I have tried making this into a big post a million times but. As an aromantic I relate a lot to ships from older pieces of literature or media like. spirk is the best example probably. those dudes clearly care about each other. It’s never explicitly defined, but subtext that makes it easy for the audience to read that they have feelings of love for each other. But that lack of it being explicit—that lack of defining what type of love that is—friendship? brotherhood? romance?—is what makes it so special to me. I can see my own desire for a connection within the two of them without applying romance to it. I want to be important to someone else, I want to be their companion.
