the last few hours zilla had spent in the brush of magnolia forest, hidden from most of its inhabitants (the exception being the animals who lived in the tree she was in) and curled up, sketching. wildlife would always be fascinating to her, beautiful creatures who live their life based solely on survival. and yet, there are times they take joy in comfort, in security. they're not mindless, not the way people claim they are.
it is the animals that alert her to a new presence, first, as focused as she was on her drawing. the skittering of the squirrels, a bird's wing flapping out of the tree and back up higher, away from the new unfamiliar presence.
zilla peeked out over the branch. a beautiful older woman was there, long hair and .... warm? her presence felt warm. zilla secured her mask and let herself fall into the shadow of the branch, to appear at the base of the trunk.
Tumblr media
"excuse me." zila's voice was peaceful and quiet, but cutting into the previous silence of the woods. she hoped she didn't startle the woman too much. "if you are on the way to see porlyusica, she is with a patient at the moment." a short pause. "i'm zilla."
there she was again. her life seemed to be rather . . . cyclic in nature, as of late, and cymbeline could not say that she cared for that, very much. magnolia forest. it had been a place she had liked, once. happy memories had used the forest as their stage, a long time ago. she had followed her uncle like a duckling followed its mother, always minding her steps as they made their way from the city to the little cottage where his friend lived. it was a strange thought, to think that porlyusica was still there while her uncle was gone.
but just like then, she minded her steps as she wandered through the forest. she had---a bit of time before her next train would come, before she would be able to leave magnolia in the past, where it belonged. this was all just to soothe the curiosity she could never win against. she just wanted to see if it was still the way she remembered it all.

As someone who deals with chronic illness/pain + Mental illness, some days I question my ability to push through, and when that happens I am able to remind myself that Joe Anoa'i does it everyday and so can I. This man right here is my inspiration. This man is my hero. It really is that deep for some of us. Wrestling and fandom in general can be that deep!I'm a huge Roman Reigns fan but I'm a Joe Anoa'i fan above all. He also reminds me that while I can fight through it and push myself, it's okay to take the rest I need. One of the billion reasons he's my GOAT ☝🏾 "I can, I will."

Note
Just got out of my first viewing (spoilers so tag accordingly)
Yeah that was the most ridiculous shit ive ever seen and i had a blast lmfao.
--
To get the few negatives out of the way: Syclla and Tiamat got COOKED. That's crazy. Especially Tiamat. I had no idea she was in the movie and like choked on popcorn when they said her name. First onscreen appearance and she dies in like 3 seconds... sucks to be her. But honestly... this is probably one of those moments where Fan Content messes with the perception of a canon thing, at least for me. It hurts a lot more because of the emotional attachment from stuff like Ozymandias's story, Shamhat, and other adjacent stuff. If I had never seen those and watched her die I'd probably think "oh she had a cool design, but whatever". But yeah, my only serious complaint is her being shafted and I don't even really think I can call it objective because there was definitely an attachment there.
Ok besides that this might be my new personal favorite Monsterverse. Could be recency bias but I don't think so. Every human is at the very least entertaining. Everything Trapper did in this movie made me crack up, hearing Bernie say the words 'Discord chat' and 'Ghidorahstan64' (i stg this was a callout of some kind) onscreen gave me terminal whiplash, and although Jia and Andrew's story was sorta surface level, it was still endearing. I'd rather have a good human storyline, sure, but if we can't have that I'll settle for entertaining.
Here I thought Suko was gonna be an annoying marketing ploy to sell toys... I physically snorted in the theatre when Kong slammed him into that one ape. MVP of the film lmao. Mothra was... also there. Yeah, it really shows that she was a last minute addition. But DAMN she sent Godzilla ROLLING with a single attack. Speaking of, I don't think the Tia-Zilla form was as underutilized as I've heard people say it was. Especially that new Atomic Breath effect. Holy eargasm.
Oh man though, Shimo and Skar are fantastic. Skar hits the same beat as like a Celestial Dragon or Vladimir Harkonnen with way more grace than I would've expected from a big monkey. They go shockingly dark with his treatment of the ape-slaves and Shimo... especially with that female ape insinuation.
Holy shit poor Shimo, man. I honestly thought the Skar controlling her aspect would be kinda downplayed and just regular mind control, not genuine torture of some kind. I love that they let her have characterization by resisting him at every chance she gets, and that the pain control isn't always active (i'm assuming that's the insinuation of keeping her all chained and behind magma, it depowers and restrains her when Skar's not actively using her), further insinuating she gets merciful breaks from hellish enslavement only to be yanked back into it whenever Skar needs something turned into a popsicle. I think my favorite moment in the film is right after Suko shatters the crystal and the light blue luminescence fades to reveal her actual eyes for the first time. Eyes are used throughout the film to show subtle humanizing features, like Godzilla falling asleep in Rome, Kong's wide eyes when he sees his kin, and shock when Shimo realizes she's free. Having her eyes glowing the whole film makes her seem way more monstrous and inhuman, so when that suddenly goes away she starts getting framed as just an animal. Also her eyes are pretty. Also, I lied, that wasn't my favorite part of the film. My favorite part was Kong giving her chin scratches and that cute half-hug. This needs to be normalized. He needs to hug Godzilla next film. I will pay someone a king's ransom for this to happen. Final little detail, I like that Kong doesn't do his final roar from on her back but standing next to her, on the same level as all the other apes. He doesn't look to elevate himself over her or everyone else like Skar did, which is a great touch.
Also also also: Think it's time for a Doug solo film where he tries to steal all the Titans' food. Make it happen Legendary.
Much agreement here! I'd love for a solo Mothra MonsterVerse film to really capitalize on her lore and give her stuff to do (without dying at the end preferably); maybe establish some connection between the Chen family and Jia. Also, I need a little shot of Mothra going to visit Godzilla while he's sleeping in the Colosseum and just cuddle up to the big lug.
Andrews and Jia were a welcome breath of fresh air after GvK reversed Mark's characterization and Madison became... that. There was still some slight tension between Jia not feeling like she belongs and Andrews wanting to do right by her, even if it means possibly giving her up, only for Jia to go "you're my mom, you're my home, stop being dramatic". You love to see it.
Adding to the Doug solo film idea... Shimo adopts him because he's cute and she thinks his shenanigans are hilarious. Let us have fun wholesome times!

