A 22 yr old in my org got drunk tuesday night and kinda shit on the fact that I'm running a community cleanup for our chapter. Said something along the lines of "i didn't join up to pick trash." Which really bothers me and it took me a while to figure out why. The whole point of the community cleanup is that we're returning to the neighborhoods where we knocked doors for A4 to help clean up their streets and provide material improvement for free in an effort to build inroads with those neighbors.
Like... if your socialism doesn't include picking uo trash, I'm guessing it also doesn't include doing the dishes, babysitting, or anything else that is important but not prestigious. Idk man, fuck off with that shit. You'll pick up trash and you'll like it until you understand why picking up trash isn't anyone's job but your own. I hate that attitude. If helping and doing activism was always fun and visible and impressive, everyone you know would already be doing it.

i mean this in the nicest way possible you guys but you NEED to take better care of yourselves online. getting severely anxious about mass quantities of horrible things you cant change every single day is normal considering the internet’s ability to educate on worldwide issues, it shows that you have empathy and that you truly do care. but relentless knowledge of constant suffering on this scale is NOT something humans are psychologically equipped to handle. it’s okay to shut off. it’s okay to just take a break and enjoy yourself for a while in your own localized space

Poll: i’m curious as to how others dry clothes. In europe its very common to air dry clothes outside. Yet in the usa i hear dryers are most used yet the weather seems like it would do a good job and be better for environment.
How do you dry your washing/laundry?
Outside on a line (when weather allows)
On a airer/clothes horse inside
In a tumble dryer
Multiple of above

Took me until about halfway through college before I realized “study” means “play with the material in a variety of ways until you understand it” and not just “read the assigned chapters and do the homework” and I think that probably should have been discussed at some point prior to that.

sometimes I forget standing up isn’t painful and difficult for most people so I’ll be watching something like game changer and see the people standing behind their podiums the whole episode and think ‘wow don’t they need to sit down. how can they still think coherent thoughts’ and then I’m like oh. yeah. I have a disease

The way you change your immediate reactions to things is that you catch yourself having an uncharitable/bigoted/overly judgmental thought and you catch it and replace it and then you do that a hundred times a day for your whole life and eventually one day like five years later you realize that you think differently now and you’ll always be working on something but that’s how life goes and that’s fine.

one last post about this but for real I think the fact that Vax has no death wish, simply accepts that death is a consequence of the choices he made, and genuinely is dedicated to the Raven Queen is what trips up the fandom and the cast because killing the Raven Queen, arguably, makes things worse. If the Raven Queen dies? he has failed in his duty. It's not a happy ending for him. If he leaves service, breaking his oath? It's not a happy ending for him. There is no ending that is happy for both Keyleth and Vax other than, I suppose, the Raven Queen simply saying "you know what, fine" which is a deeply narratively unsatisfying statement with no real cause and which feels out of character. You can't handwave or weasel or One Weird Trick your way out of it because the Raven Queen is stalwart in her tenets and Vax is stalwart in his conviction. and people hate that. I feel Liam gets this and this is why people get mad about Orym, too; you can't cajole or logic or intimidate Orym into supporting a single thing the Vanguard do no matter how much you wish he'd bend.
I think having a firm conviction is a great character trait in and out of game, and I love paladins and similar, so I think these characters are great for it, but like, a lot of people don't because they want there to be a secret way out where they get exactly what they want, and sometimes there isn't and it makes them really mad. And again, makes sense for Vox Machina to feel this way about Vax, but there is not a universally happy ending available given the choices that were made.
#critical role#cr3#cr spoilers#vax'ildan#also the fandom tendancy to put keyleth’s future happiness entirely on vax’s presence#sure is a choice#idk how to tell you that you can experience pain and loss and be deeply angry about it#and still live a fulfilling life
