Hiii saw your requests open and i thought why not give it a shot. I love your stories, I'm more attached to your style of writing melancholy like on floret, counting coins, better left unsaid and always the angel never the god. So, just a random idea to throw out there you can do whatever with it:
Hiccup and yn were engaged early on. Yn is a bit older and fitter to follow around Stoick to learn how to defend and manage Berk. Yn feels sorry for Hiccup and tries to make him enjoy his youth and time with his friends more while she made him handle the rest. Leading to a misunderstanding that he didn't feel needed when in fact he did have a crush on her with how she doted on him and how cool she looked fighting dragons and ordering people around. While she liked him for his thoughtful caring side but still envied his freedom and creativity.
That's pretty much it idk lmao it was just a word puke. That's just the gist no need to be word for word, if it's too much i completely understand but truly want to praise your eloquence and how you caught me right in the feels augh. Thank you for your time! 🦀

His arms ached, heavy and stiff as if the body of a sapling had been shot right through the bone. They loosened slightly and dipped under some hefty weight- he paid them no mind, eyes drawn to the wild world on the outside even as he grunted and struggled.
With a jerk, dropping the sword, he with a strength he’d never really been able to spend on the all things that really mattered. There was a hefty clatter and a clang, the sound no less thick than the bang of a heavy bell or a gong, long metal body slamming and dancing against stone.
His feet and legs stuttered as he stepped both forwards and back, palms roughly meeting the wood of the counter, bouncing eagerly as if he might begin to run or be startled into action.
There had been a shout- something indignant, deeper than normal, not so much a battle cry yet no less defiant and sure. He thought he might have known it- he had to look.
The feel of smoothed, aged wood beneath his palms, both flatter and rounder than liquid, solid and uninterrupted- the sound of warring battle-cries from the world outside and the sweltering feel of heat from both the forge and the terrible reign of dragonfire and sharp teeth and clawed mouth- all of it came secondary to his searching, the bulk of him overshadowed by the hefty forge window
It was too early in the battle and the warriors of Berk had been too prepared for there to have been a line outside the door, and well- most of everyone had already left for the other side of the island, where the assault had been most violent.
He felt the burn on the side of his hand as he brought his hand back, grazing it against the side of the table- he’d accidentally pressed it against the face of the sander’s belt. It’d stung and buzzed with a thickness not unlike the feeling of folded cloth crusted in dragon spit or the hard skin on the bottom of an old foot, though the skin on his own palm, he knew, wasn’t so thick or stubborn.
Past raging orange flames and scorching yellows he saw you, lonesome, outlined like a shadow in the light across the clearing.
Your shoulders were stiff and your stance full as you swung the hard, metal-rimmed bottom of a bucket against the head of a beast- a Gronkle, its thick, green-brown head giving way to a wide maw as it bellowed.
It bled, its blood splattering across your face as if it were naught but a shock of light or darkness made liquid; as if, instead, it was you who had been violently cut and not it.
There was no vicious, beautiful Astrid here to ogle at- not now, as there had been in the before times and as there would be later- no, just you.
You, who had been meant for him… At least, he thought so.
He wasn’t completely confident in the fact- the whole thing went rather unspoken of. It wasn’t a taboo per se, more something that lay heavy, made clear through few words a long time ago then made obscure by the lengths of time and age.
Still, there came a suresty with it even if there wasn’t much of a bond between the two of you, something that, for him, acted as a heavy comfort. In times like these, he leaned into it, felt the lump in his chest beat against it like his bones were nothing but taut leather and wood.
-
Blazing red hair, nearly imperceptible against the raging fires as she swung an axe- it took you a while to find any of the others.
Before you was fiery Tove, a tallish Viking girl-woman from a house named ‘Alfson,’ not so influential as it was just there and nearly forgotten. In it, she was like a polished gem among a lot of plain, unassuming stones. She was also a member of your peer group, aged older by about nearly a winter. She’d been born in the warmer month, when the sun was at its hottest and the earth was at its greenest.
You settled by her with crossed arms, close enough to be recognized as part of the group and yet not close enough to hint towards any one specific alliance.
It was the darkest of nights above yet the fires rendered it light as day. You tried your hardest not to inhale any of the soot as you watched the rest -the two of four, really- fooling, knocking into each other with rough shoulders as you worked where it really mattered.
Your peer group was a large one. The number of you here was only a smallish fraction of a whole, the rest drawn away in the moment by other troubles and politics.
They’d grown complacent in the chaos, used to the raging fires and battle as you all were, carelessly leaving the fires around to burn and eat away at everything. You kept yourself still and casual in spite of it, knowing that, here, words and tussles were just as dangerous as the rock-shattering jaws of any beast.
Brigading was a task born more to temper the fires of the eager younger men more than it was to assure the sanctity of the village, though no task was without its uses- more often than not, however, you all ended up taking up a weapon and battling to your own ends.
Still, you took it seriously.
You’d not so much been invited into the brigade as you’d one day picked up a bucket and started helping along in silence, though you probably would have been asked along eventually.
Approval from the others had been slow to garner and yet it was strong, anchoring- you’d no intention of trying to shake it, though you believed it would be hard to.
