I'm gonna answer this in good faith because I'm always trying to combat this idea that Lando is some sort of loner loser uncared for guy because I think we can see from every interaction he has with his team that he's deeply cared for. That said, I know we've been mclaren pilled to think that McLaren Formula 1 Team is some sort of family situation but it is at the end of the day a Workplace and Lando Norris is not gonna go to his boss and put on the Pathetic Meow Meow half act that he puts on for Max because he wants that familiar, warm comfort that Max gives him. And also unfortunately for me personally Jon Malvern is not on twitch dot com so we don't really know what sort of interactions he has with Lando where we can't see.

Like the calling himself dumb and not eating and not sleeping are very familiar Lando Patterns for someone that's been watching him for 4 years so I'm willing to bet that the people around him know enough to let him retreat into himself for a little while. But mostly I think @scenetocause hit the nail on the head when they said Lando probably only wants the specific comfort he gets from Max because Max is good at couching gentleness behind the banter and knows all of Lando's patterns and how to break them and so it's easy for Lando to let himself be cajoled by his best friend the way he probably wouldn't let anyone else do!

Do you have a rare pair that you like? Will you ever write a fic for them?

Oooo…. that's such a good question!!

I’ll split my boys up and put each of them in a different pair. Even through it breaks my heart to split them and I will always still want endgame Jeggy, but they can have fun with these guys for a little while!! 😉

I am really liking Reg and Kingsley. I think they work so well together, and I love their dynamic. I honestly don’t think I would’ve thought of them together, but after reading a few fics with them (and some very delicious fanart), they are really good together and I have very quickly become a big fan!  

But I have to say my favorite rare pair is James and Evan. I love them together! And I wish there were so many more fics with them!! I also love me some rosestarkillerchaser… But there is just something about solo James and Evan that I love. I’m reading 2 wips right now that have them together and they’re just so cute and so sweet and so kinky and so smutty and I just want to squeeze them! James calling him Evy melts my heart every time 🥹 (I am nervous because neither of those wips have endgame tags and one of them I want endgame Rosechaser (is that their ship name?) and the other I want Jegulus but everyone keeps switching partners and it is so stressful.)

As far as writing them… I would love to write them eventually, but I don’t think I can yet. Or at least I don’t feel like I can. I definitely don’t think I know Kingsley enough to write him yet. I know I can make him whatever I want, but I’d be nervous if I wrote him right now, he would be very James-coded, and I wouldn’t want to do that. And I feel like I ‘know’ Evan a bit better, but I’ve only had him as a side character so far, and I think the same thing might happen to him and the ship would end up just feeling like Jegulus or Rosekiller.  

I haven’t written much other than my microfics and when I was writing a longer fic, I struggled a lot with finding Reg and James’ voices, if that makes sense. I kept bouncing all around different personalities that just weren’t them in that particular fic. And it was very hard for me to keep them consistent through the entire fic. And that was with Reg and James, who I write all the time, and thought I understood very well.

I think it would be even harder for me to write Evan or Kingsley as a main ship right now and be able to give them their own voice and personality and characterization. I have a feeling it would turn out looking more like I wrote a Jegulus fic, then just changed the name. And I don’t want to do that. (I hope that made sense and was all okay to say. If not, please let me know.)

I think once I get more comfortable writing in general, I’ll feel more confident to branch out more. (I’m just a baby ☺️)

Shout out to Tamora Pierce specifically for making her lead female protagonist have a crush on a friend, not act on it, and eventually out-grow that crush and feel grateful that she never said anything.

There are so few stories that affirm choices like that, that admit that feelings don’t always last forever and that choosing not to pursue romance is actually a very valid choice. I love the Protector of the Small series for a lot of reasons, but this is a big one.
