Absolutely done with Viktor being characterized as someone who looks both ways before he crosses the road, metaphorically. The very first scene we see of him, bro just throws caution to the wind cause he saw a shiny new object with a very bright potential with a boy with a very bright mind and smile. While said boy developed very cold feet in perusing his life's dream in fear of breaking the law, the Dean's assistant, could Not give any less fucks about that. Bro violates every trust and law of the academy to try figure out what shiny object can do. you can literally see him realising on screen the exact moment where he decides to break into heimerdingers lab. No thought of what he might do if they fail behind those eyes just pure wonder of shiny object. AND YALL SAY HE IS A CALCULATIGE DECISION MAKER IN EVERY ASPECT OF HIS LIFE??????? puh-lease.

He's never been given any permission growing up bro just leaned to take first ask forgiveness later and I don't think he often knew a person enough to be able to guess if they would actually forgive him. So he just went in head first and took whatever he wanted, yes with caution, but consequences be damned. And that confidence comes to him naturally cause he /knows/ he will be able to pick himself up afterwards. He does not think whatever he's doing through, he thinks on the go, does not listen to anyone who cautions him otherwise. Bro just sees whatever is the shiny object in front of him at the moment and he strives his best to get it. Try to get him out of whatever position he is in at that moment - fakes being a student at the academy to escape undercity- goes headfirst into magic to get a repreive from the monotone life of an assistant - continues playing with the arcane even after numerous cautions from others /just to escape his mortality/.

Literally the entirety of S2 is him Not thinking things through at all and just doing whatever seems like the best at the moment to him. Does Not listen to anyone else. And the reason why he could go on so long with this mentality is cause he is so good at whatever he tries to do. Buddy literally ascends to godhood just cause he tried. And cause he didn't think of the consequences it might entail. It's cause he does not think about what might happen if he fails, cause he knows he will be able to pick himself up after that. But not everyone can. And in his grand godhood scheme he brought in so many people who can't pick themselves up afterwards. He does not think about all the exits in the room he's about to enter cause all he was thinking about was the exits ways from the previous one. And unfortunately for him, the new room comes with it's own new difficulties and before long he gotta find the exits from this one into next- HE DOESN'T HAVE THE TIME TO THINK ABOUT COMING BACK TO THE ONE HE IS CURRENTLY IN IF THE NEW ONE FAILS HIM. HE WILL JUST MOVE FORWARD INTO THE NEXT ONE. I think only once when he realized what he's done and decides to think about the consequences of his actions and what he'll do if he fails is the mage version of him. With every equation solved he can only think about what his actions might bring upon himself, and how to undo them.

So please, /please/ dear fanfic writers, don't characterize him as someone who calculates his every move and how he might undo them and does a whole phd thesis on it before he actually goes ahead does it. If anything it's Jayce who has something worth coming back to, to think things through about how his actions might cause his reality to change and how he might undo them and memorise all the exits to the new place he is about to step in and mentally goes through plan A to Z- /because he has something worth trying to come back to/ . Viktor doesn't have that. He has never had anything like that. Among losses and fights in the undercity all he has ever been able believe in and love is his own ability to bounce back and forward from whatever the world throws at him. And that is exactly why he became so desperate to cure himself cause that is the only thing he ever could rely on. His own ability to heal himself from whatever knife had been stabbed into him. That is exactly why in S2 he went absolutely feral trying to seize back control. Why he kept on going and going and not looking back- cause he has never learned to. And the only way to undo all of that was to break the cycle. To end it himself.

I find it funny that Ford ONLY asked Dipper. Couldn't he have kept both of the twins in gravity falls? Like I know Dipper's his favorite but there is a high school there and he said he could homeschool Dipper, why not Mabel?

Especially considering how bad it was when he left his twin, wouldn't he of all people realize it's not the best idea

And Dipper said "what about Mabel" he could've just said "bring her too!" yk? And for the plotline of her getting ditched, that could've just been her interrupting him before he could explain fully.

Edit - in the two hours it's been up I've got 2 rants about why they couldn't do that so I'm just going to clarify: this wasn't an actual question. I've recorded some parts because it's literally just an au I liked the idea of and wanted to share
