Vertin's coma not just a way to delay the outcome of the Bill + Sonetto is not the only failsafe against Vertin. (Its also Mesmer Jr)

Fun rewatching old story chapters and finding new things. (Long title but idk to summarise again, also global friendly)

Book 3 I have already said that Vertin's coma was a political move by Constantine- hindering the actions of Madam Z and the members of the suitcase at that time, prevent them from gaining any autonomy outside of the Foundation right?

Watching the first part of Book 3, where we meet Vertin, Sonetto and Matilda and where Vertin gives Sonetto a frog before Schneider briefly appears again - we have a convo between Mesmer and Z about how the treatment was for Type II and a direct order by Constantine.

How much can AS control someone's dreams exactly? How much is Mesmer Jr aware of thr dream she submits Vertin to? It scarily looks like alot of control as there is a timeskip in the first dream and the later dream with the events of the Breakaway Incident. How is this treatment by subjecting Vertin to her worst memories and regrets? If Lilya had not broken Vertin out, would Mesmer Jr have to replay the Incident again? Or another trauma buried in her mind?

Notice how Madam Z mentions once Vertin went under she hadnt eaten anything, needing glucose injections - even Team TK take note of her weak state.

It almost feels like what Constantine did in causing the Breakaway Incident (not Vertin, Cosntantine created the flaws in the system an earlier day to have the kids escape on the eve of the Storm) - mental manipulation, as why made Vertin relive a moment where the moment she stepped out of line (attempting to flee the SPDM with others) she suffered so much? And think about it, why EXACTLY is Mesmer Jr here? Why assign two people involved in the Breakaway Incident together?

Sonetto is not the only failsafe against Vertin, its also Mesmer - why? You can write off anything as treatment for mental health, easy to label someone insane, crazy and delusional as a way to justify your actions. Why not get the person treating Vertin the member of the family that developed AS but as well equally guilty for the Breakaway Incident.

(Note - just like Sonetto, Mesmer is never intending to cause harm to Vertin, they are victims to the Foundations or more accurately Constantine's manipluation to control Vertin. And just like Sonetto, I think Mesmer finds little ways to help Vertin, such as getting the 15 umbrellas she requested)

Summary - Mesmer Jr is the second failsafe if Vertin ever attempted again to disobey the Foundation, her methods are more psychological as seen in Book 3. Constantine even the Foundation knows brute force cannot control Vertin, hauling her to the guardhouse does nothing; Sonetto by strength alone is not enough to stop Vertin's determination. What controls Vertin and ties her to the Foundation ultimately is not just logistics and practicality: it is the notion of what she has lost and everything she can and will lose again without the Foundation's aid. How can you remind her? Using the AS means literally putting her back all those years ago over and over.

(Edit: Vertin knows this: "I agree with your judgement, just for this time". At this point literally being held down Vertin must concede this round to Constantine and unlike Constantine trust in others to carry out the Bill = I think the Bill was the largest risk Vertin had made since the Breakaway Incident)

Making Vertin relive that moment was never a treatment of any sort (just look at the original limbo stages, more fantastical and not direct recreations of memories), it was all just to guilt trip Vertin even more and trap her in those traumatic memories.

Maybe thats why the final boss of Book 4 is not a Foundation member but the Lord of Dreams, have we ever questioned why this boss even exists? The whole intention of her coma was to weaken and trap her both mentally and physically enough to make her obedient.

Hopefully afterwards... you can even mate with each other like proper swan couples! Niran will wait as long as he needs to. Yet he admittedly gets excited at the thought.

You begin to lose yourself as Niran coos over you. He praises you... courts you... loves you. He holds and kisses you, treating you surprisingly well despite the blood on his hands. Soon, all due to your naive mistake, you finds yourself sinking into his dark nature.