Spoilers for my @loominggaia AU: Of Kids and World War
Warning: MASSIVE Spoilers for my AU series. Also, like the LG spoilers, there's a lot more going on under the hood (Smaller plot points, subplots, and so on)
About the same time as later parts of Amber's Childhood, the titular bitchular of the series, Project Starblast, happens, wiping Damijana off the map and killing a lot of Zareenites. Iriana Liatt of Dirty Animal fame, Skylie and Saraia are in Driza trying to sway the population to the Naturalist's side, and were funded by the Naturalists for that, Iriana for whatever reason
Project Starblast took out a lot of Driza and Viersen, so all 3 were under threat of death, and Skylie and Saraia managed to get a lot of people out with King and Rook, and Skylie got Iriana while Rook rushed past her.
After evacuating, the people of Driza and Viersen were told to get back to work by their employment or the government. Many were pissed and started protesting heavily. Meanwhile Iriana started feeling weird: She felt her music was weird, experienced nausea when seeing art or hearing music from elsewhere, and other stuff. Saraia and Skylie pieced together she somehow gained a soul and connected it to Project Starblast.
Eventually, the people of Driza and Viersen were told that if they were upset, they could leave Zareen, and as Skylie, Saraia and Iriana, along with Darshaan (Who hauled ass over on Queen, the monster Saraia made for him as a Chess Egg mount, when he heard of Project Starblast), started the journey to Damijana Sea (The water-filled crater of where Damijana got atomized for the most part), the disgruntled Zareenites followed right along.
After about 3 weeks, the exodus came to the crater, and found countless other monsters there as well, and even Overlord Morgause of Unseelie Court was there.
After finding out what happened from Damijani survivors and those who came from Slegelse to investigate, the group, excluding the Unseelie vanguard, decided to team up to rebuild, while avoiding the mistakes of before.
After like a year and a half, Skylie takes a break to meet up with her family in Uekoro for Amber's 2nd birthday, finding out Maui has gained a soul as well, and the World Athenaeum is saying the disaster must have had so much magical energy Gaia was temporarily overloaded and needed to let off the magic in the form of souls for monsters, and it's unknown whether the next monster generation would or not.
In addition, in various parts of the world, sightings of new species showed up: They called themselves kolari, fatui, marinal, fodiens, meshnokai, kitsune, yuki onna, tengu, oni, jorogumo, uruk-hai, woodcrafters, fareel, kulipari, baileif, and several more:
A new species of commoner, the Na-Vi from Avatar (Not the one with a kid with a blue arrow tattoo)
Tumblr media
A new species of fae, the bangboo (From ZZZ)
Tumblr media
A new species of gaian, the kobolds (Lizard people, essentially legged gorgons that are also able to hold their breath for a long enough time they join Aquarian groups around the world)
An additional youkai, the kappa
Another eviolan, the naiyul (An Aquarian that's essentially a stingray centaur)(Below is a female, although they have breasts like sirene)
Tumblr media
And an extra meru species, the zilla (Basically a pterosaur like below)
Tumblr media
These species all showed up all over the world in various numbers (Including a highly aquatic subgroup of Na'Vi, similar to feral satyrs, that becomes highly associated with Aquarians), but most prominently near Damiscend as it's growing. The naiyul spawn in the water nearby.
Eventually, wild plants start growing around Damiscend, making the Zareenites, who've never seen them before, surprised and realize how bad Zareen is, making a long-lasting anti-industrialization rhetoric in Ascendance.
Meanwhile in Evangeline, Cobalt ascends the throne and marries Sai, while maintaining a secret three-way mutual love triangle with Sai and Justinia. The Knights of Favonius slowly gain reputation and numbers in Evangeline, and after Saraia attacks, wiping out the royal guard with help from Darshaan and Trip, and Skylie shows up and shocks her whole family, replace the royal guard at Cobalt's request. Saraia also finds out, telepathically, Cobalt is trying to end slavery, slowly at first.
And, while the Knights make life in Evangeline much safer from monsters and lycanthropes, their presence, and the rise of traditional Lindism, called Reformed Lindism, and Project Starblast and the rise of Ascendance start straining life in Evangeline as people start to question the very foundation of the House of Humanity, despite the House's best efforts to wipe the aberrant thinking.
It doesn't help Skylie's random Vision gifting includes slaves and free people, making people question whether fae or gaians were that bad after all.
This is especially true with the royal family, who are now split between Cobalt, Lazuline, Saphirra and Marine and Cobalt's kids, who think the new way of thinking is best or at least condone their presence, and everyone else who are against the entire thing and wanna burn it down. The Knights of Favonius favor Cobalt overall, but never say anything.
Cobalt and his parents' relationship starts souring fast, especially after Cobalt finds out Justinia was forcibly bred by his parents, and chews them out and tells them that if they pull some dumb shit like that again, they're exiled from the Capital. At the same time, Maia, Cobalt's 14 year old daughter, and Lucius, Marine's slightly younger 16 year old twin son (The other went missing 6 years before, and was named Aether: However, he actually became an Ascendance general), realize they're a lesbian and a trans lesbian respectively, and Lucius changes her real name to Lumine, although secretly.
Eventually, shit goes to a head when Cobalt finds out Lumine was nearly executed but got saved by Paimon and Maia, revealing to him Lumine is trans and Maia is a lesbian, and supports both of them, then finds out Rodrig was behind it after forcing his son and heir Indigo, who found out by accident, using red hot rods. Then, on is way back after getting Lumine and Maia from the whole issue of Lumine's near hanging, he catches Cerulea trying to hide Justinia and a male sirene in a bush, which fails epically as she tried to hide them as Cobalt already started approaching and just stood in front of them, and figured out about Rodrig's shit after getting both him and Cerulea into the High Throne Room, along with Lumine's elfenne GF Furina (Who happened to be in the room when it all went down).
After hearing from Justinia what happened (And welcoming Jet, Justinia's old husband and Clarity and Amber's father, to the royal family, as well as Furina), he officially banished Cerulea, Indiga, and Rodrig from the Capital, personally seeing them out with several Favonius Knights, as well as Acting Grandmaster Jean and Skylie, who showed up as he was marching them into the main plaza.
However, this action sets off a chain reaction leading to the biggest war Looming Gaia has ever seen, essentially replacing the possible end for the FGG, via a multi-kingdom battle against the Cult of the Crescent in canon, with a world war. Yep, we're going that direction.
The way this goes is that Rodrig and Cerulea, along with the House of Humanity in Evangeline Capital, excluding Danus, Teal and Lazuline, get banished and wind up in Greenhearst, the largest enclave of Modern Lindism around. Here, they gather the soldiers there, as well as rallying Kelvingyard soldiers, and begin a violent rebellion.
Cobalt's answer to this is to send regular military over to Greenhearst and Kelvingyard to pacify the rebels, which only makes the rebel army grow as Modern Lindists from elsewhere in Evangeline rally in Kelvingyard, worsening the whole issue, before eventually Cobalt calls on the Knights of Favonius and eventually requests military support from Ascendance, especially after the Folkvaran Spec Ops and insurgent ex-slaves, manipulated by representatives of Cerulea and Rodrig into believing Cobalt's gonna worsen slavery in the kingdom join forces with the Modernists.
Also, Gultopp was already basically about to declare war against Cobalt due to him being insulted Cobalt was trying to make peace and invades Evangeline, and Ascendance troops wind up fighting the Folkvar navy.
The Unseelie Court, a long-standing ally to Ascendance, declares war against Gultopp and the Modernists, leading to Hethor declaring war on the Reformist Coalition to protect Folkvar, eventually leading to Zareen attempting a Reconquista to reclaim their land from Ascendance, and Mogdiri and Ascendii troops fight back to keep them from doing so, and then Lamai joins in to fight Ascendance, mostly to kill the false dragons (Various monsters, especially Skylie's monsters and saraians). Yerim-Mor joined the Reformists, as Jaq viewed Ascendance as a great ally, especially since Skylie personally led a buncha Knights of Favonius to take down the remaining Crescent Cult enclaves, since Skylie had honed her ability to rip of Crescent Masks like she did to Darshaan to be able to remove them without passing out.
Essentially, only Matuzu and the Seelie Court remain neutral, as even the Aquarian Alliance joins in, fighting everyone who's polluting their territory with bodies and ship stuff, and mostly because Sovereign, officially going loopy from brain cancer, wants to fight everyone while they're fighting each other.
Here's the sides of the war simplified:
Reformists: Evangeline Kingdom (Under Cobalt), Knights of Favonius, Ascendance, Unseelie Court, Mogdir, Yerim-Mor
Modernists: Evangeline Modern Lindism Rebellion, Folkvar, Ex-Slave Insurgents, Etios
Zareenite Reconquista (Technically a smaller military conflict, but officially considered part of the World War)
Aquatic Alliance Retaliation (Fighting everyone)
Lamai Crusade (Fighting Ascendance to kill off monsters)
This war takes like 16 years to fully end.
The Aquarian Alliance drops off first as Sovereign literally dies from his gut exploding from so much gas, and Champ signs peace with everyone just to let the Alliance rest after 8 years of just getting slaughtered, as leviathans controlled by magic are immune to the leviathan repellant spell, making swarms of koholasaurs kill millions of soldiers
Zareen falls off a season later, having gained zero ground and in fact having had its borders shrunken by Ascendii armies.
Lamai winds up way outta its weight class and gets hammered by an Ascendii splinter group sent to counter them, making the Lamai give up after having been beaten right back to their shores and surrender only a year after the AA and Zareen surrender
Mogdir signs peace with everyone at the same time Zareen surrendered, as they only wanted to protect their friend of Ascendance (OJ, with Winnie being his power behind the throne/Top advisor, is a good friend of Skylie's after Ascendance healed most of Evik)
The Modernists were eventually crushed as Gultopp and Hethor, the two people who were literally the only thing keeping the Modernist army alive via supplies, both died from being killed in battle age-related shit respectively, and Blomi basically immediately signed peace about a year before the war ended. This left Etios totally unable to fully supply the Modernists, and the army was completely crushed.
Indiga had died right before the war happened, and Cerulea was killed by Skylie in the aftermath of the largest battle of the Gaia World War, the Battle of Marduk Hill, where Gultopp also died. Skylie was also Gultopp's killer, having attempted to take her out again in a blind rage fueled by the amount of times Skylie came back during the war
It became a joke to the Reformists where Skylie would accidentally get killed in battle by Gultopp and have the Reformists lose that battle only to fight him again in another battle and get a Reformist victory. On the more serious side, scholars at the World Athenaeum studying the war knew how much the Modernists were surviving on Etiosi and Folkvaran supplies, and suspected only when Gultopp and Hethor died would the war end.
A month after that prediction, Gultopp finally fell to Skylie's sword, age, injuries, and Skylie's battlefield knowledge having finally proven too much for him to handle.
Keatto had zero ability to actually manage a war, and basically had every single male survivor of Hethor's line go to battle, where they all got killed in a Keatto-led attempt to take down Skylie was revenge. However, unlike the Gultopp/Skylie duels, which Skylie had purposely humored, she was no longer interested in dueling for the rest of the war, especially since she also knew the Modernists were being hard carried by Folkvar and Etios, so she was focused on ending the war now that half of the supplies were gone.
Upon Keatto's death, Hethor's dynasty totally fell apart, and Etios fell into a decade-long period of strife, leading to Thetos being revealed as being Hethor's illegitimate son by Murata, although Thetos had zero interest in Folkvar or Etios due to the GWW, and after finding out he was Hethor's kid he immediately packed his bags and fucked off to Ascendance, and Murata encouraged this, knowing he didn't need the stress of a High Ruler to have a good and full life.
This essentially made Etios too busy to fight the war, and eventually a centaur named Mangulos ascended the High Throne and signed peace, 4 years after the war had ended, and while it was added to the history books, everyone and their pet knows the war didn't end with Etios signing peace, it ended when the Modernists were finally crushed
Many people unofficially call the war over when Keatto and Hethor's sons and younger husbands died to Skylie's banner guard, having never even touched Skylie, save for Keatto who got a fatal case of Celestial-Blade-to-the-heart-itis
This holds a grain of truth, for the last year of the GWW was ridiculously one-sided: Almost every battle was an overwhelming win for the Reformists
Results
The results of the Gaia World War are as follows:
Evangeline Kingdom: Seriously fucked up from the war, where 75% of battles took place. Recovers in 10 years thanks to aid from Ascendance, Unseelie Court and Yerim-Mor, and reparations paid by Zareen, Etios, Folkvar and Lamai, as well as diplomatic aid from the Aquarian Alliance. Modern Lindism slowly dies off, the last truly Modern Lindist dying in Greenhearst in the fall of 6269 (Nice)
Ascendance: Its power made it a full Great Kingdom
Zareen: Serious loss in power, dependent on all other Great Kingdoms for everything except its own manufactured goods, much of which are exported for gold to buy imports. Slowly declines and loses Great Kingdom status in 6069, although still an independent kingdom, albeit a wealthy one from all of the industrial exports
Lamai: Massive population loss due to the war
Matuzu: Even richer than before the war, as they were giving everyone and their horses mercenaries. High King Rustafi decided to remain neutral specifically to reap the benefits of selling mercenary contracts to the entire planet
Mogdir: Loss in population normal for a war, but like 2 battles happened in Mogdir territory, both small skirmishes against Zareen
Yerim-Mor: Finally able to recover from the brink total collapse due to being the primary industrial supplier of the Reformists. Jaq eventually signs the Nymph Pact as Matuzu signs peace with Yerim-Mor and Yerim-Mor itself heals from the Gold River War due to a new vacuum of Crescent Cultists and an influx of wealth from the GWW
Etios: Struggling from a dynastic conflict, although fine once the war ends and a new High Ruler goes on the throne
Folkvar: Seeing an economic boom due to the war with Evangeline ending with Blomi and Cobalt, and the military of Folkvar sees massive budget cuts, all of that going to aiding the disabled, especially as Blomi discovers Sygbarne's existence halfway through the war (After the AA and Zareen tap out)
Unseelie Court: Morgause becomes a divine halfway through the war after being killed with Skylie, and immediately becomes a lot more involved with politics, mostly with Ascendance tho. The Kingdom as a whole becomes a lot better due to monsters feeling love and such and basically taking notes from Ascendance
Seelie Court: Literally nothing changes in the Seelie Court, beyond a larger intolerance of outsiders. Titania is still a crazy beans addict They really said
Tumblr media
Burmek: Same as Seelie Court, too busy fighting nymphs and roleplaying Mad Max to GAF
Azizaland: Becomes even wealthier due to great trade deals between Yerim-Mor and Evangeline, although like 95% of that just gets dumped into making everyone's life there better or gets put into commissioned art outside of the kingdom
During the war, Reformist soldiers who distinguished themselves in battle all got Visions from Skylie herself
Evangeline, now under Cobalt and mostly following Reformed Lindism, fairly rapidly abolishes slavery, instead purchasing monsters made for farming from Ascendance to do the work, and LGBT rights come a few years after the war ends (Specifically a season before Etios signs peace). Lumine and Furina actually have their wedding on the same day as the LGBT marriage laws go up in celebration, followed by JustSaibalt doing so in a grand ass wedding a month later, Cobalt reinstating Justinia and Jet's marriage as well
TLDR: Cobalt accidentally starts a world war and wins, making Gaia a way better place for everyone.
Also, Cobalt and Skylie are definitely the main characters here

