Ok so, I was gonna do my thoughts on the new episode Yesterday, but I'm running on little sleep and just .. procesing lol but I I'll share some stuff now~

I gotta start by personality thanking Weiss for keeping me just barely out of the total depression zone after this episode lol I don't know where I would be if she wasn't around being silly and annoyed at everything lol she really made things better for all of us

That said she also really needs to talk about her problems. They all need it. But damn, I almost forgot that yes, this child lost her whole kingdom and doesn't even know if her family made it ok to Vaccuo. God Remnant is a mess!

I also have to thank Little for being adorable and making my life better lol seriously that 'I always wanted to Be Long, but I'm still just small' lives rent free in my head and I love it lol one of my highlights of the episode.

Bees!!! There were some of the best bees we've ever had!!! And we've had soany great moments before! But seriously, you can taste the happiness on Blake's tone!!! You can see the love in her eyes! And you can also feel the excitement and happiness from both Barb and Arryn and all of crwby on that whole scene! They've worked so hard for this! And it's finally happening!

Also loving the bi and lesbian colored flowers on that scene <3 I love how much crwby does to point to Blake as bi specially, ni characters ar often ignored/missclassified for the relationship they get into and I hate that. Blake's our Bi-Icon and she always will be

I didn't knew I needed Blake doing puns in my life lol but God it was glorious! Also it reminded me of that time Arryn said that she had troible voicing chibiBlake because 'Blake is so...not funny!' that she didnt know how to deliver the lines lol glad to see Blake's character growth, she deserves nothing less, and Arryn is killing it with the voice acting!

Speaking of voice Acting: Lindsay!!! OMG I've always been a huge fan of them as Ruby's voice actor, but theyre really stepping up their game this season! Hearing Ruby's voice being so devoided of emotion Is so painful to hear and Lindsay just sells it! 💔

Ruby has lost so, so much, and she hasn't even had time to mourn or just process... I feel like the moment when she saw the sword and broke was the moment she finally really understood that Penny was gone again... Like, I feel a part of her was still denying it, she wouldn't adress it directly or even accept to talk about It... But I mean, she isn't really talking about anything...

So maybe I'm just proyecting I guess

So it's official that emotions have an effect on Ever After's weather. The guards said that someone was purposefully ruining the king's birthday by making it rain. Yikes, this Is gonna get hard to watch... *Hugs Ruby*

I saw someone talk about The scene where Alice creates a flood with her tears and... Yeah, I can see that happening once Ruby finally reaches her límit. I'm so not ready

I had been sad for most of this episode, but Ruby's eulogy? I have not recovered. I don't think I ever will 😭😭😭😭😭 Penny deserved so much better.

Also as much as I would love to have Penny back again and for good... I think this chapter really made me feel like it's over with her, I'm not ok with it, but 'ces't la vie, right?

The girls asking Ruby is she's really ok with giving up the sword 😭😭 they all knew how important and special Penny was for Ruby and viceversa.

Ruby is definitely keeping that Sword tho, it's not even a question not just because of the tráiler (that I didn't watch but I've seen mentioned lol). According to Blake Alyx knew the object she was looking for because her heart told her and don't get me started on how much this says about Penny and Ruby's relationship 😭 you don't feel a pull on your heart for just about anyone! So that means Penny's Sword is the equivalent of Alyx's knife.

Also, I feel like Ruby will take the sword with her when they leave. Maybe as a second weapon, maybe she'll combine Crescent Rose with it like Jaune did with Pyrrha's armor

And Blake with the gold bit on Gambol Shroud but... Don't get me started on that I was honestly so disapointed on that after seeing the many cool designs the fandom had made lol

Anyways, I think it's important that Ruby felt the pull to the sword but Yang didn't really feel it towards her arm that is literally a part of herself.

The prices are so fascinating too and I think they're important on this point, but I linda want to make a separate post to talk about that because I have a lot to say lol. But the point is, the sword is Alyx's knife, that's gonna be important.

To end on a happy note: I'm never getting over Weiss hitting herself with the rock lol amazing, spectacular, perfect in every way.

And so, I think it's my time to go! I can't believe we're just two episodes in and things are already this good! And terrible! :D next saturday cannot come soom enough!

Potentially very good things about RWBY anime:

I've been very rough and negative yesterday about this news (as i usually am with new things), so i sat down and thought of some of the things that on the other hand do excite me about the new RWBY Anime.

• they (might) fix some slight inconsistencies from V1, like establish yang's ambiguous sexuality, erase jaunedice, shadow people, ecc.. remember Japan already did this with their original RWBY dub, plenty of scenes were cut from the original causing much less confusion!! And i will take any extra team rwby scene over a second of jaunedice lol

• we get to hear Linds, Kara, Arryn and Barb remake their lines from V1 and add on them!! which i just find so exciting to think about now that they have such confidence and experience with their own characters!! very nice!!

• new style is refreshing and unique, even if i don't necessarely like it i still think it will be lovely to see the girls interact in a brand new style!!

• the AU, or whatever it is, has potential for some very good spin off and it does interest me genuinely

• the clown in me wants to believe we'll get more beacon bees moments compared to canon, i know just yesterday i was literally complaining we won't, but what can i say i am a whole ass clown, and im so desperate for content im gonna beg an anime, out of all source materials, to give it to me 😭

• im raw as fuck but if weeb money means more budged for rwby main i am HAPPY lmfao i am very much used to people trashing rwby main, saying literally anything is better than it so, it no longer touches me, just lend your money and attention to the rt website loves...everyone wins, you get to complain about the original bc its not anime enough, while i get to see 25 min long rwby episodes and bumbleby kiss in breathtaking cgi sunset ☺️

Jokes aside, i've come to accept that this Anime is gonna divide the community and the internet even further when it comes to RWBY, but i will take my joys where i can, because tbh im too tired to pretend i care if people wanna hate two women being in love, im used to it at this point, this attitude is an old tradition with that side of the community!! From the preview and the comments made by the cast it looks like they're not gonna let this be some generic stereotyped anime, and thats enough to make me carefully happy 🤷

I really feel like CRWBY interacts too much with its fans in a way that I never see the crews of other similarly sized or bigger media productions doing. Honestly I think there’s been some extreme irresponsibility with the things the crew has said. I think it’s totally fine that Barb and Arryn love bees, but I genuinely think that BB wasn’t planned from the start and that CRWBY was kind of forced to go with it because of the things Barb and Arryn were constantly posting without clarifying that their statements weren’t canon, which is why Blake’s relationship and development with Sun was just dropped completely like it never happened and why BB development has been so slow and awkward, giving us just crumbs for years. Because they don’t know what they’re doing and it wasn’t planned but they realized during v5 that fans so earnestly believed it’d be canon that they couldn’t NOT do BB without severe backlash. Thoughts?

This is what I've always wondered about if RT has a backbone or not. Do they just bend over to any demands in hopes that it'll please the crowd of fans that'll still demand more things?

The thing with fandoms is that you give them an inch and they'll take a mile. Not just with the RWBY fndm, but fandoms in general. You have to ultimately create a healthy distance between creator and fan, you can't always be every fans' friend, but that's not the creator's fault. If a fan thinks you're an asshole for never talking with them, or just giving them small talk, it's still not the creator's fault.

I remember (back in my day) when creators were practically untouchable, unreachable. You forget half the time they even exist. With such close contacts, we have now with the internet, I feel as though every creator should practice distancing themselves from needy fans. Any fan that's trying to pry into their business. Quite honestly, as much as fans love you, they have no reason to be prying into production and changes, unless it's absolutely necessary. But other than that, creators should take what fans say with a hefty grain of salt.

If RWBY was truly "planned from the beginning," there should be no need for the obvious fanservice fodder that they've been feeding viewers. It'll bump the flow or just unnecessarily twist the story. I still believe nothing was planned from the beginning, the clues of that become clear over time when you watch the show itself.

I do see what you mean when using BB as an example. This ship is the embodiment of "give them an inch, they'll take a mile." I feel like this ship had a manufactural setup, rather than being organic and true to a normal relationship. An organic relationship growth was BlackSun, no contest. It was setup, it was aimed to become something more, but then the manufactured BB ship came along and things began to look bleak for BlackSun.

Not saying I am a fan of BlackSun or BB. Honestly, Blake doesn't deserve either sun, haha. She's become too aggressively moody, it mucks up positivity that these two radiated (or Yang used to). These sunny dragons deserve a better outlet in their lives.

Now, I do know that it happens a lot within production crews: how they happen to have a favourite pairing from the show they're working on, and they'd like to express it online. That's fine! They're entitled to show that! But also, they shouldn't shove it on the creators to make it canon. While they're free to ship whatever, whoever they want, in no way should they demand the creators to make it happen.

