You had listened to Sky's declarations that he would be a great Red Ranger and endured many, many, speeches in which he ranted about his day with his new team leader and you had nodded along, knowing he needed a place to vent his frustrations to avoid taking it out on the other Rangers.

While Sky had warmed up to Jack in the few months they had been working together, the two still had their disagreements and you would let him pace a hole in the floor as he told you about it.

One day, however, you couldn't endure it because you were dealing with problems of your own and wishing he paid enough attention to see that you needed someone to talk to. But every time you tried he would keep talking and your frustration finally boiled over.

"He is the Red Ranger! Accept that you didn't make the cut because of how arrogant and oblivious you are to other people's feelings!"

Sky was surprised by your outburst but quickly recovered, the silver on his tongue cut deeper that day, and you left the room he shared with Bridge, hiding your tears.

The Blue Ranger was smart enough to know that approaching you would only lead to another argument and waited for you to cool down, but as time ticked away and he hadn't heard or seen you in three days, Sky began to worry that maybe he had missed something.

His solemn mood began to affect his ability in the field and Jack knew that he had to step in before someone got injured. He knew you were actively avoiding Sky after Syd told him about the fight and decided to catch you off guard.

You walked out of the training simulator and Jack stepped off the wall, causing you to spin on your heels, raising an eyebrow at the Red Ranger. Your expression shifted when you saw the look in his eyes.

"What is it? What happened?"

"It's Sky." He sighed. Jack had an hour to think of a lie that sounded remotely believable and when you asked where your boyfriend was, he knew you did.

When Jack told you where to find Sky, you immediately set off to find your boyfriend and expected to find him resting due to injury but instead found him doing push-ups on the ground. Sky got to his feet when the door opened, surprised to see you standing in the doorway.

"Is this some kind of joke? Because it isn't funny."

"What?" His brow furrowed when he saw the tears in your eyes.

"You -" You turned away and Sky quickly placed himself in front of the door and you glared at the Blue Ranger who held his hands up.

"You need to fill in the blanks for me." He said, lowering his hands. "You burst in here after dodging me for three days and I can't tell if you are going to kick my ass or smother me with hugs."

You stepped back and a sigh left his lips as he watched you walk to sit on the edge of his bed. "Jack told me you were wounded in the field. Confined to a bed."

You looked at your boyfriend when he didn't speak and when you raised an eyebrow he blinked out of his thoughts. "I didn't know you cared."

"Of course, I care." You crossed your arms, lowering them with a sigh when you knew how defensive it appeared. "I didn't mean to bite your head off. It's just..." You looked at your hands and Sky frowned as he moved to sit beside you. "I'm sick and tired of being a cadet. You're out there where the action is and hearing you complain, just made me explode. It had less to do with you, and more about how I felt."

Sky nodded slowly, "So...you don't think I'm arrogant?"

You turned your head to meet his gaze, feeling your lips twitch upwards when you saw the slight smile on his lips. "No, you are. But you are a great S.P.D Ranger. And I know how important it is for you to become the Red Ranger. I'm sorry for sounding callous before."

Sky shook his head as he reached out to hold your hand on your lap, squeezing gently. "I'm sorry for always talking about my problems. I want you to know that I will listen more."

You smiled softly, "Can I pace the floor, complaining about Jack like you do?"

He chuckled, nodding, "Sure."

You rested a hand on his cheek, closing your eyes as your lips met. Sky lifted a hand to the nape of your neck, drawing you closer before pulling away to meet your gaze.

"I thought you wanted to complain about Jack?"

You shrugged, "I can do it later. I missed you."

"I missed you too." He smiled as he reignited your kiss and you leaned into his chest as he deepened it.

He understood relationships required a certain amount of give and take and would talk less and listen more. You felt as if your training was slipping? He would train with you. He felt like he needed to decompress after a stressful day? You would help take his mind off of it. While he never said it aloud, Sky was grateful that Jack stepped in and lied to get you in a room together to work it out.

He hated arguing with you, but he loved making up afterwards.

I did some research and they’re super hard to find, so I’m compiling and posting all those that i found over the next few days. I'm still on vacation from college, so I have a little free time left, and with that free time I kind of wrote an argumentative dissertation explaining why the #SkyZ ship in power rangers spd would work if it were well written and developed as a romantic purpose, so here we go:

1-Sky and Z were the only rangers who had their childhood version and their childhood traumas exposed in a naked, raw and cold way, that alone should be reason enough for both of them to be considered soulmates and, I really believe that they could heal their traumas and wounds together, in perfect harmony and balance.

2-They are like Yin and Yang, and based on the Chinese philosophy from which this principle originates, the concept of Yin and Yang is that Yin and Yang are opposing forces of nature that fit together as one, like pieces of a puzzle, and form a balance between them.

Yin represents darkness, the passive, cold and nocturnal principle, while Yang represents light, the active and warm. Both have opposite personalities from each other, Sky is serious, tough, tough, colder and with emotional walls made of ice, while young Z is happy, docile, altruistic and kind and with a brave heart that catches fire; I think Yin and Yiang fit SkyZ's personality, they are both opposites but complement each other in some way. No one can be happy and good all the time and no one can be bad and bad all the time, I think they would awaken this in each other, but in a balanced, rational and egalitarian way, both would awaken both the good and the bad in the other, the important thing is to learn to live with this balance.

3-I think the trope "opposites that attract, but are not that opposite" is beautiful. What do I mean? Well, they are opposites that realize that they have a lot in common (like traumas, fears, sadness and similar things) but real compatibility is only discovered through coexistence between these two (something that occurs in the series, given that in the penultimate episode of the season, SkyZ is closer and acting as confidants) and they both end up realize that they are not as different as they think.