Scrambled Eggs review
We get to see the Hotel crew interacting without Alastor for a change, while Alastor meets up with some old pals when babysitting the Eggs.
There are Razzle and Dazzle, I was wondering where they were after the first episode.
With this being Hell, Pentious’ paranoia and want to defend himself must be common with the people. Maybe if there were less demons with asshole or perverted personalities we’d see that. Plus if this continues HH and HB is going to become like Family Guy and depend on that kind of stuff for every joke.
We finally got a name for the scientist from the pilot, Odette.
Carmilla Carmine, an Overlord centered on weapons. Her introduction could lead to some interesting fights.
Vaggie is kind of right, just because someone flips you off, doesn’t mean they want you dead. Niffty on the other hand is someone you should always worry about as she will likely want to do more than murder you.
It’s another example of how we wouldn’t have gotten the storyline if it happened, but I’m surprised Charlie or Vaggie (mostly Charlie) didn’t bring up the idea of having the Eggs join as part of the Hotel’s staff. They look like they could try and aid in cleaning and repair.
I also do like that Charlie didn’t, as so far I’ve seen a lot of examples where Vaggie sacrifices more in the relationship, so I’m counting this as an example of Charlie taking Vaggie’s word/side.
They made the famous Alastor pic of him eating deer into an animation!
BTW with his room being part swamp and the writer’s love of making memes, how long before we get a Kermit the Frog joke from this? If the writers ever decide to do that, they should get YouTuber DevilArtemis to help since he knows a lot about Kermit :)
Another change in Al’s voice when he said “that’s a lot less fun”. Now thinking back to the last episode, Vox had something similar going on with his voice so maybe it’s a common trait for sinners like them but I feel like that is a too simple reason for Alastor of all characters.
Another example of Charlie’s reality altering illusions. Did I ever mention who I think she could fight in an episode of Death Battle?
Is Vaggie afraid to lead people? It is an interesting idea but we have seen her doing just that before, though I guess those previous time could be considered “angry outburst/feelings”. I am one of the people who thinks Vaggie is a former Exorcist and if there is the slightest chance that is true, I could see this being a reason why she left. A bit off topic but going back to something I said in my Overture review, this also would have worked for the alternate idea of how it was common for Heaven losing Exorcist every year till now, as maybe they “lost” some because they quit during/after Exterminations.
Technically Husk did catch Angel, so there is trust their but annoy him and he’ll stop helping.
IDK how to describe it, but its nice seeing the fun art style that Angel and Cherri were drawn as in the pilot return for Angel, Husk, and Pentious here.
With the situation you and Hell are in Charlie, any progress should be considered good.
So that guy’s name is Zestial Modre. You think he talks that way because he is chronologically very old, or just for effect as I’m guessing he’s the Overlord of Fear? You think DC Comics/Warner Bros. would be okay with Vivzie if she gave Zestial a power similar to Scarecrow’s fear gas or have his full demon form look similar to Parallax, the emotional entity of Fear? Viv worked with Disney for a bit, so I bet Warner Bros. would be okay if it meant getting one over their rival company.
If you turn on subtitles, one of the Egg Bois is named Frank. I recall it being said that the Eggs are cloned from an original Egg, so could Frank be said original?
Sure Al, nothing suspicious happened during your break.
Not even the Eggs know about the name thing.
An Overlord meeting!
I recall Zilla being tall, but not THAT tall. Also does any still ship her with that guy she was seen with in the pilot, the one who was laughing at Charlie and said they should leave?
Nearly everyone in Hell has sharped teeth, so how is Rosie any different Frank?
Apparently the VA of Carmilla is also a dancer, fitting given how Carmilla looks like a ballerina. Also as LK Yusei Fudo would say, “what is up with her hair”?
“Older generation vs. never generation” trope. How long before Velvette makes a “okay boomer” joke?
The Exorcist severed head! Didn’t see that coming!
Now apparently there are theories of Lilith being disguised as Rosie, which I could see, but I do want to point out that she was shocked at the severed Exorcist head. Lilith seems like a kind of actor, so she could have acted being surprised but it’s still something that should be pointed out.
Looks like Zestial agrees with me that it’s possible that something else could have killed the Exorcist. Also that it sounds like he IS very old, maybe even older than Sir Pentious.
I’m wondering if this scene could help later on if there is a future scene where people blame Charlie for moving up the next Extermination, but then Alastor and maybe the other Overlords defend her by revealing the severed head. If it means preventing Charlie from having a “all is hopeless” scene then I hope it does.
It is interesting that the sinners are divided about if they should use the knowledge of knowing Exorcist could be killed to fight back or wait till they either learn more or to not risk having the whole Pride Ring population be wiped out. Both sides make sense but also have their flaws.
Looks like Angel and Cherri have some competition with Zestial and Carmilla for the title of number 1 BFFS.
“Respectless” is my favorite HH song so far. Really love how it switches between opera music and rap.
HOLY CRAP ODETTE AND CARMILLA ARE RELATED!!! THIS is going to be fun and lead to some interesting discussions, like is she (and the other girl Odette is always with) adopted or did Carmilla and the others die and get sent to Hell around the same time?
Again I get that this is an M rated show, but the series is already good enough that I don’t think it always need to rely on extreme violence and NSFW stuff, as it kind of killed the mood after seeing what happened in the next see. Again, Family Guy.
WHY!
Another example of why the “Vaggie is a former Exorcist” theory could be true.
I bet Vaggie has been dreaming about thrown Angel to his doom XD.
Liking how Charlie said there are other ways to solve things, going back to an older comment about her and Lilith having different views of how to make Hell thrive.
I’m going to count this as Charlie and Vaggie’s first fight, but at least it’s a good one since its just Vaggie being mad at herself of her lack of leadership and Charlie being mad (more annoyed/concerned) of Vaggie unnecessarily blaming herself.
Confirmation that the other girl (named Clara) is also Carmilla’s daughter.
So Carmilla killed the exorcist. OR MAYBE she witnessed who really did and had to promise to not tell or else something bad would really happen to the point being the fall gal would be a slap on the wrist in comparison.
With Carmilla being against fighting Heaven, I wonder if she could become a potential Hell based ally of Charlie’s in the future. They both want to protect the people they care about from Heaven so I don’t see why not.
Vaggie’s line of “There’s so much I wished that I could say”, is ANOTHER possible hint at Vaggie’s Exorcist past.
Another great song, showing how similar Carmilla and Vaggie are, which again could help in making a future alliance between the Hotel and Overlord.
Yeah I shouldn’t be surprised that Alastor is going to keep the Exorcist info hidden, since he loves chaos. Also a possible an ally of that Roo character, who is on my list of possible characters being behind everything.
Again, Charlie and Vaggie are cute!
It’s adorable to see Pen sleep with the eggs like an actual snake.
SEE! THE EGGS CAN LEARN!
“character not realizing the dumb/innocent/etc. character is actually talking about something real and big to the story” trope.
I’m late bringing this up, but does anyone else think there should be end credit segments at the end of SOME episodes? I mean thanks to movies and videogames it is a surprise when there aren’t any, plus it would have been fun in some cases. Maybe they’ll do one for the season finale.
That was great episode! We got Overlords, great songs, hilarity, and some big reveals.
I really like the idea of Carmilla being a mother, as it adds more to the “always serious businesswoman” vibe she gives off. I’m also hoping it leads to pics where her daughters spend time with their “Uncle Zestial”. Speaking of which, he was a good new character to look about, reminds me a lot of Jack Skellington with a pinch of DC’s Scarecrow with his interest in fear.
We also got news about the dead Exorcist and while I’m okay if Carmilla did kill it with a weapon, I still like the idea of how she is taking the blame or else she will suffer by the hands of the true culprit. It also brings up the drama as the Vs could make this worse for everyone if they decide to get people to fight the Exorcist. At least if they do and fail, Charlie will no longer be the target of the sinner’s anger.
Nothing that bad besides that one creepy NSFW scene as it was annoying that it happened after a pretty big scene.Leave your thoughts about the episode below.