On the note of c!Dream and the Revolution and L’manburg in particular, I actually wanted to touch on another argument that I see sometimes that I’ve been thinking about lately re. L’manburg’s legitimacy. Because among some groups that are more L’manburg-positive, one take that I feel is decently common is the idea that L’manburg couldn’t be a government because it was only four, five, six people, that the size of the group meant that it was functionally incapable of the power attributed to it. In this, the assertion tends to be that because L’manburg is small, the power it holds is meaningless; it doesn’t have the power and provisions backing it that a regular “government” has, so L’manburg is fundamentally no different from a group of friends that believe in the same thing and therefore work together. The argument, here, seems to be that because the power of L’manburg as a government is manufactured, the power doesn’t actually exist in any meaningful way. 

And the thing about L’manburg to me is that, well, the power being manufactured is...the point? Like. The whole point is that L’manburg doesn’t actually have jack shit to base itself off of, the whole point is that L’manburg is founded on a lie and writes itself into being treated as a legitimate entity through scapegoating other people in a story. That’s the reason why the mythos exists! The mythos needs to exist because it’s the foundation of L’manburg’s existence. Why does L’manburg exist? Because they were ~fighting against oppression~. Why does c!Wilbur have the power to do X, Y, and Z? Because if you’re opposing him you’re on the side of traitors and tyrants and enemies and get out of his fucking country. Just because L’manburg’s existing as a nation and government and what have you is illogical doesn’t prevent it from being treated as a legitimate country and government etc, because in the end people treated it as legitimate and therefore it had real power not only over its own land, but later on over how the entire server operated--see everyone being swept up in the elections, Manberg vs. Pogtopia, etc. 

(What’s especially funny to me about this take is that in a lot of ways, it really reminds me of c!Dream’s opinion of L’manburg during the Revolution. Because while c!Dream definitely saw L’manburg as a threat in terms of the people who were declaring war against him, in terms of the...actual ideology? The whole government thing, “we’re going to be a separate server”? It’s pretty clear that c!Dream thinks that all of that makes NO SENSE WHATSOEVER. He calls L’manburg a “delusional small part” of the server because from his perspective, what the fuck do you MEAN you’re a government now? What do you mean you’re a separate country--scratch that, what do you mean you’re a separate SERVER? Game rules? Whitelist? What the fuck?? You’re a group of people threatening violence because you have a grudge against me, not revolutionaries fighting a nonexistent oppressive rulership like holy shit I’ve NEVER EVEN MET YOU BEFORE? c!Dream approaches L’manburg’s shit as illegitimate and ridiculous and nonsensical from the get go, because yeah, I mean--they’re literally just a small group of people, not the government they claim to be or that they claim they want to form, or whatever. But things...don’t stay that way.) 

Like the whole point is that in the end, it doesn’t matter that c!Wilbur shouldn’t have been able to stick a flag in a piece of land, declare it as his own, make all these arbitrary rules about who could or couldn’t go inside and what they had to do and declare himself leader over these people and leverage joining his little club to keep them from opposing him and use all of that to threaten conflict against a guy he literally never even met before. Because...he did! And with the mythos established, no one challenged that. L’manburg’s policies and power and legitimacy and leadership and what the leader could and couldn’t do were all based in literally nothing and that didn’t matter because people acted like it was a real thing, so it became real. c!Dream fighting against L’manburg and discrediting its legitimacy at the beginning is part of what gives L’manburg legitimacy because the revolution ends up being used as the foundational story that made L’manburg a Real Thing. The elections and c!Quackity challenging c!Wilbur by running against him when the elections were originally rigged ends up reinforcing L’manburg���s legitimacy as the elections become a Real Thing and the leader of L’manburg as established by the elections are a Real Thing, etc. As long as people buy into L’manburg, as long as it’s TREATED as a real entity, then it remains real because that’s what people believe (which is part of why doomsday and L’manburg like, dying required the people within it to become disillusioned w/ the country so they didn’t feel inclined to rebuild it again.) 

