Literally crying in a dark room at work because I’m hard of hearing and AT&T’s voicemail portal no longer plays voicemails in the browser without the error “Unexpected Authentication Challenge: Access Manager WebSEAL received an unexpected authentication challenge from a junction Web server,” and when I try to forward our voicemails to email, a feature which also provides a transcript, they never hit my inbox. I was told this is because AT&T’s portal— despite operating in a browser— requires QuickTime, which Apple no longer updates & supports.

Although, it makes zero sense to me why QuickTime would affect the ability to forward emails to an office Gmail account. Especially given that I can forward them to a personal AOL account, which is not a sustainable strategy given that these are work voicemails, not personal ones. That information should not be sitting in a personal inbox. So, I went to create an AOL for the office. Guess what? Requires a mobile number to create. We only have a landline.

So my only option— because I cannot get transcripts— is to dial *98 and listen to every voicemail in succession. “Well, yeah, why don’t you just do that, dumb ass?” I cannot make out the recordings. I have no idea what they’re saying, and I have no ability to pause, play back, rewind, or turn up the volume like I did in the browser.

So, yeah, I’m crying in the dark because I am so frustrated and this shouldn’t be this hard. My job shouldn’t be made more difficult because a bunch of companies have made their services worse.

Can I ask for an Ice color neopet review? Cause uhh question to TNT: why is Bruce the only one not made of ice like the others??

Ice was first introduced via the Ice Bori, which was exclusive to the Neopets toolbar (which was basically a rebranded Yahoo! toolbar). Ice was the only unique Bori color you could make and the Ice Bori still has restrictions to this day. On top of that, ice as a whole is a lab ray-exclusive colour, making it a pain to get for any species of Neopet.

For such an exclusive, rare colour however, ice always felt a bit underwhelming, if I'm being honest (and yes, that includes the super special Ice Bori). For one, it already shares a bit of concept with the colour Snow. The executions are very different, but there's undeniably some overlap there. And secondly, "ice" is just not a very exciting concept—it's just a regular Neopet, but made of ice. There is a bit of variation in how it's sculpted, as some pets are smooth like real ice sculptures and some are more polygonal, but it's more-or-less a copy/paste for each pet, without anything to really make them unique individually.

Being a very straightforward colour, Ice was not really affected much by conversion. Some pets had a few details tweaked for whatever reason, such as some becoming less polygonal, but otherwise ice still looks about the same as it used to.

Favorite Species:

Bruce: I lied when I said all Ice pets are the same. There are two exceptions: the Hissi, shown below, and the Ice Bruce, which is designed to look like a Brucicle (basically the Neopets version of those novelty shaped ice creams on a stick). Admittedly, it does bug me that this one stands out so much—I feel like it would've been better as it's own Bruce-exclusive colour, like you could have a Magical Red Brucicle ala fruit and veggie Chias)—but it at least has a fun concept, which is more than you can say for most Ice pets.

My only other issue with this one is that, unlike other Ice pets, the Ice Bruce got it rough with conversion, and completely lost the point of the concept. I do like the texturing of the converted version—looks more like ice cream, whereas the UC/styled version looks like cardboard—but why they thought altering it was a good idea at all is beyond me.

Hissi: The other Ice pet to actually have a concept, the Hissi is based off of the Snowager, and has a really cool design to match. The stripes give it some much-needed flavor compared to other Ice pets, and I like the bit of subtle transparency as well.

Cybunny: Out of all the standard Ice pets, I think I like the Cybunny the best. It's not the most amazing design in the world or anything, but the texturing is nice, complete with a few sharp unfinished angels and some scratchy lines. It's also nice and shiny, and retains a good amount of contrast, unlike some other Ice pets.

Least Favorite Species:

Wocky: One of the few Ice pets that was made worse during conversion for no real reason, the Ice Wocky is a bit of a mess. The shading is all over the place, the actual texturing is basically non-existent, and the polygons don't make sense with the body and are negated by areas that have a lot of detail, like the fur and the eyes.

The pre-customization version wasn't great or anything, but it was at least better shaded and the polygons were less intrusive, making it far more appealing than whatever we ended up with.

