There was a ridiculous sort of homeliness to the stout little house Yelena stood in front of. Long plants dangled from the slanted roofs, and the bulbous lamp hanging by the door glowed a merry shade of amber. Even the doormat was endearing, a shoddy brown scratcher with a black imprint of a cat’s paw in the center. Yelena wiped the soles of her combat boots against it, blowing out a deep breath she hadn’t realized she was holding.
Places like this—places that reeked of home and warmth—they weren’t made for people like her. At least, that was what she was conditioned into believing her entire life. People like her didn’t deserve to have a home.
But her sister had broken the cycle. She’d escaped. They were one and the same as children—a statue and its shadow—and yet they’d gone down vastly different paths in life. Natasha found a new family, she’d found love, she’d found a home. What did Yelena have?
And that’s what made it all the stranger for Yelena to be standing in front of this little house. A part of her was afraid that if she stepped inside, it would crumble apart in front of her.
It was her sister’s home, and yet she was afraid to linger. The house that her sister used to live in before she… before…
Yelena screwed her lips off to the side and bit the inside of her cheek.
Before she could change her mind, she rapped her knuckles against the polished wood of the door thrice. Two more times after that for good measure. The doorbell was right there, Yelena noticed a little too late.
When the entrance creaked open, the blonde had to grit her teeth and keep her feet planted, because a large part of her wanted to turn and run. Yelena Belova had been on the run for a large part of her life. So much of her childhood was lost to the wind of discreet cars and disguises. She couldn’t stomach the idea of facing something real and something true.
Your face peered out from behind the door, features curious and softened with exhaust. For a moment, she could see the scientist in you: the way your gaze darted all over her, searching for clues as to who she was. Trying to piece together the puzzle that was Yelena Belova.
Quite a few pieces were missing from that puzzle. Yelena was sure it’d never be complete, really.
“Hello. I’m sorry, who are you?” you asked, brows cinching together.
You were beautiful, even with the fatigue weighing over your shoulders, even with the tender skin beneath your eyes that darkened with tears and lost sleep. Yelena could see why her sister loved you so much.
When the blonde in front of you whispered her name, you took a slight step back. From shock or from fear, Yelena couldn’t quite tell.
A spark of recognition danced over your countenance. You’d seen faded pictures of your wife and her sister when they were children. She had the same eyes as that child. The same hair, the same nose, the same lips. But people change, faces morph, and personalities are discarded. You could never be too careful. After all—your wife was a widow.
“Prove it,” you murmured.
Yelena leveled her eyes with you. Then, she let out the shrill, two-toned whistle. The one Natasha would do to signal to you, to Clint, to her loved ones.
A lump formed in your throat, and tears pricked the corners of your eyes. You stepped to the side and muttered a quiet apology, inviting her to come into your home.
Yelena stomped her boots against the welcome mat twice, not wanting to be a rude guest by tracking mud all over the floors, and slipped into the house. Her sister’s home.
There were fragments of Natasha everywhere. In the framed pictures, in her initials embroidered into the handcloths in the kitchen, in the rows of linguistic books lining the bookshelves.
You were anxiously twisting your hands together, studying the way Yelena took everything in. Noticing that her eyes were lingering on the books, you ventured to tell her, “She was learning Arabic. During the Blip, that is. Got pretty decent at it, actually.”
Before she could think of a reply, maybe a rather petty retort that Yelena already knew Arabic, a curious meow broke her attention away from you, down to the ground. There was a little black cat pattering its way to her, eyes shining and ears pricked.
“You have a cat?” she murmured, lowering herself to her knees so she could reach out and ruffle its small head.
“Liho was Nat’s birthday present. Well, one of her presents,” you said, a faint smile twitching the corner of your lips at the memory of the failed collapsible motorbike. There was a brief moment of silence, all quiet except for Liho’s pleased purring. “You want a cup of tea?” you eventually asked, gesturing to the kitchen.
She gave you a nod, and you whisked away, grateful for something to occupy yourself with. Yelena found herself studying the house more—the pictures, the mirrors, the lights. It all screamed her sister.
Some of the photos had famous Avengers on them, and Yelena couldn’t help but smile. Her sister, the famous Avenger who saved the world. Her eyes flickered over to you as you brought out a teapot and two mugs. A part of her wondered what you were doing when Natasha had died. Were you off saving the world, too? You murmured something under your breath as you scuttled back to the kitchen to fetch some sugar.
“Please, take a seat,” you said kindly, gesturing to the chair across from you. You poured the drink for her and slid it over the table for her to take. Yelena dropped three cubes of sugar into the mug with an appreciative hum. “So, uh… what happened? Were you—were you blipped?”
“Yes,” she sighed out, blowing at the far-too-hot drink over the brim of the mug. “Five years of life, gone in a blink of an eye. You?”
The two of you watched each other for some time. She lifted the cup to drink, finally. It was damn good tea. There was a citrusy, lemony sort of flavor to it.
“I was part of the half that stayed. Nat and I… we were lucky to have each other. She buried herself in her work. I had—I mean, I didn’t really have work to do anymore. Not with most people I used to work for gone.” After a longer pause, you tilted your head. “Natasha searched everywhere for you. Everywhere. She never—she never stopped looking.”
A lump formed in Yelena’s throat.
“Yeah?” she murmured.
“Yeah.” A tear slipped down your cheek and you didn’t bother to wipe it away. Instead, you smiled. “She loved you so much, Yelena.”
She sucked a cold breath through her gritted teeth and sniffled. “What was she like?”
There were a few seconds of silence. You pondered on her question for quite some time. How were you supposed to summarize your entire world in just a few sentences?
“She was incredible. In every way, really. Smart, beautiful, funny, level-headed. But most of all, she was kind. I think that’s what threw a lot of people off about her. They know she’s an ex-assassin, and she’s not exactly a trusting person… and I guess it’s easy to make assumptions about her with just that. But she was so kind.” You had to pause to swallow around the lump in your throat. “She was patient and understanding. For her to… to sacrifice everything and leave the universe while saving it—that’s the Natasha I know.”
Yelena blew her nose into a tissue when you pushed a box of Kleenex towards her. “I’m here because of her. She’s… she’s a hero.”
“She is.”
With a watery laugh, Yelena said through her tears, “I tried to kill her friend. Your friend, too, I’m guessing. Clint Barton. I was told that he killed her.”
A grim expression flickered over your face as you pursed your lips. “Yeah. He told me. Didn’t sound too happy over the phone. But… he’s doing alright. Has his own little sidekick now, from what I gathered during the call.”
“Kate Bishop,” Yelena said with a mirthful glint to her eyes. “She hit me in the face, you know.”
You arched a brow. “Did you deserve it?”
Yelena frowned and lifted a shoulder in a sheepish shrug. “Probably.”
The two of you grinned at each other, cheeks damp.
Then, her beam melted away. “I didn’t want to believe that Natasha was selfish enough to sacrifice herself to save half of the entire world. Ironic, right?”
You traced the rim of your mug with a finger. “I remember the day it happened. They each came back from the past in a blink of an eye. Except the space beside Clint was empty. Steve caught me before I could fall to the ground when I realized what she’d done.”
“All these powerful heroes,” Yelena whispered. Her voice warbled and swayed, like a feather amidst a hurricane. “And the one that saved the universe was my big sister. She had no powers. Just her and her stupidly big heart.”
“And decades of training,” you added on.
“Yeah. That, too.” Yelena’s shoulders began to shake. “I just miss her so much.”
Abandoning your drink, you got up from the table and stepped to Yelena, pulling her into a warm hug. She began to tremble harder under your grip, winding her arms around you, seeking solace in your warmth.
“She missed you, too,” you murmured. An overwhelming sense of protectiveness washed over you. “I hope you know that you’re always welcome here, Yelena. You’re my sister now, too.”
After a second, Yelena sputtered an apology and slumped back, wiping her tears away with the back of her hand. “Sorry. I’m so bad at this. Emotions and all that crap.”
“That’s okay,” you told her, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder.
Yelena could see why Natasha loved you so much. You were kind like her.
“I grew up in a fake family. None of it was ever real, even if it felt like it was. But Natasha… she was always real to me. Now that she’s gone, the only real part of my life went with her, as well. And you—you’re real. Real to Natasha. And I… I know we just met, but I want you to be real for me, too. Not only as my sister’s spouse, but… as a friend, a sibling. I’d like to try.”
You gave her a warm smile, and reached out to pat her cheek twice, wiping the dampness away with your thumb. “I’d like that, Yelena.”
The two of you embraced again, and she nearly burst into tears upon realizing that you were the first person she’d hugged since she was blipped away.
“Did Natasha ever tell you how she broke my nose when we were kids?” she asked into the fabric of the hoodie you were wearing.
You pulled away with a skeptical gaze. “She told me you broke your own nose.”
The blonde laughed, low and chesty. “Man, do I have a lot of stories to tell you.”

Sore Loser
Request: Could you write a story where the reader challenges wanda to a ping pong game best of 3. The two agree that the lower should be tickled as a punishment. Each person wins one game but wanda wins the third. Rather than accept their fate, the reader runs around the compound with wanda (who is a bit slower) chasing after her. The reader escapes. Wanda recruits Yelena and Kate to go help chase the reader in like a hide and go seek type of way. Eventually the reader is caught wanda sits on the readers hips while the other two sit at either side of the readers head. They focus purely on upperbody tickling with an immense focus on the ribs and sides. Eventually they stop the tickling, the reader gets up and challenges Kate to a round of 5 in pingpong... (ler!wanda, ler! yelena, ler!kate x lee!reader)
Note: Thank you so much for this request! I had so much fun writing it and it was a very creative idea! Hope you enjoy!
Word Count: 1810
-----------------------------------------------------------
Today there were no missions and you all had a day off at the compound. Given that Tony Stark was a rich man, there were rooms for any activity that you could think of. Today, you decided to challenge Wanda at a game of ping pong. You two had been in a long series of games, keeping track of who won what. You were both competitive and refused to lose without a fight.
“Ready to lose again?” Wanda asked, as you picked up  your paddle.
“If I recall correctly, I beat you in basketball yesterday, so I’m actually ready to win again,” you corrected her cheekily.
“Wow, someone’s cocky,” Wanda tsked, sending some magic over to tickle your side.
“Ah! Wahahanda! That’s cheheheating!” You giggled, squirming around and trying your best not to fall.
“Don’t worry, I won’t do that during the game,” Wanda smirked.
“Fine, let’s make a deal. We’ll play best of 3, all games to 11 points, and whoever loses gets tickled,” you said confidently.
“Deal,” Wanda said, sticking her hand out to shake on it.
Each one of you had won one game already, and it was down to the third game. The score was currently 10-9, and it was match point for you.
Wanda served the ball, and you returned it with ease, feeling a grin form on your face. Wanda turned her body, fooling you and thinking she would hit it in the direction she was facing. However, with a quick flick of her wrist, she shot the ball across her body, catching you off guard.
“Tie game!” Wanda cheered, having a trick up her sleeve.
You gritted your teeth, feeling the pressure now. Before the game, you both agreed that it was first to 11, and you would not go into a deuce to save time.
“Nervous?” Wanda asked, grinning evilly at you.
You shook your head, feeling your stomach turn with excitement and nervousness.
Wanda was one to take a risk to win, so she pulled out a trick serve to try and seal the game. She let the ball bounce on the table, before hitting underneath it, sending it super high in the air. The key was to not hit it too far.
You eyed the ball carefully, unsure if it was gonna go out or not. It was super close, and you swung your paddle as the ball came down. However, the ball just nicked the edge of the table before falling off, causing you to whiff and hit nothing but air.
“HA! I WIN!” Wanda cheered. However, you knew you were gonna get wrecked and couldn’t accept the fact that you lost, so you took off running in the compound. Where you were going, you didn’t know. But you knew that you would not give her the reward she had earned.
Wanda knew she could easily fly and catch you, but she decided to build up the suspense by participating in the chase. You had stellar speed, so you were able to escape her.
The witch ran into Kate and Yelena playing Go-Fish on the couch.
“What happened to you?” Yelena questioned, as the witch was clearly out of breath.
“I beat Y/N in ping pong, and we agreed that the loser gets tickled. However, she lost and was being a brat and ran off. Can you guys help me catch her?” Wanda asked the two girls.
They smirked at each other, both accepting the opportunity to chase and tickle you.
The three women took off, looking in places they thought you were hiding. You were currently in Natasha’s closet with the lights off. You heard Yelena enter the room, calling out your name.
“Oh Y/N! Come out, come out wherever you are!” Yelena said, adding a teasing tone to her voice.
You peeked through the small crack of the door, watching as Yelena ventured further into the room. As soon as she got in enough, you threw the door open and bolted out of the room.
“Come back here Y/N!” Yelena shouted, while also yelling out to Wanda and Kate that she had found you.
You sprinted at full speed, ducking into a bathroom and closing the door.
You giggled with glee, knowing that you had an advantage speed wise. You positioned yourself to where you would be behind the door when it opened, meaning they wouldn’t see you. Or so you hoped.
Kate opened the door to the bathroom and turned the lights on. If it were somebody else, you probably would have been caught. However, Kate was a bit clumsy and not thorough in her search, as she took a quick peek inside and left.
You sighed in relief, but were starting to get a bit thirsty from all the running. You knew it was risky, but you decided to venture to the kitchen to get a drink.
You tiptoed slowly out of the bathroom, taking quiet steps through the compound. You found it weird that you hadn’t seen Wanda in a while, given that she was the one who was mainly trying to find you.
You finally made it to the kitchen, as you did a quiet fist pump. However, you were startled and jumped when you heard a voice from above.
“I knew I’d find you eventually,” Wanda said, smirking down at you. Wanda was flying above, as she used her flying abilities to scout around the compound where you were.
You quickly downed a cup of water and tried to take off. However, this time, Wanda was not letting you escape. She flew down and grabbed you, as you kicked and shouted for her to put you down.
“Kate! Yelena! I found her! Meet me in Y/N’s room!” Wanda called out, as she flew with you in her arms to your bedroom.
“Put me down! You insisted, squirming in her grasp.
“You think you can mess with me?” Wanda asked, gently tossing you on the bed.
“Well clearly I did,” you said with an eye roll.
Just then, Kate and Yelena entered the room, to your surprise.
“What are they doing here?” You asked Wanda.
“They’re here to help me tickle a brat to tears,” Wanda explained with a grin.
“W-What?” You stuttered.
“You heard me,” Wanda said.
“But that’s not fair! It’ll be 3 vs 1!” You cried, now sitting up quickly to bolt. However, Wanda tackled you and sat on your hips to prevent you from going anywhere.
“Better luck next time. Maybe you should work on your ping pong skills and you won’t be in this predicament,” Wanda teased.
“Girls, why don’t you go ahead and hold Y/N’s arms above her head?” Wanda asked, as you quickly wrapped your arms around your torso.
Yelena and Kate tried to grab your arms away from your torso, but you were stubborn and used all your strength to not allow it.
Wanda began to scratch at your sides, making you burst into giggles, weakening you by the second.
“Wahanada stahahap!” You giggled, as your strength was depleting.
Eventually, Kate and Yelena tickled your neck, which made you even weaker. They grabbed your arms and pinned them above your head, leaving your entire upper body open.
“This is your punishment for losing…and for running from me,” Wanda said, as she reached down and began to claw at your ribs, making you gasp in ticklish surprise.
