Okay idk what's been said already but imma go ahead and throw some fics in here! First, some multichapter/series favs

Rescue Fire by Imagine That (I'm absolutely wild for this fic) During the crossover, the watchers decide to start a spontaneous new life series, and twelve players have a no good very bad time :D It's sequel fic A Kindling of Sorts, is currently being written

The Pact of Our Youth by Paris_Frogg is one of my favorite soup group fics!!! It has super sweet found family vibes, and they also get to take down a king, hehe.

Siren's Call by Capritarius is a Flower Ranchers fic centered around Scott finding out he is a siren, and consequences therein. Super cute, great hurt/comfort fic :>

Skin and Bones by Dani_ofCrows is a collection of Febuwhump oneshots. Their writing in this is absolutely stellar! It focuses on quite a few different hermits and has overarching plots between prompts. My fav storylines were Zed and Wels!

Meiy'ia by KitsunesPawz is a beautifully written pirate au, centered around our fishy boi xBCrafted. It's a well done slow burn into xB/Keralis/Xisuma, and just a wonderful fic in general. Kitsune has a ton of other great xB fics as well!!!

Saving the best for last, Like a Deer in Headlights is an incredible series by fynnfynnfynn, focusing on a hybrid hunting and trading system, that the hermits work to help hybrids out of. The first fic is finished and is about Gem and Zed's experience in the system. There is also a fic about Mumbo (my poor bb he needs all the hugs in this au) and a fic about Joel and Skizz, both ongoing.

Now, on to Oneshots! I have so many comfort oneshots I love to reread all the time.

The Warmth in Winter is a Zedaph/Impulse/Tango fic about seasonal depression. It's anonymously written, but it's genuinely one of the most beautiful fics out there. The attention to detail is incredible, and everything feels so soft and comforting, but loud and bold when it needs to be.

No Sleep for the Haunted, by KitsunesPawz again, is an angsty little oneshot about xB not getting his sleep. Well, if not sleeping will keep the nightmares at bay, he's sure as heck gonna keep doing it. Luckily, Keralis is there to help :>

Ten minutes ago, also by an anonymous, is a Flower Ranchers high school au fic, but, plot twist, they're all theater kids. Tango's a techie, Scott's the star of the stage, and Jimmy's there to hold them all together like glue.

Sent to Voicemail, and The Cake is a Possibility are fics from a college AU by Nyctae. In Sent to voicemail, Tango has religious trauma/guilt, but he also has friends that will always be there for him. And in the cake is a possibility, Etho handles Tourettes, anxiety, and the terrible horrible experience of eating out at a public restaurant. There are other great fics in this series too!

My Roomate's a Werewolf?! by FanofMany9503 is a fic about... well, it says it all in the title. Martyn starts to fall for his weird roommate Ren, only to find out that his roommate is in fact a werewolf. This oneshot is super funny, give it a read if you love Treebark, and Martyn being teased by all his friends!

Last, a cheeky self promo >:D I don't have any completed fics yet, but here's the two I'm working on at the moment.

When The Dawn Breaks is my demon Impulse passion project of a fic. While Impulse is in the overworld, he finds Hermit Village, a little haven for people like him. But, unbeknownst to the hermits, Impulse has dark secrets, and a mission to snatch away their souls. Will he complete the mission before time runs out? hehe. All in all, it's a pretty nice found family fic I think, I did tend to derail into other plotlines, like unnecessarily long sickfics, during the course of the fic though. A bonus is that it's over 100k words :D

And, Prince of Feathers is a cool medieval/fantasy Ranchers fic! :> The twist is that it's inspired by the Princess and the Frog, and Jimmy is stuck as a helpless little forest creature (a canary) until someone will give him his true love's kiss. Not super developed yet, I only have a few chapters, but theres also ethubs and drama and alcohol so yeah.

watching hermits trying to interact with any shop that auto-refills or has separate payment chest or any other kind of 'complexity' that isn't just a regular ol'vanilla chest with everything in it makes it REALLY clear that none of these people can read when it counts

watched xbcrafted repeatedly look in the OBVIOUSLY LABELED PAYMENT CHEST (like it had a diamond on it and everything) at jevin's rocket shop for the rockets, then stare at the sign with AN ARROW POINTING UP and just...not realize the goods were above him until like a full minute and nearly walking away later. then came back and put the bonus chest paper in the payment chest instead of the one the book that TOLD HIM WERE TO PUT THE PAPER was at

watched vintagebeef put diamonds in the goods chest at the same place. like how did you miss the diamond?!?! its the most colorful thing there!

like this isn't even the first time i've seen this kind of problem THIS SEASON. and they (all the hermits) keep having this problem season after season. its hilarious. mostly because they can read they just screw it up the moment they have to rub braincells together to understand a thing

