because of the Sea Witch stories, it became mandatory for all merfolk to learn some version of sign language

He can easily spot you are deaf and tries to strike up a deal first, only he mixes it up in his mind and signs ‘date’ instead 

Both of you are blushing messes but why not? 

You help to properly teach him and the tweels proper sign language and in return you now have 3 powerful and influential men there to protect you at any time 

“I must ask, do you think it would be a fruitful venture to hold a paid for sign language class? Of course the proceeds would go to a charity! That charity being getting you those hearing aids you’ve been wanting”

Is very confused as you don’t seem to hear him at all, making him practically yell

If he can’t guard you, Lilia will. Lilia is a lot more ferocious in his guarding as he had blind soldiers when he was a general

Hii!! I was thinking about buck and the concept of home and his different romantic relationships with it cause i realized with buck asking tmmy to live together they established a patern that was already there of course but well, this being the last one and having this patern aswell, it settles it in my mind. We know it was there with abby obviously he moved into her house, then with ali she helped him look for the loft and was supposed to stay there when she was in the city, then taylor where they try to move in together then well everything we know that follows, the couch of it all etc and then natalia where nothing is talked about it in that sense but well him saying lets pick a couch together was pretty much also an implication. Im sorry if you talked about this before but yes i was thinking about this because FICS lol and the connection eddie already has through all of bucks relationships ("this is eddies house im not really a guest") and the potential it could have in the future if they decide to make a direct parallel to abby. Feel free to just send me a link if youve already talked about it. And as always thank you for your insight 💕

Hi darling. I don't think I talked about this all that recently, and if I did I mostly talked about it in the sense that the loft is a symbol of Buck's failed relationships and that I would like it if Buck made the choice to move on his own the last time someone was talking about the loft burning down lol. But yeah, Buck asking Tommy to move in solidified the way Buck jumps because he's scared. It's not something discussed, it's a reaction to something else, I guess with Ali not that much but he did get the place with her in mind and I would assume she decorated it too, that being her job and all. But asking Taylor to move in to trap her with him, asking Tommy to move in because he's insecure, even the couch with Natalia probably would've been explored a bit further if she had stuck around (I will never let go of the conspiracy theory that the Marisol moving in plot was a bucktalia plot they repurposed). The Abby of it all is interesting because he "accidentally" moves in, he is helping her with her mom's death and ends up lingering, so it isn't a conscious choice, it was Buck being all in. And it's interesting that his reaction to feeling insecure in his relationships is that all in movement, because it didn't work before, but he still acts as if making things that serious will make them love.

I am extremely curious about the loft when talking about Buck from now on. Because with the loft being the place Buck's relationships begin and end, the symbolism in the way Ali showed she couldn't handle who he is in there, and Taylor and Tommy kissing him and the respective breakup also happening there, Natalia leaving the dinner date. The choice is not really Buck's. And they use the loft in a very purposeful way on a meta level, even tho there are no walls, there is an obvious divide in the spaces, like the way kitchen, I would say the sides and back of the counter is the space he's comfortable, and it's a space for family, we only see Maddie, Chris, Jee, Eddie, and I think Hen in that space, and the times we see Taylor in it the scene goes south real quick, like when Buck decides she's breaking up with him in 509 and when he tells her about the cheating in 513. The dining room, I would assign the front of the counter and the space with the table, has a lot of more emotionally charged moments but it's a less serious space, it's where Buck keeps most people. The space under the loft is made "for guests" by his mother and it really isn't a space we see Buck a lot in while in a casual mood. The stairs are for uncomfortable truths, like 316 when he's talking about being left behind or when he's waiting for Taylor for the breakup in 518. I'm getting side tracked lol, but the way we now have 3 breakups happening in there is making me eye it. Because the loft is not home, we don't interpret the loft as home. Even going back to 218 when he gets it and the joke Ali makes that he's a "perpetual roommate even in his own place".

