Michael heard the tell-tale roar of a bike long before it joined him on that hill. He knew the sound of David's bike almost as much as he knew his own, a buzz low in his ears that made his body sense with static. He knew someone would come for him, though Michael had assumed all the Lost Boys would eventually be on his tail, fully prepared to drag him back to their cave kicking and screaming before the sun rose over Santa Carla. Michael had expected himself to react that way too, kicking and resisting until his skin began to burn. Or whatever it is vampires did in the sun. He learned some rules from Sam, sunlight and invitations and garlic and holy water and mirrors, a whirlwind of information that only made Michael certain of one thing: He'd never get to be human again. As David climbed up the hill and parked the bike, Michael didn't even bother to turn his head and look. The fight he'd be envisioning, some climatic final showdown in which he gave one last-change show of rejection, refusal, some unbreakable will was nowhere to be found, a dream that dissipated just like cigarette smoke. Lost into the night air. Everything was lost into that night, Michael realized. His hands loosened from around the handles and he, too, leaned back in his seat. His arms crossed in front of his chest as David spoke, his eyebrows knitting less in fury and more in subdued irritation. You'll get used to it, as if there was anything he could ever get used to. No more sunlight. No more family. No more freedom. A life restricted by the night and ruled by blood. David's instance on helping him, however, sat heavy on his head. Weighed down his thoughts - Michael had thought that true, once. In a way. He had thought David was so certain of everything, that David never asked him for more than he could give. Never asked him for anything he wasn't willing to give. Michael must've been insane for hanging off the train trestle and letting go into the fog. He figured David had done something, crawled into his head and made that trust happen, some vampire power or whatever Sam would be able to tell him about. But that trust had existed long before Michael had taken that blood. And David still caught him in the end.

" I never asked for this, " Michael repeats, his voice less heated. Just cold. He never asked nor wanted this. He wanted... something, but turning into a monster was never part of it. Michael still doesn't turn his head, almost unwilling to pry his eyes from the Boardwalk. As if its lights alone were enough to chase away the darkness.

" I didn't want this. If I knew what you all were, I never would've done any of this, " He never would have gone this far. David had asked him when they first met, ' How far are you willing to go ? ' and Michael didn't answer. David must've thought that was a good thing, no hard limits, a way to push and push until Michael was falling into whatever David wanted him to. David must have his answer now. Michael finally turns his head to David, prying his eyes away from distant lights.

" It was that night in the cave, wasn't it? Star wasn't lying when she told me it was blood, " Michael had plenty of time to think on that hill. His thoughts had raced from himself, to his family, to the Lost Boys, to vampires and blood and violence and everything in between. Michael wasn't stupid. Star had told him the truth despite how unbelievable it had been.

" Why'd you do it, David? Why did you do that to me? "

    𝖒𝖎𝖈𝖍𝖆𝖊𝖑  𝖗𝖊𝖆𝖈𝖙𝖊𝖉  𝖊𝖝𝖆𝖈𝖙𝖑𝖞  𝖍𝖔𝖜  𝖍𝖊  𝖊𝖝𝖕𝖊𝖈𝖙𝖊𝖉  𝖍𝖎𝖒  𝖙𝖔,   full  of  emotion  and  complete  outrage,  it  was  almost  disappointing  that  he  didn't  reveal  in  the  feeling  because  there  was  absolutely  nothing  like  it.   david  can't  help  but  smirk  as  he  watches  the  other  scramble  away  from,  pure   𝖉𝖊𝖓𝖎𝖆𝖑   in  his  voice  as  he  yells  at  him.   he  senses  the  others  moving  to  try  and  stop  him,  looking  back  at  them  and  shaking  his  head,   "   let  him  go.   michael  needs  a  moment  to  adjust,    "   david  tells  them,  looking  back  in  the  direction  that  michael  had  run  off  to,  hearing  the  sound  of  his  motorcycle  disappearing  off  into  the  darkness  of  night.   shaking  his  head  again,  he  knew  by  now  that  every  single  one  reacted  differently  and  all  it  took  was  some  time.   he  just  knew  that  he  had  to  find  michael  before  sunrise.

    𝖍𝖊  𝖈𝖑𝖊𝖆𝖓𝖊𝖉  𝖍𝖎𝖒𝖘𝖊𝖑𝖋  𝖚𝖕  𝖜𝖎𝖙𝖍  𝖙𝖍𝖊  𝖔𝖙𝖍𝖊𝖗𝖘,   removing  any  trace  of  blood  as  he  knows  if  he  had  any  chance  of  convincing  michael  to  come  back  with  him  tonight,  he  needed  to  not  be  a  reminder  of  something  that  clearly  he  was  trying  to  forget.   telling  the  boys  to  stay  at  the  hotel,  that  he  would  be  back  once  he  had  found  michael,  with  or  without  him.   climbing  back  onto  his  motorcycle,  kick  starting  the  engine  and  taking  off,  david  knew  that  time  was  against  him,  but  he  wasn't  ever  one  to  give  up.   he  knew    𝖊𝖝𝖆𝖈𝖙𝖑𝖞   what  he  wanted  and  michael  was  definitely  not  someone  he  was  about  to  give  up  on,  he  was  one  of  them  and  he  wasn't  going  to  let  him  be  alone.   yet  if  michael  really  thought  that  he  could  hide  from  him,  he  really  had  no  idea  about  anything  that  was  going  on.

