80s baby here, hi, I’m old now I guess.

Back in G1 Red Alert was in fact male coded and canonically had a “glitch” which I tend think of as the Cybertronian equivalent of Paranoid Schizophrenia.

Also a fact, the version of Red Alert that doesn’t have this glitch is the female coded Transformers Animated version.

Therefore, I purpose as a theory, it was never Paranoid Schizophrenia, but rather extreme anxiety caused by a severe and undiagnosed case of body dysphoria.

The TFA Red Alert seems totally mentally and physically healthy, because she’s living her true life and poor 80s version Red Alert is trapped in outdated social norms.

Just a theory mind you.

By the way, I prefer TFA Red Alert to the G1 version, because she’s beautiful and not annoying like he was. And I prefer Medics to Security Bots.