It’s literally Mermay and here I am nearly FORGETTING my mermaid Soundchet centric AU…

Alright, for starters, Ratchet in this AU is the only one (besides the pre-existing human characters) that didn’t get mermaided bc I had other plans for her

fun fact, the first piece I have here is actually Ratchet and SW firsts meeting and what happened is essentially Ratchet, somewhere in medschool went on a boat trip w/ friends (Jasper in this AU is a beachside town bc I said so) and she FALLS OFF and is dramatically saved by Soundwave and taken back to shore (missing one of her shoes but that’s okay) and after a few more chance meetings that turn into purposeful meetings they fall in love ooo and get secret married (this is all before the war starts btw)

okay, so the war a lot of the premise stays pretty much the same except everyone is mermaids now, and the Decepticons reside much deeper in the ocean while the Autobots reside in a flooded military base (you should look up photos of flooded nuclear bases those things are awesome) bc yahoo Agent Fowler is still w/ us but this time his issue is mermaids instead of aliens

The human kids met the Autobots definitely bc Miko toook them to check out the old abandoned base and then it totally wasn’t abandoned anymore

June and Ratchet (Rosamonde in this AU ig) are old friends and coworkers, w/ Ratchet totally being her sort of mentor earlier on when June started nursing, but as close as they are June is still a bit unnerved by her totally normal husband, Soundwave (he’s not a fish I promise)

Soundwave, sometime in the beginning of the war very much found the stress of dying and knowing Ratchet could never possibly known what would’ve happened to him totally a bummer so he broke into what the Hall of Records and stole one of the relics (aka the magic human necklace) and has been parading around as human for like, 9 years

Soundwave has also definitely figured out that kids are in cahoots w/ the Autobots (he has told Ratchet this fact) and he’s sort of keeping an eye on them

God… I promise I will draw more for this 🙏

POMNI:

very awkward comforter, i think i might have said this somewhere; in fact i may have had a similar request to this a while ago but i truly do not remember and i cant be bothered to look through the sea of TADC stuff ive written... but she would be SO bad at comforting people; like she just stands there before awkwardly patting your back. and thats assuming she goes through with the action, theres a solid chance she just. asks outright if youre okay in this nervous voice trying to be gentle. its not her fault i prommy, shes just bad at comforting people. offers to take you to her room so you have some privacy, kind of just lets you let it all out

RAGATHA:

again i might be biased for ragatha because ive really fallen in love with her since i opened up requests but she would be the absolute queen of comfort. speaks in a really soft voice as she takes you off to yours or her room, sets you down on the bed and lets you lean on her for support (metaphorically and literally!). gives you the softest blankets and pillows, and simply lets you pour your heart out. asks if you want comfort or solutions; because both have their time and place i think. sometimes you want solutions, and sometimes you just want pure comfort. ragatha gets it. and whichever one you want, shes going to deliver on it! will likely take it upon herself to try to solve the issue if its an external thing that made you upset. 10/10 love her

believe or not i think he would be the type to try to confront the thing upsetting you yourself, especially if it was someone who had upset you. best way i can explain it is like. you know that one pizza episode of spongebob where squidward stands up for spongebob to that rude customer who made him cry? it would have the same energy, i think. asshole who actually has a heart stepping in to defend someone when there needs to be justice type deal. now if he was the one who made you upset, say by one of his pranks, then it might take him a minute for the guilt to kick in but it would be there... eventually. does feel bad, tries to cheer you up and does try to apologize, i think

KINGER:

oddly enough i think he would be up there in terms of how good he is with comforting people! i say odd because he seems so out of it a lot of the time. but i think the second he sees your tears hes just laser focused. very similar to ragatha in terms that he takes you away and lets you speak. to the pillow fort! lets you cry into the fur of his robe, too... rubs circles into your back. this man carries the same level of comfort that sweet old people carry, if that makes sense. the type of person so say "ive got you" when comforting someone, i think

ZOOBLE:

has to do a double take when they see you crying. like pomni i think theyre bad at comforting... but not as much, if that makes sense. if it was someone who had made you upset, they probably try to tell you that they arent worth the time of day and that youre better than them. strikes them with the curse of them also giving you awkward back and shoulder pats, but its even more awkward and uncomfortable because they have weird hard plastic hands. look, ok. theyre trying, theyre likely trying their best too- honestly i think their main form of comfort is talking shit about the person or thing that made you feel bad