Hermitcraft as Mob Hybrids

 BdoubleO: Villager (sleeps every night without fail, yet can be very annoying when they want to be)  Biffa: Iron Golem (the man's skin is pretty much iron man. Plus he's normally pretty chill but mess with his and he will mess you up) Cubfan: Vex (I mean this is obvious: Convex) Docm77: Goat-Creeper (The man is the Goat-Father, and he's a cybernetic creeper) EthosLab: Panda (1, the coloring, 2, he lives in the jungle, 3, I just felt like it) False: Wither Skeleton (Name a more annoying thing to get cornered by- plus tall spooky False. Also, who would want to fight her if she could inflict someone with wither?) Scar: Vex (Another obvious Convex) Grian: Chicken (I mean, Poultry Man. Plus most people think chickens aren't able to fly) Hypnotizd: Evoker (His color palette is perfect and it explains why he had trouble with villagers) iJevin: Blue Slime (Very obvious lol. It would be funny if the others had to deal with kid and baby jevins whenever he dies though.) Impulse: Ghast (S6 War: he made a ghast ball launcher. Plus imagine if he could light tnt from a distance by breathing fireballs, or if he could float freely through the air) Iskall85: Phantom (How many times has the dude stayed up mining for days or perched in his big tree) Jessassin: Pillager (You cannot tell me his skin wouldn't match up with it. I also just like the idea that the reason he’s not around is that he accidentally gets summoned to Raids or Patrols) Joe: Fox (Sweet berries, all of the sweet berries- plus in most cultures they're known for their cunning nature) Keralis: Cave Spider (Look into his eyes- only his eyes. Ignore all the limbs he uses to build, please.)

Mumbo: Enderman (Big tall stick of a man. Plus there’s the added bonus of being able to teleport away from troub;e) Python: Hoglin-Creeper (Nether colors, plus tusks, plus the creeper skin. And I just thought it was cool) Ren: Ravager (Dog/wolf was too obvious, and Ravagers are like the illigers' version of a big dog with horns. And I think the idea of the hermits using his mob form to launch themselves is hilarious)  Stress: Witch (She owns the potion shop, and did you see her on Halloween? She was ready for it) TangoTek: Piglin (Most people draw him with horns, why not tusks? Plus with Toon Towers, people could call him Porky the Pig) TFC: Shulker (He always stays in the caves, alone, and likes being undisturbed. Plus the idea of him just sleeping amongst his shulker boxes being the reason no one sees him half the time is amusing) Beef: Fox (The man is literally making Three Fox Hole, plus I thought I had enough Llama Dad AUs) Welsknight: Vindicator (I just like the idea of villagers being afraid of him, and he's just really nice and chivalrous towards them.) Helsknight: Blaze-Vindicator (He was cloned from Wels, with the power used from blaze rods. Plus the image of him raging and shooting off fireballs, only to get a snowball to the face is funny to me) xBCrafted: Glow Squid (The color palette matches up, plus he seems to have an affinity for that in the sea. I mean, just think about how many times he’s had pet guardians) Xisumavoid: Ender Dragon (I mean, he's the admin- and I like the idea of the hermits being his version of a hoard that he protects) Evil Xisuma: Wither (When he destroyed the server, it was with withermen. Plus the visual bonus of him launching wither skulls is amazing.) ZedaphPlays: Husk (1, his baby zombie trap, 2, he lives in/right next to a desert, and 3, I thought he and Cleo could be buddies with the whole Golf thing) Worm Man: Moobloom (Since we associate him with caterpillars and worms, why not flowers? And he can have dainty little hooves to clip clop around in) ZombieCleo: Zombie/Husk/Drowned (I mean, this was obvious. I just figured that depending where she spends her time she can change between the three. But would go back to a normal zombie when she respawns.)

Did I miss anyone? I’ll post designs whenever I get to it.

You ever think about how Hbomb is the personal embodiment of “You’re doing great sweetie” during his VOD reviews. Like he is nothing but encouraging and positive. Unless it’s Georgenotfound in Sand of Time but George is just built different. I think.

Idk if anyone notices but in Joel's POV (and only his POV as far as I can tell), when Etho and Joel found out they were soulmates, you can hear Etho mumbling Bdubs' name (timestamp: 5:16). That man has an attachment issue the side of the moon.

My #1 post of 2022

How “starter” are hermits’ starter bases?

Scores calculated on build size, design and material. The more extravagant the base, the lower the score. 

I haven’t watched all hermits, will update once I catch up more :) 

Tango Tek: 0/10 

Not only does he use rare blocks, his base design is one of the most complicated and elaborate bases I’ve seen so far, and also one of the biggest. This is not a starter base. 