And on the other side, we have Eddie's house, "this is Eddie's house, I'm not really a guest", a very interesting line considering at that point we hadn't seen Buck in the house alone, the hangouts we witness are all in the loft, I'm pretty sure the first time we see Buck in the house alone with Eddie and Chris is 403, because 310 has Hen and Denny and 311 is a party, but Buck has a key to the house, we see him in the house when Eddie isn't there, 612 makes a point of showing Buck uncomfortable in his own house just to fall asleep at Eddie's in seconds. He panics and shows up at Eddie's door. So if the speculation is right and Buck ends up at the house after Eddie leaves for Texas it could have some fun connotations for what it means for Buck. Because we did lowkey establish that Buck forces connection by moving in together because "why be apart when they could be together" as if the constant presence is gonna make him feel better, will make the house feel more like home. So what would it mean for him to end up at Eddie's if Eddie isn't there? Would that lead him to the realization that home isn't the house, it is Eddie and Chris and he doesn't need to force that connection? Would it add up to the way he clung to Abby's place because he liked the way she made him feel even though she left him and the house wasn't that anymore? And will that lead to a revelation when Eddie comes back because Abby never did? I don't know if this makes a lot of sense, but let's just say that they used Tommy to solidify most of Buck's bad habits, and one of those is the loft of it all, so something about Buck choosing to leave because he hates that Eddie isn't around anymore and he wants to find him somewhere makes sense to me.

Obviously, there's also the chance of Eddie showing up to the loft and helping change the meaning of it too, but I just have a feeling the houses and the definition of home will play a part in whatever is unfolding.

So yeah beyond the specific mindset Sakiko displays and her revisiting important parts of her life just before the Crychic thing happens there are a few clues that can be interpreted that way.

Now, mind you this specifically is from a narrative writing standpoint and is not as applicable to real life because the real life version of this topic is far too complex and sensitive to handle here.

This specifically mentions narrative beats that could be used as indicating a characterization of a single character and the way she interacts with the world—and how the narrative expects us to parse those clues when interpreting the said character's motives.

The topic below is highly sensitive and might be triggering to people affected by it.

The first bigger clue is the book we see Sakiko read for a split second

From the cover art it's easy to figure out that she is reading "Kokoro" by Natsume Soseki.

The book is essentially multiple interconnected character journeys through solitude and trauma as they are either being affected by sh in their life or considering it as a form of escapism from traumatic experiences and self loathing.

The book also has multiple narrative parallels between Sensei and Sakiko and how they handle trauma, their instinct to alienate themselves from others, etc.

There's actually a pretty apt quote from.the book that nails Sakiko as a character:

"His curt and cold ways were not designed to express his dislike of me, but they were meant rather as a warning to me that I would not want him as a friend. It was because he despised himself that he refused to accept openheartedly the intimacy of others."

The character in question also notably wrestles with the thought that his existence spread misery to others.

This ties to The second narrative clue which is, as I mentioned before, the character mindset. We see it in her stairway freakout where her train of thought is essentially this:

"If I wasn't here."

Now the last clue is a bit flimsy but like I said all of these are from purely narrative standpoint and the actual topic of sh is far more complex than fiction often can handle which is why I personally wouldn't ever dare to use it as a topic if I were to write a story.

The third clue is the wording Sakiko picks in her messages and letter to Uika and the way it matches wording that might be used in a very different kind of letter.

Actually reading the messages really helps to understand why Uika is so freaked out.

There are actually other indicators in the way Sakiko has been written but as far as recent episodes go these are the most overt.

Now will that get used somehow in the narrative? Who knows, but there's certainly enough clues in her characterization and I'm narrative writing that Sakiko does have a mindset like that and at the very least grapples with self hate which so far now manifests in her actively sacrificing her own time and wellbeing to help Mutsumi.

Which we all know is not going to work out.

Do you have hcs about the relationship experience of SS and the Marauders?

Yes, I have my ideas.

