. Whether that is because they are members of Sand’s various clans which may or may not have bloodlimits of their own, or have economic/political clout--though obviously that collective importance/value is less important to Sand than not pissing off Konoha, more specifically the Nara clan, most specifically Shikako. And I’m not necessarily saying the Aburame are proponents of bloodline experimentation (because that’s not their vibe, they care about the breeding of their kikaichu, it’s not just weird MAD SCIENCE) but it could be something like… in a few years, if there’s some kind of trade deal or treaty being made, maybe you trade back one of the councilors for concessions from Sand if they are significant to the negotiation team.
But I think that would be filling out more backstory about throwaway OCs who are dead than they deserve so let’s put a stop to that line there.
Ultimately, I think Chiyako is pro-Shikako internally, but in order to maintain her position as Aburame clan heiress, she adheres to the loyal Konoha shinobi line. That’s not to say she’s not having secret meetings with Chouji and Ino and Kinokawa about having the Aburame possibly join the ANY clans secession—especially since I have to imagine that the Akimichi and Yamanaka have a lucrative business relationship with the Aburame regarding apiaries and crops/flowers and pollination etc etc—but that would have to wait until she is in a firmer position as Aburame clan head, once she’s established herself as powerful enough to protect her clan from any backlash should it come to that.
I HAVE A LOT OF THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS, ANON, SO MANY.
In regards to Tsunade, I did mention her tangentially/briefly in the (fills the void up with celluloid) ficlet: “Had it been the Godaime Hokage—raised with the importance of clan politics, understanding how concessions must be made for peace—there would have been no problem.”
But I suppose if we are differentiating between Chiyako the person versus Chiyako the Aburame clan heiress, we may as well differentiate between Tsunade the person and Tsunade the former Godaime Hokage. Although, I don’t know enough about Shippuden/Boruto to know the timeline of whether or not Tsunade is still alive and through to which point and what she is doing after foisting the hat onto Kakashi. Unlike Neji’s status as alive, I don’t think Shikako would be able to make much difference in Tsunade’s death or not.
Like… it seems like anything that COULD take out Tsunade isn’t something that Shikako could deal with/be in a position to deal with/could affect. But, again, don’t know enough about Shippuden/Boruto to know for sure.
All that being said, if Tsunade IS still alive during the event of the bleak!primadonna AU… I can’t imagine she’s still in Konoha. She did her time as Hokage when the village needed her, but she passed on the hat AND her legendary medical skills, so what else could they possibly need from her? Surely she’s owed a relatively uninterrupted retirement by now.
… I’ve not actually thought further about Tsunade’s personal opinion on the situation, for all that I’ve repeatedly said that in this AU Shikako is pulling a more extreme Tsunade.
Because Tsunade was also a sister who lost her brother, but she turned it into hospital/medical reform instead of revenge murder, and she didn’t leave Konoha until after the war had ended, even though surely it continued on for a while after Dan’s death. And, of course, Tsunade is extremely fond of Naruto. Ugh, not to reduce Tsunade’s opinion into her relationships with various men.
Tsunade is, presumably, the last of the Senju clan. Or maybe the last clan head? But considering we don’t hear anything about them, they’re either entirely dead or—as my headcanon goes—married into other clans earlier in Konoha’s timeline to foster peace amongst the village (and also take advantage of what their clan name meaning thousand hands, which I have to assume means they are good at many different techniques/styles WITHOUT the cheating Sharingan, even if Mokuton was their most prominent ability that sadly needed specific elemental chakra ratios) except that it backfired because they’ve all married out and none remain to BE the Senju clan.
Anyway, all that to say that she doesn’t have any familial/clan responsibilities beyond what she self assigned in regards to Shizune as her almost niece. And for all that she did abandon Konoha for decades, being a drunken gambler around the continent, she DID come back when the village needed her. So, like, she’s probably unimpressed with Shikako’s actions overall.
Shikako might have been acting on the Nara clan’s justifiable desire for revenge for their assassinated heir, but in doing so she left them in the lurch, both leaving them without a proven, trained heir—for all that she never wanted it, she WAS trained alongside Shikamaru in how to run the clan—since Kinokawa wouldn’t have received that same heir training—and also without one of their biggest political/actual powers: Konoha’s premier Seal Master. Shikako is to sealing what Tsunade was to healing. And, yes, she did set up the Seal Research Group as a teenager, so it’s not like she didn’t have a system in place to take over for her, but it’s still a difference between a once-in-a-generation genius versus a group of very smart people who collaborate with each other sometimes?
But, again, I do think Tsunade WOULD have given the Nara their revenge. They were owed the deaths of those Sand councilors who killed their heir. That Naruto deprived them of that was the first in what Tsunade would consider a series of mistakes on both sides. None of this would have been an issue had Naruto done the correct thing: put his personal feelings on capital punishment aside, and considered what was best for Konoha. But then Shikako ALSO made a mistake in exacting that revenge personally as opposed to, like, lobbying for it or setting her OWN feelings aside and doing what was best for Konoha. They’re both foolish children who have compromised Konoha because of their emotions instead of doing their duty and suppressing their bitterness under endless work and various vices. It’s interesting because I think Tsunade is so conflicted about Konoha—she both loves and hates it, what it has become and could be versus what it has done to her, taken from her—she would never act against the village, but hasn’t already asked so much of her? Doesn’t she deserve to leave?
Anyway, I think then Tsunade would appreciate that Shikako did square the circle of the political landscape created by her own actions—ie, the theoretical hot civil war that would have happened had she stayed—by disavowing her name and career so as not to be a threat to Naruto’s status as Hokage or a risk to Konoha. Of course, it’s not nearly enough to fully neutralize the dissent, what with ANY clans’ secession plans, but there’s no way Tsunade would know about that if she’s enjoying her retirement away from Konoha.
It’s not as good as Tsunade’s own decades-long sabbatical, but considering what her two teammates did when they were away from Konoha (what with Orochimaru joining a terrorist organization then leaving that to create a village specifically to invade Konoha and kill their teacher and then Jiraiya having trained the founders of said terrorist organization, thus leading to the biggest threat against Konoha, and then all the terrible porn and no doubt sexual harassment throughout the continent), Shikako’s path is certainly not the worst.
Also, I think Tsunade does enjoy Shikako’s movies, especially the ones where she’s behind the camera either as writer or director. Because for all that Tsunade is fond of Naruto, she think Shikako is fascinating: clever and strange and efficient in such a bizarre, sideways manner. Shikako’s thought process is so unexpected yet compelling to Tsunade, that I have to imagine that translates to Shikako’s movies as well. I don’t think she’s as die hard a fan as Kakashi is, but I do think she has a lot of time in her retirement, and why not go to the movies?
Ahhhhhhh, just thinking about Tsunade looking at Shikako and seeing a girl with so much potential thwarted by war and violence and her own trauma is just… AHHHHHHHHHH.
Anyways, anon, that’s what I think about both Chiyako and Tsunade in the bleak!primadonna AU. And you are correct, I am EXTREMELY bad at writing specifically Naruto himself, so you will NOT be getting a “5 conversations naruto has about shikako during his reign and one he had with her right after the execution” because that’s SIX TOO MANY CONVERSATIONS INVOLVING NARUTO than I am comfortable taking on.
... but I could probably be tricked into writing more bleak!primadonna AU stuff with the right/compelling enough prompt, lol

