hotd writers really dropped the ball with show! corlys imo

one of my favorite parts of game of thrones was the introduction of syrio forel and the info on braavos that came with him

it was such excellent world building

and the writers of hotd could’ve done the same with corlys

just one throw away comment or something along the lines of “corlys mother was a princess of the summer isles, an archipelago south of westeros, separating the sunset sea from the summer sea” and then the first time we see corlys he could’ve been sailing to kings landing from driftmark on a swan ship

it would’ve been cool af

and this could help set up the sea snake series, as fans who’ve never read the books would now have a better idea of what the world of ice and fire looks like

#mysaria came to westeros with corlys from his voyage to yi ti #maybe she’s half valyria like her father was a trader from lys and her mother was a yitish woman #i’m excited for the sea snake series but if hotd dropped some info like this in the series then it’d intrigue a lot of ppl #it could’ve been a random comment to daemon: who is this mistress of yours? i’ve heard she’s from the fabled lands of yi ti?#daemon would confirm this and then go on to build up hype around corlys voyages to all these far away places #maybe the one asking is rhaenyra bc daemon just gifted her the jade tiara and her interest was piqued #just rambling here #i just think that hotd world building has been really really lacking #anti hotd