GANGLE:

honestly she might cry with you. admittedly i dont see gangle herself being the best comforter when someone is crying; especially if its someone she cares so deeply about. i think like everyone else, she would gently take her hands in yours and guide you off to the side so you can have some privacy and decency. she does try her best to try to cheer you up; and i think that she would have better luck with it if her comedy mask isnt broken! but if it is, its likely that shes going to cry with you. probably leads to vent sesh between the two of you where you vent to one another and cry. hey, that works too, i think! not to say that she is trying to purposefully trying to make it about herself too, but like. her way of empathizing with you. "oh hey we're both having a bad day, let me show how i can relate to you so you feel less alone" type deal

The Last Japan Box Of 2024!

This was precisely the very last Japan box of the year! 🎉 Hard to genuinely believe it's already 2025. Why must time fly?! 😞

While it was smaller than previous boxes, there were still some fantastic flashy gets inside! 💙

As always, Jiraiya was a "purr"-fect little helper gray potato! 😸

The card frame is, OMG!! 🙀 It adds considerably to the already sexy card! Undoubtedly a must have for the collection, the moment my eyes gazed upon its glory!

This little cutie is SO soft! 💙 I in fact have a second one on the way. As I naturally want to snuggle him so badly, but carefully keep the plush mint at the same time! The issue will be properly resolved in the next box.

What we have here is an extremely rare find and something that I never believed would be obtained! This notable figure was from a Shonen Jump contest back in 2009! I initially learned of this thanks to a Japan Mercari listing. There are three figures total and the seller wanted $350!! This was a price that couldn't be justified! Luckily, a set appeared on Yahoo Japan and I won!! 🎉

Buggy reminds me of something out of Super Mario here! 😸 Not sure if I will remove him from the protective plastic? Oh and he's magnetic! The other figures in the set are Luffy and Chopper. While Luffy has a home, Chopper will probably be listed on eBay or Mercari soon! 🤔

The can badge in the middle of the top row, Buggy's name is embossed! I truly love running my finger over the raised lettering. 😺 To be honest, a second for the collection wouldn't hurt! One for me to carefully touch and the other to remain mint!

Astonishingly this magnificent figure had yet to enter the collection! However, here he ultimately is in all his glory! 🙀 All thanks to Book Off listing him dirt cheap on Japan's Mercari! There is just one of the larger Buggy figures missing from the collection now. Which is of his Emperor look, fortunately his price has really dropped!

The calendar art of Buggy here is super sexy, unique and love! 🤤 I'm naturally delighted it's an image where he isn't being tortured! So tired of seeing art depicting that!! 😞

The gorgeous card on the left is part of an absolutely stunning fan made set, featuring various One Piece characters! 💙 💙

This is the last item from December's box! It's an old 2012 Jump Festa poster featuring my handsome man and his brother!

Absolutely, another autographed card! 😸 Though, here me out! The English version of this card hadn't graced the collection until now! Not only that, I really like how the card is presented. It was in a lot and the seller was kind enough to sell this separate! 💙 They even included the One Piece TCG Chinese promo for free! Such an incredible seller all the way around!

Once again, that gold pen! Not sure if anyone bothers following what I babble about here? I wanted to mention that Mike Mcfarland just under went surgery to have a tumor carefully removed from his brain! While the surgery was successful, his road to recovery is a long one.

This is shocking, words unfortunately escape me. 😿 Without Mike's distinctive voice, Buggy wouldn't be the clown I passionately love and adore. The one who undoubtedly saved my life and has kept me going! 💙 I sincerely wish him a rapid recovery, and hope to fulfill my dream of meeting him one day!

Privacy is in a terrible situation right now.

Especially on the internet. You know, Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Twitter(X), Apple, and even Tumblr all collect information about you to show you scarily accurate advertisements among other things.

Why does this matter?

This isn't about hiding information, it's about protecting information. You wouldn't let me know your entire life, your diary, all your photos and text messages, so why do you let random companies do the same?

Privacy Guides - Why Privacy Matters

So how do you stop this?

You can't. But you can lessen this. So I'm going to show you a non-exhaustive list of what I've used and what I know of that may help your privacy. I would recommend you go to privacyguides.org after if you want a better explanation. I'm just here to show you cool things.