If you insist…
Why is nart so shitty with it's female characters?
Because 9/10 they don't do anything.
Not only do we have such a weird gap between the female characters and the male ones, were even the teams have two - three and the girls are nearly always stuck at one, to the point that the senseis have literally one woman who got benched before actually doing anything, but those female characters don't get nearly the amount of time or energy to their stories.
Sakura has the best given that she's on the main team, but compared to Naruto, Sasuke and Kakashi? Even Yamato? She is given the brunt end of the stick constantly, with her achievements either ignored overshadowed, her story so often revolving around loving Sasuke or pushing up Naruto, and the ending completely omitting her from recieving any reincanation powerup or even the final fucking fight.
Hinata is the same as Sakura, where most of her character and her story is revolving around how much she loves Naruto, whereas the more interesting parts like her inheritence being passed over to Hinabi, or her being the target of Neji's trauma and anger towards how their clan runs and what her father did. All of that is barely given anything in Part 1, and practically nothing in Shippuden.
Ino and Tenten are the worst in the Konoha 11, but poor Tenten doesn't even have a last name. She had a chance to actually get something during the War arc with the powerful weapons being something she is literally a master in, but then nothing happens of it.
Outside of that, we had Temari, who at least got the screentime and one of the better written romances with Shikamaru, but again it's devolving another female character's whole thing to romance. We don't even get her and Kankuro dealing with their abusive dad in the War arc.
She had some good moments, don't get me wrong, but that's not enough to what others get.
And Ino's just there. Really the Hidan and Kakuzu arc was mainly centred around Shikamaru, as both Choji and Ino got pushed into the background for it, but Ino didn't even do anything in the final fight. At least Choji and Kakashi got more, she just fucking stood around.
There's others but I also wanna mention that the only female Hokage we got was Tsunade, who's main jokes are how big her boobs are, her skill as a medic, and that she makes herself younger when most of the women in Naruto aren't allowed to actually look their age or even have less "pretty" features like the guys do.
TLDR: The girls are reduced down to love interests, mothers, who just are in the background with very little to do compared to their male counterparts.