With the thick wooden handle lying clenched within one hand, you stopped above the smooth, round top of a viking helmet, resting your foot against it as if you were at the edge of a cliff with a sword.
You’d rather be, at least in the day, when the smoke would be blown out and the air fresh and clear.
“-Codswallop!” The one with the protestant words was Duckmaw, who belonged to a set of intimidating burly arms and short-cropped, burned blonde-ish hair typically hidden under a helmet that had made him look bald, soot darkened face scratched and laying posed under your fuzzy brown boot.
He was unusually brawny and bold for his breed but was also just as soft- he was an Ingerman. Ingermans, though bustingly fierce as any other Viking, also tended to be the most tempered.
“You lot are all the same- tubby poets, you are!” Bjorner spoke back with sharper words. He was the second, and a Thorston, though his second name, Evenson, did not quite match his ties. He also didn’t quite stand on par with his blood, a bit thicker and more prone to jumping into battle than the rest of his clan, who preferred a good bit of taunting first.
His family was a branch-off- one of many, as there tended to be with the Thorstons. “Gooey hearts and even weaker swords.”
“Your words are of poor taste, though I’d expect no less from a bastard!” Duckmaw shrugged aggressively forwards, jerking away, half turning before he thought to face Bjorner again, stepping closer this time. He looked quite silly with his rounder, younger face and slightly more plump body, standing nearly chest-to-chest with a man who was about two winners his senior.
Absent from your lot were a Hilde and an Arne, who was a plump and tall, honorable nearly-man with blonde hair who was suspiciously absent. Away in a fashion that remained unexplained or pondered was a Jorunn, Frode and Hjerson and a Njal.
“Agh, the lot of them,” Trove spoke appealingly, panting slightly, having brought herself to your side, nudging you in the shoulder. She was thicker than you by about a half and a great deal taller, so her elbow landed more against the top of it than along the side, “We womenfolk know better, yes?”
You gave her a skeptical, apathetic eye before turning your attention back to the conflict, standing still and firm- she hadn’t knocked you hard enough to unbalance you though she had given you quite the hard jab, albeit half of it must have been without intention, the other half with surety and mild competition.
Trove didn’t take so much offense, probably more used to your silence and your stoic behavior now than before, when she also used to grace you with a gruff, judging eye.
“I’m no bastard!” Bjorner barked deeply, squaring his shoulders and stepping forwards again. You couldn’t make out all of it, the sound of splintering wood and the white noise of cooking everything raging for but a moment. “But at least my mother’s no manky whore!”
Gritting his teeth, Duckmaw didn’t back down, even as the thin brown furs still attached to Bjorner’s leather overcoat brushed up against his jaw. His arm- the one facing you- twitched up and down as if he’d wanted to lift it, meaty fists clenching uproariously. “Don’t speak of her that way, you-! You-!”
Your even face did nothing to hide your apathy, even as your eyes stayed trained on them.
Their argument went beyond petty bonds and snippish words- it was, in truth, not their argument at all- more an argument of their house, monoliths of Vikings to which they were of little consequence. It was some tiff over land and the excuse was woodstock. The conflict had grown itself into a mighty feud.
“Tis the hobby of fools, to spend all their time arguing about their mamies,” Tove said, her freed red hair still doing wonders to blend her in with the fires, some sticking to skin and face, red, pale and slick with sweat like fish’s skin.
You nearly rolled your eyes. As you did, you caught something from the corner of your eye.
“How’ve you lot been doing?” You heard, nearly lost under the crackling of fires and crumbling of houses, the sound of battle-cry off in the distance. He had a plaintive, respectable voice, still somehow smoothe even under the assault of smoke and ash, all male and deep.
…Ah. Here came the cavalry with a bucket of his own.
You graced swept blonde hair with a nod, what should have been wheat made russet by soot and fire, bursting from the back of Arne’s head where the front was covered by a metal mask- a hazard, as it was, metal being prone to heat and melt under the vicious might of dragon fire.
You suspected, in a few years, he might have one mighty burn scar running down the side of his face- if he made it out of the whole ordeal alive, as it was.
His clothes were torn and he sported a bloody gash on one arm- he’d gotten caught up in some battle, then. He was the only one of them who’d already been accepted by the warriors as one of their own, who’d taken up a sword with quiet determination as the rest of them stayed managing buckets.
You occasionally joined him- you hadn’t received any fuss either, and yet… Well, the others needed managing… Watching, more than anything.
He nodded back at you as you levied up your bucket, grasping it by the bottom.
You huffed a breath of hair, blowing away a heavy tuft of soot as it threatened to hit you in the face, unusually large yet very thin, almost enough to be called a burnt wood scrap.
“-That’s what I thought,” Bjorner said maliciously, distantly- he’d jerked forward, and during the time youd been distracted, Duckmaw, younger and more naive, had faltered.
You stilled. It didn’t matter so much who was what in this minor, petty battle of wills. It wouldn’t change the outcome.
It was only by an odd fluke of politics that you’d ended up here, a fisher’s girl from nowhere island, and so while not at all illicit in origin, you were no better than a bastard.
Here, in this world of blood and fire there was no room for the girl in the woods. You knew that with a quiet, simmering surety, painfully aware of the small square booklet in your back pocket, padding against your thigh as you moved, fresh leather delicately held shut with a clasp, pressing deeply the dulling, colored faces of soft, pressed flowers.