“WAHAHAIT PLEHEHEASE!” You laughed, arching your back as much as you could.
“What's wrong Y/N, does that tickle?” Wanda cooed, as she dug in between your ribs.
You screamed with laughter, begging for her to stop.
“Stop? We’re just getting started,” Wanda teased, as she signaled to the girls to join in.
Kate and Yelena both used one hand to hold your arms and the other to now wiggle into your armpits, causing you to squeal.
“HAHAHAHAHAHA NOHOHOHOHO IHIHIT TIHIHICKLES,” you shrieked, shutting your eyes tightly in despair.
Wanda moved her hands back down to your sides, making you snort and pull desperately at your arms. You tried to buck against her, but this only made her bend down and blow a raspberry on your tummy.
“OHOHO MY GOHOHOD STAHAHAP IHITS SOHOHO BAHAHAD,” you laughed and shouted.
Kate and Yelena stopped tickling your armpits, as Wanda now raked her nails over your soft stomach.
You sucked in your stomach, trying to avoid the tickles and hold in your laugh. Wanda caught on to this, and stuck her finger in your belly button to make you bark out with laughter.
“Are you gonna stop being a sore loser?” Wanda asked, raising an eyebrow at you.
“Are you?” You responded back, immediately regretting it when Wanda went full force, spidering and squeezing up and down your sides, and scratching her sharp nails over your delicate exposed ribs.
“OHOHOKAHAHAY WAHAHANDA STAHAHAHAP ENOHOUGH IHIHI CAHAHANT,” you pleaded, as Wanda stopped to give you a break to see if you were being serious.
“Say you lost and this will all be over,” Wanda warned you.
You laid there for a bit catching your breath. Kate and Yelena began to lightly drag their nails over your arms, stopping just before the armpit to make you freak out in anticipation. Over and over they did this, as you struggled against them.
Wanda felt you squirm and buck slightly under her, but she knew it wasn’t from the tickling. You were trying to escape.
Wanda moved down slightly before giving you a look of warning.
“Are you gonna say it?” She asked.
You shook your head firmly, bracing yourself for the next attack.
“Your funeral,” Wanda sighed, as she began to squeeze and dig into your hips. Kate and Yelena also resumed their armpit tickle attack, which sent you over the edge.
You screamed and gasped for them to stop, eventually breaking out of their grip and tapping out on the bed as Wanda continued her hip tickle assault.
Wanda ceased her tickling, as you muttered out that you lost.
“What was that?” Wanda asked.
“Yeah we couldn’t hear you,” Kate and Yelena both chimed in.
You rolled your eyes, before jumping as Yelena poked your ribs.
“Okay stop!! I said I lost!” You said desperately, now curling up to protect all of your ticklish spots.
“Atta girl,” Wanda said, ruffling your hair as you swatted at her in annoyance.
“I may not be able to beat you at ping pong, but I can definitely beat Kate,” you huffed in annoyance.
“Hey! Why am I getting dragged into this!” Kate exclaimed.
“Sounds like Y/N is challenging you,” Yelena said.
“Loser gets tickled?” You suggested again, knowing that Kate had no ping pong experience.
“I didn’t agree to that!” Kate shouted, now getting worried.
“Too late!” You said, taking off for the ping pong table for a best of 5 match.

What If...Ant-Man And The Wasp Fell Through Time?
Tumblr media
Here's a piece and a What If...? Scenario I did for the MCU's original Shrinking Superheroes Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne, remixing in a few different elements of the MCU's past and future.
Apologies again if it's lengthy.
---------------------------
In this universe, in their attempts to thwart Elihas Starr's progress on the Quantum Tunnel, a misfire from one of the guards caused the tunnel to overload, sucking both Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne into the Quantum Tunnel and killing Starr and his wife in the process. Both Ant-Man and the Wasp fell aimlessly into the Quantum Realm, accidentally fall into a time vortex, landing 24 years into the future.
After waking up in a S.H.I.E.L.D. hospital room, both Hank and Janet quickly broke out and retrieved their gear, trying to escape the facility, only to be stopped by both Nick Fury and Bill Foster. Upon seeing Bill older than he should be, both Hank and Janet correctly assume that they were down in the Quantum Realm longer than they thought, surrendering themselves to gain answers.
---------------------------
After some time, the couple are briefed by both Fury and Foster about the past 24 years. When Hank and Janet went missing in 1987, Bill took in both Ava and Hope, looking after them from them on. While Ava was treated by Dr. Foster using their Quantum Technology, Hope went on to join S.H.I.E.L.D. as a field operative in Ava's place, becoming close allies with Nat and Clint.
The two then unfortunately learn that Hope was killed on an assignment with Nat outside Odessa by the Winter Solider. Her death led to them uncovering and exposing of H.Y.D.R.A.'s moles inside S.H.I.E.L.D. As both Hank and Janet grapple with the revelation of their daughter's death, Nat comforts them by telling them it wants their fault, and that Hope wouldn't want them to blame themselves for her choice.
---------------------------
After the pair return to their old home - kept as it was by Bill out of respect for Hope’s wishes - a grieving Hank and Janet agree to put the hero lifestyle behind them and just try to move on with their lives, as hard as it may be.
- [ ] Hank started up a new company with Pym Technologies, focusing on the mass manufacturing of Pym Particles for global usage. He eventually hired Scott Lang as his assistant, who also helped him with adjusting to the new time.
- [ ] Janet pursued a career in fashion design, starting up the Winsome Fashion line, quickly becoming a social icon. She spent some of her time whipping up some new suit ideas for her and Hank.
- [ ] The two of them were temporarily pulled out of retirement due to the Battle of New York, in which they fought alongside the Avengers to defeat Loki, before they returned to their normal lives. They became close friends with the recently revived Steve Rogers, bonding over how the world had changed for them since their disappearance.
- [ ] Hank and Janet soon have a second child, Henry Pym Jr., who despite his young age, takes well after his father's scientific style.
---------------------------
In 2014, 3 years after landing in the future, Hank and Janet have so far managed to adjust to their new lives here with Henry Jr. However, things become complicated when Hank receive a call from Nick Fury about something found from Rogers' latest mission at the Lemurian Star.
After leaving Henry Jr. in the care of Scott, the two quickly suit up and fly over to the Lemurian Star, where Rogers, Barton, and Romanoff stand waiting for their arrival. The two of them lead Hank and Janet to the cargo hold, where they find a modified Cyrostasis Chamber containing someone wearing a black and red Wasp suit.
As Janet examines the tank, Natasha shows them the information they were bale to pull from the ship's database regarding the mystery figure, confirming her as an operative codenamed "Orphan." Their conversation is interrupted however, as the tank suddenly explodes, knocking everyone back. The others get up to see the Red Wasp in question now standing conscious, before shrinking and attempting to escape.
Hank and Janet give chase, following her through the ship and engaging with the foe as the others follow behind. During the ensuing fight, Barton manages to shoot the Red Wasp in the mask, knocking her back. The group looks in shock as the enemy Wasp is revealed to be a still alive yet brainwashed Hope underneath the mask.
Putting her mask back on, the Red Wasp flew upward, raining a barrage of resizing discs on the ships's compartments, forcing the others to jumped in the water to escape. As they resurfaced, Hope was gone, and both Hank and Janet knew this just got a lot more complicated.
---------------------------
Back at the Triskelion, both Hank and Janet confronted and berated Nick Fury about the reveal of their daughter's false death. Fury explains that S.H.I.E.L.D. tracked down any rumors of Hope's survival for years, but every lead they found came up dry.
Rogers asked how Hope could have been brainwashed if H.Y.D.R.A.'s Winter Soldier program was shut down. Romanoff suggested maybe the Red Room had instead brainwashed Hope and were using her as a pawn to commit their terroristic acts as revenge for Romanoff killing Dreykov. After coming to terms with the mission to save Hope from the Red Room, Hank asks what Hope's target was, to which Fury reveals it is none other than Bill Foster.
Down in the lower levels of the Triskelion, Dr. Foster is working with Ava to stabilize and reverse her condition, when Rogers, Barton, and Romanoff storm in, telling the both of them that they need to move before the Red Wasp gets to them. The moment was interrupted as Ava spots something in the reflection of her Quantum Chamber. Cap manages to shield Bill from a barrage of oncoming Widow Bites, before being knocked back by a resizing Hope.
Clint and Steve get Bill to safety while Natasha and Ava attempting to subdue the Red Wasp. Their attempts prove unsuccessful as Hope overpowers Natasha and flies away, only to be cornered by her parents. Hope, Hank and Janet then fought in the hallway as they attempted to reach their daughter attempted to through the wall the building and into the sky. Janet managed to then turn Hope's Widow Bites against her, incapacitating her as Janet and Hank manage to bring her in carefully.
---------------------------
With orders from Fury to trace this attack to it's source, Hank, Janet, Steve, Clint and Nat work to find a cure for Hope. Upon further examination of the transmission of the Lemurian Star, they find a secret message embedded within the transmission, with coordinates to St. Petersburg. They travel to the home of Melina Vostakoff, finding it in ruins.
The team slowly approaches the house. wondering what to expect, only to get surprised by a sniper on the rooftop firing a warning shot. Natasha steps forward telling whoever's there that they mean no harm, and that they received a transmission send them here. The sniper steps out from the shadows, unmasking herself a none other than Yelena Belova.
They quickly bring Hope inside the house and restrain her to the table, where Yelena fills them in on the whole situation. When H.Y.D.R.A. fell, the Red Room took whatever they could from the organization's remains, including Hope.
During her time as the Red Wasp, hope was paired up with dozens of Black Widow operatives, including Yelena herself. She says on a mission to retrieve the Red Dust from Oksana, Yelena was freed by none other than Melina, who then informed her that Taskmaster had ulterior motives for the Dust.
However, before she could tell her, both Melina and Oksana were killed by Hope, who Dreykov sent as reinforcement. Yelena attempted to use the Dust on Hope to free her too, but the Red Room's Pym Particle's effects on her brain chemistry prevented it from fully taking effect. After managing to escape by disabling Hope's wings, Yelena went on the run for sometime, using her skills to evade capture from the other Widows before ending up here.
---------------------------
Yelena shows them one of the vials leftover from her recovery mission, saying that she sent the secret encryption in the Lemurian Star's message to bring Hank and Janet here, as they may be the only ones who can help stop this.
Soon Hank gets to work on synthesizing the formula, using his expertise with the Pym Particle to isolate the properties needed to treat Hope's effects.
As Hank continues his work, Janet looks over the now restrained and unconscious Hope, feeling guilty for leaving her behind. Nat consoles her, telling her that all that has happened was because of Dreykov, and that she did all that they could to protect her.
Eventually, Hank finishes modifying the Red Dust, telling the team that it's time. After disabling her suit and making sure she can't shrink away, Steve, Clint, Nat, Yelena, ready themselves as Hank and Janet shrink down, flying into Hope's brain through her ear.
The sudden shock immediately wakes up Hope, who immediately begins fighting it out with the other the others manage to hold her down as Hank and Janet make their way to her brain. Once they finally arrive, Hank activates the modified Red Dust into her brain nervous system to free her.
However this doesn't fully stop Hope, as she continues to pummel Natasha until she has her in a chokehold. That's when Hank confirms there is an additional control device somewhere on Hope that's interfering with the process. That's when Clint spots finds a control hip on the back of her neck, using a taser arrow to short-circuit it. Hope then collapses to the ground unconscious as the Red Dust finally takes effect. Steve checks her pulse, confirming that she's alive.
---------------------------
After about an hour of watching and waiting, Hope finally awakens, free from the Red Room's influence. After sharing a tearful reunion with her parents and catching them up on everything they've missed, she tells them everyhting. She reveals that when Natasha killed Dreykov, his daughter Antonia survived, rising to become the Red Room's new leader Taskmaster. When the Winter Soldier shot her in Odessa, Taskmaster then kidnapped and brainwashed her, giving her a new alias as "Nadia."
Taskmaster sent her to retrieve the Red Dust in a plot to not only corrupt the its effects, but also use their reverse-engineered Pym Particles to evolve it into a widespread agent against possible Red Room rebels. When Steve asks why they sent her alone, they all suddenly soon realizes the answer. Looking through Hope's former control chip the team finds a tracking device Taskmaster installed inside the chip.
The lights then go out, with other Widows from the Red Room stunning and incapacitating the others. Te Pym van Dyen family attempts to fight off the Widows, only to be subdued by a barrage of Widow Bites. The last thing they manage to see until they are all knocked out is the face of Taskmaster, glaring down upon them.
---------------------------
The family awakens to find themselves in cuffs inside of Taskmaster's office, with Antonia standing menacingly over the three insects. Janet asks if they are in the Red Room right now, to which Dreykov confirms, welcoming back Hope into the fold as Nadia. Hope spits in her face, telling her that she used them to hurt her friends and her family.
Taskmaster retorts, saying it's retribution for her friends making her like this, brandishing her scars as a symbol of her past. Hank asks why she kept them alive, to which Taskmaster explains she saw the potential in the Pym Particle for the Red Room program, and that she allowed Yelena to send the encryption to bring the both of them here for her plan.
She then reveals her plot, and how she plans to use the Pym Particles to spread her corrupted Red Dust worldwide, saying that after so many years of being used like a puppet by her father, now she gets to be the puppet master. Janet tells her she'll never win, to which Antonia says she already has. She then whips out a vial of the corrupted Red Dust, spraying it directly in Hope's face to revert her to the Red Wasp. She struggles to fight off the corrupted Dust as her parents beg for Taskmaster to stop, watching in horror as their Hope struggles to fight back.
After some struggling, Hope finally stands, seemingly under Antonia's influence, who orders her to execute her parents.
---------------------------
Down in the holding cells of the Red Room, Steve, Clint, Nat, and Yelena are sitting silently, contemplating their next course of action. Soon, a squad of Taskmaster's Widows walk into the cells, prepared to end them only for the lights to flicker mysteriously as gunshots and shouts can be heard.
The Widows turn their weapons to where the noise came from, only to be taken out one by one by none other than Ava and Bucky, who free the team from their holding cell. When Steve asks where the Pyms are, Nat tells them they should be in Dreykov's office.
The team then splits up; Steve, Clint and Yelena go to retrieve the Dust, while Bucky, Ava, and Nat storm through the facility to get to the Pyms.
---------------------------
Back in Dreykov's office, Hope stands over her parents, readying her bracelet to execute them against their pleas. Despite Janet's attempts to appeal to Hope's humanity, Antonia tells them it's pointless, as her as long as her corrupted Dust can access her nerves, Hope will remain under their control.
With that information revealed, Hank gives Hope the signal, who turns her Widow Bites on Antonia, shocking her with a stun blast. After removing the stun disc from her armor, Taskmaster furiously asks how this is possible, to which Janet reveals Nat told them that Antonia might try this, so she and Hank shrunk down and secretly severed the nerve, preventing her from being infected by the Corrupted Dust.
Angered, Taskmaster sicks her Widows on the family, before retreating to escape. Despite their best efforts, the other Widows managed to pin them down, beating them to a pulp. Thankfully, they were soon saved by Bucky shooting smoke grenades filled with the Red Dust into the Room, freeing the others and the Widows.
After helping them up, Nat takes the other Widows to escape, while Hope reveals she stole Dreykov's ring during Taskmaster's threatening, using it to hack into the Red Room database to download their data and contact S.H.I.E.L.D. with their position before fleeing the scene.