Disclaimer

I am not a library on this sort of information and this is what I choose to use. I may be incorrect and you may have differing opinions. Also, this may be too extreme for everybody. Use what works for you. Again, I would recommend you go to privacyguides.org after you read this for a more in-depth and better explanation.

VPNs

You know what a VPN is. You've seen the sponsorships. VPNs are one of the most popular privacy tools, but know that they are not the only tool that you'd need. This list is evidence of that.

I would recommend Proton VPN, Mullvad, and IVPN for most users, as they provide a far better amount of privacy and features than VPNs such as Nord VPN, Surfshark, and Express VPN. If you really want unlimited devices go with Windscribe.

I personally use Proton VPN due to the fact that I use their other services.

Browsers

You should probably know that Google Chrome is basically spyware at this point. The issue here is, almost all Chromium-based browsers are. These include, Edge, Opera, and Vivaldi. The only real exception would be Brave, but they've got leadership issues, which may not be a deal breaker for you.

So what do you use? A Firefox-based browser. This obviously includes Firefox, but most Firefox-based browsers are privacy-focused. The browsers that I recommend are Firefox, Librewolf, the Mullvad Browser, Waterfox, and Brave.

There is also the Tor Browser, but that is a whole 'nother can of worms that I will not go into. All I will say is that if you are in a high-risk environment(such as an oppressive regime) or you need absolutely no one to know that you searched that one thing, you may want to use the browser for anonymity.

I use Firefox as my main browser, with Brave as the browser that I use if something doesn't work on Firefox. I also use Tor if it is a high-risk situation.

Search Engines

Google, Bing, and Yahoo! all log your searches, you need alternatives. This is relatively straight-forward.

I recommend, Qwant, DuckDuckGo, SearXNG, Brave Search, and Startpage. Both Qwant and DuckDuckGo are fairly similar as they both use Bing search results and say that they don't track you. SearXNG is more complex, and I will not go into detail here. If you really want Google search results, use Startpage. And if you don't want your search to rely on Bing or Google, use Brave Search.

I use Qwant, mainly just cause its European.

Passwords

Passwords are the keys to your digital life. And most of the time they're not that great. You know the drill here, make passwords like this- XmaE7PEj2hq9ed$w - but you can't really remember them. For that you need a password manager.

I recommend Bitwarden, Proton Pass, and KeepassXC. Bitwarden and Proton Pass are more convenient, but you are trusting a single entity, reputable ones, but still. KeepassXC isn't as convienent, but you have near full control over what happens to it.

I use Proton Pass, as I use other Proton services.

Email

Email is identity, you almost always use your email in order to register for sites like Tumblr, and sites that aren't anything like Tumblr. Companies like Google, Microsoft, and Yahoo! all use your email inbox in order to gain more information about you for their companies. There are quite a few email providers, but I've only used and recommend two.

I recommend Proton Mail and Tuta Mail. Both are good email providers, although Proton would be better if you use other Proton services, like I do.

I use both Proton Mail and Tuta Mail for separate email addresses.

Aliases

Email Aliases are also very important for private email. Your email is your name, if you want to private, you'd go under pseudonyms. That's what email aliases are.

I recommend and have used Simplelogin and Firefox Relay. Email providers like Proton and Tuta also give you aliases when you pay. I don't know how well these work, but I assume that they work the Same as Simplelogin and Firefox Relay.

I use Simplelogin.

Devices/OSes

Phones

Now let's turn up the extremity to 11 as we look at your devices. Phone-wise, avoid Apple, they say that they care about your privacy, but they don't. Apple is better than Google, but I'd only recommend using an iPhone if you already have one, and it still has support left. If that's the case, then follow privacy guides like this one by Techlore(His channel is also really great for privacy guides). You should probably use a Google Pixel. Sounds weird as it's owned by GOOGLE, one of the companies that we don't want to be tracked by, but if we go with the Pixels we can use custom ROMs.

Most ROMs exist for your privacy, they are based on the Android Open Source Project(AOSP) which means they can run most of your favourite Android apps without messing them up with Google. In order to run most of your apps however, you're going to need some way of running Google Play Services. This is a backbone black-box that Google forces most of your apps to use in order to function. CalyxOS and LineageOS with MicroG both have MicroG, an open source implementation of Google Play Services. GrapheneOS just straight up uses Google Play Services but sandboxes it so that it can't get its tentacles all up in your phone.

