Two very different approaches
Michael Crawford: I will not play Krolock like the Phantom. I cannot. Under any circumstances.
Yuichiro Yamaguchi: Oh, Krolock is similar to the Phantom. I can do that.

It'll be performed by the double cast, as usual. The role of Graf von Krolock will be played by Yu Shirota (who previously played der Tod in a few productions) and Yuichiro Yamaguchi - the original Japanese Krolock.
The production will run from May to July, 2025. It'll be performed in several cities: Tokyo, Aichi, Osaka and Fukuoka.

Who are some Christines who have really strong acting skills but not great singing skills and vice versa? Same with Phantoms
You are asking me to basically make four different lists, so I hope you don't mind if I just bullet point some names.
Phantoms with better acting than singing skills:
Steve Barton (his singing is great as Raoul but the Phantom is just a little too high for him)
Kevin Gray
Brad Little (in his last run)
Earl Carpenter
Gerard Butler
Ramin Karimloo
Mathias Edenborn
Phantoms with better singing than acting skills:
Yuichiro Yamaguchi
Anthony Warlow (sorry I do not like his acting)
Matthew Cammelle
Christines with better acting than singing skills:
Julie Hanson
Gina Beck
Anna O'Byrne
Samantha Hill
Ali Ewoldt
Christines with better singing than acting skills:
Dale Kristien
Claire Louise Hammacott
Elena Bahtiyarova
Maria Ivleva
I could probably put more but I was trying to think of actors with a very high contrast - like great voices but bad acting or great acting and pretty bad voices, etc.

Judas Iscariot, “Heaven On Their minds”-”Judas’ Death” Costume (沢木順/Jun Sawaki) Gekidan Shiki at the Dominion Theatre, London “Japonica Style/ジャポネスク・バージョン ” ver. Jesus Christ Superstar 1991 (1/5)
Jesus: 山口祐一郎/Yuichiro Yamaguchi
Costume Notes: So I only have one blurry photo from the 1987′s Japonica ver. so I opted to skip that year and go straight to the second time the Japonica ver. was performed which was in London at the Dominion Theatre. Seeing as the reason it went to London was due to the popularity and interest, and the closeness between the first and second production I would assume the costumes are near identical perhaps even recycled from the 87 run. The reason I added a photo of Jesus is to show a better view on the black markings applied to the trouser, though Jesus’ costume markings differs form Judas the method in application should be the same.

Elisabeth Das Musical - 2012 Japanese production
Was looking through old productions of Elisabeth and remembered this. Definitely Toho’s best cast lineup to date. Mate Kamaras and Ishimaru Kanji (Why does no one ever talk about him? :( ) are absolute powerhouses as Der Tod, actingwise and vocally. Haruno Sumire and Sena Jun are also very strong Elisabeths (The way Sumire says “Hitori demo” always gets me for some reason). I don’t really like how they translated the lyrics from the German, but that’s for another day..
A shame I cant find any video with this particular production. I should try to hunt down more audios...

Note
This will sound like a weird question, but do you know why there are so many video bootlegs of the Tokyo production in the early 90s, that are surprisingly good quality for the time? There are also a few proshots as well, so I was wondering if the reason was just that the Japanese production was more open to filming the productions and leave traces of them. Same goes with Takarazuka productions and all their proshots of their shows.
I think that there's too little information for us to draw any conclusion about the reasons for the videos' existence.
More specifically: the Japanese trading scene is pretty underground, like way more so than the Broadway and London trading scene, and that's also ignoring the matter of the language barrier. So unlike with London or Broadway, where I can fairly confidently say things like, "Yeah, there was a real lack of London Phantom filmers", I can't say that with the Japanese traders.
And what this means is that I don't know how many videos of Phantom exist, in total, from the 1980s to now, and if I don't know the total, I can't assume that there's a lot of videos from the 90s and a drop in videos after that. It could be that, or it could be that the person who gave many of those videos to me is a big Yuichiro Yamaguchi fan and since Yamaguchi was mainly in Phantom in the 90s, he exclusively picked 90s videos while ignoring anything else filmed later. That could easily skew your data right there. Or heck - maybe there were filmers who were just big fans of Yamaguchi. So that brings the possibility that the production may not have changed their policies or been more open about filming at all; instead, it means that there was just one filmer who loved Yamaguchi so much they were willing to risk getting in trouble to film him, and then stopped once he left the show.
As for the proshots, I think Takarazuka has always been quite good about filming their shows and releasing them, I haven't seen much change there. But for other productions, in my experience, the release of proshots has less to do with productions loosening up and more to do with there just being a certain cast or crew member who has access to the proshot and is willing to release it. Like, as an example, I don't think it's a coincidence that a lovely proshot video of the Mexican production of Les Miserables and a lovely proshot of the Mexican production of Phantom got released (for very limited trades) within months of each other; I think someone worked in both and thought that enough time had passed that they could shoot these videos into the Interwebz without getting in trouble. Same with the monitor video of the original Stockholm production in Sweden. And have you noticed that there's a ton of Rebecca Caine soundboard audios? It's almost like there's a "common factor" in those audios and that "common factor" suddenly decided to give some stuff away! Or have you seen that there's a ton of proshots and soundboards of Kiara Sasso in multiple shows she's been in? Gee whiz, I sure do wonder what the common factor is for that...
Anyway tl;dr: it could be that the Japanese production had looser policies back then, but without more information, I can't comfortably draw that conclusion, there's too many other possible factors.