---------------------------
As the Red Room's troops began rebelling and escaping the facility, Cap, Hawkeye, and Yelena manages to break into the facility's science center, stealing back the Red Dust before destroying all of Taskmaster's contaminated variant with one of Clint's explosive arrows.
The group then made their way towards the exit as they heard the sound of the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier overhead of them, engaging with the facilities defenses. However, they were soon stopped by Taskmaster, who shot at them with an arrow. Not amused, Clint grabbed the arrow and shot it back at Antonia as the three heroes engaged with the enemy, who managed to best them beat by beat. As she was about to crush Yelena's windpipe, she was then blasted back by a barrage of Wasp Stings and Widow Bites as Hank, Janet, Hope, and Ava enter entered weapons blazing.
Taskmaster engaged with the heroes, using every tactic at her disposal to gain the upper hand. But before she could stab Hank through his helmet, Ava was able to use her powers to phase into her brain to disorient her long enough for Hank to kick her blade and shield away and shrink them beyond use as both Janet kicks her away and Hope hits her with a resized undercut swing.
The team stands defensive for a moment before the wall of the room they are standing in gets blown open, as a jet flown by Bucky and Nat hovers closeby. Janet tells Antonia to back off as S.H.I.E.L.D. has the Red Room in their sights. Though vastly outnumbered, and angered about Barnes, Natasha and Yelena's desertion, Taskmaster demanded Hope's return, and provoked her by threatening to have her parents and baby brother Henry Jr. executed.
Hope leaped into the fray to battle Antonia, even as her father pleaded for her to stop. Eventually, Hope managed to use her sizing abilities to leap over and dislocate Taskmaster's arm. Antonia then goaded her, saying if Hope doesn't she'll never fully be free and if she does, she'll be no better then the parents who abandoned her.
Hope hesitates for a moment, but one look at her parents convinced to let Dreykov live, telling Antonia that she doesn't get to do anything family ever again. As she attempted to walk away, Taskmaster grabbed one of her spare knifes and leaped in to kill Hope for good, only to be knocked out by a resounding double-timed punch by Hank and Janet, leaving her unconscious on the floor.
The team finally board the jet and leaves the Red Room as S.H.I.E.L.D. overtakes the facility and arrest Taskmaster. While on board, the family finally reconciled their past, and Hank and Janet apologized for leaving her behind her, assuring her that it was finally over.
---------------------------
Sometime after this, S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers have been taking point on the remaining Red Room, with Nat and Yelena leading the search for any remaining Widows under Taskmaster's command.
Hank and Janet have officially retired for good from the hero life, opting to make up for lost time with Hope, who has moved back into her old home and started to get along quite well with her new baby brother Henry Jr. However, not wanting to leave the Avengers without at least one shrinking hero on the team, Hank decides to leave the mantle of Ant-Man to Scott Lang for now, before making sure Scott was fully trained to use the suit, with some help from Hope and Janet.
And so, as one generation of heroes retires, another one arises into the ranks of the Avengers.
---------------------------
Sorry again for the lengthiness for this, but I thought it would be an interesting idea to explore in the near future. Plus it would be an interesting way to give Hank and Janet some more action in the MCU without disrupting anything in the main timeline.
Hope you like it!

Healing Bonds
Yelena Belova x Fem!Reader, Natasha Romanoff x Fem!Reader(Past)
Summary: You find Yelena after Natasha, your ex-lover, has passed and you feel like it's your duty to keep Yelena close. What happens though when feelings rise up for the blonde Russian?
Word Count: 3.2K
Warnings: Lots of angst and hurt
A/N: So This idea had come to me after rewatching Endgame, Black Widow, and Hawkeye so here you go.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first time you met Yelena Belova wasn't until after her sister and your ex-lover, Natasha Romanoff, died. Natasha had always talked about Yelena and how much she loved her. You cried when you first laid eyes on Yelena. The two looked nothing alike, and you were thankful for that because you don't think you could look at her if she did.
When you told Yelena who you were to Natasha, she cried, wishing for a million different scenarios in which her sister was still here with them, and all you could do was hug Yelena, which earned you a handful of punches. You learned quickly that Yelena could be a very violent person when dealing with certain emotions. The first time it happened, you let it. You let her get her aggression out.
"It's not fair! You had so much time with her! You got to be happy with her! Me? I got a mission that almost got us killed after 20 years of silence!" She yelled, and you just held her tighter. "I'm sorry, Yelena," You whispered over and over and over.
In those moments, as her fists collided with your body, you could feel the pain in her words. It wasn't just about Natasha's death; it was about the years lost, the missions that tore them apart, and the void left by the silence between them. You understood Yelena's anger, even if it was directed at you. It wasn’t as if she could direct it at the person she wanted to.
As the punches subsided, she finally collapsed into your arms, exhausted from the emotional storm that had consumed her. You sat there in silence for a while, the weight of Natasha's absence hanging heavily between the two of you. The room felt colder, emptier, and you couldn't shake the guilt that gnawed at you.
"I wish she had more time with you too, Yelena," You said softly, your words barely audible. Yelena didn't respond, but her grip on you tightened, seeking solace in your shared grief.
In the aftermath of that turbulent encounter, the two of you began a journey of healing together. You were bound by the love you had both lost, and as the two of you navigated the tangled web of emotions, a new connection formed. A connection born out of pain, but one that held the promise of understanding and, perhaps, even redemption in the face of the losses you both endured in the wake of the Snap and beyond.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You ended up taking Yelena home with you, offering her a permanent place by your side. She continued going on missions, which you had expected. The first time she left without telling you, and there was no note. You thought you'd lost her forever, sitting on the back porch in the summer evening air, your Y/H/C hair whipping around you as silent tears fell.
You didn't hear her come in, not until she was next to you did you notice her presence. "Why are you crying?" Her accent, thick and familiar, filled your ears as you grabbed her, pulling her in tightly, close, your heart hammering in your chest. "I thought I'd lost you too... don't... don't fucking do that again, Yelena!" You yelled at her, your voice trembling as tears flowed freely.
Yelena's expression softened as she held you, understanding the fear that gripped you during her absence. "I had to go. It was a last-minute mission, and I didn't want to wake you," she explained, her words a mix of apology and reassurance.
"It doesn't matter. Just... just tell me next time, please," You pleaded, your grip on her not loosening. The relief of having her back overwhelmed the anger that had fueled your outburst.
Yelena nodded, pressing a gentle kiss to the top of your head. "I promise. I'm sorry for making you worry," she said, her voice soothing. The two of you stayed there, entwined on the porch, the summer breeze carrying away the tension that had momentarily fractured your newfound connection.
From that day forward, Yelena kept her promise. She would leave for her missions, but not without a word or a note, ensuring that you wouldn't have to endure the heart-wrenching uncertainty of her absence again. In the quiet moments between her departures and returns, your bond deepened, and the scars of your shared losses began to heal, one mission at a time.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You decided to form a company a little over a year after Natasha died, the weight of her absence still heavy in your heart. Standing at her grave, you whispered into the wind, "I'm going to start a company. I don't want to be an Avenger anymore. Not without you, but I can help others. I know I can." The breeze felt like Natasha's touch, a comforting caress that seemed to echo her approval.
"Yelena and I have been living together for six months now, Tasha. She's exactly as you described. A spitfire and a brat at times. I don't know if you can forgive me or not when I say this, but I could see myself with her. She's my type, a power bottom with a bratty side." You chuckled as the wind picked up. "Okay okay... I understand, only if she moves first," You whispered, as if seeking Natasha's consent in the elements around you.
Your company started up with few hiccups. You planned on making a business out of seeking out people with powers and talents that could be considered Avengers, teaming them up with a manager. Eventually, you aimed to expand to other countries, each with its own headquarters. The goal was to create a network of skilled individuals, ready to defend against threats on a global scale.
You envisioned a world where those of you left in America could stay here unless faced with a Thanos-level threat, something you fervently hoped would never happen again. The legacy of the Avengers would live on through this new venture, a tribute to Natasha and a commitment to protecting a world that had lost so much but still held the potential for hope and resilience.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You come home to find Yelena sitting on the couch with a pot of mac & cheese covered in hot sauce, using a too-big spoon. "Y/N! I made mac & cheese! Would you like some?" she asks, and you’re too exhausted to yell at her. You sit next to her, taking the spoon and eating some. "How was your day?" she inquires.
"Stressful, Lena. More and more people are learning about my company, and we're getting more and more applications," You reply, leaning your head back against the couch, closing your eyes. You hear her set the pot down on the coffee table before she curls up against your side. "Anything I can do?" she asks.
You remind yourself of the promise you made to Natasha. "Whatever you think sounds good. You've known me for over a year now, Lena. What is it that you think I want? What will make me feel better?" You don't open your eyes or look at her. you’re testing her, and she knows it.
You feel her shift off the couch, and you clench your fists. She's never going to make the first move as you fiddle with the band on your ring finger—the one you haven't taken off since Natasha gave it to you.
Yelena returns with a blanket, draping it over both of you. "How about a movie night? We can just relax and take a break from all the chaos," she suggests, her voice soft. It's a simple gesture, but the warmth of her presence and the consideration behind her words start to ease the tension within you.
You nod, finally opening your eyes to meet hers. "Yeah, that sounds good, Lena," you admit, a small smile playing on your lips. Maybe in that moment, amidst the mac & cheese, the too-big spoon, and the movie night proposal, you found a way to let go, even if just for a little while.
Yelena picks the movie while you change into pajamas, a tank top and shorts. You notice her eyes on your body, but choose to ignore it for the time being as you make popcorn and pour us some vodka sprites. Carrying the drinks and popcorn over, Yelena has picked out John Wick. You can’t help but chuckle at the choice as you settle back into the couch. Yelena moves closer, fitting into you like a puzzle piece as she takes your left arm and wrap it around her shoulders. You simply smile at the gesture, sipping on your drink and eating popcorn as the movie plays out.
About halfway through the movie, you feel Yelena absent-mindedly playing with the band Natasha had given you. She's engrossed in the movie, and you watch her, finding her reactions more enthralling than the movie at this point. It's a subtle touch, her fingers tracing the contours of the ring on your finger, and you can't help but be drawn to the way she navigates the emotions tied to Natasha's memory.
As the scenes of John Wick unfold on the screen, you lean your head against Yelena's, savoring the comfort of the moment. Her actions speak louder than any words, and in the quiet intimacy of that movie night, you start to understand that healing doesn't always come from grand gestures or elaborate plans. Sometimes, it's found in the simplicity of sharing a movie, a drink, and the touch of someone who cares. And in those stolen glances and unspoken connections, you find a new layer of solace, a fragile bridge between the past and the potential for a future where happiness is not just a memory but a living, breathing reality.
You whisper in Yelena's ear, "Tasha gave me the ring." Yelena is pulled from the movie, looking down at your hand that she's been playing with. "It was a promise ring. She got it for me in Budapest. Saying when things settled down, she'd do the whole down on one knee, and we'd have this beautiful wedding where she'd wear a black dress instead of a white one. Everyone would be there, and we'd go back to Budapest for our honeymoon. When we'd come back, we'd ask for a safe house where we could just live quietly between missions..."
You don't realize you’re crying until Yelena is wiping the tears from your face. "I'm sorry... I didn't... I'm ruining movie night, aren't I?" You choke on your own sobs, but Yelena just pulls you against her, hugging you tightly. "No, you haven't ruined anything, Y/N. It's okay."
You hold onto her, shifting slightly until she's in your lap, once again feeling like a puzzle piece as we bury our faces into each other's necks. "If you had gotten married, I hope she would have come found me to be her maid of honor... though I don't know how good I'd be at that," Yelena admits.
In that vulnerable moment, amidst the shared pain and unspoken understanding, Yelena's admission brings a bittersweet smile to your face. The weight of Natasha's absence still lingers, but in Yelena's presence, you find a different kind of strength—a strength born out of shared grief, compassion, and the subtle promise of moving forward, even if it's one tear-streaked movie night at a time.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yelena wakes you up, gently calling your name and crawling onto your bed. "Y/N... Y/N..." She speaks softly, shaking your arm lightly. In your half-awake form, you turn to face her, pulling her into a tight embrace, her face against your chest. You can smell her shampoo, pomegranates, and make a noise of content. "Y/N, I have to go," Yelena whispers.
"No," You refuse, not letting her go. In fact, you hold her a little tighter. "Yes, I must. The widows need me," she insists.
"I really don't want you to go... I worry so much every time you go out that door. I know you're the world's greatest assassin, but so was Natasha before you," You confess. Yelena cups your cheeks. "I'll come back. I promise."
Natasha said those exact words too. You feel the tears in your eyes, spilling over before I have a chance to stop them. They're down your cheeks and running over her fingers. "I know words mean very little. I know Nat said similar words. I'm not leaving, though. I'll come back. It's just freeing more widows that have been found. That's all. It's safe. I promise. None of them come close to my skills."
Yelena wipes your tears and assures you that she'll come back. You know you have to let her go. "Please just come back safe, Lena. Please," You lean your forehead against hers. "I can't do this without you," You finally confess.
"I'll come back. I'll always come back. You can't get rid of me, not anymore. You're too deep into this," Yelena tells you, and you look at her, searching her face. "Lena..." Gods, you want to kiss her so badly just to show her how much you need her, but you promised Tasha...
Yelena leans in, kissing your cheek, almost reaching your lips. It's the first time she's ever kissed you in any way. "I'll be back. A few days, that's all," she reassures, placing another kiss on your cheek before she leaves. She looks at you one last time with a smile before heading out, leaving you there, curled up into a ball and crying. Now, you definitely couldn’t lose her.
The weight of her absence already looms large, and the brief touch of her lips on your cheek lingers like a promise in the air. As you try to gather yourself, the echoes of Yelena's words and the warmth of her fleeting kiss become the anchor in the storm of your fears. You know you must trust her, just as Natasha had asked you to trust her own choices.
In the solitude of your room, you cling to the hope that Yelena will return, that the few days she's away won't stretch into an eternity. The scent of pomegranates still lingers in the air, a reminder of her presence, and you find solace in the belief that your connection, however fragile, will endure the challenges that lie ahead.
"Please tell me you'll count that as the first move, Tasha?" You ask, directing your words to the air as you look at the ring on your finger. There's a moment of silent contemplation, a silent conversation with a memory.
Then, you get up and get dressed, facing the day with a mix of vulnerability and determination. The echoes of Yelena's departure still resonate in your mind, but as you glance at the ring, you find a subtle strength. The journey ahead may be uncertain, but in that quiet acknowledgment, you feel the weight of a promise made, a connection forged, and a future that holds the potential for healing and new beginnings.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Yelena kissed my cheek; she almost kissed my lips, actually," You run your fingers across your cheek and the corner of your lip. "She had to go on a mission, and she told me the same words you did before you left me forever. I broke down. I seem to do that quite a bit with her now." You’re looking at Natasha's grave. It has been two years now since she left. "Tasha, I know we had our plans, and I will never forget them, but I want to move on... I need to, and in order to do that..." You pull the ring off your finger, twisting it between your fingers. "I need to give this back to you, darling." You’re trying not to choke on your tears as they flow freely down your face. You wrap it up in a little cloth, a red one, and bury it just a little ways down. "Please be happy for me, darling. You know she'll always treat me right." You are full-blown crying as you kiss her gravestone and head back home, hoping Yelena is finally home.