    𝖎𝖙  𝖒𝖆𝖞  𝖍𝖆𝖛𝖊  𝖇𝖊𝖊𝖓  𝖒𝖆𝖓𝖞  𝖉𝖊𝖈𝖆𝖉𝖊𝖘  𝖘𝖎𝖓𝖈𝖊  𝖍𝖎𝖘  𝖋𝖎𝖗𝖘𝖙  𝖐𝖎𝖑𝖑,   but  it  was  something  that  he  hadn't  ever  forgotten.   the  power  he  felt,  the  thrill  he  got  from  it,   the  strength  that  was  just  something  to  be  desired  over  and  as  much  as  it  was  intense  to  wrap  his  head  around,  it  was  worth  it  for  the  chance  to  live    𝖋𝖔𝖗𝖊𝖛𝖊𝖗.   at  least  michael  didn't  have  to  deal  with  what  he  had  to  deal  with  after  his  first  kill,  his  sire  wasn't  exactly  the  most  comforting  and  he  was  going  to    𝖙𝖗𝖞   to  be  better.   as  much  as  michael  thought  he  could  hide  from  him,  there  was  no  where  he  could  go  that  david  wouldn't  be  able  to  find  him  and  it  didn't  take  long  to  locate  him  on  one  of  santa  carla's  highest  points  overlooking  the  boardwalk.   david  couldn't  help  but  wander  what  michael  must  be  thinking  right  now,  he  wanted  to  be  one  of  them,  he    𝖈𝖍𝖔𝖘𝖊   to  be  around  them  and  he  was  never  forced  to  do  anything.

    𝖇𝖗𝖎𝖓𝖌𝖎𝖓𝖌  𝖍𝖎𝖘  𝖒𝖔𝖙𝖔𝖗𝖈𝖞𝖈𝖑𝖊  𝖙𝖔  𝖆  𝖘𝖙𝖔𝖕,   killing  the  engine  right  away  and  he  leaned  back  in  his  seat,  a  small  smirk  pulling  at  his  lips  as  he  looked  over  at  him,   "   did  you  really  think  you  could  hide  from  me,  michael?    you've  got  so  much  to  learn  and  i'm  going  to  teach  everything,    "   david  shook  his  head,  hand  moving  to  his  pockets  to  pull  out  a  packet  of  cigarettes,  slipping  one  between  his  lips  and  lighting  it,  taking  a  drag  as  he  looked  over  the  view.   it  really  was  a    𝖇𝖊𝖆𝖚𝖙𝖎𝖋𝖚𝖑   spot  that  michael  had  picked,  the  view  of  the  boardwalk  was  stunning  with  the  lights  glowing  in  the  night  sky,   "   are  you  going  to  continue  to  be  dramatic  about  this?   you  can't  run  or  hide  from  what  you  are,    "   david  asked,  already  knowing  his  attempts  to  be  more  comforting  where  definitely  failing,  but  he  was  still  doing  better  than  his  sire,   taking  another  drag  of  his  cigarette,  he  looks  over  at  michael,  a  sincere  look  on  his  face,   "   i  am  going  to  help  you  with  this,  michael.   i  won't  you  be  alone,  you're  one  of  us  and  you  always  will  be   .   .   .   i  understand  it  is  a  lot  to  take  in,  but  you'll  get  used  to  it,    "   he  admits,  his  tone  actually  sincere  for  once,  not  a  trace  of  mocking  found  within  it.   david  thought  that  michael  trusted  him,  he  just  needed  to  make  sure  that  was  still  true,   "   i'm  not  leaving  without  you,  but  we  both  have  to  be  inside  before  the  sun  comes  up,    "

I think doing shipping through and aroace lens makes things complicated but also interesting. I think one reason I don't enjoy straight ships as much is because it's very rare for people write/talk about them with a queerplatonic dynamic. straight romance is so "normalized" in society, it's hard to get any other dynamic out of those ships from other people in conversation or writing. it's mostly always romantic. (especially when "guys and girls can't be *just* friends" is extremely common and has ruined mamy of my own friendships) but I enjoy a handful of a straight ship with that dynamic. it's just way more rare to see talked about than gay ones from my observation. anyway point is, more queerplatonic type ships and stuff please! those aren't explored enough!

haikyuu ships but its things about their relationships or moments that I think would surprise their friends/teammates

starting off with my boys Daisuga: honestly definitely the rest of the team forgets that they haven't been together forever, and are never expecting when either of them are acting like, well, teenagers in a relationship. Specifically in regards to being shy in front of each other or wanting to impress each other, the rest of the team always is surprised by it because in their mind, like, why are you feeling insecure in this relationship I thought you've been dating for 2 years and Suga is just like "try 3 months BITCH now I need you to find out what his favourite kind of chocolate is I'll pay you real money if he doesnt realize why you're asking."

right along to Kagehina and honestly, literally even just realizing they have a normal relationship. I think everyone absolutely understands how they got together, but I imagine the first time ANYONE sees them out in public together they ALL have a moment thats like "oh shit they like... are actually dating" and every time Kagehina is just like... on a lunch date, or going shopping, walking a dog, just chatting. Like people are surprised that they genuinely spend time together outside of sports. The first time Kageyama goes with Hinata as his date to a family wedding the entire family is flabberghasted bc they definitely thought this was an on-court obsession only

Iwaoi is really simple, literally just people realizing that Iwaizumi has genuine romantic affection towards him is the funniest thing to me. There's a week where Iwaoi is worried bc Iwa had to go to school with a hickey on his neck but literally NOBODY bats an eye or even mentions it because "yeah Oikawa obviously-" but when theyre changing for practice and they see that Oikawa has a hickey on his neck the entire team goes feral and practically tackles Iwaizumi like "you committed to kissing him for that long?????? YOU?????" like they cannot comprehend Iwaizumi actively participating. (obviously this is also the only time they every see Iwazumi embarassed enough to visibly blush which only compounds things.)

Bokuaka's is so stupid but honestly - the first moment the team realizes that Akaashi is, like, attracted to Bokuto and isnt just his best friend that got carried away. Konoha catches Akaashi checking out Bokuto's ass as he's leaving the changing room and it legitimately ruins Konoha's day. What is he supposed to do with this information.

