SHE HAS A NAME!! Her name is Poppy because the Hermits couldn't pronounce her actual name and she let them give her a nickname. She leaves little poppy flowers around the world when she visits as a parting gift that she was there. hermitcraft lore tine-ins: so the fanfiction that she was originally from/created for actually involved the Season 6 Prank War/Civil War. (which I can also make a post about sometime to give all the context, I'm fine spoiling it now considering I'm talking about the big twists lol) The base concept was that the war accidentally got a bit more serious than everyone playing around, actually had consequences on the Hermits and their relationships, and ended up with Grian and Doc utilizing Grian's time machine to go back and try and stop things. It went super wrong, and Xisuma chasing after them by their literal coding trails to bring them back is how he almost died (he literally threw them at his brother and then basically tried to fistfight the world that was actively trying to get rid of them because their code was the doubled one). Up until this point, Poppy was reserving herself to watching and keeping herself present solely to ensure the world stayed running - she did not want to interfere and alter whatever course they put themselves on because of her. But when Doc and Grian disappeared, then Xisuma, and then his brother (for like a good few hours, he came back), she got incredible concerned and went looking, which is where she found Xisuma and pulled him out before he could be destroyed and returned him home. After this happened and she revealed herself to the Hermits, she allowed herself to become involved and to allow herself to intervene on their behalf to ensure their continued survival and protection. While she will not engage for small events and will allow them to figure out most situations on her own to prevent any sort of reliance, she did involve herself with the moon's falling, working to help hold things together long enough for everyone to escape safely before she allowed herself to leave and follow them to their next world. There are some events she can prevent and intervene with, but there are also things she can't, due to higher powers or the stability of the world itself (she can't save a world that cannot hold itself together), or won't intervene with due to the belief of furthering their own independence. Poppy works hard to ensure that they all remain safe, and even though she can't/won't fix everything she still loves them so much.

Communication with Watchers varies from world to world. Some, like the Hermits, really never saw their Watcher - they had Xisuma, who existed in an odd between-state, and as such they never felt the need to try and communicate. The few times they tried, she would not answer back - Poppy had created a barrier between herself and them to protect herself and them from her own grief, and it took her a long time to allow it to come down. Before Xisuma joined the world as their Admin, he was with them near constantly and had direct communication with them. Other worlds are extremely connected to their Watcher(s), and they are deeply involved in the going-ons of the world, while others are extremely distant and are never seen, taking the idea of "watching" literally.

There are bad Watchers, and ones who do their job poorly. Some see themselves as above their players, and will take things out on them and lash out at them. Because of how many worlds there are, it can be hard to keep checks and balances on one another, and unfortunately things slip through the cracks. It's also not unheard of for Watchers who have lost their world due to their own negligence or who have went rogue from their assignments to target other worlds, either to create havoc or to attempt to take them for themselves. It's not super common, as it isn't advised to try and create conflict with a Watcher actively guarding a world (think mother bear and their cubs), but some still try. I've tossed around the idea of this happening with Hermitcraft, solely because I want Poppy, Xisuma, and Ex to fight together and show off that yes, they are a terrifying force to be reckoned with together.

Worlds with more than one player are *supposed* to have a Watcher, but there are some without due to things slipping through the cracks. Watchers don't have a workers division, they kind of just go where they're told by whoever tells them to. (Debating tying this into some of the End religion from my Minecraft universe headcanons but not entirely sure yet, the goddess there controls time and what is seen as the "in betweens" of life and death so it would make sense for her to have the oversights and the supervision but. Not sure yet.). Also haven't figured out what's the allowed/not allowed/etc. There's the unspoken rule of keeping your nose out of other worlds and their business, as well as the more enforced rule of "you need to let the players do their thing, you can't just give them everything", but I'm open to ideas as well!

Personified End Poem is exactly the vibes I wanted!!! I love the angst from Watchers, but I feel like this can create not only a softer, gentler story but also a different brand of angst. It's not as explicit as "the overseers are aggressive and bad", but there's something really sad to me about the concept of an immortal being who will almost always outlive their players, who will never get to experience what its like to be among their players as one of them without giving up everything and separating themselves entirely from their life before, of holding your worlds together with every scrap you have left within you and knowing that one day it may not be enough. Xisuma and Poppy themselves hurt more than a little bit to me, in that to help those he loved on the level they needed Xisuma had to leave behind the only person who he has ever known to this point, knowing he can never return - the closest he can get is a broken binary form (which I have designed and I am hoping to draw for real soon!!) that can't survive in the world she exists in. idk i just,,, i love them and i love the idea of poppy and the hermits and them basically being her little ducklings. those are HER players and she WILL protect them, don't even TRY and come close to them

oughhh i want to talk about all my old hermitcraft stuff from when I was in high school so badly, I used to have a fanfiction I was writing that I gave up on to rewrite that I've still been working on ideas for and making headcanons for for like...4 years now and it makes me go feral

anyways anyways hermitcraft fandom we go wild over watcher stuff I Know I'm One of them but like...the concept that they're not evil and just do their job and hang out and like their players?? makes my heart happy. very big very tall creatures who are not human but not exactly space either who absolutely love these little dorks they've been asked to keep an eye on. they're not all good but like. most of them are decent. xisuma is the younger of a set (i still haven't named her, i want it to be something either really elegant or something super silly and cute from the Hermits naming her), he's practically the son of the older of the pair, and they're a phenomenal set. but when they're assigned to hermitcraft everything changes.