I feel as though that's where RT should've grown a backbone. It's dumb to even force a ship to become canon when the real focus should be about the story and characters. And if they have an established ship (BlackSun,) and they were aiming for that to become a thing then, by all means, they should've buckled down and kept that route ongoing.

They wouldn't even have to be mean about it. Demeaning fans for liking a ship won't solve anything. All you can do is politely, but firmly, ask that the fndm respects all ships, respect what someone ships, and please respect canonical ships. That's really all you can do. It's not the creator's fault if the fans want to throw a fit until they get what they want. Continue with the canonical ships and be done with it.

Sometimes you can't fight fire with fire, because somebody's going to get burned in the end.

How they went about deconstructing BlackSun was more of a stain of Blake's character. She's nasty to Sun, something I seriously won't forgive the writers for. Not because it's Sun, but because Blake shows a terrible side of being an abuser. Using this horrendous writing as a way to spit on BlackSun to please the BB fans was a slap to the face.

I've got better ways of how BlackSun could've been put down, but the point is, RT has the backbone structure of a noodle. They just twist and bend to whatever fans want and push aside the criticism that they get for doing so.

I also don't think RT knows what they're doing with BB. It's just been a very awkward trek to make them an official pairing. There's nothing wrong with liking BB, but I do wish the fans of this ship would've been given better representation than just scraping for whatever they see. Then again, aggressive BB fans that demanded this ship and were influenced by Barb and Arryn's shipping should always be ignored. You don't want to give the spoiled kids what they want. Because again, you give them an inch and they'll take a mile.

Now it seems like Yang and Blake are paying the price in the writing. Yang is terribly moody and Blake just stands in the corner being sad. They don't have any motivation, other than to be each others' girlfriend. I don't know about you, but that's a really sad existence. It's even sadder when the fans don't seem to notice or realize it, they're just also in the narrow mindset of "oh all they need is a girlfriend and they'll be happy."

Look, at the end of the day, you might not ship Bumbleby, you might not care about a ship becoming canon, you might not care about the implications of the interactions.

But denying what has gone down here is not something easily done. Barb confirmed it. Arryn confirmed. Multiple people on Twitter confirmed it this week and the last. Barb gave us the insight to know this has been endgame from day one.

Bumbleby has not always been a ship of mine. But it is a powerful ship, and one that won me back over, despite my own personal misgivings in the past. It is a ship I will proudly stand by and a ship I am floored to see become canon.

RWBY is one of the biggest, most popular internet shows out there. And for them to do this with Bumbleby? That's... that's almost on par with what Legend of Korra did with Korrasami.

And, just as I did the day the finale aired in Korra, I see the same arguments now. "They didn't kiss/say anything, therefore it isn't canon". I see other shippers arguing. I see antis arguing. I see people jumping through hoops and making leaps and bounds to deny what has happened here today.

But there is no denying it. Bumbleby is canon, and regardless of your personal feelings toward the fndm, the characters, the ship, whatever. This is an important moment in RWBY history. And it is a god damn important moment in our fndm, in our culture, and in our knowledge of anime and cartoons.

Miles, Kerry, Gray, and Monty, bless his soul, wherever he is, gave us something that we didn't think could be canon. That we didn't think was possible to see in modern animation.

And that is worth celebrating.

We saw Blake, abused, beat down, gaslit, and destroyed, stand up and stand against her abuser with a woman she thought she'd lost forever. We saw her find the ability to forgive, to love again, and to face her fears. We saw Yang, torn apart by Adam and shaking, be comforted by the person she thought she'd never have the same relationship with again, and see what they could be.

We saw Adam, a monster, realize what they were to each other.

We saw the revelation. We saw the start. And now? We get to see everything else. Maybe they're not together right now, maybe it'll take all of V7 for them to face this new knowledge, especially with how traumatized Blake and Yang are, right now.

But we know they know how they feel. We know they must face it. We know they love each other.

And we know that CRWBY stands behind Bumbleby canon 100%. And I think that that, regardless of anything else, is important. That that, even if they take three more volumes to sort it out, to kiss, to say "I love you", is so, so fantastic.

They know how they feel. They know how the other feels. And WE know. Beyond a SHADOW of a doubt we KNOW.

What we're seeing here today is only the beginning of something beautiful. A piece of RWBY that will change so much both in the show and outside it. And I think that's so, so important to remember.

This is not queer baiting. This is not an accident. This is not something to misinterpret.

They are canon. Just like Arkos was. Just like Renora is. Just like Tai loved Summer and Raven, Yang and Blake love each other.

So thank you, Miles, Kerry, CRWBY. Thank you Monty. For giving us something I never thought I'd see in a mainstream show way back when this all started. Something I still doubted even up until last week's episode.

Why Rooster Teeth Aren't Queerbaiting with B*mbleby (and Why They Won't Keep Teasing Blacks*n As Well)

This is going to be my last somewhat salty post for a while, because I want to have a fun time this hiatus enjoying the nice wholesome parts of this fandom and being hyped for Volume 7 instead of dwelling on the garbage parts of it. But I'm aware that there is a small contingent of people who still think that Rooster Teeth are just queerbaiting with BB for various reasons, and I want to address that.

There are numerous factors that mean it is incredibly unlikely that Rooster Teeth are queerbaiting with BB. For a start, let's consider their track record in RWBY with LGBT+ representation.

Pilot Boi. He was originally planned to be revealed as gay but they removed the line because he died in the same episode and they didn't want that to be the first open LGBT+ rep in the show.

Ilia. The first canon LGBT+ character. Even though she starts as an antagonist it's made very clear in the show that her feelings for Blake are not in any way part of her motivation for the questionable acts she takes part in--if anything her feelings for Blake are presented as partially influencing her to do the right thing--and even though there is a clear moment where she could have been killed off in V5C10 she not only lives but redeems herself and is a valuable asset at the Battle of Haven.

The Cotta-Arcs. Happily married same-sex couple with a lovely child who willingly help the protagonists out.

Scarlet as revealed in the manga and later confirmed canon, plus either Coco or Yatsuhashi as will be made official in the After the Fall novel. Much smaller examples but they show that RT aren't hesitant about adding more LGBT+ characters.

This should make it fairly clear that RT have taken a very positive approach to LGBT+ rep in RWBY so far. They've proven that they want to handle it well, and so it would be frankly ridiculous if they suddenly dropped the ball so completely with BB.

And that's the thing. Almost everyone at RT has been vocally supportive of BB. Both Miles and Kerry have said they like the ship, Arryn and Barb have been on board since basically the beginning, and even the friggin' CEO is Tweeting about how RT is "a fan of any project involving a Bumblebee" now. The RT podcasts recently have been full of unnecessary teasing about "bizzy buzzy friends" and how "[Yang] threw both Bumblebees in [Adam's] face" and "some things were planned from the beginning."

There was a goddamn Valentine's Day card and the other cards in the set had canon couples from RT's other shows.

Not to mention Kerry's comment to "watch the show and find out" because "it's going to be in the show" when he was asked if Blake and Yang are now a couple. That's literally code for "yes, but I don't want to spoil it, so wait and see it with everyone else." If it wasn’t happening then why wouldn’t you take that obvious chance to say so and avoid the inevitable huge backlash you would get if you don’t shut it down?

Nearly all of this has been around the end of V6 and since then, which makes it pretty obvious that RT have changed their approach to talking about BB. They've always been open about being fans of it, but they never hyped it up even remotely this much before even though it's been one of the most popular ships basically since the start. That should tell you that there's a reason for the sudden overwhelming focus on BB from them, and it's because it's happening.

RWBY's an extremely popular show, but BB is far from the only cause of that, and so they simply don't need to bait the LGBT+ viewers to maintain their audience. The tiny number of people who will drop the show over it being canon will be easily made up by new viewers drawn in by such a great canon LGBT+ relationship between two main characters.

To summarise so far, even if their excellent backlog of LGBT+ rep in the show isn't enough to convince you, then there's the fact that it flat out doesn't make any business sense for RT to queerbait with BB, because the shitstorm that would follow if they did would be so much worse than a minuscule amount of pathetic homophobic whining.

And I haven't even covered the most blatant reason why they aren't queerbaiting with BB. Not only do a number of LGBT+ people work at Rooster Teeth--including Arryn and Lindsay, two members of the main cast--but it's patently ludicrous to think that Arryn, a bisexual woman, would knowingly bait her own LGBT+ fanbase. It's not a coincidence that she's talking about BB like it's canon now when she was also the one to warn people that the song Bmblb didn't automatically make it canon a couple of years ago. It's because she knows it's happening; hell, she literally said she checked with the writers that it was before freaking out over it.

