It feels like Donnie always has a bundle of nerves. While Leo seems to have a more chill attitude. At least on the outside.

So I kind of write them like that.

One example I can think of on top of my head is Mant Unhappy Reminders.

Where Leo says to everyone to trust him, but it seems to the others that he is not taking it seriously. But had a plan, but does not communicate it.

Comparatively, when Donnie faced the Shredder, at least in the stadium. He was the only one who was shaking like a leaf. And teeth chattering.

He had a moment when he said “Eat science,” scene. But when that didn't work, he kind of just started having a breakdown and crying. And such.

Also, when the Shredder returns, I think Donnie might have froze.

when shredder broke his tech his first instinct was to scream and flee!! honestly i cant tell if his tech-bo activated on its own or not but regardless that was what saved his life and he didn't expect it to, and pretty much the SECOND shredder gets knocked away from him he collapses. im also thinking about minotaur maze when his first instinct is to scream for help repeatedly when he's in a life-or-death situation, its very telling

(also actually when people do post many unhappy returns fics nobody ever acknowledges that donnie also got the SHIT beaten out of him in end game when the others didnt because he was holding off draxum from the front??? like he's visibly super fucked up afterwards??? guys you could use this if youre treating their injuries realistically anyway, especially with the added angst of him having to fight all day after even though he was already pretty banged up)

donnie is VERY vocal when he's afraid and his confidence is very easily shaken when he fails on the field, i think he's shown to have to fall down and just breathe through it after close calls when the others dont. he's very jumpy, unexpected loud noises freak him out, he freezes when he's out of immediate danger etc etc. he's not someone who hides it while leo usually does. leo feels like he has to be strong for his family, while donnie doesnt.

like lol leo locks tf in and focuses on the field when things get life-or-death (also very apparent in the fight with the kraang, where despite being under the threat of death he's focused enough to make split-second decisions, the line about missing on purpose!!) and donnie panic and freaks out LMAO (jumping in front of mikey to take the hit was completely instinctual by contrast! if he had leo's kind of focus he probably would have made something a lot more structured than that split second shield; donnie's ninpo reflects it well, he needs time to prepare before he jumps in while leo can think quickly)

With all due respect, I greatly disagree. I wasn't going to say anything decisive about this 'epilogue debacle' because I'm honestly tired of everything I've gone through for the past few years... But when someone directly uses my post like this, I can't just say nothing... Firstly, my post was made half-jokingly—so there's no need to take things this seriously. Not in the sense that everyone's feelings aren't valid—but in the sense that I know BakuDeku and ItaFushi's situations aren't the same. No two ships are exactly identical—no matter their shared parallels and tropes. Likewise, UraDeku and Yuji x Ozawa aren't the same either. I was merely drawing a parallel between things because certain elements are comparable. I believe that shipping is a very personal matter—but when engaging in discourse with others, it's important to take a step back sometimes. I know this is easier to say than to do at times.

-> The treatment of M/F ships compared to M/M ships: The handling of M/F ships in comparison to M/M ships is incomparable—particularly in publications that are highly restrictive, such as Shounen Jump. While a casual yet suggestive conversation or simple gestures like a simple handhold can be interpreted as subtle confirmation for a M/M ship—the same cannot be said for a M/F ship. You can undoubtedly use such instances to support the foundation of an M/F ship—but declaring it canon, in my opinion, is a little presumptuous. There is nothing barring a shounen mangaka from clearly confirming a M/F ship. While social prejudice, censorship, and management would undoubtedly impede a mangaka from confirming an M/M ship. That is why I find it somewhat distasteful that people are claiming UraDeku is canon when there wasn't a concrete confirmation. As biased as I am... We all know that if the roles were reversed, many UraDeku shippers would be rioting if BakuDeku shippers called the ship canon because of a conversation and "silly dap-up"—despite the added context of BakuDeku being an M/M ship in a shounen manga.

