Lets all have a moment of silence for all the cut A-Qing's in each perspective.#particularly ripped and buff 'Daozhang Defender 'A-Qing (her perspective)#funny but poor layout#XY also had a red arrow pointed at him in his own POV that said 'just troubled' but it made the panel too cluttered.#He does see himself as troubled and uses that to justify his actions#but I also think there is room for him to not really know exactly how to feel about himself in this situation#Yi-city is such a fantastic tragedy for so many reasons and you will bear witness to me rambling about it in the tags as this arc continues#Helping a blind man fix a roof? A manipulative act of building trust or genuine display of wanting to collaberate?#XY and A-qing have experience of the cruelty of the world where as xxc has blind (haha) faith that kindness prevails#These three simultaneous know each other more than the other's think and *yet* completely miss the mark.#the stories they tell in the blizzard (and the reactions they have) so perfectly display who these characters are#Both xxc and xy tell stories about unfair cruelty. To xxc it is others who's suffering is highlighted. XY highlight's his own.#A-qing understands xue yang more that she wants to admit. She predicts the twists in xy's story and empathizes with the hurt and anger#A-qing is also taking advantage of xxc! She is also lying to survive!#Though shes mostly benign in her intentions. She really did vibe check the rank stank on XY's soul on the spot#Alas...no one listens to teen girls....

They continuously are seeking liberation by latching onto different parts of the same monarchy, willing to be useful and nothing else endlessly attaching themselves to this powerful family, thinking that it may be different this time but it’s all going to be the same and it always will be. It also just absolutely kills me that their initial rejection of their first Targaryen sexual partner is this unwillingness to be a pawn, to gamble with their lives as they play the part of paramour, of lower than paramour, the part of whore. . and lack of agency is what emboldens them to start playing the Game of Thrones themselves.

hotd writers really dropped the ball with show! corlys imo
one of my favorite parts of game of thrones was the introduction of syrio forel and the info on braavos that came with him
it was such excellent world building
and the writers of hotd could’ve done the same with corlys
just one throw away comment or something along the lines of “corlys mother was a princess of the summer isles, an archipelago south of westeros, separating the sunset sea from the summer sea” and then the first time we see corlys he could’ve been sailing to kings landing from driftmark on a swan ship
it would’ve been cool af
and this could help set up the sea snake series, as fans who’ve never read the books would now have a better idea of what the world of ice and fire looks like

How far they go to preserve it#Yi-city asks a lot of hard questions. As someone who values Honesty above nearly all else-#-the question posed here about whether honesty is truly the correct course of action really gets to me#Lying is a form of kindness in here. And in a story about rumours and manipulations of truth-#its a good parallel to what we see in the main story!#we see the harm caused by trying to lie to be kind.