In conclusion, there is absolutely no logical reason why RT would queerbait with BB, so the chances of them doing so are infinitesimally small. They very clearly want to do right by their LGBT+ fanbase, and they've passed the point where BB could not happen without it being queerbaiting. They didn't need to hype it up so much over the past few months, but they did, and there's a reason for it (and it's not that they're baiting).

If you're an LGBT+ person or BB fan who was worried that it could be a queerbait, I hope this helps reassure you.

And if you're someone who claims that RT is queerbaiting simply because you don't want BB to be canon no matter what, then quite honestly it is disgusting that you would hope for an underrepresented community of people to be wilfully hurt in that way, and you should be ashamed that you want Rooster Teeth to sink to the same level as you. I'm sorry if you don't like B*mbleby, but that isn't an excuse to wish that kind of harm on RWBY's LGBT+ fans.

Finally, I want to quickly tear down the idea that RT are just going to keep teasing both BB and BS without committing to either one. Nope, that ain't gonna happen either. The backing for BS doesn't even begin to compare to the backing for BB in canon, and given Miles has liked several Tweets about how pointless ship wars/people attacking each other over ships is it seems pretty clear that RT are as tired of the drama surrounding it as most of the fandom.

Only one of those two ships is going to be made canon, and it won't be Blacks*n. So love it or hate it, accept it or scream random bullshit about it to make yourself feel better - BB is what's happening, and at this point nothing is going to change that.

I noticed a pattern towards bb shippers to say so? Like, look at how people who dont ship bb (well, ill get straight into it- antis and toxic bs shippers) view Barb and Arryn- while both love the ship one is clearly more vocal because it means more to her since she’s bi (arryn in cause you didnt get it) while barb, even if she teases it, doesnt talk about it that much on her twitter/videos/whatever.

And guess who’s being called childish, unprofessional, harassed, and which doesnt get much hate besides casual “why you ship that shit” tags on  twitter.

Like, have yall noticed how ever since Arryn got louder about BB she started to get more hate? Like sure, vrv and rt added to it, but like the videos, the tweets, theyre loud, they express her joy for the ship, she was hella excited for this, she wanted blake to be the rep she never got as a child, she wanted to see a character that was just like her, and she’s finally getting it so of course she’s gonna be loud

But you know, she NEVER attacks other ships, even if she doesnt ship them she’s still like “I can see why people ship bs” “I could get behind bs”, she never talks about those and is only optimistic and spreads positivty about the bees- and she’s still getting hate

Because people want us to shut up, to be quiet

Because, when people say “nice bee shipper” they refer to those who NEVER talk anything badly about bs/sun (untagged), to those who are ALWAYS nice to bs/antis even if theyre toxic, that allow toxicity but never lash it back.

I recently saw an ask on a person I posted about (toxic if you didnt get it) from a bee shipper that was like “hey not everyone is like us I think bs is cute i wish you have a nice day” -cute ask. The response “why cant all bee shippers be like this” 

So it made me think. Why cant all bee  shippers be nice to *toxic* bs/antis, why cant they just let all the hate towards bb happen and still give those toxic people their love and support?

They just want us quiet, they just want us to let them do whatever they want and not do anything against it, to not defend ourselves, to not talk about our ship too much.

And to that I say- be as fucking loud as you can. Do not be toxic/crosstag/send them anons or whatever, but be as loud as you can on neutral tags/bb tags/your blogs. Let everyone know about it.

And no, this post isnt about justifying toxic bees’ toxicity, just letting yall know cause some idiots will take some words out of context.

RWBY Volume 6 New York Comic Con news

So this isn’t a proper panel summary thanks to the first half hour being just dead-air for the audience and a lot of the RWBY news being concentrated into one chunk near the middle and a Q&A. I will say upfront the first half hour of this panel is insane in how poorly managed it feels, particularly the part where a Camp Camp episode got shown for... whatever reason. For the record, they cut six times overall during the panel.

Ruby’s character will be undergoing a shift- not a proper edgelord shift but she’ll be a bit more hardened. 

Weiss got a new update to her costume- it was a bit too soon for a full costume shift, but Weiss has gotten herself a red scarf and blue stockings (the scarf is a callback to the V4 World of Remnant on the SDC, where Weiss’s grandfather Nicholas was depicted with such a scarf. Also White Rose fans were really happy).

The panel had a brief teaser for the first episode of Volume 6. We open with a train battle, RWBY fighting off some aerial Grimm. It cuts to the White Fang hideout, where Adam has made his return. He wants his throne back but the rest of White Fang don’t accept him. They still remember how he ran away from the last battle. Adam kills them and takes the throne (cue an Aggressive Negotiations Prequel Meme). We also learn he’s still mad at Blake for betraying him, and is holding a grudge.The next scene showed RWBY and Co. in a train station, preparing to leave for Argus. Qrow sends a letter to Atlas to explain what happened in the Battle of Haven. Blake and Ilia say their goodbyes. Ilia’s going back to Haven to help Blake’s family rebuild. The two share a hug, then part ways.Sun shows up and says that he is going back to his home. He wants to team up with his old crew, including Neptune, who shows up to hit on Ilia. Blake jokes that he is barking up the wrong tree. After everything that happened in Volume 5, Sun decides he needs to become a better team leader. Blake decides she needs to be with her team. Blake gives Sun a kiss on the cheek and rejoins Team RWBY.

Rooster Teeth also will be working with DC Comics for some kind of RT show comic adaptation- various sources are reporting it as both GenLock and RWBY are getting comics

Gray, what are Gen;Lock’s inspirations? Star Wars, Star Trek, Galactica, some Japanese shows like Giant Robo, Ultraman and Starblazer. Mecha-wise, early and modern Gundam, Full Metal Zero. A lot of cyberpunk like William Gibson’s novels. 

Chad takes the piss out of Gray for rambling about inspirations during a lightning round.

Miles, What keeps you wanting to write? "I love telling stories and at the end of the day I've come to realize it doesn't matter where you tell those stories but if you're given an opportunity to do it then you should take that chance cuz not everyone gets a chance.”

Ever miss your private lives? Most of the gang still find private time. To an extent yes, but the pros outweigh the cons.

What would your semblance be? Lindsay- summoning cats. Arryn never knows. Kara- something with money. Barb- Yang’s semblance. Kerry- the ability to have two different paths of thought at the same time without having anxiety. Miles- the power to take light energy and use them for flashbang attacks. Chad- some kind of sonic amplification. Gray- the power to put all the merch he bought in his luggage.

Would Prinny be in Death Battle? Chad doesn’t know who Prinny is. 

What’s the central theme of this volume? Nothing easy to talk about pre-release. “It’s part of a big lesson that needs to be learned by some people this season and hopefully you’ll learn it by the end too.” 

No ship questions. A pleasant surprise. Panel was quite dry, too much cutting and skipping and the first half hour was a complete chore. I’m also very disappointed to hear that Ilia’s not going, since her dynamic with Weiss could have been a highlight of the season in Atlas. 

So yeah. 4/10 panel, too many cuts.

14. What GOT death could you not bear to watch?

Honestly? I’m pretty good with character deaths until any kind of animal is involved. So I have to go with Vyserion & Rhaegal, Lady, Grey Wind, Summer, Shaggydog oh and all those poor horses who died in all the battles :(

16. What part of the GOT ending made you the happiest?

hahahaha happiest. Good one…not to be rude but like…it was trash from start to finish. I guess Ghost getting the pet that was promised made me happier? He’s a good boi that deserves the world. Also Sansa being Queen in the North was cool even though I didn’t agree with how she got there.

18.What’s your favorite GOT musical score/theme?

There’s so many!! Really love the targaryen, baratheon, tyrell themes. Reins of castamere is incredible too. Obviously all the jaime/brienne themes because otp.

20. Rate the GOT great houses in order from your favorite to least favorite.

1) Make some noise for my favorite house ever *claps like a fangirl that she is* House Tyrell of Highgarden—Growing Strong.

I’m still very much pissed that this iconic house is no more, but they’ll always be my no.1 Queen of Thorns and Margaery were my favorites. Their wit and ability to manipulate even the worst of the worst was just incredible to watch on screen. Also Lady Olenna’s barbs were the best thing ever!! Mace was also great for comedic relief . Anyway, they all are rolling in their graves because the Reach is in the hands of a cut throat. THE DISRECPEST TO TYRELLS *fuck you D&D*

2)House Martell of Sunspear—Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken.

Now I love this house in the books, the show completely missed the mark and all the potential surrounding Dorne. I truly love all the lore surrounding house Martell, Elia especially. The story of how only Dorne didn’t submit to Aegon or his dragons and stayed an independent kingdom is just so incredibly entrancing, for me personally. And in the show Dorne who fought for their freedom against freaking Targaryens and only joined the seven kingdoms by a political marriage that was useful to them just submitted to Bran’s rule? Sounds fake, but okaaay 

3) House Targaryen of Dragonstone—Fire and blood.