To be completely fair, Ushiten as a concept probably absolutely baffles the entire Shiratorizawa team for multiple reasons. I think though the obvious one is that the rest of the team cannot understand how little Ushijima is bothered by any of Tendou's antics, where Tendou is VRRY touchy and goofy and lots of PDA and affection and Ushijima is completely receptive and unbothered by it, if not going out of his way to intentionally make Tendou laugh to invite him to more. Like Tendou absolutely would sit on his lap during lunch and Reon would be sitting there losing his mind bc last time he sat too close to Ushijima he got a lecture on personal space. Oh, but now suddenly he's super chill and relaxed and nothing bothers him its tendou doing it.

Asanoya's is a little sad tbh but I think, specifically the second and first years, would be surprised by how serious Noya is about the relationship and how little he tolerates jokes about them being opposites/a surprising pair or any of that. Like theyre shocked to find out how seriously he's taking being a boyfriend and really trying to make sure Asahi is happy. The idea that it isnt superficial or just for fun for him is surprising to them.

Arankita - in a comedy of errors Atsumu accidentally finds out they they are ~no longer virgins~ and legitimately has to leave practice for 20 minutes. There's a piece of him, and the rest of the team, that had 100% believed Kita was a robot and they just.... the idea that this was something that happened organically and not for "procreation" doesnt fit in their worldview. Kita smacks the next person who brings it up and that ends the conversation.

ok but seriously, they’re vastly different characters on a fundamental level:

- light was handed everything him on a silver platter: family, friends, looks, intellect, a comfortable life… as a bastard child of a sex worker and now an orphan, goro had to fight his way to his current position and will always harbor a terrible sense of inferiority (light is completely confident in his absolute superiority, Always (that’s why the challenge of L sent him off the deep end of obsession lol))

- light genuinely sees himself as a hero, while goro would like to feel the same but is nonetheless depressingly aware of his villain’s journey (his undesirable position as the detective vs the underdog phantom thieves, his string of assassinations, his ultimate dirty bloody goal, etc.).

- light’s motive is about the world’s salvation, cleansing, the birth of his ideal reality (very messianic of him with the slightest loving tinge of mary cradling her lamb hahaha) while goro is laser-focused on ruining this one asshole’s life in particular, vengeance and revenge at once! one’s focused on rebirth, and the other gunning straight for death! they both use murder to get what they want but light probably floats around thinking himself so clean and divine as mother of the world (ignorance is bliss) while goro is constantly desperately trying to cover up his suspiciously red hands with his gloves hehehe… they’re both constantly striving for perfection, just with varying levels of self-awareness!!

- goro is a canonical loner; light has a horde of friends; this is probably due to a difference in public persona! goro is an untouchable idea of what he thinks a human should be and is completely out of the loop when it comes to normal social interactions (believes opening with hegel will instantly endear himself to the average person (luckily he inflicted that upon akira who is decidedly not average in the slightest)), light is implied to be more down-to-earth and even slightly goofy (he’s gaming decorum like an advanced speedrunner)! it’s probably good how distant goro is, because getting any closer to him will allow you to see how off-putting and uncanny he is, sorta like an AI-generated image—seams in the wrong places and far too much teeth LOL. meanwhile light has this whole shebang so thoroughly figured out that he’s BORED with it all! he’d like to move on to the next game (with L), thank you!! light definitely still exudes uncanny creepiness (it’s his natural state of being) especially when he zones out or starts hysterically cackling out of nowhere at his own thoughts, but he’s a hundred times better at masking compared to goro due to a better upbringing. goro is starved for the adoring friends he sees akira easily picking up one after another; light couldn’t give less of a shit because he’s always had those trivial luxuries! he’d much rather prefer an adoring WORLD!!

- then there’s the difference in how they die… one started out surrounded with company but ultimately died alone, while it’s the opposite for the other (if you count the de-realization of maruki’s reality as goro’s “death” (which i don’t)).

- in conclusion, light and goro are like funhouse mirror reflections of each other!!! one is a pampered lapdog getting a taste of rabies and letting loose, while the other is a starving wolf trying to domesticate itself for treats and headpats!! and i <3 them both!!!!!

“Do you think this would look alright here?” you ask, stretching your arm as high as you can to pin the middle of the leafy garland to the wall. 

Lily hums contemplatively. “I don’t think that’s quite the middle. A bit to the left?”

You reach leftwards, tottering on your stepping stool, and Remus steadies you with his hands at your waist before you can fall. 

“Here, I’ve got it,” he offers, encouraging you to step down and taking your place. He makes the reach look easy (it’s hardly a reach for him, you suppose), taping the garland in place. “How’s that?” he asks, and you step back beside Lily, assessing. 

“It looks great,” you decide. “Thanks!” 

“‘Course, love.” He grins at you as he steps down, going back to dusting off your mantle. You’re immensely grateful for your friends’ help, the quiet between you companionable as you each work on your tasks, your Rumours record playing softly in the corner. You’d been a bit down about cleaning and decorating your first apartment all by yourself, and Lily had all but invited herself over, offering to keep you company. This morning, she’d shown up with Remus and a bucket full of cleaning supplies, and neither of them would hear your protests about not wanting them to labor for you. Remus had become immediately obsessed with all the dusty surfaces you’ve yet to clean since moving in a week ago, and Lily claims she’s going to make cookies after she’s finished cleaning the oven, so your apartment will smell cozy and homey. 

You’re not sure how you managed to snag such fantastic friends, but just as you’re about to tell them so for the upteenth time since they’ve arrived, your door creaks open. 

“You can’t just leave the front door unlocked,” James says, aghast. “You’re a young girl living on your own, shortcake. Exercise some caution.” 