People usually go for the virgin Severus take or the so devoted to Lily that he never had anything with anyone take, but I think we can interpret Voldemort’s words as implying that, while he might not have had actual relationships, he at least had some flings. Meaning that, within the Death Eater circle, he was probably encouraged to have affairs with pure-blood women. In fact, I have this personal headcanon that Narcissa used to introduce him to girls, but that’s just my own thing.

Strictly based on canon, I think he did have some casual encounters here and there. When he left Hogwarts, I believe he would have experimented like any young person his age, especially in an environment where things were probably happening. I don’t think he ever had anything serious or a stable relationship, and once Voldemort returned, I imagine he was too stressed, anxious, and overworked to even think about blowing off some steam. But before that? Yeah, why not. I also don’t see him as someone who did it often, but I do think that when he had the need or felt like it, he found ways to get it out of his system, like most people do. No big deal.

James was a virgin until he was with Lily. Classic teenage relationship where they lose it together, and that’s it, nothing more to analyze there.

Remus probably didn’t have any relationships until after Hogwarts, and even then, I doubt they were very successful. He gives off that nice guy vibe: seems super sweet, really kind, but then he gets you pregnant and bolts, you know? I think he probably tried to have things with people, but his self-hatred and low self-esteem always got in the way. Plus, with the whole lycanthropy issue and his constant fear of someone finding out, he likely considered long-term relationships too risky.

Sirius is always portrayed as the guy who probably slept with half the school because it’s clear he was very popular with girls and incredibly handsome—something Rowling reminds us of multiple times so we never forget. But I believe Sirius had a massive crush on James, even if he didn’t realize it himself and just saw it as brotherly attachment. I think it wasn’t until James started dating Lily and that codependency was broken—since James now had a relationship and was focusing on that—that Sirius even started looking elsewhere. What I am certain of is that once they left Hogwarts, he probably slept with as many people as he could, indiscriminately. He was totally the type to always hook up with someone at parties. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if, during his months on the run, when Harry sees him looking better (and with short hair—let’s remember that when Sirius is doing well, he has short hair), those were periods when he was also having some casual encounters. Because, come on, 12 years in Azkaban—that’s a long time.

I don’t think Peter had much going on. Maybe some flings after leaving school, but nothing serious.

Overall, except for James (for obvious reasons), I don’t see any of them having stable relationships. They had just left school when a war started, and then life got complicated for all of them, each in their own way. They weren’t exactly in the best position to settle down, even in relationships that wouldn’t have led anywhere. If that makes sense.

Summary: You and your friends tried to hang out, but it was quickly interrupted by Jax, who decides to exhibit some unusual affection towards you.

AN: This is based on a headcanon of mine that I've been seeing other people have as well. For those that don't know, chinning is what rabbits do as a form of claiming territory and belongings. Still, this story may be interpreted as either romantic or platonic.

You had gotten close to Jax over the course of several months. He was...an $!?hole, yes, but he still looked out for you in his own way. That way usually involved playing around with you and standing close, giving the others threatening glares.

He was surprisingly touchy with you compared to the others and usually went out of his way to give you shoulder nudges or hair ruffles. You didn't mind. He could be a little rough at times, but he generally kept it at friendly touches.

You glanced at the clock in the common area. Ugh. It was still broken. The minute hand just spun around in a rapid circle. You flopped on the couch and put an arm over your face. So boooorrredddd. You rolled onto your belly and buried your face in your arms. Maybe a nap would make the time pass faster.

You dozed a bit before feeling a weight on either side of you. You looked up and turns your head to look up and behind yourself. Pomni, Gangle, and Ragatha had joined you and were sitting at your head and feet.

"Hey, Y/N. Mind if we join you?" Ragatha asked.

You shook your head with a stretch and yawn. "Of course not," you said sleepily. "Could always use some company." You shifted so your friends could get more comfortable. Gangle, who sat at your head, absentmindedly played with your hair. You closed your eyes with a little sigh.

You yelped as a weight fell heavily on top of you. You heard Ragatha yell out, "Jax!" Of course. Of course. Of course. You looked up to see the rabbit sitting on your back with his hands propping his head up. He looked down at you with a smug smirk.