As you walk away, the weight of the past feels a bit lighter, as if the act of returning the ring is a step towards embracing the future. The pain is still there, the memories still vivid, but in the tears and the quiet goodbye, there's a sense of release and a tentative hope for what lies ahead. You head back home, your heart heavy but with a flicker of anticipation, hoping Yelena's absence will soon be replaced by her comforting presence.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When Yelena comes back home, she finds you crying on the floor. She picks you up into her arms and holds you as you sob. When you finally come to from your crying session and register that she's back, you cup her cheeks and slam your lips against hers a little rougher than you intend. You soften up a bit when you realize how rough you truly were.
"You're back..." you whisper against her lips.
"I told you I'd be back," she whispers back, grabbing the back of your neck and pulling you back in. The two of you kiss, hungry and passionate, as if she's been waiting all her life for this moment. In the embrace of her arms, the pain of the past and the uncertainty of the future momentarily fade away. There's only the warmth of the present and the promise of a new chapter, where healing and love can coexist, a testament to the resilience of the heart after weathering the storms of loss.
"Yelena..." You pull back, leaning your forehead on hers.
"I've been waiting forever for that," Yelena admits.
"I know you were grieving, so I just wanted to be here for you, and I was never sure if I should act on my feelings," Yelena tells you, and you give her a soft, quick kiss this time.
"I talked with Tasha about it and promised I wouldn't make the first move," Yelena laughs. "When was this?" she questions.
"A year ago at her grave. You were on a mission, and I went to visit her just before starting up the Avengers company. I told her about how I was falling for you and to not hate me for it. The wind whipped around me, and so I promised I wouldn't make the first move. When you kissed my cheek before leaving, I took that as you making the first move. I visited Natasha yesterday and told her about it and gave back her ring. I left it with her so that I could move forward," You explain, feeling a mixture of vulnerability and relief.
Yelena brushes her thumbs against your tear-stained cheeks and listens to your words. "I promise I'll live up to your expectations. I'll do everything I can to do right by you, Y/F/N," she says, and you chuckle at the use of your full name.
"I know you will, and so does Natasha. I don't think I could be in better hands than yours, Lena," You say, feeling a sense of acceptance and hope for the future. The weight of grief begins to lift, replaced by the promise of a new chapter, and the knowledge that love, even after loss, has the power to mend and rebuild.

Tumblr media
4:03am your wife was woken by a long-awaited phone call, quickly turning over and picking up the phone, "Belova" she answers without a hint of lack of sleep in her voice. The voice on the other end of the line wastes no time in informing the highly skilled sniper that after two long, stressful, and worrying months, her wife has been found.
"Is she okay? Can I talk to her? I'll get the first flight over!" Yelena's mind is racing. She knows the stress and worry isn't over, but her commanding officer assures her that you were treated with the best of care and should be landing in the states within a few short hours. Little information was shared with the blonde who didn't take notice of the time when she called Natasha.
"Lena, it's 4am, is everything okay?" Natasha's low, raspy, and tired voice travels through the phone. Yelena once again not caring to take notice of the time, "They found her!" She replies while she gets out of bed and slides on her slippers. She can tell by the shift in Natasha's voice that the red head has shot up from her laying position, "are you sure?!"
"Positive, they said she'll be landing in New York in a few hours. Can you watch Natalia for me? Please?" Yelena asks as she walks down the hall to your daughter's bedroom, peaking her head through the crack of the door to check on the three-year-old who was asleep peacefully snuggling her favorite plushie.
"Of course, I'll be over soon" Natasha replies before hanging up the line.
Hours passed as Yelena waited patiently alone in the hospital's waiting room, 9:28am and they were still checking you out and not a single word on your wellbeing was mentioned to your wife. Small cups of coffee filled the bin as Yelena's mind ran over scenario after scenario, her right knee bouncing uncontrollably as other patients' family members came and went. Some leaving in tears of grief while others left with sighs of relief.
Lost in her thoughts, Yelena didn't even notice Natasha taking a seat beside her and placing her hand on her sister's knee. It wasn't until Natasha's thumb stroked Yelena's knee that the blonde's eyes turned to meet her sister.
"Wands has Natalia" Natasha spoke softly reading the look on her sister's face. Yelena nodded as she leant back in her chair, "any news?" Nat asked.
"Nothing" Yelena replied while she tried to fight back her tears, wanting to stay as strong as she possibly could for you.
"Mrs Belova?" a doctor asked as they entered the waiting room, Yelena's eyes shot up to meet the eyes of a tired woman as she took off her surgical cap.
"That's me" Yelena replied, standing from her chair before she could even blink. Natasha was standing beside her, both looking at the doctor for answers. Her eyes scanned the waiting room, "come with me please, somewhere more private" she replied. Her words made Yelena's stomach drop, her mind now filling with her biggest fear as she and Natasha followed the woman in scrubs with a white coat down the hall, taking a left and into a room with soldiers standing guard outside.
"Please just cut the crap, is she okay?" Yelena's eyes looked deeply into the doctor's in hopes of finding answers. The woman took a deep breath, her own eyes looking at Natasha before back at Yelena, "she's my sister, please!" Yelena added.
"Mrs Belova, your wife okay. We would like to keep her in for a week before sending home, she's malnourished and some of her injuries we are going to keep an eye on in case of an infection. She's extremely weak at the moment but physically, she will make a full recovery. I have requested that our psychiatrist comes down to speak to you, they will be able to inform you of your wife's mental health" the doctor who forgot to introduce herself explained, her name tag reading "Dr Katherine Campbell".
"I'd rather see my wife first, please" Yelena pleaded just wanting to see you for herself.
"I'm sorry but I think it's best you wait" Dr Campbell's eyes shifted to Natasha in hopes she'd help make the stressed blonde understand. Natasha looked at Yelena, placing a hand on her forearm, "let's just wait for the psychiatrist, you'll want to know everything there is" Nat agrees with the doctor just as another woman knocks and enters the room.
"Here she is" Doctor Campbell smiled softly at the other woman.
"Hi, Mrs Belova, is it?" the woman smiled, reaching her hand out to shake Yelena's, "I'm Dr Jenna Hemmings, please take a seat" she added before also shaking Natasha's hand. The four women took a seat at the large, rounded table, Yelena's knee bouncing once again as she watched the psychiatrist open up a file of documents that had your name on them.
"I'm very sorry for what you've been through over the last three months, I don't have a lot to discuss in terms of where your wife is at mentally, but, I have seen her and I from what I have seem I can give you a rough idea on what to expect" Dr Hemmings began as she looked between the two sisters.
"It's my understanding that your wife has suffered from serious and extreme torture during her captivity. I have seen many cases unfortunately and I just want to let you know that it's not going to be easy. Y/n may become distant and feel disconnected from what she knows. Who she was before the kidnapping may take some time to return, I'm going to give you a list of other psychiatrists for you to make an appointment with then Y/n feels ready to talk about the events. It's important that you do not push her to talk, if she wants too, listen.
Do you share any children together?" She goes on. Yelena nodded, "A three year old, Natalia"
"As hard as this will be on your daughter, it'll be best if she has somewhere else to stay with the first week that Y/n is home"
"You want me to keep my daughter from seeing her mother?" Yelena frowned in confusion.
"This is just until you and Y/n's psychiatrist have a better understanding of her PTSD" Dr Hemmings replied. Natasha assured Yelena that the little girl could stay with her, Wanda and the boys for as long as needed. "Can I just see my wife now? Please? whatever else you need to discuss, I'm sure we can do later" Yelena begs once more.
Dr Hemmings nodded lightly, "I'll let Dr Campbell explain your wife's injuries"
-A Week Later-
Since being home, Yelena has cared for you day in, day out. She tended to the wounds that covered your back, changing the bandages and cleaning them. She did the same for the grazes and cuts on your face, arms, legs and thighs. She showered you, clothed you and fed you, all while you could barely bring yourself to say a single word.
The bedroom was kept dark, anytime Yelena opened the blinds to let some sunlight in, you got up and closed them before getting back in to bed to sleep the day away. A psychiatrist had stopped by twice since you came home, but even she couldn't get you to speak. She suggested to Yelena that it would be in your best interest to start antidepressants which you took without a fight.
"Good morning lyubov'" Yelena spoke softly as she got on her knees in your view, your eyes glued to the dark gray wall behind her. Looking into your eyes, Yelena only saw the ghost of the woman she loved. She gently stroked your face with her left thumb, "Natalia is coming home this morning, do you feel up to seeing her?" she asked. Your eyes shifted and connected with the worried eyes of your wife's, the first time you really looked at her since the hospital. You shook her head before turning to your other side, giving Yelena the view of your clothed back.
"Okay lyubov', we'll try again tomorrow. I'll go get you some breakfast" Yelena said in defeat. She hoped that the idea of seeing your daughter would bring something new out of you, that you'd get out of bed and come downstairs for the first time.
Yelena returned 20 minutes later with toast, orange juice, your medication and some vitamins placing them on your bedside table. She kissed your cheek and whispered how much she loved you before letting you fall back asleep in the darkness.
"I miss mommy" Natalia pouted as she picked up another slice of apple from her plastic plate. "I know dorogoy, mommy isn't feeling well at the moment but she's getting better, she's getting plenty of sleep so she can play with you again" Yelena assures the little girl before placing a kiss on her forehead, "how about mac n cheese for dinner?" She asks. Natalia perks up instantly, nodding with excitement, "Mac n cheese!!!!" She claps with a mouth full of apple.
Night time came, Natalia was bathed, fed and tucked in bed fast asleep after Yelena read her a bedtime story. She can't stop her mind from remembering when you and her would read a fairytale together for the growing child, switching voices, giggles full of life filling the room before the angel drifts off to sleep. Not only did Yelena miss you, but so did Natalia. A drawing of the three of you in crayons sat on the toddlers drawing table, mommy in bed just like her mama said.
When Yelena came to bed, it was the only time you felt safe again. You instantly felt her arms wrap around you, pulling you close as she knew you'd been waiting all day for her to come back to bed. "How are you feeling detka?" She asks in a soft tone, you wanted to answer her, to give her a form of words but nothing left your lips. Tears filled your eyes as you brought her hand to your lips, kissing the top of her hand to let her know you were here, you heard her, you loved her.
-1 Month Later-
As time went on, Yelena was doing her best to give you everything you needed but her growing thoughts were becoming darker by the day. She wasn't going to push you to talk about what happened, but she couldn't help but picture just how you got the wounds on your back. She was positive they would turn into scars and she worried for when the time would come and you'd notice them never fading away. She wanted to know if you were tortured into not speaking of the events that happened, she hasn't heard your voice since you woke up in the hospital. "Just tired" were the last words she heard you speak.
The meditation didn't seem like it was working in Yelena's eyes, you still didn't have the energy to get out of bed, to talk, to eat or even shower. Natalia hounded her mama daily for when she could see her mommy and on the one chance you nodded at Yelena's request for the young girl to see you, it broke her. Natalia of course, didn't entirely understand what was wrong with you and she didn't take your actions to heart, but deep down, Yelena did. Natalia had tried to show you a drawing she did at day care, you took one look at the colorful drawing before you looked back at Yelena who was standing behind your daughter, you shook your head at her than turned to lay with your back facing them.
It wasn't until one night when Yelena had gotten into bed with you rather early, she mentioned Natalia was staying at Natasha and Wanda's for the night. She held you in silence for hours until you turned and looked at her. Tears pooled at your eyes before slowly making their way down your cheeks, your wife wiping them away gently with the touch of her thumb as she placed a loving kiss on your forehead before looking into your broken eyes once more.
"What do you need detka? How can I help you get through this?" Yelena asked and for the first time since everything, you weren't looking through her. You could see how tired she was, the stress and worry of everything creeping in on her. Slowly you sat up and took a deep breath, Yelena sat up with you keeping a close eye on your body language.
"Can I make us a hot coco?" you asked. Yelena couldn't help but smile softly as she nodded. Happy she finally heard your voice since you were at the hospital, no longer having to repeat the last words you spoke to her, "just tired" running through her head.
You returned to the bedroom with two mugs of hot coco and a large yellow envelope, placing it on the end of the bed before handing Yelena her drink. "If I tell you everything, c-can you write it down for the report, please?" you asked, sipping your drink and placing it on your bedside table. Yelena nodded without a second thought, "of course detka, are you sure you're up for this?" she asked, just to be sure.
"Are you sure you want to hear it?" you asked her in reply, worried that the details you had to share for the report would upset her. "If I am the only person you feel safe enough to tell, I am here to listen detka. I've got your back like you've got mine" she reminded you as she placed her mug on her bedside table and grabbed the envelope and pen. You took another deep breath and closed your eyes for a moment, remembering the moment you were taken captive.
"I just finished my shift, Lisa, Jasmine and I were walking back to our rooms when 3 masked men ambushed us, one grabbed Lisa and dragged her towards the bush, he had large knife to her neck. Another put a bag over Jasmine's head, they told us to keep quiet or they'd kill us. I screamed for help, but one guy hit me over the head with his gun and I blacked out. When I woke up, I had a shackle on my left ankle, my hands tied behind my back and a bag over my head.
I could hear the girls screaming and crying for help, the place smelt unbearable…like death. I tried to keep the girls calm, I told them we'd be safe soon, to keep quiet or they'd hurt us but we were all so scared.
They kept us like that for hours, days maybe. I wasn't sure, it was too dark with the bag over my head. When they came back, one guy removed the bag, he was wearing a mask and had his gun pointed directly at me. There was a small cup of water and a bread roll on the floor, he told me to eat, or he'd shoot me. I was so hungry, that when he cut me free, I don't think I even swallowed much of the roll, the water was dirty but I didn't care. I asked him about the girls, but he just kneed me in the face to shut me up.
It was like that for days until the ringleader came, he had an interpreter with him, he didn't speak one word of English. He said that if our country cared enough about us, they'd stop the war and go home and leave us behind to become slaves." You spoke slowly so Yelena could write but halfway through, she decided that typing it up would be a lot faster.
"Things got worse, every time we did something wrong, we got less food and water, a beating and placed in this room that felt like it was on fire. It was so hot in there, sometimes they threw me in there just because I didn't eat fast enough. Lisa tried to escape but they caught her, they dragged me into this room with her and ha-" you paused as tears streamed down your face.
"Detka, we can take a break, it's okay" Yelena's hands reached for yours but you shook your head, "I don't want never want to speak about this ever again, I have to do this now" you replied, wiping your tears before taking a mouthful of your hot coco.
"He handed me a gun and told me to shoot her but I couldn't. I tried to plead with him, saying she won't do it again but that just gave me a beating. He beat me with a rusty pipe wrapped with barbed wire, that's that the marks on my back are from. I've never felt so much pain…I was crying so much that eventually he grabbed me by my hair and made me watch" you paused once more, your body shaking with fear as you recalled the details of what happened to your friend. Your wife was quick to put the laptop aside and instantly wrapped you in her arms, pulling you close into her as you broke down.
Through your sobs, you continued to explain the events you endured. "T…T-they beheaded her like it was nothing! There was blood very where, I was c-crying! Screaming! They tossed her h-he…to me and told me if I didn't shut u-up that w-would be me" You gripped onto your wife for life, she held you tightly as she cried with you. Kissing the top of your head for comfort.
