Comments from Boueibu VAs regarding 10 year anniversary/movie
Can't remember who exactly was asking for a translation of these, but if no one else has tackled them yet (as of posting this)...see under the cut.
Kazutomi Yamamoto (Yumoto's VA):
Everyone! Have you been well?
Already, 10 years have passed since we first yelled, "We are the heirs to the throne of love!" The days we spent with Yumoto, with the Defence Club! The days we conveyed love with the anime, the days we made merry with Nico livestreams, the days we shared the love with events!
Binan Koukou Chikyuu Boueibu...whatever it might be, it's nostalgic.
At this turning point called the 10 year anniversary, a decision has been made to make a movie! There'll be stuff like the Ikaho collab, stuff where I play Yumoto, but speaking of the new movie, I look forward to being able to meet everyone as Yumoto again! Again and again!
Yuichiro Umehara (En's VA):
I am amazed it has been 10 years.
I played this role in the early years of my [voice acting] debut, so I'm very happy to play him again. Chikyuu Boueibu is an unpredictable work, so at the present time, I don't know what kind of story will be depicted. However, I am looking forward to it.
I think it'll be a story where we'll certainly laugh and be emotionally moved, but because it is an unpredictable story, at the present time, I don't know what kind of story will be depicted.
I look forward to Love Making for the first time in a long time, but because it is an unpredictable story, at the present time, I don't know what kind of story will be depicted.
But it'll be a work you'll be able to enjoy - make no mistake.
Thank you in advance.
Kotaro Nishiyama (Atsushi's VA):
Congratulations on the 10 year anniversary!
Being able to celebrate the 10th anniversary like this makes me happy from the bottom of my heart. Then a decision was made to make a new movie. I'm really happy to be able to meet them [the LOVE! Defence Club] in animation again! Please look forward to their powered-up activities and unchanging vibe.
Well, let's go have chicken curry with added spinach! [1]
Yusuke Shirai (Io's VA):
Congratulations on Boueibu's 10th anniversary and Binan Koukou Chikyuu Boueibu ETERNAL LOVE! \(^o^)/ Boueibu is a work which I have a lot of emotional attachment to and it was a huge launchpad for me. I'm happy to play Io-kun again because this is the first time in a long time I've been able to do so. ( ´∀`) I want to meet them [the LOVE! Defence Club] again soon!!!
Toshiki Masuda (Ryuu's VA):
Congratulations on the 10 year anniversary and movie!
It's already been 10 years, huh? It's a work where we had this, that and a lot of experiences. If [Boueibu LOVE!] were to be made into a movie, I can't imagine what form it would take. I have high hopes for the fact our paths have successfully crossed again - Ryuu Zaou, who might have been changing in the work, and myself, who was changed by his influence in those days. I wish for this work to be one a lot of people can love, both for those who were cheering them [the LOVE! Defence Club] on in those days and those who've known them for the first time just now.
Mugihito (Wombat's VA):
Well well, after 6 years(?), Binan Koukou Chikyuu Boueibu has been revived.
Really, whatever will become of the existence of the mysterious outer space lifeform, Wombat...?
Battle Lovers, let's do our best-maccho!! [2]
[T/N 1: For the unaware, epinard = spinach in French.]
[T/N 2: Ganbattemaccho instead of the more standard ganbarimashou.]

umatani shows formula;
-all boys cast. if there's a girl she's the only one and also pink, in typical boy's show fashion. -guys transform into a thing -x of the week paired with some kind of batshit plot that gets revealed later on -catchphrases that are repeated. often. -colourful character designs that are bordering on tacky- oh who i am i kidding. they are tacky. tacky as hell. -MASCOT CHARACTERS. always some kind of animal. -antagonist who is homosexually obsessed with one of the main characters. usually has 2 goons. -lots of gay shit (yes. besides the antagonist) -despite the gay shit there's always one guy who's obsessed with women. usually gets no bitches though. -giant age gaps. for some reason..? -Sugita Tomokazu and Yamamoto Kazutomi are there. most of the time.
#umatani#boueibu#robihachi#fairy ranmaru#gekkan mousou kagaku#delusional monthly magazine#mousou is the only exception to the gay antagonist.#sugita isnt in f-ran and yamamoto isnt in robi but otherwise. theyre there.#but honestly. gras seems like he was made to be voiced by yamamoto but they got another high voiced guy instead.#and sugita couldve voiced houjou... perhaps#and in rbhc they dont do it often BUT. they do in fact. transform. into a thing.#kept it vague like that on purpose lmao.#tedpost#tedtalks