4-Grumpy x Sunshine, hello? A classic of world literature! but what is this? is a literary cliché that refers to a couple with opposite personalities: one is grumpy and the other is good-natured (hello?, remember someone?) but they bring out the best in each other.

5-they are like fire (Sky) and water (Z). Fire represents stronger, more heated emotions, something that Sky has within her, but what do we need to put out that fire? WATER.

We can say the same about fire, what does it take to give emotion, to give adrenaline to fresh water, water so still and serene? FIRE, fire to live? reaction fire? interpret it however you want, but

What is that? look deeper, seriously! These two have my heart.

6-The psychology of the characters is deeper and more interesting than it seems, and is great to serve as an object of study. (canonically they have almost no interaction, but if they were written to be friends from the beginning they would deliver a lot of coherence, cohesion and aesthetic bonus) Studying their psychology, I realized that they both complement each other in some way, whether in terms of trauma, in terms of opposing personalities and others.

7-Studying the psychology of the characters' colors, I discovered the meaning of yellow and blue, and I believe that the personalities of the two are complementary following this psychology.

see, blue can represent harmony, tranquility, serenity and security, BUT BUT, I discovered that DARK BLUE (sea blue) is associated with the concepts of truth, stability and seriousness. Due to its cold nature, it can also evoke feelings such as callousness, frigidity, and isolation (hello? that's VERY SKY TATE).

and yellow evokes very beautiful feelings, it is a warm color that can represent joy, optimism, energy, warmth, confidence, dynamism and light, even though she has gone through tragedies in her life, Z never stopped being a sociable and kind soul who always thinks about others, on the contrary, this only strengthened her altruistic personality (as we saw in Sam's episode) and she always thinks about helping those in need.

Even the psychology of colors explains their duality and how they are opposite, but not so opposite and how they complement each other in some way (hello? yin and yiang? ☯️)

8.In their few scenes of interaction it is evident that they both have chemistry, tension, and show how their friendship COULD evolve into a romance, because, I don't know if you know, but for a romance to work it is necessary for the couple to be friends with each other.

9.both always appear in each other's background scenes, whether Sky appears in Z's background scenes or Z appears in Sky's background scenes.

10.they make sense both philosophically and psychologically.

11.Their brief friendship ended up being something beautiful and sweet to watch.

repeating, for something to evolve into a romance, the characters must be friends with each other, whether talking, trusting each other, supporting, supporting and things like that, and given Sky's evolution from being a misogynistic, selfish idiot with protagonist syndrome, to a kind, fair person who knows how to work as a team, I believe that this only brought them closer together after the series.

Power rangers writing prompts

I decided to do a post to ideas and prompts I have or recieved of Power Rangers, so people might decide to write them. Feel free to use them. It would be nice to get credit or message if you do use them but it's not necessary. If you have other ideas write me in the comments or in a message and I might add them to this list. If you do write a fic for one of this prompts and you'll send it to me I'll add a link to it in the post. The ideas are plot based and not shipping based and that the point of all the prompts.

Some of the ideas are solid and some are very general.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers:

Tommy Oliver struggling in school (can also be written as ADHD or learning disability character)

Autisic Billy Cranston

Civilians figuring out the rangers identities because they always stay to fight against the putties even without morphing.

2X08, the tape recorded the rangers morph and their identities revealed (by the news company or because Bulk and Skull screen it to everyone before the rangers were able to stop them)

2X09: Rocky, Adam and Aisha are coming to Angel Grove to the Broomball Tournament.

Sylvia, Kelly, Jeremy, Curtis finding out their cousins are power rangers.

There are many episodes with a child who hang out with the rangers so write fanfics from their point of view about the rangers, maybe what would have happened if they figured out their identities or what happened to them in the future because they appeared only once (Maria, Willy, Sylvia, Kelly, Jeremy, Cameron, Roger, Hallie)

Power Rangers Lost Galaxy:

Please for the love of god someone force him into a psych eval HE NEEDS HELP. Plus he’d probably be less of a sexist prick if he wasn’t so focused on living up to his father’s legacy and coming up with reasons why he should be red so it’s a net good for society.”

Okay I was going through RangerWiki pages and found an explanation for Sky’s civilian powers and—

I’m sorry what was that? “To cut off an opponent’s oxygen supply?” Did Sky fucking suffocate someone and I missed it or is this just completely made up?

I can’t even claim that this is a logical extension of his powers because we never see him even fully encase something in his force fields so like?? Where did this come from???

Edit: Okay RangerWiki might have made this up because as best I can tell there’s zero canon support behind it.

That being said it’s such a fun concept for fics and stuff. I think Sky should get to kill a man. As a treat.

CK x Power Rangers SPD

Robby Keene/Miguel Diaz From Cobra Kai and Jack Landors/Sky Tate from Power Rangers SPD

Rewatching Power Rangers SPD and I see Robby and Miguel's relationship in Season 6 Part 2 is similar to Jack's and Sky's Relationship in Power Rangers SPD. An example I can bring up in SPD the Red Ranger is designated as the Leader of the Team (Robby and Jack) and Sky and Miguel feel as though they're not taking their role as Leader seriously (Robby constantly losing focus and losing fights because of Tory, and Jack just no taking the leadership role seriously early on in the series). Similar to Sky, Miguel feels he should've been leader and Robby is wasting the opportunity he is given. Though Miguel is not as entitled as Sky, Miguel grew frustrated with Robby because Robby was constantly struggling.
