Something weird I have noticed in the CRK fandom when it comes to ships ESPECIALLY Purelily

I recently saw a tweet on twitter talking about Elderlily and ShadowVanilla on how people should give new ships a shot instead of shooting down them down instantly which IS a valid point BUT the problem starts when they assert the fact that these two ships hold more "merit" and "intimacy" than "other ships" (which in comment section they directly agree it's aimed at Purelily)

This is a HUGE problem I see both in the Elderlily fanbase + ShadowVanilla fanbase. The sheer hate for Purelily.

Like have a look:

Pure Hatred and unwillingness to accept that opinions can co-exist.

Unwilling to see reason when tried to be shown. Only answering in hatred.

From starting with generalising Purelily shippers to accusing all Purelily shippers to misinterpret/misrepresent/mischaracterisation PV and WL to accusations of the entire fanbase being bigoted, homophobic, misogynistic or accusing the entire fanbase of being bad including whataboutism posts stating "oh yeah? I wonder which shipper base sent actual death threats and doxxed someone?"

For the record, Im gonna say yes, a few people from specifically the purelily base have done these BUT generalising the entire shipping community as bad and labelling them as problematic is NOT okay.

THE ACTIONS OF ONE HORRIBLE PERSON DOESN'T DEFINE THE ENTIRE FANBASE!

Misrepresentation/Mischaracterisation/Misinterpretation of characters have happened in ALL of CRK shipping communities. That very much includes ShadowVanilla and Elderlily.

So accusing one fanbase of doing those and pretending that it doesn't exist in your space is kinda hypocritical I believe?

No fanbase is exempt from controversy. Every shipping space has had atleast ONE problematic individual (Eg: N*zi ShadowVanilla controversy from Twitter) but now if I start saying "*gasp* I wonder which base drew those horrific things?" Would it make any sense? No. Cuz one person doesn't define an entire fanbase.

So let's make one thing clear, none of the shipping communities are "pure" or "innocent" of anything. All of them have problems and individuals with issues depending on how far you're willing to dig.

So accusing a single shipping community of being horrible while saying others are not is not okay.

Not all ShadowVanilla and Elderlily shippers are good people, same as Purelily shippers.

Which brings me to the point, "It's 2025, grow tf up and stop shipping purelily" mentality which also brings me to my original point lol

Their crime? Shipping purelily.

But this is the great evidence on how all of these shippers aren't angels. They are the same people accusing Purelily shippers and the ship itself as being horrible.

What does year/time have anything to say about what you ship? I see this comment thrown across very frequently in the fandom which does confuse me quite a lot but seriously um why? Is there some sort of subscription that's getting over in these recent years which denies me the right to enjoy something niche? Or I MUST ship what the popular ship is atm?

Just why....? Where does this mentality come from?

More importantly, why does one ship has to be "superior" or have to had more "merit" than the other?

Why can't we simply accept our differences in preferences and move on?

Like...I personally don't ship mutual ShadowVanilla, I find the one sided part more compelling but that doesn't mean I will say it's "better" than the mutual one. I can appreciate the mutual one too. Same for Elderlily. I see it as platonic, a familial sort of relationship between a Mentor and Mentee or yes I'm gonna say it Father Daughter.

Personally, I find their age difference extremely uncomfortable which is why the moment I learnt this guy was older than her ancestor's ancestors, I shipped it as platonic. Same for ShadowVanilla cuz age is a factor for me personally but I won't blame others who look past it cuz firstly these are fictional characters and secondly, all of them are immortals so I can understand it although I find it uncomfortable myself.

But even with that, I would NEVER say that Purelily is "superior", has "more merit", better "intimate writing" than said ships irrespective of if they are popular/canon or not.

If you ask for respect towards your shipping preferences, the least you can do is GIVE that respect to others as well. If you don't, then how come you keep the expectation that your opinion will get respected when you can't peacefully co-exist with another part of the fandom who may hold different views than you?

In simpler words, I kinda find it highly disrespectful and hypocritical that some people out here can't keep themselves from attacking others for shipping things differently than them? Like...why?

Why can't we all ship whatever we want instead of shooting down each other's ships and calling one more superior/inferior than the other?

Like for me as an example, I don't like a lot of ships but I either don't share my opinion on it or tend to ignore it instead of going "omg MY ship better! HUH HOW DARE YOU SAY MY SHIP IS BAD"

At the end, Shipping is subjective and we're all here to have fun so instead of playing the blame game on who is worse, who has done more horrible things, why can't we simply focus on the positives?

All ships have merits and demerits. All of them have issues. Heck, even the characters aren't perfect and they also have a plethora of issues.

WL isnt a perfect person, she's morally grey and a highly complex character. PV isn't a baby or a simp who gets jealous everytime someone breaths in WL's direction. EF isn't obsessed with WL as people in the fanbase make him to be. Just like PV, he chose his job over following WL and even when he knew he had a choice to revive her, He didn't instead he kept guarding the tree. SM isn't a good person and has caused several wars, genocides, torture and murder.

