The marvelous thing about Zuo Le is that you know he’s watching all these top of the shelf individuals at Rhodes Island going “fuuuuuuck she’s so coooool” inwardly because at Rhodes Island he’s still pretty conscious about being a nepo baby, but also enthusiastic about being able to put in some legwork in For Realsies, no more being a stuffy official, he can let it rip.

You know he sees Hoshiguma shrug off artillery fire and his balls drop a little, you know he sees Degenbrecher thwart a terrorist cell while putting a really fun puppet show for the three children of a busy single mother on her work interview and he’s involuntarily pogging, you know he sees Qiubai’s blade weave with the grace of a gentle breeze that kisses a baby mouse’s cheek and Skadi’s greatsword cleave with the grace of a hurricane smashing a house on top of a baby mouse and he wants to do both, lad’s having the time of his life, Amiya tells him “Zuo Le, big emergency, we have to deploy right now to an MK Ultra II dangerous secret op, we’re sending all of our most fucked up Operators available, we’re sending Saria, Specter, Passenger, Hellagur, Blaze, Elysium, Nearl, even Podenco, we want you there, I know you just joined RI, so you can decline if you want, but—“ and Zuo Le is already in the airplane on his baby on board seat kicking his feet excitedly with stars in his eye, giggling.

I just finished reading ACD's memoir and one thing I picked up from it is that apparently he only became a doctor because his mother told him to get a medical degree so he could make money, he was never successful at it, and he was thrilled when he was finally able to quit medicine and become a full-time writer. Reading between the lines, it's possible he never actually liked being a doctor very much, and I feel like that kind of puts a different spin on Watson constantly ditching his practice to go run around with Holmes... like the idea of having this manic pixie dream detective come and snatch you away from your boring job that you hate and into a life of ~adventure~ is totally wish fulfillment lol.

Man I can’t stop laughing, poor Lappland, a fan favorite since the start, one the most eagerly awaited characters to have more of a presence any which way, let alone to get an alter, and when she finally gets an alter, she happens to share a banner with god damn Ingrid aka Vulpisfoglia, other fan favorite Suzuran’s mafia hitwoman mom only alluded to in whispers and murmurs, along with “she left Lisa (Suzuran) in trusted care, and then left on a John Wick path of carnage”, who comes rocking a design so damn good that it completely blows Lappland the hell off, not helped by the fact that, while Lapp does look good, she doesn’t look too different aesthetically from her Guard alt skin (which is practically her official look now anyways), dampening her impact further.

Then, we finally see what Raidian looks like, and then she subsequently takes over social media and fanart spaces in a sweep the likes of which I assume no one at Hypergryph remotely anticipated, and Lappland doesn’t even get to enjoy the post-Artists Got The Vulpisfoglia Out Of Their Systems period, and gets blown the fuck off a second time. Dire.

Then then, it’s suggested but not confirmed that Lapp might be the Operator to appear in the Limbus Company collab, which isn’t necessarily intrinsically getting blown the fuck off, but that’s something I wouldn’t wish upon anybody personally.

Mind you, it’s not like she got no art or fanfare at all whatsoever, and long term, she’s going to remain a very popular character, hell I like Lapp a lot, but it’s just so funny how her her big alter reveal came out and it wasn’t the most hype thing or even the second most hype thing to happen that month.