Three words: Mother of Dragons. Do I need to say more? She freaking brought back Dragons to the world. I loved her story until S8 and as much as people like to bash Dany these days saying she was always going to go batshit crazy I say you have a right to your opinion, but it’s wrong lol No it’s all in good fun, but I was truly looking forward to seeing a story about a Targaryen overcoming their house’s past and being a benevolent and just ruler but you know dumb & dumber said: sUbVeRt ExPeCtAtIoNs

4) House Lannister of Casterly Rock —Hear me roar.

Truly a fascinating house that once again(it’s becoming a theme as you guys can see) was destroyed by D&D. I stan my favorite Lannister- Jaime. His story arc was very compelling and had great potential up until S8, that is. Same could be said about Tyrion but he was lost Since S5. Cersei also had noting significant to do for the last two years even though earlier season depicted her as a great antagonist. She and Jaime deserved a better death. Rocks killed Lannisters of Casterly Rock…original, am I right?

5) House Stark of Winterfell —Winter is coming.

Love the Starks with all my heart and was happy they at least survived the last season unlike their parents and brothers.

6) House Greyjoy of Pyke —We do not sow.

Theon and Yara won me over in the later seasons. I remember crying so bad when Theon died in the battle of winterfell, but as I learned later on he was the lucky one. My boy collected his redemption arc and said sayonara bitches. Yara was a loyal bitch til the end to Daenerys and I love her even more for that. But she was supposed to be the Queen of Iron Islands and again she submits to freaking Bran? A Stark? A family that slaughtered her brothers in the rebellion? Sure Jan.

7) House Baratheon of Storm’s End—Ours is the Fury.

There’s only Gendry and he’s precious and the rightful Lord of Stormlands again so that I loved. Also Bobby B had his comical moments.

8) House Tully of Riverun & House Arryn of Eerie share this spot because honestly I don’t give af about them *sorry?*

‘Sunshine’

Yang could hardly believe her wedding day was finally here. Being fitted for tuxedos and tasting cakes and such had scarcely prepared her for the actual day. She fiddled with the suspenders that held her tuxedo pants in place. Her black tux and gold button-down made her look like the sharpest man in all of Remnant.

Even Ren didn't look this fly when he wore a tux.

Clad in her signature black and gold garb, she ventured out into the venue to greet some guests before everything got going.

She took in the sight of her sister, the Best Woman, looking breathtaking in a red and black dress with flailing tendrils that fell just above her knees.

"I bet Weiss will have a nosebleed when she sees you in that getup, Rubles!" She told her sister. Ruby smirked at the idea.

"That would almost make wearing this trash worth it!" Ruby complained. She was not one for playing Dress-Up, but this was her sister's big day.

"Speaking of the Nice Queen, where is my Second Best Woman?"

"She's fretting over the cakes, making sure the reception is on point, basically running around and being extra. Also, wouldn't I be your Maid of Honor and Weiss be Best Woman?"

"I guess that's technically correct, but Blakey and I aren't really about being technical! I didn't really have a male friend for the role, so I picked both of you! She had Sun to fill the Man of Whatever department, and Ilia stepped in so we'd each have two. Also, I bet she's trying to pick up chicks here. You know we have some pretty sexy friends, after all."

"Yang, you're the worst!" Ruby joked, Yang sticking her tongue out at her sister. "I bet you 20 Lien that she tries to take Velvet home!"

"Coco would KILL her! Well, she might let Ilia join them. I hear she's into some wild stuff. Hey, is that Arryn?" Yang looked at the entryway, and sure enough, she saw Arryn and Barbara come through the door. Their boyfriends filed in behind them.

"YANG! You look incredible!" Barbara complimented, hugging Yang tightly. "I bet Monty would be so proud of you guys!" Yang fell quiet for a moment at the mention of their lost friend.

"I think he would! He would also do some crazy bit in the middle of the wedding." Yang returned, she and Barb sharing a laugh.

"YANG!" Arryn cried as she threw one arm around Yang. "You're positively stunning. Now, where's my girl?"

"She's hiding out somewhere. She really believes in that whole 'bad luck to see each other' bit. If you can find Sun or Ilia, they should be able to lead you to Blake. So, is this the Bob I've heard so much about?" She asked, pointing toward the man on Arryn's arm.

"Yep, this is the luckiest man alive!" Arryn chuckled, Bob grinning and going to shake Yang's hand. She hugged him instead, surprising him.

"We hug in this family, Bobby! Also, I didn't want to crush your fingers with my cyber mitt!" She mused.

"Oh yeah, I forgot you're part cyborg!" He nicked, Yang rolling her eyes.

"Robot arm aside, I'm all woman, my dude! Ask Blake!" She returned. Arryn and Bob scoped the crowd to try and find someone on Blake's side of the wedding party.

"Hey, sis, Weiss has finally appeared!" Ruby called to Yang, Weiss waving before running off again.

"Sorry, no time for small talk! You look amazing, Yang! It's about time you guys are finally getting married!" Weiss yelled as she ran off to attend to something.

Meanwhile, in the bride's corner of the wedding...

"Sun, for the love of gods, PUT YOUR DAMNED CLOTHES ON!" Blake shrieked.

"The damned shirt won't button! His abs are too huge and amazing!" Neptune told her. Blake rolled her eyes.

"Okay, wear an undershirt and leave the button-down open. It's the only way unless you want someone's nose to bleed at the sight of all that muscle! There will be straight girls here, and we wouldn't want them to try and steal you from Neptune!" Neptune hopped into Sun's arms at that, hanging onto his neck.

"Straight girls can go to Hell! THIS IS MY MONKEY MAN!" Neptune yelled, swinging from his favorite man's neck.

"You people are horrible! How did I let you all into my wedding party?" Blake jokingly complained. There was a knock at the door, and Scarlet answered it.

"Hey, it's Arryn and her boyfriend. Are they both allowed in?" He asked her, brushing his hair away from his face. Blake nodded, and the couple entered the room.

"BLAKE! YOU LOOK BREATHTAKING!!" Arryn gasped at the sight of her dear friend. Blake's dress was an onyx black that flowed out in every direction.

"The best part about this dress? All the frilly junk detaches, and suddenly it's a party dress!" Blake bragged, tearing off the tail and grinning at the sound of the Velcro tearing away from her. Now her dress fell just above her knees with a slit going up her left leg. Sequins ran down the edges of the slit.

"Excellent!" Arryn cheered as Blake transformed back into a bride. "I'm so proud of you two! So when are Weiss and Ruby tying the knot?"

"Some time within the year, or so they say. Weiss has been pretty stingy with the details. She's supposed to have Team CFVY planning everything, and Ren is making their cakes."

"That should be delicious! Ren's an incredible chef!" The two of them chattered away for a few moments.

"ARRYN! I haven't seen you in ages!" She heard someone call. She turned around and Ilia had appeared, clad in a rainbow dress that came down to her thighs. Feathery tendrils traced from the bottom of the dress, and a boa covered her neck.

"ILIA!" Arryn cheered, running up to hug the lizard lady. "Are you hiding hickeys under that boa?"

"None of your business! But I haven't had a lady to bite my neck lately, I will say that." Amitola rolled her grey eyes at her own words.

"Ilia, you're going to upstage Yang and me, and Yang will probably kick your teeth in for it." Blake nicked. Ilia snickered.

"She can try! If I win the fight, would you marry me instead?"

"Not a chance! Single combat has no pull on my heart!" Blake retorted. A knock came at the door, bringing an end to their silly jokes.

It was Weiss at the door. "It's about time, you guys! Blake, your parents just arrived.

"Alright, everyone, let's go have a wedding!" Blake announced. The lot of them cleared out, and those in the wedding party took their places.

AND NOW HERE'S SOMETHING WE HOPE YOU'LL REALLY LIKE! Sorry, I've gotten to where I say that every time I write a wedding.

The two Best Women and the Man and Maid of Honor stood at the end of the aisle. Sun had needed to modify his getup, but his bright gold tuxedo looked stunning. Weiss wore a sky blue dress with a frayed skirt, a bright red sash tied around her waist.

Yang made her way down the aisle, Taiyang's arm around hers. "Congratulations, honey! My sunny little dragon is getting herself married today!" Tai thought he might start tearing up.

"Don't cry, Dad! You'll never stop!" Yang nicked as they parted ways.

Blake appeared, her mother and father on either side of her. The two of them walked their daughter down the aisle. Kali hugged Yang tightly when she and Blake parted. Ghira stood before Yang, and the two of them gave one another a tribal salute that Yang had learned from him before the wedding. The two crossed their arms as they smacked them into their chests.