Okay batfam and how to train your dragon crossover
Bruce is Stoick the vast, chief tryna do what’s right but can’t seem to figure out why his ward is acting weird recently
Alfred is the old healer of the village, a friend to all and trying to stop Bruce from being too harsh
Dick is Hiccup, but he was taken in by the chief after his parents were killed in a dragon raid protecting the chief. He is the first to try befriending a dragon and the first to ride one
Tim is the neighbors kid who catches Dick in the first with toothless and helps Dick hide his secret and designs the saddles
Jason is another of the orphans of the village who discovers the secret much later on because he’s annoyed that Dick is suddenly amazing at working with dragons and only agrees to not snitch when Dick promises to help him tame a real big dragon (like Snotlouts)
Idk might add more if I can think of more but for now take my 5 min rambling AU

So I don’t mod video games much or often because I usually play video games because I like the vanilla version and therefore modding is unnecessary.
But I’ve been interested in Beyond Skyrim: Bruma and Beyond Skyrim as a project for a while. I actually considered submitting a voice acting sample to volunteer for them but from what I understand they’ve already got their pick of voice actors so I haven’t bothered.
But anyways a while ago I tried the mod and wasn’t that impressed mostly I think because of the major hiccups my computer struggled with.
Well. I actually sat down and decided to figure it out and downloaded some unofficial patches and turned my video quality way down low and got a wired mouse and that seemed to allow it to actually run at 30 fps instead of being an informative slideshow. So I’ve actually gotten the chance to explore a bit more.
My opinion on the writing is the same. Sometimes dialogue options sound a little too modern. A little too fanfiction. But this whole project essentially is fanfiction so I’m not overly bothered but for a project that claims to want to feel like vanilla Skyrim idk if they quite hit that exactly on the mark.
The guard random filler dialogue is quite good. On par with the quality and stupidness of regular elder scrolls. And if you’ve started the main quest back in Skyrim like I did the Bruma guards might gossip about how a new Dragonborn has shown up in Skyrim. They also seem to have a sick pleasure in punishing criminals which is kinda funny and horrifying at the same time which I really like.
Bruma has been recreated pretty much exactly. If you know your way around in the Oblivion version of Bruma you’ll know your way around here. The ruins of cloud ruler temple are beautiful. The creature reskins to look more like Oblivion creatures are really well done.
Quest design is fine. Dungeons can be confusing at times but I’m also an idiot when it comes to dungeons so yeah
I think that unofficial patches for the mod and the game as a whole are worth downloading.
What I like about the church of Saint Martin is that it seems clear to me that the religion of St. Martin was created specifically to replace Talos after Talos worship was outlawed which is pretty funny. I hope that whenever they finish the project as a whole I can visit Martin in giant stone dragon form and do something extremely rude and/or evil in the vicinity.
I’d like to be able to lick the statue but I don’t think Skyrim has that mechanic
Anyways, fun mod. My opinion of it has gone up since I found a way to run it without my computer catching on fire.

Mother Goose
Summary: Set in a Modern AU. During a trip, Hiccup told the twins to behave and they decide to make him pay for it.
Warnings: /
Rating: General
Words: 462
Fandom: How to Train Your Dragon
Characters: Hiccup, Astrid, Ruffnut, Tuffnut, Snotlout, Fishlegs
Pairing: Hiccstrid
Author's Notes: Idk, weird idea I had last night that I couldn't resist writing. So of course, write it I did and then I posted it.
Enjoy!
-XOXOX-
“Ooooooooh-wa! Ooooooooh-wa!”
“Eeeeeeeeeeoooooooh! Eeeeeeeeeeoooooooh!”
“Wee-woo! Wee-woo! Wee-woo!”
Hiccup should’ve known better than to take the twins anywhere that had the request to be quiet on a sign outside on the entrance. “You will startle the bat population” it says. They’re in a cave open to the public, their phones are out and they’re wailing like sirens. And worst of all, they’ve managed to rope Snotlout into their nonsense, too.
There’s a path of iron bars and wooden floorboards made just for the tourists. He stands on the stairs and leans on the railing as he looks back at the three of them while they take full advantage of the acoustics. Fishlegs covers his ears and quickly walks up ahead. Hiccup doesn’t blame him, they’re a nightmare on his hearing, too. It's a good thing Toothless didn't follow him inside.
Still standing at the bottom, Astrid meets his eye, hands on her hips.
“What did I do?” He asks her in defeat. “Give them too much sugar?”
She shrugs, they never know when Ruffnut and Tuffnut devolve into nonsense or when they successfully drag Snotlout into their shenanigans. They were behaving well until just now when they entered the cave and saw the sign.
The sign Hiccup made them aware of and told them explicitly to follow. He told them to behave, which may have been his undoing. As a matter of fact, it might be the very reason why they managed to drag Snotlout into their nonsense.
“Come on, maybe we’ll lose them in the cave and they can be raised by the bat population here,” Astrid gives him something to look forward to as she climbs the stairs and pulls on his shoulders to drag him along.
It takes only a moment for Tuffnut to notice that he’s moving on. He gasps out loud and dramatically.
“Mother Goose, he leaves us!” As soon as he exclaims that, pointing at the retreating figure of their friend, Hiccup briefly halts to sag before continuing after Astrid.
He’s had so many parent-animal-related nicknames over the years. Both “Mama” as well as “Papa Bear,” “Papa Parrot,” “Mother Hen” , even “Rooster Daddy.” Though they favorite was "Daddy Long Legs" for a very long time. It doesn’t matter to them whether it makes sense or not, so long as it sounds good to them and they can get under his skin.
Today their choice of nickname is…
“Mother Goose!” Ruffnut exclaims.
“Mother Goose please don’t leave your gooselings!”
Astrid puts a supportive hand on Hiccup’s shoulder when he catches up to her. Her smile is sympathetic. Oh, he’s paying for telling them to behave, isn’t he?
“Remind me to put them up for adoption later,” he tells her and she makes a mental note to do so.