That's all very interesting. I very much only use either website to see if certain VA is in a certain anime or not, so I didn't even know you could put the roles in different orders lol
Every time I rewatch some episode of Boueibu HK I wonder again how the staff even planned this season. Like. Almost nothing meaningful happens with the characters
TLDR the characters with the most developement in HK are the monsters
Kyoutarou is there as a complete contrast to Yumoto while keeping the battle speeches so his characterization doesn't make much sense. Nanao is mere fujoshi bait. Taiju and Taishi have random bits of dialogue that hint at possible arcs for s2 but not enough to tell us what it really is. Maasa has an unfinished arc in his episode, where supposedly he's putting fatty butter in his cookies to make everyone else overweight because he resents Ichiro not defending him when they were little, but then his friends tell him it's fine and then he can move on??? This would work with Ichiro's theme of not wanting to be immature or dense anymore, except they only ever used this theme as a gag (misunderstanding the meaning of whatever the others have said) or to straight up humilliate him (ep4) and continue treating him like a stupid baby. At the end of the season Maasa and him have made peace somehow and that's it. Ata gets in my opinion the closest thing to a complete arc, even if it's just staring angrily at Kyoutarou for ten episodes, then explaining his problem while fighting him and finally getting his apology and reconcilliation. At least it's something. And poor Ryouma is just there to be the butt of a few jokes about how he lets Nanao and Kyoutarou use him, be in a couple of cute shippy scenes, and also for Ata to completely dismiss him from the flashbacks to the point where if they had first met in high school nothing would've changed.
The relationships barely have developement either. Love had anime episodes and manga chapters dedicated to the different close friendships solving their conflicts and becoming closer. There were also many instances of seeing how close the Hakone brothers-defense club and Beppu brothers' relationships were, and even though they didn't have any conflict between themselves, they made them strong sides for the final fight. Yumoto didn't get a character arc but through the entire anime he was revealed to be strong, considerate, forgiving and mature, willing to kindly befriend the Beppu twins for his brother but not let them walk all over him; contrary to how he was presented in the first episodes, like a stereotypical magical girl protagonist. Anyway in HK there's no meaningful conflict between any of them besides Kyoutarou and Ata. Taishi and Ichiro argue constantly but don't show to genuinely like each other after all like IoRyuu or EnAtsu did. Ichiro and Maasa never make any progress to be together again, Maasa hints once at liking Taishi and nothing comes from it, and Nanao and Taiju have the most artificial friendship in the cast that I just do not understand. They just ran an ice cream shop once with again unexplained success and make sassy remarks at each other ever since. And I guess Karurusu and Furanui had a bit of developement thanks to Kyou and Ata in ep12. Idk about the aliens, this time it's like they didn't do it completely well but also not as bad as with the rest of the cast. Maybe bc they didn't appear as much as the humans in most of the episodes
I'm realizing now that a few of these complaints are related to Nanao acting weird
Idk where to put this but I'd like to point out Kinshiro's principles of halting the fight with the Battle Lovers as soon as he finds out that the s1 conflict was set up for a reality show and actively defending them from an attack because they're Binan students, despite still not having received his apology from Atsushi. Ata might've done the same if the HK finale's events had gone in the same order (travelling to Honyalaland to fight Wao, then Kyoutarou apologizing to Ata), but he doesn't feel as a character as deep as Kinshiro in that sense bc they didn't really show him to be in other ways.
Love feels more like an actual group of people while HK feels like they were filling in friendship group roles or something
#boueibu#marine talks#i don't have much to say bc though i try to watch animes i find interesting with the boueibu seiyuus i don't know much about them#however i can say that i predicted kazutomi yamamoto voicing the riceballs in osomatsu-san#sadly i haven't watched s3 yet#i also try to follow when they act in idol stuff like enstars and i think io's seiyuu was in hypmic#i try to follow the stage play actors too in case anything they do is interesting

Haigakura Episode 5 Review - Those Are Some Tiny Peaches
The flashbacks are finally over and now we’re back to the main story. There are actually some antagonists now and I’m curious to see what they’re like because they seem very dangerous since they can traverse back and forth and are targeting Hakugou.
The way that Kashis can travel back and forth from the fantasy world to Japan is through small peaches that look more like lychee than actual peaches. Consuming one can allow the transportation, but consuming more than one under 24 hours Is practically a death sentence. However, Ichiyo doesn’t need to eat a peach to teleport. This is considered odd. I feel like it has to do something with those wings on his neck? He is an enigmatic presence after all. In fact, none of the higher ups actually knew about this other than Ran Saiwa who kept mum about this.
A new character is introduced. Ryusei was introduced in the previous episode as the man who was watching over Tenko which then changed him from white to red haired. He’s the one who is accompanying Ichiyo and his entourage on a mission to investigate missing peaches. He seems like a composed guy. He also has a servant named Sanhime.
Then, there are two suspicious looking villains. One is blond but also wears a rabbit mask and the other wears a gas mask. Despite their introduction, not much is known about them. Are they from fantasy land because they sure know a lot about Kashis and fantasy land lore? The blond one is very dangerous because he can summon servants but they’re very monstrous. Saiwa had mentioned that there were two guards that were posted in Shurin’s place who disappeared, so could they be it? They’re after Hakugou’s Moon Egg. I wonder what that is.
The Eight Immortals do talk about an inside informant of sorts, and judging from Sanu’s expression at the end, he’s probably that. However, I don’t trust Tekkai. He seems suspicious. Heck, everyone is pretty suspicious, even Saiwa.
The voice cast for the new characters is pretty stacked. I think this is the first time I’m hearing Gakuto Kajiwara voicing an adult character, like not a young adult or a teenager, but an actual grown adult. He sounds nice. Sanhime is voiced by Fuka Izumi, who I am familiar with as Meme Bashame from Nokotan! Her voice sounds so cute in this anime. The blond rabbit mask is voiced by Kazutomi Yamamoto, who’s actually playing an adult character for once, but still has his trademark high-pitched voice. I think it adds into the creepy factor. The gas mask is voiced by Atsushi Tamaru. I don’t think I’ve heard him voice a villain before, so this will be interesting.
But yeah, I think I am doing a decent job of understanding what is going on. Still a little confused, but I’m sure I’ll understand. What are your thoughts on this episode?