I am so entranced by ur style it's crayzay . . . I adore how you draw Sakura and Kakashi they're so silly goofy
thank youuu!!!!!! :^D i love drawing them, especially interacting together, i think there's SUCH a wealth of possibility that kishimoto failed to exploit in his storytelling that could lead to detailing parallels between the two of them—and woudln't it be a bit fitting if she ends up being, in many ways, the one most like kakashi? the one left behind?
#yamswers#rosetylerisms#ILL GO INSANE IF I START TALKING TOO MUCH ABOUT IT AGAIN BUT. LISTEN#THEYRE SO ALIKE IN SO MANY WAYS !#all of the kids are like kakashi a little bit and i know sasuke was intended to present the most direct parallels but sasuke is#well. whatever. im not going to get into it BUT the point is#at the very least. while sasuke was off with orochimaru and naruto was off with jiraiya#sakura and kakashi stayed in the village while sakura learned under tsunade#i would NOT be surprised if they met up for lunch every so often so kakashi could get updates on at least ONE of his student's educations#and when you spend time with people you inevitably reflect them in minute undetectable ways#my point is that one day they go out to lunch all of them all together as adults (sai naruto sasuke sakura yamato kakashi)#and sakura and kakashi pick up their meals in exactly the same way at the same time and its just that. just such a small tiny thing#meaningless#but everyone else is like “Huh ?”#AND THERES NO ANSWER TO THAT HUH! BECAUSE ITS A MEANINGLESS GESTURE ! its just a way of holding a bowl! a coincidence of timing !#but all the same everyone is like what the fuck sakura is like kakashi in this small way. and naruto points it out to her because he knows#it will piss her off#and it does. she's still the one who criticizes kakashi the most brutally. and sai is just baffled about what any of this matters for#but he doesn't want sakura to get bullied alone he's Trying To Be Nice so he starts immitating both sakura and kakashi.#WHICH MAKES SAKURA MORE MAD#and sasuke is like woa things are different than when i left. and he's just observing.#and yamato doesn't have anything to add this is massively entertaining for him. dinner and a show? watching kakashi get dunked on? say less#god. “i'll go insane if i start talking too much about it again” me @ me: darling i think you're insane to begin with.#MY POINT IS. SHE IS HER LADY'S STUDENT. AND HER SENSEI'S STUDENT. and it should SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What do you imagine Tsunade would have been like as leader of the Senju clan, if the clan was still intact in Konoha?
Suppose it might depend on how much of her trauma will effect her ability to lead them. If she still ends up with her addictions to gambling and drinking and leaves the village, she wouldn't be much of a leader.
Though she is clearly capable of being a leader, so if life was kinder to her I could see her in the role of clan head and doing very well with it.

Hope I'm not too late to the anime girls party but:
My all-time fave is Shizune.
Tumblr media
I love pretty much all the ladies from Naruto though.
You are never too late to talk about sexy ladies, not on this blog!! 💗
Oh Shizune... *happy sigh* I do love her, though I’ll always pick Tsunade if I’m made to choose (I can’t help but want to be made to kneel by the Lady Hokage 🫣) Shizune is so pretty, level-headed and I adore her ability to snap back when necessary.
The girlies in Naruto are something else, they really are. 🫠

Not quite.
Jaune's family is a case where I take some characters with similar traits in anime and give them the honorary title of Arc. If you note the specific traits, you can see I used classic middle school logic.
That would be some crazy marriage, though, right? Crossover shippers, you guys can do what you do best if you see this.

