#probably my last sunny walk at home :(#keeeeellll meeeee #i think one of the things i hate about going back to uni is not being able to experience autumn and winter at home like i used to #it’s weird because i’ve always loved them and considered them my favourite seasons.#but last year (and now this year) i’m realizing that oh! i think it’s because i got to come home after a long day and be in a safe familiar #space. and at uni everything is still a bit unfamiliar and not very comforting so the long cold days get so much harder #but i will surviveeeeeee #counting on gilmore girls to get me through it!! and also love is blind s7. i LOVE having things to look forward to every week it makes tim #fly by so fast. last yr every friday night was reserved for me and i ate frozen pizza or takeout and/or my favourite snacks and #watch my comfort films :( i cooked a lot those nights too 2 save money but yeah. it was rlly nice to have that comfy safe time to myself #i think it rlly got me thru uni.#ik it’s gonna be so hard to get back into a routine but im trying to tell myself that i need to like. focus on the basics first. adulting #can be so hard & i wanna do everything at once! i wanna b perfect in all areas. always do my hobbies. etc etc but i #i couldnt even get out of bed to make myself meals sometimes 💔 so i need to like remember if i don’t journal or read a whole book in a day #not the end of the world. and most importantly i need to be EATING and staying active and SLEEPING FIRST and foremost cause then hopefully #i won’t feel like a zombie.#okay anyways.#feeling sad feeling tired feeling unmotivated but also feeling a teensy bit excited for finally BEING ALONE!!!!#i have my cardiologist appt tmrw so maybe that’s why i feel so yuck also. just thinking abt it makes me wanna throw up #i hope everything goes well #anyways bye bye #♡ dear diary…

Hngngng my ADP apointment isn't thorough another fortnight but I just realised what a FANTATSIC birthday present thst getting sorted would be bc the first payout would be backdated *months*

#im not entirely sure how its calculated tho so idk how much ill hypothetically get #it seems to be based entirely on perdonal response and description of difficulties #which is SO refreshing but makes me question how much they'll actually offer even for the most debilitating of disabilities #when theoretically anyone could just go in and say oh nah yeah i can never do anything without assitence #perhaps having the interviews to verify documents is a part of that? idk #im autistic and desperately scrabbling at the poverty line man getting any additional funding would be a gamechanger #im. gradually coming around to the reality that we pretty much depend on fast food in order to est consistently #and thats okay. its a lil difficult for me to accept bc i was raised on takeout being a treat #but. like. this month has been easier in part bc we *can* afford takeout a couple times a week #even if its just grabbing breakfast from greggs or something #like sure we can both cook but. adhd time blindness #keeping the kitchen clean enough #having the fucking energy to prepare a meal after work??#i manage sometimes but its a major drain and alfie basically cant #so yeah no havint extra money to buy meals means we're actually eating every day lmao #a bag of chips is better than nothing

oh my god i just remembered about the time in 6th grade where my parents let me lock myself in the basement blindfolded with earplugs and very little food (that wasnt even foood food just gansitos) and water for days

#i think i wanted to see how long id last but i slowly gave up after a couple days #the first day i made it by basically just sleeping through it and then i eventually took my earplugs off and then after some more time i #took off the blind fold and then yeah. this was also around the time i was going into the depths of my ed and i remember lying on the couch #bed thing and watching stephanie soo (because i caved in and told myself it was okay to watch youtube) and telling myself i could eat a #gansito as soon as the video was over and then i would play another video and it just repeated until i gave into that too #idk what i was thinking bc who tries to do that for a 6TH GRADE SCIENCE FAIR PROJECT #it was a failed experiment but little me felt proud of going that long with only some gansitos and water #that was when i was 12ish? which i guess doesnt sound too young when i think about it but idk even thinking about freshmen im like wow #so young they dont know what lies ahead huh #but yeah makes me kinda sad to think about it #des rambles

#Okay so in a decent amount of fic the writers make it that Makoto can read braille #and at the end of the day its a completely understandable little detail #but it always makes me 🤔#because being blind doesn't mean you'd automatically learn to read braille...#my aunty has this thing called stargardts disease which is genetic and she was diagnosed over 20 years agao #and has been legally blind for god probably 18 years #and she's still never learnt to read braille #she got taught to walk with a cane bc australia does have p good healthcare for the visually impaired #she even did a touch typing course back before she got put on the disability pension and was still working #i think they might have even given her a book of braille bc i vaguely remember touching it #but she never learnt #so im just not really sure makoto wpuld have learnt to sufficiently read in braille in the short period she had #theres no reason for Lee to know how to read it either so I imagine in 1988 it would be difficult #i mean Lee could have known someone who came and taught her a bit but idk #i think logically she probably just couldnt read in braille #had the tojo clan not upended her life with Lee and depending if she regained vision anytime soon #she might have learned but i think a lot of people who had vision and then lost it as an adult dontnecessarily #act the same as someone who was born with it or lost it very very young #case in point: my aunty #so yeah one of those things thats genuinely not really an issue #im just a mental case that THINKS and reads into things #and goes Hmm 🤔#lmao #apparently she says she reads in braille in the game which i dont remember but ?#tbh that just reads as the writers not actually properly thinking about how short a time she would have had to learn it tbh #like she might have been learning bit by bit but i highly doubt she was fluid with it #idk these games are bad with disability lmao #Aoki is a prime example just bc he got a lung transplant doesnt mean he would suddenly be fuckin able bodied like ????

ANYWAY i think the idea that homer was blind is cool as fuck because it could mean that 1. basically all the visual language in the iliad is stock poetic phrases circling in an oral tradition possibly propagated largely by blind people and 2. (reaching) the ubiquity of light/dark language may not be solely due to limitations of the language but because a lot of blind people have some level of light perception it would have been a visual language he understood better

#massively extrapolating from more recent and documented oral traditions victorian-style for FUNSIES im playing dont take it serious okay #i love how i was talking to my sis abt this n shes like. yeah theres all these ppl theorising how he might have been blind based on there #being a blind bard in the odyssey(?) and that being a thing in other traditions e.g irish #but no one had like...thought what him being (born) blind would mean for ......his ability to know what stuff looked like 😭