NATLA Episode 8 - Legends (3/4)
[Masterlist of my NATLA thoughts]
Of course, full spoilers ahead.
<previous/next>
Aang hearing all the past Avatar's advice to him before he makes his decision makes him merging with the ocean spirit make more sense and temporarily closes his character arc. Here's where I think people are riding on nostalgia and not seeing what this decision means to the live-action Aang. In the animated series, his decision to merge with the ocean spirit comes out of nowhere, he just somehow knows that he can merge and it'll unleash a 'super crazy powerful spirit attack' on the Fire Nation. There's not much more thought in it other than 'all hope is lost, we need a deus ex machina' and I just so happen to be able to do that. In the live action, Aang is following the advice of the past Avatars: Kuruk's indication that the elemental spirit's powers are greater than the Avatars, he's putting the needs of the world above his own, he's willing to give up his own future to secure one for everyone else, he's trying to do it alone (with the ocean spirit, but still), BUT he's still 'running away' - he's STILL having a power greater than himself do the heavy lifting.
Like we learn in the Guru episode in season 2, in order to take the Avatar state, you have to surrender everything, all your attachments, and become a conduit for pure energy - we see Aang do this as he takes a deep breath and his tattoos glow and his eyes light up, the echoing voices of all the past Avatars in his voice. He's surrendering, but as we'll (no doubt) see in future seasons, it wasn't a 'balanced' surrender. It was a surrender of despair and resignation of his fate. Through the next two seasons, I'm sure we'll see Aang working on how to take that state in a healthier manner.
I love Aang's speech here - about how he should have been lost 100 years ago, this isn't his time or his world - again calling back to how he couldn't save the air nomads, but he CAN save the people now, and he's willing to give up himself to do it. Because the power of the elemental spirits is far greater than even the power of the Avatar. So he gives himself to the ocean spirit to become wrath itself and save the world. I like that Aang's struggles revealed in The Storm episode of the animated series lingered until this episode - Aang struggling with not 'belonging' in this time is a huge aspect of who he is and I like that the live-action gave it room to breathe.
Iroh's relief at seeing Zuko alive is beautiful, meanwhile Zuko is staring slack-jawed at the giant fish screaming at the sky. It's pitch perfect that Zuko is ready to fight Koi-zilla for the Avatar - he's really that crazy and desperate to capture Aang! I think it was a great choice to merge parts of the first Agni Kai with Zhao in the animated series to this point in the live-action. Zhao and Zuko do face off during the siege, but Zhao in the live-action was always more of a cerebral antagonist to Zuko - they focused on that aspect of him rather than the physically imposing antagonist he was in the animated series.
This is Zuko taking out all his frustrations about his life out on a singular target - he's just 'lost' the Avatar for good, Zhao destroyed what little hope there was to reconnect with his father (as it looks like Zhao told Ozai Zuko is a traitor), and he tried to kill Zuko. Zuko thinks if he can just beat Zhao in a fight, maybe he'll get some manner of relief. Unfortunately, Zhao being the cerebral antagonist he is, physical defeat doesn't win the day - Zhao still beats Zuko by throwing the truth of his family dynamic in his face.
They moved the monologue Zuko gives to Aang about his relationship with Azula (while Aang is unconscious) to the fight with Zuko and Zhao. While I like both, I think having that convo as the 'send off' to Zuko in season 1 was a good choice. It makes Azula's presence felt in the narrative the entire time (because she was behind Zhao's successes) instead of her just being a random after thought that doesn't affect the story until season 2. Giving Zhao the speech to Zuko that destroys Zuko mentally was a great choice. Zuko has been running from the truth of his family for so long and Zhao knows it'll destabilize him. He lays it all out in the open - how Ozai wanted to get rid of Zuko and would never take him back, how he was just motivation for Azula, and how the favorite child had already been chosen: and it wasn't him. Everything Zuko had been working toward this season, burned to ash, revealed that it was never going to happen, all that hard work had been worthless.
In the animated series, Zuko just ends the season having lost the Avatar once again. In the live-action, he's destroyed not due to the Avatar, but because of his own family and their games. He's mentally broken far more than he was in the animated series and I think that will put him in a much more interesting position at the start of season 2. When he says 'I'm tired' at the end of the episode, it's not because it was just one more bid to capture the Avatar that failed, it's because his entire world has been shaken.
The Ocean spirit confronting the Fire Nation ships was haunting. No music, just the sound of panicked shouting, the low moaning of the spirit, and the horns of the ships. It's such an eerie scene and even though they're the enemies, you feel the terror now taking the Fire Nation as they face down the wrath of an elemental spirit. Yue explaining how the ocean spirit will wander the world forever looking for its partner but never find it gives me chills every time. It's such a tragic concept and the way they juxtapose that with Katara calling out for Aang, being there to pull him back, is really beautiful.
I love that they give Yue the agency in her choice to give her life back to the moon spirit. In the animated show, Iroh notices her eyes and suggests she can do something, in the live-action, Sokka is looking for ideas and she realizes it herself and chooses to give up her life for the spirit. It's such a great touch that she can still waterbend - because she has the moon in her. Her speech about how it's worth it to live, even for a night, is something that belies all the advice of the past Avatars - they argue to hold yourself apart, to sacrifice any wants of your own for the sake of the world. But Yue argues that it's worth the risk of losing things you love - getting the chance to feel that love is worth the pain of losing it.
Katara talking Aang down out of the Avatar state and control of the ocean spirit was so well placed here. Like I've said before, I think having Gyatzo's memory calm Aang in the first episode rather than Katara like happens in the animated series and moving Katara's speech to the end of the season was a fantastic choice. It bookends the lesson of the season for Aang - letting go of the past so he can start moving on into the future. Katara's pleas that 'we're a family now' to Aang in episode 3 of the animated series feels hollow - we accepted that line because it's a kid's show and they wanted to hammer home to us that these three kids are going to be your protagonists going forward and they'll be a family. But until that point, they'd known each other for a few days - they weren't ACTUALLY a family. Here, at the end of the season, that claim of family has been earned. They've built the foundation of a real connection that's been battle tested and tried many times. It's TRUE that they're a family now, that this IS his world and he's more than 'just the Avatar'.
The ocean spirit turning to look at the restored moon is such a beautiful shot - honestly this whole thing is shot just so beautifully.
"The world needs you. I need you." That statement is soo true and I love how it was shown through the season before being told to us.
Aang is exactly the person the world needs now - someone who knows the suffering and loss of this world, but also knew a better one where people were kind and helpful and there was no strict divide between the nations. His childlike belief in the goodness of humanity is what's needed in an Avatar for this time, not a hardened person who's never seen diplomacy work. If fate was at play when Aang got frozen in that ice, then it knew what it was doing: Aang is the only Avatar soul that would be able to save the world now.

oceanic, tides, and whirlpool for any if your sillies!! <3
Tumblr media
Second ask by @cauli-flawa
[The ask game]
Alright!! Time to answer these questions!! ( ✧ω✧) Sorry for takin' so long, i tried to draw somethin' for the asks, but i don't have anything... Sorry...
OCEANIC - What are your OC’s view on the world around them? Do they see it as something vast and beautiful, or something deep and terrifying? How does their upbringing and culture relate to how they see things now?
★ For Fal, everything is beautiful and wonderful, although naturally there are times where the world seems terrifying. For someone who has only been a spectator, a hologram unable to interact with his surroundings, Fal has a mixed vision: He wants to do many things, explore places and try new things but is also aware and afraid of dangers. i find the part of “How does their upbringing and culture relate to how they see things now?” A bit complicated, but… i guess more than culture, Fal tends to associate specific people and places with individuals and past experiences… Look at it this way: The different faces he sees are classified and arranged in a “closet”. He divided all the humans, Puffballs, and other creatures he had met by type and kept them in drawers of a cabinet to take out when necessary. There aren't two people that are completely identical, but they were similar in some ways. Even with a person he had never met, he would respond to that person based on the information in his drawers. Still, he tends to be somewhat reckless and clumsy in his interactions due to his anxiety
TIDES - How do they cope with change? Is it something they welcome, or is it something they avoid? Do you have any examples of a change they’ve had (long or short term) and their reaction to said change?
★ i would say when Fal was given his body. For those who don't know, Fal was originally a hologram that resided in a device called the "Master Terminal." Zero left him in a very bad state, but luckily, Lor found him and convinced Susie and Magolor to repair it. In the end they built a body for him... At first, he was confused and greatly terrified by this. Now he has a physical form, he could touch things and people could touch him. For Fal that was an abrupt change, even today he is not completely used to it. This is one of the reasons why he has haphephobia. Let's say that in the long term, it is a change to which he has not adapted very well. As for how he copes with this, well, he has a hard time... Considering his haphephobia, i don't think he's doing well...
WHIRLPOOL - Was their ever a point in your OC’s life where they felt like it was spiraling out of control? What caused it? Were they able to recover from the event, or did it permanently change them?
i will include Snow here
Fal:
Many, many events affected him, several of them caused by the same thing: Trusting and not being informed of the situation. There have been countless times in which Fal did not have control of the situation, or he did not have the full picture and this led to unfortunate situations. Starting with the lies of his creator that ended in the death of innocents, the death of Snow White, Marx's pranks and some other moments in the tournament, such as the confrontation with Zilla or several of his conversations with Dolos that ended in disasters. Absolutely everything has affected him, and perhaps we will see the impact that all that had on him in the future...
Tumblr media
Snow White:
The event that affected Snow the most and that she had no control over would be the survival game. You can watch clips on Youtube or the anime of Magical girl Raising Project to understand what i couldn't explain, just watch this and get an idea of the things Snow had to go through in her youth. Another moment that severely affected her was the death of her mentor. It was during the survival game that she lost several loved ones, including her... Snow has seen herself as someone weak for being a dead weight because she wasn't a fighter and it was for this reason that she trained to the limit to be able to protect people and avoid losing her friends again
CORAL REEFS - Does your OC depend on anyone? If so, who and in what way? Is this relationship one sided, or do both parties benefit from each other? If they don’t depend on anyone, why not?
★ i think that Fal, even with his knowledge and competent skills, is not someone who could live by his own. Maybe he can defend himself, but he definitely couldn't become independent. He is a virtual assistant, an AI designed to serve others. Being useful and helping others is the most important thing for him
He is too emotionally and psychologically dependent on Snow White. She is his best friend, the first who treated him as a person and not as an object and also to whom he swore loyalty. In Dreamland Fal depends on others because he is not familiar with the place or its people. He is dependent on Magolor, Susie and Lor out of necessity. Snow actually depends on Fal right now because he is the only person she can trust and guide her while also, she is attached to him. Magolor and Fal always talk about the Ancients, so Magolor is always happy to have Fal around. They talk for HOURS
WAVES - What is one healthy method your OC uses to relax? What is one unhealthy method?
Snow White:
She is not one to relax, in fact she is quite similar to Wolfbell in keeping things to herself and appearing calm even when she is not well. i don't think she has any healthy or unhealthy method to relax and if she does, she doesn't resort to this method when she needs it. The correct words are: She has unhealthy cope mechanism
Fal:
To summarize: Fal has several methods, the most normal and healthy would be the classic ones: Breathing exercises, doing some productive activity to distract the mind and body, he also uses his hobbies to relax, like stargazing...
On the other hand, other more unhealthy methods would be: eating when stressed, biting things... He tends to eat things he shouldn't too :/
Another one is break things when he is EXTREMELY angry. There was a time were he couldn't leave the Lor because of the damage he was doin' to the Whispy Woods