On the HTTYD × Worldless train
Imagine Dragon Rider! Duo meeting the Riders themselves (I forgot what the offical group name is...)!
Also/ Alternatively: Dragon! Duo meeting the riders, cue chaos on all members because they're all confused... wonder what they'll look like as dragons?
Maybe they both have feathered wings and manes?
I forget if they even have an official name, I think it's just the "Dragon Riders." Been a hot minute since I've watched anything outside of the movies tho.
That's gonna be an interesting meeting. I...mostly see it going well, as long as no one gets super defensive or flighty? But....we'll see how that goes with this crew. Probably depends a little on the timeframe. If we land somewhere just before or after the second movie, I can see the general feeling being "Wait other dragon riders? AWESOME!"
Ooo, meeting the riders as dragons will be interesting, especially if they retain all of their intelligence/sapience (as opposed to simply being very smart animals). Hiccup and Fishlegs would be ecstatic, I imagine Astrid is going "hey can we slow down for a second you two-", and Snotlout and the Twins are... quite possibly bugging the duo already, who knows. At least, the Twins would be. Snotlout idk. That or the Duo looks so unfamiliar that they're all kinda hiding in fear waiting to see what they do.
As for what they look like, I'd need to go reference the ask, but it'd definitely be cool to pull some inspiration from eastern dragons, since I don't think we see much of that in the series. I think most of what we see riffs more on the western dragon?
At any rate, manes of some kind 100%. Not too sure about the feathered wings? Maybe a mix of wings and scales though. It'd be cool if they both sorta look like the same species, but also have enough differences to definitely not be the same type of dragon anymore. A sorta microevolution/adaptive shift, probably. Edda definitely still hates water, Aven might seriously hate sand/dirt particles in vast quantities (cue Aven staying as far away as physically possible from Edda while she takes a dust bath, unless she uses snow instead. That or she just....vibrates for a moment to shake stuff loose).

thoughts on priory of the orange tree (minor structural spoilers)
i liked the first 3/4s of this book a lot more than the final stretch. the book builds its world from familiar fantasy tropes remixed in fun ways and then subverted in even more interesting ways. the basic structure of the book, alternating its narrative between east and west, with 4 PoV characters, lends the story a good rhythm, at least after the first couple chapters where it feels like reading four different first chapters in a row. but all 4 pov characters felt distinct and powerfully realized and I enjoyed my time with all of them.
for a fantasy book I felt like it all felt a bit un-magical. by about halfway through the book has explained the rules of its world, the types of magic and how they work and who can use them, and it cleaves totally to those rules until the end. its just a bit "magic is when you shoot fire out of your hands" for me. doesn't spoil the book or anything but its not my preference. like if you can explain it then its not really magic is my feeling.
my biggest gripe is that there's a point towards the end where all the conflict seems to go totally out of the book. like once all the mysteries are solved and the protagonists have the full picture, they make their plan to win the day, and then the last 20% of the book is just them doing that with very few hiccups.
okay i think i'm being too harsh. they definitely still encounter difficulties on their way to it but the plan they execute is exactly the plan they made. that just feels a bit anti-climactic to me? like the book just tells you how its going to end about 100 pages before the end. and then it does end that way. there's a lack of tension. feels like either something should have gone wrong, or they realize they've misunderstood some fundamental aspect of things and need a new plan.
like it's very much a book about Realizing Things, which is exactly what I loved about it. its about the conflicting beliefs of various cultures and the way ideology distorts history, etc. the big mystery of the book is "What is the real history of this world?" but that mystery is solved about 80% of the way through, and we're left with a big battle scene that doesn't meaningfully engage with the question. just needed one more fundamental shift in understanding right at the end I thought. honestly I was convinced the book was setting us up for that too, but then it just doesn't happen.
in general the ending feels a bit rushed. i dont mind the pacing picking up for the climax of a story but the earlier chapters are so vivid and lush with detail, and then at a certain point we just stop learning new things, so it ends up feeling like just a list of things that happen, idk.
anyway endings are hard, and it's ultimately a pretty small part of a very long book, and the sense that there is some enduring mystery does set it up well for a sequel, which I'd be eager to read. apparently there's a prequel book, which I think I would read if I knew a true sequel was coming, but might not get around to otherwise.
i always sound so negative when i book post but I genuinely liked this book.
last few thoughts uhhh. the book has this really amusing tendency to just kill characters as soon as its done with them. not a criticism except in the instance of (minor spoilers) Tané's friend who got sent to feather island. that one felt odd in that it really seemed like Tané was being set up to meet her there and maybe learn something about how she viewed people (and herself) growing up but then oops! she's actually already dead when we get there.
the romance was very good.
shout out to Roslain I just think she's a great character and she gets one of the best lines in the whole story
also I wish we'd gotten more Tané but apparently the author agrees on that point lol. dragon-hearted girl you mean everything to me

Reasons why Jim Lake jr is Hiccup's descendant (and not tom he can go eat shit)
The httyd world and TOA world might be in the same universe.
Astrid once mentioned trolls and used them as an insult "son of a half-troll rock eating!—" and Gobber also said "Trolls exist! They steal and eat your socks, but only the left ones"
Familiar right? Trolls in the TOA world are attached to socks and those are their meals and snacks.
Gnomes and trolls also exist when hiccup stated "that it'll scare gnomes and trolls"
In the Trollhunters museum we can see that Stoick's helmet along with the Viking ship placed in the museum, while his sword was in the hero's Forge. The yaknog jug Astrid carried also appeared in Trollhunters. (The episode where blinky and the others went into Gato's mouth)
Jim's Armor also shares much similarities to Httyd's armors.
Charlemagne isn't much old to exist in the Viking years. He and other dragons could've probably evolved through the years as he looks more of a troll-dragon mix.
Sentinels are also stone creatures (dragons) made out of LIVING stone (much like Trolls), this could be the ancestors of The troll dragons from ROTT movie and also evolved through the years that they could adapt not just rocks and stones but also gems and crystals for skin. The only problem is Sentinel's can survive in the sun while trolls can't, which leads to my other theory.
(sentinel and troll dragon theory) Troll dragons might be the offspring of a sentinel and Troll forming a hybrid that's called The troll dragons. And throughout the years these troll dragons have adapted other environments which made them only not have rock/stone for skin but also gems and crystals.
Now moving on to Jim and Hiccup.
But how is Jim Hiccup's descendant?
— Jim and Hiccup share similarities. (A lot) Jim and Hiccup are both goofy but have a brave heart, they both would sacrifice themselves for their loved ones. They will do everything just to accomplish what they desire. (They're also very embarrassing to be around their crush *cough* Astrid and Claire)
Both grew up being good at weaponry. They were both struck at lightning. Not to mention they kinda look alike and Young hiccup used to Hunt trolls, and Jim in the books was in a blood line of Troll hunters
Barbara's side of family is probably Hiccup's blood continuing, Barbara (somehow) lowkey has potential being a relative to hiccup (both are brunette's too, and her blue eyes match Astrid's) Barbara also looks (not a lot, but it works) like Valka. (Zephyr also had brown hair and blue eyes.)
The troll-market looks identical to the hidden world as it has many glowing/magic crystals/gems and other stones. (The heart stone looks like the giant crystal that the light furry and toothless made their roars as the queen and king of dragons in the hidden world)
And in the first episode of the Trollhunters Toothless made a cameo as an easter egg and wallpaper for jim's laptop.
The book of dragons would be a historical artifact that's probably laying on Charlemagne's Cave (i forgot what it's called lol)
Maces and Talons also made an appearance with Blinky and Draal.
Arcane Order
—This could also mean that the bird-dragon like mask that Bellroc wore was from a dragon they probably slayed.
The bewilder beast might have been created by Skrael's magic (these demi gods have long life and magic and they would create anything they wanted) Skrael probably thought of creating a creature that would inherit his Ice based magic.
And I have photos for proof but they don't seem to upload and idk why