Sirius breezes by James with a small box in his hands, and you accept the one-armed hug he offers you with faint confusion. Your friends are welcome anytime, but you hadn’t been expecting anyone other than Lily today and you worry the apartment is far from guest-ready. “I usually lock it,” you defend yourself. “It’s just that we’ve been in and out all morning. Anyway, who’s going to murder me with everyone here?” 

“Well, they won’t now that I’m here,” James allows, pecking you on the cheek amicably. “But if you were thinking Lily and Moony could defend you all by themselves, then I’m even more worried about you.” He receives matching exasperated glares from your friends, but ignores them, surveying the apartment. “This is a nice place you’ve got here.” 

“Thanks.” You beam, proud of your little apartment. It had been a bit run-down when you’d first moved in, but the morning’s efforts have really brightened the space. “Did you come by to see it? I’m not sure it’s quite ready for a tour yet, unless you’re alright with dust.”

“A lot,” Remus says wearily, “of dust.” 

“We thought we’d bring you a housewarming gift,” Sirius says, opening the lid of the box to reveal a cake. In cursive frosting, it reads Congratulations, graduate!, but someone’s struck through graduate and scrawled, in messy writing underneath, homeowner. 

You laugh. “Thanks, that’s so sweet! Um, you guys know I’m renting this place, right?”

“We know,” Sirius agrees. “But apparently they only do custom writing if you order, like, way in advance, and we didn’t have enough room to put congratulations on your first big girl apartment ourselves.” 

Remus snorts, but immediately begins sneezing after inhaling some dust from the mantle, and Lily comes over to admire the cake. “I think it’s lovely as it is,” she says, and you hastily agree. You love it, and you love them all the more for it, your sweetheart friends. “Still, Remus and I have been here all morning, so I think our housewarming gift is a bit better.” 

James laughs disbelievingly. “What’s your gift?”

“Cleaning and decorating,” Remus says, having recovered from his fit. “Bit more of a time commitment than a cake.” His voice takes on a slight haughtiness, and Lily smirks. 

“What, all day?” Sirius shakes his head. “That takes ten seconds.” 

“Not the muggle way,” Lily says. 

Sirius’ eyebrows shoot up, and James’ gaze sweeps over the room more intentionally, lingering on the unswept floor, the decorations still in their boxes. “Why in Merlin’s name would you do it the muggle way?” he sounds vaguely horrified. “We could charm this done right now.” 

Sirius nods, sliding his wand from his sleeve as if he intends to do just that, but you clamp a hand around his wrist. “That takes all the fun out of it!” 

“Dollface,” Sirius says slowly, looking at you like you’ve lost it, “how is laboring all morning to accomplish what could be done with a simple spell fun?”

You wave your hands about, gesturing vaguely to the room at large. “I don’t know, it’s about the simple things. You listen to music, and do things the slow way, and you get to choose where your stuff goes instead of letting the spell choose for you.” 

“And,” Lily adds, “it’s satisfying to know that you did it yourself. Like these cookies, which are going to be way better than if I charmed them to bake themselves.” She pauses, glancing at the cake. “By the way, you’re going to have a ton of sweets on your hands, Y/N.” 

“Oh, I was under no impression I’d be eating all this by myself,” you say, somewhat appalled. “Won’t you guys stay and help me with them? I can get us takeaway.” 

Sirius and James help with more than that. Neither of them will touch a broom (frankly, they have trouble wrapping their heads around the idea that some are used for more than flying), but they help you arrange your fake pumpkins on the newly dusted mantle, and bicker over whether they should charm your candles to float like in the great hall or leave them on the coffee table. 

By the time you make good on your offer of ordering takeaway, almost every crevice of your apartment has been cleaned, and it’s smelling like cookies and looking seasonally festive. Remus nips to the store to get a couple bottles of wine for you all, and you and James end up sitting on the floor to eat while Lily declares she’s taking you shopping for more chairs tomorrow. The cake is fantastic, but the company is better, and of all the things you’d wanted to decorate your first apartment with, you think you like filling it with your friends best.

exploding into a thousand tiny little bits actually the red team is soooo pack bonded right now. they r blood brothers they did not commit ritualistic sacrafices just to not latch onto each other for life and become soulmates forever. i can only imagine. like.

phil, baghera, and jaiden give the rest of the team (that are present and willing; mainly charlie, cellbit, and foolish) a crash course on how to preen wings in case another bird isn't there to help. phil gets real sad sometimes when helping jaiden or baghera so they help 'preen' in other ways (pulling chunks of dirt/blood out of his hair and ear feathers when they see them, insisting on including him (and cellbit) in a """manicure night""" (they are just scraping the dirt from under their fingernails with their other fingernails/sticks and using rocks to file).

charlie takes requests on which team to hack into (because his code nonsense lets him switch frequencies and infiltrate the other teams' calls very easily) so people can spy on their other people. phil often asks to know what missa is up to. cellbit obviously asks about roier, and sometimes uses charlie as a middleman to pass messages to his guapito. baghera asks him to check on the other frenchies and often shouts at them through his mic when they're getting on her nerves. if anyone dares bring up her friendship with bbh and why she never asks of him she gives them a facefull of BOLAS??!? bbh slander.

carre is (jokingly) borderline worshipped whenever he wakes up. it becomes an instant confidence boost and is oftentimes the only time you see the entire team trying to gain percentages or kill other teams.

they spill entirely too many secrets to each other too casually. they are going to end the two weeks and some of them will know more about some of them than their spouses do. day one cellbit was admitting to murder and basically admitted to being a cannibal. it only gets worse.

