rewatching s1 this time around has actually left me sooooo fascinated by buck and abby's relationship??????? bc what we know of it in its aftermath is actually completely visible on screen during the season???

in episode 6 when abby is talking to carla about a potential valentines day date with buck she outright says she's fine with him being a boytoy and it just being something casual so she can feel good in herself again and is almost complaining that buck is taking it so seriously by trying to go slow. and the thing is, i don't think her stance on that ever changes???????

she absolutely cares about him and appreciates him for everything he does for her (both in helping support her with her mom and what he does in helping her find her way back to herself) but i don't think she ever really wanted or needed him to be more than that????

on the flipside, you have buck who's experiencing feelings he's never felt before and is so totally overwhelmed by this woman who's making him realise real connection is possible and it feels a million times better than the way he's vied for people's attention before. and there's something a little heartbreaking in the way he questions if he's ready for it to be something real. because bobby encourages him to step into the relationship fully and in the end he does do that

but abby doesn't really want him to???

so you have buck, fully committed and ready to be the partner he thinks abby needs, and abby, who is so completely unable to be that partner in return because she wants to navigate the next stage of her life alone

I know most of the DBDA fandom probably thinks at paineland at the trope of "x fell first, xx fell harder" is Edwin falling first and Charles now falling harder; because Edwin was obviously shown first to express his feelings.

But consider this-

Charles falling in love with Edwin slowly a little more every day, falling a bit deeper for him every day they spent side by side.

And at some point later- Edwin is crushing hard. Realizing "oh shit, I love him-" and falling hard in a chaotic storm of feeling he doesn't know how to deal with, he's a complete mess.

Idk, I personally prefer the second version more but both options can be great interpretations of their dynamic.

Okay... the tears just literally formed in my eyes. Not just because of the ending (even tho we all knew Clank's gonna survive it was so well played & I was moved af). The reason why I want to cry loud is the fact that you didn't direct this back in 2016 (F u, Kevin "Moron" for ruining the great chance to make our boys shine on a big screen). Almost everything was perfect here. The only thing which concerns me is that Ratchet hasn't named our lil robot Clank & we never learn who exactly did so before. Vox? Anyways, this is certified R&C: Motion Picture from now. It follows THE MAIN TITLE. It's a movie about them. The chemistry between them is perfectly written, so as their good balanced characters alone. Ratchet has his cocky moments (just how we love) & Clank isn't shown just as a sidekick here. There is no forced drama like in most of nowadays animations & Qwark doesn't get too much spotlight like in the official bullcrap. & THANK GOD NEFARIOUS ISN'T USED IN HERE. Also I enjoyed the fact you casted Hydro Girl as one of secondary characters (we've seen her a few seconds episode at the end of Deadlocked game & that's it xD). I love the easter eggs like that. Speaking of which. So much use of quotes we've heared before (in other games, the actual 'movie' itself) worked here much better than in 2016. & how could I haven't mention the humour? Two words: COMEDY GOLD. Even some cringy jokes like with H2Ohhh took me off guard (maybe because I'm cringy myself). It was somehow creative hehe. But the *bleep* joke, Ratchet asking Vox if that armor makes his butt look fat... I thought I will pee myself from laugh. THE ACTION. I WOULD GIVE ANYTHING TO SEE THIS ON A BIG SCREEN. YOU HAVEN'T FORGOT ABOUT THE GRIND BOOTS. 😭 I think I went too far with writing but it doesn't describe how much I love what you've created anyway. But honestly I hate you at the same time. The fact that we could've get this masterpiece instead of a pile of shit 6 years ago breaks my heart most. Also the animated credits with their further adventures... okay I want to cry more now. SHOW THIS SCRIPT TO GOOD ANIMATION STUDIO. GIVE R&C ANOTHER CHANCE TO SHINE. IMPROVISE.

Hello there! Do you like Ratchet & Clank? Do you like movies? Do you like reading screenplays by some nerd with too much free time on his hands? You probably said no to that last one... SO, I wrote a thing.

This script is what my..."ideal", if you would call it that, vision of what a Ratchet & Clank movie would be like. This is actually my second draft, the first draft is a little stinky. Please read and (hopefully) enjoy. Feedback is more than welcomed.

bweird OC-tober Day 10 Personality

Roxanne is.... extremely complicated. High confidence, low self-esteem. She has extreme anger issues but is unfailingly kind and patient when people need her to be. Volatile is how most the people who know her would describe her. She has big emotions! and never had the right tools to deal with them. But thanks to the wonderful friends she's made along her journey she's learning to use her anger as a tool and not just to lash out at those around her and herself. She's come a long way! But she still has a long road left.

I saw you were looking for analysis of Laura's character and though I haven't been following you or Hellsing for very long, I just had to share something!

I distinctly remember this comic you drew, called "Sympathy," where Alucard brings home Seras just after turning her and Laura, a woman who acts over and over again like she's indifferent to people at best, insists on putting Seras to bed herself. Because "girls should look out for girls."

I've thought about that comic a lot ever since. It really does seem to me Laura and Alucard, while different breeds of monster with different backstories, are cut from the same proverbial cloth. (I have a feeling she'd hate being compared in any way to Alucard, though, LOL!). She is, without question, a monster, and she has long since embraced that. But it's scenes like this one that make me think, maybe she can be MORE than that?

Or maybe that's just a testament to Seras's power? She draws out the humanity in her allies, no matter how little they may have left. Thank God for her!

And bless you for creating Laura! I could learn some things from you. ^_^

Laura's more selfless moments are very rare, but they do appear. You can't make a pure evil character, you gotta let some stuff seep through.

While Seras has this magic ability to just make people warm up to her even if they don't want to, Laura can still recognize a fellow survivor.

She sees a battered young girl thrust into a world of monstrosity and death and survival, something that happened in a split second, and doesn't see herself but sees the suffering she went through. The least she could do is bathe, change her into clean clothes and tuck her into bed, safe from potentially dangerous hands while she's at her most vulnerable. It doesn't matter if those hands belong to people she knows and recognizes.

Laura, like Alucard, rejects the notion that she's anything more than a monster. But undeniably those two still very much retain forms of their humanity. They're capable of (rare) kindness, mercy, of recognizing a person worthy of respect. And, if you think about it, their backstories contrast as much as they're similar, with the complete loss of bodily agency and their relationship with God and their own monstrosity. This is why they're not hostile with each other, even if Laura finds him annoying. It's like two veterans drinking together.

Seras really brings those traits out of them. She's a different aspect of humanity, even if she's not human anymore. Integra represents the determination and pride of humanity, but Seras represents its resilience and the raw aspects of its emotional impacts and the importance of forming bonds and surviving and moving forward together. She melts hearts and explicitly wishes to do good. She's the only character to do so.

All in all, what I'm getting at is that as much as those two edgelords wish to distance themselves to protect themselves from the emotional consequences and turmoil of their curses, pasts and sins, that shred of humanity in them screams for a connection. And when it manages to find even a sliver of it, it clings to it with the desperation they try to hide.