I recommend going like this:

You have a modern-ish Google Pixel phone, go with GrapheneOS.

You don't have a Google Pixel, but your phone is still supported by CalyxOS, go with CalyxOS.

Your phone isn't supported by either of these but still is supported by LineageOS with MicroG, go with LineageOS.

Your phone isn't supported by any of these, you can do as much degoogling as you can.

Desktops/Laptops

Apple isn't actually that bad here, its better than Windows at least. But Linux is KING when it comes to privacy and security. There is definitely a learning curve here. Pin the terminal, you're going to use it a LOT. Also be aware that on Linux you won't have every single app that you're used to. If you don't really want that hassle, just go with Mac.

Linux distros that I recommend(for beginners) are: Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pop!_OS, and Elementary OS.

I use Ubuntu as it's the only one that I could get working on my computer.

Other Pieces of Advice

Use an Ad-blocker! Ads are terrible for privacy as companies can get their trackers in completely unrelated sites via their ads. I use and recommend uBlock Origin.

Don't use any personally identifying information online. Don't use your real name, a picture of you, your voice. The less you give to the internet, the more private you are.

Mix and Match! Explore what works for you. You might be okay with changing OSes but you might be a bit too reliant on GMail. That's fine! Just use what works.

You know that shot from the magic shop in 1941? The one with the sword (and the “Excalibur’s Chest” magic trick) between them?

@myladycrow12 reminded me on my gif set post of the similarity to the visual in a scene from the movie Excalibur (1981 - check it out if you haven’t seen it - deeply weird and dark and rated R - fantastic music). There’s a scene where Lancelot and Guinevere have consummated their forbidden love affair in the woods, Arthur comes along while they are sleeping and leaves Excalibur in between them. I went to grab a screenshot from the movie, saw that it is pretty much the same sword, and was shooketh. Here you go:

Lancelot and Guinevere KNOW now they have been found out, that Arthur knows, and that he did not immediately strike them down but that consequences will happen. (There’s also a whole thing about Arthur abandoning the sword that gives him the right to rule, but we’ll leave that be for the moment… except to say that Lancelot freaks out about this issue, and runs off into the woods ass out which is actually pretty funny)

How does this relate to our ineffables? Well, at this point Aziraphale has realized what their relationship is (it’s love, baby!!!), Crowley’s been there all along (maybe not in the same words but you know), but they are still being watched, monitored and observed - literally by the nazi zombie yahoos in this scene but potentially at all times from above. That’s a great big sword keeping them apart.

Threats

Sometimes it can be very frustrating to live in a place so heavily populated with conservatives. Most everyone I run into plans on voting for Donald Trump because they believe he was sent by God to save them. He is what's best for our country, and it doesn't matter what he says or does, nothing is going to shift their belief in him.

I know a lot of these people have no idea what Trump really says. I know most of them have no idea what the results of his hatred for immigrants, the media, or liberals will really be. Mostly because they don't believe what he will do is really that extreme, and also because most of them really can't be bothered to actually do a bit of thought or research to understand the threat. Nope, they are die hard republicans and voting any other way is voting for the devil and the destruction of the country.

The thing is, I know a lot of these people aren't stupid. And though they say that they aren't hateful or racist people, it sure seems hard to believe them when you watch how they respond when they are told about how Trump wants to send troops into American cities on day 1 to root out every single immigrant and deport them. It's as if they can't put it together that if we suddenly remove a few million people from our economic system that we are going to have massive upheaval. No, these people aren't all collecting government checks that are so large they live better than you. These same people aren't taking your job. They are doing construction jobs, agriculture jobs, and meat packing jobs that a lot of Americans will not do. Many of them are paying taxes.

Don't get me wrong, there needs to be a better system in place to root out the criminals that sometimes slip through the cracks. There also needs to be a way for these people who are dedicating their lives to getting better and working hard to become citizens. We all know that suddenly deporting millions of people is going to adversely effect our economy. Adding in tariffs will significantly increase the costs of everyday items and cause a massive recession or depression. Tariffs have a place and a point, but Trump doesn't know what it is, and that's why he had to pay trillions of dollars to farmers and agriculture companies just to keep them afloat after he started his trade war.