they mostly take getting killed in stride unless it's by a) tubbo b) bbh or c) if someone decides to do it over and over again. BOLAS??!? hatred is unlike normal hatred. if they hate you you will feel unsafe going into the wilderness because They Will Just Lurk There in a group and jump you for no reason other than pettiness. charlie slimecicle literally ran across an entire island to chase bbh with no food no water and Mid tools and armour. for like five minutes. out of blind rage and spite.

can you tell i love red team im obsessed with them they are going to know each other on such a deep and intrinsic level in two weeks their romantic partners are literally going to get jealous. like. i'm not 100% on what happens around here (lbr we all know my focus is the kids) but i'm currently thinking they nearly get caught or smthn, fight happens (??), Obi-wan gets there just in time to help thanks to Dormé snitching -- and Padmé goes into labour w the shock/stress

whatever exactly happens, Obi-Wan is there when they get Padmé to a medical station and the normal rots ending group unite. Padmé gives birth (keeping her will to live) and a question hangs heavy in the air: what are they supposed to do with the twins?

Anidala are too caught up in the joy of being parents to think about it, but they're quickly and forcibly snapped out of that when the Survivors all have a chat like canon. Yoda's the (brave) one to say they need to be apart because their force signatures would be too strong together and in the dire case Palps finds them, he could NOT take both. He's probs initially like they shouldnt even be kept w you two, Anakin's too powerful himself and Padmé you're too visible (while I imagine Bail and Obi-wan know their respective besties and are like king they are NOT gonna take that well)

and theyre right! Padmé, fresh out of like three of the top ten most harrowing experiences of her life, is like stfu u little green bitch im not losing my kids. but after some convincing she sees the need for her to remain in the senate and anakin's need to fight/run. she knows they can't fight the empire effectively together and she knows it's too dangerous to put the twins together. both parents want more than ANYTHING to be with their kids -- but they also don't want their kids growing up in a galaxy eaten by tyranny or being stolen by palps.

so they made the hardest goddamn decision of their lives and each take a twin (probably chosen on "anakin thought the baby'd be a girl/padme thought it'd be a boy" or smthn) and after some time planning their next moves, Padmé and Anakin are forced to go their separate ways to save the galaxy for and with their kids ): knowing the better they fight, the sooner they free the galaxy from the empire's clutches, the sooner they can reunite and be a family

hello recently i did this poll and i said id give my thoughts on it (also bc mutuals encouraged me to do so) so here goes!! gonna cover multiple avenues of platonic or romantic or (it's complicated) ottosuba <3

1. brothers

not a personal fav of mine but i really dig it though i get the appeal :3 bc like ottosuba are Clearly garfiel's older brothers (stated explicitly in rezero canon) but also i just really dig emilia camp's found familyisms and the three idiots are one of my favorite trios in rezero ever!! so the natural conclusion is to round out the trio and make ottosuba found family brothers also which is while not an interpretation i turn to right away i think its really really sweet!! and also platonic obsession ottosuba is a real win bc neither of them are normal about any relationship ever. but especially with each other (from otto's end). a solid 7/10.

2. purely platonic bffs

this is like their official canon relationship right? and also they define their relationship as them being friends and its great!!! also most subarus - otto if subaru is a tiiiinyy tiny bit debatable - but subaru generally we know for sure doesnt like otto romantically while ottos is just hes Down Bad but what Flavor of down bad? but anyway - i love deep friendships!! i love ottosubas own flavor of freak4freak..... platonic obsession........... <333 </333 their friendship is important to me!! its the basis of their whole dynamic!! they love each other so much!! 9/10.

3. queerplatonic

queerplatonic is like. theyre platonic mixed in with the expectations youd have for traditional romantic relationships - the nature of the qpr varies on the people within them of course and i think itd be a super interesting avenue to take ottosuba down. bc i think like in general as they are now in main route especially theyd want to stick with each other for life. they are platonically married to Me. ottoemisuba are a trio too and ottos their biggest supporter (to sometimes concerning degrees but the emilia camp found familyisms matter to Me). i definitely think otto if ottosuba veers into this category or in future categories on this list and im super fond of this take because i am of the personal opinion that ottosuba are like. found family but in a queer way, as @saphiim said in her tags on the reblog of the poll HAH. so queerplatonic ottosuba is fun to me i really enjoy it. and i definitely think otto if could fit under this category (or other categories later in the list). 9/10.

4. schrödinger’s relationship (platonic or romantic???? they dont know/elaborate)

so like. again, ottosubas friendship is super important to me and the basis for the love in their dynamic. it's how they define themselves too. and so schrodinger's relationship is like - they call each other friends they Are friends but theres not more definition other than that that they explicitly say. or - they may not even 100% know what their feelings on each other is, like they might be like oh hes my friend - and then, as it happens irl sometimes, have like a sort of situationship where they arent sure if theyre feelings on each other past that is fully platonic or romantic or what have you.

i think it's a really relatable take that id love to see more in fiction but also in ottosuba - its the default that i try to go to when i write them in a lot of my ottosuba fics where they just dont fully define their relationship past being Close Friends or theres like a loooot of confusion once they go to the core of their relationship. and i think arguably... Debatably... schrodingers relationship IS how otto's end of ottosuba goes. and arguably otto if ottosuba and stuff like gluttony if ottosuba does have the schrodingers relationship going a bit. i think with the schrodingers relationship take though subarus more firmly in the We're Friends end (but with subarus brand of unhinged codependency of course), though i dont think subaru would really dwell on it either or itd get Complicated for him too, but otto's like more confused from the get go. do i love subaru platonically or romantically? what counts as romantic? i know subaru is My Friend. but idk much else other than that. like i just Really Really Like Him and would do Anything for him. im just not gonna touch it other than him being my friend that i would do anything ever for and would like to spend the rest of my life with.