----
3:38am, you were passed out asleep, tired from the crying and recalling. Yelena watched over you, her arms wrapped around you. She knew it was going to be a long road of recovery ahead, but she had every faith in you.
By morning, you woke up to an empty bed, but you felt differently. You sat up, stretched and slipped into your robe before making your way downstairs to see Yelena making waffles with your daughter. You smiled softly to yourself before making yourself known to your girls.
"Mommy!!!" Natalia came running into your arms. You hugged her tightly, kissing her cheek, "you feel better?" she asked. You nodded, "a little bit my love" you replied before putting her down on her feet. Yelena turned around and smiled lovingly at you, "Natalia, can you please get your sippy cup?" she asked the little girl to distract her for a moment so she could talk to you.
"I sent your report this morning" Yelena informed you with a kiss on your cheek. "Thank you, darling" you wrapped your arms around her, "what's on your mind?" you asked her, seeing she'd been thinking.
"He's still out there" she replied, her jaw clenching at the thought of the man who tortured you for months walking free in his own country. You knew instantly from her tone what she was thinking, and you knew there would be no way to stop her, in fact, you didn't even want to stop her.
"I know and if the time comes, I don't want you to think twice" You cupped her face, "let him suffer…he's already taken enough from me, take everything from him" you added looking into her eyes. "Here mama!" Natalia's voice broke the silent agreement between you two.
It would be a year until Yelena returned to war, she wanted to stay with you until you knew well enough to look after yourself once more. Now with a four year old and your wife off finding the man who covered you in scars, physically and mentally, you made the decision to never return to the warzone but would continue your work at the veterans clinic.

Several long days dragged by without you hearing anything from Yelena. It was hard, but everytime your gut twisted as you ached for the blonde you reminded yourself that she was no doubt feeling worse. You needed to fix things. Even if you couldn’t be together, you at least wanted to be able to talk to her again because her missing presence seemed to have created a noticeable hold in your life that you had no intention of filling with anyone else.
You were laying in your bed with your laptop next to you and Marty at your feet when your phone chimed with a text from Kate. As much as you loved your best friend, you were disappointed the message wasn’t from Yelena.
Kate: Melina did some digging and found something, if I don’t text till tonight can you walk Lucky?
  You: yep, be safe!
Melina had found something? You had presumed she had stopped looking into the files like you had since coming to the end of them. Had she gone back through? Maybe found additional files you couldn’t see? You tried to shrug off the thoughts, knowing that the older Russian knew what she was doing, but you were curious more than anything else.
You turned on your computer and opened up your email chain to Melina that had ended a few weeks ago when you both declared you had gone through everything.
Kate just told me you found a lead, how’d you do it?? You typed out and sent off the email.
Much to your surprise, Melina responded within a few minutes but you stopped short when you read the simple message.
I didn’t. You froze and reread the two words again. What? Kate wouldn’t lie to you about going on a mission. You frantically opened up your phone to message the archer again, unable to ignore the nagging feeling that something was very wrong.
  Me: where are you guys??
You tapped your phone in your hand but you knew that if Kate was already on her way then she wasn’t going to be looking at her phone. So you turned back to your computer as your mind twisted between assuring you she was fine and telling you the worst case scenarios. Yelena’s experience wouldn’t lead her into a trap and even if it did she would know what to do.
You didn’t get the chance to reply to Melina, because another new email caught your attention first. The email handle looked to be a bot, but the subject line stated: hurry. An image was attached and you almost hesitated to open it.
“Fuck,” you whispered as you stared at a grainy image that was clearly Kate and Yelena in some come of abandoned warehouse. Below was a location that you knew you had no training to go to yourself. You scrambled with your phone to call Natasha, while forwarding the email to Melina, but she didn’t pick up.
“Come on, come on,” you hissed as you paced your apartment and tried again. Nothing. “Fuck!” You tried Steve and got nothing. You tried Wanda and got nothing. You tried every single person you could think of until you became aware of how much time had passed since getting the email. No one was picking up and you had no idea why, which left only you.
You ran a shaking hand through your hair as you scanned your apartment for any hint of what to do and landed on an opened drawer you hadn’t noticed before. Paranoid, you warrily stalked towards the drawer and found a black handgun inside with a sticky note on top inscribed with the letter Y. After all her insistence of you getting a gun, she had gotten one for you.
You should’ve called the police, let them handle the situation. But what if they didn’t get there in time? You didn’t have time to keep thinking about the what ifs, so instead, you grabbed the gun and left the apartment. On your way down, you called the police, giving them a brief rundown of what you thought was happening and shared the address with them, hanging up before they could query much more.
Calling a cab once outside, you tried phoning each of the avengers again as the car started towards the warehouse. It wasn’t unusual for all of the avengers to go on a mission together, but something about the timing of it didn’t sit right with you. You couldn’t linger on what you couldn’t control though, instead forcing yourself to come up with some kind of plan. You came up blank.
I’m just a hacker, I should get this guy to turn around and let the police deal with it. You thought. But what if they got there too late? What if you got the call and news you had nightmares about receiving. You couldn’t lose them. You reminded yourself of that when the warehouse came into view and instructed the driver to stop round the corner.
Your heart rattled against your ribcage as you stood outside the warehouse and pulled your gun from inside your jacket. This is so goddamn reckless, you thought as you inched the main door open and slipped inside. You kept low, scanning the area for any signs of life. It was unnervingly quiet. Every step you took, no matter how gentle, bounced off of the walls. I really shouldn’t be here.
~
Natasha leant forwards as she scanned over the email she had just received from Melina. “What’s up?” Yelena asked as she watched her sister’s brow furrow. Natasha showed her screen to the blonde who frowned as she took in the image of her and Kate in a location she couldn’t recall ever having been in with the archer.
“It’s from Melina. Y/n forwarded it to her,” Natasha explained as she looked through the text. “Apparently Kate told her you were on a mission there.” The pair paused, their brains connecting the same dots as Yelena pulled up Kate’s contact while Nat pulled up yours. Kate picked up, you didn’t.
“Kate Bishop, did you tell y/n we are on a mission?” Yelena demanded as she looked to her sister, seeing that you weren’t answering.
“No? Why?” The archer asked. Yelena cursed in Russian.
“Get ahold of her now,” she ordered and hung up. “You don’t think she’s gone there?” Yelena questioned, though they were both already grabbing their jackets.
“I do,” Natasha confirmed. “God, she’s an idiot.”
The hands that held the handgun in front of you were shaking and you knew it wasn’t just because of the cold. But with every step you took, you reminded yourself that Yelena and Kate had to be around the space somewhere and that you needed to get to them before someone else did. You had hoped to have heard the sirens already too.
“Long time no see,” you spun around on the spot, your eyes flickering across the space in the direction of the voice that you could never forget. “Hey, baby,” Rae greeted as she stepped out from behind a stack of crates, a menacing axe hanging loosely by her side. She sauntered towards you, an easy grin on her lips as you stood frozen.
“What? I don’t get a hello after all this time?” She asked with a fake pout.
“What are you…what?” You stared at the raven haired woman who you foolishly assumed you would never see again.
“How am I? Oh, I’m great thanks for asking, even after that stunt you pulled,” she hissed, continuing to stalk the area around you. “That got me in a lot of trouble, you know? All because you wanted to be selfish bitch,” as she spoke, she let the axe drop against the floor and scrape against the concrete next to her as she moved. You eyed the weapon warily, knowing you should use your own.
“Don’t you have anything to say?” You didn’t. You couldn’t rake your brain for anything to say to the woman before you. “No apology for abandoning your girlfriend?”
“Fuck you,” you hissed, taking you both by surprise. Rae chuckled, bemused by the agitation you had never shown her when you were together.
“Where was that bit of fight back when you needed it?” She asked with a mocking grin that made your stomach twist. Your hands began to rattle again as images of your past flashed in front of your eyes.
No, you couldn’t think about that. You couldn’t let her succeed in getting into your head.
“Shut up,” you tried to shout, but your voice wavered. Rae grinned more.
“Or what? You gonna shoot me? You never fought back when I hit you, or when I fucked you.”
“Stop!” You managed to yell, though the tears threatening to spill through didn’t help.
“Maybe all those times you said no you actually wanted it.”
You fired. And missed. Rae was faster than you remembered her being, within a second she knocked the gun out of your hands and made you stumble to the floor. Your back collided with the dark concrete though you didn’t feel the pain of the impact because you were too concerned with putting as much distance between you and Rae as you could when she was sauntering towards you. She chuckled as she watched you try to scramble away.
“I knew you would come here when I sent you that email,” she told you. “You always were so curious, sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong. But you know what they say, baby, curiosity killed the cat,” she warned you in such a tell-tale way that didn’t expect her to bring the axe down on your leg a second later.
You screamed as the searing pain shot from your calf where the axe was embedded. Rae pulled the blade out with a grunt and you immediately made to get up until she swung again at your unguarded back, knocking what left like every last breath out of you. You collapsed and forced yourself onto your back to look up at Rae and try to dodge her next move. The weapon was heavy, she wouldn’t be able to be agile with it.
“You have no idea what consequences your fuck up had for me,” she told you, her anger coming to the surface in a way you couldn’t avoid. She brought the axe down again and you were unable to dodge it entirely, instead having it lodged in your side. You howled in agony, feeling the blade dig into your ribs so prominently that you didn’t even notice how wet the back of your shirt was with blood.
“The things I had to endure as punishment,” Rae continued as she pulled the axe free, taking what felt like a pound of your flesh with her. “I’ve waited years to give you your fair share of the pain, the least you could do is accept it.” You didn’t feel where the next hit fell. You only felt your body shake with the impact and the grotesque sound of it embedding itself in you.
“The…police…will come,” you struggled to tell her with a mouth full of blood that came bubbling up from your throat. When you heard her laugh in response, you knew you were fucked.
“Same way the Avengers will? You didn’t call the police, malysh. No one’s coming for you,” she told you, bringing the axe down again.
~
Natasha and Yelena didn’t exchange a single word as they stood either side of the entrance door. They had been through situations like that one enough times to rehearse it in their sleep and that was what they reminded themselves as they exchanged a swift nod: that it was a standard rescue mission. The moment they let it get personal was when mistakes would be made and they couldn’t afford any.
The Russian’s scanned the vast room as they stalked amongst the crates with long since faded brand imprints. Their footsteps were silent as they listened out for a single pin drop, anything to indicate where you could be. They didn’t hear a thing, though Natasha’s voice was the one to break through the tension.
“Get Stark down here now,” she ordered.
“What? What have you found?” Yelena asked as met her sister’s unnerved eyes and tried to look at the space she had come from.
“Yelena,” Natasha warned with a firm hand to the blonde’s chest.
“No, what is it?” She tried, shoving her sister away only for her to be pushed back in response.
“Don’t look,” Natasha pleaded. The waver in her voice made Yelena pause for a brief moment before she charged on to look around the other side of the crates, stumbling upon what she found.
“It’s alright,” Natasha assured, trying to reflect her confidence in her tone but it was difficult when she didn’t feel it herself. Yelena hardly heard, her focus entirely on the pool of crimson. “Stark has the technology to scan the area for her, she can’t be far,” the redhead continued as she placed a hand on Yelena’s hand, wanting her away from the scene you had left them.
Even as the blonde allowed herself to be turned around, the image of the deep red splatters stained into the crates several metres away from the main puddle lingered behind Yelena’s eyes. She didn’t listen as her sister called her billionaire friend, far too stuck in her own head and wondering what state she would find you in - because she would find you.
“Thanks, Tony,” Natasha said as she hung up the phone and took an anxious glance towards her sister. “He’ll be here in ten,” she told Yelena who didn’t respond. The redhead cursed internally, feeling the weight of the moment settle on both of their stomachs.
She had been too harsh with you that night, saying things she didn’t mean just as you had but making you suffer for it all the same, just because she could see that Yelena was. Natasha knew, then more than ever, that you would never set out to hurt her little sister, not when you were so quick to blindly save her. She would tell you all that when she saw you again, she promised herself.
Natasha was interrupted from those thoughts when her phone vibrated once in her hand. The redhead looked at her screen and saw she had a message from an unknown number. Frowning, she opened the text and immediately felt an anchor tied around her guts drop. On the screen was an image of you in the back of an unclear car, unconscious, shirt stained scarlet. There were wounds she couldn’t examine properly because bile was rising in her throat and she didn’t want her sister to notice. She couldn’t see that picture. Ever.
The redhead’s sickness subsided the moment she read the text beneath the picture, moving aside for the anger that began to rise and threatened to bubble over the surface. Natasha took a deep breath to steady herself as she glared at the screen, resisting the impulse to snap the device in half.
  Too late : (
~
Stay calm, recall what you know.
That was what Natasha had taught you when you first met. She had taught you a lot, but in that moment that lesson was the only one you were capable of recalling.
You were fluctuating between consciousness. You were in the trunk of a car. You were being taken. You were badly injured. It was Rae.
Rae… the pain she had inflicted was unlike anything you thought was possible to experience. You had no idea how many times she had swung that axe down on you, some parts of your body hurt more than others, but there was an inescapable alarm going off amongst your nerves and major organs telling you that it was bad. Really really fucking bad.
She had hit muscle and bone, but you were unsure what else had been punctured. You knew that the blood in your mouth meant something critical had been attacked, but it couldn’t be something so significant because you were acutely aware of the fact that you were still alive. You may very well be dying, just not yet.
It would be okay, someone would come for you. You just weren’t sure they would come in time.

You thought that when the time came, you would be a bundle of nerves.
But with just one look at your reflection in the mirror, you felt like this is what you had been waiting for your whole life. That exciting feeling, but not nerves at all, was crawling up to your whole body. You were eager to take this new step in your life.
Marrying Florence just felt as natural as breathing. No second guessings, no doubts, nothing. You just couldn’t wait for the best night of your life to start and share it with your loved ones.
A knock startled your train of thoughts.
“We are ready when you are,” Raffie said, unable to contain her smile.
“I’ve been ready for almost three years now,” you chuckled, getting a last look at the mirror, making sure your wedding suit was in perfect shape.
You thought you would be edgy while walking down the aisle, but once again you were wrong. Normally, all those people looking at you would make you all flustered and stressed out. But as you looked around, you could feel the love your family and friends had for you and Florence that it was hard to be nervous at all.
Your mum and dad, each, left a kiss on your cheeks wishing you the best and leaving you at the altar, waiting for your other half.
The moment your eyes lied on Florence you felt your tummy shrink into a knot. She always took your breath away, but now, walking toward you, wearing the most magnificent white dress felt like falling in love with her even more, if that was possible.
As she kissed her mum and dad goodbye and stood next to you, your brain was still trying to find the right words and all you could do was mutter out incomprehensible words, making her laugh at you.
“I take it you like it?”
“Do I like it? It’s pure perfection,” you looked at her with heart-shaped eyes. “I mean… I would like it even more off, but we’ll get to that later, right?” you muttered the last part, but everyone on the front rows heard you loud and clear, making them chuckle.
Someone clearing their throat caught your attention.
“We are all gathered here today to celebrate the marriage of Florence and Y/n,” he started.
“There’s no need to be so formal, Tobs,” Florence chuckled as her brother began his duties as the wedding officer.
