The ongoing war has devastated my family. We’ve lost 25 family members—each one a beloved part of our lives, taken too soon. I miss them deeply—their laughter, their presence, their love. Every day is a reminder of this unimaginable loss.

I’m Anas Basil, a recent high school graduate with dreams of a brighter future through studying e-business management and building a career. But the war has shattered everything. After graduating with a 93% average, I enrolled at Khan Younis Training College (UNRWA), only to find that it’s now a shelter for displaced families instead of a place for education.

My younger brother, Ahmad, 14, is known as the "Doctor of the Future" because of his extraordinary talent in mathematics. However, the war has kept him out of school for two consecutive years. Ahmad is also a gifted football player who used to win tournaments, but the war has taken that away from him too.

The war forced our family to flee to Rafah, where we lived in a tent for several months. Every day is a struggle for survival—fetching water, gathering wood, and making a fire.

Help little Osama survive surgery!!

Osama (center) is a 6-year-old boy from Gaza. Following the IOF attack on his home, Osama fled to southern Gaza with his father, mother, 2 siblings, and ailing grandparents.

Life has been extremely difficult for them. Without any income, providing food and water for the family and medical care for Osama’s grandparents has been incredibly challenging.

Then Osama fell ill with severe abdominal pain. Doctors diagnosed him with appendicitis, lymphadenitis and malnutrition, and said he needed urgent surgery to save his life.

Thankfully he was able to undergo surgery. However, he remains in a very vulnerable state as he recovers.

The human body requires adequate food, water, shelter, and medical care as it recovers from a traumatic event. Unfortunately for Osama, these are all difficult to attain. The IOF assault on Gaza has made all of these things scarce, and what little remains is extremely expensive.

Osama cannot recover from his illness and surgery without the basic necessities of life. Additionally, his malnutrition is further worsened by lack of adequate sustenance. He is weak and miserable, and needs your help to get the things he needs to survive.

fwiw I never meant to imply I thought ALL the juniors were boring (and I don't think existing as symbols excuses shallow writing either), I do genuinely find jin ling a fascinating character who easily outshines many of wwx's generation in his complexity of emotions and circumstances - the spoiled, angry, sensitive, lonely orphan heir constantly bullied and pushed harder than he can handle, finally finding a weird parental figure he likes and can trust, who can support and advise him and make him laugh? and to learn that this new adult he's coming to love is actually the famous heretic, a liar who's responsible for the deaths of his parents? and now he has to grapple with that? that's fascinating! that's way more complicated than anything nmj or lxc or jyl's got going on, or even wen qing

there's not even any good reason for lsz to be so one-note. the man who raised him, who he trusted and loved, never told him the truth about his own identity, and now he has to contend with the fact the elders of the sect who raised him would have left him to die as a child because of what family he was born into, and his biological family was all exterminated by a clan that's still in power. by the end of the story he's with the last remaining member of his sect, someone who isn't even technically alive, and he's...far too serene about it all. lsz had the potential to be a character with internal conflict just as vibrant and compelling as jin ling's and it would have made for a richer and more fleshed-out story, especially if he'd had that conflict and deliberately chosen peace and companionship anyway, but since he WAS primarily a symbol, the author simply didn't bother

they could have been parallels or foils or even had a genuine interesting relationship considering their families literally killed each other's but....nah