but subarus got a lot to deal with (and is prettyyy attracted to emijuli) and also otto "i could never date a woman she wouldnt be my first priority" suwen and otto "i have avoidant attachment lol" suwen who knows emisuba especially has a thing (and is an emisuba stan) wouldnt really try anything. dude just would never voice much of his feelings on subaru other than "you're my friend" and "i'm glad to have you back", partly bc otto wouldnt know much about his feelings other than that, partly bc otto would have a crisis about it if he touched it for too long and he already has a crisis about subaru’s hero complex. anyway 10/10 this is my favorite ottosuba take HAH. i like the tension of a fictional relationship being in stasis like this and i like how much you can read into it!! this feels to me like the canon basis for ottosuba as well that acknowledges all sides of it!! (their friendship, the unknown queer tension…)

5. it’s complicated (romantic)

this one is you know the one a lot of shippy ottosuba fancontent goes with - the straightforward but not straight romance. it's also the one that gets like brought up a few times in otto qnas - people asking if ottos subarus wife (the answer was no), people asking if ottos gay for subaru (the answer was not really, which is.... a little sus LMFAO). there's also a few other details that you could easily interpret as romantic in nature or at the very least Kinda Queer (otto clearly getting Some Kind of Crush on Subaru in arc 4, otto repeatedly bringing up subaru in his narration in his dialogue in his diary etc etc, the canon "otto is my side toy" arc 4 wn line, the canon "otto are you gay for roswaal lol dont come for me" arc 4 wn line, otto transphobia feeling a Bit too personal, remsuba parallels, otto if.. also those Two Times otto reaaaally sounded like he moaned subarus name in his sleep, etc).

i have written ottosuba romance before and gone a little into how sexual attraction might look there (also my otto bdsm posts exist...), though i do think that as an asexual person im gonna end up being asexual about my ottosuba writing too LMFAO. but also i personally enjoy a bit of asexuality a bit of aromanticism in my ottosuba because thats what i hc from otto for Reasons. but i do enjoy ottosuba romance a lot either way. i think in main route its definitely one sided and in otto if it is. Debatable. and gluttony if is very interestingly ottosuba-centric the Entire way through. like otto if’s subaru dreaming about otto naked and inviting subaru to bathe with him + repeated use of "partners" for ottosuba + remsuba parallels is Super Intriguing. also the. uhhhh boytoy stuff in main route is really really funny. but also the angst in possible otto’s never voiced unrequited crush on subaru is really interesting to me (also bc ottos just. Obsessed. with subaru.) but also the bittersweetness of it bc he does want emisuba to be happy and would 1000% be best man at their wedding. 8/10.

6. it’s complicated (romantic but Asexual)

this is what i default to when writing ottosuba romance even if its not super explicit in my own fics HAH. in my. ottosuba smut fic..... i was going with the intention of otto having a (demi)sexual awakening T^TT with a bit of demiromanticism T^T and otto asexuality + aromanticism is something i go into in a few other fic wips of mine though at the time of this post they are not done yet. i do hc otto as either demisexual - or simultaneously on three A spectrums at once HAH (aromanticism, asexuality, autism, the later of which Is canon), so that does kinda translate whenever i write him anyway even if ive never said it explicitly. anyway i like this take. im fond of it. 9/10.

7. it's complicated (Aromantic + Asexual)

NOW THIS IS DELICIOUSSS i do think theres something queer going on with ottosuba - otto's end of it specifically - but MANN aroace otto hits on a different level for me. i really really love exploration of aro and or ace relationships like this in media esp as an ace person - idk if im aro but i really really like aro stories and the exploration of aroace otto. firstly bc i think its funny that he has the aroace color palette in his design but secondly bc i think otto AT LEAST being asexual makes sense to me.

i think schrodinger's relationship would have to be like. the basis of all the romance tinged ottosuba takes in different ways. its the basis of platonic friends ottosuba too probably but its Gotta be the basis of (a)romantic ottosuba. queer relationships queer love is tough and i think for subaru it comes in more with like the guys hes Really attracted to - vincent, reinhard, julius, and of course subaru has his subaru typical issues but for subaru, otto's his best friend. otto is "simpler" for subaru to deal with. otto is dependable. (this of course will bite subaru in the ass later on in main route.) for otto i think though he has like. his autism comes into this, his slight attachment issues too, and then theres ottos shame (see: otto transphobia), but also genuinely i think otto needs to be close to people to develop any sort of romantic or sexual feelings if At All.

ottos main crush is like. a cat. that he was friends with as a child. and theres kind of not much mention of any other crushes except for like one (1) blink and you miss it human girl. which you could interpret in different ways probably (kid otto genuinely having a crush on the cat and the girl vs picking one of his friends or someone he just admired from afar and going “this must be a crush! normal people have crushes!”). tappei in qnas says spring (romance) wont come for otto which you can interpret in a number of ways (otto is gay for subaru? otto aromanticism? etc etc). and then theres otto saying he cant date someone bc she wouldnt be his first priority (a woman, bc otto has got that societal cisheteronormativity going on and that paired with his neurodivergence and anxiety is him trying very hard to be "normal"). of course you can chalk some of this up to otto's kinda self imposed slight-isolation too but genuinely otto to me reads like someone who feels like he needs to get married to a woman and have kids bc thats whats expected of him to do. thats the "right" thing to do. and he's not Supposed to dress up as a woman or like dressing up as a woman or approve of subaru doing that bc thats the "wrong" thing to do.

and otto of course going "im too busy rn for a relationship i got other shit to do" can be his slight avoidant attachment stuff too or him prioritizing subaru/emilia camp (and also otto genuinely prioritizing his career)... but yeah he does read to me like someone who isnt. Completely. Allosexual or Alloromantic. it's even easier for him to go "nah im not getting too close to people i dont want a romantic relationship rn" bc of that, i feel.