Ghira smiled at his soon-to-be daughter-in-law and hugged her tightly.

The officiant of the ceremony, a horned faunus man, asked that Yang and Blake give their vows.

"Yang Xiao Long, a dragon of the sun. You are the fire that warms my heart and my skin. The light that has pierced the darkness I once carried with me. Your strength, in your heart and your muscles... oh gods, your muscles... has carried me more than I have ever deserved. With this ring and this cord, I ask you to light my way this day and all of my days." Blake recited, placing a ring on Yang's left hand on the second finger.

"It's a real shame it won't fit on my metal hand..." Yang joked, their witnesses laughing. Blake tied Yang's right hand with a black nylon cord. "Ooh, kinky!" Yang joked again. "Anyway, let me stop being silly!" Yang took a deep breath and began her own vows.

"Blake Belladonna, the poisonous flower of my eye. They make medicine from those flowers, and your medicine has made me well when I was suffering. You were the first and only one to leave me that ever actually came back, and you have been beside me since, almost like a shadow. With this ring and this cord, I ask you to be my shadow this day and all of my days." Yang recited, also placing a ring on Blake's finger. She tied her gold cord around Blake's right wrist.

The officiant took the loose ends of the cords and tied them together in an infinity knot.

"Blake Belladonna, do you take this woman as your spouse?"

"Without question, I most certainly do," Blake answered.

"And you, Yang Xiao Long, take this woman as your spouse?"

"If you believe in me, we'll find where we were meant to be. Now, who care's about tomorrow if today we are free? My answer's always YES, that I will always be with you!" Yang answered, reciting lyrics from a song. Ruby cheered quietly from beside her.

"I suppose that makes it official! Which name will be the surname?"

"Which sounds better, Yang Belladonna or Blake Xiao Long?" Yang asked aloud. "I like both! Let's use Belladonna Xiao Long!"

"Okay. Geeze that's a lot of syllables, but I now pronounce you as wife and wife! You may kiss the brides?" He announced. The two newlyweds kissed as their witnesses cheered. "I present to you all Mrs. and Mrs. Belladonna Xiao Long!"

The reception began shortly after, with tonnes of delicious foods and loads of great music. Velvet took some amazing snapshots, and everyone danced their legs off. Ruby won her bet with Yang, as Coco and Velvet did leave the party with Ilia.

Congratulations, Blake and Yang. You make an exceptional couple. \/\/\/\/\/ \/\/\/\/\/ \/\/\/\/\/

Day Eighteen: A VA Dressed As Their Character

This qualifies more as Formal Wear, but I made sure to have Arryn and Barbara creeping around in the background.

Have you entertained the possibility that Euron may not end up being a significant part of the story? No dragon binding, no wall breaking, no confirmed connection to Bloodraven, etc. Just a minor-ish (yet very interesting) character.

Everything about how GRRM has written Euron “Crow’s Eye” Greyjoy suggests that he is a very significant character indeed, someone to fear and take seriously. This is true whether you’re talking about the setup before we meet him...

“Euron Crowseye has no lack of cunning, though. I’ve heard men say terrible things of that one.”

Theon shifted his seat. “My uncle Euron has not been seen in the islands for close on two years. He may be dead.” If so, it might be for the best. Lord Balon’s eldest brother had never given up the Old Way, even for a day. His Silence, with its black sails and dark red hull, was infamous in every port from Ibben to Asshai, it was said.

“Euron Greyjoy is no man’s notion of a king, if half of what Theon said of him was true.”

Aeron was almost at the door when the maester cleared his throat, and said, “Euron Crow’s Eye sits the Seastone Chair.”

The Damphair turned. The hall had suddenly grown colder. The Crow’s Eye is half a world away. Balon sent him off two years ago, and swore that it would be his life if he returned. “Tell me,” he said hoarsely.

…the way he’s presented when we do meet him…

“We shall have no king but from the kingsmoot.” The Damphair stood. “No godless man—”

“—may sit the Seastone Chair, aye.” Euron glanced about the tent. “As it happens I have oft sat upon the Seastone Chair of late. It raises no objections.” His smiling eye was glittering. “Who knows more of gods than I? Horse gods and fire gods, gods made of gold with gemstone eyes, gods carved of cedar wood, gods chiseled into mountains, gods of empty air…I know them all. I have seen their peoples garland them with flowers, and shed the blood of goats and bulls and children in their names. And I have heard the prayers, in half a hundred tongues. Cure my withered leg, make the maiden love me, grant me a healthy son. Save me, succor me, make me wealthy…protect me! Protect me from mine enemies, protect me from the darkness, protect me from the crabs inside my belly, from the horselords, from the slavers, from the sellswords at my door. Protect me from the Silence.” He laughed. “Godless? Why, Aeron, I am the godliest man ever to raise sail! You serve one god, Damphair, but I have served ten thousand. From Ib to Asshai, when men see my sails, they pray.”

The priest raised a bony finger. “They pray to trees and golden idols and goat-headed abominations. False gods…”

“Just so,” said Euron, “and for that sin I kill them all. I spill their blood upon the sea and sow their screaming women with my seed. Their little gods cannot stop me, so plainly they are false gods. I am more devout than even you, Aeron. Perhaps it should be you who kneels to me for blessing.”

The Red Oarsman laughed loudly at that, and the others took their lead from him.

[Here’s GRRM’s pre-emptive strike against Euron skeptics] “Fools,” said the priest, “fools and thralls and blind men, that is what you are. Do you not see what stands before you?”

“A king,” said Quellon Humble.

The Damphair spat, and strode out into the night.

Sharp as a swordthrust, the sound of a horn split the air.

Bright and baneful was its voice, a shivering hot scream that made a man’s bones seem to thrum within him. The cry lingered in the damp sea air: aaaaRREEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

All eyes turned toward the sound. It was one of Euron’s mongrels winding the call, a monstrous man with a shaved head. Rings of gold and jade and jet glistened on his arms, and on his broad chest was tattooed some bird of prey, talons dripping blood.

aaaaRRREEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

The horn he blew was shiny, black, and twisted, and taller than a man as he held it with both hands. It was bound about with bands of red gold and dark steel, incised with ancient Valyrian glyphs that seemed to glow redly as the sound swelled.

aaaaaaaRRREEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

It was a terrible sound, a wail of pain and fury that seemed to burn the ears. Aeron Damphair covered his, and prayed for the Drowned God to raise a mighty wave and smash the horn to silence, yet still the shriek went on and on. It is the horn of hell, he wanted to scream, though no man would have heard him. The cheeks of the tattooed man were so puffed out they looked about to burst, and the muscles in his chest twitched in a way that it made it seem as if the bird were about to rip free of his flesh and take wing. And now the glyphs were burning brightly, every line and letter shimmering with white fire. On and on and on the sound went, echoing amongst the howling hills behind them and across the waters of Nagga’s Cradle to ring against the mountains of Great Wyk, on and on and on until it filled the whole wet world.

“Crow’s Eye, you call me. Well, who has a keener eye than the crow? After every battle the crows come in their hundreds and their thousands to feast upon the fallen. A crow can espy death from afar. And I say that all of Westeros is dying. Those who follow me will feast until the end of their days.

“We are the ironborn, and once we were conquerors. Our writ ran everywhere the sound of the waves was heard. My brother would have you be content with the cold and dismal north, my niece with even less…but I shall give you Lannisport. Highgarden. The Arbor. Oldtown. The riverlands and the Reach, the kingswood and the rainwood, Dorne and the marches, the Mountains of the Moon and the Vale of Arryn, Tarth and the Stepstones. I say we take it all! I say, we take Westeros.”

Euron seated himself and gave his cloak a twitch, so it covered his private parts. “I had forgotten what a small and noisy folk they are, my ironborn. I would bring them dragons, and they shout out for grapes.”

“Grapes are real. A man can gorge himself on grapes. Their juice is sweet, and they make wine. What do dragons make?”

“Woe.” The Crow’s Eye sipped from his silver cup.

“What do you want?”

“The world.” Firelight glimmered in Euron’s eye.

…or perhaps above all, the visions GRRM grants us of Euron’s eldritch soul he keeps hidden behind that eyepatch.

“Have you seen these others in your fires?” he asked, warily.

“Only their shadows,” Moqorro said. “One most of all. A tall and twisted thing with one black eye and ten long arms, sailing on a sea of blood.”

Beneath her coverlets she tossed and turned, dreaming that Hizdahr was kissing her…but his lips were blue and bruised, and when he thrust himself inside her, his manhood was cold as ice.

Clad head to heel in scale as dark as onyx, he sat upon a mound of blackened skulls as dwarfs capered around his feet and a forest burned behind him.  

