No, but this is so funny. SO FUNNY because it’s so true. This has been a journey I laughed, I cried, I giggled, and I blushed and I have enjoyed every bit of it from pasta discourse to Moldien cult wars to Arthur bunnies, I’ve had the most wonderful time. Now my mind is gonna be filled with Arthurian stuff for months my maladaptive daydreaming is having the time of its life I have a road trip next week and I’m so looking forward to just staring out a window for 6+hours while my Hound's just alternating daydream adventures with the cast o(≧▽≦)o. Also speaking of your amazingly wonderful, sweet, and supportive cast I have decided my (though I love them all) favorite poly pairings are Arthur/Morien and whole crew polycule I’d sell my soul for those but I 100% understand why you can’t really do that. Not sure if it's entirely in character but I like the idea of it. By the way, Aku is doing the exact same thing but he's talking to Rashomon instead of an actual person, and even though Rashomon is only like half sentient she is just as done with Aku's bullshit as Juni is.

Watched this video that pretty much had me like "YES" about Nobara because she is indeed a great character to me and one of my least favorite things about her is people comparing her to Sakura.

Back to Nobara!

She's a character that's been badass since she came into the story. She's confident, likes the finer things, she likes her beauty, but she's not afraid to get bloody and ruthless in a fight. She'll shit talk you and back it up. Yet, she's also capable of being nice and a friend.

She's also silly. Her funny moments don't come from "abusing the male MC". Yeah, she and Yuuji butt heads sometimes, but it's not like all the damn time or is it downright malicious and then she fakes caring about him. Her funny moments come from her just being silly, without and with Yuuji and/or Megumi.

Her flashback as a kid show just that!!

And it's a relief she's not written to be a love interest. She's just another character. Her relationship with Megumi and Yuuji is beautiful to me.

That's trio doesn't come off like "two guys and one girl". They come off like "these three are besties, for real".

In the video I watched, he pretty much said what I was thinking.

People want to be talking about how Nobara is "weak", but did we not see back in season 1 that she INJURED HERSELF TO TAKE OUT DEATH PAINTINGS?!

Her and Yuuji work in sync beautifully and don't even have to be in the same room! Yuuji recognized her technique stopping Mahito and thanks her!

When she fought Haruta, she was fighting against someone whose technique is good luck.

Everytime I look, it becomes clearer that the creators of Surge and Kit have zero interest in using either of them in substantial/interesting ways and they only exist to be a lazy strawman of critics that dislike how the comic handles Sonic's morals.

I'm also willing to bet Surge and Kit only keep appearing because the writers know it's an easy way to get quick applause on social media.

But at the same time, they keep hyping them up (moreso surge) like they're the greatest things to ever touch the franchise. so maybe their creators really do believe they're great. Which is honestly even more baffling since both of them are insanely lame.

As I said, I honestly wonder if S&K fans are actually happy with them coming back.

They had their grand exit in #56, with Surge declaring that she cannot nor won't stop wanting Sonic dead and Kit calling him out for being just another person who wants to impose his will on them. After a huge bout of absolute nothing happening (sprinkled with some discourse), they come back and... it's so lowkey it's not even worth it.

They spent all these months surviving on rations in Starline's old base, which basically means dwelling in their past. No attempting to build themselves a better life away from the ghosts of their misery.

They met one of the people responsible for their creation, and they have zero reaction to him, for the sake of this dumbass "infiltration" plot.

They approached Amy basically like "hey wanna be besties? 🥺", and they're introduced in the comic basically chilling with her, no fanfare, no hype, no nothing.

The rest of the issue is Sonic pulling his pope shit again while Surge mocks him all the time and Kit contributes nothing but being >:( all the time.

Next issue will be about Sonic and Tails, and after that, a 4 month break with Nack.

They don't care about their past anymore. They are stable enough to keep a "charade" around Sonic. Surge has been warped so OOC that she's capable of strategizing, teaming up with one of the people responsible for her pain for the sake of a future reward, playing undercover and pretending to be "nice". Sorry but nothing about her previous behavior suggested that she's the type of doing this: she is supposed to be a warped version of Sonic, she's supposed to be all impulse and violence.