well also like i think the entanglement of ottos autism, aromanticism, asexuality, avoidant attachment and other struggles in his relationships in general is a really fascinating combo and it feels REAL. this is the kind of aroace rep i want in my life. its so complicated and nuanced and i Really Really Dig It.

also tappei says otto canonically has a type in woman and ironically all of those traits are traits subaru has HAH. so like. regardless of whats going on with ottos side of ottosuba i think its Really Complicated. i think that subaru is pretty oblivious to a lot of it. also bc otto would rather subaru not know about any of the details there. and also bc otto doesnt 100% Know what the hell hes feeling about subaru other than the fact that subarus his friend that he really loves. and again if otto looked at it too closely he’d start an alcoholism speedrun any %.

anyway. i really adore aroace otto. i think i mentioned in a past post that i like demisexual biromantic otto too i just never went into depth about my ace and/or aro hcs until now. but yes i really adore aroace ottosuba - even in otto if, otto is enthusiastic about shipping emisuba together LJDLFJDF which is both hilarious and really sweet and you could interpret it in different ways. you could interpret ottosuba in a lot of ways and aroace ottosuba in a lot of ways which makes it super fun for me!!!! a very solid 10/10.

Cheongryeo himself is such an interesting character. I find that he is so incredibly well written and thats amazing.

Usuallg people depict a lot of psychos as the innocent ^^ expression guys. And thats fun and all and i very much still enjoy him being depicted that way but i love that he definetely gives of more :) energy to me.

Like hes not mean? Hes actually pretty nice to people around him as far as it seems with how positive his image is that people are comfortable featuring him with puppies. You dont do that with people known to be cruel as far as i know and hes actually overall quite a decent and nice guy. And he has had a long enough career that even after the regression time period he could get ruined.

And his relationship with his members arent hostile either! Theyre have a bit of distance between them but its not because hes particularly mean. His dynamic with them is just more so of a leader and normal members in the sense of the person in charge + everyone else but not to the extent of a boss or superior.

But the thing is that they are also quite intimidated by him. I think part of it at least is unconciously or conciously his single minded drive to be the best idol for the longest time possible. Its not bad... its just unsettling and we as the reader know for a fact why but they dont at first so its like they just see a guy with such a single minded driven focus that has probably made a lot of unreasonable decisions that help them unexpectedly and he doesnt seem to care for much else.

He had no life outside of idol work and not in the same way as moondae who seems to merge idol work with his life. Moondae tends to more have his idol life bleed into his non idol life and that develops into less idol life and more his general life and thats a great comparison i think to cheongryeo who literally only has idol life. It seems explainable to us because we know the context but to them they see a guy not just buried in work but have a complete lack of life outside of it. (And i know context makes a difference because of the impact it has in mostly later chapters but ill get to that later)

And he doesnt even know what to do outside of idol work when he starts to learn to be a person again! I think thats very telling of how he acts. Because he has based every bit of himself on idol work he has nothing left and has no idea where to start. And its probably a bit unsettling to have someone so focused on their career that they have just nothing else. Not in a oh no this was like his like shtick thing way but just completely non existent.

I think that single minded focus is at least unconciously intimidating or unsettling even if they dont notice. Because people are like plants with several branches, grows in unrefined and crossing over each other and changeable with sticks but cheongryeo only has this one branch, his idol life, and its his everything. He doesnt even seem that connected to the metaphorical trunk which would be his pre regression time! He has this one branch with these few sticks because he keeps cutting off everything he deems 'trash' (as like his characteristic). He only stops after his forgotten 101th probably because of his subconscious making him redo a large part if not his whole perspective. And even then its still just a single branch, still just his idol life. He only really gets other branches in his life after all his regressions when he gets kongi. (I could elaborate more but again later)

This leads me into his obsession. Because idol work was literally his entire life and has been his actual lifeline for so long he knows nothing else. So when he finds out the next person (moondae) he obsesses over it. Because in a way he is still obsessing over a perfect idol career even if hes not working on the assumption that he would return too.

As long as someone can go back even if its not him he would always have a chance to perfect his idol career.

oh my GOD A BATJOKES ASK. anyway. it was telltale batman. like even lego batman was too silly for me to even care and out of every version of batjokes, i think lego batman falls flat for me. WHEN I FOUND TELLTALE BATMAN IT CHANGED MY LIFE. when i played that game it was the catalyst for my love for dc. ive never seen more tragic gay people in my life. in telltale instead of the joker being a maniac, it goes off of that idea that he doesn't have a backstory and basically his role is switched with harley. harley is the joker and joker is more harley, including the obsessive love and abusive tendencies. joker is likable guy, hes actually just genuinely mentally ill with a few identifiable illnesses. when he gets nervous, he laughs, he doesnt like to be blamed for things, hes sometimes irrational and jumps to conclusions but theres moments where hes just trying to do some good even though hes not taken seriously. its somewhat relatable even. if you pick a curtain route you get a curtain ending which entails that bruce tries so hard to make the joker something hes not. just the fact that he tries SO hard to keep his code while having joker has basically a glorified robin. theres so many basic romance tropes and honestly, i argue that they were genuinely in love with each other in that game because if you reject selina you get scenes with joker instead and the game dev comfirmed that joker is bi in the game and batman's whatever you make him. watching their relationships and the concepts of their character clash in such a tragic way and then the ending where it all was just like..." whyd we even do this, it was bound to blow up like this... " like they had to prove something to themselves which brought both of them down in the most tragic way. WHEN I

ok ok i would say - highly dependent on who is asking and when. early on, definitely more hostility between the two of them but also understanding of the dangers of even admitting to their existence so you'd get a 'who?' from both atp. BUT were they to be asked later on - particularly as jackass regains some memories for herself etc - the answers* would probably be something like:

shiloh would broadly jackass as its 'buddy' (rather than, say, parasite lol) who also lives up to her name. a more detailed or serious discussion would probably highlight her higher social drive and tendency to behave as though she can still escape her actions by switching hosts (probably with less delicate wording) as well as her 'pointless' obsession with her past.