Mighty Ducks the Animated Series Headcanons
GOOD GUYS
Wildwing: Bi, Aromatic. Type, Canard & Tanya. His heart belongs to his childhood best friend Canard, but I think Tanya could’ve made him happy too, if you want to go that route.
Canard: Gay. Type, Wildwing. It’s always been Wildwing. He thinks he’s being subtle but everyone can see it, except Wildwing of course.🙄😑🤷🏻‍♀️
Nosedive: Straight, but open minded if the right guy came along. Type, he thinks it’s “gorgeous and sexy” (typical teenage boy), but it’s really “fun and quirky”. So basically thinks it’s Lucretia when it’s actually Tanya lol. For guys, someone caring and wise like Duke or Grin, but they’re too old for him, so they’re just friends.
Duke: Pan with a female preference. I blame Falcone for scaring him emotionally and making him hesitant to try men again. He is a little attracted to Wildwing but there’s the age difference and the whole he’s the leader thing, it’d be too much drama.
Tanya: Same scenario as Duke, Pan with a preference for males, because Lucretia messed with her head and heart so badly in the past. She keeps herself busy so she has an excuse not to try again.
Grin: Ace. Ace-est of the Ace. King of Aces. Ace-Zilla. Mountain of Ace. You get the idea.
Mallory: Straight as she shoots. I like to think she had a little crush on Canard back in the day but it was really just misinterpreted respect and admiration. She’s subconsciously attracted to “bad boys” (*cough*Duke*cough*).
Thrash: Pan, Asexual. In a polygamist relationship with his two roommates, one guy and one gal.
Mookie: Lesbian with a steady live-in girlfriend she’s been dating since Junior High. If they ever broke up, Mookie would ugly-cry.
Phil: Closet Gay. Not even the Ducks know. He dates but only when out of town and eventually all his relationships end sadly, because of his unwillingness to be open about them. He’s worried being outed will ruin his business aspersions (keep in mind, the show was set in mid to late nineties after all, things were even harder for the LGBTQA+ community back then, especially in California).
Captain Kleghorn: Straight, widower turned voluntary bachelor. He has lady friends he invites to important events and goes dancing with, but it’s very clearly a “just as friends” thing for lonely seniors.
BAD GUYS
Lucretia: Lesbian, but knows she’s extremely attractive to most people with an interest in females and uses it to her full advantage. Seduces for fun and/or profit. Curses herself for actually falling for Tanya, because that ship has not only sailed, it sank a LONG time ago.
Falcone: The term “Disaster Gay” looks like a tailored made suit on this fella. He’s still down to F, but Duke ain’t stupid. Not happening, nope!
Dragonus: Gay. I mean, come on! Tim Curry is his voice actor, that accent is too delicious to waste on Heterosexuality lol. Dragonus was extremely popular on his homeworld but his egotism and violent streak ruined all his relationships.
Wrath: Ace by choice. Tony Jay made him sound just so done with the universe in general lol! I headcannon that Wrath is so old, he’s seen and done everything and has better things to do with his time than date.
Chameleon: Pan. I tend to think all shapeshifters are Pan. I mean, when you literally can become ANYTHING… 🤷🏻‍♀️ I like to think he has a little crush on Siege, but the big bulldozer is too stupid to notice, and Chameleon is ok with that.
Siege: Straight, but he’s an idiot, so he’s got no game.😛
SHIPS
Wildwing/Canard. They’ve been in love since they were Ducklings, but both we’re afraid of ruining their friendship, so they dated other people. Eventually they got themselves in a row (get it? Because they’re Ducks? 🦆😜) and end up together. No one is surprised.🙄😑😅 Ship names preference is Team Captains, but I also like Leadership, always was a sucker for a good pun.😁👍🏼
Nosedive/Tanya: No one saw this coming, not even them, but it oddly works so well for them. Like an opposites attract kind of thing. Grin calls it “Karmic Convergence”, which makes protective big brother Wildwing very uncomfortable lol! 😅 Duke and Mallory are also protective of Tanya, whom Duke thinks of as a little sister and Mal as her best friend, so there’s a lot of “Shovel Talking” going on at first. Grin and Canard just try to stay out of it but privately approve of how the couple balance each other out. I’ve never heard a ship name for them, so I’m inventing VanderFlash, a combo of their family names, Vanderflock and Flashblade. It just sounds cool.🤷🏻‍♀️😅
Duke/Mallory: Blatant “Hostility is actually Mutual Reluctant Attraction” if I ever saw it. Practically canon. They, like Nosedive and Tanya, are opposites who attract, except Duke and Mal are chaotic lol! Again, I can’t recall any ship names. Please educate me if you know any really good ones💜😘

Was trying to brush my teeth and I feel this little cutie trying to paw at me to get some attention
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mei Mei has been extra snuggly and friendly now that she's feeling better*.
She's a little more aloof than the others, especially compared to Zilla, our little introvert, but she still likes contact, as long as she's the one to initiate. She just doesn't like to be hugged on like Hook or Buttons, and that's absolutely fine. Cats have preferences and boundaries too, and just because I'm a bigger creature doesn't mean I should ignore her established rules of contact. And right now, she wants to headbutt me, which is actually a nice display of mutual trust and respect from a cat, by the way. Be sure to return that with a nice forehead touch if possible, cats love that sort of affection~
* She had a bit of a worm problem that she'd gotten from eating a bug that got in the house, but she, the other kitties and Tori all got the treatment and further preventive meds because rural indoor pets can still get this stuff from things that hitch a ride into the house somehow. Friendly Reminder to keep up with your pets' vaccines and preventive Healthcare, especially if they're indoor animals. A flea or an infected bug can still get past the threshold of your domicile and bite or be ingested. Parasites are definitely a major squick of mine, I especially hate it when they try to infect those I care about, bleh...

Reacting to live action AtLA - ep 8
Spoilers warning, for the final time.
..
Okay, fresh off my extreme dislike at episode 7's choice to have Aang not support Katara (seriously, I will hold onto that grudge with a fierceness that would put OG Katara to shame even. Worst change of the entire season for me.) I'm still grumpy, but I won't have time to watch tomorrow, so I just wanna get it over with. They have a lot to make up to me. :P
..
Okay.. finally we get to see them fight together. Bout dang time. Where was THIS for the past 7 episodes? This is what we needed for Team Avatar-building.
Katara leading the other women.. I can deal with this change too. And she got given charge of the newbie recruits too. Again, I can do this.
The Ice Moon? Okay new plot twist. Let's see if you're passable or lame.
Lion turtle mention alert.
MOMO! I swear to goodness, this is the worst. Also, I knew the Oasis would look gorgeous in live action. Okay, he's better but I'm still not okay with that happening in the first place. :( Dirty trick.
So.. not gonna have Iroh threaten/disagree with Zhao?
Nice little icy straight jacket, though I'm ticked that apparently Zuko in this version can immediately bust out. Meh. I enjoyed the idea from the first of her having the upper hand for a while the moon was out.
Zhao calling out Ozai and his stupid games. Finally Iroh at least telling him he'll unleash on him.. though he didn't bother to try and actually DO anything yet. Yeah, there it is, finally!
This fight.. oof. It's intense. And it's nice to have a version where we don't have to hate Hahn. lol
YES, time for Aang as Koi-zilla. Kick some Zhao (and other fire nation) butt, Koizilla.
Ha, yes, firebending duel on a bridge. Way to not draw attention to yourselves from the fish giant that's utterly pissed at firebenders. I do enjoy the aangsty discourse though.
Hold up. Iroh took Zhao out, not the ocean spirit? I mean, I guess it's busy with the armada, but still. I liked it getting to mete out the justice for its pair.
Man, these poor water tribe siblings.. Sokka watching his girlfriend turn into the moon, Katara begging Aang to come back..
This does give a bit more of a reason/transition for Pakku to change his mind on training women, better than "well, you're my old girlfriend's daughter." I'm still unclear on how Katara was deemed a master as she got literally zero training in this version.
Azula taking over Omashu, getting word that the comet is "soon".. and done.
..
Okay, this episode didn't make me near as stabby as the last (though they really didn't have to mess with Momo like that.) The fight was intense, but all the fight scenes have looked pretty good so I expected that. While I loved that Katara was declared a master, I still don't see how since she didn't get any teaching at all. And overall it seems an absolutely bizarre choice for Aang to not bend any water in the water book.
I dunno, mostly I'm glad to be done, okay with having watched it, and absolutely thrilled that the animated version is still there. I will probably start up a rewatch of that soon as a nice palate cleanser. LOL My thoughts on this haven't changed since halfway through - if I had seen just this live-action I might have enjoyed it more as I wouldn't know what I was missing, it would have been a show that I completed.. but it wouldn't have spurred me on to need "more" (hunting out others to obsess with, looking up fanfic, etc) the way the original did. The characters in this got better/more interesting, but took like 7 episodes to do so.. and that's entirely too long in an 8-episode season. And even by the end they weren't as engaging as their animated counterparts (NOT a commentary on the actors.. the scenes where they were given emotional dialogue, they did well. Just.. well there was a ton of splitting them up or sort of flat writing sometimes. Can't do much with that.)