"What's up, doc?" he teased. You rolled your eyes.

"You're heavy," you protested. He just shrugged and wiggled to get more comfortable.

"That's rough."

Gangle raised a ribbony hand nervously. "Um. Jax? I think you're hurting the- ACK!" The rabbit shoved the girl off the couch by the face, causing her to land on the floor and break her mask.

"JAX!" Ragatha yelled.

The bunny raised his hands innocently. "Whaaat? She started it," he said with a grin. The doll glared at him. The most evil glare you had ever seen. It looks could kill, Jax would've imploded by now. And he seemed to know that.

"Jeez..." he mumbled. He got up off of you with a grumpy pout. "I'm going, I'm going. Whiny."

You stretched when the bastard was fully off of you and then set your face back in your arms. After a second, you felt something warm nuzzle against your head. You looked up in confusion. "Wha-?"

Jax. It was him. Of course it was. But he was...oddly affectionate? He was nuzzling his cheek and chin against your forehead. You flushed red.

"J-Jax?" you stuttered. "What're you- what're you doing??" You pulled away a little.

The rabbit stood up. He scratched the back of his head. "Oh, don't complain. It's just a nuzzle. See ya." He turned and walked away, waving without looking back at you. You blinked in confusion and rubbed your forehead with the back of your hand.

Pomni patted your head. "You ok? That was...weird," she said slowly. You nodded. "Oh, yeah. Fine. Just...confused. Think I should go check on him...?" He never did anything like that. You tried showing him affection outside of friendly nudges, but he always just whined and wriggled away.

Ragatha scoffed and rolled her one non-button eye. "You kidding? He probably just did that to freak everyone out," she grumbled.

You sat up and looked down at your lap. "I know...But still. He doesn't usually act like that. He's too...defensive. His walls are too thick."

Pomni and Gangle looked between each other and then back at you. "You know how he thinks. Go talk to him," the jester agreed. Ragatha gave your arm a squeeze and then hugged you.

"Don't let him bully you, alright?" she muttered.

You smiled and nodded, hugging her back. "I won't. I'll smack him upside the head. I promise."

You got up and jogged along to the direction Jax went. It looked like he went down to his room, so you headed there. You knocked on the door and squealed. You were immediately scooped up by a flurry of purple fur.

"You're back!" Jax hugged you close and closed the door, carrying you to the bed. He tossed you onto it playfully and pounced on you. You squealed in surprise.

"Jax!" you protested. "What're you-?!" You paused when you saw his tail wagging rapidly. Ohhh. So he wanted to play. You grinned at him. "So we're playing it that way, huh?"

He pushed you encouragingly. You pounced on him in return and wrestled with him playfully. He growled and pinned your shoulders down.

"Wow. You're weak," he mocked. You rolled your eyes.

"It's almost Ike you're stronger than me. And always have been," you said sarcastically.

"&$!? yeah, I am." He leaned down and nuzzled his cheek and chin against your face. You spluttered and giggled a little.

"Hey! What're you doing, weirdo?!" You pushed at his face halfheartedly. He just purred softly and nuzzled you more. He let you go and flopped down on his side, resting his face up under your chin.

You smiled at his now peaceful demeanor. You scratched between his ears gently. He adjusted his head so you scritched the base of his ear. As you did, he purred and twitched a little in contentment.

You grabbed the tv remote and turned it on a random show. Jax peeked up from your shoulder to looked at the screen.

You were gonna have to do more research in rabbit behavior.

I find it so interesting that we don't have much Akane info on the new TL!! Makes lot of room for personal interpretations!

Akane and Aoi were definitely still in touch in this new TL but their relationship must've been veryyyy different without the whole confession/rejection and constantly-tip-toeing-the-line-between-ambiguous-and-romantic-relationship dynamic going on.

First of all, Aoi really changed in this world from the changes it indirectely induced in her life : being Teru's acquaintance and having the "engaged" status made her way more..let's say open? Sincere? A lot less well-guarded! She doesn't seem to have as much weigh on her shoulders and yknow she's just more honest!