jackass would describe shiloh as a 'bit of a miserable host', but might be hesitant to give an actual description, being of less inclination to gossip than shiloh. beyond that, she finds it somewhat upsettingly cavalier with its bodily safety (who do you think got em chopped in half eh) and very eager to ""be helpful""

*must be noted that due to their mental connection its pretty much impossible to meaningfully keep 'secrets' from one another and don't have 100% separate senses of self regardless, so descriptions are given partially from inside each others' head so to speak. (additionally, the link means that their instincts and personalities 'leak' into one another a lot. pot calling kettle black etc)

short answer - irrelevant, since the other option is To Die.

long answer - fundamental context of the interpersonal aspect of the relation ship is that they were at one point Literally Mixed Together spiritually and physically, and cannot separate fully in either respect without actually for real dying. at different points they handle this differently. for shiloh, the physical part isn't as much of an issue as they 100% think that their situation is normal for colony infestation, so their issue is mostly with jackass as, like, a person. it wishes it had more privacy (and probably more memories too) but ultimately isnt all that fussed over the whole business - its uncomfortable that the shirt is glued on, but its not an ugly shirt and doesnt itch, yk? for jackass...... well. shiloh was dead before the fuse, and wasnt really expecting much (being dead you see) but jackass had a life, outside plans, etc, that were completely stripped from her afterward, including her fundamental instinctual(?) ability to leave or posses hosts at will. on a mental level her relationship with shiloh cost her her memories, but on a mechanical level it literally removed her ability to, like, move (and breed but like who gives a fuck truly. not jackass at least). on top of that, she actually knows that what happened is extremely wrong and technically impossible, so it feels doubly unnatural to be constrained that way. she doesnt exactly resent shiloh for it, since its not like they could have done it on purpose, but certainly her frustration bleeds into their relationship in the earlier times. definitely, sometimes she thinks about how much of a worse lot she got out of the whole situation, and wishes kind of passively that she could do something about it, but realistically even if it were possible, it would probably kill shiloh, and at this point she isnt willing to let it die for that. generally speaking most of the issues were more along the lines of learning to live with a new roommate i guess. certainly their relationship as it stands is more comfortable than being in the permanent state of extreme overstimulation and disorientation that they were int before their consciousnesses re-separated.

again, given that theyre partially melded mentally, it's pretty hard to get any closer, and probably there are some times where one or the other wishes for privacy etc but well. as i said. its that or Fucking Die

could you talk more about what your geese are like and what its like to own them? ive been so obsessed with them lately and theyre so silly to me :3

Oh hell yeah I'll talk about my geese any day

Geese are really, really silly. A lot of people find them scary, but they can be very sweet and extremely loyal.

My geese will follow me everywhere. If I walk from one side of the land to the other, at a slow pace, they will typically follow in a slow line behind me. During late summer and early fall when green grass is more scarce, I like to take them to parts of the lot that they haven't been to in a while so they can keep up on their greens :3.

If I'm not the one leading, Sebastian, the gander of the group, takes on that role. I took these pictures today, and he was feeling particularly protective of the hens while I was taking these pictures (I was doing really close up pics, something I don't normally do so I don't blame him.) When a goose, especially a gander, is being protective of something, they always position themselves between you and what they're protecting.

Something else people don't realise about geese is that they pay really close attention to body language. A lot of attacks from geese are because people start acting weird around them. They take this like, "this human is not acting like how humans usually act, so I feel uncomfortable." Especially in early spring when they have babies.

...But also, they like to check people. They check every living thing around them more often than not, because they get bored easily and have fun asserting themselves. When alone they do this to each other, but if you're new around, they will try and fuck with you. And if you react how they want, which is usually in backing away, flinching, or even sometimes they're looking for a fight so approaching them the wrong way as well, they will keep going until you're chased off.

Sometimes I use my geese to keep my chickens safe, because getting occasionally pestered by a goose for straying into their grazing grounds keeps them closer together and near their coop, and out of sight of eagles and hawks.

But what's really funny, is if you just... ignore them, as long as you aren't walking towards something they're protective of and you aren't showing signs of stress, they just stop. They fail to check you and that's that, and unless you've really pissed them off beforehand, they'll forget about it. I have a tiny, clueless chicken named Sloppy Joe who doesn't read body language well at all. So whenever a goose checks her they never succeed, because she's too busy not paying attention to notice she's being challenged.

The center focus goose in this picture is Gertrude, or who I like to call Gerdy (I think of Binding of Isaac's boss Gerdy), and she's been especially funny lately.

My geese aren't ever thrilled about being picked up so I don't tend to upset them with holding them if I don't have a reason to. But lately, Gerdy doesn't leave the pen when they're let out. She gets vocal and upset that everybody left without her, and she paces by the gate. There's no reason for this. So I've been picking her up and helping her out, and when she's put back down she happily runs to go meet up with the others, it never fails.

I think she's just been wanting attention. When I first got her she was always a lot more tolerant to being touched and handled. She also likes to stand very close to me and stare at me and shake her head. (Head shaking can be fear, a threat, or excitement. It's hard to tell which it is, but I know her. She's giddy.)

I've been taking their pleasant mood in as much as I can lately, because when December rolls around, they start getting into their pre-mating season funk. Sebastian is a short fuse and the hens are hissy even before they start laying eggs 🙄

I usually have to avoid sitting on the hill like this during mating season, because Sebastian is so unpredictable during those months. But it was nice today and everybody was in a good mood :).