Liveblogging the kong vs godzilla movie atm
The camera shots are so damn funny. Don't worry about what you're looking at, just look wide and long.
Yeah so kong is gonna be underneath you but the shots for this are gonna be bust height so just. Kinda. Look down and reach out.
All the technology is just goofy. Hold up this thing the size of a camera and learn how many broken bones Kong has.
We just so happen to have a bionic arm here but never bothered using it. It also doubles as a ship but we wont use it that way. And heals frostbige
Is it spoilers to say there's two Godzillas? Talk about a sun moon duo.
There are almost no shots with humans and Kong in the same shot. The size difference? Hard to CGI? Who knows.
Do more creatures live on the cieling of subearth? Or is it just trees, ambient light, and portals?
I kinda hate that the deaf girl, who speaks sign language and has these cinematic moments of silence when shes talking, finds more of her people.... who speak in telepathy. Not their own sign language, theres no barrier. Feels like its overriding something? Idk.
I do love me a pink Godzilla
All the technolgy is SO advanced for how? What reason?
Mothra being the mom in this but also why they make her so hot??
The dentist is so fucking funny. I should say at this point I have not seen the first movie but still. Hes hilarious.
The Kong beard...
Gravity took out the power battery thing!! My guy. You sound crazy. What is the tech in this. Why are people in cars but Kong has a Mech Arm.
So much for keeping it in subearth
For the life of me I Almost wish this was full animated or something so it wasn't just Monkey shot Human shot Zilla shot Monkey 2 Zilla 2 Human Monkey. No one is near each other unless theyre animated the same.
Zilla 2 is sooooooooooooo prettyyyyyyyy

"You can pet him if you like, Zilla won't bite." Jun of course was talking about their Tegu/best friend/coolest thing in the entire world. The beast was about the size of a small dog, and acted like one at times.
"Thank you again for watching him on such short notice, my usual pet sitter canceled on me last minute and not to be mean but I don't really trust a 12 year old to take care of the guy. It's not too hard, I already have food prepared in the fridge," labeled nicely they might add, "and you don't need to hang around for too long. Just make sure you put him in his cage if you're not here."
The mission was only for three days, but the kid could be so cautious when it came to his animals, it's like their entire soul went into these creatures.
"And you don't have to worry about the Tokay gecko or the Skink. Akane said she'd deal with them, she's the only one that Hot Sauce won't try to bite and I'm pretty sure she'd steal Scarlett from me and the Skink would be fine with it." The only reason why Jun didn't make her take care of Zilla is simply because the Tegu wasn't really a fan of the girl.
"That's...a lot," Kakashi whispered as he eyed the Tegu. He wasn't afraid of the little one like others might be, but he knew enough of reptiles, in general, to be cautious around them. "and don't worry about it, I can't go anywhere anyways and I can't summon the hounds, so we'll be keeping each other company."
A downside of chakra exhaustion was that even if the Hospital released him to heal at home, he was unable to really do anything. Most days he preferred to stay in the hospital because it kept others from bothering him too much, but when Jun had asked him for a favor he couldn't think of a single reason to say no.
"I'll even be nice and keep Bizuke away from him."
It might seem ridiculous for a Ninkin, but Bizuke was still a dog at heart. A dog who loved to bite at snakes and other reptiles, as Kakashi had learned the first time he tried to introduce the hounds to Anko's snakes.

For the Saileen wedding festivities...
Cas and Dean are lying quietly in bed, settling in for the night early because (they’re old) they have to wake up early in the morning. More wedding stuff to be done, and Garth is coming over to start making centerpieces. It’s almost comical how quickly their lives turned around from fighting God from an underground bunker to arguing with a florist over the price of chrysanthemums (too damn much; Cas won that fight though).
Cas snuggles closer, his head nudging under Dean’s chin, and sighs. “Oh, Sam asked me to be his best man today.” he says sleepily, trailing a finger up Dean’s softly padded ribs.
“What?”
“Sam asked me to be his best man,” Cas repeats, confused, because he recognizes a less than positive tone in his husband’s voice. “For his wedding?”
Dean sits up suddenly and looks at him. “What? My brother asked you to be his best man? What the fuck?”
Cas squints at him. “Sam and I are very close friends, Dean. I don’t think it’s that extraordinary.”
Dean has a hand on his hip. This is not going well. “And what am I, huh? Chopped liver?” Cas opens his mouth to reply but Dean holds a hand up. “Don’t answer that. I’m his fucking brother, we’ve literally been to hell and back-” another more insistent hand up to hold against Cas’s interjection which was most certainly going to point out that he and Sam had also been to hell and back together. “Oh fuck no,” he climbs out of bed, already pulling on his pajama pants where he discarded them before getting in bed.
“Dean, where are you going?”
“To talk to my brother.”
“Dean, it’s late and-”
“Cas, I’m going to talk to my brother. This is bullshit. You’re the one who’s always saying I should talk more, well,” Dean throws his hands up, and he would look adorable if he weren’t so angry, with his rucked up hair and pajama set and wild eyes. No, scratch that, he does look adorable.
Cas rolls his eyes and gives up. “Okay, well, drive safely.”
Dean waves him off, already halfway out the door.
------------------------
Sam is not expecting any visitors.
He’s halfway down into his place next to Eileen on the couch, ready for his first ever viewing of The Exorcist (it hit too close to home growing up, but he and Eileen are working on picking up on the shit they missed out on because of hunting), when he hears someone pounding on the door like there’s been a murder.
Given the fact that any of his friends and family members would be much calmer if there’d been a murder, he can assume it’s not that. Given the fact that they have a perfectly functioning doorbell six inches from their doorknob, Sam can guess who it is.
“Coming!” Sam rolls his eyes and turns to give Eileen an apologetic glance.
One second - Dean’s at the door. He signs and leans in for a peck. She pulls him into a kiss that really should not happen right before he opens the door to his brother, but he’s not complaining when he pulls away after a few seconds.
Hurry back. There is a devilish glint in her eyes that Sam recognizes.
Yes, ma’am.
Sam leaves his fiancée with a scrunched up nose at being called ma’am and pulls open the front door. Dean freezes midair with his fist raised, halfway through another thudding knock. “What the fuck,”
Sam and Dean had made a deal after the first month post-chuck, and that deal included no non-emergency unplanned drop-ins after 8:00. Dean had agreed to it only after they both installed Life360 on their phones and got automated (and supernaturally modified) alarm systems for both their houses. So this was a breach.
“You asked Cas to be your best man?”
Sam sighs. He should’ve known his brother would freak out over this. “Yeah, we’re-”
“I thought we were good, Sammy! I mean I know I was a little uptight at first, with the moving out and the figuring stuff with Cas out and all that, but I thought we figured that out! We did the boundaries and that shit, Sammy you took me to fucking couples’ therapy!”
“It wasn’t couples’ therapy, it was group therapy, and it was for both-”
“I don’t give a shit! And then you ask my husband to be your best man instead of me? Your own damn brother?”
Sam blinks. “Dean.”
“What? You got a problem, you come talk to me about it! Isn’t that what we fucking decided?”
“Dean, listen,”
“No, it’s bullshit!”
Sam sighs and closes the door behind them, backing Dean up onto the porch. The cool spring made him hug his arms close to his chest. If Sam didn’t know better, he’d say Dean was shivering, but he did know better, so he knew his brother was shaking. And that meant that he was actually really fucking nervous about this. Shit. “Dean, I didn’t ask you to be my best man because I want you to give me away.”
Dean blanches. There’s a beat of silence where they both just look at each other. “What?”
Sam shrugs, feeling weird about saying it now. “Yeah, well, Eileen said that walking down the aisle at the end made her feel like she was an animal at a circus, so we decided I would.” He pauses, sure Dean’s about to make fun of him for another gender non-conforming move at his wedding, but he’s still too shell-shocked to be a smart ass, apparently. “And generally, the person who walks down last has someone give them away…”
“Yeah, like their dad.”
Sam raises his eyebrows. “Yeah, I don’t think Dad and I are really there… yet.” Or that they ever will be, but there’s no need to go into that now. Dean always gets this constipated look on his face when they talk about John. “Besides, I kinda want the person to give me away to be the guy that raised me, so…” he shrugs again. “I want you to do it.”
Dean has gone completely silent and he’s staring up at Sam either like he kicked his puppy or he’s just named himself the Pope.
“Uh, Dean?” He waves a hand in front of his face. “You in there? Breathe.”
Dean frowns at him but obeys and takes a deep, shuddering breath. “You want me to walk you down the aisle?” he whispers hoarsely.
Sam laughs, recognizing his face for the I’m-trying-not-to-break-down-crying face now. “Yeah, man. You’re my big brother. Of course I want you in my wedding. I just… I want you to be in the right place.”
It takes another few seconds of staring, but then Dean breaks into a wide grin and pulls him into a bone-crushing hug. “Fuck, Sammy, of course I’ll give you away, you fucking princess,”
Sam barks out a breathless laugh, not even sure if Dean’s trying to insult him anymore with the pet-name. “Great.”
Dean pulls back. “Does this mean I don’t get to make a best man speech? Because I’ve already got half my jokes planned.”
Sam grins. “Unfortunately, you can still make a speech. Just keep the sex jokes to a minimum, okay?”
Dean chuckles. “That ain’t your call, Sammy. Eileen’s gonna love it.”
“Shit, so it’s gonna be really bad.” Dean winks at him. He’s gonna need to make sure he drinks before that speech. “Alright, now can you get off my fucking porch? I love you and all but you’re ruining date night.”
Dean rolls his eyes and pats him on the shoulder. “Yeah, yeah, old man, go and enjoy your boring old stay-in date night like the nursing home patient you are.”
Sam fixes him with a bitchface. “You act like I don’t know you’re about to go crawl into bed with your husband and go to sleep just so you can wake up early and do the crossword before Garth gets there.”
Dean freezes only a second, but Sam wins. “Shut up.” he says quickly, finally retreating back to where the Impala’s parked on the street. “Tell Eileen hi for me!” he adds excitedly.
Sam grins and waves. It’s only when he’s going back inside to Eileen that it hits him how fucking lucky he is, to have a brother who cares so much and a family all around him like this. The love of his life sitting on her phone with a bowl of popcorn and m&ms in her lap waiting for him. He sits back down on the couch and signs Sorry about that - wedding stuff to Eileen.
She rolls her eyes. He freaking out again?
Always.
Such a brother-of-the-groom-zilla.
Sam laughs and grabs a handful of popcorn, signing again once he’s stuffed it in his mouth. Ready to make demons fun again?
Eileen nods, grinning. No talking about how you would hunt the monster better this time.
Sam scoffs. Like you won’t.
Eileen laughs and presses play.