He completely ignored her and continued on, “I never thought I would see the day that one of the humans I care most in this world would be getting married, but here we are,” he said with a smile on his face. “And I can't believe that person is marrying my little sister,” he joked. “Seriously, Y/n, now is the time to turn back.”
You felt your nerves washing away by laughter as Florence gave Toby the death glare, making everyone in the room laugh as well.
“Okay, I’m done with the jokes. But in all seriousness, I couldn’t be happier for the two of you. Alright, enough with my words, I believe you two have your own vows, right? Flor, care to go first?”
The blonde nodded to her brother and got her eyes on your frame, as she took your hands in between hers, she began her speech.
“It’s funny, you know. When I sat down to write this, I thought I would have so much to say to you,” she said as her eyes got watery. “But not really,” your heart sank at her words, you were not expecting that. “You see, there are not enough words to express my feelings toward you,” she cleared her throat to stop the lump from forming. “There really isn't. But because you mean everything to me, I’ll try to put it into words. You are the air in my lungs, the blood running through my veins, the atoms that make me. You are just my other half, my better half. And I genuinely believe I couldn’t live without you. So, today I completely give myself to you, knowing that you will take me.”
You were a crying mess, sobbing so hard that Toby had to hand you some tissues.
“I love you so much, Y/n. I couldn’t be happier that I get to call you mine.”
“Fuck,” you muttered as you wiped away your tears. “Did I ruin my make-up?” you asked, turning to your family making them laugh once again.
“That was… actually really sweet, Flor. Gob job,” Toby congratulated his sister. “Now, Y/n, it’s your turn to make us all cry.”
“I should've gone first, there is no way I am beating that up,” you joked. You cleared your throat. “So, when Florence and I met, believe it or not, we kinda hated each other,” everyone in the room gasped. “Yeah, I know, it’s crazy. Turns out we were just horny.”
“Y/n!” Florence gently smacked you.
“Okay, no. That’s a lie, I was the horny one,” you laughed. “But either way, it doesn’t change the fact that the moment I had a piece of you, the real you, I just couldn't get enough. You intoxicated me, you were a drug and I became an addict depending on you. You still have that power over me and you will have it until the day that I die. And it’s funny because, I used to believe I disliked you, but then I realised you were just so easy to love. Loving you is like breathing, I don’t think about it, I just do. And I know that if I ever stop loving you, it’s because I stopped breathing. And all I want to do, until that day comes, is to love you as if I was taking my last breath,” you squeezed her hands to which she muttered, afraid the words wouldn’t come out of her lips properly, an ‘I love you’ with tears running down her cheeks.
“That was really sweet, too,” Toby said, wiping away a tear. “So,” he said once he gathered himself, “with that being said. I declared, the two of you, married,” you and Florence couldn't contain your smiles. “You may kiss the… oh, you two are already at it,” Toby interrupted himself as he saw Florence kissing your lips like her life depended on it. And, maybe, it did.
[...]
Someone clicking their fork to their champagne glass caught both Florence’s and your attention, your heart sank with excitement as you watched your parents trying to get everyones’ attention.
“Good evening, everyone,” your mum started. “We just couldn’t stop ourselves,” she chuckled.
“We won’t tell you about Y/n’s embarrassing moments, that’s for the bridesmaid,” your dad joked as he winked at you. “But we do have some words for both of you,” he smiled at you and your wife.
“We just wanted to say thank you, to you Florence. Our baby has never looked this happy and it is all because of you, and as parents we couldn't be more thankful for that,” your mum said. “There’s not a single day that she goes by without a smile, and you are the reason behind that smile. So, thank you.”
You took a quick look at Florence, and her eyes were already watery, once again. She could only nod at her, since she believed no words would come out of her lumped throat.
“And, Y/n, baby. We are so happy you found someone as amazing as Florence. As your dad, it gives me peace of mind knowing that you get to share the rest of your life with her, since she’s just everything I could ever dream for you.”
You mouthed and ‘I love you’ to your parents, with glassy eyes.
“If I may add,” Flor’s dad chimed in. “We also have something we want to say,” he chuckled as he gestured to his wife to get up with him as well. “I believe you've already heard this a million times already, Y/n. But, Deb and I just can't stress this enough. We are delighted for you to be part of our ‘little’ family.”
“We love you as if you were one of our own, Y/n. And it just means the word that you love our baby girl just as much as we do,” Deborah, Florence’s mum, said to you. “So, here’s to the newly married couple,” she said, raising her glass as everyone followed suit.
“Wait!” you heard someone scream. “I also want to say,” your best friend and bridesmaid said. “This isn’t part of the bridesmaid’s speech, but I just couldn’t miss the opportunity,” she made the whole room chuckled. “I’ve known Y/n pretty much my entire life. Where she went I would follow and where I went I just had to look over my shoulder and I knew she would be there. The thing is, you and I, we had been through thick and thin,” she said looking at you. “And now, it’s your freaking wedding day. I couldn’t be prouder and happier for you, Y/n. Florence might be your other half, but you know you and I are the same. And I am just so relieved that you have found her, someone who sees and loves you for who you are,” she smiled at the both of you. “So, finally, here’s to the newly married couple.”
Everyone cheered as they drank from their champagne glass.
“Okay, enough with the cheesy speeches for the moment,” you heard Raffie, pretty much taking over the schedule of the wedding as Florence’s bridesmaid. “It’s time for the wedding waltz,” the little Pugh looked at you and Florence and gestured for the two of you to do your part.
“Shall we?” you said, sticking out your hand for Florence to take, wiping away your tears as Florence did the same.
“Yes, we shall,” she couldn't contain the smile forming on her lips.
“It’s perfect, isn’t it?” you muttered into her ear as she led the dance, like she always would.
“Yeah, it’s more than perfect,” she said, snuggling into you. “You know, this is it, right? No turning back, you heard Toby.”
“Yep, loud and clear. But I wouldn't change it for anything in the word,” you kissed her neck. “I love you.”
“I love you.”

Second Chance - Chapter 12

It was a combination of things that woke Yelena up. There was a stiffness in her neck, and the smell of food pulled her out of sleep. She rubbed her eyes to push away the sleep and sat up quickly. Where was she? This wasn’t in her room. Instead, she was still on your couch in your suite. “Oh, you’re up,” Yelena said towards the sound of your voice. You were in the kitchen. “Breakfast is almost done. I wasn’t sure what you liked, so I made everything.” Yelena chuckled at your awkwardness as she stood up and stretched her arms above her head, ignoring how your eyes glanced at her shirt move and reveal her stomach.
Eggs and bacon were already made, and you were pouring pancake batter into a hot pan. There was coffee brewing in the pot with syrup, butter, and creamer for the coffee out on the counter. A weird feeling bloomed in Yelena’s stomach, but she pushed it away. “Thank you for cooking,” she began to put together her plate. “Sorry, I fell asleep here.” You poured two cups of coffee and put some food on your plate. Yelena was glad to see you eating.
“It was my fault I fell asleep on you,” you smiled. “What’s your plan for today?” Your back was to her as you focused on the pancake you were making. Yelena was struggling with how domestic this all felt. She couldn’t stop her mind from creating a scenario in her head. After a mission, she would come home and fall asleep with your arms around her. Then, she would wake up to the smell of breakfast. Maybe she could convince Stark to let Fanny stay in the tower. “Yelena, is my food that bad it’s rendered you speechless?” Her cheeks blushed at being caught.
“Sorry,” she mumbled. “I was stuck in my head. What did you say?” You smiled and played with the ring on your finger. Oh, you were not making this easy for her.
“What do you have going on today?” There was a lot she needed to do. Her mission report still needed to be completed. She needed to call Melina for an update on the remaining Widows under Dreykov’s control. She couldn’t remember if she had a meeting with Maria or Natasha. Instead of telling you all that, she shook her head.
“I’ve got nothing going on,” you were quiet as you flipped the pancake. “Would you like to do something?” She tried to keep the hope out of her voice. Sighing, you turned to face her with your arms crossed.
“I have a doctor’s appointment in about two hours,” you said slowly. “Would you like to go with me?” It was rare that Yelena was speechless. “I mean, you don’t have to. You are probably busy, but we can do something when I’m done. If you-”
“Dorogoy,” the Russian pet name, flowed so easily off her tongue that it caught you off guard. You tilted your head, silently asking what she said. “If you want me to come with you, I will.” She saw it as an incredible honor and a great deal of trust. She wasn’t going to waste it. You smiled.
“Okay, we’ll finish breakfast and meet on the common floor.” Yelena sipped her coffee and watched you make more pancakes. You seemed different while you cooked. Your posture was relaxed. You were humming to a tune Yelena wasn’t familiar with and danced to whatever song you were singing. You looked happy. It took a lot of self-control for Yelena to remain in her seat when she wanted to join you.
*
When you opened your door, you weren’t expecting to see Tony in front of you. “Oh, hi,” you smiled and closed the door behind you. “What can I do for you this fine morning?” You opened your bag to ensure you had your wallet, phone, and a small sketchbook.
“You have a doctor’s appointment today, right?” You nodded, and both walked over to the elevator. “Is someone going with you?”
“Yes,” you bite your lip. “Uh, Yelena is coming with me,” the man grabbed your arm to stop you before left the elevator.
“Belova is going with you,” he said, pulling you to the couch. “Why?” That was a great question, and you weren’t sure how to answer. It felt right.
“I want her too,” you shrugged. “And we may hang out after, so it made sense,” you said, sitting on the couch and dropping your bag onto the floor. He stared at you, blinking a few times, then his brown eyes squinted at you.
“Are you and Belova sleeping together?” he bluntly asked. Your eyes went wide, and you felt your body heat up.
“No,” you said quickly. Tony gave you a pointed look and sat down next to you. “We are just hanging out. Besides, I don’t do relationships with this going on,” you crossed your arms. “It wouldn’t be fair to the person I was seeing.”
“Well, whatever you do, use protection,” you groaned, throwing your head back. He was so annoying with that. The smile on his face told you all you needed to know. He liked pushing his buttons. “Are you telling Dr. Carpenter about Morgan?” Damn, that was a mood killer.
“Yup,” you popped the ‘p’. He nodded and stood up.
“I don’t care what you do after, but can you come back here to discuss the next steps?” You nodded, and he kissed your forehead. It was subconscious to lean into his touch. You watched the man head towards his lab. With a sigh, you placed your elbows on your knees and covered your face with your hands. It clicked on why you asked. Yelena instead of Tony, Pepper, or even Kate. She wasn’t going to try to convince you to change your mind. She said it herself; she was there to support you and not change your mind. But where are you making the right choice?
A body sat down next to you. Glancing between your fingers, you saw it was Kate and smiled. However, your smile dropped when you saw the worried look on her face. “Are you and Blondie good?” You chuckled that she used the nickname you gave the Black Widow.
“Yeah, Yelena and I are good.” Her eyes went wide; you thought they would pop out of her head. You chuckled and shook your head. “She apologized, and we decided to try this friendship again.” You winced at the term.
“Did you just friend zone here?” Kate questioned. You sighed. The archer laughed, pumping her shoulder against you. “I’m joking. I know this whole thing is complicated.” That was one way to describe it. You were so terrified of these feelings that were developing for Yelena. You wished you met her under different circumstances. “Just be honest with her,” she squeezed your shoulder as the elevator doors opened, and Yelena stepped onto the floor. She wore black fitted jeans with combat books that came to her ankles. As your eyes trailed up, her white top was cropped, and a long yellow plaided jacket was over her shoulders. “You are starring,” Kate mumbled. You snapped out of it and stood up suddenly, picking up your bag. You heard Kate chuckle next to you, but your eyes stayed on Yelena.
“Ready?” You asked. The blonde smiled.
“I am if you are,” you waved goodbye to Kate and reentered the elevator.
“Thank you for coming with,”
“No place I’d rather me.”
*
“Are you nervous?” Yelena asked as the nurse left when she took your vitals. Your leg wouldn’t stop shaking. Today would be the day you were going to tell Dr. Carpenter there was a match for the bone marrow transplant. You were terrified about how he’d take the news. You felt a hand on your shaking leg, and you jumped. “Shit, sorry,” Yelena went to pull her hand away, but you kept it there. The skin her hand touched felt on fire, but your leg stopped shaking.
“Were you talking to me?” The blonde chuckled.
“I was.” Oh. Your body felt warm from embarrassment. “I asked if you were okay.” Sighing, you shrugged.
“Just want to get this over with,” when the door opened, she removed her hand, and you hated how much you missed it.
“There she-Oh!” Dr. Carpenter stopped himself when he saw the blonde sitting in the corner. “I don’t believe we’ve met,” he extended his hand to her. “Lucas Carpenter,” her eyes went up to her eyebrows as she hesitantly took his hand. He violently shook her arm, almost toppling out of her chair. You cleared your throat to cover the laugh that nearly escaped.
“This is Yelena,” you said to your doctor. The Black Widow was still recovering from her shock. “She’s a friend.” You ignored the way his lips curled up at the end. “So,” you folded your hands and placed your hands in your lap. “I have something to tell you.” The hope is his eyes almost stopped you from lying. Your mouth became dry, and you could no longer look at him. “Tony couldn’t find a match,” the lie tasted bitter on your tongue. You heard the shaky breath the doctor let out. Glancing over at Yelena, she was watching you intently. Her eyes were soft, but she kept her mouth shut. You were grateful for that.
“Okay,” the doctor said. So here’s what we do.” His voice became white noise. The stuff he was saying was important, and you knew that, but you couldn’t bring yourself to listen. You were so tired, and all you wanted was a hug from your mom.
*
Yelena watched you leave with the nurse to take your blood. Dr. Carpenter sighed and rubbed his forehead. “She’s lying to me, right?” The blonde never trusted medical professionals when it came to her injuries, and maybe it was breaking your trust.
“She is,” Yelena admitted. “Her half-sister is a match, but she does not want her to go through it.” The doctor nodded and stood up.
“This is going to be very hard for her,” he told the blonde. “The best way to help her is to keep her spirits high. If she loses faith, then all will be lost.”
Your doctor’s words rang through her head as she waited for you. ‘Keep her spirits high.’ Yelena saw how you sank into yourself while he told you the changes to your treatment. She quickly texted Kate to bring her motorcycle to her location. The archer was quick to call her. “Are you dying? Do you have a gun to your head?” The Black Widow rolled her eyes.
“I’m outside her doctor’s office. I’m fine,” she deadpanned.
“You never let me touch your bike. Even when I wanted to take America on a date,” that was true; her bike was her baby. Not even her sister was allowed to touch it. Yelena glanced at the door. Through the window, she saw you speaking with the receptionist.
“Has she told you?” Yelena questioned. “About Morgan?”
“Yes, she told you?” The surprise tone didn’t hurt the blonde. It surprised her that you told her the truth.
“She told her doctor today, and I want to make her smile again.”
“That is so cute,” Kate cooed. “I’ll bring it over now.”
“Who are you on the phone with?” Yelena jumped at your sudden appearance. She hung up quickly, not offering another word to Kate.
“You,” she placed her hand over her chest. The organ was thumping against her hand. “You almost gave me a heart attack.” You giggled, and Yelena knew it was the best sound in the world, even if it was at her expense.
“Come on, let’s get back to the tower,” you started to walk towards her car.
“Actually,” she grabbed your hand and spun you around. The action caught you off guard, and you stumbled against her chest. “Well, hello there,” you rolled your eyes and took a step back. Yelena couldn’t stop the frown that formed on her face. There is a coffee shop nearby that I want to try. Care to join me?” You smiled.