ok i know no one will really see this but i just had a dream and need to share.
so. i have a toddler cousin who loves trying new stuff and im always trying to make that happen, so apparently that includes dragon riding. my two year old cousin was hanging out with the httyd gang and rode MOTHER FUCKING TOOTHLESS. AND ALSO MEATLUG.
the gang was all talking about what they were gonna do when they had to pass their dragons down (bc dragons are apparently immortal + ig they just can't ride them forever or smth like they're too busy) but IT WAS SO CUTE like she was having a blast and they were all so sweet! and hiccup was talking to astrid about how toothless is too hard to clean and might not get proper care with someone else. also apparently when he wears the dragon mask (he had a new cool one that only covered his mouth ig) he can't breathe so he has to fire breathe. well he said "technically raptor breathe" when astrid asked so idk. the whole time the gang was on a little island discussing who would end up with their dragons, and the dragons were all making sure my cousin (the toddler) didn't get hurt
also there was a later scene where there's a group of kids (that look exactly like movie 1 gang) who keep trying to go ride dragons but get scolded bc they're too young. it was actually like really cool and stuff idk i wanted to share before i forgot

Complex number of questions time!
If the Dragon Riders + Dagur, Heather, Viggo and anyone else you think might be interesting to add had to suddenly deal with The Muppets, how do you think they'd react?
Also! If they were actors, would they be good at working with The Muppets, and if so would they be the 'treat The Muppets like fellow actors' type or 'treat themselves as a Muppet' type?
I love this kinda question dude. It's got everything! The Muppets! The Dragon Riders! This got long so clicky click for more.
I feel like Tuffnut is the one most likely to totally be into it. He's not like, oh their just puppets whatever. He's taking it super seriously. He'd have so much fun chatting with Gonzo (though, he'd probably hide Chicken from him lol) and Fozzie and Animal. He's basically them, after all. Tuffnut also would vibe with the rest of Animal's band. Also, Tuffnut would do both, at the same time, he'd treat the Muppets like a fellow actor, and also treat himself like a Muppet. He's great.
Viggo, as an actor, would go the Michael Caine route, and treat them like fellow actors and treat it super seriously. He'd be good at it. Viggo also, would have to be dealing with One Miss Piggy being SUPER hot for him. I'm not sure how he feels about this? I think he'd humor her, for sure. (Kermit and Hiccup are like facepalming lol) Maybe she'd karate chop him? (That'd be kinda great lol) I don't think Viggo can handle any of the other Muppets.
I think Fishlegs would be so nervous at first because like, The Muppets are ChaoticTM but so are the twins he knows. He'd definitely make that noise he makes when he's nervous. I think he'd get along well with Bunsen and Beaker for obvious reasons. And Scooter. As an actor, I think he'd be good at it and he seems like he'd take it seriously, so he's the first one.
Astrid is debatable. I mean, if Miss Piggy is into Hiccup and they aren't poly, then Astrid and Miss Piggy might get into blows. Hard to say who wins there. Though Kermit would try to get involved I'm sure lol. Maybe she'd find Kermit calming. Astrid in general would be like, this is so weird, what do I even DO. Idk why but I picture like, them wearing the same outfit lol. Like, there's a magazine image from 30 Rock where Miss Piggy is wearing the same dress as a character and she's wearing it better. I'm sure she'd find Pepe to be a pest. Her and Rizzo would be interesting. As an actor, Astrid definitely does not seem like the act like a Muppet type, but I also don't think she'd be very good at acting with them. That's okay, though!
Hiccup. I mean, Hiccup's Kermit, is he not? Am I wrong? He's basically Kermit. He'd definitely get along with Kermit. Miss Piggy would likely be super into him. I mean, who isn't, right? Hiccup would like Uncle Deadly, because well... he's a dragon. I think Hiccup would just... roll with it. He knows the twins, he's already been at the front end of changing society, he can roll with changes. He's not Sam Eagle lol. He'd handle it and probably enjoy it. He gets along well with Bunsen, Beaker, and Gonzo. As an actor, he'd do well, and I'm leaning towards the Tim Curry end of the spectrum.
Ruffnut. Tim Curry end of the spectrum. She vibes so hard with the band. She and Janice GET ALONG SO WELL!!!!!!!!! She'd flirt with Kermit knowing it'll piss Miss Piggy off. She does not care. She's vibing. She'd also vibe with Rizzo and Pepe. She'd probably make out with Pepe if she could. Gonzo too.
Snotlout. Kinda want him to interact with Fozzie the most mostly because of his association with bears. But also, him and Pepe and Rizzo would get along pretty well lol. I could see it. As for acting... I was gonna with bad, but then I remembered Sir Ulgerthorpe. Michael Caine end of the spectrum.
Heather. Not good at acting. I don't think she'd be thrilled with having to deal with the Muppets. She's too serious. Kermit needs to sing Rainbow Connection at her.
Dagur. He would have SO MUCH FUN. Both as actor (he'd be the treats himself as a Muppet end of the spectrum) and just whatever. He's so into it. He's basically Animal. Wikipedia has this sentence: "Author Christopher Finch calls Animal "the ultimate representation of a long line of Muppets who personify unbridled appetite",[9]: 103  both "carnivorous beast" and "physical manifestation of pure libido." Enough said.
I did think about Stoick and Gobber but I don't really have a lot of thoughts. Stoick is probably awkward about it, Gobber vibes. Gobber is Tim Curry end of the spectrum on the actor side. Debatable what Miss Piggy thinks of Stoick lol.
Swedish Chef probably would fit right in on Berk. That's all.

