Been reading 'You Deserve It! Break Time' and shaking Haruka vigorously. Rambling below.

Shizuku worries about Haruka working so hard in this event and wants to give her a break, and roughly the narrative goes that Haruka works as hard as she does unconsciously, that even though she should probably work a little less, she enjoys the grind, and that the difference between her perfect idol "persona" and Haruka the person is much blurrier than with Shizuku who'd had her perfect idol shtick essentially forced on her. It's not that Haruka's necessarily overworked or stressed despite how much she takes on herself, she's really the type A personality type of girl who enjoys the hustle of being an idol (and just imo leaning dangerously into headcanon territory, probably feeds off being able to be that hopeful provider and get praised for it so much). It's how she thrived for so long before her incident with Mai.

What I'd like to talk about in this post though is the ambiguity there! Yeah, Haruka loves being an idol, but there's an underline of "but. she could probably afford to be a little Less" sprinkled throughout. There's ambivalence towards Haruka's attitude towards being an idol, and before the event at that. I've thought a lot about a few of Haruka's early early interactions with Saki and Ichika talking about her habits:

"HARUKA-CHAN SUGOOI") Haruka doesn't know how to stop being an idol--even during the time where she's trying to quit. She tried just stopping dieting and training, and she got so stressed out over the absence of that routine ('so restless' i know what you're saying kiritani haruka.) that she went right back to the comfortable familiarity of keeping herself in shape as an idol.

These are definitely framed in the notion that Haruka can't really accept not being an idol and wants to return to it in her heart, not that she's unhealthy, but they also kind of imply she can't help herself but live the lifestyle. It's not just depressing for her, the work is something she has the compulsion to return to once she's stopped. She says it outright to Shizuka...

And it's an insane thing to say??? What do you mean you don't know how to relax??? Even though Haruka loves being an idol and hates being idle (hehe) and that's not unhealthy in of itself, it seems like she's been doing it for so long that she can't stop! I don't quite believe it when Airi mentions that she'd told her 'don't worry, I have an off-switch', when when she's tried to stop she's stressed out enough that she goes back to her work routine, and during the event during their time off (and before Shizuku starts tripping over herself in true form) she's still daydreaming about finding inspiration for their livestreams, as Airi snips at her throughout for.

She's happy, she's energized by the thrill of the hunt and I'd argue does 'relax' more than she knows hanging out with her co-idols and participating in their antics, but I wonder how she'd handle having to deal with a full stop. What if she gets a bad injury and has to be stuck in a cast for a bit? Content herself to play manager? It's a good start in the event for Haruka to be more conscious that she devotes more of herself than is necessary to work, and is trying to cut it back a little, but I'd wager ASRUN's nonstop idol Kiritani Haruka has already been baked into her personality during these formative years...

I think she'll have a rough time retiring from idolhood, sobs. If she had to stop one day, it would stress her out so badly I'm not sure she'd know what to do. Something would need to fill the aspirational void in her heart of being an idol and bringing hope to her fans. Maybe she should work corporate. Or become a biologist that researches penguins in Antarctica. Or maybe she'll have her edges smoothed out in the story to follow, I haven't gotten that far yet (have mercy, sincerely yours)....

also if she and minori have children (Dislikes: Idleness, Relaxing Activities respectfully) those poor things are in for a ride

Now that Critical Role's VOD of episode 120 is out and everyone in the fandom's had a moment to breathe, simmer, and adjust to this all. I wanna do a big talk about my favourite idiot punk rock, Ashton Greymoore.

Because over these last few episodes, I've been so proud of them.

Many people have had vocal opinions on Ashton, not all of them positive either; I've seen many berate them and say they're selfish, not a team player, or that they 'don't add anything to the group'. But over the past few episodes, I feel like Ashton has been an unsung hero in the battles with Ludinus and Predathos, with their contributions, oftentimes selfless and cooperative, ending up providing the floor for others to deliver strong and impactful actions.

