Can you guys tell that I like FOPANW?

I’m kind of warming up to Jasmine, not because of her character, BUT BECAUSE SHE’S FUN TO DRAW!!

Her outfit’s cute and has personality, which I respect, and her hair is cut to show she’s wild!!

Basically whenever I don’t have a cardboard cut out idea on how to feel about a character, I measure it on how fun they are to draw, and she’s a solid 8! (Which is a lot since I love to put 7 for everything!!)

I went through this process back in let’s say 2022 when I was watching TOH due to a friend’s persistence, and drew Hunter. Beforehand, yeah he was a fun character, but after? HE JUST BECAME BETTER!!

I don’t know, maybe it’s an artist thing, but the moral of the story is—

There is no moral.

I drew it this because Dev looked SO CUTE in this scene and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to draw him.

It had nothing to do with Jasmine…😖

She didn’t like how dismissive he was, of responsibilities, of consequences, of people’s hurt. She didn’t really like him.

Rory liked Jess and she loved him. She liked that he liked the same stuff as her, liked that he’d help out his uncle without bragging, and talk with her friends, and throw literary challenges at her because he genuinely wanted her opinion. She loved his honesty, his integrity, how he’d leave her speechless with his gaze and breathless with his kisses. How he looked at her, all of her, and never made her feel like she was lacking. She liked and she loved him. And it scared her shitless.

HADES SHIP BIAS

hades && persephone: toss me persephone muses! someone come keep this hothead under control. hades might be aroace but for his wife he's just plain ace. their relationship is about trust and is rather intimate. hades shows a side to his wife that he doesn't show to anyone else.

hades && maleficent: blame KH for this ship. but also the descendants universe has them together? honestly it makes sense. she can kick his ass, and he likes it. dragon wife? give this man a dragon wife. again, ace/aro til the right person comes along.

hades && loki: please. two guys who resent their brothers? hello??? they'd try manipulating one another at first, but eventually fall into a weird friendship kinda thing? both have been burned by a 'good' guy, despite not being entirely bad themselves. norse mythos or MCU is fine by me.

Gary/linda wasn’t included because ive only ever seen ppl talk about it as a “gary is the father of one of her kids” theory and not really as a romance (though the speed with which he was ready to worship her should not be overlooked 😏)

I'm really not a villain enjoyer. I love anti-heroes and anti-villains. But I can't see fictional evil separate from real evil. As in not that enjoying dark fiction means you condone it, but that all fiction holds up some kind of mirror to the world as it is. Killing innocent people doesn't make you an iconic lesbian girlboss it just makes you part of the mundane and stultifying black rot of the universe.

"But characters struggling with honour and goodness and the egoism of being good are so boring." Cool well some of us actually struggle with that stuff on the daily because being a good person is complicated and harder than being an edgelord.

Sure you can use fiction to explore the darkness of human nature and learn empathy, but the world doesn't actually suffer from a deficit of empathy for powerful and privileged people who do heinous stuff. You could literally kill a thousand babies in broad daylight and they'll find a way to blame your childhood trauma for it as long as you're white, cisgender, abled and attractive, and you'll be their poor little meow meow by the end of the week. Don't act like you're advocating for Quasimodo when you're just making Elon Musk hot, smart and gay.

Selfship spaces, even in the current year, seem to stagnate to the 'default' of thin white person. It's jarring how, for example, a fat person will note the rising fatphobia growing in the world, and seek comfort with their F/Os, only to find all the imagines and fic and art to be thin.

It's always language that denotes thinness and whiteness in fanfiction and imagines. It's always "visible jawline", "prominent collarbones", "thin fingers", "dainty legs". It's always "carded fingers through your hair", "the pink hue of your cheeks", "button nose".

That isn't to say these don't have a place in selfship spaces. Everyone is welcome regardless of gender, race, and everything else. But thin white folk are so used to being the default, to being the only thing worth thinking about, that they don't even pay any mind to the fact their disadvantaged kin are struggling with real life oppression, and go about their day. Some will never acknowledge it, and some will acknowledge it and degrade other selfshippers for that struggle.

When you have the privilege of being the standard in real life, you forget that there are people who are mistreated because they aren't you.

So for all the fat selfshippers, the black selfshippers: You matter. You deserve fat-centric selfship spaces, you deserve black-centric selfship spaces, you deserve to have both at the same time.

It isn't "cringe", it isn't "annoying", and it isn't "entitled" to want selfship spaces to include you. You deserve to be included.