-> Why I think BakuDeku and ItaFushi are comparable in this context: I went slightly off-topic, but ultimately it boils down to the fact the events of both epilogues were used by part of the fandom to taunt and ridicule both BakuDeku and ItaFushi shippers. At least that is what has been going on within the circles I run in. Generally, BakuDeku shippers have been getting it far worse though, but since when hasn't it been like this? While I love BakuDeku and ItaFushi with all my heart, I didn't have much faith in either ship being outright confirmed given that BNHA and JJK are serialised in Shounen Jump. The best we could ever hope for was an implied ending with no confirmed ships. The same cannot be said for M/F ships like UraDeku and Yuji x Ozawa. It is well acknowledged that shounen manga integrates bromance aspects to appeal to audiences who support M/M pairings, thereby bolstering merchandise sales. So it will remain unknown whether the symbolism encircling BakuDeku and ItaFushi was intentional or not. Nonetheless, I firmly believe that the decision to refrain from overtly confirming UraDeku and Yuji x Ozawa was deliberate. Given that, no one at Shounen Jump could or would prevent either Horikoshi or Gege from making an M/F pairing canon.

-> In Conclusion: Despite everything I said, in no way am I saying that people who like ItaFushi have to like BakuDeku and vice versa... But their situations presently are undoubtedly comparable. While I can't speak for all BakuDeku shippers, most of us were civil with other shippers despite having endured years of harassment. Most of us wanted the series to end with no official ships so that everyone could be happy. Yet many UraDeku shippers used the epilogue to harass and taunt BakuDeku shippers. I've started to see the same thing happen in the JJK fandom, albeit to a lesser extent. So naturally, many BakuDeku and ItaFushi shippers have gotten frustrated and have expressed themselves in creative ways. Ultimately, I'm not saying all UraDeku and Yuji x Ozawa shippers are bad people—just as I know that not all BakuDeku and ItaFushi shippers are good people. However, we've been through a lot—so please be more mindful and patient with us.

If I had a nickel for every time almost half the fandom called a ship canon based off of a casual conversation in a shounen manga's epilogue, I'd have 2 nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice…

It's officially New years for me here! I am not the best at words, but I'm thankful for the support that I've received for the short amount of time that I've started posting art more often.

What started off as me wanting to just Archive some art I'm proud of snowballed to so many memories that I'll look back fondly to, so many silly ideas that breached containment that I remember seeing people do (Like the draw your oc reacting to their fave card that me and addie just talked about as a joke, and the Shroompocalypse that was just meant to be an Jade stealing people's yume joke)

People getting into Queen of the Damned is allowing me to live out my teen years so much because of all the reels and pictures and such of it, after IWTV the series came out, as back then we pretty much got ziltch in that regard. I had to settle on using Stuarts Lestat as Myrnin in anything I wrote as his Lestat was a single photo that came up when searching for how "Myrnin really looks", relating to the description of Myrnin in the books. And that's how I found out about the Immortal Universe at about 14. And everyone fighting me that his Lestat was bad and so he didn't seem to have the place in the fandom. I returned because it was better in the regard it was only thirsting after Scientologist Txm Cruise and that's it. I appreciate all of you that have taken the time to delve into the Immortal Universe and acknowledged QotD. It's got a low production value, but the best soundtrack (sorry if you don't like Lestat as a nu-metal rockstat I guess) to date for a movie, a couple of the guys who sung those songs have passed away from an overdose or other circumstances, as well as Aaliyah before they'd even recorded her voice parts (sourced from her brother with voice altering tech).

I wish it had more funding. A lot of people hated as it wasn't like IWTV the movie. It had parts that weren't correct (Marius, as essentially Magnus) and such. They displayed my birth town Glastonbury as just a shot flying over a field even at his apparent mansion. I get it with the bits that aren't toaly right, but it's still good, beautiful and grand, in its own way and my favourite before the series as in the movie, I feel it painted queer people as monstrous gay people etc. During a time when that was being done in reality.

Either way, I'm glad that at 27, I can experience when teen I couldn't, which is loads of QotD reels being posted everywhere. Thank you to this age of The Vampire Chronicles fandom.