People treated L’manburg as a real entity with real power, which gave it real power over people. Nothing should’ve been in place that allowed c!Wilbur to declare a rigged election, or c!Schlatt to execute the Red Festival, or c!Tubbo to create an extrajudicial army that put c!Phil under house arrest and would extend its influence outside of its own land to kidnap c!Techno’s pet and execute him. The reality of the consequences of L’manburg do not depend on whether or not it should’ve logistically had the power to back up what it was trying to do but whether or not people actually treated it like it did, and they did. Just because L’manburg shouldn’t have been capable of acting like a government doesn’t mean that people didn’t treat it as a government the entire time--from its conception to its death, L’manburg was given a lot of power and influence comparable to that of a government because of what was granted to it that allowed the leader of the faction to do a lot of things without challenge or argument “for the country” both to people within the country’s borders and outside of it, and this very real power and influence wasn’t challenged or disturbed because people believed that it had a right to exist. 

YES L’manburg was manufactured! YES that power didn’t make any sense! YES the legitimacy that L’manburg had as a government entity was basically a fucking crapshoot based on jack shit, and yes it had real power anyway. At the end of the day L’manburg was always treated w/ a level of power and legitimacy beyond just being a Group Of People, and therefore that power and legitimacy became real. L’manburg was a government because people treated it as one. L’manburg was powerful and legitimate and free and independent because that’s what the story said, and everyone believed the story, and that’s what’s important moreso than the logic of whether or not it had enough people to actually “be” a government in the first place.

If what Lady C says is true (I am saying 'if' as this is all allegedly, gossip and rumour etc), then I am very glad that Meghan was told No. The hide of her, a failed z-list celebrity, asking to be treated like an A-lister. She may be delusional in terms of her importance but it is good to know that others see her for what she is worth. Apparently she has a history of asking for freebies from everyone, so it is nice to know that this time she failed.

Death, birthdays, expectations, and still needing to pee.

Massive brain dump.

Writing is part of my process, and I am processing below the cut.

Mom passed this morning. Her nurse was sitting with her, then got up to check on another patient, and Mom left. It hurts more than I expected it would, it's more of a relief than I expected it could be. Her slide into dementia was horrifying not only for those who knew her, but FOR her. She knew at times that this was happening to her, and it was the ultimate body horror, where your brain turns on you. She was delusional at times, but they were rational delusions if that makes sense. They were plausible and that made them all the worse, I think.

Her stroke came, and comfort measures were implemented. It was her preference, stated clearly before and after the onset of dementia. Adult kids, never underestimate the impulse to Do Something despite those wishes. I fought it off again and again. Yes, she could have been taken to the hospital, had the MRI, been treated, maybe have a few more months in a body that was hemiplegic, bedbound, in need of contstant intervention. That would not have been love - and I did love her. I freely admit there was a time I did not.

Mom was a traumatized person, raised by traumatized people. Her love for me became conditional, and she was not a nurturing person. There were times when her frustration with me acting out my own trauma became physical at times. But as an adult her friends all said she was so proud of me. Our relationship was not healthy, and as an adult I've tried to move away from the conflict and pain. I see the frail, hurt, maladapted but brilliant, motivated, and passionate person she was. If she had been born a Millennial or Gen Z, the world would have a lot on its hands with her. I am a believer in reincarnation, if someone has a baby girl who tries to march out of her bassinet and take on the world, please hold and love and nurture her - she had a hard time.

Dear Universe, when you balance the scales, please take into account my forgiveness and the final forgiveness she gave me last year. Know that we reached peace with one another.

She passed when my BFAM and I were on the phone, talking about her memorial arrangements. It was almost as if she knew and said, "Okay. I am loved and cherished, they're Talking about me and the things I loved and valued. It's okay for me to go."

My birthday is this week, and it's one I did not expect to have, considering the cancer that I had and my odds of remission. I did not even mark it last year. I was too sick from chemo and radiation. I did not formally enter remission until the end of December, six weeks after the major surgery. My cancer could come back, they test me every month and I will have a CT scan and colonoscopy this month to make sure it's gone. If it's come back, I don't know what I'll do. I'll cross that one as and if I come to it.