“Are you buying?” You asked, linking her arm with yours.
“It would be fun if I let a pretty lady pay.” Your body shook against hers.
“Shut up.”
*
You knew what she was doing. Every joke and story she told was trying to brighten your mood. It was hard not to smile or laugh at her stories. Still, this heaviness surrounded you. It was the same feeling when the doctors told you that your mom was never going to wake up. Dark. Heavy. Sad. So you tried to smile and fake it, but Yelena saw right through it. It was her eyes. They were so expressive. You found yourself getting lost in them over the coffee and pastries.
She held open the door for you to exit the cafe, and your eyes landed on a motorcycle that wasn’t there when you walked into the restaurant. You whistled. “Now that is a nice bike.” Your mom was never a fan of motorcycles, so you admired them from afar. The body of the bike was chrome black with red accents.
“I didn’t know you were into bikes,” you shrugged.
“I think they are kind of sexy,” the blonde laughed, walked over it, and climbed on the back. “What are you doing?” She picked up the helmet.
“This beauty is mine. He is a Ducati Panigale V2 with a 955 cc V-twin engine,” she explained. “He is the only man I trust between my legs.” She winked at you. You laughed so hard that you snorted, which caused Yelena to laugh. “Get on,” she said once you’ve calmed down.
“Excuse me?” you asked. The idea of being that close to her made you panic.
“I want to take you somewhere,” Yelena said, handing you the helmet you slowly took from her.
“I have to go back to the tower,” you told her. Tony wants to know what Dr. Carpenter said.” It was a weak excuse, but it was the only thing you could think of, so you did not have to get on the bike.
“Your father can wait a few hours, and I will take the blame for it,” she held out her hand. Do you trust me?” Your stomach and heart screamed yes! You trusted her for only knowing her for such a short time, but your logical brain held you back. Your brain was trying to protect your heart.
“I trust you,” your heart said. You took her hand, and she held it until you got on.
“Helmet on,” you said, placing the helmet on your head and tightening the strap under your chin. Perfect! I’ll take it slow, but lean when I lean, and hold on tight.” You let out a shaky breath and moved closer to her, wrapping your arms around her waist. You huffed.
“It’s so unfair how warm you are,” the rumble of her laughter made you smile, and you rested your head on her back.
“Hold on tight, krasivvy (beautiful),” she said over the bike’s roar, and you held on tight, trusting her with all your might.

What If...Black Widow Left Her World Behind?
Tumblr media
Here's another What If...? Crossover Idea I've been working on for a while, based on a few corners of the MCU's past.
---------------------------
In this universe, Ver's fellow Starforce compatriots intercepted the Skrull Command ship before Talos had the chance to use their mind-scanning device on her, allowing her to escape as a massive dogfight ensued between the two battle cruisers.
---------------------------
During the ensuing spacefight, a rogue Skrull craft was shot down went off course, crash-landing on C-53 in Mount Vernon, Ohio, landing near the homestead of a young Natasha Romanoff and Yelena Belova.
Upon hearing the crash in their backyard, the two of them ran outside to see what the commotion was, where they found the Skrull Ship laying in their backyard. The two sisters slowly approached the vehicles, only to hide behind the remains of their swingset as the injured Skrull pilot stumbled out of the vehicle, collapsing on the ground a few feet from the craft.
As Nat attempted to examine the unconscious warrior in front of them, a curious Yelena ran over to the Skrull ship, climbing into the cockpit and messing around with the buttons. Nat ran over to the craft, trying to get Yelena out of the pod, only to fall inside of it herself as Yelena accidentally activated the craft, sending the pod flying off into the space with the two of them inside it.
---------------------------
Nat and Yelena flew off in the spacecraft for moments, only to be caught in a Tractor Beam by The Helion, who took the craft with them as they returned to Hala, assuming they caught a Skrull survivor.
As Starforce prepared to take on the Skrull combatants, Vers opened the pod, finding Nat and Yelena still inside of it. As the two sisters emerged from the pod, Nat grabbed on of Att-Lass's guns, trying to defend herself and Yelena from danger. The rest of Starforce readies themselves, believing the two of them were Skrulls, until Vers stepped in, telling them to stand down until they knew for sure they were Skrulls.
Vers then slowly approached Nat, telling her that they were friendly, and that they wouldn't hurt her or Yelena. Feeling some sense of sincerity in Vers, Nat relinquished her weapon, putting her trust in Vers.
---------------------------
After interrogating the two of them and learning of their past within the Red Room, the crew determines the sisters are human, but divided on what to do with them. Some of Starforce including Yon-Rogg believe they should return them to C-53.
Vers, on the other hand, objects to the idea, saying that if they do then the so-called "Red Room" will turn them into agents of infiltration and destruction like the Skrulls. She then volunteers to look after the girls herself, a decision everyone is reluctant to accept, but Vers vehemently stands her ground, feeling sympathy for them. Everyone eventually caves, but Yon-Rogg warns her to keep a close eye on them.
---------------------------
In the following two and half years after taking them in, Vers does her best to help Nat and Yelena adjust to their new environment, becoming a mother of sorts to them.
- Nat and Yelena are given Kree blood transfusions and new codes to help them identify themselves.
- Nat is enrolled in the Kree Combat Academy, raising quickly to the top of her class as the top student.
- Yelena finds comfort in her new cosmic lifestyle from Hala, learning about all the different planets and worlds outside of Earth. She also becomes intrigued by Vers' powers, finding her bioluminescent abiilities astounding.
- Vers still suffers from the effects of the Skrull mind-reading device, continuing to ponder about the pieces of her past, trying to put them together with any help from the girls she can get.
- The search for the Skrulls and their "superweapon" continues, but without any leads from Vers, Talos and the remaining Skrulls have retreated into the further corners of the galaxy.
---------------------------
One day, after picking Nat and Yelena up from class, Vers surprises the girls with a trip to on of the Kree colonies as part of an escort mission on Planet M-67. During the trip, however, the escort gets ambushed by a strange assassin who bombs part of colony, causing a panic.
As Vers moves to protect the ambassador, she then notices the masked assassin approaching from behind Nat and Yelena in the crowd, immediately blasting her before she can grab them. Vers takes the girls and moves through the streets of the Colony, attempting to evade the assassin. However, the trio gets cut off as the assassin lands directly in front of them, engaging Vers in combat.
Vers attempt to use her powers to take down the assassin, only to discover she has the same powers as her. The fight thankfully manages to end when Nat shoots the assassin with a Kree pistol, incapacitating her.
Vers unmasks the assassin, and she, Nat, and Yelena are shocked to discover that it is not only human, but also a brainwashed Black Widow agent. Everyone of them is stunned at the sight, when they suddenly see a strange label on her bracelets' display screen, with the words "Icepick Protocol" on display in Russian.
---------------------------
The Widow was taken to the Kree Supreme Intelligence, where they quickly removed the mental barriers keeping her from telling them her information. After coming to, Yon-Rogg ordered her to start giving them information as to why they were on M-67.
She told them she'd been sent by General Dreykov of the Red Room to retrieve Natasha Romanoff and Yelena Belova for him, and given cosmic-level enhancements to make her more powerful for intergalactic field-work. Before Vers could ask how many of them there were, the Widow then broke free of her restraints, killing herself before they could get any more answers.
---------------------------
After hearing this, Vers attempted to persuade the Supreme Intelligence to let her go to C-53 to confront Dreykov, believing this is somehow connected to her strange memory lapses. The Intelligence refused, forcing Vers to take drastic action to protect her adopted daughters, deciding to sneak her off the planet herself to take down Dreykov.
As she was exiting Hala in her ship The Hoopty, Vers was soon surprised to find Nat and Yelena stowed away in the cargo hold. Despite some initial arguing, Vers eventually caved, allowing them to tag along under the belief that Dreykov would just send more enhanced Widows to Hala to take them again.
---------------------------
After a while Vers, Nat, and Yelena finally arrive at C-53 to find some answers to the Icepick Protocol. Natasha uses her knowledge of the Red Room to determine that either Melina Vostakoff or Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian may be the best key to determining the source of the Icepick Protocol, since both were Dreykov's right hand lieutenants.
After managing to hack into the World Wide Web, they soon find that Alexei was incarcerated in the Seventh Circle Prison in Russia, so they covertly travel to the prison, managing to break Alexei out without being detected. Alexei, although overjoyed to see Nat and Yelena was met with a cold reception from both children.
Vers gets right to the point, asking Alexei about the Icepick Protocol, to which he explains that when Natasha and Yelena disappeared in '95, Dreykov called both him and Melina back as their cover for the infiltration of the North Institute was soon blown.
However, thanks to their moles inside of S.H.I.E.L.D. they were able to find out from the deceased Skrull of the existence of a Power Core belonging to Wendy Lawson, one that could give it's user powers similar to Vers. Thus, he began what he called the Icepick Protocol, sending out Superpowered Widows to spread Dreykov's will across the galaxy.
When Melina and Alexei tried to stop him, Alexei was imprisoned while Melina was forced to become his chief scientist for the project. Vers correctly determines that the Power Core must be the same Skrull Superweapon the Kree have been searching for.
Natasha then asks how Dreykov found the Core, to which Alexei says the mole found a Black Box with the coordinates to the Core included. Vers then tells them to take them there, to which he agrees, happy to have one more family adventure with Nat and Yelena however, none of them are in a happy mood about the situation.
---------------------------
The group began their journey to the Red Room's new base of operations, The Bolshevik. Vers piloted The Hoopty into the base, surprised to find it is a former Kree Battle Cruiser. After successfully docking and infiltrating the base, the group moved quickly and quietly to where Dreykov's office was located, finding the Tesseract located within the room. They also find hidden inside the walls' airducts none other than Goose the Flerken, whom Yelena takes an immediately liking to.
Their attempts to take it are halted by none other than Melina Vostakoff, who holds Alexei at gunpoint demanding to know what they are doing there; Natasha stops Melina from opening fire, telling her they just came for the Tesseract. Vers then recognizes Melina as Nat and Yelena's adoptive mother, marking the moment as an awkward family reunion before asking Melina how Dreykov got a hold of a Kree Battle Cruiser. It's only when Melina closely examines Vers voice that she recognizes her as the woman from the Black Box.
Confused, they all then gathered at the nearby computer to listen to the Black Box Dreykov found, with Melina revealed they found it during the widespread search for Nat and Yelena. Listening to the events that transpired eight years ago with Vers and Mar-Vell. After hearing what was on the recording, Vers reclaimed her memories as Carol Danvers, learning that Yon-Rogg killed Mar-Vell and took her to Hala.
Most everyone is taken aback by the truth about the Kree using Carol her as a weapon. Alexei attempts to lighten the situation, only Nat to shut him up and scold Alexei and Melina, calling them cowards. Melina's attempts to justify herself only set off Carol, calling them out for even letting the possibility of Nat and Yelena going back to the Red Room even pass by in their heads, and for what's worse, fabricating their entire family as lie to serve a twisted madman.
Melina then pointed out that Vers never even bothered to take Nat and Yelena back home to Earth, to which Carol explains she did that to keep them away from the life of danger that her and Alexei would have put them in had she brought them back. Vers then asked what the Red Room would do to the girls when they returned, to which Melina and Alexei gives only silence, but it was an answer enough for her.
The group's argument is interrupted as the lights go out, with the other Superpowered Widows bursting in and subduing everyone inside the room, rendering everyone unconscious.
---------------------------
When Carol awakens, she finds herself restrained with Dreykov standing over her. She attempts to blast him with his powers, only to find her power unresponsive. Dreykov then remarks at her incredible abilities, and how thanks to her and the Kree's technology, he was able to utilize their little inhibitors to his own benefit to control his Widows.
Carol calls out Dreykov for his actions and twisted methods, especially for endangering young children like Nat and Yelena. He shrugs it aside, monologuing about how he owns the world, and now thanks to Carol's potential, he will own far more.
Using his ring to access the information in the ship's computer, Dreykov shows Carol that thanks to Mar-Vell's work on the Tesseract, he has agents across dozens of cities across hundreds of planets. With the Icepick Protocol, he will spread his Superpowered Widows into his new Soviet Union across the universe.
---------------------------
Elsewhere, Nat and Yelena awaken in a cell next to Alexei and Melina, both of them concerned for their safety, but nether girls were in the mood to talk. After collecting himself, Alexei proceeded to apologize for his misdeeds as a father and ask for her forgiveness. Yelena then expressed her anger towards him and Melina for not only lying to her about the Red Room but also the fact that she would have just handed them over to Dreykov when their mission was over like they never even mattered.
She laments that the hardest day of her life on Hala was the day the Natasha had to tell Vers the truth so that the Kree would believe they weren't Skrulls, which meant telling Yelena that not only was the only good part of her life was a lie, but that when it was over they would have been sent back to the Red Room to becomes killers and assassins, a life that neither she or Natasha never chose nor wanted.
Despite denying it at first, Melina realizes the true damage of what she actually did to her daughters, and realizes why they stayed with Carol. Having a change of heart, Melina realizes that she always worried that either Nat or Yelena would have caused them to fail the mission, but now she sees that if the girls was happier with Carol, then the only real failure was her and Alexei.
Natasha asks if they will really help them end this for good, to which Melina says they will or die trying. Unexpectedly, the cell door opened and when she asks why, Romanoff revealed she swiped one of the keys from Dreykov's desk during their infiltration. After managing to subdue one of the guards, they free Goose from imprisonment and reclaim Alexei's old Red Guardian gear, before making their way to free Carol from Dreykov.
---------------------------
Back in his office, Dreykov sees the family moving through the halls, activating the Icepick Protocol once more and ordering his Widows to apprehend them. As he watches, Carol then gets an idea, beginning to mock Dreykov for how pathetic he is, goading him into punching her repeatedly as she continued to antagonize him. After Dreykov kicks her in to the nearby wall, the resounding impact causes her photon inhibitor to be crushed.
With everything she needed from Dreykov revealed, Carol smiled, however, confusing Dreykov as she thanked him for giving her the information she needed. She then blasted Dreykov into the nearby wall. Before she could kill Dreykov, she was stopped by the other Superpowered Widows as he escaped through the The Bolshevik's halls.
Danvers then attempted to release a powerful pulse, knocking them all away, but the other Superpowered Widows matched her power levels beat for beat, swarming her and overwhelming her with their power. Thankfully, the onslaught is stopped when the Widows are flail them about by a set of tentacles, knocking them all out and freeing Carol from the swarm.
After reuniting with Nat and Yelena, she tells Melina that they need to land the ship as soon as possible. Melina tells her that Dreykov protected The Bolshevik's controls with his ring, only for Carol to reveal she swiped it during her interrogation, using it to hack inside the ship's mainframe, redirecting the coordinates to land on a safe spot on Earth.
Melina then says Dreykov will attempt to thwart them by taking out the engines, so Carol tells Nat and Yelena to take Goose and the Tesseract and get to the nearest dropship and get off the station while the rest of them handle the engines. As Melina tries to warn them that the Tesseract is too dangerous for anyone other than Vers to hold bare-handed, Goose suddenly swallowed it, much to their shock. Nat and Yelena gives all three of the adults a big group hug before running off to the escape pods, as Carol, Melina, and Alexei make their way to the engine to stop Dreykov.
