Everybody NEEDS to listen to the new Wild Life retrospective on Imp and Skizz's podcast. They got Grian called in and they give so many cool insights into the series (and honestly say so many things I think people need to hear)

Highlights for me:

Grian designed each wild card to be weaponized and wanted everyone to take advantage of them. He goes over each individually and all the thought he put into them and all the work the backend team put into their execution. He's rightfully really proud of them. Him gushing about Trivia Bot and how excited he was to show his friends the "coolest snail ever" is particularly sweet.

Skizz says discovering each wild card was a LOT of fun. He says something like "I can't believe as an adult I get to have so much fun." Impulse is really impressed with the execution of each, citing stuff like making it rain when the time one activated and the passive mobs spawning in before being replaced, and how the little details like that built excitement and tension.

Grian says how he understands that some viewers maybe just want more seasons of the essentially the same series, ie six seasons of just Third Life, but it's more important to him that the Lifers get to experience something new and fresh. He also doesn't like comparing each series, preferring to consider each one as its own thing.

Impulse can't wait to do another Life series, Skizz is equally excited but tries to hold discussion about it back since he doesn't want anyone pressuring Grian, who is palpably burned out. Like, you can hear how tired this man is. Grian says there will probably be more series since everyone is still enjoying it, but he's not trying to outdo himself and not to expect him to keep escalating.

Skizz always tries to do something new each season yet feels like he always falls back into the same habits and dynamics, but not this time: he feels like he got to explore a new dynamic with the Spanners and had a blast doing it. He and Grian gush about how much fun they had with their "big brother trying to keep his little brothers alive" routine.

They have a grand time making fun of Impulse and his "Sweats". Impulse is unabashedly still hungry to win a series.

Impulse didn't want to kill zombie Skizz, because of the five minute cooldown, but Skizz makes clear that he was really happy with being a zombie, even if there was a lot of doing nothing in between summons. He says it means a lot to him that he got to help with the burden of facilitating the series, even just a little bit.

Grian gives good insight into his personal life strategy: he does some things to deliberately test his relationship with other players. Standing in the Danger Zone was a trust exercise, testing Jimmy and Scar. Jimmy and Scar failed.

Despite Scar failing the trust exercise, Grian heard the disappointment in Scar's voice about the Snail Bot thing and immediately caved, but he's really happy that it led them to in-canon reconciling and becoming strong allies again.

Grian's favorite moment was making Jimmy pay for the failed trust exercise by blowing up the bunker, particularly pleased with his one liner of "it was always gonna be like this". He says Wild Life as a whole has been the most enjoyable series for him, even though he didn't get to have as much fun as the other players due to knowing all the wild cards.

All three of them gush over the scene of everybody failing to kill Joel as he teleports around, laughing about how it was straight out of a movie or an anime. Impulse feels like Joel took his superpower to a new level, but Grian reminds him the he didn't have an army chasing him around trying to kill him. They're all super impressed with how the finale turned out.

Some of the powers were assigned (Cleo, BigB, BDubs, Scar, Lizzie), some were random (Impulse, Martyn). Some were based on players' names, others on their personal narratives, but coming up with ~16 different powers without including any that would just be exploited for cheap instakills was really difficult, which is why there were so many espionage ones. Hilariously, Grian was hoping Scar would accidentally kill Jimmy by punching him off a cliff because of their ritual of trying punching in the earlier episodes. He also gave Scar that power because he knew Scar wouldn't feel bad about killing people with it.

Grian chose to give himself the mimic so he could show people how their powers worked if he needed to, and so that it wasn't given to somebody else who'd have to spend the whole session figuring out the mechanics of 15 separate superpowers and potentially dying because of it. And because he thinks its the coolest one and he wanted it (lol)

All around there's tons of fun details and stuff in this episode of the podcast and absolutely everybody should listen to it all the way through.

keralis couldn't join and no one noticed for a bit

xisuma fell in lava and almost died in the first five minutes

mumbo had to do the introduction (and he claims he know the least of what is going on)

gem's game was glitching with falling blocks

ren set up the coop caving only to be the only one to die

impulse (skizz's best friend) killed skizzleman as the first kill (not death) in demise

after that:

grian is obsessed with fishing to get a mending book and can't get one in over 4000 attempts when impulse got one in under 20

mumbo dying to phantoms rather than the complicated trap set up for when he came back from afk

scar seeing the trap cub set and activating it while laughing about how he wouldn't fall for it (and losing all his resources)

Grian: Unconventional. A lot of vowels. Reads a bit awkward but he's enthusiastic and he's got the spirit. Bonus points for him actually trying to pronounce it out loud. 7.6/10

Etho: Superb. Wide variety of letters, good mix of vowels and consonants, good length, variety of letters from different rows of the keyboard. You can tell he really committed. Minor points off for containing the word grip since it catches the eye and makes it harder to interpret as unassigned sounds only but still a 9.5/10. Makes my Canadian heart proud

Skizz: sadf. 0/10

WILD LIFE POWER BREAKDOWNS BONUS ROUND (Pt 3.5 - Mumbo and Skizz)

Name(s): Mumbo Jumbo & Skizzleman

Power: Zombie - Return from perma-death as a reanimated corpse and server the will of the Necromancer (Cleo or Grian). As a zombie, you have only 4 hearts and no other abilities. Upon death you exist as a ghost, and may talk to other ghosts and explore the world unencumbered by the laws of physics until resummoned by a Necromancer.