Initially I thought Knuckles and Jet could fit equally good as either Dagur or Snoutlout (I'm never getting used with his original name LOL), but then nah... Dagur is too much villainous in the start, like he is deliberately such a madman and had such a charisma being that villain and was so into being like that by his pure free will plus the way he was used to see the world and such that not Knuckles or Jet can fit, none of them were ever evil to begin with, one was misguided and the other is just not exactly good as well.
Knuckles being there was only guided by the aesthetic since you're considering Blaze to be Heather and then the two ✨guardians✨would be the siblings and it made sense to me for a time.
Meanwhile I just thought on Jet because of SatBK, as many point out Lamorak and Percival are siblings in the Arthurian Stories, that's it...
Buuuuuut y'know what, or rather who, have a personality that matches with Dagur? Infinite! Yes, I'm suggesting him, I feel like he has the vibes to take Dagur's role.
Then we get who would be Snoutlout and a further thought put Jet out, Initially they seemed equally perfect as them both have that dynamic, like they hype themselves and even boast like they were better than Sonic, but then the narrative is like "actually, Sonic is just as good as them... I think he's even better lol" if it even makes sense...
But then, let's be real, if there's something ridable in the universe, Jet is doing that years before than Sonic (Uh, he could be one of that group that raises the kind of dragon Heather rides, which I'm not sure of the name in the original dub)
Also, Snoutlout is kinda like Hiccup's first rival, just like Knuckles, so yeah, Knux is the better suíted.
I won't lie, I also think Vector could work as Snoutlout, his attitude + the soft and sensible side he gets in the series (and I think were carried to the second and third movies I need to rewatch) + the kid he have quite a quarrelsome big-lil bros dynamic with made Vec just pop around here
So in short, I invaded your Ask Box to suggest you to put Infinite in Dagur's role and that somehow I suggest Knuckles and Vector equally to Snoutlout's role
I thought about the twins too, but the fact one of them ends with Fishleg, who iirc is Tails, makes it harder
Yeah Jet never really wanted to KILL Sonic so he doesn't quite fit Dagur, and as you say Knuckles was just misguided and eventually becomes besties with Sonic - which is why I feel he works better as Snotlout too!
I DID actually think of Infinite as Dagur!! Even before Blaze as Heather (which might have been Chaz's idea I don't remember who said it first now lol). Cuz he definitely does fit how Dagur acts in riders/defenders but not really in rtte where he has a complete personality change and decides to be good sjfjdhfgd. But it could still work perhaps... there's enough reformed Infinite aus out there that it wouldn't be TOO weird lol. I'll see I'll see, again I'm not sticking with all the canon relationships so he doesn't have to be Blaze's brother if I do have him as Dagur.
Also I'm crying do you mean Mala? Jet as Mala, queen of the defenders of the wing? Who ends up married to Dagur?? Maybe you meant one of the others but I'm LOSING it at Jet/Infinite... that's so funny I've never considered that ship ever. Yeah why not Jet can be Mala LMAO
I don't think I would consider Vector as Snotlout (sorry) just cuz I wanted the main squad to be the classic characters y'know? And Shadow lol. That said, my original line up was Jet as Snotlout, Tails as Fishlegs, Knuckles as Tuffnut and Amy as Ruffnut. However. And I'm very sorry about this... I just don't like Jet. I don't have any real reasons, I just don't lmao so I didn't want him to be part of the main gang ^^;
I did have a vague thought of Vector being Gobber but idk... if he was he definitely wouldn't have the same dynamic with Aleena that Gobber and Stoick do lol!!
Someone mentioned Sticks as Tuffnut which is hilarious but they wouldn't have the same dynamic as Ruff and Tuff so idk. That's why I thought of just having 5 of them rather than 6 and not having twins at all (rip). Amy and Knuckles can still have the headbutting dynamic as they're both pretty hot headed, they don't need to be related to do that!
If we wanna talk about canon httyd relationships then Fishlegs also dates Heather in rtte, as well as Snotlout having a GIANT gay crush on Fishlegs in one ep, and the both of them fighting over Ruffnut in the 2nd movie. So like I'm not gonna be doing all that don't worry skfhfhsgs I'm picking and choosing the dynamics I like and want to keep.