NONE of them are as perfect as people make them to be. NONE of the fanbases if considered in majority truly get them.

So it really makes zero sense when ppl say "PV should stay the hell away from WL", "WL is getting between them!"

People really need to stop objectifying these characters just cuz they don't fit their shipping preferences/agendas.

All of these characters and their ships have certain merits and demerits to them so why must we say that one is better than the other?

Why can't we all enjoy what we simply like?

Why can't we just agree to disagree instead of shitting on other's tastes?

Why must ONE particular shipping fandom get the brunt of it?

So tldr, I just wanna say, While it is true, people shouldn't shoot down new things without even giving it a shot but that doesn't mean the new thing is "superior" than the old thing suddenly just cuz one likes it more. If you find it great, that's fine but Idt anyone has the right to say that one thing is more inferior than the other.

Please give the respect to others that you expect. If you get insanely defensive about your own ship but shit on other's shipping preferences then expect to get that back.

You can't be like "Nooooooo don't say bad about my ship! You're a hater" and then be like "damn your taste in shipping SUCKS. This ship is so trash. MY ship is SOOOOO much better :)"

Sorry for this rant. I just find the entire situation of the fandom highly frustrating.

I'm going to break my very strict format for once because I need your help. For the past 9 years, the irl human behind this blog has been involved in the effort to save a museum from incompetent and money hungry executives.

The museum is filled with precious objects, telling the story of the history of technology, and how it relates to art and society.

Many of these are objects are large, but delicate and have been in place for over 30 years.

No one within the museum's community trusts the CEO, who was appointed by a hostile former government, and prefers renting out museum spaces for business functions over educating the public.

In a few days, the museum is set to close down for renovations. Yet none of the staff or volunteers have been given any clear details about these plans. All we know is displays which have inspired generations will be torn down, likely never to be restored.

franziska has always been a grown-up for as long as she can remember, already spitting out coherent and precise sentences without a single stutter at three years old. becoming a prosecutor at thirteen. cooperating with interpol at nineteen.

her title of being a prodigy is far from a lie, as she's got all the accolades and achievements to back up the title.

her father's abuse may have not been flashy or outlandish, but it was definitely all-encompassing within the von karma household. it was cold and quiet, and demanded so much. the von karma name was so high and prestigious, that to prove yourself to be one—you'd have to sacrifice your childhood and other desires away to achieve whatever 'perfection' meant to him.

even if it wasn't as 'extreme' as the word abuse seems to be, it was still abuse. franziska was groomed into being nothing but a perfect prodigy, a perfect prosecutor, a perfect von karma. she knows nothing else other than this endless road towards an empty promise of perfection.

at thirteen, she still idolized her father for being such a perfect prosecutor who conducted perfect investigations which lead to perfect trials. yet, she knew that there was something off in the way he'd not-so-subtly berate her brother, or simply ignore her. it is still unknown if he ever attended her first prosecuting trial or not.

to be a prosecutor at thirteen is no easy feat, to even pass the bar at twelve is ludicrous. she had no time to indulge in childish desires, for all she was taught to devote herself towards was perfection.

to be a prosecutor at thirteen, and a girl at that, may have even been so dangerous for her. she's just a kid. she's a hypervigilant and hyperindependent kid, yes, but everything still feels heavier when you're a kid. in a space that is implied to be heavily male-dominated, what on earth was her father thinking of—just letting her already become one at an age where she still needed protecting and nurturing?

thus, she's not normal. she was never normal, nor was she ever bound to be normal with her dysfunctional upbringing. she defends herself with a riding crop or a whip, and uses it as an outlet to lash out—to intimidate, or to simply make people listen to her. she won't beg, so she'll use any other means necessary to be taken seriously by her older, predominantly male colleagues. she'll be like fire, bright, sparks going off in every direction—hard to ignore.

something shifts within her over the years of her career before her hard-earned victory streak comes to an end, why does she come for revenge only for her brother? she never came to america to find closure, or even 'avenge' her father who she idolized for as long as she remembers. perhaps she had already suspected this. perhaps it didn't hurt as much as she thought it would.

the von karma name will forever be tainted by the sins commited by her blood that she has to carry on her back, yet not once has she ever been ashamed of her name. the von karma name isn't just her father's, it is also hers. and only she can wear her name with pride, and prove to the world what being a von karma really meant.

she is her father's daughter, and she'll die her father's daughter. the matching bullet wound on her shoulder is a testament to that. his blood is not something she can easily wipe off her being, for he is seen in even the smallest of actions she makes. she is a shattered mirror, where parts of him still illuminates through her reflection—yet doesn't make up the full image of who franziska von karma truly is.

the von karma's illusion of 'perfection' is shattered, and what else is there to be other than that? it's only for her and her brother to find out now that the name is all theirs, engraved onto their hearts. reclaimed.

to say people withholding their vote in America aren't 'pragmatic' enough is so dismissive. as a fellow European like idk what I would've done either if I was an American.