Note: With only four health, their defense is lower than standard, however, unlimited respawns effectively gives them max defense as damage and death are inconsequential. Infinite lives also increase attack as they can sacrifice themselves in the process, unlike the others.

my personal highlights from skizz's pov of build and seek:

the intro. something about the characters sliding around the screen and "its best to take the high road, celebrate with them and act mature about it *SMACK*" it was awesome and cracked me up

him trying to have his plot next to impys and grian and scott separating them

his "I'm hidden, can you find me?" bit (great delivery and his character being tiny in a big open space was hilarious)

skizz always plays like the dumb goof and be the butt of the joke but then he says stuff like "high level infrastructure" and "desensetize them to the poster" and "maslow's pyramid"

the fact that he had all his buddies in there (even people not in the video!) impulse and tango as blacksmith and leatherworker (cause 'i can't not have tango'), jimmy up in the tower with a sign saying 'keep looking, fool!' (the fact skizz tried to write in jimmy's voice is so awesome to me cause i love these peoples unique voices and i can definitely hear him saying that) and scott as the entire army. bonus cause they're all employed and doing stuff like being the army. an army of scotts. meanwhile grian's there "having a bad day". he's just in the basement being tortured. "wheres grian? oh he's just being tortured." and lizzie and joel just sat in the things looking at each other

him just casually saying all his friends are brilliant :)

the fact that his build is like a walk through history model and sort of is a storytelling thing? (i love how him, impulse and grian all took the build a thing task differently to the original crew and played into their own like thing cause skizz is a storyteller, loves his friends and makes people laugh and you can see it reflected in his map. impulse played with some redstone to give people a headache and grian wanted to make people dizzy with his walls and sort of put a twist on the game like he does with each new guess the build and life series by making it escape room-y)

the fact that grian stole all his leather and junk and then was wearing it at the end of the episode

skizz and jimmy as a whole cause they just make each other funnier (this is my plea for plate up or something else with them and tango to come back pleaseee) and just the way jimmy wasted time to say funny things

the fact jimmy looked at joel and lizzie and said "this is love" and impulse looked at it and went "im a bit worried about you"

literally everyone jumping in the water, making some comment about how they were gonna die and skizz being evil and how they were sure he was down there/hated him if he was down there

Roleplaying with a friend is weird, I desperately want to tell ppl how I interesting and wholesome it is sometimes on the other hand but how on earth do I explain Chayanne being adopted by Docm77 and Tallulah by Pearlescentmoon after Philza and Missa had a fight (caused by Skizzleman leaving a cabinet open) that led to their divorce and eventual deaths.

How to handle tantrums 101. A guide by Skizzleman (With the mountaneeirs as test subjects)

Gem. Doesn't have alot of tantrums, or she is to young and the only thing in her mind is napping or she is an angel but when she has them is because she is lonely and she really wants attention but doesn't know how to voice it. So pick that little up and hug her she will be happy!

Grian. Has tantrums often because its fun- he is chaotic and energetic and sometimes tantrums are one thing that are gonna take some of his energy, but if you offer that bird snacks he will be out of the floor in a minute!

Scar only has tantrums when he is unable to do something, he can't go play tag because he is on a bad pain day and is on his wheelchair, he cant build because he can't think of what he can do because the ideas don't seem to appear in his head. Simply carrying him around on your arms and bring him aroun everywhere, he will be quiet and enjoying being there and probably sleep on Skizz's arms

Joel is also one for tantrums. Specially if he is frustated with himself or when he is tired but doesn't want to sleep piggyback rides are the way to go! Skizz smiles everytime he can hear Joel giggling on his back (But sometimes he does regret it when Joel starts to be a little gremiling and pull his hair)

Mumbo doesn't have tantrums, he totaly doesn't. No, him refusing to get back inside of Skizz's base and pounting because he doesn't want to nap(even tho he needs to) is not him having a tantrum. But if he WAS having a tantrum offer him to read a story, Mumbo loves hearing stories and comment on them even tho he just babbles and he will be more willing to take a nap

Impulse. When regressed Imp still tries to work and gets frustate when he keep making mistakes and when Skizz notices this he will say sweet and soft words, impulse usually needs a reminder that he is allowed to take a break, he is allowed to relax, he is allowed to be a little and doesn't need to work 24/7. He is not on their old home anymore

And now for a secret note from the littles as a bonus! How to make a happy Skizz while he is the one having a tantrum!