While Dorian and Imogen will rightfully get the lion's share of praise for their clutch moments - Dorian's Force Cage on Ludinus saving Liliana and defeating Predathos' first stage alongside Imogen's Power Word: Stun setting up Ludinus' death and defeating Predathos' second stage - Ashton's actions were often the prelude to moments that could not have succeeded without them, including these clutch moments. Their attack on Ludinus in 117 prompted the Silvery Barbs that burned up his reaction - which allowed Dorian to successfully use Force Cage without being Counterspelled, their high-damage attack on his neck hole in 118 broke Ludinus' concentration on Ravenous Void - which somehow later got credited to Chetney - which gave Imogen the freedom and mobility to get in range for Power Word: Stun, they got the Insight check whisper on Predathogen in 119 to know that Imogen was physically inside of the body and needed to be pried out - which Imogen achieved herself thanks in part to Fearne reaching her, and recently in 120 they pulled Imogen out of Predathos' maw, abandoning the Hammer synonymous with their character (to the point that Keyleth titled them the 'Paradox Hammer') to prioritize saving their friend, which - following Dorian's healing - gave her the chance to use the Ring of Remembrance for the finishing Meteor Swarm. Not to mention all the other damage they dealt and tanked throughout the four fights, the passive d4 bonuses and advantage they gave the party (almost acting partly as a secondary paladin or a tertiary bard) to buff their damage and saving throws, and accepting the risk of disintegration when Laudna used their Hammer's spell splitter - which forced Predathos to use its final Legendary Resistance.

The Disintegrate moment itself was tense because we all know that Ashton is high among the Hells who would sacrifice themselves to save the group - a mentality most of the Hells likely shared in this fight - but fortunately they don't have to, they'll never have to, and they gained something just as if not more valuable than a heroic sacrifice: they get to live. The person who before meeting these chucklefucks believed they'd likely die face-down in a ditch in some backwater alley and thrown into an unmarked grave AT BEST gets to live, and the people that mean most to them get to live thanks to their efforts, their successes. And that's the most important part; for all the times they couldn't help or save someone because they were unconscious or out of reach, for all the times they let their imposter syndrome tell them they're just a fuckup undeserving of trust, praise, or love, and for every fear they had that one day they'd mess up and this new family of theirs will abandon them like the Nobodies did, this time they were there standing beside their people to the very end - and they helped get them out alive. No mistakes, no carelessness, and no-one left behind.

For that, I am proud of Ashton Greymoore; not Bells Hells' Weapon but their Helm, not a Blunt Instrument but a Protector, and not a Hero who needs to do 'what needs to be done' but a Friend who is saving their people no matter the odds. Under all the hardened and rugged exterior that has always been who Ashton is - the perfectly flawed character they are.

Love how Soren was so determined to not face his mommy issues either that he COACHED Lujanne on how to act like his mom, from her mannerisms of how she places her hands on her stomach, to how she speaks, to what she would say

It must’ve been an oddly immersive experience Soren showing Lujanne the drawing telling her to change this or that and ‘no, no she only wore her glasses to read and her coat had embroidery but the ones at the hem were frayed and the material was softer than this”

Lujanne following the instructions so vivid so clear she must’ve assumed for a moment Soren had seen her recently, the way each detail flies off his tongue until everything is perfect.

Then in the end for his efforts to avoid her Soren is left staring at his mother

He can't create a portal, he can't go to this universe history of timelines and he can't meddle anything, he doesn't like this and neither this universe spirit acknowledging his presence in this world.

Ok good news and bad news

Good news, Clockwork and Danny is already been informed and been trying to find ways to help him out to settle in this universe and found a way to get him out of here.

Bad news, it might take long- and he has to settl-settle... Here in this universe which it's spirit barely acknowledging him as a anomaly, and there's heros here...and some of them..just has problems which is relatable but...Dan is In form of a teenager...well like the empty clone Vlad made when he had been adopted by him..

I fear Kevin Day is the type of person whose struggle always came second. He funcioned enough that while everyone knew he wasn't alright, it was also nobody's problem, as someone else was actively having a harder time and they took precedence. He internalises all his problems and keeps going and going but he is fueled by alchool and sheer desperation a 100% of the time. If he were to stop for even a second he wouldn't know how to start again.

Did he ever, at somepoint in his life -away from the ex foxes, a pro player, married to Thea- wish he had it worse, just so that maybe it would have been his turn being saved? Being first? How badly would he feel, just one second after thinking it, because he knows damn well he has enough trauma to fill a stadium and he isn't actually jealous of his friends that had it worse, he isn't . That's a fucked up thing to think, stop it, stop it.