“The bleeding star bespoke the end,” he said to Aeron. “These are the last days, when the world shall be broken and remade. A new god shall be born from the graves and charnel pits.”

Then Euron lifted a great horn to his lips and blew, and dragons and krakens and sphinxes came at his command and bowed before him. “Kneel, brother,” the Crow’s Eye commanded. “I am your king, I am your god. Worship me, and I will raise you up to be my priest.”

“Never. No godless man may sit the Seastone Chair!”

“Why would I want that hard black rock? Brother, look again and see where I am seated.”

Aeron Damphair looked. The mound of skulls was gone. Now it was metal underneath the Crow’s Eye: a great, tall, twisted seat of razor sharp iron, barbs and blades and broken swords, all dripping blood.

Impaled upon the longer spikes were the bodies of the gods. The Maiden was there and the Father and the Mother, the Warrior and Crone and Smith…even the Stranger. They hung side by side with all manner of queer foreign gods: the Great Shepherd and the Black Goat, three-headed Trios and the Pale Child Bakkalon, the Lord of Light and the butterfly god of Naath.

And there, swollen and green, half­-devoured by crabs, the Drowned God festered with the rest, seawater still dripping from his hair.

The dreams were even worse the second time. He saw the longships of the Ironborn adrift and burning on a boiling blood­-red sea. He saw his brother on the Iron Throne again, but Euron was no longer human. He seemed more squid than man, a monster fathered by a kraken of the deep, his face a mass of writhing tentacles. Beside him stood a shadow in woman’s form, long and tall and terrible, her hands alive with pale white fire. Dwarves capered for their amusement, male and female, naked and misshapen, locked in carnal embrace, biting and tearing at each other as Euron and his mate laughed and laughed and laughed…

Of course, I get that not everyone is gonna love this stuff like I do; creeping cosmic horror is very much my wheelhouse. But looking at all of the above, I cannot see how anyone can come to the conclusion that Euron is unimportant to the plot and themes of ASOIAF. I think part of the problem is that Euron is keeping his true intentions hidden from the Ironborn (besides Damphair, of course), and so some readers were fooled along with the captains and kings. But the truth was always out there, and it became undeniable after “The Forsaken,” in which the monster wearing the pirate suit emerges, fangs glistening, for his closeup. 

Urri shook his head. “Worms… worms await you, Aeron.”

When he laughed, his face sloughed off, and the priest saw that it was not Urri but Euron, the smiling eye hidden. He showed the world his blood eye now, dark and terrible.

Forgot to show the stuff I got from Rose City Comic Con and to really talk about it. Definitely a humble haul for me, considering I spent most of my money to get autographs, haha. (Honestly, if you’re going to artists alley, you def need like 1000 dollars just to get everything you have your sights set on, cos there is a LOTTA great artists that turn out for these bigger conventions). 

My friends got me some gifts along the way too, cos they're sweet. Total of three buttons: an Aizawa, a Reinhardt, and a Psyduck. (I had the RWBY ones already and put them on the hat for the con ‘cos I’m a filthy Bumbleby shipper), 5 prints (2 of my own) and one mini-print (someone at artist's alley gave me a cheap price for the Dragon Age print 'cos it was their display version and a little messed up, but eh). @cryingmanlytears got me the gengar hat before the con, and I love it a lot. I put my pin of Reinhardt on there. ;u;

I managed to get autographs from all the main ladies of RWBY, and I printed and brought in those two art pieces of my own for Arryn Zech and Barbara Dunkelman to sign and then gave copies for them for them to keep for themselves. They were all super duper sweet people and I got a lotta hugs and kind words from them. I started tearing up initially cos I have been a huge fan of RWBY since the show began (hell, I’ve been a huge fan of Monty’s since he made Haloid), and I’m a big supporter of the other work the crew does at Rooster Teeth as well, especially getting to see Lindsay on Achievement Hunter and Barbara’s “Always Open”. 

Lindsay saw I was getting a bit choked up and was basically like “I WILL HUG THE TEARS AWAY.” I honestly didn’t think she was stepping around her table for the hug at first cos I thought she was going to take a selfie with the person behind me. Lindsay Jones gives some fuckin’ A+ hugs everyone. Like a mama bear. She even said “I love you, Talena! We appreciate you so much!” in Ruby’s voice. Hearing your own name in your fave character’s voice is SO COOL. Then, just when I was about to move on for Kara to sign something, she was like “ONE FOR THE ROAD.” and called me back for another hug. As someone with little physical contact on the day-to-day, getting back to back hugs made me feel so warm and loved. I cannot thank that woman enough for being so welcoming.

Moving on, Kara Eberle IS A PRECIOUS CINNAMON ROLL. I have a lot of anxiety and certain vocal tones really pull anxiety out of me and calm me down, and her voice was definitely one of those kinds of voices. She speaks and it exudes “I care”. Needless to say, whatever tears I had going on, stopped instantly. She saw my ax necklace was horribly askew and even took the time to reach out to fix it for me. I jested that she was having a hard time fixing it cos I was sweaty and it probably fused to my neck, but she was like “You’re FINE.” and I flash-backed to Weiss saying that to Ruby and a little fangirl inside of me probably squealed and then died.

Arryn complemented my gengar hat and was like “My boyfriend wears the same one!” and I honestly wanted to make a “same hat!” meme joke but wasn’t sure she’d get it and didn’t end up saying it, haha. Arryn took the time to stop and read the Bumbleby comic I handed her to sign and I think she might have been trying to hide her shipper feels and stay lowkey, cos she went from a neutral face to having the biggest grin sneak up on her.  I think she really did like the comic though, because she asked me if she could put it up on her table for other people to see as they walked by, and I heartily agreed.

Then came Barb. Holy hell, that woman radiates like a goddamn sun in real life. It’s honestly no surprise why she was cast as Yang, because she just IS Yang. There is no doubt. When I handed her the Bumbleby comic to also sign, as well as the print of Yang by herself, Barb was like “HOLY COW, YOU DREW THIS? You’re super talented!” Both Arryn and Barb were happy to get gifts. I saw someone hand Lindsay a gift too and she was thrilled. Dudes, if anyone goes to see these ladies at some point, give them stuff. Even if you think it’s silly. They fucking adore gifts from fans. They’re so wholesome.

Anyway, the whole experience was very surreal. I love these people, and I don’t even know them in real life, but despite that, I know enough and can read a person’s energy enough to know they are good fuckin’ people, and are worth appreciating. It’s such a nice feeling that people you consider role models turn out to be just as nice as you imagine them to be. 

In conclusion to this rambling, I was pretty damn starstruck, haha. And thankful. So very thankful. See, I was in serious depression before I made the trip to Portland, and just making the time to go on this trip to visit my friends and see my role models made my depression completely disappear. If only for a moment, but still. The feeling is great.

What could RT be thinking putting BMBLB there while they just put two songs earlier for Blake and monkey-boy? Also, making Blake blush at monkey-boy's antics and having him as a date in the school dance and all that winking-flirting shiz. And now they're trying to push through with BB? Are they doing it for the views and for milking out from fans? That's just not cool. Building up BS and teasing BB now...unless you could prove me wrong here...?

well, to counter your first point, they didn’t put two songs earlier for Blake and Sun

Not Fall In Love With You wasn’t written for the show, it was a song Jeff wrote back in his boy band days that he just wanted to use (and the scene it’s used in you can barely hear it anyway), it’s a very, very generic, one-sided love song - i mean look at the lyrics of it and try to think of any time they would work for Blake/Sun; hell, try and make sense of it in the context of Sun’s character, he’s not exactly the type to say “You’re my PYT/My cherie amour”

Like Morning Follows Night, from what we’ve heard of it, while it’s about the two of them, isn’t a love song. it’s clearly following the same argument they had throughout volume 4, Blake haunted and chased by her past and Sun refusing to leave her alone and being dismissive of her past and her want for space. we’ve had about half the song so far and the word love isn’t even used once (it also contains the line ‘i won’t endanger one more friend’)

by comparison, the 30 seconds we’ve got so far of BMBLB makes it undeniably a love song and undeniably about Blake and Yang because they are the only Bumblebee actually mentioned in the show

