Danny sighed, looking out at the ocean. Two years ago when he moved here, he didn’t think he’d ever be happy on this godforsaken island. He only moved here for Grace, to see his daughter on the rare days his ex-wife allowed him too. His six months at HPD made him want to quit everything forever, but he kept going because he knew Grace was proud of him. She loved her cop father, and told him often. And then he met Steve McGarrett, who completely fucked his life up. Everything got turned upside down, he thought he was losing his mind, and every day was another step towards death or a heart attack. He’d been shot, tortured, kidnapped, almost died from biological weapons, and more since that day. If you’d asked him how long he’d be at Five-0 in that first week with Steve, he would have told you that he’d never keep working for Steve. But he was wrong. Oh boy was he wrong. But sitting here, watching the sunset, with a beer in his hand and sand between his toes, he couldn’t find it in himself to be upset about it. Steve, Chin, Kono, Max, they’d all become family to him. ‘Ohana’ as Steve calls them. They were happy together, surprisingly enough. Steve McGarrett changed Danny’s life, for the worse at first, but even Danny had to admit his life had gotten better since Steve walked in. Now if only Danny could find the courage to make it even better…

“What’s that sigh for?”

Danny turned, looking up at Steve, grinning at the man. “Just thinking.”

“About?” Steve asked, plopping down onto the sand next to Danny.

“You.” Danny admitted.

“Me?” Steve repeated. “I didn’t even do anything to make you mad tonight.”

“I wasn’t thinking about you in an angry way.” Danny chuckled.

“Then what’s up?”

Danny shrugged. “Just thinking about how you’ve changed my life.”

“Usually you say I ruined it.” Steve pointed out, bumping Danny’s shoulder with his own.

Danny rolled his eyes. “You should know by now that I only hate you when you’re trying to get us killed.”

“And the rest of the time?”

Danny looked at Steve, hearing a new level of nervousness in Steve’s voice that he hadn’t heard before. Steve wasn’t looking at Danny, instead looking down at where he was picking at the label on his longboard. “The rest of the time I definitely don’t hate you.” Danny spoke softly, letting some of his emotions spill out in his voice.

“Danny…” Steve whispered.

“The rest of the time I have a hard time convincing myself not to fall in love with you.” Danny continued.

Steve’s head snapped up, eyes boring into Danny’s. “What?” Steve gasped.

Danny shrugged, looking out across the ocean. “You’ve changed my life Steve. Even you have to admit that. But I don’t expect anything, and I’m happy with where we are. It doesn’t matter in the end, I’m surprised but you’ve actually made me happy in this hellhole, and I don’t want to lose that. So we can just pretend this didn’t happen. We can just leave it be, move on, and we don’t have to change the way we interact.”

“But-” Steve cut himself off.

Danny turned to him, looking concerned. “Steve?”

Steve sighed, biting his lip. “What if I don’t want to just leave it be?” Steve’s voice was small, more scared than Danny had ever heard before.

“Are you serious?”

i guessed sjm was an only child when she tried to write evil step-sisters caricatures (which can’t even be applied because feyre is not cinderella, who did all the housework and domestic labor, the very thing feyre is dismissive of) with biological sisters but i knew she was an only child when nesta and elain didn’t laugh their asses off at feyre’s “i can fuck and fight better” nonsense at the dinner scene in acomaf. like it’s such a youngest sibling thing to say, nesta and elain should’ve been crying from laughter (although i guess it was a tense atmosphere with those decrepit bats there)

Day 19 & 20 - Bones / Impaled

Alright so I took a shower and I'm ready to yap into the void and it goes something like this

Post-show and prime bros shenanigans, star wars intro subtitle scroll Somehow The Council Has Returned and they're very much salty about being dethroned, so they make a scuffed time machine to get themselves a few years back to the prime of their power. Fight happens over it, something gets fucked in the machine in the meantime and it hits none other than Nine. Good ol angsty baby shenanigans ensue while this time the full attempt is at sealing the council into the abyss permanently.

Nine of course has an amnesia-type thing except it's not really because you can't lose the memories of a future you so that's a lot of fun. Not for Nine though, no fun in being a defenseless little baby, but for Sonic, who gets to carry around and spoil a fox kit again (though he has to keep and bear in mind that that's a completely different fox kit ok? Ok good, don't want anything to go awry there haha)

The main draw of this is like, the culmination at the end once Nine is back to normal. And because I will never give him a break it would be so that he got his actual horrible terrible past memories back but now they're displaced with the somehow fresh ones, where Sonic actually cared for and loved him, where Nine got at least a small snapshot of the childhood he always wished to have

another huge issue with the US's for-profit health insurance system that I don't hear complained about enough is that it creates a huge swell of demand with no increase in supply on a yearly basis.

insurance plans renew every January 1, so nearing the end of each year many people have reached their deductible (the dollar limit a person must spend of their own money each plan period before their insurance covers the majority of medical bills, though not 100%. typically insurance covers 80% of bills at this point) or even their max out of pocket (like the deductible but instead it's the maximum someone has to pay of their own money for that plan period, then insurance covers 100% of bills moving forward).

this means that toward the end of the year everyone who has reached this fucked up platinum membership status for health care rushes to book as many desperately needed appointments and procedures as they can while they still qualify for significantly reduced costs.

it becomes a NIGHTMARE to see a doctor at this time. even as early as october, depending what you need you may not find an open appointment with any doctors in your area until January. and by "in your area" I don't mean just your town, I mean a 50 mile (80km) radius from your location. sometimes more.

morons in the US who claim that single payer healthcare will mean that everyone has to wait in huge lines to aee doctors and won't be allowed to see their regular doctor if they want care always ignore that the above scenario plays out every single year.