She just seem overall more willing to express her emotions instead of hiding them! And more straightforward (through this whole new TL arc).

Then, we have a probably very big change in Akane's attitude towards Aoi. With her engaged status, she isn't "available" anymore and he surely didn't do all the "courting" he did in the original TL, not when she is bound to be with someone else (maybe he did when it just started but must've stopped way before the current point in the story). Aoi probably didn't really indulge him either : she had to make her mother happy after her dad left, she couldn't afford to let her down, couldn't let her feelings make the act break.

Then, Akane's public display of affection is probably gone too since Aoi and Teru have to keep up the appearances of a happy couple at school- him interfering too much would create rumors and stuff.

So yeah no constant affirmations of his undying love, no confessions, no rejections either. Just...feelings that are definitely there for each other from what we've seen of Aoi's POV but cannot be acted upon.

No Akane constantly rebuilding himself around her either tho. With that gone, he probably acted more like his "usual" self (the blunt, still intense Akane) around her then. Just his casual personality. (Makes me wonder how he joined the student council in this timeline! Probably not to make Aoi swoon for him this time? What else could there be tho..)

So to me, new TL Akane and Aoi would have a bit more distant relationship, but with much more.."themselves"(?) behaviour around each other than in original TL (not to say they weren't already but..I can't quite pinpoint the word I'm looking for haha. I see their relationship as much less sweet and soft and more of a down to earth one. More toned-down romantic than romantic romantic).

I like to think they used to hangout really often when they were kids, playing in parks like in that one flashback from Aoi, talking to each other through the balcony and meeting at houses...At the start of the engagement Akane was maybe angry? He tried to find some solution to break it off and used to drag Aoi into secret meetings and plans work-throughs to get her out of it. Aoi would think with him, watch him work, smile with him and let him hope, while knowing in the back of her mind that he didn't stand any chance. Inevitably, they grew apart by the years, still longing for each other and wanting something ,but knowing they couldn't have it. This time, they weren't meant to be, or maybe they were, but the ropes fate tied to their hands made shoulders brush and touches linger but forbid them from getting anything more. Anything they wanted.

I like to think that they both are salty about the situation and occasionally take jabs at each other when they feel particularly frustrated. That there's an omnipresent tension between them whenever they interact. There's that acknowledgment of their feelings for each other they both know are there but well that goes unsaid cause what can they do about it anyway?

Sometimes they let their sadness show. They let the other see how much they wished for better circumstances. They're silently confort each other, they act close and let themselves dream a little... And then back to square zero, up again is the wall that separates them, the wall that doesn't let him tell her, the wall that doesn't let her tell him, but is cruel enough to let them dig through it and hang on to that hope. Maybe one day, he thinks; at least one day..she whispers, as they silently dig and dig and pierce holes in that thick, thick wall, never big enough to go through, never small enough to ignore. Two fools dreaming about what could've been, hands bloodied and bruised and dirty but with a miniscule dent to the other side and that's enough to make them continue. Cause they're too stubborn to let go.

So, when they come across each other they exchange proper greetings, they talk politely and if chapped fingernails and poorly masked cuts are seen, that goes unsaid.

Sometimes, they let themselves indulge. Because in reality, they're as much builders as they're diggers . And this old construction of theirs isn't as thick as they like to pretend. It isn't thick enough to stop their heart from aching. Never thin enough to make them give up on it. Too much to stop them from digging into. Built on the most unsteady grounds , it is bound to crumble again and again and again. And foolish as they are, they let themselves dream a little before putting the bricks back on. Truly, what were they if not dreamers?

And so, they drop the act. It not like they were ever acting anyway : never did they try to deny what they had for each other; they just had to tone it down cause what else but problems would that bring if they didn't?

She calls him "Kane" and he calls her "Ao", the nicknames a mockery of their situation, their actual status that will never be more than "Akane-kun" and "Aoi-san" , their linked fingers a bitter joke and the couple on that big screen dry, cruel, irony of the worst kind.

