The sexual humiliation of all the greens is atrocious. Aegon losing his…dragon and talking about it so candidly that it makes the viewers nauseous, Aemond taking comfort with the woman who raped him at 13 and having a full frontal nude scene, Helaena implying that Aegon only pays attention to her when he’s drunk, Larys’s foot thing (🤢), Tyland being a fertility clinic, and just…Criston in general (the man is the male punching bag for the writers, with the female being Alicent). It’s just so gross, so scummy, and so unnecessary. Someone seriously needs to look into the hard drives of the writers.

i'm very uncomfortable with the show's portrayal of alicent's sexuality.

alicent's "punishments" are always related to something sexual. and it's weird.

of course, there's the infamous larys scene. let's put aside the fact that this scene makes no sense, the way it is written is so disturbing. alicent is sa'd, and instead of this scene being horrifying, it's presented as deserving - alicent deserves to be sexuality assaulted & exploited like that. it's not a "oh my fucking god someone help her" moment, and it's not supposed to be. it's "lmao that bitch deserves it! only-fans meme!". this idea that a woman deserves to be sexuality assaulted makes me sick.

then we have s2 - when b&c happens, alicent is having sex with criston. b&c kinda becomes alicent's fault for... having sex? the narrative celebrates rhaenyra's sexuality but punishes alicent in the worst possible way for having consensual sex. the narrative's use of alicent's sexuality to emphasis on her hypocrisy & punishes her for it is so vile.

btw book ser criston became lord commander after ser harrold westerling's death, years before the dance and before he switched allegiances. he'd only been apart it the kingsguard for four years and presumedly was the lowest born member when chosen to fill the post.

instead, the show kept harrold westerling around so they could take what was a great achievement for ser criston and instead frame it as him getting to reap the benefits of the "evil greens stealing the throne"

Reblogging this to say the influx of “ships” Criston is a part of and presented as a solely sexual being is actually disgusting, especially considering that he’s dornish and they’re given that attribute in the books and show. Criston is more than being a sex tool for other characters. You can have your ships with him, but don’t make him solely a symbol for that.

Also, I’ve no issue with making the characters look bad, I prefer them flawed, but when there’s a major difference in the ways the writers treat the characters of opposing teams, that’s where I have an issue. Also unrelated but the way Helaena told Aemond how he’d die and what would happen to Aegon, that is NOT her prophetic powers, that is lazy writing.

I find it odd the way the writers have introduced two of the green characters now.

Obviously I’m not including him as a baby. But the first two scenes in which we see teenage Aegon and adult Aegon are focused on his bare ass, teenage Aegon pleasuring himself out a window and adult aegon naked with his bare ass on view (again), after they’ve just talked about his sexual advances on the handmaidens.

Then we start season 2 and the first thing we see of Alicent is her with Criston between her legs.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful for the show, but it’s odd to me that the writers seem to enjoy showing off team green in that way. 🤷🏻‍♀️