But, this isn't about economics. As bad as Trump is on economic issues, you will never hear a bad word about it in the right-wing media sphere which is where the vast majority of these upper lower class yahoo's get their information from.

No, what I'm really getting to is that Trump, and by extension the Heritage Foundation, is planning to use every tool at their disposal to completely upend our society in every way imaginable. For people who seem constantly obsessed with conspiracy theories about democrats murdering newborn children, children using cat litter boxes in schools, or the government pushing vaccines on people to track their every movement, they don't want to consider the possibilities of giving a man who is deemed to be untrusty by every reasonable measure the tools to do whatever he wants.

You say you love your freedom. You say you want your guns, your free speech, your religious freedoms, and every other thing you know you are entitled to by our constitution. Yet, you can't understand that a man willing to send the police and military through the streets to root out undesirables isn't going to suddenly decide one day that even your freedoms are too much. You shouldn't have your guns because some idiots tried to assassinate me. You shouldn't have any right to protest because you don't like what I did. Maybe I will send the police and military into your town to round you up next and stick you in concentration camps.

I know you believe that will never happen. Oh, my representative wouldn't allow that. Yes they would. They are all cowards who have repeatedly bowed down to let Trump say and do whatever he wants. Are they suddenly going to grow a spine and try to say no just because your lily white ass is now on the line? Hell no, they won't because like every coward they are far more worried about their own lily white ass.

Trump and all of his enablers are a threat to the very foundation of this nation, and I am so sorry that none of you are able to see it. I still believe there are enough people of good moral judgement and conscience that Trump is going to lose this election. I can't guarantee that though. There are people in place to gum up the works and there are others who plan to not certify the vote if Trump loses. I don't expect Trump to walk away if he gets blown out, and I don't expect the right wing bubble to do anything but try and say how everything was stolen from them. Just wanna put out my confessions about Liam's passing. In which i believe several people have differing opinions due to what media have portray on our soc media & articles. After reading the testimonies from his dad Geoff and report from prosecutors office, in which i believe all of us should have the same stances regarding his passing are:

• Liam did not fell from the balcony, whether because of escape/suic*de/accidental.

• Liam record of alcohol / drugs substance was initially cleaned on first autopsy (only traces)

• Liam does not have any mental health issue nor substance abuse that lead him to his death

• Liam intends to quit from making music and do business (this is stated in report but unsure how authentic this info was for now), not dropped like Universal Music and all media claimed (which announced after his death)

These official reports are huge contradictions from what the media, articles, and documentary by TMZ (they are all US based fyi) trying to create for the public narrations. I believe all my 1d family felt the same way -- when we first heard about circumstances of his death, we knew something felt off. i still believed it was set up for whatever scheme there are behind the closed door.

Having no cctv footage from any streets, buildings, hotels itself are just red flag, living in this age. Its just ridiculous and an insult to all of us.

Ok but seriously, this specific line has been haunting me for months because I was like "there's no way that's the original line right? Is there actually an Italian equivalent to the R slur or was the translator just having a bad day???" WELL TODAY I HAVE SOLVED THE CONUNDRUM ONCE AND FOR ALL. And the truth is:

Trip was fucking FRAMED!!! The original insult used was "babbeo" which, based on everything I can source online, roughly translates to "fool" or "idiot" or any other derogatory name that's basically just calling someone stupid. So like THEORETICALLY it could be translated to the R slur but it's a bit of an extreme take 😭

Anyways I'm not saying that Trip WOULDN'T say slurs, just that I needed closure and I finally have it.

I obviously don’t want to scare people or wish certain things into existence cause I don’t play about that, but I’m not going to lie about thinking this could be a genuine possibility in the near future. As of now, one of the goals for Project 2025 & the far right government is to ban pornography. They’ve already banned access to pornhub in certain states within the Southern region (which may seem good in theory but sets a bad precedent despite me hating pornhub overall), they’ve already started book bans, and they’re going to hit reproductive health, sexual freedom, education, gender equality, and everything else under the sun. They would have to define what “pornography” is, and really it can be anything that can be twisted to allow the aversion of sex or sexuality, and that includes fanfiction and erotica as a genre of media, and targets both writers and those that engage with it.