Otherwise I would be sorry to be dismissive but in this situation I think it is completely acceptable, if not necessary, to vote for the lesser evil. Voting is not about your inner true values, it is about society, and especially in the American setting where you essentially have only two options, you need to be able to make hard decisions. If you're seriously indicating that on the whole Harris is bad as Trump, you need to take a cold hard look at the reality of the matters at hand. Harris is not ideal, and it hurts to vote for her especially when you think about Gaza, but Trump is a fascist and his supporters in the Republican party are dangerous to democracy and human rights. This is not a situation where you get to opt out. Not voting is a vote for Trump.

I thought about something the other day which I nearly wrote but I don't have the patience for- what if Mobei had a sudden epithany while snooping qinghua's house? cause obv hes gonna snoop. sqh is mad sus, and mobei has trust issues with his trust issues. but it suddenly occurs to him that the bed that he constantly steals from his little human is very much rather. luxurious. The mattress is thick and expensive, and sqh rotates and flips it frequently so it doesnt get lumpy. it has a topper(1)

(2) with cooling talismans all over it to make it a good temp for mobei any time he decides to sleep in it. the sheets are silk, soft, and light. they're in his colours. his shades. it's a huge bed- long enough for mobei to lay down fully stretched out and still have room. theres countless pillows made of whatever is best for mobei's hair. they're piled up and spread out in a decadance fit for royalty. its always clean. it always smells like him. hes never seen qinghua in it once.

(3) and surely, he must use it, right? it's still his bed, no matter how mobei frames it. But he knows what sqh smells like, and that scent has never been anywhere but in the fleeting touch of someone who changed the sheets. there's never been a lingering warmth from his humans body on the mattress. its the most luxurious, extravagant, expensive thing sqh owns. its not his. looking around the bedroom- is this his either? can he see anything that he might say with confidence is the cultivators?

(4) the answer is no. There's peak lord things in here, yes, but by the nature of being a spy, that's mobeis as well. So he looks- where does sqh sleep, if not a bed that (should? could?) be his own. The answer appears to be a cheap, small little daybed. It's uncomfortable. Mobei knows how big his human is, and this wouldn't fit him well. It's made well enough, but next to the actual bed in the room? It's a grade up from the floor. If Mobei laid on it he'd be off of it by his hips.

(5) honestly its not even good as a chair. It's uneven and kinda lumpy. There's a vague pillow- flat and showing signs of being folded often. A blanket that looks more like a repurposed curtain. It it bad so sqh doesn't lose it to mobei's wants? or worse, is it what he feels like he deserves? He already knew qinghua wasn't one to spend on himself but, he didn't think it was a possible fear of having it stolen from him. Does he have anything of his own worth having at all? Mobei doesn't know.

(6) anyway this obv leads into a comedy of errors where mobei is like. "qinghua. get into bed." and the man positively bluescreens because ??? literally how is he supposed to take that. and when he sorta makes a movement to just lay down on the day bed mobei is like. do you even fucking have any night clothes or do you just sleep like that. get night clothes. get into my bed. you're being cringe. my king with all respect due; crack? is it crack that you smoke? ))

the ossuary arena

after seeing it unloaded in Ghil Dirthalen's video, the arena has been preying on my mind. finally, after spending far too long in photo mode, I managed to get it loaded. this will be a long post explaining where to find it in game and how to get it to load (or what worked for me at least) with pictures.

(as a note, this was found on pc using the better photo mode mod by aether)

The original entrance was in the Lower Inner Cells area through a now covered/filled archway flanked by two statues. Having found a few unused areas in Veilguard before, it seems to be the done thing to fill the gap with rubble and random archways smooshed together.

If you go through the wall here it will be unloaded.

You'll be able to see some details but it will mostly be wonky rocks and lava so I'd recommend continuing on through to the Blood Vault.

When in the blood vault, I went into the south east room before going into photo mode but it might work from elsewhere in there. Face your rook south-west if you're bad at remembering directions (like me), go into photo mode. Still with your camera facing south-west, move up to the top of the tower, then forward in that south-westerly direction and you should come across something that looks like this:

Congrats! this is the arena! go forth and explore to your heart's content!

For those who reach this, I took pictures of the area as best I could as if the original entrance in the lower cells was open. So, going through that original gold archway, flanked by two statues, you'd be greeted with this:

Continuing down these stairs and around the corner at the bottom, this is what you would find:

Down on the left side, just out of frame in the picture above, there is a small archway in the wall that leads to another room with tables/alters of some kind, blood splatters and rubble on the floor, and bookshelves across the back wall:

Going back into the main area, we'll go up that staircase on the right, follow it up and down the ramp on the other side into the actual arena:

This is it! I'll include some random images at the bottom of this post of different angles and other bots and bobs but yeah, here's that unreachable arena in the Ossuray.

If I had to guess, I'd say this was meant to be a dragon fight, especially given this concept art by Albert Urmanov. Even though we didn't get the actual fight, I'm glad we have this at least.