more httyd OCs
ok so I've got more next-generation dragon riders for the fic im working on
but they're the kids of the antagonists - the warlords of the northern alliance (im probably gonna come up with a different name for them, idk)
their perspective on dragons is somewhat complicated because they grew up with their parents telling them how horrible the world was before they subjugated dragons and how they have to be harsh with them to keep them in line...but at the same time, they grew up as dragon riders who have pretty close relationships with their own dragons. So they kind of see dragons in general as a force that has to be put under the "right" kind of control (ie, subordination, not cooperation).
sooo here's my lil guys!
Oktai (16/17ish) is the younger son of Griselda the Grievous and Chaghatai Khan (yes, I put them together, it just made sense to me, idk). Oktai gets along much better with his dad, who is more easygoing and laid back, whereas mom is suuuper intense. Oktai's sort of the runt of the litter of the warlord kids. He's not a fighter at all - somewhat similar to Hiccup in HTTYD 1, but a lot more cynical and moody. He's extremely jealous of his older brother but also looks up to him. He excels at learning about dragons — specifically how to manipulate them. It upsets him but he tries not to think about it too much cause he's just trying to get by and not piss anyone off, especially his mother. Any time he feels a twinge of empathy he shoves it waaay down. Damn pesky conscience.
Appearance: Medium height and thin. Messy, black shoulder length hair, usually in a ponytail. Light brown, cat-like eyes. Pointed facial features.
Fun fact: Oktai is a Mongolian name that means "he who understands." Yes, this is important.
Oktai is the only one who does not ride a dragon.
Alaric (early 20s) is Oktai's older brother. He's handsome, tall, charismatic, honest, a great fighter, etc, etc. He's brave and a good leader—definitely next in line to lead the Warlords. He adheres strictly to the worldview his parents taught him—that dragons are a force that must be conquered. His father goes about this from more of a "greater good" perspective, whereas his mother wants to do away with any forces that stand in the way of her ability to exercise power. Either way, Alaric is not about questioning his worldview. Whereas Oktai avoids doing so out of fear, Alaric just doesn't understand why anyone would. He believes that they're the good guys. Not like those reckless anarchists on Berk...right?...Right?
Alaric doesn't really understand his baby brother but he looks out for him as best as he can.
Appearance: Tall, broad-shouldered. Long, dark brown hair in a braid. Light brown eyes. Rectangular features. Annoyingly handsome. And his teeth are just like...stupidly perfect. What a show-off.
Fights with a sword and rides a Typhoomerang...I think. Might change that later.
Bjorn (late teens/early 20s) is the older son of Ragnar the Rock. He's tall and beefy...like not muscular—BEEFY. He's kind of an asshole to Oktai but not when Alaric's around. He's very serious and easily-angered. His little sister annoys the hell out of him, but he's still protective of her.
Appearance: Tall, and as previously stated, beefed up. Covered in tattoos. Short, curly ginger hair shaved on the sides.
Fights with a mace and rides a Crimson Goregutter. He really likes the name.
Edda (about 15) You CANNOT stop her, she can only be contained. Younger daughter of Ragnar the Rock. She's mischievous, impulsive, and sneaky. Also tends to be mean to Oktai, but not always on purpose. She kind of just opens her mouth and stuff comes out. Who can keep track?
Appearance: Short with an athletic build. She has a cute baby face (but don't let that fool you. She will set your house on fire). Short, curly ginger hair. Absolutely covered in freckles.
Fights with knives and rides a Raincutter, whom she has secretly named Puddle (they're not supposed to name their dragons). She loved Puddle too much not to name him though.

Seeing your art with Magolor and Toothless next to each other made me think of a httyd x Kirby crossover, that would be wild haha
Tbh, I had occurrences where that came to mind as well. I don’t mind the idea, I just didn’t know how to expand and explain as to why and how the hell toothless got there in the first place. Because magic doesn’t necessarily exist in httyd, sure a hint of it but it’s more drawn to realism on how dragons would coexist with humans in the Viking era. (Or is it Norse?)
Maybe perhaps one of the star portals opened up and sucked him in idk lmao- what I DO know is that toothless might consider the people of dreamland to be an avenger level threat because in his world he has not seen any other talking creature that walks on two legs than humans so seeing other non-human creatures that are essentially bipedal and are capable of speech will spook the living HELL out of him which will turn him a bit hostile and aggressive.
By this the civilian’s of Dreamland would consider him as one too, not only by his behavior but of his outwardly dark appearance and with toothless’s description of, “The unholy offspring of Lightning and death itself.” Doesn’t really do him any favors.
But I really don’t think he would be the one to pick a fight with any of the residents (unless provoked or challenged) because he’s not only repulsed by them but also the fact he would be more focused looking for hiccup and would search at the corners end of Popstar to find him. (even if it would be on foot because he cannot fly without his rider.) Toothless would be just wondering as to where the hell he was and do his best to try and get himself back home to Berk in any way he could even though he does not yet understand how this whole ‘Inter dimensional’ works, because how could he? Sure he’s intelligent enough as it is but he was simply a dragon, a wild animal who was placed in an environment he was not familiar with and he must learn how to survive his way through it.
Though, I would think after realizing through observation from Kirby and the others that this ‘beast’ was simply looking for something and struggling to find it they would try to help toothless but get shut down each time because he either kept running/gliding off, use a threat display or straight up hiss/growl at them like a stray cat. Toothless knew he needed help but he didn’t want any of it to be from them, he’d rather be around scuttleclaws then interact with such alien creatures.
But day by day, week by week he grows weak and it was becoming hopeless as he still had not had found hiccup yet. He grew more depressed thinking about him, having not eaten in days and just wondered if he really was going to die in this unknown world where no one knew of him.
Will this be the final line of his species? Or will a miracle happen that would lead him to hiccup? He yearned the skies, but yearned his friend even the more.