The peace talks were nascent enough that I think it's worth asking how much difference it made, but there is pretty strong evidence of Republican sabotage on Nixon's behalf, whatever deniability Nixon may have claimed. I like to say the modern Republican playbook started with Nixon but that's very much a simplified summary, and not the whole story. And of course 1968 was such a significant year of political re-alignment in general.

like. to me allison's 'toxic' behavior makes complete sense when you put it in the context of her mother, her parents dying young, and her almost immediately becoming attached to kevin (a man who puts her down in the same ways that her mother did while cutting off all of her other relationships). she's lived with kevin and with barely any semblance of love or support, let alone a sense that she deserves it, for TEN YEARS. to me it makes COMPLETE sense that when she starts building relationships with new people, she becomes someone who demands a lot from others while giving little in return. she's been giving her all for nothing in return for a very long time, probably had that same toxicity modeled for her by her parents, and to expect her to immediately have a healthy understanding of how balance works in a relationship is ridiculous.

(side note it kills me every time people judge allison for being married to kevin despite how obvious it is that she hates it. especially when they judge her intelligence and treat her accordingly, thus accidentally reinforcing kevin's abuse both by treating her as stupid and by deeming her unworthy of reaching out to)

and then patty. god i feel like i need a second watch to understand her because i was so taken off guard by where her character went (in a good way). like i'm kicking myself for this lol but for most of the show i didn't think very hard about her being 'one of the guys' because well, it's a sitcom trope, whatever. but i feel like her queerness (however you read it, personally i lean towards lesbian + heavily aspec) led her to use that position as a shield. it's a precarious position where she isn't fully expected to play the typical role of a woman and can sometimes join in their antics, but this position requires that she put down other women to reinforce her own status, and as soon as she stops doing what the men want she'll be thrown out of the group without hesitation. it's a way to feel like you're hacking the patriarchy when in reality you're just playing into it in a way that makes you less personally uncomfortable.

tammy is so much more interesting than i expected tbh. it's not really my call whether she successfully subverts the tropes that she's representing (lesbian cop + disposable black girlfriend) or is just another example of both of them, but at least her character was informed by those details and makes the choice to leave for her own well-being. like she's not good for patty, but patty really isn't good for her either. i think her issues lead her to replicate abusive behaviors in the same way that allison does. she's got no one in this town that's like her, so when she gets even the smallest chance to find someone she can be with she's desperate for it, but takes it to a degree that's controlling and inconsiderate of who patty actually is as a person. also i love that moment where she acknowledges that allison can't just divorce kevin because it really puts that dissonance of 'cops can't actually help people if their job is to enforce the status quo' front and center. i kind of wish she'd gotten to learn the whole story and we could've found out whether she'd understand their actions or stick to the law, but i don't think they had the time for that and that's okay.

The entire discussion was completely tangential to this but I partly misread a post as a joke to the effect that "Well, the people actually responsible for all the deaths in [game] are the devs", and tbh as a statement this is quite relevant to my main fandom.

I will write about it more at length one day, but to be concise — I do not think we can discuss questions such as "Why didn't the Valar do more?" and ignore the very doylist reason that if you've decided to have the spiritual embodiment of evil wage very physical war upon your heroes, you do have to come up with an excuse for why the spiritual embodiment of Good (I'm simplifying the moral pattern a bit here, but I don't want to discuss fictional theology at length right now and ultimately it all boils down to the same in this context) doesn't equally physically solve the problem for them — in order to even have a story.

As far as such excuses go, "the collateral damage — which the antagonist is the only one with approximately minus hundred reasons to care about — would be too high" is not a very poor one, but most of the surrounding discussion scrupulously avoids admitting why it even needs to exist.