Still. They let their hands squeeze tighter together, their knees brush gently on the sofa. She doesn't acknowledge it. He doesn't either. And like countless times before, he almost leans in and closes the gap, weren't he wasn't painfully aware of the singular bell displayed on her neck, hauntingly - almost supernaturally glowy, matching with a bracelet he definitely didn't want to think about, especially now.

He leans back and he's sure she caught him. And just like every other time, she turns doesn't say a word, caught up in her thoughts. Just like every other time, he saw a glint in her eyes when he got closer that seemed to yell "Will you do it this time, coward?". And he just knows his own coppers mirrored this. Will I do it this time? That was a funny question, because it was pointless. Because he knows he won't. He wants to - to break that damn line they set up in the sand ever since her mother started requesting for them to see each other less. He wants to let her do what she wants, walk off of that road they built for her. Heck- he wants to be selfish for once. But he knows that he will regret it in the end because what would this do but hurt them? Getting a glimpse of freedom made the ache hurt more and he couldn't bear causing her to be in pain. In the ends he just wants her to be happy.

" My, my, you can't do that to an engaged young-woman, 'Kane ♥" she said after some time. But there was no mischief in her tone and her eyes were oh so sad. It made his heart clench.

"...Right." he answered. I wish you didn't have to be, he wanted to add. He didn't.

...They were truly one of a pair, holding on to this ambiguous relationship for far longer than they should've when rings and shrines and electric blues were in the picure.

But when he looked at her, he knew he could never have it any other way.

Today (which will be days ago by the time this posts) was one for long stretches of s o l i t u d e to recharge. As often happens on these days, I went down some rabbit holes. Found this unassuming interview of Ben from Dec 2022 and found it encouraging, particularly from 9:00 minutes to 15:00 (the end).

In these last few months before the next US Presidential election, I am choosing to focus on, invest in, imagine, hold space for envisioning how it will be to have a female President. Not that everything will be All Better Now (it won’t be, not hardly), h o w e v e r, it WILL be different!

And, I for one, am ready for different.

fun stuff im sure !! but haah okay given julius was a kid when he was a commoner - yeah theyre both kids here!! not sure how old but definitely somewhere before the age of ten. and i think theyd be up to some shenanigans together im sure!! theyre both very mischevious kids (or from what little we know of little kid julius, given iirc tappei hasnt specified just How Much of a "delinquent" little kid julius is okay. but hes definitely the type to sneak out past curfew or something. stay up late reading too, probably. that sort of thing). and also subarus a kid and no way he ISNT missing home poor guy T^TT getting ripped away from home like that is bad enough at seventeen, getting ripped away from home when you are like. no more than eight or something is Bad. but luckily!! im assuming subaru gets found by the juukuliuses (julius's parents probably?) and thats how julius and subaru form their friendship / long-term yearning for each other (if you so desire that) (okay but no way subaru ISNT gonna form long-term yearning for julius flajsdlf). but yes i think julius and subaru would be silly happy kids together and julius's parents would be like oh no this other kid is so lost where is he from :(( but hes so loved by julius already too... well we got another kid under our roof now.

No content, just something I thought upon when thinking of the movie (something that is on my mind so very often.)

Just, thinking of Leo, when he’s separated from everyone and everything, being completely silent. Even being so horrifically beaten as he was, even being in a true nightmare scenario, he is silent in his suffering. Smiles through it, even.

At the moment where it would have been more than justified to make any noise, he stays silent.

One other detail that is interesting is that because the cosplays Shirogane uses have the V3 logo in the eyes if her cospox is real you can make the argument that Danganronpa 1 & 2 are real and the reason they don't activate her cospox is because she is cosplaying "fictional" characters/ocs that just so happen to look like and have the same name as them.

THIS ALSO WORKS I've thought about this before like! How much does she have to modify a real person's outfit before cospox doesn't activate?

The combo of info from the prologue and trial 6 makes v3's ending confusingly open ended, but I kinda like it that way.