Collected thoughts on the Neverafter AU 💀 Neverafter spoilers ahead! If fantasy horror and shenanigans are your thing, I highly recommend sitting down with some bubblegum whisky and having the time of your life watching this show.
Any and all dnd stat stuff is wibbly-wobbly I’m just here to vibe
Merida, after following will-o-wisps off the forest path and to a witch’s hut (Baba Yaga mayhaps) is determined to find freedom from her family. Fooled by the witch, she curses her family to become bears - including herself. However, she is no ordinary animal, and is equipped with the power to make things right. Barbarian/Druid, with a splash of long range proficiency. Ylfa Snorgelsson’s relationship with Death and Growing Up matches well with Merida I think. Perhaps the antidote to her curse is a tapestry. Her twice and thrice upon a times make her monstrous bear form more prominent.
Rapunzel was never rescued from her tower. She taught herself magic behind Gothel’s back and eventually escaped. Her hair is changed by the Corruption and is somewhat of its own entity - it will heal people, but only if something of equal value is sacrificed to it (cue ~fullmetal alchemist, fullmetal alchemist in a slightly different voice~). I keep waffling on a class for her - for a while I was thinking ancient paladin (for frying pan weapon proficiency lmao) but ranger also works as well, as her closest counterpart in Neverafter *thematically* would be Rosamund du Prix. I think in Neverafter Rapunzel is a monk so y’know. Options.
Hiccup is the exiled prince of Berk, after his friendship with the sworn enemy of the kingdom - dragons - is exposed. He acquires three wishes and the Book from the Gander as he watches his mother make her last wish and crumble into bones, the night before he was banished. As he doodles and writes his observations in the Book, some words stick, and some do not. The Book as a safe haven for fairy tale characters is a nice spin on the dragon sanctuary too I think. He is an artificer but is granted new spells and insights whenever a new character is “put in the Book”. Vicious Mockery is just a him thing idk what to say. He also can grant bardic inspiration, same as Timothy Goose. Which is also a very Hiccup thing. Toothless is a dragon, he’s just a little guy. In another version of this Toothless IS the gander/golden goose, or close to it (the final image of Timothy on the goose is so *chefs kiss*) but at least in this drawing he is Hiccup’s friend and protector.
Jack Frost is a spirit, similar to PIB, the Hare, and the Fox. Stat-wise he might be closest to an celestial warlock and arcane trickster rogue (maybe an eladrin or reborn?), and his patron is of course, the Moon. His role in the Story is as an archetype, meant to support and encourage the heroes, where his wily mind and jokes can topple giants and change seasons. But without guidance from the Moon, his Corruption is that of loneliness and abandonment. He begins to learn how to be joyful again and find friendship as his journey with the others progresses.

as soon as Rapunzel was introduced in the grimmdark fairytale comedy dnd show my rotbtd-poisoned brain immediately wanted to draw the rest of the gang

Lmao several days late seeing this but better late than never I suppose
@belbeten tagged me so blame them for this
3 Ships: Ooh, okay, so I should probably go for the one I’m actually currently writing a fic for, which is Pansy x Hermione (Harry Potter, fuck jk rowling), and of course the one I used to write for; Kara x Lena (Supergirl), then idk really, probably Wednesday x Enid (Wednesday)? I’m not really involved much in fandom anymore so I barely have any ships at the moment, which is kinda strange.
First Ever Ship: KiGo (Kim Possible x Shego). We didn’t have Disney channel in my house when I was little so I only ever got to see snippets of shows at other people’s houses (we never sat down and actually watched anything because me and my friends were very weird children who hung out in graveyards and tried to commune with spirits instead of watching tv). But my family did go on holiday to somewhere with a telly that got Disney once, and I saw Kim Possible and Shego and there was absolutely no going back from there.
The first ship that ever lead me to fucking around on the internet actively looking for content for it though was Draco x Hermione, in that brief period of time where I was trying to convince myself I was straight. Never was really that into it, but I did read a hell of a lot of it.
Last Song: Dancing With Myself by Billy Idol. It’s an absolute banger.
Last Movie: I don’t remember. I really don’t watch much television; I don’t have the attention span for it. I think it might have been Spider Man; No Way Home, which I do enjoy very much, but I can’t be too sure.
Currently Reading: Book-wise, I’ve just finished Seven Wonders; The Colossus Rises by Peter Lerangis. I can’t say I recommend it. My mum got it for my brother nearly a decade ago and I’ve been meaning to read it pretty much ever since he finished with it, but just never got around to it. It was not worth the wait.
The next thing I’ve got lines up though is The Lost Plot by Genevieve Cogman, which is about a dimension-hopping librarian and is a lot of fun. It’s the 4th book in the Invisible Library series, and I’ve enjoyed all the others so I’m looking forward to this one.
Fic-wise, I’m ... okay so I really enjoy reading cringey, bad fanfiction, like My Immortal and ‘this is my OC, she’s Hiccup’s twin sister in HTTYD and she got taken away by dragons with her mum and now she’s a badass and is gonna save the world’ type stuff. Idk why, I just derive a lot of enjoyment from it. I like seeing people’s pure, unfiltered creativity on show. That being said to explain exactly why I’m reading something called ‘Weasley Magic’, in which Hermione Granger is magically married to all of the Weasley siblings and the poor story can’t decide if it wants to be a porno, or a serious breakdown and reconstruction of the magical world’s government and educational system. Every chapter gives you tonal whiplash. David Bowie is namedropped as a Muggleborn. Ginny and Harry manage to accidentally become ‘magcially bound as brother and sister’ (don’t ask, I can’t explain) and yet Ginny still ends up pregnant with his child. It’s a wild ride. I strongly recommend it.
Currently Watching: Again, I don’t really watch things. I mostly just stick youtube videos on in the background whilst I’m playing video games or doing housework. Last tv thing I watched was Vienna Blood, I think. It was pretty good.
Currently Consuming: Not currently consuming anything as I am between meals right now, but I did have a bagel with marmite for breakfast a few hours ago and am going to have a sausage roll for lunch.
Currently Craving: Cherries. God I love those things. Could consume them for days.
Uuuhh I’m supposed to tag people at this point but I’m not hopeless at doing that so... if you fancy doing this then consider yourself tagged? Sorry I’m so hopeless at this.