Would he still drink himself into a stupor to shoote the ache, to banish the thought? That's the help he got, when he was at his worst, a drink, and then two, and then a thousand. And it worked, it made him go, it picked him up when he was down, and now he can't get down without crashing.

Did he wish to be saved? Did he hope somebody, anybody, took the time and put in the effort to help him, just because they saw him down, not because he begged, but because they noticed he could use a hand. Or two, actually. Was it torment, to always be under the spotlight, yet never been seen? Did he run toward fame hoping the more eyes on him meant it would be easier to be noticed?

It made me want to create fanart as well but I just recently came out of a 4 year art block and the only thing that really stuck was abstract drawing, which I still love, but it doesn't help anatomy-wise. I don't want Minthara to break up with me!" Minthara deserves more content but none of these things are at all what she needs or deserves. No, these are all things that you want for yourself, but do absolutely nothing for her. This is one of the biggest L's in the game and it will forever enrage me because I just know it will never happen.

Minthara deserves to confront Orin like all the other companions do with their abusers. She deserves to scream and yell at Orin. She deserves to cut at her the same way Orin did, make her bleed and scream in pain. Minthara deserves to torture Orin, just as she did her in the mind flayer colony. Minthara deserves the right to roll up to the Temple of Bhaal and beat the shit out of Orin with her bare hands. Leave Orin begging for mercy in which Minthara will not even give her a drop. To slam Orin down on that altar and slice her throat, offer her up as a sacrifice to the father she is so blindly devoted to.

And yes, Minthara would be afraid. She would be TERRIFIED. Despite how strong and powerful Minthara is, she is also the only one afraid of Orin. Unlike Ketheric, or Gortash, or Sarevok, she is the only one who fully acknowledges just how dangerous Orin actually is and does not underestimate her. She will walk down into that temple, intending to duel Orin with a massive disadvantage because she is terrified.

Minthara choked when seeing Orin again in the mind flayer colony. She choked when seeing Orin as an imposter, throwing her deep into the ocean of paranoia and fear. And she is so entrenched in paranoia that it actually becomes palpable to everyone around her, even you. She describes herself as paranoid, but this is the first that you actually see how paranoid she is. And she choked again when Orin kidnapped someone in camp, making her feel inadequate, making a mockery of her for being unable to protect one of her own. And every day that passes, the more and more likely that the victim is going to die and she has doubts on their survival.

At every possible avenue in which Minthara could have done something or said something about Orin, she froze in place with fear. But she's had enough. She cannot be afraid of Orin forever and she doesn't want to be. One way or another, Orin has to die and she wants to get over that fear. She needs to know that Orin is dead, for herself.

This would also make the alurlssrin confession all the more impactful. She wants to tell you that she loves you in the best way that she can because of the very high likelihood that she will never have another chance to do so. She would beg you to come with her as you give her the courage. She has the courage to face her fears and confront her tormentor, because she knows she has you in her corner. If you have the courage to stand up to the very gods themselves, then she can stand up to Orin. Romanced or not, your presence alone is enough to give her the strength to do something she would otherwise be too terrified to do.

Minthara deserves the honor to solo duel Orin in a fight to the death. Minthara deserves the right to achieve vengeance for herself. No, I do not care that this confrontation would conflict with a Durge playthrough. In fact, it would provide a phenomenal source of some interesting, and toxic, drama between Durge and Minthara. Especially if they're in a relationship. This also does not mean that Minthara killing Orin instead of Durge would not have its consequences (because it most certainly will). Even if Minthara does not fight Orin, it would be so much better if Minthara was just given the fucking chance to yell at Orin like all the other companions in their personal quests.

When I first played Minecraft, I pretty quickly learned how to craft two things: wood from logs and sticks from wood. I didn’t learn how to craft anything else. My inventory was full of sticks. Knowing next to nothing about the game, I assumed the world was round, and so in my first ever world I set out on a mission to walk around the globe and get back to my spawn point. I played on peaceful mode because I was terrified of the monsters. In hindsight, this might have been in part because with my inventory full of sticks, I was rather defenceless against them, but I also just preferred to keep my long, long walk calm and quiet - nothing but my footsteps, the beautiful view, and the music. I walked through day after day, biome after biome: countless sunrises and sunsets, endless rain and snowfall, tall mountaintops and long, winding rivers. Then one day, I fell into a deep, deep hole in the ground. By some miracle, despite having no armor, I survived.

My inventory was full of sticks.