My own selves (Autism Awareness Month post). Second Part
Continuing with the special post I publish for these last days of Autism Awareness Month, describing about myself in the shape of two different but coexisting forms of my mind, I will introduce you to the second being of this universe of mine:
Tumblr media
And here, this would be the oldest and biggest of the duo. A strange kaiju-like creature the size of two ice cream vans. Her weird appearance is the result of an interpretative amalgamation between monsters I appreciated and thought about since the first time I saw them, be them from animated cartoons or movies. Born since my seven to eight years, despite her overreactive or obsessive tendencies, she tries the best to live peacefully and fine in a world that would not be so fond of her
What she would represent on me and my ASD?:
Mainly, the ever-lasting appreciation I have for dragons and giant monsters, or as we call these last ones recently, kaijus. Since the 7-year old me watched the infamous Zilla movie on TV, there was like a small unexplainable spark moment: Something about it…Something about that giant lizard grew on me, sprouting a liking few girls (and people here in Bolivia) would share, and learning about that world via Internet (random music videos with scenes of a film. This is the main reason I knew the original Godzilla and his pals, not just the Monsterverse era). While her first look ressembled creatures like Zilla, it changed during the years the same time I met and appreciated any new of those giant creatures, or their closest relatives, dragons: From the kaiju I like the most: the terrible but amazing Ghidorah (head shape and horns), to the King of the Monsters itself: Godzilla (legs and dorsal spines), including the bizarre but agile Otachi from Pacific Rim (glowing marks and flying membranes), the armored Anguirus (nose horn and small metal spikes at the tail), and the metallic Gigan (belly saw-like thorns). Movies weren't the only source of this knowledge and her shape, however. Any monster from a well-known to forgotten (or less interesting) cartoon had a place on my heart: From the more-than-wasted potential on the Twin Destructors from TTG as the only thing I would appreciate of that cartoon (the main eyes, horns and the grey spikes at the tail tip) to the coexistence and marvelous interpretation of mythological creatures at Equestria in MLP:FIM in the shapes of the Cockatrice (striped fur growing from the neck to the chest, membrane wings' shape and small eyes' shape), the Hydra (the small pointy spikes on the purple hair, eyebrows, paws and the glowing cyan thorns at the tail), and the Tatzlwurm (bug-like teeth distribution, the fuchsia fur feathers growing at the neck and part of the tail tip. She has a tongue that splits into multiple ones like that creature, but she shows it only when angry); including some parts of that Star Vs The Forces of Evil multi-eyed Hydra (the central eye, part of the muzzle's shape, and the striped pattern at the neck) and recently, taking some of the fierce looks of THAT unexpected climax (to not spoil it) from Turning Red (claws, small eyes' design and tail shape and colors).
Picky, but worthy to remember: Her strange body, while being an amalgamation of multiple kaijus and creatures I love, shapes and alters itself only with certain monsters I find outstanding from all the rest, to make her both functional and also powerful: Those with spikes at the tail as a defense weapon, those with multiple heads, or at least those who are dragon or worm-like could have more chances of being the chosen ones who I would think about for DAYS and be hyperfixated into, this also depending on their abilities and uniqueness. This not only applies with kaijus and beasts, though. It also occurs in my life during my decisions: Not any spaghetti or pizza will be openly given a chance just by existing or being popular. It has to be either one with a factor that calls my attention (like toppings) and I feel I would remember for the rest of my life because of it.
Noise-Sensitive: A kaiju wouldn't fear anything it encounters, right? For this form, this declaration sounds like a joke when dealing with her (and my) main phobia: Repentine loud noises. Living in Bolivia, a folcloric country, means living with constant protests and dance parades, most of them including noisy fireworks, firecrackers and all types of pyrotechnics (even party poppers); things that she (and I) would prefer watching in a screen with regulated volume than near with loud booms without ear protection. And don't EVER tell her about balloons. The only sight of one of them fallen into the ground or a small child handling one carelessly like a toy makes her feel anxious. All those awful experiences during my life meant a conditional fear sensation she feels everytime I have to go to a kid's birthday party, any folclorical parade or nearby protest concentration, and even during Carnival and New Year. She and I would rather escape and hide away of those things, as she can't go and tell the responsibles to keep their pyrotechnics away from her personally. It would be rude and desconsiderate for them: It would be uncomfortable they stop others' joy because of one person.
Details I know, but no one else does: Sometimes, when experiencing a new event, playing a videogame, or just watching a movie or cartoon, one can just focus on the main environment or story it provides, sometimes overlooking small details from it: minor characters, lesser plot points, the shape of a particular object on a wide place. This form of mine, however, with its selective body shaping and adapting, has given me the chance of noticing those less-than-researched facts: While I enjoy most cartoons because of curiosity of their world and characters; when there's a event, even a 2-minute long one, where a peculiar creature or kaiju appears to take any role (be it a villain, a good pal or just a neutral reactive being) on a single episode, I can remember and explain it better than most of the main points of the story: Which scene it appeared, what was its role, what it did, how it looked like, what did the characters do with it…This quirky event occured many times with creatures that no one would look further than just another piece on an episode: Every creature of MLP (mostly the Hydra, the Cockatrice and the Tatzlwurm), the Twin Destructors, Penn Zero's kaiju form in one episode of his series. Most people would ignore those moments and just focus on the main plot or routine of those cartoons. But I would not let them pass so easily thanks to it, even if no one remembers it. In the real world, this happens too: Sure, I have memories of the main event, like a trip or a party, but I would remember mostly things that called my attention but not from others: Like a special breed of dog living near the hotel's room, the taste of a smoothie, the color of a room, those "Come Back Soon" or "Have a safe journey home" posters on the main road, even a ortographic mistake on a sign! Things that if I talk about them with my family or friends, they would surely don't know what I refer...
Sometimes over-reactive: Remember when they say something like "You better not upset forces of nature" in terms of not messing with a kaiju? Well, this is one of this form's less-than-friendly attitudes. No matter how long she can keep herself calm by just trying to ignore whatever upsets her. No matter how she tries to see the positive or necessary side of things when they go wrong or unpleasant. If there is a constant worry on my head: be it a college proyect, my grades, an exam, not managing to accomplish something even if it's a small handcrafted toy; and something spills the milk of the glass by bothering me more, beware. While she learned to not push people, pull their clothes or mildly hitting them if they pick on her to avoid being feared and hated by everyone, she can become way moody. Not wanting to talk to anyone, talk grumpingly, acting rude at any small question or suggest, or raising her voice. A small feeble thing can become the source of anger should it bother me. Learning from people's reactions to those actions of mine, while she practices any methods to become less reactive to help me, she sometimes remembers those times when her attitude brought her and me hard troubles, and regrets them deeply, even sometimes wishing she wasn't ever born.
Stimming: While for most creatures making some repetitive noises or moves is normal and part of their behavior, it looks a bit odd for a human. However, there are times when, while processing some thoughts or trying to calm herself, this form makes dog-like noises, repeats phrases on her mind or according to anything she listens in that moment, moves her feet like a rabbit does or just taps her fingers on her hips; making me do the same, even in public. While I sometimes I try to refrain of making these things to appear more normal, they sometimes occur involuntarily.
Being the oldest and kinda wisest of the duo, she knows every experience on my life and how to deal with danger. Being a partner and frenemy of the mascot form, she sometimes disagrees with her masking actions, as it would bring a potential risk of apparenting something I'm not to everyone else, and be a disappointment when the truth is discovered. However, because of her own mistakes and misgivings, she sometimes runs to the mascot self in the need of help: wanting advices of how to become less reactive or bear things (the best possible) she hates the most; secretly wanting to learn to appreciate cute things like she does. After all, people would prefer a cat monkey in real life than a kaiju.
And well. This is all for this special post I made for this special month. I've never been so openly talktative with anyone befor about this topic. Mostly, I just share it with someone I feel I can trust, and slowly. I used to feel ashamed of being diagnosed with ASD due to some of my attitudes and quirks in my life, alongside how people see it as a curse and the free-pass to mocking anyone just because my point of view it's not the ever-changing trend of the year. But during these last years, I could see not only how this perception has changed, even for a little, but also how I did manage to make things in life when others thought it would be difficult. I'm now in college, just one year before graduation, I have good grades, I have friends and even close classmates. I wouldn't think that would be possible for a girl like me back then.
Thanks to everyone who supported me in those 21 (22 at this April 29) years I embarked a journey in this world.