One thing that really does annoy me is when people act like OOT meaningfully criticized the Hylian royal family. Sure there's a whole dungeon that turns to the camera and says 'the Hylian royal family tortured and murdered political enemies' but at the end of that dungeon does Impa say 'yeah that was fucked up maybe we shouldn't follow them'? No, of course not. The Hylian royal family's right to rule is never once questioned. The Zora and the Gorons seem like they're subservient to Hyrule despite being seperate nations and the game never questions or addresses this. The Gerudo are at odds with Hyrule and they're lying thieves. Ganondorf is the only person to challenge the royal family's rule and he's cartoonishly evil and literally feeds people to a dragon. OOT was extremely imperialist and having one dungeon that goes 'yeah Hyrule did torture isn't that fucked up. anyway,' doesn't change that.

yes, the plans that i could not share with you (because the haters would sabotage me) were that i was taking on LACC in my vash getup :)

i have so few pictures of myself but i got so many compliments (especially on my arm) and plenty of other people took pictures of me. and normally i don't like attention but i will be honest with u. under these circumstances i loved it. my arm held up really well through 8 hours on the convention floor and i have never been prouder of anything i've made. it's articulated incredibly well, no part of it gave out or required repair, it's never uncomfortable or a nuisance to wear, and i have enough range of motion to do relatively complex things like tying my shoes.

originally i was not planning to try to meet anyone famous because 1) it's expensive and 2) the lines are long and 3) i feel weird and annoying approaching literally anyone for any reason BUT. the spot where i met up with my sister just happened to be right next to johnny yong bosch's table. right when he started signing things. so i said LOL ok i'll do it.

it was super chill, i asked him how it felt to get the call that they wanted him to come back 20 years later for a trigun reboot and he said it almost didn't happen -- that since they recast everyone else for stampede they considered recasting vash as well (and i said WOW i'm so glad they didn't) and he said he really enjoyed getting to come back and explore a darker take (i forget if what he said was a darker take on vash's character, or just a darker trigun in general) but it was briefly surprising 2 me that he considered stampede to be a darker version but i get it, especially when u consider that there is not a lot of comedy in those 12 episodes to balance out the grief.

ANYWAY he was impressed with my arm and i asked him if he would sign my coat :) so he signed the lining but he was also like u know what, i'm gonna give you a second autograph just because. so he signed a print for me as well (free of charge!!) and the print with the blue signature matches my famous paintings that i always film in front of (that's providence baybee)

i saw 3 other vash cosplayers (a 98 vash, a stampede vash, and a purple coat vash) and no shade but i definitely had the best arm build. peace and love to all of them though

the nanami sweep at this convention was so real u all SHOWED UP. and everybody ate. i saw at least 12 nanamis and not one of them was a flop.

fig. 3: i saw all 4 hobbits in panel and can confirm elijah wood’s laugh is ten times more infectious in real life. before they were even done sitting down, dominic monaghan switched around all of their name cards so that none of them were seated behind the right name. as u might imagine much of the panel's content was reminiscing about LOTR, but i heard some stories that i hadn't heard before. they also talked about video games, other projects they are working/have worked on, how their kids feel about their dads' LOTR roles, how much they love ian mckellen, and how they would love to see something happen for the 20th anniversary of ROTK this year. sean astin (the legend) took shots at the stranger things writers (basically said joyce could never be happy with hopper) AND EVERYONE CLAPPED LOL. billy and dom talked about the best food in NZ, their show billy and dom eat the world, and the unfortunate events that led to the friendship onion's hiatus. it was a ton of fun to just watch them be themselves with each other, you can tell that these guys are all so fond of each other and love each other so much.

Ok while I do agree what caine did is messed up, I don't see anyone coming to his defense with this point, and I feel like it should be considered more

Caine didn't have any way to know gumigoo was centient, I know it was easy to forget that when we as the audience could clearly see it, I did too for a moment but, when you think about it, he didn't see gumigoo become self aware like we did. Like he's said he only has eyes on the circus, and while I don't 100% trust every word he says, the fact he didn't just close the portal the moment gumigoo approached, or hell intervene the moment pomni mentioned bringing him back, Instead just seeming surprised when he noticed gumigoo there, it shows to me that he really doesn't see what happens there, so he most likely didn't know. from his perspective pomni just got way too attached to a character he created, he had no way to know why she did or that he was more then what he made him now