Blake blushed at all of one antic, and that’s when he was pointing her out in front of a huge crowd - mild embarrassment and flattery are a reasonable explanation for that

date for the school dance? Blake specifically said she was technically going with him - because they were arriving together and she was throwing him a bone because he’d asked her before - but her first dance, with Yang, was spoken for

and the winking-flirting stuff was all one-sided on Sun’s part - but don’t forget, Yang has winked at and made flirty comments to Blake in the past too

there is very little build-up to Blake/Sun, it’s incredibly shallow (because Sun is an incredibly shallow character with the bare rudiments of a personality, minimal backstory and no motivations beyond ‘gravitate around Blake’), Sun spends most of their shared screen-time annoying her (and rightfully so because he keeps making fun of her and not respecting her space or privacy) and Blake’s made a point in the past that she wants to be seen for who she is, not what. Sun’s reasons for liking Blake are as follows, “she’s a Faunus, she’s pretty, she’s a good fighter” - these are all what reasons, and the one (1) comment he has made about her personality has been this: “Where’s Blake, she still being all Blakey?” - he frames her then bad temper, brought on by her issues and the sheer exhaustion caused by it, as a problem inherent to her personality, and something he clearly doesn’t like and doesn’t want to deal with, as he asks this in an expectant tone like he thinks someone on her team should have dealt with it already

Yang meanwhile clearly understands Blake on a level no other character is shown to, which is why she was the one to get through to her at her lowest point, and her compliments towards Blake once they get to know each other are about who Blake is - “I love it when you’re feisty!” “You’re never one to back down from a challenge”

Blake is also always serious when interacting with Sun, we don’tsee her silly side, where she joins in on the fun like we do when she’s around Yang - Sun’s goofing around tends to piss Blake off more, because it’s usually inappropriate to the moment and/or at someone elses expense

Blake and Yang have had numerous moments across the series, in each others company - they care deeply about one another and their narratives are now wholly intertwined by what Adam, Blake’s ex who Yang has numerous parallels (but ultimately contrasts) with, did to them. a scene that deliberately used the word ‘love’ when Adam was threatening Blake just before Yang appeared (and Yang was the one to run to Blake when she heard Blake was fighting the White Fang, Sun, meanwhile, was right there and didn’t react, so…), and is framed very much as ‘old flame vs new flame’. that the scenes are using similar story tools as the ones used with Pyrrha/Jaune (a trend across volumes 2 and 3, nearly every Pyrrha/Jaune scene happens close to a Blake/Yang scene or scenes - with parallels and similar themes in these scenes. for example, in Burning the Candle, the Blake/Yang scene has Yangopening up to Blake about her past and being supportive and encouraging of Blake, and then making a lighthearted, open offer of a dance at the end. these are paralleled in Pyrrha opening up about how lonely her fame has made her at the dance, Pyrrha offering support and encouragement to Jaune during their training session and when he’s about to go ask Weiss to the dance again, and then Jaune making the lighthearted joke about wearing a dress. both lighthearted joke promises are also kept - Blake takes Yang up on the offer of a dance, she didn’t have to, arriving at the dance would’ve been enough, but they danced, likewise, Jaune kept his word and put on a dress because Pyrrha didn’t get a date, and Pyrrha says that he didn’t have to) which absolutely had a canon basis

when Yang talks about what they lost in the battle of Beacon, it’s very clear that Blake leaving without explanation hit her the worst. when Blake brings up her team at the end of volume 4, she explicitly says she loves them more than she ever thought she could love anyone (and ‘anyone’ would include Sun there), and there’s hesitation and her voice cracks when she mentions Yang - her feelings there are clearly more complex than with the rest of her team

for what could be considered ‘build up’ for Blake/Sun, there is far more for Blake/Yang, and on top of that, Yang does not annoy Blake - Blake being around Yang also immediately marked a change in her character, she ‘brightened up’ and joined in the silliness of Yang and Ruby within 24 hours of their team being official, Yang breaks through to Blake in Burning the Candle when she’s in a very dark place (Gray Haddock, head of RT animation, voice of Roman and was a producer on the show, even said in the commentary for that episode that Yang is light and Blake is in shadows, and Yang lights up Blake’s darkness - which fits her name as Yang means ‘light’ or ‘sun’)

little sidenote - but they do have that perfect little yin-yang thing going on, Yang is light, Blake is darkness (Yang has blonde hair and purple eyes, Blake has black hair and yellow eyes), Yang has that sunny disposition but she hides a lot of hurt, Blake is dark and brooding but has a lighter, sillier side. the two also have symbols that resemble flames. they’re complementary, they have contrasts and similarities and they clicked from the moment Blake chose Yang as her partner in the forest. Blake and Sun don’t have that, because his name means ‘monkey’, his theming is that he’s a monkey (it’s even his symbol), and that’s it

and i don’t know if you’ve been paying attention to the cast and crew but, Blake/Yang comes up a lot with them - Arryn and Barb, their actresses, have always vocally supported the ship (and once on her youtube channel before she closed it, Arryn was asked if she preferred Adam or Sun as a romantic option for Blake and refused to pick because she doesn’t like either of them and she’s said before that Blake/Yang is the only one that makes sense to her), Gray Haddock when on the Fan Service podcast has said that it’s one of his favourite ships in all of media. there’s a t-shirt for the ship, there are numerous teases to it in Chibi (by comparison, Blake has interacted with Sun all of once in that show, and there was one gag where she mistook Jaune for Sun while being very disinterested in him), the advertising for Chibi season 2 had this, and in general, whenever ships for the show come up, Blake/Yang is almost always mentioned alongside Ren/Nora and Pyrrha/Jaune. by comparison, Blake/Sun rarely, if ever, comes up

so this ‘teasing’ doesn’t come out of nowhere with no buildup when they’ve been talking about it for years, but this is almost always dismissed as just ‘trolling the fans’. but RT don’t have a history of ‘trolling the fans’ with their scripted content - at least not in such a malicious way (because doing this just to pull the rug out would be queerbaiting at this point). but consider the opposite, consider that they might be trolling the fans in a different way and have heterobaited Blake/Sun. if you’re willing to believe they would tease Blake/Yang so hard just to “troll the fans” you have to be willing to believe they would do the same with Blake/Sun

from the beginning, RT have been talking about including LGBT characters in the show, that the LGBT characters are here already and as the show goes on and these characters discover more about themselves, this will come to light. doing this, representing not only a big chunk of their fanbase, but also their openly LGBT employees, cast and crew would be fantastic. last year in their other shows they had LGBT characters, Day 5 had Ally, one of the protagonists and driving force of half the plot, who was a lesbian. RvB14 had a two part story with two lesbians in leadership roles and another story which revealed that Epsilon-Church (one of the core characters of the entire franchise) is bisexual - representation matters and while they’ve dropped the ball before, they’re aware of it and they’re trying to take strides (even if those strides should be larger)

so i highly doubt it’d be for ‘views and milking it’ especially as the fanbase is already there and ready for it, and at this point, backing out would be queerbaiting and cause a veritable shitstorm, which they’re going to be keenly aware of

what we’ve heard from BMBLB is that it’s a love song from the perspective of one half of the ship. we’ve seen these before in Boop and Dream Come True, and those came into their own in later volumes, so in including BMBLB on the volume 4 soundtrack, they’re suggesting that, well, not only is Yang definitely LGBT, but that the ship will be coming in and developing romantically over the next couple volumes

  i love the bees a lot. like a lot a lot. but some of the shippers make me want to shy away from associating with the ship as much. sure, there’s a ton of people who do nothing but create good content and positively ship them, but there’s always the toxicity in any ship that, for some reason, is extremely prevalent in bumbleby specifically. it’s whatever if you voice an opinion on a ship you don’t like, but it’s a different story completely when you’re offending other people and attacking their ships because it’s not the bees and what they ship isn’t what you ship, as well as constantly harassing and bothering the voice actors with unnecessary hate and comments, especially when they’ve done nothing wrong but support the very ship you’re getting so defensive over.

honestly, all the voice actors, but especially barbara dunkleman and /especially/ arryn zech do not deserve that and shouldn’t have to argue with fans constantly about fictional characters that aren’t even in the mindset to be in relationships at this point in the storyline. it obviously makes them uncomfortable, and really, people shouldn’t drag them into it. as far as my respect for the voice actors go, i’m surprised that both arryn and barb even deal with this kind of behavior and still ship bumbleby as much as they do. from what i’ve seen of the recent videos including barb and the bees, she’s actually kind of distanced herself from publicizing her love for the ship. sure, she still makes jokes about yang’s vibrating arm and shows off bumbleby pictures on her desk, but it’s evident that she isn’t as enthusiastic about publicly showing her support for it as she used to be. hell, both her and arryn have admitted to not reading as much fanfiction, whether or not that’s the fault of their lives becoming busier, or just because the fndm is scaring them away from it. whenever barbara is asked a question about it, she answers with a very curt statement rather than a passionate or even joking response. i’m sure this is just a result of the stress most of the arguments over blacksun and bumbleby and, well, the fndm in general, which, really, is the opposite of what anyone in the community wants, and will, unfortunately, continue if they involve real people in fictional relationship discord. voice acting is supposed to be a fun experience for all the rwby cast members, and i’m sure most of them would say that seeing the fandom grow and interact in real life and online is one of their best experiences. i don’t see why anyone would want them to regret saying that.