Challenge Results: Snow Shoveling!
Tumblr media
There were two hundred and sixty one houses in Konoha and thirty two different business', all in desperate need of a good clearing after a night of heavy snowfall.
Two hundred and ninety three buildings and only two shinobi to do the job.
"Surely there's more people to help us out," Kakashi had complained when Tsunade-sama had finished explaining the task. "Just Gai and me to do all of this seems a little-"
daunting.
tiresome.
downright impossible.
There were a lot of words Kakashi could think of to describe his exact feelings about the situation.
"I do have other shinobi," Tsunade confirmed. "But I thought the two of you might have a little bit of fun with it on your own."
Fun.
For some reason that word didn't sit right with him in this situation. There was nothing fun about shoveling snow on the first day off he'd had in two months.
"I don't think-"
A hand came down hard against his shoulder, forcing him to take a step forward. "Come on now, Rival," Gai cheered, forever ready to meet a job head on no matter how impossible it may seem. "We can make a challenge of it."
"A challenge?" his eyes sparkled with excitement. It had been far too long since his last challenge with Gai, but it wouldn't do any good to let his friend see how his words had affected him. Gai would never let him hear the end of it if he knew he actually enjoyed their challenges. "Well, I don't know-"
"How about something to help you decide?" a light smile played at Tsunade's lips. "a prize of sorts."
Kakashi perked up at the mention of a prize. When it came to free things, there was nothing short of senseless murder that Kakashi wouldn't do.
"Two hundred and ninety three places," it only took him a second to divide the work load into two. To win he'd only have to shovel one hundred and forty seven walk ways. It would still involve a lot of work, but it was felt like a much more achievable goal with a prize on the line. "And what do we get in return? other than the pay that comes with doing the job."
Tsunade scrunched up her nose at the reminder. "You want your pay and a prize?" she huffed. "Never one to get as much as you can, are you brat?" settling back into her chair, she folded her hands together and thought. "how about dinner?"
"you're paying?"
"of course."
"well, in that case," turning towards the door, he flashed Gai a quick smile. "see you out there."
With that, he was gone. the wind under his feet and Gai's voice calling out to him as he headed straight for the closest building.
------------------------------------------
One hundred and forty six.
Kakashi had pulled out every trick he could think of to beat Gai and secure himself a free dinner for the night. From using fire style jutsu's to melt the snow, to abusing the power of Obito's eye to vanquish it into an unknown dimension.
All of that effort he'd put into winning, and none of it had paid off.
"I should have known you'd cheat," Gai laughed as he held Akino up over his head. "really, Rival. Have you no shame?"
Kakashi huffed. "Don't talk to me about cheating," he grumbled under his breath. "You sent your student's to try and distract me!"
"Well, yes," there was no hint of shame in his voice. "but only after you sent the hounds to distract me."
"and you used the fifth gate! how do you think Tsunade-sama is going to take that? Using one of the forbidden gates for...for a competition!"
"You used Kamui!"
"Only once!"
"Once is enough to land you flat on your ass."
"Lee was shoveling snow back into the walk way to try and help you win! I had no choice!"
"I'm sorry," an energy radiated behind them. An murderous energy that could easily trump Orochimaru's 'will to kill' in terms of effectiveness. "Did you say you used Kamui and the eight gates?"
For his own safety, Kakashi chose not to turn around. Unfortunately, Gai did not seem to have the same strong survival instincts, because he spun round to face his doom with a cautious smile and a quick explanation.
"Tsunade-sama! I didn't realize- well, it doesn't matter," he chuckled in the face of death. "We've completed our task."
"I see that," Kakashi could feel her eyes staring directly at his back, but he still refused to budge. If he was going to die today she would have to stab him in the back. "And you used dangerous moves that could potentially land you in hospital to do it?"
"Ah, well you see-"
"Gai..."
"Kakashi was cheating. He summoned the hounds," Akino whimpered when Gai held him out towards Tsunade-sama like some sort of offering. "I had to catch up."
"With a dangerous technique that has resulted in broken bones in the past?"
"Ah, well...yes?"
"Gai..."
"I was just trying to-"
"Gai, shut up!" Kakashi reached out and grabbed hold of his friend's arm, pulling him away just in time to avoid taking a punch to the face. "Run!"
"But Kakashi-"
"If you want to live, Run!" He insisted, releasing his grip on Gai's arm and making a break for freedom with Gai hot on his tail.
There was very little chance he'd successful escape Tsunade's wrath. Even if he managed to outrun her, she was known for holding a grudge for years. His punishment would catch up with him sooner or later.
his only goal at the moment was avoiding that punishment right now and hoping that Shizune was able to calm her auntie down a little before Kakashi and Gai were forced to face her again.
A bruised arm from one of her more restrained punches and an extra week of A rank mission's was a much better punishment than having his rib cage caved in by one of her strongest punches.

[Ask, Alpha Stud, College Gym Student] Is it true Naruto that you aren't worried about getting in trouble about your relationship with Sakura, since you and Principal Tsunade are very close?
"Close is, well, a way of not angering Granny," Naruto replied, only to get a backhanded punch from the busty woman. "UGH!!"
"Don't call me that, brat," Tsunade says to Naruto, "and it's Dean Tsunade to you! I'm in charge of a college, dammit!"

So I have never read or watched Naruto. Mostly because I have good anime taste and only watch things like interspecies reviewers and SAO. But that being said I've always been curious. Is Tsunade the type of dommy mommy to physically, verbally, and emotionally abuse me? I want to know if reading the series just for her is worth it.
i wouldn't say reading it just for her is worth it, just because she takes a backseat for a majority of the arcs once she finally becomes hokage until the fourth shinobi world war arc. i'd say just read her specific chapters & watch some tiktok edits of her for your fix lol.
