I still think it's crazy how absent April was in most fights during 2012 despite the writers pushing her to be a fighter so much- Lmao

In case it was confusing, the images were examples of her not being very reliable or doing the bare minimum in a scene- If you go and watch those moments, you'll see what I'm talking about (Season 2 Episodes 25-26, "The Invasion" | Season 3 Episodes 25-26, "Annihilation: Earth!" | Season 4 Episode 3, "The Weird World Wyrm" are the examples I used for the video !)

It felt like they couldn't just pick a lane with her, you know? I personally think it would have been fine if she didn't fight much at all, there's nothing wrong with that and would be pretty consistent with most versions of April. But even if the writers were to keep the fighting aspects with her as a character, which is also fine, it felt like they couldn't choose between her being a close combat fighter or a long-range fighter?? Even if she was technically in a fight, we either never see her for the entirety of the fight or we'd see her one time and she did like one thing maybe- If we're so lucky to see it actually shown on screen. 💀 Lmao

I know most of the time I depict Casey being very nonchalant about Donnie's creepy nature, but at the same time, I think it would also make sense for him to find it exhilarating in its own way ! Like, Casey enjoys the way Donnie triggers his fight or flight response cause it's exciting or something- LMAO

Honestly, I really like your early thoughts on Shredder. They feel very structured and well-reasoned. And when I read them, I thought about Mikey as a "devil's advocate". I feel like if the show had addressed the role of the Hamato clan in the destruction of Shredder's family, Mikey would have become a "morally grey" character. At least in the eyes of his family, for sure.

I don't like the way the 2012's narrative is so stubborn about having issues be so linear or one-sided. I get that "it's made for a younger demographic", but they're the ones that chose to have this particular plot structure within their show + 2012 has gotten away with a lot shit despite being for a "younger demographic"- So I think we're well within our right to nitpick this kind of stuff. LMAO

The Hamato's seemed to have done their fair share of awful things, yet that never gets addressed by anyone and in my opinion Saki's used as a scapegoat for everything. If Mikey was allowed to connect the dots, I'm sure he would've seen it clear as day. He probably would've been dismissed, of course, but he would've seen it- 😭

It could've been such a cool story Arc for 2012 Mikey and Shredder / Karai (Miwa) !!

Do you have any thoughts on toxic Raphril?Personally, I think if they were toxic, they could have very loud arguments and both could be very jealous. They are both quite straightforward personalities, so their quarrels could be eternal. And as "hot" as their quarrels are, so "hot" are their reconciliations.Expensive gifts, abundance of love and affection, etc.

Codependent relationships™, in my opinion.

To be honest, if I were to depict a concept of toxic 2012 Raphril, It would probably be Date Everything's Harper and Dirk in a different font? LMAO

Personally, I don't know if toxic 2012 Raphril really appeals to me in the same way that toxic 2012 Jonatello does-? Using This idea was Raph and April just leads to a lot of yelling / arguing / pretending not to care when you actually do / being very hot and cold with one another on purpose , etc. Which I'm not saying is a bad thing, since it does seem very in character for them (Especially for 2012 April canonically speaking, as we see her be hot and cold with Casey and Donnie constantly throughout the show- 💀 Lmao) !

But it doesn't appeal to me in the same way that toxic 2012 Jonatello does because I like the stalker / obsession / codependency / metaphorically eating each other whole-ness that comes with that relationship dynamic ! I like how creepy and scary it can get, you know? The psychological horror aspect of it all is what keeps me interested ! 😌🫶💜🖤✨

I was thinking about the last question you posted about Raph and how toxic relationships isolate you. I mean, I imagine Donie when he realizes his relationship with Casey is on the rocks and is not healthy but doesn't know how to ask for help. He distanced himself from his family and friends, he erased everyone from his life except Casey, he's alone now and it is his fault. Donie has no one to go with except his boyfriend (or at least that's what he thinks)

Like, imagine this situation: The Turtles in an everyday moment, eating, watching TV, whatever. Leo, Raph, and Mikey chatting and hanging out together while Donie stands off to their side. Not because he's busy talking with Casey, but because he doesn't know how to hang out with his brothers anymore, how to talk to them or get closer, he forgot. He forgot who he is beyond Casey's boyfriend.