arryn is very vocal about the comments she gets, and maybe that’s why i personally believe that she’s more publicly involved with bumbleby than barb is. of course, barb occasionally likes bee pictures on twitter and it makes me super happy to see her enjoy what she likes without being attacked for it, but then again, i rarely see barb argue with random people she doesn’t know. not that there’s anything wrong with arryn rightfully defending herself from people she shouldn’t have to argue with in the first place. arryn’s twitter is the breeding ground for toxic and stubborn shippers, even though she’s precious and apologizes for shit she doesn’t even start, but, who’s to say barb gets less hate? she is rt’s social media manager, after all. she must see everything and know about every discourse. she just chooses to not comment and ignore it for the sake of whatever small drop of peace remains in the fndm. it’s horrible that she has to see it. arryn’s hate must shatter barbara’s heart as well, for the fan base she loves the most to attack one of her closest friends.

while attacking that blacksun shipper or monochrome shipper may seem like the best choice of action, really think hard before you even do it. sure, it’ll inevitably hurt the person and ship you’re attacking, but does it really make you a better person than them? will that really make bumbleby any more canon? the same goes for anyone attacking people who ship the bees. additionally, leave the voice actors out of any ship drama, it just makes them uncomfortable and want nothing to do with the ship and the fndm in general, which, i’m sure is the opposite of what anyone wants.

The four RWBY girls alongside Michael Jones and Vic Mignonga had a panel on July 14th at Florida Supercon. 

Panel finally starts after five minutes and a tangent about Titanic. Michael does a runway walk while people queue up for questions, Vic beatboxes for him.

Would the RWBY girls say that their friendship is as close as RWBY’s friendship? A: Basically, yes. Lindsay notes that she’s more like Weiss when talking with Kara and Kara is more like Ruby in that Lindsay constantly dunks on Kara. Arryn notes that Blake never talks to Ruby, so she’s got that over Blake.

Of all the characters in RWBY, which would you like to see development for? Also can I have a hug? A: Hugs are promised at the booth after the panel. Arryn: “I will touch you so hard.. in the most appropriate way possible”. As for the question, Lindsay would like to see more of Neo. Kara says Mama Schnee. Arryn says Zwei. Barbara says that she’d love to see Ruby get some development. “Out of all the main cast, we have yet to learn more about her.” Vic goes with Oscar, partly for the selfish reason of getting to hang out with Arron Dismuke (Oscar’s voice actor). “He’s my little baby brother who’s now 7′4, and he went from ‘brother!’ to ‘BROTHER.’” Michael chooses Neptune.

How is everyone today? A: Great! Q: In between all the voice acting stuff, do you find the personal time to do what you want? A: Lindsay: “I mean, we had a kid, so... yeah.” Barbara notes that recording for RWBY and other RT Animation shows is just something that takes an hour a week. Arryn notes that since acting is her full-time job, she doesn’t exactly like having downtime. “Please give me a job!” Vic stabs the viewer in the heart by saying “I’m doing what I want right now.” 

Does your voice ever get tired out, especially among the people who shift from Achievement Hunter to RWBY? A: Lindsay notes the big difference in going from AH to RWBY in that “Achievement Hunter is... Achievement Hunter and RWBY is family friendly!” She goes on to say that the most exhausting thing is ‘efforts’ or battle sounds. Ruby’s voice is difficult when it comes to crying and yelling. Michael admits he takes horrible care of his voice- other VAs have special teas and honeys to calm their throats down, but when Michael’s not doing VA work he’s usually screaming. Sun is based on Michael’s normal voice and as a consequence, he’s pretty hard to do if Michael is just out of a Let’s Play. Vic notes you can damage your voice from over-usage and that it’s important to know when to stop.

Would you rather ship Jaune with Pyrrha, Weiss (Kara raises her hand) or Ruby? A: Lindsay: “Let’s remove that third one from the equation. Ruby’s in a relationship with herself right now.” Barb: “I would like to see some Jaune/Sun.” Arryn: “Sun’s in love with Blake.” Michael jokingly laments that “volume after volume,” Sun’s been doing his best for Blake. Arryn more seriously says that “Jaune needs to focus on himself. He had his chance with a girl and he screwed it up.” Arryn then notes that Blake also needs to do some introspection. 

If RWBY fought Sun and Qrow, who’d come out on top? A: Lindsay isn’t sure Qrow would go all out against Ruby, even if it was a training match. Arryn and Lindsay both consciously snub Yang. (Lindsay: “Would Qrow really fight his lovely niece?” Arryn: “The one he’s so clearly obsessed with? I’m sorry, who are you again Yang?”) They pretty much all agree that Qrow’s Semblance would sabotage Team Drunken Monkey. Michael says Sun would hang back and let Qrow figure it out.

Vic, how did you come up with Qrow’s voice? The girls do Qrow impressions of varying quality. Vic shares a story of how he got into RWBY; at a panel in Perth back in 2014, Lindsay and Michael shared some footage of RWBY that got Vic hooked. As far as the voice, they sent him some test images of Qrow and some lines that he recorded in LA and sent to them. He did a few different voices, they picked one and the rest is history. Most of the rest of the group used something close to their natural voice. Barbara initially had a higher pitch for Yang but she toned it down. Arryn uses the same voice but changes her speech pattern. Lindsay based Ruby’s squeak on her own self-deprecating jokes about being the chubby kid. Ruby’s Volume 1 voice was because they weren’t sure how innocent Ruby was supposed to be. Michael says Sun’s voice nowadays is based on a surfer bro without the accent. There’s another bit of teasing for the Black Sun fans when Michael laments that Blake keeps shooting Sun down (”He’s trying though!”) and Arryn bemoans how oblivious Blake is. Barbara tries to fit in a Bumblebee joke about her loving Yang. 

Q: Did Ruby have a goth phase? Lindsay notes that Ruby is now sixteen as of Volume 5 (Arryn wonders if this means that Blake’s finally eighteen). Lindsay jokes that Ruby likes going to Fall Out Boy concerts. Arryn once had black hair with red tips like Ruby.

What weapons would the show be able to come up besides what’s already been seen? A: Arryn: “Well the show isn’t capable of ideas.” The question was meant to be “What kind of weapons would you come up with for a new character?” Barbara says a “gun-gun,” a gun that shoots guns. Vic: “I like to keep it simple. What I do is I take a bottle, and I break it. And then I cut you.” Arryn would love to see some kind of fan weapon. Kara: “What about a frisbee?” Michael likes the idea of a game controller that turns into a whip. The fan also has a statement that Blake isn’t the only black cat he knows that’s completely oblivious to love (Adrian from Miraculous Ladybug)

What does RWBY mean to you? Barb: “It means Ruby, Weiss, Blake, Yang.” Vic: “Can we change it to QRWBY?” Arryn talks about how much RWBY changed her life and let her find her dream job. Kara: “It’s been amazing, I have no words.” 

A Ruby cosplayer made bracelets for RWY. Arryn got hers on-stage. Q: Any advice for anyone who wants to get into voice acting? A: Lindsay says getting into VA work is a little bit of luck, but it comes down to who you know and how you network with people. Fan dubs are a great jumping off point since directors keep up with that. Yuri Lowenthal (Merucry Black) and his wife Tara Platt (Kali) have a three-part series on Youtube that covers how to make a great demo reel as a voice actor. Vic says to take any chance you can to develop your skills. Most of the actors he knows didn’t start as voice actors, they just performed wherever they could. Basically, never say no to any acting gig, get into community theater and go to acting school. “One thing you need more than talent, is a thick skin.” 

If you guys could switch characters with someone here who would it be? A: Michael: “I’M YANG!” Lindsay and Weiss would swap. Arryn would be Sun or Yang. Barb would do Qrow. Vic in his Qrow voice: “I’m Weiss. I drink a lot.” Lindsay: Like mother like daughter! Vic at the end of the question: “I’d like to play Winter so I can lose to myself in a fight!”

How do you guys get into character? Arryn: “Don’t really have to do anything any more.” Kara watches the most recent episodes to get into Weiss’s mindset. She also records in heels since it helps her posture, unless it’s a fight scene. For Chibi/Volume 1-3 Yang, Barbara would cause chaos and build her energy up, but for Volume 4/5, she’d wear a big hoodie like “emo yang.” Lindsay finds a theme song for her characters. For Ruby she uses anime OPs like Lucky Star (Beacon) or Red Like Roses Part 2 (Volume 4-5 Ruby). Michael runs in circles to build up energy for Sun, if he plays Max from Camp Camp he starts swearing up a storm. When he’s driving in he’ll shout along with songs on the radio.

Michael, favorite character that’s not Sun? Winter. 

Who can do the best robot dance? Barbara.