I could not feel less like celebrating considering the concatenation of circumstances, but I am marking it.

Mom did not die on my birthday, and I am thankful for that.

I'm alive. Not great, but alive. Living with the sword of Damocles over my head, but alive. Happy birthday to me.

You know, I’ve noticed something interesting about those who love to give redemption arcs or make Draco and Regulus look superior compared to the female leads, they all seem to give redemption arcs to white fictional character. Now if Draco and Regulus were poc’s do you think they would as many people writing redemption arcs for them? Nope.

Then these same people turn the character gay to make them more inclusive… and then bash their female canon partners.

As someone who’s gen z and worked with different generations, I have to say my generation is the most racist, misogynistic, narcissistic, delusional, unprofessional, and the stupidest generation of all time. Their skull are so thick and you can’t get anything through to them unless you agree with them. High school and university was a nightmare with these condescending idiots.

The great thing about a fandom as vast as Harry Potter is that you can always find people who share your interpretations and create content that resonates with what you want to see. Focus on those spaces. Curate your fandom experience by engaging with content and people who make this journey enjoyable for you.

Redemption arcs are a compelling trope, popular for a reason, but they require effort to be done well. Exploring how characters like Draco and Regulus seek redemption isn’t a bad idea. My issue lies with the tendency to overlook the fact that these characters willingly and enthusiastically chose to be bigots in the first place, which is why they need redemption. I’m more interested in stories that acknowledge the horrible actions they took rather than those that paint them as innocent victims who were simply misled by abusive families.

That said, my taste in fanfiction isn’t everyone’s taste. If I come across something I’m not into, I just scroll past it. I prefer to focus on content that interests me or supports my friends because I find tremendous joy in uplifting their work.

Would fandom’s relationship with Draco and Regulus change if they were characters of color rather than what we typically imagine as attractive, wealthy white boys? I don’t doubt it.

Exploring characters' sexuality, gender, and ethnic backgrounds is part of the fun of fandom. If a creator wants to see themselves represented in the story and do so by reimagining characters and storylines, that’s fantastic! Can unconscious biases seep in and lead to the erasure of women or other groups? Yes, it can happen. But it doesn’t happen all the time. We must encourage each other to be aware of our biases and improve upon the world-building and character development of the series and not fall into the same racist/sexist traps that the author, who shall not be named, did. It takes a lot of effort and self-awareness to do so, but that's why being a part of a supportive community in fandom is great. We can benefit from listening to each other and helping each other on our journey to be more sensitive and inclusive writes.

Finally, here’s a little secret about Gen Z—you aren’t that special.

You’re not more racist than the generations who enacted Jim Crow laws, supported an Islamophobic-driven war on terror, or cut welfare benefits out of fear that Black women were gaming the system.

What you’re experiencing is the reality that people, regardless of age or political alignment, can be selfish, rude, and self-serving. But here’s the good news: people of all ages are also capable of being smart, selfless, caring, supportive, and wonderful. Hold on to those people and focus your energy on those who bring you joy.

If you want to see a more positive community with less selfless people, then be part of the change. Treat others with kindness and patience. Don't disparage an entire generation of being stupid and thick-skulled because that just isn't true because right now, with this message that you chose to send me, you sound like someone who could use a lesson in treating others with respect.

They keep ranting about Jancys first time being wrong and problematic yet---Steve and Nancy weren't together/dating and had 'only made out a few times' as Nancy said to barb and Nancy rushed into sleeping with him even though they weren't a couple/were not together. But her rushing into sleeping with Steve isn't problematic to them, but sleeping with Jonathan who shes known and liked for years is problematic. Nancy wasn't Steves girlfriend. she was his latest pocket to stick it in-but that's totally wholesome to them, but nancy and jonathan stop denying their feelings after like 10 years or whatever-that's ''wrong and they weren't thinking clearly and let murray force them into it apparently because of the drinking'' ext ext. they didn't have any feelings for each other before then or anything right?