I don't know, if I cared about Surge, I'd be very unhappy with this. Yes, she's back, but for what? Unless I also shipped Surgamy, in which case yeah I guess I'd be very happy about the crumbs and the hinted "Amy contributes to her reformation" arc :^)

OKAY so as @bibluebutterfly so perfectly highlighted it in a post that wont let me link for whatever reason so im using a screenshot:

I may be reading Beelzebub wrong but I think she’s pretty genuine. Tone-wise she comes off bitchy but I think that has more to do with her character design being the “HBIC” or popular party girl. Her words matter more than the tone of voice they come off in IMO, and during the episode her words and actions show kindness and genuineness (is that a word?).

Her sin is gluttony, so she’s for funsies, for what you want. Throughout the whole episode we see Beelzebub being pretty much a perfect hostess, making sure everyone is okay and having a good time. Bee also alerts Loona of Blitz not doing well - which, lets be objectively honest here- anyone would want someone to do if their loved one is clearly not okay at a party. So W for Queen Bee on that one.

the only time she gets “spicy” so to speak is when Loona took her words the wrong way and got spicy first. She also is shown apologizing to Tex for being that way toward Loona. though i do hope we see a future scene where they acknowledge this and it sparks their friendship or something.

I do think that the “spat” between Loona and Bee was just a simple miscommunication. Loona took Bee’s words differently than Bee meant them. Beelzebub literally meant Blitz was “not okay” emotionally/on an energetic level. NOT that he was a “not okay” kind of guy. and, at no real fault of her own, Loona took it in a hostile way because of her traumatic history. She’s looking for threats everywhere as a safety precaution, and is being self destructive in the process.

I’ve been seeing discourse about the lack of dimensionality to the writing of the female characters and while it didn’t originally cross my mind i do totally agree and want to acknowledge that here. i’m praying that they’ll fix it by giving us a beautiful friendship between Bee and Loona that is vulnerable and multidimensional and fulfilling. maybe even a lil fruity lmao. i love Tex and Bee together tho don’t get me wrong, i’m just musing atp.

i know we barely know our mc so i guess opinions on her might be a bit mixed rn but i'm definitely on her defending squad and i didn't appreciate that some of you weren't putting respect on her name.... like yeah we all see how privileged she is and that "she knew what she was getting into" but that's the point, he clearly once knew how to handle everything but now he is not as careful with striking a work-life balance and she is entitled to be upset about this relationship becoming something she did not sign up for, he set expectations up and i don't think we can blame her for being disappointed (oooh darly isn't it fun how your work generates discourse!)

i just had a silly little thought/an au for this story that since yk pregnancy/motherhood is a topic here and this last chapter was so focused on how easy it is for oc to be with yumi so maybe they separate but she's pregnant (obviously in this scenario both of them are in agreement in terms of keeping the baby no matter the circumstances)..... it'd be so interesting to see how they would navigate their separation, since it would be a kind of death occurring at the same time as a birth. i don't know, just something that came across my mind!

i think all that's left are some questions i have! i'm sure you've said it before but i just can't remember: will they only be separating or actually going through with a divorce? aaaand two parts??? we're in for a ride! will it be pre and post separation or is it still all going down in part one? (maybe you can't answer any of these and that's totally fine!)

anyways, my heart becomes achey with these two no matter how sweet some parts may be so i think we'd all do good with ego season next, if that floats your boat (as always, no pressure at all, managing one story is already hard, your pace deserves our respect and whatever you prefer to work our appreciation)

okay here's the thing. the main character I have the strongest negative feelings about outside of logan is shiv but as I said in my other post that's extremely complicated bc she's also the character I have the strongest urge to defend. she exists in a special liminal space for me for reasons that are deeply personal. so while yeah sometimes I have a really strong negative reaction to her she doesn't really fit in the category of irrational loathing bc it's far more complicated than that

I've also seen the show so many times (on my 21st rewatch rn) that I think I've come around just through exposure to characters I initially bristled at. but. but. when I first finished the show I fucking hated roman. I did. sorry romangirls. my irl bestie is a romangirl so I don't take this lightly. there's just something about him. I can't pin it down I just don't like him. Connor and Greg amuse me, Kendall I simply don't care about, Roman makes me taste blood. I think if I had to guess why I think a lot of it is the flippant way he regards the harm and discomfort he causes the people around him but that isn't exclusive to Roman so I think it's just a personality thing. sorry