he spends a lot of his time on the ground with the players, and he finds himself just absolutely falling in love with them and his time with them, and when they find themselves in need of an admin and a leader he makes the difficult choice and gives up his life Watching and becomes one of them - an incredibly difficult process that he wasn't even sure he would survive due to what he had to do to adapt. (It was in this process that his twin forms and its great they're great they're jerks to each other and it works for them).

I have an old adaptation from an SMP of an admin form that I'm utilizing here that he forced himself into - he couldn't become a player but he couldn't live among them in his current form, so he found a middle ground. It isnt stable, it's joints are made of fluctuating code and it doesn't like the overworld anymore than his first form liked to fit in it, but it's the closest he'll get - besides, because the admin form is a blank slate, he can create his own appearance overtop of it.

but to do this he gave up his life with the person who he'd spent his eternity with, and who he knew he would likely never truly see again. and all the love in the world he has for his expanding players and his worlds could never replace the empty place he has for the person who taught him how to love to begin with.

(she saves his life later on when he tries to be a silly self sacrificing little goof and everyone cries but he doesn't know that xoxo)

anyways I just needed to get this out of my brain I may do this for the old fanfiction as well, it was related to the s6 civil war and time travel and stuff and I kinda miss it but God idk if I'll ever actually get to write it now with adult stuff. it was originally grian centric but it definitely is now xisuma centric he's my little dude.

don't you want to be a cult leader? - danyal al ghul au

this is mostly a joke post but i thought it was funny and had to share so--

his first mistake was, obviously, inheriting his father's inability to see an injustice and stand still. -- actually, danyal's first mistake was his lair being so big. a mountainous island with a large temple in the center resembling his old home in Nanda Parbat? With sprawling foliage and rivers and streams and waterfalls galore? What was he going to do with all that space? Let it go to waste? He had plants there! Native trees of the ghost zone growing from the soil! He couldn't let it all be left unchecked!

So naturally after helping a fellow teenage assassin ghost -- who he later learns is named Akihiko, -- from Walker of all people, he sent them over to hang low at his lair until it was safe enough for them to wander around the Zone. Walker couldn't get through Danyal's astrofield if his life depended on it, and trust him -- he's tried. Danny was clearing out debris from his stupid transport vans for weeks.

Honestly it wasn't so bad, he and Aki really quickly became fast friends and Danny loves having a sparring partner close to his level again -- he hasn't had this much fun fighting since he left the League. Aki was very dedicated and levelheaded, the both of them clicked really well because of it.

Nonono, the real trouble began after Danyal met some long-passed League members and allowed them to come join his island as well. Apparently they had made a few enemies of the zone, and maybe Danyal still felt some loyalty to the League. He couldn't just let them be left to rot. Their zealotry could be overlooked so long as they kept it contained and helped him take care of his island.

And it.. snowballs from there? He meets a teen squire aptly calling himself Ambroise -- whether that was his living name or not is yet to be seen -- who died during feudal france, who is just about as dramatic and passionate as every french stereotype makes them out to be. He calls Danyal "my moon and great muse" -- which is both flattering and little uncomfortable, but Danyal's grown up in the League as the Grandson of the Demon Head, he is used to mild worship. he passes it off as nothing more, nothing less. -- and while his energy is overwhelming on the worst of days, he helps Danny draw out of his shell more in ways that Sam and Tucker still struggle with.

Him and Aki butt heads a lot, but the two seem to hold the other in at least some positive regard, so Danny doesn't worry too much about them fighting while he's gone. It only becomes a mild issue when Aki also begins calling Danny "my moon". It's a little sweet, so Danyal brushes it off.

Then he takes in a troupe of ghosts some time after he defeats Pariah Dark and they begin calling him "great one" just as the yetis do in the far frozen. This is where he meets the twins -- a pair of sibling ghosts who call themselves Trixie and Missy (short for Trick and Mislead) -- who aren't quite as passionate as Ambroise but more energetic than Aki. Eventually they also start calling Danyal "my moon" and attach themselves to his hip, even within the living. They like to hide in his shadow and cause trouble for the rest of the students. He makes sure they don't hurt anyone.

He's pretty sure Aki is jealous, same with Ambroise, but he can't be too certain other than the fact that they become much more lingering (re: clingy) whenever he visits the island.. Something he's trying to do much more often these days due to the increasing amount of people living there now. Since when did he become so popular?