It's just insane. It's just absolutely insane how they turn **every single character** into a villain in order to paint Steve as a victim. Even Murray whos never really talked to Steve interacted with him or set out to wrong him. He just told Nancy to be true to herself and what she wanted. EUGHHH time to talk about Power Rangers!!

So I've been watching Power Rangers SPD and I wanna talk about Sky because I love him very much and he also has issues LOL. My memory is shit so I might be making half of this up but HERE WE GO!!

Sky Tate has so many issues from his dad, not in the way that his dad was a terrible person or father but because Sky set himself an impossible goal and really high self-expectations because of who his father was. Of course, that wasn't his dad's fault but yk here we are! Imagine being a child and expecting to be this great ranger, as great as your late father, and then you grow up and suddenly that whole idea is crushed! Ripped away from the palm of your hands!

Sky worked so hard to be the Red Ranger, but it caused arrogance on his part, and just because he had the dedication to SPD and his father was the Red Ranger didn't mean he automatically had rights to the title or position of Red Ranger. Of course, it was sad to see his dream stomped on, failing to live up to the expectation he set for himself and the expectation he might've felt his family held for him because, after all, he was his father's son. Or maybe feeling like he failed to prove himself, because his family were against the idea of him being like his father, due to his father's death in the line of duty. Either way, it is sad, even if he wasn't ready to be the Red Ranger because of his immaturity, arrogance and behaviour! Of course, it was gonna cause issues between him and Jack, Sky is a control freak, maybe because he couldn't control what happened to his father? For all of that to happen, the loss of control and the failure to himself, he was never gonna get along with Jack OR Z at the drop of a hat, because they swooped in with zero training, with powers that he believed were unique to him, Bridge, and Syd, and took over where Sky believed he should rightfully stand.

It isn't an excuse for the way he treated Jack or butted heads with him but it is a reason, and of course, Power Rangers is just a kids show so they wouldn't talk about it, but I talk about it! It shouldn't have been brushed over, and if it was a real-life situation it definitely wouldn't have been. Sky has trauma from his father's passing, and probably has something funky going on with his self-worth, he really did work hard for Red Ranger, and he didn't get it, he's allowed to be disappointed. However, the moral of the story, he REALLY needs to see a therapist (like everyone else on B Squad)! It also might've done him good to talk to the others about it a bit more rather than basically just being seen as an asshole, iirc they might've understood somewhat in the show (?) but I can definitely see them and a lot of other people just brushing Sky off as that arrogant, bratty, child of a Red Ranger with a stick up his ass rather than someone who is a good person underneath all of that and just needs some help.

In the long run though, Sky not becoming the Red Ranger straight away WAS good for him. It taught him how to be a better person, to grow up from that child he still sorta was with stars in his eyes whenever he saw his father on TV saving people (and I can imagine the day his father died, his mother had to turn the news off). And in the end, he did get there, he reached his goal after a lot of good, solid character development and I really really enjoy his character arc! For a Power Rangers series, the SPD B Squad characters, and the other characters around them, have complicated stories and development and I love that so much!!

I'm also a little delusional at the end of the day :D

Y’all mad this being brought up because y’all like to live in a delusional bubble where we can’t be honest about how SOCIETY has affected people’s lives while they was here. This didn’t have to be apart of her life, her legacy, but YA’LL MADE IT SO. Sit with that discomfort!

I wholeheartedly believe the way she was treated by the Black community is ONE of the reasons why she left america. Even though the movie was great. Everyday her story/trauma was mocked because of that biopic. Black folx for some reason has to laugh at each other's pain. But if it was traumatic porn of something like what happened to tyre Nichols, Jordan Neely or George Floyd (his murder happened three years ago and tomorrow is the anniversary of his murder) or something like that and white racists make fun of that those same people who made light of a black woman abuse and trauma at the hands of a black man would be outraged.