YES !! 🗣️🗣️🗣️

I also enjoy contemplating the consequences of this unhealthy relationship ! This right here would definitely be a big consequence for Donnie,, It mix it even sadder, because in my opinion, it wouldn't even be that his brothers just decided that they were okay with not interacting with him anymore They were just trying to "respect him and his relationship" like Donnie wanted them to,, To "stay out of it". 😭

I also love talking about how self-destructive being a hopeless romantic can be (Or At least, the kind of hopeless romantic that Donnie is anyway-),, ! He put so much weight into his love life and his romantic relationship with another person, Something he presumably wanted his entire life, just for it to ruin every other aspect of his life and did not have the hindsight to foresee that whatsoever- Mainly Because of metaphorical "rose colored glasses". I doubt Donnie ever put much thought into what happens if his relationship goes south- What happens if they just drift apart naturally- Which I love, because it just goes back to that Splinter quote from Season 2 !! "For someone so intelligent, the obvious eludes you-" !! 🗣️🗣️🗣️

I don't know if Donnie just has some type of blinders on, where he doesn't think that these things would happen to him / his relationships, or if he just didn't see it at the time??

I also love the idea of Donnie feeling claustrophobic around Casey once the roles are reversed because he's basically looking at a mirror of himself at that point- All The clinginess, the obsessiveness, the codependency, the desperation, treating the person that you love like your lifeline. It's all being thrown back at him after he indirectly conditioned Casey to be this way with him,, He trapped himself,, It's all sadly poetic to me, I don't know- ✌️😔

how isolated raph must feel in that situation? his best friend through thick and thin constantly chooses his brother over him, accuses him of not knowing him at all; what makes donnie motivated, what love language he prefers, when to leave him alone and when to keep him company, of being horrible to him - as if raph didn't know donnie more than he knows himself

the same would be said with dons and raphs relationship, as you already once showcased !! donnie constantly going on his case about not knowing what kind of foods casey even likes, what makes him happy and what not, what cheers him up and what upsets him

its just so interesting to see how their relationship not only affects them but also their loved ones

I honestly imagined him feeling as though he's losing his brother and his best friend at the same time- Which is especially hurtful with Donnie in particular in my eyes, given how they didn't really have much of a relationship to begin with canonically speaking and now it feels like they're even further from having a secure one,, However, I definitely like to use this entire situation as a means of growing their relationship ! Especially when Donnie starts to realize how toxic their relationship truly is (Which I explain by having Donnie being incredibly toxic at the beginning where Casey wasn't really, and then the scales change over time to where Donnie starts to become less toxic and Casey starts to become more toxic / unhealthy attached-) ! I really like the idea of Raph being there for Donnie through that whole process and supporting him through taking accountability for how badly he handled his relationship with Casey and understanding why things got so unhealthy in the first place-! So even though it's terrible at first, it gets better later in my head ! ✌️😔✨

Also, feel free to have this interpretation in your own toxic 2012 Jonatello concepts of course !! But I personally don't see Casey being very accusatory towards Raph like you described in your ask- That was more of a Donnie thing, given how possessive he is over his love interests ! However, I do see Casey being incredibly unreliable and distant with Raph (And the group as a whole-) because of Donnie, as he's been conditioned through this unhealthy relationship to always prioritize Donnie in pretty much every situation-! He's also constantly lying / being incredibly dismissive whenever Raph tries to bring up their relationship issues. He never speaks ill of Donnie, but I feel like to Raph, that's a huge problem in and of itself,, 💀 Lmao

I'm happy I managed to do more toxic 2012 Jonatello and Molecularly Scattered Theory (AU) in the same day- LMAO

For those who don't have context for this, I have a whole post about it on my page that you can find (It's a long text post- Lmao) !

I really wanted to display April's lack of experience as far as taking accountability within canon, given how much everybody is so quick to coddle her / tell her that nothing is her fault / never truly get upset at her. Thus, causing her to go through the five stages of grief (I drew four cause I was tired-) over being held accountable for doing a pretty shitty thing. 💀 || But I also like how complex the situation is in some ways, because obviously it wouldn't have been her intention to bring back a faux clone of their brother using Aeon powers- Which is why I love bringing up Wingnut and Screwloose when arguing about this theory's validity or canonical potential, because neither of those two were aware of the nature of their existence until they were exposed to the Aeon crystal and genuinely believe themselves to be alive / authentic prior ! 🗣️🗣️ || There's also the strain on the relationships April has with everybody of course- With Mikey being the only person genuinely trying to put on a brave and mature face and tackle the situation as a unit rather than being split apart. Which In and of itself is complicated, because on one hand everybody has a right to be upset with April over this (With this being a pretty valid "last straw" situation considering a lot of things that she's done in canon that they didn't say anything about-), but on the other hand Mikey doesn't want her doing something horrible to herself or shutting herself off completely because that's not the right answer either- 😭

I just love this theory so much, It's so interesting-