Then there's Pēnelópeia from the Greater Athens, who ran away from home and joined his Island after he ran into her while she was being chased by Skulker -- and he's pretty sure the reason was because of her chimeric appearance. Her strange eyes and mismatched wings and lion's tail and talons. She assimilates into his friend group very easily, she gets along well with Ambroise and Trixie and Danny usually finds the three of them climbing the trees to pluck the most fruit from the top. They can fly and he knows it, but they prefer to climb.

Then finally there's silent poet Akkara who comes from ancient mesopotamia, who gets along most with Aki -- which is no surprise there considering their similar personality dispositions. he watches Aki and Danyal fight each other and leaves comments on this or that that he notices. He writes Danyal poems on clay tablets and leaves them by his room.

They're one big mismatched group of outcasts, and Danny's got the other ghosts on his island to tend to, because they're living on his island and he wants to be hospitable even if he struggles with that. But he spends the most of his time with them.

Sam and Tucker are making fun of him. Tucker jokingly tells him 'careful Danny, at this rate you're gonna start a cult'. Danny really wishes he had taken that joke more seriously.

He just. keeps. collecting people. Wayward souls lost in the zone, looking for shelter or refuge from something or other -- whether that be another hostile ghost, or a past afterlife, or just a purpose. Danyal finds them, he takes them in, offers them a place on his island until they are ready to leave. Many seldom do. He's not complaining -- he has the space, and it feels like it's only ever growing.

His close friends, his "inner circle" as he's heard the others call them, keep insistently calling him "my moon". He starts calling them his stars, because then it only feels fair. They're his stars, this is his constellation. It becomes a thing; little star halos begin forming behind their heads, picking them out from the rest. He loves them so much, it's hard to place. Sam and Tucker are also his stars, but they reside in the living realm, they're his tie to Life. Meanwhile, his friends here know what it's like to be dead, and sometimes its nice to relate.

Those living on his island keep calling him "Great One" and he's beginning to notice zealotry in their care for his island. He really, deeply appreciates it. His close friends gain nicknames -- as his stars, it's only natural for him to pick them out from the cluster in the skies. Akihiko, his Sirius and bright star. Trix and Missy, Castor and Pollux, the twins and troublemakers. Ambroise, his zealous Antares and close friend. Penelopeia, chimeric and loyal Vega. And Akkara, his Arcturus and strength.

It's ridiculous how long it takes for him to notice; he is, of course, a deadly trained assassin. He is meant to be observant -- and normally he is! But somehow this becomes a blind spot. One that becomes too big to be dealt with by the time he realizes it.

He should've noticed when Aki, his Sirius, stood beside him one day while Danyal looked over his island and saw the sprawling spirits carrying on about their afterlife and bowing to him as they saw him, and said: "I looked down into the depths when I met you; I couldn't measure it." They aren't one for flowing prose, it took him so off guard he was silent for over a minute before he finally spoke.

Danyal should've recognized devotion for what it is, and yet he didn't. He should've recognized it when Antares began spouting praises about him, crowing about his radiance and resplendence to the heavens. He just brushed it off as Ambroise being Ambroise. He should've recognized it when Trix and Missy nearly broke Dash's leg after he knocked Danyal's books out of his hands, he excused it as them being protective. Of them coming from times where such violence may have been customary -- after all, that's what he used to be like. What he was still like, sometimes, when his emotions nearly got the better of him.

He should've noticed it when the people living on his island followed his word like gospel, looked at him like he hung the stars in the sky. When his friends gifted him a shawl with the moon phases delicately embroidered into it, with silver, shimmering thread and moving stars lovingly stitched into it. Their constellations seen clear as day in the dark fabric. When he found small shrines dedicated to him -- but they lacked any image of him beyond stones carved to look like moons, so he ignored it. When the religious imagery began popping up.

He really, really should've noticed it when a bunch of cultists accidentally summoned Antares, and Antares had turned to him when he arrived and called them heretics. But he was so centered on the fact that they had kidnapped one of his stars, that he hadn't paid much attention to what Ambroise had said.

Sages say that faith is blind, they should also say faith in you is even blinder.

It really only hits him one afternoon while he's sitting in Sam's room studying with Tucker, Missy and Trixie lounging at his feet, Aki sat on his right, Penelopeia braiding his hair, Ambroise draped against him, and Akkara lurking over him. Its one of the rare few times they're all in one room together.

It hits him like a bolt of lightning. He looks up from his textbook. "Oh Ancients," he says in no amounting shock. Everyone looks up to him.

"I've become my grandfather."

You know how in canon he truly believes he's on the right side and makes everything to ensure that Optimus wins the war? You know how he's willing to make every tough decision so Optimus doesn't have to risk his reputation? You know how he literally makes Autobots look like shiny brave and clean heroes who did nothing wrong ever?

I want all that but the other way around. I want him to do that for Megatron and for the Decepticons. The implications would be so fucking dramatic I could write a whole essay.

Low rank Cons would hate him so fucking bad.

Starscream would try to murder him at least once a day.