FalseSymmetry: 0+/10

She builds a tree. And an eagle. And a mountain for said tree and eagle. This is not a starter base I’m sorry it’s not. However, bonus point for continuing the build from last season lore.  

PearlescentMoon: 1/10 

It’s smaller than both Impulse’s and Tango’s build, so props for that. She uses nether blocks and aged coppers, so no point on the material front. The design is pretty complex tho, ngl. And the worst offense is that she has an interior. An INTERIOR. It’s... *almost* a starter base on the outside, but on the inside it’s better than all of us and it knows. 

ImpulseSV: 2/10

While not as elaborate and complicated in overall shape, it is a sizeable build and quite detailed. Seems to involve some terraforming, which lowers the score. And he uses amethyst which is 100% not starter base material.

XisumaVoid: 2.5/10 

Complicated, big, rare blocks. The only reason he has any point at all is because it doesn’t have a back and honestly that’s valid. It’s a glorified photo prop right now and that’s valid. 

GeminiTay: 5/10 

Also a treehouse like Tango, but everything is just so much more reasonable. It’s not even *technically* a custom tree, and her materials are just woods. Her base did require a whole skeleton farm to grow, so not *that* starter isn’t it? :pensive: Also lost points for some of the materials and the garden decor, but other it can pass as a valid starter base. 

Zedaph: 9/10 

It’s a rock. Relatively simply in design, small size, non-complicated material. Lost one point because tuff and moss required caving a little further, but otherwise super solid and valid starter base. 

Iskall: 9/10 

Love the dirt hut aesthetics, very true to what a starter base should be. Loss point for the moss, azalea, and glass usage but otherwise totally valid. 

Rendog: 10/10 

Cute little wooden house. Very valid size for a starter house. Nothing to complain about <3 Him calling it a doghouse is both a clever puns on his name and implies there will be a bigger house in the future. Appreciate the play on words. 

StressMonster: 10/10 

Perfection. Nothing to talk about. She uses wood and builds a cute little teapot. It’s cute, it’s pretty, it’s not outrageous. I might be sightly obsessed with it. Love it 10/10. 

Vintage Beef: 10.5/10

It’s a cave. Has a bed and only the basic stuffs. Your typical starter base. Iconic.

ZombieCleo: 12/10

Sleeping under the stars, as nature intended. She and Joe are busy doing community-benefitting building and I love them for that. 

Joe Hills: 13/10 

Same reasoning as Cleo but extra point for his poem. It brings tears to my eyes <3

Doc is a greasy rat who doesn't like to shower

So uh... This post kind of inspired me.

Everyone's opinion on showering:

Bdubs: Loves it. Could easily shower for 45+ minutes.

Cubfan135: Prefers baths.

DocM77: Like you said, despises the shower. Garbage stinky man. Taking off all his metallic bits and then re-putting them back on takes ages but he understands it has to be done.

Ethoslab: Cold shower.

FalseSymmetry: Showers for 5 minutes and then gets bored.

Grian: Just flies through a car wash every now and then. Didn't shower at all during the hippie era.

Goodtimeswithscar: Prefers baths.

Hypnotizd: Axe body spray. Sometimes bathes in the ocean but usually just uses axe body spray.

iJevin: If he gets wet he gets bigger (like when you put a gummy bear in water.) doesn't emit an odour, hencefourth, doesn't need to shower.

ImpulseSV: Sometimes showers but sometimes forgets.

Iskall85: Bold of you to assume he knows what a shower is. Joe Hills: Brings a rubber duck with him. Its name is DuckM77.

Keralis: Owns a paddling pool. That counts, right?

Mumbo Jumbo: Washes himself but not his clothes.

Rendog: Didn't shower until season 6 and Grian peer pressured him to. Relapsed during the hippie era but now showers regularly.

Stressmonster: Prefers baths. Always uses bath bombs.

TangoTek: Hisses like a cat at the sight of a full bath. Impulse and Zedaph have to push him in and it's always more trouble than it's worth. Zedaph has resulted to chasing him around their base with a hose.

Tinfoilchef: Didn't he canonically build a wash room in his bunker?

Vintagebeef: He lives in the desert, showers every day.

Welsknight: Welsknight? More like stinkyboyknight. Pff, you think they bathed in medieval times? No, they caught the plague and died like men.

XbCrafted: Just washes his hand, face and pits every day at the sink. Showers properly like... once a week.

Xisuma: You think he doesn't? Bonus: Xisuma helmet stays on during shower.

Zedaphplays: Bathes in the mud. At least his skin is soft? Anyway, he smells like a medieval peasant.

Zombie Cleo: She stinkey because she's a zombie. She showers very frequently to try and hide the stench of rotting flesh. Wears lots of flowery perfume too.

TL:DR: Everyone's stinkey. >:-) hermitcraft said stinky boy rights.