---------------------------
A furious battle then erupted inside The Bolshevik for control of the Tesseract. During their escape from the base, Nat, Yelena, and Goose find the imprisoned Skrulls Mar-Vell sheltered during her time here. Despite being hesitant at first, Nat and Yelena ultimately decides to free them, believing they shouldn't have to suffer from the Kree or the Red Room anymore.
The freed Skrulls manage to provide a big enough distraction for them and Nat, Goose, and Yelena to get to the escape pods. However, just as they get to the pod, one of the widows shoots the pod and cuts off their escape, recapturing the girls and dragging them to the hangar bay.
---------------------------
During the ensuing fight through the base, the parents ran through dozens of Widow soldiers, finally making it to The Bolshevik's engines, managing to defuse a rogue bomb and using Alexei's shield to trap the blast, preventing the engines from being destroyed.
However, the victory is short lived as they hear Dreykov over the radio, telling his troops to bring Nat and Yelena to the hangar. Just as they were about to make their move to the hangar, they were cut off by a squadron of Superpowered Widows. Carol tells Alexei and Melina to get the girls, and they run off as she holds off the squadron, finding herself evenly matched by the troops. She fights them off to the bone, determined not to let them win.
---------------------------
Dreykov finally arrives to The Bolshevik's hangar where Nat and Yelena were dragged to, telling his troops to bring them aboard the dropship. Before they could however, a spray of Widow bites incapacitate them and the vehicle as Alexei and Melina have arrived.
Dreykov then grabbed the girls and used them a human shield, holding his blaster to their heads. Nat whispered for Yelena to stay calm, saying they would be okay. He told Alexei and Melina to drop their weapons, threatening their daughters lives. Yelena, still in Dreykov's grasp, manages to flash and slip Natasha a stolen tool she took from the fallen Widow guard.
Understanding her signal, Nat signaled for Alexei and Melina to be ready to fire as they steadied their ground. Nat stabbed the tool into Dreykov's arm, grabbing and pulling Yelena away as Alexei threw his shield into him, knocking him back into the vehicle; Melina then followed up on that by shooting Dreykov in the leg and stomach, crippling him.
As Dreykov collapsed to the ground, the girls ran to them, hugging them both. Dreykov attempted to pull a gun on the family, only to be blasted back into the hangar wall by a photon blast. The group turns to see a weary and battle damaged Carol and Goose stumbling into the room, with the girls embracing them. After the hug, Carol then walks over to the bloodied and defeated Dreykov, kneeling down and telling him that his empire is over, and that after all that talk of being powerful, here he'll die as a pitiful and pathetic monster. With his dying breath, Dreykov tells Carol that if he can't have his Widows, no one can.
Carol then realizes what he means, but not before an explosion occurs, caused by a backup bomb linked to Dreykov's heart. The engine erupts, sending The Bolshevik crashing down towards Earth as it's pulled down into the atmosphere. The Hangar bay also bursts, trapping Melina and Alexei under some debris, leaving them helpless as the atmospheric vacuum sucks Carol, Nat and Yelena outside as the emergency doors close behind them.
---------------------------
As they were falling at a fast pace, Carol managed to glide over and catch both Nat and Yelena, holding the girls close to herself as they prepared for the end. During the fall, Carol apologized for everything that happened to them and her failure to break them free of their past, all her efforts amounted to nothing.
Despite being scared, Nat told Carol that it wasn't her fault, reassuring and admitting to her and Yelena that their family was real to her, no matter what. As they embraced each other, prepared for the end, Carol then began to focus herself and her power to protect their family. Suddenly the trio stopped falling as they opened their eyes, shocked to find themselves is floating in midair. Everyone is shocked and excited by Carol's new ability to fly, relieved they are saved.
Carol and the girls then took a moment to enjoy the fact that she could now fly, letting out loud cries of joy, only for their cheers to halt when Yelena sees the ship about to crash. Determined, Danvers then flew them safely to the nearby ground before flying back up to land The Bolshevik. Flying up to the underside of the ship, Carol braces herself and slows The Bolshevik's descent to the ground, steering their ship towards a safe landing space as it crashes down onto Earth's surface.
---------------------------
Carol then manages to open the ships' hangar doors, finding Alexei, Melina, and Goose wearied but alive. She manages to free them and bring them outside where Nat and Yelena embrace all three parents with a big hug. That's when the Carol gets a call from Yon-Rogg again, demanding for her to explain what has happened on C-53. Now with the full truth in hand, Carol swears off Yon-Rogg, breaking her comm in half.
The battle being over, the groups scours the remains of The Bolshevik, finding The Hoopty still intact and functional. As she fixes up the ship, Carol tells the girls that she has a lot of things left to do, telling them that after she frees the other Widows, she's going to Hala to end the Kree-Skrull War for good, and then says if any of them want to come with her, there's always room.
Despite not wanting to let Nat and Yelena go, Alexei and Melina fully realize that the girls will likely never be safe on Earth with Dreykov's associates still out and about. Understanding that Carol may be better equipped and better suited to look after the girls Alexei and Melina bid farewell to their children as they leave them in the care of Carol.
After gifting Natasha with his old shield as a memento, Alexei finally gives Natasha and Yelena an apology for everything, telling them that they would be all right, and that they would be there to take care of each other. After the girls bid them goodbye and board The Hoopty with Goose, Carol assures them that she will take care of them as best as they can, to which Melina replies that she will do all she can to handle the surviving Skrulls and dismantle Dreykov's operations Earthside.
Before leaving, Carol gives them a note with Maria Rambeau's contact information, instructing them to let her know she'll be back as soon as possible. Alexei and Melina then watch as The Hoopty leaves the planet for space once more as the pair was left by themselves amidst the rubble as the local authority arrives and surrounds the pair.
---------------------------
20 years after these events, Carol, Nat, Yelena attend the funeral for Maria Rambeau, giving condolences to Monica for her loss. Before they left, Monica told Nat and Yelena that if they wanted to put their skills to use, S.W.O.R.D. would be more than accepting for them. Nat tells them they'll consider it, walking back to their ship with Goose in tow.
As Carol sees the two of them getting along, Monica comments on how well she raised them; Carol simply replies that she can't get all the credit, since despite their rough past, Alexei and Melina deserve some as well for helping save their lives. After giving Monica her condolences again, she boards The Hoopty with the girls, heading off to embark on another cosmic adventure.
---------------------------
Sorry if the lengthy bio, but I thought it would be a both interesting crossover concept for a future What If..? scenario to examine how these two different parts of the MCU's past would interact.
IDK, let me know what you guys think! Hope you like it!

Hiii, can I ask for more autistic Yelena hcs? I love her sm but there's so little content for her :(
Autistic Yelena Belova is the genuine love of my life and I would do anything for her
Also this was MUCH longer than I thought it would be so I hope that’s your thing lol
-first of all, Yelena has literally no clue what autism is. They were never taught about neurodivergence in the Red Room, because there was no point. Each Widow was already tested on their cognitive abilities over and over and over again, with the weak links being weeded out. Yelena got “lucky” in that aspect; she didn’t start showing signs or symptoms until later (which can happen) and would be considered high functioning or even neurotypical when under the Red Room’s control. She unknowingly taught herself how to mask and always blamed the discomfort she felt on the fact that she was in the hell that was the Red Room in the first place.
-the first time she ever mentions something that could be related back to her being autistic, she and Kate are out clothes shopping. She’s already overstimulated from the bright sunlight, the store lights glaring off the floor, and the sounds of people’s shoes clacking, shopping carts creaking, and the children throwing a fit on the other side of the store. She physically recoils away from a jacket after her knuckles brush over it, her face scrunching up and tears welling in her eyes as she desperately shakes her hand out to get the disgusting texture off of her skin. Kate is worried and confused, but once they’ve gotten into the safety of their car with the window shades pulled up and the AC blasting, Yelena is able to explain that the texture felt awful and it felt like her brain was on fire from all the noise (even tho the store was actually relatively quiet). Kate starts putting two and two together after that day but doesn’t say anything for a while.
-when the idea of a diagnosis is brought to her, Yelena literally laughs in Kate and Natasha’s faces. She doesn’t know what the hell they’re talking about, but she’s for damn sure knows that that’s not her. She avoids the topic completely for weeks, changing the subject abruptly, leaving the room, of just full on putting her noise canceling headphones on and blasting her favorite music. That entire time, she is masking HARD, still without even realizing it, because the thought of a medical professional analyzing her is terrifying and just brings her right back to the Red Room. Kate is finally able to get to her one night when she pulls out her laptop and shows Yelena a list of common signs/symptoms of autism, and Yelena reads over them with a blank look on her face. She spends the rest of the night feverishly researching as much as she can about it, and by the morning, she’s a crying, exhausted mess in Kate’s arms.
-when they finally make her an appointment to see a neurologist, Yelena is practically bouncing off the walls with how anxious she is. The wait time is months long, but Natasha pulls some strings and manages to get her scheduled for the next month. Yelena needs a ton of cuddles after that, curling up with Kate on their bed and having the archer rest on top of her so it can feel like her body isn’t trying to escape her.
-the appointment itself goes smoother than she was expecting, but she still doesn’t like it. She’s asked questions and given scenarios to react to, they have her complete all sorts of different kinds of puzzles and equations, but she completes them all beyond easily because her brain was literally rewired to be cognitively brilliant. They don’t really start getting anywhere until the topic of her overstimulation comes up, and from there it pipelines into a conversation about how she hates certain textures, how some foods feel impossible to eat, how she has to complete patterns in her head to feel better, how anxious she gets about small things, how she stims and ticks almost constantly without even realizing, etc etc. She gets the official diagnosis a few weeks later and doesn’t know how to feel, so Kate and Natasha just hold her and they all watch a movie together.
-with Yelena’s stimming, you can bet it’s pretty constant whenever she’s not masking. Stimming is the repetition of certain physical movements or noises to help calm someone down. And seeing as Yelena is who she is, she’s stressed pretty much all the time. Her biggest stim is playing and fidgeting with her rings, but she also taps her fingers together a lot in patterns that she can’t explain, blinks rapidly when it’s bright wherever she is, rubs her thumb over her cheek, presses her hands together tightly and rubs them together, and runs her hands through her hair. She tries to get herself to stop doing those things once she knows what they are, but masking is getting more and more uncomfortable, and she only lasts a few days before she breaks and has a meltdown.
-she ticks when she’s particularly anxious or overstimulated, or when there are sudden unexpected loud noises whenever she’s relaxed and not masking. Ticks are a lot like stims, but are most often involuntary and can’t be controlled unless a lot of effort is put into it. Keeping oneself from ticking can be extremely physically painful, more so than holding back on stimming. Her ticks are usually small- clicking her tongue, making small noises in the back of her throat, tilting her head back and forth, snapping her fingers, etc. With the loud noises or high levels of stress, they turn into full body twitches, which usually renders her entirely nonverbal and prone on the couch or in bed while she shivers and jerks. It freaks Kate out until she understands what’s happening and learns how to help, but only because she’s so worried.
-Yelena finds out that she loves to have something in her mouth, and at first it weirds and freaks her out, but she can’t help herself when Natasha buys her a chewable necklace. She adores the texture on her tongue and how she can sink her teeth into it without it breaking, and she wears it almost constantly, often accessorizing different color pallets of the chewelry with how she dresses. She also likes to chew or suck gently on Kate’s fingers, which usually happens when they’re cuddling or after sex. Kate doesn’t mind, as long as she doesn’t bite too hard, and she makes sure to always have her hands clean whenever they’re together in case Yelena randomly wants to go full puppy on her.

BUG WRITES CUSTOMIZED FICS !
hi there! feel like getting a personalized love story with your favorite character written by your favorite broke college student, (*cough cough*) me? then you're in the right place!
--- i've been thinking about doing this for a while now, and since i'm nearing graduation (*repulsive garbage disposal cough*), i figured there's no time like the present!
with that being said, i am now writing private personalized fics for stranger things, marvel, ted lasso, and star wars for those who send in donations! i've tried to answer as many questions about this whole debacle as i can below!
here is my tip jar, and here is the link to the google form.
✶   MORE DETAILS BELOW THE CUT!    ✶
q: well, how does this whole thing even work? a: i've created a fillable form here that goes through everything i'll need to write for you (plot/character description, payment, etc.). i should note here that i only accept donations through venmo and ko-fi, since that's what works best for me at the moment! please do not send your request as an ask, because it will get lost!
q: what exactly do you mean by private fics? a: instead of posting the personalized fic directly onto my tumblr, i will ship it right to you in the form of a google doc! since it is private, i only ask that you do not repost it on any other site (tumblr, ao3, etc.) this little love story is for your eyes and your eyes only!
q: who are you gonna write for then? a: my speciality as of right now is eddie munson and steve harrington. however, i'm expanding my horizons specifically for those who donate! with that being said, i will write for any stranger things character, as well as marvel, ted lasso, and star wars character (as long as said character is of age, of course!)
q: .......what about smut? a: yes, i will be writing smut! it will cost extra ($2 USD) because it's a little harder to write and takes a bit longer do, so please keep that in mind! (also, please note that i won't write for noncon, watersports, or violence-related scenarios. but other than that, feel free to go wild!)
q: what's it gonna cost me though? a: the cost varies depending on word count, as you'll see in the form. the pricing is as follows: ⋆ ~100 words – $1 ⋆ 200-999 words – $3 ⋆ 1,000-1,999 words – $5 ⋆ 2,000-4,999 words – $10 ⋆ 5,000+ words – $20
q: and how do the donations work exactly? a: as stated previously, i accept donations through venmo and ko-fi. you can check the pricing above, donate your preferred amount, and then fill out the form accordingly. so for example, if you donate $5, that will be a 1k word fic -- but remember, if you want a 1k word fic with smut, that will be an extra $2, so $7 in total). the payment is upfront, so if that makes you uncomfortable, shoot me an ask and we can work something out! if i have trouble writing your request or the writing time is longer than expected, refunds will be issued! also, if i happen to go over the word count you selected, you will not be charged extra.
q: and how will i receive my personalized love story? a: your fic will be sent to your messages as a google doc link. after your payment, i will send you the initial draft of your request in 1-10 days (depending on the length of your fic). after receiving your modifications (if any), i'll send you the final draft (again, to your tumblr messages, as a google doc link).
q: is there a limit to how many donations i can send in? a: no! feel free to send in as many as requests as you fancy! just remember to donate for each form you submit!
  ✶ WHO I'LL WRITE FOR !
--- keep in mind this is not a definitive list, just the characters i feel most comfortable writing for! if your character is not on this list, shoot me an ask before donating just to make sure!
stranger things:
eddie munson
steve harrington
robin buckley
nancy wheeler

Bishova AU prompt
Most cupids are forbidden from interacting with humans. They meddle in the shadows, quietly pulling strings to help those unlucky in love finally find happiness through various meet cute scenarios. Kate is the newest Hawkeye: an elite class cupid allowed to manifest physically and interact directly with extremely difficult cases.
Her latest assignment, her first as a Hawkeye, is proving nigh impossible. Yelena Belova is gorgeous, charming, and so incredibly guarded to every potential suitor Kate presents her with. It would be infuriating if she wasn't so damned likable.
Aka, Kate just wants Yelena to find love and be happy, but Yelena only has eyes for the oblivious Hawkeye and is finding all of this very amusing.