When Skizz is having a tantrum is usually... Because he is really tired, his wings hurt, memories that he rather to forget keep coming back and he is just... so tired. So when he eventually starts having a tantrum (Even tho he isnt a little, he shoulnd be one, he really needs to grow up) and refuses to rest. The whole group gets together to help, Impulse with words of affirmation and helping him calm down, Joel carrying him to his base on his back while Mumbo tells him about his day, grian is in the kitchen making snacks and Skizz is just watching him while Scar holds him and after the snacks and Gem being the perfect hermit to cuddle and hug.

In the next day when he is big again, Skizz is so greatfull to have all of them - 🦋 (also about Xuma hc, no you didnt misunderstand me! I probably just invented a word and tought it meant something lol)

Rating Hermits by their Skins of Undress

My judgement is based on the following:

1 - the subject's enthusiasm 2 - the level of undress, and 3 - my own personal bias. A lot of Bias. Do not take this as any form of an official ranking.

I also am very sure that I haven't seen all the skins that might apply to this criteria, and... maybe if there's a lot of people interested, I'd run a formal tournament. Maybe. But for now, here's a ranking that's sat in my notes app for over a year!

7 - WormMan

Viscerally unpleasant. It may be a skin-tight suit with the ass missing, but- well actually, that's the entire sentence. That's all I have to say on this.

6 - RenTheDog

While, browsing NameMc, I have found multiple instances of Ren wearing less-than-clothed skins. They mostly seem to be plastered to the comical extremes, with bulging muscles and colorful garb, almost akin to a blow-up-muscle suit. While I commend the enthusiasm (... and haven't seen the context) it feels a bit comical. It may be delightful, but it is playing up the state of undress for humor.

Ren has committed to a bit, but unfortunately, it is not just the bit I'm looking for right now.

5 - Mumbo

While Mumbo was adventurous, his state of undress was less a matter of will and more of a matter of poverty. He sold his suit for 64 diamonds, and therefore isn't in this competition for the right reasons. His general disposition seemed slightly more embarrassed during this, the state of undress only transactional.

Mumbo simply looks uncomfortable like this. It invokes the feeling of needing to give him a spare robe, and a warm cup of coca. Have all my diamonds, little man, your heart's not into this.

4 - Bdubs

An old classic. Bdubs is IN the zone. His shirt is off and he is living life to the fullest. It's not the most skin shown, but he makes up for it with wearing it well, and confidence.

3 - Scar

While Scar is enthusiastic with his states of undress, often taking off his chestplate to show off, it is not the most extreme example. He manages to strike the balance of enthusiasm and undress in a way that is winning my heart, but not my top spot.

(side note: I tried to find the original creator of the pro-scitties meme, but due to time and it being reposted so often, I could not. My apologies.)

2 - Docm77

Doc has been baring his chest for years, and has no plans of stopping. His state of undress is almost never brought to light, and is instead in an admirable state of casualty that warms the heart. He's worn more scantily clad skins - but I've chosen this one for its classic nature, and also the labcoat that is parted tastefully. It says, "I could show more, but why should I?" Keep on, Doc. Keep on.

1 - ImpulseSV

Impulse literally co-hosts a game called Naked and Scared that has run for twenty-six seasons. Not only is he seemingly enthusiastic about his state of undress, but he's extreme in it, wearing only a pair of tighty-whities. His undress is a special event, but it is also a frequent and common one. I believe with my entire heart he has earned his top place.

Bonus: Skizzleman

While Skizz isn't an official Hermit, I feel he deserves to share the top spot with his homiebuddeh. He is In the zone. There is no shame in his eyes. He hasn't showered in 5 years by self-attestation and he owns it perhaps too proudly.

We had an idea for an April Fool’s episode that we just didn’t have time to create, so here’s a copy of the pitch text I wrote up: Welcome back to the Limited Life Recap! My name is Pixie -

And this week we have a very special bonus update on the state of our favorite chaotic trashpit.

This week saw several notable highlights, the first being Jimmy Solidarity was appointed king of the server this week after managing to win a duel against every member of the server back-to-back. He then teamed up with Tango, the two of them abandoning the rest of the server inside of the burning manor.

In another corner of the server, GoodTimesWithScar successfully gained a monopoly on oak saplings.

Skizzleman managed to collect all the cows on the server, in fact resurrecting a good number of the cows killed by Martyn during session 1. 

And finally, this week saw Joe Hills join the Life Series, with him building a normal house with no traps whatsoever. Let’s go to Joju with more information on this weeks changes. 

Thanks, Pixie. This week saw Grian be generous, rewarding everyone an extra hour and nine minutes of lifetime. This is enough to push Skizzleman back into the green, meaning that he will probably win. Also, with Pearl being the boogeyman this week, she failed to kill anyone. It’s great that she’s really bad at assassinations on this server. Back to you.

-Hardcore skyblock Imp and Skizz where Skizz gets struck by lightning

-an AU vaguely inspired by Cult of the Lamb where Skizz is a newly ascended God and Impulse, his best friend in life, is now his head priest. Shenanigans ensue.