Favourite thing about them: disclaimer: I've never actually watched Godzilla the animated series, everything I know about the show has thus far has come from YouTube clips. However my favourite thing is probably her atomic blast, since you wouldn't guess she has one just by looking at her, then suddenly bam there it is
Least favourite thing about them: the fact that I know so /little/ about her, I really need to watch the show
Favourite line: (pushes turtle titan off a cliff)
BrOTP: her and Zilla/Zilla's family
OTP: She doesn't have any S/O in my au as it stands, but I'll do some more delving into the gaps in my knowledge and we'll see if this changes
NOTP: (see above)
Random headcannon: both loves cuddles and gives the BEST cuddles
Unpopular opinion: as much as I love Fodie, Nanta and Delmar, Komi and Zilla were very cute in their episode and honestly deserved more
Song I associate them with: As far as my AU goes, probably TRIALS by Starset
Favourite picture of them: I have very few pictures saved of her but my current favourite is the one I use for reference

(Casey Here!)
As much D&D as I play, you'd imagine I would eventually get around to illustrating some of their most iconic monsters! Which is to say, the ones that I personally find the most iconic. Which is to say, the ones I memorized when I was reading my dad's monster manual at age nine. Purple worm - Sandworms never go out of style. I've seen a lot of rad designs for this bugger over the editions, but I favor the slightly less reptilian older takes for this particular critter. It's kinda basic, but sometimes that's what you want. It's like a shark or a crocodile: Just flat out unchanged across the ages. Hook horror - I've heard it rumored that Gygax used a small Gigan figure to represent this monster. I can't verify that, but it definitely sounds right. Hook horrors are one of the very first things you meet when you play around in the caves, and they kind of remind me of the Father Deep monsters of the Hork Bajir homeworld that way. Mind flayer - Mind flayers! Basically, take all of your Dracula conventions and dip them in a fresh coat of Lovecraft. There's that old "decadent aristocratic upper caste system who literally eats the poor, but still somehow comes across as less evil than the actual real life 1%" setup that will never stop being relevant. Though personally, I see mind flayers as the first alternative for folks who want to play that monster-who-feels-the-urge-to-eat-their-friends-but-refuses-to-do-it shtick but don't want to deal with vampire baggage. You know, the furry option! ... Slimy? Rubbery? Do we have a word for anthro-cephalopods? I'm only a casual furry. Gelatinous cube - I'm not apologizing for giving this one a slot. Froghemoth - So, back when I participated in my very first long-term campaign, I played a druid. You've met Talia before. Naturally, I was chomping at the bit for the day I finally got to turn her into a froghemoth, and celebrated the day my wish was finally granted and she was allowed to chug human-supremacist-cultists like popcorn. Yeah, okay, the froghemoth is one of the classic vore-monsters. But it's a charming design in its own right. Kind of a freaky Hanna Barbara critter, like you'd see Space Ghost fighting. No matter how many artists draw it, they can never shake that inherent goofiness that third edition tried so hard to purge. I would probably cram them somewhere onto Fronterra if I was sure they were public domain. As is, I'm 99% certain that this is what Visser Three turned into when he ate Elfangor. Tarrasque - D&D's original kaiju! Kind of just takes the name and nothing else when it comes to its mythological origins, but I don't mind. The Tarrasque is that endgame "let's test the players" final boss monster... Or at least it's supposed to be. My DM reskinned it for our final Pathfinder session, and one of the PCs still nearly killed it in a single turn. Also, he let Talia turn into one, so maybe Pathfinder is just bullshit? Regardless, the Tarrasque has one of those simple, iconic designs. I've heard rumors it was based on the concept art for Fallout's deathclaws, and like the Gigan-figure, I can't verify this in any way. With its reptilian features, twin horns, spiny carapace and grabby fingies, it has an undeniable lizardlike quality that I can't help but find charming. Kinda feels like a more refined version of Zilla? Though for an insatiable eating machine, I notice a lot of artists give it very little belly to work with. Come on, this guy eats entire cities! Give him somewhere to put it! Rust monster - An icon of icons, the rust monster! Drawing its origin from a bizarre Chinese "dinosaur" toy, later designs have made it more insectoid in appearance, but never feeling QUITE like anything Earthly. It's the four limbs. Between the four limbs and the tail, it's hard to tell if it's an arthropod mimicking a vertebrate or the other way around. I'm pretty sure this is part of what inspired my ossaderm creatures for Fronterra. Also, Ryla can turn into one in our campaign. I have no shortage of havoc to wreak when the opportunity comes. Behir - Dragons in D&D are kind of... extra. Godlike beings, paragons of whatever personality trait they represent. Whenever there's something uber powerful in D&D, it gets compared to dragons. It makes them kind of unapproachable. Behirs provide all the essentials of a dragon - Serpentine body, scaly skin, horns, sapience, breath weapon, taste for human flesh - wrapped up in a smaller, weirder, IMO cooler package. You know, your Lambton Worms. A lot easier to port in and out of adventures, a lot less of an event when they show up, but still a formidable force in their own right. I like the behir. The behir knows how to taunt me just the right amount. Bulette - Another Chinese "dinosaur" figure monster, the bulette is actually another one I associate with Talia. Whenever we faced a problem that didn't have a glaringly and immediately obvious solution, she would turn into a bulette, whether it was for beating up robots, digging through obstacles, trampling smurfs, navigating labyrinths, distracting slashers with cute dog tricks... it was kind of her signature form. But shenanigans aside, the bulette is just an excellent monster. While the "land shark" shtick may be common, there's a lot more going on with the bulette's design. It's rumored to be a mad wizard's creation, as he combined a snapping turtle with an armadillo and mixed in a helping of demon blood to taste. Personally, I always considered that to be a neat little rumor to flesh out the world, but never assumed it to be true. The bulette just feels too naturalistic for that. Like some kind of protomammal or crocodylomorph, or weird triassic monstrosity. Magic and demons and dragons and so on DO affect the ecosystem. I always figured the bulette was just something that evolved to compete in this new biosphere. Owlbear - This one, on the other hand, I fully believe the "mad wizard was bored" explanation. Another chinasaur critter, the owlbear is frequently made fun of. What makes it scarier than a regular bear? It can't fly, so why have owl parts at all? Why trade fangs for a beak in what is at best a latural move? Well, first of all, fuck you, owls are creepy motherfuckers, and that alone is enough to justify it. But secondly, that's part of its charm. Besides some improved vision, the owl DOESN'T make it more dangerous. What makes the owlbear dangerous is that it's an insane, Frankensteinian monstrosity roaming uncontrolled through the wilderness! It doesn't need weaponry, its sheer temperament is enough to make it a worthy opponent. Sure, the practical threat might not be hugely above that of a bear, but storytelling isn't about numbers. Any asshole can go outside and get eaten by a bear. The owlbear is part of this world. The owlbear is a reminder of what magic can do. Someone somewhere actually made this thing, for whatever reason, and now the world is irrevocably changed because of it. Owlbears go beyond practicality. They bring the lore! Also, bears don't have very good eyesight, so the big owl eyes probably make them better hunters. Flumph - Is that a Japanese-style martian? Do we just have aliens in D&D? Dear lord, I love them! Okay, the flumph has got a sizable hatedom. And that hatedom can eat my ass, because the flumph is precious and perfect just the way it is! Flumphs are designed as a sort of sidekick-type creature. They're not very good fighters, but they bring knowledge and lore to the table. Whether they're aliens from some far off star, seeking your aid to prevent catastrophe, or psionic natives of the Underdark eager to bask in your positivity and hopefully stick it to the tyrants they're forced to share real estate with. My group generally treats them as straight up aliens, benevolent but strange. Course, we're all pretty strange, so we get along just fine. Otyugh - Okay so, the aberration creature type implies that this is something from another world that doesn't belong. And yet otyughs, which are aberrations, are an essential part of this world's ecosystem? Okay, I can buy the idea that an alien organism adapted to our world and is now a key part of it. Fronterra's got a TON of that. It just feels like after a point, the otyugh would be considered a beast? Otyughs are great. Every ecosystem needs a decomposer, and every fantasy story needs at least one dive into the sewers. Otyughs provide both, and are intelligent enough to keep the plot moving if it hits a snag. There's always going to be garbage, refuse, carrion, decay, things that need to be broken down and processed. Carrion crawler - The carrion crawler is pretty similar to the otyugh in that it's technically not considered a beast, and therefor must have its origins elsewhere, but feels so integrated into the ecosystem that it just feels like it belongs. They usually can't talk, so they're not just reskinned otyughs, but I still consider them pretty essential. Otyughs find a singular spot where waste is dumped and shovel it down at their leisure, while carrion crawlers skulk through the tunnels, actively seeking their food. The crawler got one of the most radical redesigns on the transition from second to third edition, but I can't really choose a single favorite. The oldschool tentacle-faced cutworm looks like it could be a real animal, while the googly-eyed Halloween decoration feels like it could be from another world, merely having set up shop here. Could there name apply to two wholly different creatures? If so, then I'm not sure which one mine would be considered. I kinda mashed them together into something that doesn't quite feel like either. But I like it for what it is. Maybe I'll sneak it onto Fronterra. Aboleth - Tentacled, telepathic sea creatures who turn humans into slimy minions, who remember everything their race has ever seen, and who are always plotting something behind the scenes. Yeah, the aboleths really crank up the Lovecraft elements. Actually, between the mind flayers, the flumphs and the aboleths, even the most oldschool D&D covered quite a few essential Lovecraftian bases. The flayers are your corrupt yet still recognizable humanoids who can be considered truly evil, the flumphs are benevolent-yet-bizarre guardians who know more than you, and the aboleths are the truly unknowable, sinister intellects. The fact that they can barely function on land honestly only adds to that, IMO. They're inherently difficult for a party to reach, and they offer some nice underwater adventure seeds. Not enough adventures go underwater. There's this perception that the ocean is bad for storytelling because so many writers lack the creativity to make it work. I wanna run an underwater adventure now. Beholder - Icon of icons! THE D&D monster! The beholder! Paranoid, jumpy, always five steps ahead and twenty steps perpendicular! Beholds are fun in just about every way. Between their wacky, diverse designs, their elaborate lairs, their eccentric personalities, their bizarre powers, you're never gonna run out of fun with beholders. Remorhaz - It's always been a thing that bothered me with environment-based monsters. Why does the ice monster who lives in the cold use ice as a weapon? Aren't most of the things it encounters going to be resistant to the cold? Sure, a cone of cold will still kill a polar bear, but a lot of the monsters in the tundra are outright immune to cold. A while dragon's not going to get much use out of its breath weapon fighting frost worms and frost giants. That's one reason the remorhaz sticks out to be. We have an icy tundra beast whose insides are a scorching furnace, which it can intensify and weaponize as it sees fit. Which also conveniently explains why its design - a sort of cobra-esque centipede - invokes warm-weather creatures, despite its icy environment. It's a nice subversion of the usual tropes, plus it's just a memorable, cool looking critter to begin with. On a smaller note, the remorhaz feels like a good loophole for Ryla's "no cold weather morphs" rule. Turning into something elementally affiliated with ice is no good, but a non-magical monster that survives the cold by superheating its insides? That seems perfectly viable to me!