Sites like AO3, fanfiction.net, wattpad, and tumblr have already been through the wringer when it comes to censorship, and obviously this isn’t the same tumblr from 2012 before Verizon bought the site from Yahoo and people were allowed to post full on porn on here without being targeted. All of these fanfic sites have gone through stages of “purges” where fics were full on deleted and people try to censor content on these platforms to make it harder to engage with things like fanfic and erotica in general.

It’s a no brainer that these platforms, if the government pays attention enough to what we’re doing and how we’re engaging with one another (and let’s face it, they will because all of our apps are surveillanced by the government to begin with) these platforms will eventually get on their radar and they’ll try to either shut it down, or sell it to Meta to fuck it up even more. Tumblr is one of the last sites where you can discuss politics & post content rather freely despite the slight censorship the app goes through from time to time. TikTok is already being censored and you can’t search up certain things on that platform like before (rigged election, vaginal health, and saying anything about Palestine gives you a warning for hate speech) because it got sold to Meta and will be managed by Mark Yuckerberg.

Now is the time to try to save what we can on hard drives and to be more open minded and supportive of those that want to share fanfic regardless of what the content may be. The constant dog piling and policing towards fanfic esp towards writers is just another symptom of the growing puritan culture that will feed into the mass censorship of the online third spaces we currently have. One way or another, tumblr will become a target, just like ao3, just like everything else around us really because the government wants to control what we do, what information we share, and how we communicate with one another. It’s much less about fanfic & erotica itself and more about tumblr being a platform people can use freely just like tiktok before they changed the algorithm.

We just have to be smart and do what we can to keep each other engaged and knowledgeable about what’s going on in an era of Internet blackouts and misinformation. We really can’t predict anything that’s coming, but we know censorship and the criminalization of creative freedom and free thinking are big things in authoritarian & fascist regimes especially in this age of late stage capitalism. Tumblr will become a target soon enough, but I hope it isn’t too soon and we can continue to have this app to spread awareness towards current issues the best way we can.

the latest chapter of emperor and the goddess was fucking W I L D - edel got not just a wife, but a whole ass DAUGHTER and then she still... cheats on byleth with ingrid. also yippee yahoo the narration refers to ingrid as a woman STILL. the entire fic really just reminds me that popularity /=/ good writing

Here's the thing. If the issue with this fic was just that the prose is mediocre or the characterizations are bad—and they are—nobody would talk about it the way that they do. There's a similar fic that's been brought up as a sort of counterpoint to EatG that I have not made too much public comment on, and it's not because I don't have opinions on it; it's because I'm not terribly interested in it and the opinions I do have are mixed-to-negative, but it's almost entirely due to writing style and characterization. (There ARE a couple of iffy cultural elements in there worth critiquing; I chalk them up to inexperience and naivete, but it's not invalid to point them out if you're going to.)

There are a couple of things that set EatG apart. It's not just that it's an incredibly popular fic whose author is perfectly happy to let people claim it's either the true canon or better, and it doesn't help that he's basically been Christopher Columbus-ing fanfiction by acting like he's writing some brilliant meta piece that's totally not the same as those icky girly fanfics. It's that the fic is choked with absolutely rancid implications and themes about biracial people, nonwhite people in general, women, gay men, mentally ill people, trans people, religion, imperialism, and genocide. When people whose heads aren't shoved up Edelgard's ass comment on this, every criticism is dismissed by either pretending the person said something they very clearly didn't say or pulling "I'm not misogynistic, I have a lesbian beta reader!".

Like, there are mediocre-to-bad fanfics in every fandom, right? There's certainly plenty of them in the 3H fandom, for any ship (I've turbosmashed the back button on plenty of Claude/leth fics). Edel/eth is one of the most popular ships in the fandom; you go through those archives, you're gonna find some clunkers. That in itself is not the problem. The problem is the hype around it, fed into by the author, and the truly obscene bullshit that gets repeatedly handwaved (as we know, a story about queer women is at its most above reproach when written by a cis man) and whatabout'ed (a biracial character hating herself for her "nonhuman" side and being told she's right is totally fine because sometimes people who dislike Edelgard aren't very nice).

Any time a fanfic author acts like this, run.
